A bit like the trend of every Killer running BBQCheese / Ruin / Nurses Calling (and whatever the hell else they want for the 4th slot because at that point it doesn't matter as the three previous perks are just that powerful) on Billy / Nurse?
People use what works on both sides. For Survivor it's DH / MoM / Borrowed Time / DS (or swap out DS for Self Care)
BBQ ain't that great and has counterplay for days. Ruin is almost necessary since devs refuse to address overall game speed, but it isn't like Ruin helps that much unless you babysit the thing cause as with all hex perks the spawns are trash. Nurse's Calling is a great perk. Survivors become obsessed with healing even after they find out someone is using Nurse's.

No one is ignoring the litany of issues with dbd or saying they shouldn't fix them. Just saying that Predator won't mean very much in terms of players siphoned away when it comes out.
People who play dbd often try all the other asymetrical 1v4 games and end up coming back to dbd. Usually because even the high rate of turnover in the playerbase and gameplay issues this game still has the bigger player base. People aren't going to be that worried about it till A)We see actual gameplay and B)See if they offer more than just a single Predator.
-
Illfonic made Friday the 13th which would have been a good game if they could have been allowed to do the necessary additions and fixes, but when the license holder for the Ft13 franchise suddenly decided to renege on the established deal they couldn't really do much to the game. My hope is that what they learned on Ft13 the game will help them out with Predator.
It won't kill dbd, but it will be another game coming out after dbd that has the potential offer an experience that dbd doesn't.
-
I've seen it. Seems to be an issue of being in the middle of a palette rather than clearly being on the other side. Which is probably more to due with a latency issue.
-
Survivors in general wanted more pure nerfs than killer mains did. Reasonable killer mains understood that Legion needed adjustments to his power so the moonwalking was done away with. It seemed to me that killers were more divided on the issue of Frank's and Study usage. They weren't exploits it just made the power hyper efficient for what it was and at an extreme cost in bp. Was it too strong? Probably. He didn't lose anything to gain efficiency in downing people with deep wound damage.
Legion's is the most disliked killer in the game. Of that I feel very sure of. Regardless of whether people encountered infinite mending or moonwalking the facts are Legion players get treated horribly. So, I think a lot of the gutting of Legion was done just to get people to not instantly walk out on matches involving the killer. Has it helped? Not sure. I actually stopped playing the game after ptb because I wasn't having fun in general.
I do know one thing: Killer mains didn't feel like any of their time and energy on the ptb made a single bit of difference when it came to Legion. Reasonable concerns were raised about the slate of changes and they were just silently brushed aside.
-
Am I the only one think Left behind is pointless now? It was useful when you're the last survivor and not 2 Gen fixed.
The changes you suggested are way too much. Rather than making Left Behind useful those changes would make it beyond godly. That is far too big an over correction when you could simply change the perk interaction altogether.
Though it is rare to see perks completely change in ability once they've made it to live. I can only think of Tinkerer changing entirely in terms of what it does after it had been released. As a sidenote I miss the old tinkerer effect. It made so many killer addons and powers just function better.
-
I was running Devour Hope before the Legion changes and I still think it will work well after the change.
Devour Hope
Enduring
Spirit Fury
Huntress Lullaby
That build could get you what you want, but you're gonna have to be on totem watch2019 like the entire time or you're not gonna get the full value. You get a bit of gen control, speed boost after hook, exposed status, mori kill, and don't have to respect palettes.
-
I wish we had a badass military survivor. They could make him as big as Jeff or whatever, but he absolutely needs a ghille suit and camo cosmetics.
Bill is a Grizzled Vietnam vet. He's also from the Left 4 Dead games so that is why he doesn't get cosmetics.
-
In LoL we can honor our teammates and we have honor levels. The higher your owner level the more free junk you get. We also have a chest, key, and crafting element that ties into both the honor levels and being on a team with someone whose highly skilled or being highly skilled yourself.
In a game like this though you'd have to have killer and survivors honor each other. The key is that you can only honor positively or not at all. You can't turn it into a negative honor value. Honor also shouldn't be used for matchmaking. It should solely be for sportsmanship and free stuff.
Say all players in a trial honor everyone gets an extra 500 or 1000bp. Not enough on its own to buy anything in the bloodweb, but not so insignificant that it isn't worth the click. Players who progress up the honor tiers could unlock some sort of cheap cosmetic. Like a recolor or a single piece deal that only shows off your honor rank. Maxing out the honor tier could be a substantial bp payout or a shard payout, but if you're not wanting to add more shard generation to the game then you could have a season honor cosmetic. Something special that stands out in a decent way.
You make one per survivor or killer in a cycle till everyone has one. Though you'd probably need to make your seasons longer or have it so every 6 months the maxium tiered honor cosmetic cycles out to a different character. These cosmetics can't be purchased in the shop for any other currency. They've got to stay exclusive to the honor.
-
If we could start EGC whenever we wanted it would cause a huge amount of problems. The ability to force the game into a two minute sudden death and have endgame perks still be active before actually done anything to reach proper endgame would mean one side is at large disadvantage.
Survivors would hate it as they wouldn't get to score bp and killers would hate it for the same reason. The game probably needs a proper menu based concede, but the game should just stop and points are handed out for what did happen and nothing more.
-
I guess you sent the wrong screenshot as the scores seem perfectly fine.

#########!? why the aggression ? jeezz... leave your high throne and go get some air.
Have you even seen me complain about gen rush? I know it's part of the game. I've 3500hrs, I've gen rushed and been gen rushed hundreds of times. I was just wondering if anything changed since the patch to have made this more common. That's it!
My god... kids on the internet. Always so edgy... "go play civ 5" LUL #########... ridiculous.
That's not aggression. They are making a quasi quote from Cote-san. He once told someone who was playing killer that sent in a question to the stream to take a break for a while if you're not enjoying the game and go play something else. Cote actually recommended Civ 5.
The existing as entertainment for survivors is just sort of the general feeling going around as killer mains are actively seeing their feedback ignored.
Civ 5 is just one of the many meme answers in the dbd community. Along with "I think we did a pretty good job so far." or "EGC timer is 2 minutes but if someone is injured it is slowed by 50% which means it can last as long as 5 minutes.". The poor math one is new obviously.

They run on all fours, though.
Not all the time. Just when they need to crawl over surfaces. Though the dog Xenomorph is strictly on all fours. Warriors can run up right at good speed and the bigger Praetorians were shown to be more into sprinting and leaping than just full out running.
-
We did that already.

This is not quite correct. When the timer slows down, it slows down by 50%. So if someone is hooked for the entire EGC, the amount of time maxes out at 3 minutes, not 4.
Alright, can we just get proper documentation? Because your math is not working out to be what it should. So either the values wrong, your wrong, we're wrong, or someone is trying to make things confusing for the sake of being confusing.
If the math is wrong then I would suggest looking at other values as well that have recently changed. Cause it could very well be wrong there as well.

Having a larget TR can be quite useful in a lot of situations for certain killers. Slower Killers with big TR can enter chases quicker and maintain the chase status at longer distances from the survivor. This means they get their speed gain and bloodlust more consistently. TR based affects also get better usage out of a larger TR.

To be fair an ancient babylonian priestess roaming around a modern pre-school or a mad doctor in a corn field are quite out of place, I don't think anyone would complain about that.
Mad Doctor in a cornfield seems pretty legit honestly. Though, lets look at it this way:
The Entity takes people it can control and people it can feed off of. Xenomorphs don't feel fear or have actual emotions. The only ones that do display that trait are hive queens and they aren't actually very mobile. Warrior Xenos and Praetorian Xenos are effectively mindless. The Entity needs to have some sort of emotional component to influence a person to kill on its behalf. So it wouldn't take a creature that it can't control.

@Sergei_K I don't know about making her an M1 killer, if anything Nurse needs the decreased accuracy addons to actually have an effect, and have 3 blinks max. Default Nurse and 3 blink nurse is 100% fine, it's omega or cross map blinks with no downside that is the issue.
There is a downside. The more you blink the longer you are stunned after you've finished blinking. Also Omega Blink is the cross map blink. The other style is 5 blink nurse.
-
The pin addons are good ideas implemented poorly. Legion is punished for frenzy attacking the same target twice. You take a stun, lose all remaining power, and no longer can you affect the deep wounds timer. You can realistically waste a full minute of time messing around with the pin addons.
Being broken doesn't matter for legion as people already don't heal against legion. Blindness and Mangled for 30secs isn't really a plus as legion players tend to run sloppy butcher and if you wanted blindness on hit then you can just run third seal which gives it to you on the first hit.
On hit Legion would be a great idea, but they've gated off behind attacking someone twice with frenzy after they have made it highly inefficient.

"Decisive Strike has never been more balanced"
All it does is punish tunneling poorly. Extremely situational, easily counterable even when tunneling. I don't think I've seen anyone use it since the nerf.
That would be why DS is 'balanced', for the same reason that Head On is 'balanced'. Because nobody uses it because it is just that bad. lol
Killer fan-boy's idea of balance ^
Its still one of the highest used perks. It is just that now people gotta decide if they feel comfortable enough that they can handle getting hooked that first time.
DS was not healthy in its previous state and now it gives survivors what they want, but with a clear counter for killers that absolutely want to go after you. At some point we gotta get away from demonizing people style of play.
-
Been playing against a nurse and was last survivor.
You want an infinite amount of chances to escape when you're in a high pressure situation that you only end up in because you or your team as a whole did not do well in meeting their win condition? Is that what you are asking for?
Or do you just prefer having the standoff back so we can all waste extra time?
Maps, Keys, Wake Up. Start using these things. Hatch isn't perma-closed you can reopen it once with a key and you're probably sitting on a lot of them so just start using them.

Uh no, won't match the gameplay at all, xenomorphs are agile, fast and won't get stopped by a stupid piece of wood or window.
They also kill or breed their victims, they won't bother trying to sacrifice anyone.
This pretty much sums up all the reasons they would have passed on Alien license outside of the cost and how difficult it is to get. We've already seen how the devs and playerbase responds to agile killers. That didn't go well so why would anyone want to see a Xenomorph handicapped.
-
I would say no as you unhooking yourself really shouldn't fall into the benevolent category.
-
Points received for Unhooking a Survivor: 20 Points Delayed by 10 seconds and only awarded if the unhooked Survivor hasn't been downed in that time frame.
You get boldness points for ds and altruism for unhooking others. Deliverance I believe has its own scoring event.
Though that is bloodpoints. Emblem score is a max of 16 points spread across all 4 categories based on the actions you participated in during the course of the game. Bloodpoints don't factor into that, but if you do enough to pip or double pip as a survivor you usually get a decent amount of bloodpoints
-
I spent the whole ptb trying to work out what exactly was the best route to go with Legion and found that max duration or max cooldown worked well, but then they nerfed the hell outta cooldown addons so after that I just gave up. There are interesting ideas with the pin addons, but needing to frenzy someone who already has deep wounds for a timed effect isn't worth the time spent in chase or the power loss, stun, and recharge after the hit. You're looking at potential a minute plus of time wasted to get at best 60secs of broken which doesn't mean much when people don't heal around legion anyway.
Legion was a killer that struggled to being with and the changes didn't really help that. He now have about the same rate of struggle as the trapper, but mechanically he just has far less to gain for that struggle. All that mattered in the end was that Legion was a healthy experience for survivors it seems. Maybe things will change later, but I doubt it.

We do listen to feedback, however, not everyone will feel the same way as you. This is an asymmetrical game with many different playstyles, not everyone is going to see eye to eye on every change. While you may not like the changes personally, there were many more who supported the changes.
With that said, I wish you the best and hope to see you back some day.
I would just like to say that this game doesn't have many playstyles. You can see that by the scoring needs that players are being funneled towards a definitive playstyle that means nothing in terms of actual skill. Killers even with the surface looking very diverse has devolved into a boiler plate, paint by numbers affair. You spend more time hoping survivors are good enough to draw the game out than whether or not you can complete the game efficiently and skillfully.
Playstyles are in short supply these days. You want optimal score and pip, you've got at most two.

@ReikoMori Iirc there were people saying that she could crouch to keep her terror radius away so she can stalk you and your helmet will continue ticking. Could also basement block people like this with helmets on and wait for their heads to pop. Probably other stuff I don't remember too.
Her whole gimmick is stealth so that isn't an exploit. Also her traps weren't designed to stop ticking unless she entered a chase with you. You can easily outrun her while she is crouching and ambush is not a gap closer in any stretch of the imagination. The blocking thing also isn't an exploit it is just a silly thing to do. She could block certain areas while crouched so people couldn't move passed her, but bodyblocking isn't an exploit. Also the changes they were making to her wouldn't have addressed that in the least as when crouched she has no TR. They only addressed the basement issue in relation to every killer being able to bodyblock people in the basement during EGC countdown.
The Pig legit has nothing to exploit. I'm not calling for a refund, that is a dumb idea, but the pig didn't need to have thoughts that she needed impromptu nerfs when she ain't doing much anyway.

I'm pretty sure mist & darkness can increase by 25% without people getting problems.
If all survivors use the purple mist reagent you get nearly that amount of increased fog and it is a nightmare for both sides on certain maps. What your asking for is a sweeping increase by default that you can not be sure how it will affect other players. You've not considered hardware differences or the fact that we already have very little control over the visual fidelity of the game. It's all tuned by the devs to meet their aesthetic and gameplay needs.

@ReikoMori Unhook canceling is to get out a hit to get someone off the hook without being grabbed (it's essentially a trade). What does mori canceling do again? Oh, right. It's only for BM.
It's also used by survivors to torture other survivors who aren't in their circle of friends when they are in struggle state. Doing it repeatedly can caused the hooked survivor to botch their struggle inputs and die on hook.
Maybe check your attitude a little bit.

I was looking through the game files and when I went through this directory This PC>Local Disk (C:)>Program Files (x86)>Steam>steamapps>common>Dead by Daylight>DeadByDaylight>Content>UI>Icons>Items I found an item called "iconItems_trapple" What is it, and what function could it have?
DBD have two killers they prototyped and then decided not to use. One is the Teacher who would have used the trapple. The other is The Smasher who could destroy terrain.

as o said i get it it’s ti slow the game down but why not have it do all totem have it on but only effect the area the totem is in so even if you break one the other totem are still working in their area
Because thay actually would make Ruin ridiculously strong. Killers can see the gen aura as they need to be able to patrol them. If ruin affected all totems it would still blanket the map, but gens spawn in ways that often have the majority cluster to one side. So if the killer just protects the clustered area, you're never getting all the gens done.
Also you have to take into account that ruin is just one hex perk out of I think 8 now? So if it used all the totems you couldn't use the others in the same build which would break a ton of established builds both meta and off meta. Ruin isn't that bad once you get used to it. You can learn to hit Great skillchecks or you can tap the gen which is not that much slower and avoid skillchecks altogether.

Yes. We've all had to pay for the sins of others in this game at one time or another. That is the sort of community atmosphere that the game has cultivated.

If you look at older videos (late 2016, early 2017) of Dead By Daylight, you know why the survivors didn't beat up the gens back then.
In 2016/2017 the game ran on a different engine and it handled lighting and volumetric fog very poorly. Also you can't brighten the game as a player anymore. They got rid of the moonlight offerings. Now you can just control the amount of fog. So lighting is fixed and if it gets darker a lot of players are going to have problems. Tons of people play this game on low resolution settings so if you make it darker then people aren't seeing much of anything.
-
Not all the killers do this, ofc, but I've seen it a few times already since yesterday, and I only played like 7 matches since. I was the last player alive.
Welcome to the Game!
Seriously though, you're gonna see that happen till the majority of people have seen the kill. It just came out to live and most players do not play the ptb where survivors were just killing themselves on the entity on purpose. Also, now you know what it feels like when killers were just stuck in games with survivors refusing to leave. At least you hardcapped at a 4min wait tops. You don't know the pain of being stuck in a game for 45+ extra mins because survivors just wouldn't leave.
-
You're getting to keep your addons and offerings. That's more than enough.
-
I just wanted to point out that with the leak about the next killer, we are one killer away from having the entire Slashstreet Boys cast in DbD.
You'd have to deal with the script writer for the Friday The 13th movies who controls the licensing for that franchise and he already killed Ft13 game.
-
With the way the power and addons are currently working Distressing should add to it just fine.
-
These addons do not increase TR, but increase the innate tracking range of Killer Instinct itself. For some reason they decided rather than giving legion any speed addons they'd make addons that allowed them to track outside the range of their TR. Not by much though. Think of it like this: Killer Instinct and Legion's TR are two circles laying on top of each other. You can expand KI with the addons to be slightly bigger than your TR. You can also just increase your TR and then stretch the KI a bit further out of the increased TR.
Theoretically you'd have tracking on par with doc, but due to the nature of Legion's changes you'd be far less efficient even with the extra tracking.

dont listen to the players that say legion is dead and pig is dead. legion goes at the same speed as other killers, and pig had to change as they said she was an end game killer so they had to change her traps.
Legion did get a buff to his movement speed, but took nerfs to everything related to his power. They went far beyond addressing the moonwalk and adding general counterplay to the killer. Legion is overall just less effective with feral frenzy and one of the things that people were using to sort of take the edge off being so heavily throttled was max cooldown build. The response was to immediately nerf the cooldown addons so Legion could no longer get the cooldown below 3.4. Legion starts with a base 4sec cooldown and now can only get it reduced to 3.4, but originally before they suddenly changed the addons we could get it to around 3 flat or 2.8secs. Which made the frenzy attack cancel chase with normal walk speed and m1 feel much better.
Mending with all the changes to how killers interact with deep wounds and how Legion specifically can't interact with deep wounds anymore means that the bleedout is no longer a threat. Since bleedout was a big part of applying pressure to survivors with it now not being any sort of threat you get a place where using your doesn't feel good.
25% vault speed reduction, 25% frenzy speed reduction, and no way to gain any speed back through addons. Legion's been hit severely, but from a survivor perspective Legion's perfect now because the killer has all the same weaknesses as any other kill, but with the added bonus that they are just less lethal even though they had a power that was supposed to be lethal.
-
Survivors technically have unique abilities through their teachable perks. As every survivor is meant to specialize in a different area of play and has a difficulty rating. The issue is survivors don't actually interact with killers in traditional ways and their only objective is to fix generators. That means they don't really need anything particularly special also they have metric ton of items to diversify their 'role' on the team.
Good luck convincing other survivors or devs that any sort of change that could affect looping or gen completion is needed. People have raised the issue for years now and it has been met with a best silence and at worst complete dismissal.
Gens aren't locked to a single spawning location. They have a few patterns they cycle through. Survivors just tend to spawn near them more often than not.
Again, good luck getting people to agree with changes to the killer's fov.

NOED is the sort of design that should never be in game. Because it rewards bad play on killer side, giving them easy kills AND punishes good play on survivor side (ando no, its not their objective to cleanse totems).
Noed doesn't give anyone anything. You still need to hook someone and deal with saves. The only difference is that at the end of the game the playing field is slightly more in favor of the killer. Right now you have infinite time to go find and break a totem. When EGC comes then you will be forced to make calculated decisions should you let a noed happen.
I'll never understand where this 'noed is free kills for bad killers' logic comes from. The perk isn't a mori and isn't a team based rancor.
-
You're gonna hold that punish for getting your locker juke read or being caught in the act. Now as for Luigifan's issue, that shouldn't happen and could probably be remedied by better centering of interaction points. Though lockers ideally shouldn't spawn next to windows in the first place, but the spawning rules for terrain objects is seemingly just a mess. Animation cancel wouldn't actually do much for you as if you get animation cancels you're getting recovery frames. That means you're still getting hit.
-
Don't put that thing out. Just delete him if we're still getting the majority of what we tested on ptb. I'd gladly take a hastily made M1 killer with a totally different power as a replacement.
