And what if there's one gen or no gen left? Do we just let that survivor die on hook?

FYI if there's 5-4 gens left then the hook timer will eventually expire and it'll lead enough time for Bubba to find another survivor and facecamp them.

With one on the hook and three people free to do gens you can finish three gens in about the time it takes for that person to die and be started on the fourth. Bubba's not invincible he still has to catch someone and is weak to all the usual survivor strats, but you can't make a mistake. One person needs to keep him constantly in chase so the other two can power through the remain gens.

It isn't a great solution, but it is the most optimal solution for the situation. You also have to accept that in the end you might die while your teammates escape, but that is ok as well.

Then what's the counterplay to a face-camping Bubba besides the killer making a mistake?

    Doing gens

Insidious is one of the worst killer perks in the game. It’s only apparent use is for face camping Bubbas, and even then it’s not really necessary.

It does exactly what it is designed to do and does it quite well. Now what it is designed to do, isn't very interesting. Like this is a perk that done the same exact thing since day one when we used to slap it on mikey and just play hide and stab around corners.

So Insidious works just fine, it's that it isn't the most engaging. It's not Territorial Imperative which doesn't work well at all and even when it does the information it provides is useless. Or Monstrous shrine which does nothing and isn't even a meme perk like Insidious.

Not all these perks gotta be great, sometimes the meme is enough. Especially when it is a generic perk.

but why should I or anyone have to wait 4 minutes of watching my character whine and bleed on the ground?

why is that ok?? yes it will end eventually... but that's just really toxic behavior.

go off though defending it. this is why so many people are quitting.. everybody is supposed to be playing the game to enjoy themselves.. but instead, we have to be jerks to each other and make things -unnecessarily miserable-

I have played this game for years.. and it didnt used to be like this. just so remorselessly toxic and people dont even think there is anything wrong with it.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/M17MROZ3ROPL/image.png

If you think the game didn't used to be like this for the entire 6 year run then you were just lucky to not get into the game where it has been exactly this since 2016.

  • EDIT: also this happens with killers too, with some Nurses mains using range add-ons, or Blights, tunneling, eating DS and then hitting you on hook even if you played super fair without Dead hard.

^That's from your post. I'm not trying to start anything, I didn't add or remove any context the last time I posted as I quoted you directly.

If you meant something else other than what was conveyed in your opening post i.e. things written in later posts I haven't been in this thread watching it.

  • There is no confirmation specifically for that perk. It's not even one of the most used perks for killers according to the data they showed in the article. People are just saying that it will without any proof of that.

As you might know, Dead by Daylight’s META (most effective tools available) has been an ongoing topic of discussion for some time.

  • So stating my stance on the topic is condescension or is it my responding to your snide remark?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/326606/bird-lady-has-too-silly-story-for-a-killer-anyway-to-change-it

Her story is about one step removed from Candyman. He was also a victim, an artist killed by an angry mob whose hand was cut off, and after he was brutally murdered he too became a killer. It's a standard horror trope also see in folklore. For example, Japanese onryo, who are often traumatized wronged women who kill as ghosts.

They are some similarities, but overall her story just isn't good and DBD keeps adding female killers with overly tragic backstories. It's over done specifically in this game.

Huntress, Nurse, Plague, Spirit, Artist, Hag, and the Twins all have these horrifyingly tragic backstories, but women can have more diverse entries into the entity's world than being a victim of violence or essentially just taken/tricked by the entity.

There is something to be said when least tragic figures are Amanda from Saw and maybe Huntress.

If we can't get female killers that are just as cool as Trickster then I don't know at this point then I don't know what to tell you. Loss and victimization is only one route, but women are capable of maniacal evil without any of that as a catalyst same as any eldritch horror or male murderer. You can even tell some interesting stories for a female killer when you position them as someone who has always been in control and powerful.

With the Artist her story doesn't even make sense in some places.

Why does the entity specifically want her?

Why would a businessman hire an artist whose made a show of being very anti-capitalist?

Why did the entity feel the need to turn the Artist basically into bird?

Now granted the entity is supposed to be an esoteric existence that doesn't necessarily make sense to the human mind. That said, I find it low key infuriating that an Artist concept was squandered on a killer who was completely robbed of their agency and potentially never really had any agency to begin with considering it seems like her entire life was engineered by the entity to keep her going through tragic losses for its amusement. It's not her story at that point, it's the entity's. This could have been an exciting and colorful killer yet this is what we got. A killer who was robbed of her voice, her color, her agency, and ultimately her chance to be exciting. The best thing about her is the map and honestly if you deleted Artist and told me the map was a made for Plague or Pinhead I'd almost believe you be cause simply put, it's just what the entity wanted to give her rather than something meaning for Artist herself.

I will say again, it isn't good.

  • @EvilSerje said:

It thing Artist is great by concept, but her story and motivation as a KILLER is terrible. She's just some victim, not a killer.

While no one is paying attention, can I suggest to add some points to the lore, like when she's tied to a chair and crows kills every one, SHE FELT IMMENSE satisfaction and gone on a killing spree, murdering everyone in her wake, until fog embraced her. At least something like that, so she could be felt as a killer, not a survivor.

I've mentioned that her story isn't good for a killer in the past. Then again she also mechanically isn't a very interesting killer as well so they could just throw the design away and that would be great.

    Hello, everyone.

First of all, I want to tell beforehand that this is NOT A TROLL post. I know it is common belief the game is survivor sided and survivor is easier role. I won't argue with that, but hear me out.

I'm trying (and I even could say "tryharding") to get this last achievement for more than half a year, and I'm completely desperate. Playing survivor for me is super stressful and depressing.

This month I tried again to put a lot of effort into survivor, grinded to Iri 4, and stuck on that for a week alredy. And 13th of the month is very soon.

The usual scenarios are these (in order of probability):

    1. I'm downed and tunneled/facecamped to death. Depip.
    2. One of teammate is tunneled/facecamped to death. Teammates dawdle and don't do gens, I manage to repair two, that's not enough, depip.
    3. One of teammates doesn't like something and ragequit. 3v1 always a loss and usually depip.
    4. Teammates go do crazy book challenges, throwing the game fast.
    5. Killer is really good and keep constant pressure. That's a fun game, and even if it's almost always a loss, not always lead to depip, but almost everytime no more than blackpip.
    6. Killer is new or not skilled, but learning and don't camp. This is the only scenario where I can get some pips.
    7. Teammates are SWAT SEAL commados and looping prodigies, playing the killer like a fiddle. That could also get me a pip if I'm not interfering and play support role (I usually do most of the gens, unhooks and heals by myself). This is the rarest chance, I was matched with such survivors only a handful of times.

I made post about it few months ago on Steam, but people either mock me, or discussed how that is impossible, or gave advice that, sadly, are not that something I don't know already.

To show that i'm not pulling your leg, I add link to my Steam profile, where progress is shown.

    https://steamcommunity.com/id/cptorgazmo/

I watched lot's of YT streamers (Ayrin, Naymeti, Dowsey) and still cannot get what they do that I do not.

As a killer, I'm trying to notice what survivor do when they give me a hard time and when they are easy to slaughter. Could only say that hard time is only with the extreme gen efficiency and super-highly syncronized actions.

This achievement will soon drive me crazy. Playing survivor is painful by itself, and getting to rank 1 is like crawling naked on broken glass.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Pushing to rank 1 is just harder to do as a soloQ player. DBD is weird that way as your personal actions have an upper limit to how much they matter and the closer you get to rank 1 the harder it is in general to pip due to multiple factors, but what will hold you back the most is scoring as you need to really start getting near maximum point values in each category.

If you want to get the achievement you will likely need to start or join a dedicated premade team

  • @Leonardo1ita said:

I don't know why, but it seems that the more time passes the more survivors are becoming more sadistic, tbagging, flashlight macroing, rage quitting when a bully failed, slurs in chat. Even when you play fair and you don't camp or tunnel.

Do you have any idea why?

Also, for some reason the word "sadistic" is banned from the in game chat. Why BHVR?

EDIT: also this happens with killers too, with some Nurses mains using range add-ons, or Blights, tunneling, eating DS and then hitting you on hook even if you played super fair without Dead hard.

It didn't happen this consistently in the past, I swear.

Nurse mains using an addon qualifies as sadistic?

Again, that is a separate team who are working on it at a reasonable pace so they don't burn out their workers.

I don't think combining Blindness and Oblivious is needed, Blindness just needs to do what it's supposed to do: make the Survivors go blind.

How? Hide their HUD and make the Red Stain invisible

Hiding the HUD is arguable even more useless as this is one of the few games where the HUD doesn't contain any particularly useful intel that survivor couldn't do without.

Mm perhaps basekit BBQ, but without aura read and only gives the stack if you are 32+ meters away when unhook happens. It's something without being a buff at all.

That won't help anyone, people who hardcore face camp aren't concerned about points.

    @Syrup1080 said:

Okay so I'm fairly new to the game, roughly 100 hours on steam and a couple years back I played on console. I know when someone brings up 'face camping' everyone is like "oh you don't even know what that term even means". Well playing on steam on a new account I end up running into bedrock, absolute new players who don't know how to play and consistently only have 1 perk equipped at tier 1 because they don't have any levels in the killer. Nearly 1 in 3 matches starts off with the killer staring the first hook in the face as close as possible and it's not even like finishing all the gens and then going for the save really helps because nobody has any of the anti-camping perks (BT, DS, etc.) These perks are necessary and without it, going for the save just means that person gets downed instantly and rehooked instantly. Also some of the randoms get pulled off the save because they aren't aware of cancelling the animation and taking a normal hit is necessary. Perks shut down the face camping strategy and weeds it out of the playstyle of killers who are still learning or are frustrated with long chases and just want to play boring and not even get awarded enough bloodpoints for it to be worthwhile. Yet nobody has the proper perks to deal with this pointless 'strategy' so the baby killer who is face camping gets rewarded with 2 kills minimum and more when the survivors try to get saves without the proper perks.

I believe that if the hook timer is paused when the killer is just standing there could go a long way but it would need STRICT rules on how it works otherwise the higher MMR players could abuse the paused timer by keeping the killer within range and forcing them to "camp". Because proxy camping sucks, but it's actually the only option for the killer if all 4 survivors are hanging out having a party around the hook.

I'm sure the devs will figure it out better if they do implement this or even have it require some PTB to fine work it, but..

If the killer is within 8 meters of the hook for more than 10 seconds and not in chase, the hook timer is paused. If the killer remains within 16 meters (kindred distance) for 30 seconds, the timer is paused unless in chase. If the killer is in chase before the 30 seconds, the timer is 1.5 times speed meaning you only have 45 seconds instead of 60 seconds while on hook. However if the killer is in chase after the 30 seconds, the timer is 0.75 times speed. these 10 seconds for 8 meters and 30 seconds for 16 meters shouldn't restart if the killer quickly enters chase and ends chase.

This would make face camping literally impossible as the survivors could just do all 5 gens without a worry about their friend dying on first hook. Additionally the survivor if on second hook would be hit with never ending skill checks and could still lose time during the pause if they miss so proxy camping could still work in a situation that it's needed. With the 1.5 speed on the hook if the survivors have the killer in chase within the kindred radius only if the chase begins in the first 29 seconds of the hook, it would be a deterrent for survivors to try to loop the killer around the hook for a quick save knowing the timer is paused. However if the killer continues to camp after the 30 seconds then the timer is slowed when in chase to give survivors the opportunity to get a rescue from a camper. I personally think this would make camping possible in the right situations, giving the killer a benefit to camp in the beginning of the hook if in chase since at high MMR you get 1 hook near the last gen or something and it's just too good of a play to not stay where you are, however if the survivors just run away and relax, the timer is paused and nothing is keeping the killer in the area other than the possibility of getting a trade rescue for a down.

Let's say that killers start to camp further than 8 meters away for the first 29 seconds knowing they can camp a hook state for half of the duration, knowing that if the survivors try to stop him that it would be 1.5 speed of a hook, and then leaving the moment it pauses. That's only if he is in chase within kindred distance, you can sneak around to get the high risk save like you normally do with the BT DS and the rest of the alphabet of perks.

Currently it's a pain to get into the game for a number of reasons, and partly why the community doesn't know what face camping truly means is because they just don't experience it enough because a much smaller amount of people do it at higher MMR without it being beneficial in the specific scenario they are in. But I being not necessarily absolutely new to the game but playing on a very new account with low MMR, I face players that just don't know any better and get kills because the people they play against also don't know any better on how to deal with it, which is even less likely for them to have the ability to properly deal with it through perks that they don't have. I'm not saying my solution is perfect or even the only solution but it will fix the low MMR face camping absolutely and not make high MMR too survivor sided as camping is necessary in specific ways.

They aren't going make hook timer stopping basekit because we've tested it before and it immediately got abused and made the experience even worse for the hooked person as they would never die until the end of the game. It was bad for both sides while not fixing the issue in the slightest. That is why it is a perk with specific limitations.

People who hardcore face camp from moment one will not stop doing it until it is completely impossible to do and that is a scenario that can only happen with changes to the core gameplay of killer itself which seems unlikely after 6 years.

Basekit BT is basically confirmed. The real question is what are killers getting, if anything.

It's certainly not "basically confirmed". Saying that sort of thing is going to cause mass confusion if you don't support it with evidence and the devs have confirmed nothing other than some nebulous baseline tweaks and 40 perks are getting reworked along with the ten meta perks.

  • @Obelt said:

So with the 40 perk rework incoming baseline changes will also be made to prevent tunneling and camping from being meta i do believe that BT will be basekit for survivors but not DS or unbreakable cause that might be to strong idk what basekit change they could give killers maybe something like a shorter EGC or bloodwarden.

What are your thoughts on what should be included in basekit changes

BT isn't becoming basekit. Same with Brutal Strength.

The devs have been pretty against just folding perks into universal basekit and its not even the best way to address the issues.

    Makes sense in theory, but

Bond is a thing? Like Bond is 100% perfect information and has an even longer range (36 vs 32)

Survivors don't need to know where each other have been, really - all that's important is knowing where your team is and what they are doing so I really don't understand the point

It's like if Killers had a perk that showed the auras of hooks that survivors have been previously hooked on or something. I just can't wrap my head around it lol

Speaking of how I'm hoping it works, my theory is that scratchmarks do not count as aura reading and thus are not going to be affected by blindness which is an edge case i know, but it could interesting to run a counter intel build.

  • @Brokenbones said:

If any changes are being made we might hear about them in the coming tuesday since that's typically the day BHVR is most active in posting announcements and stuff like that.

Haddie's perks are a bit odd though, I can't wrap my head around the one that shows you the scratchmarks of your teammates. Like...

What's the practical use for it? Anyone know?

Seeing your teammates scratchmarks can give you an idea of where they've been and where they are generally going. It gives you the same ability to track survivors as the killer has innately so the idea is probably to give people more tactically useful information in the moment. It's not as exciting as Nancy's Fixated perk as that gives you a 20% bonus to walk speed and shows you your own scratchmarks which aids in stealth play and generating misinformation.

  • @DemonDaddy said:

    Hey BHVR devs,

Would you consider a special ptb event. Provide options for various match settings and functional effects. Give players access in a kyf like mode for feedback on community interests.

    Adjustments like:

    Base % for gen regression

    Base repair speed

    Fog intensity

Event items like blight pods, aura collection, and Margarita generators

Test mechanics: searching for generator parts, environmental dangers, pve offerings

    # of zombies 😉😉

    (Insert idea below) etc.

Just throw it all out there for use and let the community feed you data on the "fun" sweet spots we create.

I think this would do really well in highlighting key features for future development.

They've already said that anymore than two zombies isn't happening specifically due to performance issues. Bob and Jules barely function at just the two of them as is.

Can we please have an advanced filter for Match Making? I don't want to point fingers at any specific platform, but I'd honestly like to be able to not play with Cheaters. Console/Epic users or Steam users with VAC/Game bans(regardless of the game). I don't stay in games with people blatantly cheating and i'm sick of getting a high DC penalty.

Sure I can turn off cross play, but then that would disable me from playing against players on other platforms all together.

Back in the mists of ages when this game was p2p and could packet sniffed super hard, we had a third party program that let people make lists of players and let you know when you were in a lobby with them.

This immediately went from filtering out cheaters to filtering people who used killers who played characters others didn't like and survivors who were good at the game. Queue times started to balloon after a while.

They really don't have much variety in their gameplan as you usually only have two viable ways to play with one of them usually just flat out being better than the other in every way. Older killers designs used to ship with things that let them completely flip the way you approached playing them. We don't get much in the way of Sniper Doc, Scratched Mirror Myers, Thousand cuts Legion(RIP Frank's/SWS), etc.

Nothing helps new players other than time spent playing the game. New players can't even really use DS unless they start by playing Laurie Strode.

  • It's fine on both killers. Most people don't use light burning enough to really see if it is problematic for them.

  • People miss it, but keys should have never functioned the way they did in the past. An multiple people shouldn't be getting out through hatch early. Keys are very fair now that they function as a last ditch effort for whoever has it, but only for them alone which makes more sense and just feels much healthier for gameplay overall.

So if i run Pentimento, haunted gound, since this one give two totems not just one, and two other hex totems, would that count as my five once pentimento was activated?

I'm having a bit of trouble following what your asking so I'll just break it down like this:

Hex Pentimento does not care about what other totem perks you bring. Five dull totems spawn in the match no matter what, it does not matter if you bring hexes or not those five totems will spawn.

What Hex Pentimento does is very simple, if survivors cleanse/break the totems that spawn you can go to that broken totem and rebuild it as a hex totem tied to Hex Pentimento that gives out a debuff. Bringing extra hex perks just increases the chances that survivors will be more inclined to cleanse totems. It's probably going to be pretty rare that you will ever rekindle five broken totems into Hex Pentimento totems as it depends solely on whether or not survivors will cleanse the totems and if you can protect the Rekindled totems you do get.

Well, not before August for sure.

June - New Chapter is coming. Anniversary event is at this month.

July - Mid-Chapter. And we know they are planning change meta and rework prestige system, those changes should come with this update.

    August - RE Chapter PTB.

Prestige and perk reworks is tentatively later this summer

Six years, we’ve been in The Fog. It’s surreal to reflect on those early days, where the playable characters totalled to four Survivors and three Killers. Considering the size of today’s roster – which has officially welcomed newcomers The Dredge and Haddie Kaur – it might be hard to imagine a time where the perk pool wasn’t quite so deep.
As you might know, Dead by Daylight’s META (most effective tools available) has been an ongoing topic of discussion for some time. Since the arrival of our SBMM system (skill-based matchmaking, also commonly referred to as “MMR/Matchmaking Rating”) we have heard concerns about an absence of variety within matches, with perk repetition often cited as a primary grievance.

Mori rework is tentatively around Halloween according to what they said on stream, but the article is a much less defined statement of "tentatively later this year"

Since we first announced a Memento Mori rework during last year’s Anniversary Broadcast, the Design Team has been prototyping and playtesting several different options. Today, we are thrilled to share details on an exciting change to the mori system, tentatively slated for release later this year.

So I would say don't expect those to be during the next mid-chapter patch.

There's literally skin where that is exactly the case cause the entity legit fused them together.

  • Habitual defaults are hard to unlearn.

It's the same reason people still call Legion a "he" when they are a "They" in the most literal sense as they are made of 4 people.

  • It wouldn't really be broken, but it wouldn't help you either. It would at best just put you in a position to be repeated farmed to death.

Balance wise, this perk needs clearly stated limitations and the only one that would make sense is having it be a one time per trial use which at that point you enter into a situation where it is just an extra hook state.

  • Nemesis' power doesn't count as truly ranged, it's more of an extended melee as its can't travel that far.

Some mobility killers have 110 as well. Along with Hag there's Spirit and Nurse.

There could be a case that could be made for changing Spirit and Hag to 115%.

We know they’re the bane of your existence. They make games not fun. Would you prefer to not deal with them if it means longer Que times but more chill games with solo Que players?

Some argue removing SWF’s would kill the game. Personally I think the game will be fine and thrive long term. What do you killer mains think? Would you rather take that chance of the game “dying” for more fairer games, if it means you don’t have to deal with the headaches of SWF’s anymore? The four DH’s, DS’, and flashlights with the clickety clicks and teabags? Would it be worth it to role the dice?

They could still play KWF- they just need to find a fifth. Then the 5 of them could take turns playing killer, abiding by the unwritten entitled rules, then see for themselves how unrealistic having fun as a killer is when dealing with a SWF. They’ll see what it was like to be in your shoes. Wouldn’t that be nice?

So the devs plans are to “bring solo Que survivors to the level of SWF’s.” Is that what you guys want? Are you really going to find SWF’s 1.5 in the form of buffed solo Ques fun?

SWF CAN make the game unfun, but they aren't always unfun. The game would most definitely suffer if people couldn't play with their friends as when the game launched you couldn't play with your friends without basically sniping your way into their lobby. That actively made queue times pretty bad for everyone and then people didn't play for as long per session. Like it or not SWF is a major reason this game has had staying power. The game isn't necessarily balanced around the level of potential communication though so it can really hammer a lot of killers best features if they rely on stealth, but there isn't much to be done about it. As for bringing SoloQ up to the level of SWF that's one of those things that sounds good on paper, but will at most maintain the status quo as most SoloQ buffs will be just as effective on SWFs.

    Stop Complaining About Unproblematic Perks.

    Stop Complaining about Unproblematic Killers.

    This goes for both sides.

You are probably not as good as you think you are.

    Stop.

    Crying.

    And Get Good!

Ah, the weekly tone police thread.

People will find ANYTHING to complain about on the survivor’s side. The killers cried until COH became useless despite the perk going threw a few changes already, DS got a hard nerf thanks to killer main complaints, and now Dead Hard is probably next on the chopping block. But wait… How can the same people complaining about all of these Single perks fail to realize the killer side has things that are probably far worse that haven’t been fixed even though they’ve been BIG issues?

    HUG TECH

    SLUGGING UNTIL BLEED OUT

    ALCHEMIST RING

    BUBBA FACECAMPING

    NOED

    TUNNELING

These are just a few I named that have been a big issue and it feels like the devs haven’t even put in an effort to address these problems.

They've said Hug tech is a bug they are working to fix

    Alchemist Ring is fine

They said they're working on ways to make camping less advantageous, but it's a complex issue that requires a lot of work.

Noed is fine, survivors has all the tools in the world to counter and actively choose not to use them.

They said they're looking into ways to make it less advantageous, but like camping its a more complex issue than folks give it credit for.

Slugging till bleed out is working as intended for better or worse and there are several perks designed to combat it. It should be very clear at this point that if you're expectations are systemic changes to this then you're expectations are too high.

    .. So.. Concept is good..

Might want to rethink the design a little. Looks alot like a giant running around naked and happy to see you.

That's the best part. The apparent happiness.

  • I don't want to do the grind required just to sit there and burn perks, addons, and offerings. There is no incentive to doing and exclusive rewards are rarely worth the trouble. Can't theorycraft new builds with charms and cosmetics.

  • The golden toolboxes actually do something, but no one has figured out how to actually interact with them.

now what i mean is a character each instead of what we have ie one dwite one clauded one jill and one jake

it would help stop toxic teams that use same character so you don't know who's who

ps if any thing is spelled wrong im dyslexic

There is no real reason to cap duplicate survivors as there is nothing unique about them in terms of gameplay. You're really just picking a skin. It would also interfere with people playing the game effectively as lots of players only get perks on a handful of characters.

  • Bond. I play mostly solo Q when I play survivor and Bond is by far one of the best perks to have that I never see anyone else using. It baffles me because I see so many players complaining about teammates not knowing what anyone is doing when if just one person brings Bond...Boom! Suddenly, everyone can see exactly what everyone is or isn't doing and coordinate appropriately.

I honestly think Bond is better to have than DS, BT, and DH.
