Right, but, what do those totems do?

Those totems... make them 2% faster? Let them pick themselves up if and only if they're slugged in the radius? Take away scratch marks?

None of those are all that incredible an effect, and they're something you can pretty easily play around. They're not even permanent, survivors have to spend more time lighting it back up if it's kicked. They're designed to be a small but noticeable buff survivors want to keep up, and that you can choose to snuff at certain moments to drag more slowdown out of whoever brought the boon in. If you make boon totems that fragile, the only one that'll be even slightly useful is CoH and the core design the rest of them have would need to be thrown entirely out of the window.

I've went against so many killers who ignore boons for whatever reason, Survivors finding a totem and picking whether to bless it or cleanse it for a benefit sounds pretty balanced, either way the totem breaks. Instead of survivors camping it and re lighting it over and over, it doesn't take as long as you're trying to insinuate

  • @jesterkind said:

This wouldn't be appropriate for most of the boon totems, though, because they're designed around being continually snuffed and relit. Nobody needs Dark Theory to stay snuffed after it's kicked once, for instance, and even the stronger ones like Shadow Step are only useful to the survivors if the killer is also nearby.

There's very good design reasons not to make Shattered Hope basekit.

If you have 4 people against 1 lighting up totems the whole game it's a nightmare, totems shouldn't be a default, permanent safe haven every game unless I waste a perk slot

I quess it's slowly coming back to normal games. I wonder what will be his avarage pickrate after he gets fixed, probably still decent.

Maybe players play him less and less because how buggy he is and also maybe getting bored of him.

NGL his power idea is really cool, his use out of it is simple and boring, i kinda wish he had more to him

I used to hate Dead Hard, don't get me wrong. I hated how it gave distance and made loops impossible. Thanks to its recent change though, that issue is no more. After using it in a few games (thematically, Carlos can tank more than 2 hits 100%), I gotta say, now it's woefully unfair on Survivors, but not because of the perk itself, but rather server desync.

In order to effectively use it, you either have to rush a Killer and use it in hopes they don't know you have it, use it in a state you know the Killer can't bait it out (Wesker dash, Billy Chainsaw, Bubba Chainsaw, etc.), or use it properly by timing it, and praying to the Server Gods that desync doesn't hit you and the game actually realizes you used it.

I can't count how many times on both my hands and feet I've used Dead Hard, knowing I hit it before I went down, and it never worked. I feel, personally, its smaller nerf needs to be reverted and it should grant a full one second of Endurance, so it's more fair overall. It can still be easily baited, and it gives more of a chance for others to use it.

Still won't fix Auto Dead-Hard scripts though. :(

    git good

  • @IsMmrReal said:

Too many killers are just eating the Endurance and the DS stun because there is no real punishment for doing so. 3 seconds isn't enough to make killers respect it. It makes for terrible gameplay and ruins the game all together. I am mainly a killer player and I find this to be boring to do and unfun for myself as well. I think DS deactivating at endgame is fair enough. It is legit open season on the scummy gameplay with how easy it is to tunnel with this change.

    git good

  • @Gary_Coleman said:

I honestly feel like people didn't give RPD a fair chance. I hated RPD the first couple of times I played it. Once I started figuring out the layout I thought it was a lot of fun, regardless of what role I played on it.

A Twitch streamer probably dislikes the map and all of their followers probably agree so they can fit in.

Probably, i played the 2 new versions and they aren't horrid but i definitely do not like them in the slightest, everything's blocked off. it's horrible

  • @TheArbiter said:

Lemme change my statement, btw this map sucked for bad killers* ** there you go

I like RPD. Majority wins though and thats why everything is boring.

see this person get's me, thank you Gary

  • @SoulKey said:

Survivor want it easy ? Dude this is one of the very FEW maps that both sides agreed on hating it regardless of balance.

And btw this map had so many GOD pallets along with 1-2 insane semi-infinites, so saying survivor wanted it changed coz of balance is kinda ignorant.

just bring brutal strength, like i said the only issue i've come across is sometimes hooks are hard to get to

  • Why do you hate it though? All i've seen is "i can't find gens" or "i get lost" when the map literally doesn't change to begin with, so that statement is confusing. The only one i understand is the not being able to get to hooks as killer, that's happened to me a few times

Lemme rephrase, i stated that i have been getting him over and over again on survivor, my guess as to why is because you can use his add ons mostly the whole game with little to no repercussions. Then i guessed what i think they would ever do to him if they were to give him a type of nerf. Wraith isn't that good, thats why i said noob magnet, probably the easiest of the originals to use.

Just reading your replies all I have to say is this

Your experience as killer on the map doesn't represent the whole playerbase, this is from some one who can navigate the map perfectly and personally I don't have a problem with the map, that being said I know I'm in the minority, and I'm not gonna pretend like I'm not

I am well aware that my say is gonna do nothing, but that doesn't mean i can't state my opinion, ive also been playing for years

  • @Aneurysm said:

Almost everyone hates RPD as it is. You can blame the other side all you want but few people like playing on it as either side.

It's usually survivors who complain about it, yes killers complain but me personally i don't see why, Nemesis is fun on it, wraith, trapper especially. Like i said it's a bunch of excuses to not have a challenge, Even the doors in RPD do not change.

And that doesn't at all change the objective size of both maps.

Both have been clearly seen beatable on both sides. Maybe because it's not as easy case by case is why this response is prevalent, and it all runs back into practice with different builds etc. NOPE gotta be easy pz for the baby survivors

I was mocking the mindset of people like you because it doesn't really make sense. While there are a lot of horror icons from other universes, dbd is not the same thing. You may know the layout of the map just fine but it doesn't make it great in dbd just because it was similar in another game.

I played original re2 way before re2r and I still hate narrow indoor corridors in dbd. Not to mention how getting hooks was also super problematic on that map, both sides complained about it. And some of us play both, stop with the vs mentality.

The game is Killers vs survivors what do you mean?? The map is designed to have narrow hallways mainly for nemesis's zombies because they move slow in the game and if they weren't trapped into a wall the zombies would help you on this map, any other like farm or something you just walk around them. They were strong because they blocked off paths unlike other maps

Are you actually saying Wraith isn't bad? His best Add-On don't even get him out of C tier

If you use the right build and add ons he's pretty strong. He's one of the ones that needs a entire overhaul like the trapper. You can choose which and when to use his benefits unlike other killers where there's usually a downside to a power.

The only one with Wraith that annoys me is the constant ability to just cloak and permanently go 100 MPH through all the maps

as i said, i don't think the redesign made it better. but i am happy to see that the devs are starting to see RPD as a problem because it certainly is the worst map in the game by 500%. would rather play the swamp every game than play good maps for 99 games and RPD once because the map is just THAT bad.

People should be complaining about the Swamp being the most boring, horrid looking map to play on. NOT RPD. Entire thing is obnoxious to navigate for killers but you don't see any complaints from survivor mains thats for sure they love hiding in a big open GREY map with tons of loops and big grass everywhere

  • @Kaitsja said:

I've got around 1300 hours, really liked RPD as a big RE2 Fan, but even I could see it needed to be smaller. The map was needlessly big.

I've been playign since 2016 and plenty of hours with numerous testings of changes with this game, this change imo is so unnecessary and dumb as #########. It's just another sad excuse to make survivor mains stop crying and escape every match, god forbid we challenge anyone in a game anymore

  • @zHypnotism said:

I literally threw every game on RPD, for both survivor and killer. Haven't played RE2, have no interest in memorizing a whole maze with changing walls where aura reading is useless and gens impossible to find as survivor while i also can't recall how many survivors i've dropped as killer because i couldn't make it to hooks. I don't even think a rework / redesign cuts it for this map, i think it should be removed from the game entirely as i never had fun for a single game while playing this map...

THE WALLS OR NOTHING ABOUT IT CHANGES OMG LOL, the only thing that changes is the Gens swap positions slightly and thats it

I’m sorry but am I only one that thinks killers are just too op now? I mean getting one hit by the bell guy is annoying. All the killers are pretty much guaranteed a win. They wanted to make this game more balanced but in all honesty they made it more for the killers. If you main survivor, good luck. Your not winning much. Killers abilities are used and abused since they have ABSOLUTELY no cool down. They can spam and re use over and over again and us as survivors just get the crap end of the stick. Used to live playing this game with my squad but we’re looking at switching to Friday the 13th. Good luck anyone that sticks through this game

    prob dC's on "hard" map

  • @ThatOneDemoPlayer said:

    ...

    What did I just read?

RPD - the original - was miserable for both killers and survivors. The new one is...better, it just needs a few tweaks to pallet placement.

"this map sucked for killer" "This map is too big" really? Suddenly all the other big open maps aren't OP then? Yall just making excuses, ive always had a fine time on survivor or killer for this map. Every person i see complain about it, takes about 1% effort to challenge themselves, IT HAS TO BE EASY. It's pretty old at this point, the maps prob gonna disappear eventually like ST did too so and then ill be even more disappointed

The real question is what did i just read tbh

  • @ThatOneDemoPlayer said:

The Map was too big, it was basically 2 Red Forests stacked on top of each other

Okay then so look at the new Haddonfield. Should be change that too"? The only difference between that and RPD is it's just OPEN with houses and perfect for survivors

  • @TheArbiter said:

Ummm this map sucked for Killer lmfao

I've never had a problem on killer for this map, sorry yall and others can;t hang, use some navigation?

  • @tippy2k2 said:

So you're the one who actually likes RPD 😅

All kidding aside, there were very very very few people on either side of the coin that liked RPD. I had even said when it was first announced that the RPD was a huge place in the game and would be way too big for a DBD map and that was proven correct. I'll still play the map because I just let the RNG chips fall where they fall but RPD is very rarely an enjoyable experience for me on either side of the game...

So people don't know how to use navigation suddenly? Or traversal killers? Killer should be the last complaint here IMO

But what can we do to fix her weaknesses?

    1. TV cooldowns are too long. 60 s after Sadako uses a TV / 30 s after a survivor turns off a TV seems reasonable to me. Adding a few more TVs per map would be incredible and not crazy, when compared to how many lockers the Dredge gets to use. The balancing act is making interacting with TVs rewarding enough (encouraging survivors b/c they can take away Sadako's power) but also dangerous enough (because having condemnation stacks is risky). Right now there is a huge reward for very little risk.
    2. Demanifesting is Sadako's only reliable chase power, as it can be difficult to teleport mid-chase, assuming her nearby TVs are available. With buffed Condemnation she can remain a standard M1 Killer with a side objective as built in slow-down. But if possible, a nice change would be that she is not stunned by pallets while demanifested. To keep her stealth power unique, instead of a speed boost after manifesting perhaps killer instinct within X m could be a reasonable way to improve her chase potential. More TVs in general, with more uptime, would make her teleportation easier to use mid-chase.
    3. Condemnation needs to be a relevant secondary objective that survivors cannot just ignore all game. When compared to Pig's Reverse Beartrap boxes, Pinhead's Chainhunt, and soon the Dredge's Nightfall, Condemnation does next to nothing to prevent survivors from sitting on generators. Nightfall is not exactly a secondary objective but a significant time period where the Dredge's powers are buffed and survivors have limited visibility.

    A. Passive Condemnation builds within X m range of any TV. Even if survivors ignore TVs, passive Condemnation build up will ensure that at least 1-2 time(s) during a match they will have to remove a tape and insert it in another TV across the map.

    B. Ring Drawing add-on could be base kit. Spreading Condemnation stacks through healing helps build pressure on survivors to interact with TVs instead of their primary objective of generators. An alternate change would be that getting rid of your 3 stacks of Condemnation actually spreads those stacks to other survivors. As suggested by Dowsey, this seems thematically appropriate as showing others the cursed tape was the only way to save yourself.

    C. The UI could show the level of Condemnation stacks better for Sadako, as it is information that could influence who she targets next. In addition to this quality of life change, Sadako could gain buffs / survivors be debuffed at certain levels of Condemnation. That way, Sadako can benefit from Condemnation before her mini Mori. Examples could include: 1. Survivors work on generators X% slower with each stack. 2. Survivors become hindered upon reaching X stacks. 3. Sadako can Manifest / Demanifest X% faster after X total stacks on all survivors. 4. Upon reaching 7 stacks, a survivor becomes exposed. These are just examples.

It feels like the Dredge is Sadako but better. While I don't believe she's terrible, the direct comparison definitely underlines her many weaknesses. She doesn't need a complete rework IMO (like being able to walk through pallets while demanifested) but right now survivors can hold a lot of her power hostage at almost no risk.

There needs to be more pressure of her power by default. you can completely avoid it as of right now

  • @SuzuKR said:

On several occasions, you have stated that hiding and refusing to attempt to repair generators while the hatch has not spawned (thus making it impossible to start Endgame Collapse) is against the rules because it is refusal to participate in normal gameplay and holding the game hostage. You have stated it needs a video report and can be potentially bannable on a case-by-case basis. That is all fine and dandy.

However, for the one stuck in that game, there is no good solution that currently exists in the game's base line. If a person does not happen to play a killer or run perks/add-ons that would have helped in this situation (eg, Doctor, Whispers, Iron Maiden, etc), they are just screwed. Survivors who intentionally hide in this manner also intentionally avoid AFK crows from spawning by walking/crouching around/swapping lockers/etc to give no possible information if the killer isn't lucky enough to be close by at the time to hear breathing or locker door sounds or whatnot.

Are there any plans to make some sort of in-game feature to deal with this? I am curious to hear on that, and if not, I would like to ask you to consider it, as it can end up in absurdly drawn out games of 10-20+ minutes of nothing being done and not being able to find anyone, especially on larger maps. It pretty much only gives an option of DCing, AFKing, or playing until one side finally gives up.

You know how many people exploited Michael Myer's Tombstone pink by a locker? People will just run to a locker because they know you can't mori them despite charging the entire game. I still got it dealing with that plus It just never dawned on me it would take so long to make it so a grab out of a locker in that situation would just still mori them anyway, not force you to hook or drop

  • @Crowman said:

You can just play Myers/Ghostface or run other expose perks and get the challenge done. You don't have to down survivors with expose from Dragon's Grip itself for the challenge.

You don't?! oh well i finally did it last week anyway, downed like 3 with Dragons one game

  • @pandorayr said:

Dragon's Grip and Oppression need a buffs

Both perks has a cooldown for a 80 seconds, this makes inconsistent perks for current game, I think the ideal changes is reduce cooldown to 60 seconds.

Neither perk in this game should have any positive or negative effects for more than 60 seconds.

I agree, that challenge for this Tome was a nightmare, once a team knows Dragon's Grip is on a gen after screaming, they won't ever touch it again. 80 seconds is such a long ass cool down for the 30 sec timeframe for them to tap the gen or you get 0 benefit

    Tunneling is off the charts!

Finally got that book challenge because was matched with 3 SWF bully squad and killer was fresh.

    What i wanted to say

SoloQ is literally unplayable, unless you're some pro tournament streamer. Devs should get up the nerve and make a statement: survivor gameplay is supposed for friend play. SoloQ is not meant to be and it's at your own risk. No problem with that, many quesions will be ceased immediately.

System requirements: internet connection, PC/Xbox/PS, 3 friends

Let me give an example: Hunt Showdown. You play 3 vs 3, or 2 vs 2. You can go solo agains duos and gain "underdog" bonus, or agains trios and get super "underdog" bonus. So solo is officially left for streamers, tryhards and challengers. Everyone fine with that. Why just simply acknowledge the same thing in DbD?

That awkward "you kinda can play Solo, but kinda can't" is really disorienting.

    Another thing that stumbles me

Why many perks switches off at the EGC? It's like "You lose, but you can play well and go to the end, and then lose anyway". Why? Why killer is obliged to have win? There's some quota?

Some perks make it literally impossible for the killer to stop you during the EDC, it's not that confusing. So it HAS to be that way then? no lol

I understand people threatening to leave DBD because their fav perks got killed or because sitting on a gen for 90 seconds is just boring, but I completely lost interest in DBD since I already know what killer it's gonna be while still being in the lobby.

Did people forget there are other killers with unique and interesting abilities? What makes you pick legion over and over again? Or maybe it's just my personal MMR invaded with legion mains only?

Is anyone else facing the same killer over and over again?

P.S.: the legion invasion hasn't even been that bad when legion and ghostface got buffed, but now it's a literal plague.

These buffs that killers got is simply too much. Most people know this. I'm fine with killers getting some much-needed love, but I don't think it's ok when they buff something so much that it makes playing as the other side a miserable experience. I don't care if I escape or not... the game sucks right now. I hope we can get some fixes soon so everyone can enjoy the game.

No it's not "too much" idk what your MMR is but i still get really good teams who can escape without any 2nd chance perks, Killer also got changed not just survivors. Some killer perks now are simply not useful anymore
