I'm usually drunk when i play DbD so running a Huntress with iri heads would be harmless to survivors. 😂

Wouldn't it be harmless because hatchet hitboxes don't make sense?

Legion and Plague suffer from a similar root cause of their problems: they have been designed with survivors in mind, rather than how they play for the killer. They are part of something I touched on at the start: the devs trying to solve problems with options like perks and new characters rather than core game tweaks.

The Pig is the same, along with Legion and Plague; a main-power meant to slow down matches and give survivors something else to do other than gens, rather than actually present a threat. So Pig's RBTs are rarely lethal, Legion's Deep Wound is removed quickly and Plague's affliction doesn't even need removing.

Compare and contrast Billy, with an insta-down skill-shot ability that can take him across the map in seconds. Beautifully simple. By comparison the other killers mentioned here have convoluted powers with unintuitive rules.

I'm not aiming for a list of buffs we think are necessary in this thread though; but debate on what currently limits killers unnecessarily and which can be restricted instead by higher skill-requirements. I for one am full of bad ideas and don't want a single one making it into the game, but alone I'm not able to determine what is a bad idea.

They still need some attention, because they suffer when they don't need to.

Well, then. Jungle gyms need some nerfs (I for one, do not find them fun to loop because it's just a pain), as well as some survivor meta perks. (Adrenaline being the biggest issue).

    Totem placements on most maps.

Haddonfield needs to be removed until it is properly balanced.

A secondary objective needs to be added, such as stopping natural entity corruption, or something. Totems don't really count.

A lot of perks need buffs on both sides so that the Meta isn't the only selection that matters.

The list could go on, but these are the biggest issues in my mind.

  • Sure, when survivors talk about Adrenaline with honesty, I'll be more than happy to talk about NOED...

  • Well, it's designed so that if the killer comes by when you're searching, you're less likely to be found out. It's not designed to stop them from knowing what you're doing.

I do think it needs a buff though, maybe make it so that the items you get are always good ones, like Plunderer's used to be, but only medkits. That way it has its' niche.

  • Some killers have ears, and will hear an injured survivor much better than a healthy one. Why are you complaining about this? Some people don't want to be done in four minutes. Especially not killers like myself.

  • Each survivor actually has a different level of volume for their sound effects. Jeff is loud all the time, while Ace is really quiet. Some cosmetics also look really nice.

I want to main Laurie, Nea, Jeff, or Ace, simply because I like the look of Jeff's sweater and Laurie's Prestige, but Nea and Ace are really quiet when uninjured (Ace is even more quiet).

  • I think it'd be cool if there was just more content like the intro cutscene. Hopefully archives delivers this.

And now this is actually accurate to console because of them adding Bill!

  • Technically yes, but not very reliably. You should be wary of being to close. Killers can hit through windows normally anyway.

  • I'm not a fan of the slower movement speed. It extends chases when it doesn't need to. I think due to the unreliability of hitboxes, that Huntress should get a movement speed buff, but that's about it.

  • I agree. It needs some change, at least so that it cannot be abused by SWFs. It's practically useless in Solo, so why not orient it around solo play?

  • Legion, Wraith, and Plague need some attention.

Legion: Self evident, but this is probably the weakest killer in the game. That's a shame, because I'd love to play them more. If their frenzy could down people if played well, then that might make them more enjoyable. Like you have to hit them 4 times in frenzy to down, but you have to time your swings, and getting pulled out of frenzy or losing the survivor mid chase would stop you. Something to make going in Frenzy worth it. Frenzy should last until you down a survivor or cancel it. It should be able to swing multiple times, since it's a frenzy.

Deep Wounds needs to be removed from Legion. The Devs balance their kit around it, making the other parts of the kit weaker in kind. Replace it with a marker, like the DBD logo so that survivors and the killer can tell how many more times legion has to stab them in Frenzy before they go down.

Wraith: This guy is so weak... it's laughable. Invis that survivors can see coming from a mile away. Changes I'd make:

    1. Make his invis worth it. Make it so survivors can't see the shimmer outside his normal TR distance.
    2. Give him an attack from invis, something that's meant to be a surprise. It would have a way longer cooldown, but it would give survivors a reason to look for the shimmer instead of waiting for the warning bell.

Those are the only things I'd think of at the moment.

Plague: Being broken just isn't enough. They have to have an amount of time before it makes things even worse. Make it so they have to cleanse in 2 minutes after being broken, otherwise risk suffering from Dying status. This timer resets when healed back to injured by another survivor. This would give Plague corrupt purge eventually, allowing her to use half of her kit that's usually denied at higher rank play (people don't cleanse at high ranks).

    1. You must have missed the post from the mods two days ago showing the weakest killer on the weakest map had a 54% win rate on. I've seen your posts, the posts that are completely oblivious to stats, win rates, anything that doesn't fit your agenda.
    2. So? Just because he said that doesn't mean its law.
    3. The meta for the whole game is stale af. Its the same perks used on both sides. The same killers ontop for god knows how long. The devs don't seem to care about shaking up the meta too much. In fact they have reinforced the meta with buffs to perk tiers.
    1. I'd love to see those statistics, because that just doesn't line up with my experience in the game. They probably put in Rank 20 to rank 1.
    2. He set up the thread.
    3. Well, yeah, but why should we change from certain perks if survivors rely on certain perks? I'd be way more in agreement if all perks were viable, but a lot of survivor perks are very underwhelming. Most killer perks are balanced and viable (in a niche way), although Remember Me is the one I think needs to be buffed. I'd be willing to not use NOED if every survivor didn't use Adrenaline, but wait, NOED can be deactivated beforehand. So it's a very small chance that my Adrenaline counter will actually work.

This is exactly why this power as so many down side compared to the positive aspects. The survivor Do not get any speed buff, damage negation or even stealth.

So, they'd woosh like the Spirit does?

  • I agree. I would love to see more perks in play. It just gets boring. Especially when playing legion, they're all injured, then the last gen goes and: suprise, they all have full health again... It's dumb...

  • @PepeHands said:

Why are we only "nerfing" survivor perks? Killers are well and truly ontop in terms of win rates.

If you cared about balance you would be asking about killer perks.

Not asking what could we nerf from the weaker side.

    Why? Here:

    1. Killers are the weaker side. They've received way more impactful nerfs than survivors have. Freddy may have gotten his rework (which I think is equal in potential power to pre-rework Freddy), but Legion is still stupidly weak, just like Wraith. As long as killers have to rely on survivor mistakes, they will always be weaker.
    2. He said leave "but what about killers" to another topic.
    3. Doesn't the meta of Adrenaline, BT, DS, DH/BL bore you from a survivor standpoint? I as a killer would love to see new perks in the limelight, like Distortion, We'll make it, or any number of perks that aren't those 4.

Well tbh it's up to interpretation but I believe the campfire to be a sort of beacon for the survivors hope. Tamed but not controlled by the entity and in a world where the breath of a deceased collegue can allow a decripid nurse to blink, what could the power of hope do ?

The power of hope... it's supposed to be miniscule to the power of despair, of fear, that the killers are supposed to bring.

But, the Entity always wants more hope to consume, so who knows if this would give it.

  • @Hehemhem said:

Offtopic: What would you think about a 2v8 in which it isn't possible that tow people chose the same killer.

    I think 2v8 might work well. I don't see how it couldn't.

  • I mean, with the way killer is set up, it couldn't work now. Since killers can only go solo with the current mechanics.

Maybe if you could kill with friends, this concept could work. I'd love to see Legion be able to have multiple people as them too. Since it makes sense lorewise.

Are you kidding me? Catch one person. Linger around hook. Tunnel off hook.

"Its hard to pull them off".

    Wow

Have you gone against a really good team? They'll swap out so much that it's impossible to get one hook. Or they pick maps like Haddonfield with great RNG. when that happens, you'll never get a hook.

To get a 4k with a red mori is very, very difficult in high ranks. Sometimes it happens, but that's usually due to survivor mistakes, not Killer skill (i.e. the main problem with most killers anyway).

  • Maybe not the calm spirit change, but having hag traps not trigger when walking might be nice.

Calm Spirit already works against infectious fright. It works against all screaming triggers.

Less puking doesn't make sense. From a biological standpoint or a lore standpoint.

  • I wish there was a way to derank legit. I hate being in high ranks. Maybe I'll just go stalker wraith.

  • Actually, there would be an advantage to those who could hook up a keyboard + mouse over those who can't use anything but a controller, so no, I don't think that should be allowed.

  • Yeah... just wait for rank reset. Although you can still work for them, just make sure you understand the emblems first.

  • No. I think he should get a movement increase when revving and when chainsawing.

  • @venom12784 said:

Why would it matter if they where swf or not. You still lost. You didn't lose cause they where swf you lost cause you didn't do something right.

From my understanding once we have dedicated servers all for survivors will load in at the same time like swf does killer lobby dodging alot less likely do to swf

It would matter because SWFs have a clear advantage to non SWFs, which ups the difficulty immensely. Especially in red ranks.

  • They need to at least make more survivor perks viable (not like prepatch MoM, but viable).

Noed does not need any changes, since most of the time totems are destroyed. There is no reason not to cleanse them.

  • He is incredibly weak. His power doesn't help down people, when every other killer's can (even clown's bottles can if you have the redhead pinky). Deep wounds does nothing, it takes too long for it to be a threat. Feral Frenzy also takes way too long to recharge and the cooldown is obnoxious.

I want to play them (I've prestiged them twice, after all), but I just can't because the current setup is frustrating. Some perks work well (STBFL + BBQ), but there are very few things you can do to slow gen progression, and if they get to end game than you've already lost.

  • @blue4zion said:

Or even more Statuses. Don't know if they should remove some stuff like Exposed, but neat Idea.

Exposed should be just for the killers to influence, but other statuses should be interesting.

However, maybe it could get rid of the signs for it when used, but not actually the effect, lulling them into a false sense of security.

  • Halo, Bloodborne, Dark Souls, TF2, Valley... I've got quite the collection. : P

(I play DBD on Xbox, but I do have a PS4. I used to be able to play TF2 on my laptop, but not anymore.)

  • This would be interesting... but I think that with the current setup for killers, that this would be hard to work with. I'd like to see it pass though.

    The Blunder Special

You have a tendency to always mess up your achievements. Any time you successfully cause a Killer to miss an attack on you in a chase, immediately bump into something you weren't looking at because you were too busy 360'ing the Killer. Getting hit within 3 seconds of bumping into something will put you into the dying state automatically/cause you to DC/uninstall your game.

"You'd think after learning how to be a 110 M1 Killer, I could mindgame a rank 16 Wraith." —No Mither, No Problem

    Best Teammates NA

There's a reason you're stuck in yellow ranks. When put into the dying state, 1/2/3 Survivors working on generators will immediately leave the generator and start Urban-ing around the corners of the map.

"I looped a Nurse for a full minute and you guys got NOTHING done. Bravo." —No Mither, No Problem

    Object of Depression

It doesn't matter the precautions you take; that stupid Claudette screwed your entire team over. For every objective you do that hinders the Killer's abilities and Perks, the chances of another Survivor activating them anyway for them to be used on you goes up by 10/15/20%.

"NOED?! I cleansed FOUR TOTEMS and you spastics couldn't find ONE?!" —No Mither, No problem

    I'd run these. XD

    Especially Object of Depression.

  • I have a decent few:

No Trust: You have an inherent mistrust of others, and tend to be more cautious. If other survivors are within a radius around you, actions overall are slower, however, there are less skill checks. When you are by yourself, your action speed is accelerated, and there are more skill checks.

"Why should I trust you? I don't know you." - Raven

Too Much Knowledge: You have an understanding of the Entity, and it drives you mad. One of your point groups (except Survival) will change to one of three choices: Endangerment, Sabotage, or Neglect. You will not know which group has been changed until you start losing/gaining points. Endangerment is if you make actions that endanger other survivors. Sabotage is actively fighting against other survivors' efforts on generators, and Neglect is the opposite of Altruism. You start at max points with Neglect, and will lose them for Altruistic actions.

"This is what it wants..." - Raven

Saboteur: In your confinement in the realm of the entity, your madness has convinced you to help the killer to try to achieve your own freedom from the cycle. Every time you miss a skill check, you gain a token. For each token you gain, you get 1000 points in the Objective category, as well as regression penalties increasing by 2% on each generator. With 5 tokens, every missed skill check will expose the aura of any other survivor working on the same generator to the killer if within the terror radius.

    "... Sorry ... not really ..." - Raven

I hope they come up with something cooler than "The Teacher". Even "The Dentist" sounds scarier.

As far as I know, Teacher is just a codename, like Bear was for huntress. That may not be the final name yet.

Another thing, there are those strict medieval christian teachers which are terrifying. They are cruel, impatient, and merciless in application of the rules, and always have a strange set of rules to follow (at least to modern people).

Personally I think it's more likely to be a necro mancer

I was referring to the fact that "Split lip" and the Spirit would be similar in design: Both malevolent Japanese Spirits.

That might be cool. Have them resurrect the spirits of past survivors... (I mean, do you remember the spooky t-pose survivor soul glitch?) or you can surprise people with the souls of survivors you've killed in a match? Both lead to interesting possibilities.

  • I see no reason to have a cap anymore, since there are so many perks and stuff to get. Of course, this may be changed by the next updates' bloodweb changes. We just have to see what the Bloodweb changes are, of course.

    this is the new killer

Kuchisake-onna (口裂け女, "cleft mouth woman\Slit Mouth Woman ") The Kuchisake Onna, or split mouthed woman, is a popular figure in Japanese folklore. She even shows up in many modern day urban legends. She often appears wearing a surgical mask to cover her mouth, which has been ripped open from ear to ear. She will ask unknowing passers-by whether or not they think she is beautiful. Often they will say yes, and she will remove the mask, showing them her torn face and ask again. If the person says no, then she will rip their face so it resembles hers.
There are different rumors about how to avoid her killing you. One is to say she is average, and another is to ask her if you are beautiful, in hopes of confusing her so one could escape while she has to think about what to do next.
The stories of Kuchisake Onna came from the Heian period Japan, where there lived a very beautiful but very vain woman. Her husband thought she was being unfaithful to her, and cut her face out of jealousy.

Seems like that would be a more likely option. However, we already have Spirit...

But I would play that one a lot because they look like Jeff (the Killer). : D

The good old "Teacher killer :D" meme.

Peoples speculate about him since 2016, and for nearly ALL killer's release.

Can't believe that those false icons in the In-game files could troll nearly all generations of DBD players since release.

    Also this idea stinks.

Teacher killer ? Bwhahaha nothing scary nor interresting about that, i personally don't understand.

We already got a pedophile with Freddy, it's pointless :p

Nothing scary about a teacher killer?

Clearly never went to a Catholic Private school, the ones run by those awful nuns. : P

  • Haha... no. You don't see them when you're awake, and good survivors will throw them down if they know they're fake when not in a chase. There are also maps with few pallets that make him hard to play on those maps. There is no reason to complain about them.

  • @HatCreature said:

This particular thing with SWF won't be a huge deal. SWF is still unfair for Killers and this won't make them stronger. TBH comms is the only thing about SWF that makes them powerful and there is no way to get rid of that. They can be coordinated on voice chat and that's an edge that the Devs cannot get rid of.

The only real way to combat SWF is to make the Killers stronger. All Killers are good at 1v1 but not all of them are good at 1v4 and the Devs said they have to take certain steps before balancing the Killers to their level. It just can't get here fast enough because the more bad Killers they choose make the worse the game gets.

Maybe... but I still think that should be addressed... : /

Well, that would be ideal, but unlikely to happen...

That's a weird way to spell Julie.

  • Moris are fine as they are. It's hard to pull them off if you're in a high ranked game anyway, so it's really a non-issue.

  • In the lore of the game, survivors only have access to what the Entity deems necessary, such as perks, items, and offerings. This perk would break that because it gives a power that a killer already uses, which would be a big no-no. The Entity doesn't want survivors to have access to what killers do.

Then again, a survivor created the Hatch, so what do I know? Maybe one survivor could discover that kind of secret ability, but why would they want to teach it?

    So many questions...

  • @Exerlin said:

You're paranoid. It's just a QoL update, and will make queuing up as survivor faster. This also might make killer queues shorter since survivors will be spending a higher percent of their out-game time queued up instead of gathering everyone, so it'll probably benefit you as well.

Maybe, but then there's still the issue of SWFs having no downside to their communication advantage.

  • @Jdsgames said:

How about giving them an repairdebuff for every page, that is missing

    0 collected: 90% repair-debuff

    1 :80% repair-debuff

    2: 70% ; 3: 60% ; 4:50% ; 5:30% ; 6: 20% ; 7:10% ; 8:0%

So they have to choose, how much Power there are willing to give you.

I would give him 105% base Speed + 2% for every Taken Letter. giving him 121% on all Pages.

This would be quite good, an incentive for survivors to make the killer powerful, kind of like the Plague, but in a different way.

However, since pages are exclusive to each survivor, the movement idea will have to be scrapped. I just wouldn't know how to properly balanced that.

  • @prayer_survivor said:

I love the ideas of new killers, so thanks.

But "However, survivors cannot escape without getting all pages" allow killer to camper a page and the game is over.

Not really? It's not something that can just be camped.

Sure, theoretically, it would be hard, but he can't stop every survivor from getting every page. They'd be too scattered, and you can't determine which survivor has found which page.

Every survivor must find all pages for themselves. It punishes those who would gen rush without finding the pages, since those who found them all could just leave. 2 minutes to find 8 small pieces of paper... I wouldn't envy that.
