Heres a question for people appealing to the kindness in killers.
Have you every received that kindness from random survivors when you're losing as killer?
Survivors sadly proved themselves unworthy of mercy.

Their usual argument is either "I'm on console" or "1v1 doesn't mean anything, game is 1v4" even though I'm literally only testing the 1v1 chase aspect of Spirit.
To be fair, whats there to test for the 4v1 version compared to the 1v1? Especially if its CWF..
The progress the other 3 survivors are able to pump out in generators?

The fact that Spirit averages so many kills than normal across the board should be an indication that something is wrong with the killer -- not that there's a problem with the entire population of the game.
If it was the latter, every killer would have a much higher kill ratio.
Uwuuu, the top killer got nerfed, discouraging many people to continue playing her, thus many people settling down for the commonly as second strongest perceived killer, which was spirit, thus resulting in especially the good killers playing her. Thus more kills and "overperformance".
Also if the other killers didnt suck so hard compared to "good" survivors, then there wouldnt be so many players flocking to the "strong" killer.
-
Reducing a cooldown with these devs/survivors? Glas you added a joke option.
-
Sorry, but it ceases being a mindgame once you can see the killer preparing his move. A prediction is not necrssary if you can just react.
Rock-Paper-Scissors doesnt work if there's a 100% reliable tell to your move. (Psst, thats what *some* survs want added to spirit)
-
Its baffling how killers need to be addon dependant while survivors are balanced for going in item less.
Kek, the game would be more balanced if sirvivors were balanced around using all items each. Yes. I am aware a survivor can only bring one item out of four. Fishing for triggers.
-
The sad truth is neither of those two options.
As long you outlive your fellow survivors theres always the hatch waiting for you in its allmighty glory, rendering generators useless.
-
This is just a theory, but i think spirit is overperforming due to the nurse nerf.
I think it mightve been a common reaction, even for good killers to (temporariliy) ditch nurse for the next best killer. The influx of people playing her combined with the all to common lack of interest in adaption of sirvivors then lead to her "overperformance"
Many of you mightve already heard of this, bits its a vicious loop of nerfing the top, the players going for the next best option and repeat... sigh
Its not the first but already the second round.

He's not streaming anymore sadly. He was my favourite, now i'm mostly looking Tru3, Otzdarva and Monto.
Strange, Im sure he's currently going for a killer hardmode series of streams. Today at 9 am (germany) he was playing live... he's also commentator on tournaments the last few weekends (spaceesports)
-
My Opinion is slightly biased, but the game isnt even designed for a 4v1 situation. Thematically, and by original design, its more a "1+1+1+1" vs 1 , and somewhat balanced accordingly. Thats why SWF and more heavily CWF shift the game's balance. (not to mention that NONE of the advantages of SWF happen intrial, and none INSIDE THE GAME for CWF)
The 50% escape chance or 2E/2K balance goal sounds weird too, "The game is balanced if the killer on average fails to do half his objectives, while 2 survivors fail too"... The Cointoss analogy is even worse, A solo survivor absolutely wins if 1 of 4 coins (his own) lands on ESCAPE, SWF has varying goals of "the killer doesnt win, hahahaha"... and for the killer to reach an absolute win, survivors need to land 4 of their 4 coin tosses on KILLED (this is backed up by the emblem system giving depips on 3kills)
-
Spirit nerf confirmed.
A new killer will stirr the killer community the wrong way, be it underwhelmingly bad designed, eye candy, viable or a JOKE in game.
You dont simply cut down the top and expect everyone to rejoice at at DLC replacement top tier killer.

Imagine if they released a perfectly balanced killer that people didn't complain about?
NEver gonna happen
Thats why i am stocking up on fries, there will e salt incoming anyways ?
-
Releasing a bad killer now would sour the killer comunity's mood. Unexpectedly releasing a strong killer dlc right after gutting the top 2 killers would be even worse.
-
As soon as survivors get a visual indicator for her location as a nerf, she'll be ready for the garbage-bin until a rework...
-
I can already tell that any "all surv info -> one surv info" will never happen due to the cwf-debate, survs are already lobbying for info on the level of external programs, there'd be riots if current info gets reduced.
Your concepts are all fine, but only take the basic game mechanics into account, not the current meta of survivors.
-
Sorry, but when the devs have to give her 2 speed limiters, the visual indicator and 2 "perk"-addons, the devs clearly ran out of ideas for useable addons.
Case in Point: being punished with being a 115% killer for 60 after hitting a survivor... Why choose to play nurse when you wanna chase at 115% after a first hit, play wraith or Legion instead. The UR version with 4.2m/s makes atleast somewhat "slightly" more sense.
OH. right before the patch hit live, they also nerfed the cd-addon, so she cant even get back to "old nurse".
And the best part about the nurse rework is that ALL discussions ive yet seen about the topic fail to include the reworked blink-reappearance: Nurse is now visible "slightly" earlier after blinking before being able to attack, making it easier to dodge her, adding more to the nerfs to her chase potential.
-
Probably because that'd mean redesigning the customisation page
Other point might be because there are some abilities that simply arent tools but only floaty special effects, or nothing all.
- The Shape, GF, Legion, Spirit have no replaceable special effects, not even from their own pov.
- Plague needs to stay color coded to identify her current state, cant give her rainbow puke.
- Doctor's electricity might be replaceable
- Nurse only has those particles in her left hand and the white movement blur of her blinks.
- Hag... Got her triangle on the floor. Much visible , such wow. Demogog's portals seem similiar, but lose their flair if replaced.
- Clowns shouldnt want to see their bottles that often (only can see them clearly when reloading, which sucks)
- Wraith, Trapper, Billy, Pig, Bubba, are the only killers who could have " cool" replacement tools that arent just glowing special effects like doc or nurse.
-
@MJ_Out said:
God, these "mimimimimi, nurse is GARBAGE now, mimimimimi" are really annoying. Cannot believe that u guys are serious. She is still strong and her new addons are awesome. I don't play her often and in green ranks and violet ranks I still get 3ks and 4ks. So pls stop this nonsense.
She has 2 "speed limiters", your opinion about the addons is wrong.
-
Entity would need to think up new trials for a telltale game though... Might become a tad too repetetive for a story driven telltale-style.
The first episode having 3 near identical trials happening in a row might be a nice setup to get the player into dbd's story tho
( this would work for a tv series too)

Not sure if sarcasm ?
For once it's not ? Its a rather good explanation on how survivors should treat spirit:
"Take evasive action as if she was phasing but dont go near the husk incase she's faking" -
Well, there might be people calling this crap because "it doesnt work all the time"...
But these are the people who "want ez loops and escapes all killers"

Sorry I can't help myself here.
Explain why it is important to know exactly when she is or is not using her power?
Because the smart thing to do is to play as if she is both standing still AND using her power. If you are trying to figure which she is doing you already lost. But if you assume she is doing both simultaneously then you can pick the counter options which beat both (or at least mitigate the advantages of both) and therefore you will win the chase more often.
I'm starting to think this is the core issue people have with Spirit. They look at it as an either/or scenario instead of a both/and scenario. This is why so many survivors end up doing the very very VERY stupid move of slow vaulting the pallet into her face. If you don't do that, instead walk away from the husk until you break LOS then start running, you pretty much avoid any option she has where she was indeed standing there. And if she was you now force her to phase walk (or better follow you normally) which, due to the lack of initial scratch marks, makes you harder to track. You will gain distance on her and make it to a safer position. And if she was phase walking to begin with, and you walked away there is a good chance she will waste at least some time trying to track you by the loop, and by the time she picks up your scent again you have enough distance where she can't reach you with the rest of phase walk.
And yes there will be some spots in the game where you don't have any good options so you have to just take a risk, but I don't see how this is different from facing other killers where you are in a bad position. So please don't come back at me with some super specific scenario where the killer obviously has the advantage because that's not specific to Spirit.
Your Schrödingers Spirit explanation is quite good.

While I agree that pig is getting bashed by nerfs all the tme, auto-fail is as lame as free escapes.
Whatever they do, she needs addons like the doctor's files... Each affecting both her rbt/boxes and her crouch...
Pig could use a power bar (please dont kill me before reading the rest).... As a visible timer for when the next trap reloads. That's it, i want her to regenerate a trap every 45+ seconds.
Mostly i think they should re-implement inactive traps killing in the exit.
-
I'll give this thread a golden emblem.
No iridecent because everyone knows it's satire. 😋
-
Cwf sweatry tryhards have a nice meatshield to protect themselves from getting nerfed called "solo survivors"
Cwf's only difference is the voicechat.... There are no mechanical differences ingame between "solo and cwf".
Cant nerf cwf without hurting solo and cant buff solo without boosting cwf.
Cant burn the potatofield to get rid of the toxic waste lol.
-
Aura reading is one of the strongest tweaks possible in the solo-cwf debate (it combines current action plus location, is instant etc)
Though funny you worded the poll like "vote yes or you're worse than hitler"
-
Aura reading in the basekit just a slight qol change. Aura reading is be the strongest buff in the "solo-cwf"-denate the survivors can get in this game. Especially without range restrictions.
A quick flick on the wrist to display all other survivors,' locations, their current actions etc and indirectly the killers location.

You can already hear her footsteps and her breathing
I think survs are just confused that for once the broken sounds DONT work in their favor.
Don't they have expensive headphones?
(Lol)
-
Im not really a spirit player, but this'll break her like any "we can see it now"-nerf.
Shouldn't 99%'ing with spirir be the absolute most stupid thing to do? The blindness starts at 1% cast, and unlike the chainsaw bros she has to stand still.
-
Aside from the obvious "swf breaks thise mode too" and "dont split the playerbase"
Though I think there should be some hidden algorythm to make downright useless combinations unlikely or impossible to happen (Selfcare/No Mither for example)
Well while a "random survivor" button wouldnt be fair in normal lobbies due to preparing hidden nasty item/offering combos , a "random perk"-perk might even be worth putting into the game.
-
OP, by your logic Selfcare wasnt considered nerfed when the basic healing speed was adjusted. But people keep calling it the healing nerf AND the Selfcare nerf. Although only healing time got changed.
Im pretty sure that a high percentage of survivors indeed wants her not only nerfed, but gutted like a legion.
As for the terminology, Im pretty sure many people consider any negative adjustment to weaken X in any game a nerf, even if it was reasonable.
Pony and Fox mightve as well be thread enders here, nothing mich to be added here.
-
Dont care for the survivors fun, theyll never start doing it for yours either.
-
- Solo and SWF are mechanically the same in-trial
- Any buff to Solo will also affect SWF to varying degrees. (100% or higher effiency)
- Survivors dont want the Solo-Swf gap closed, it's the Solo-CWF differences.
-
Maybe undetectablke gets only applied if the transition phase is over?
-
Lets see.
- I'd like to see a prison warden, be it a ~modern military prison warden or a medieval dungeon Gaoler/Executioner. As a Pyramid Head fan this might be a way to get an expy incase we want an original instead a licensed. A personal concept is based on placing traps that spawn walls like the exit blockers.
- Someone classy as #########. Be it a vampire or a gentleman hunting the most dangerous game. Can cross over with the whole Jack the Ripper - theme. (Record of Ragnarok's Jack would fit the design) (if the devs cant rig the face we can always tet another masked killer)
- Some beast tamer. The concept of a slow killer who has multiple attack drones patrolling the map seems interesting, if complex to design.
-
With the current health system I think DoTs arent that... feasible. ( see Deep Wounds)
But if doctor can have electricity, and hag vodoo, not to mention doomy bells or teleports... magic is a rather broad term.
Instead of dealing damage, Fire could also be used as unpassable terrain, similiar to entity blockers on windows/exit.
-
Survivors: "Don't you have headphones?"
Also Durvivors: "Wah, make spirit ez to hear!!!1111"
Yeah, not cool when the bad sound for once affects your side huh?
----
Good job in trying her out. I couldnt get over the whole blindness thing with her. ( and her default hair)
-
Remember as survivor you can still escape with 5 generators left.
Takes off a lot of pressure when you dont need to do your current objective to reach the goal.
-
... It was changed just because of that futility you want to implement back.
-
- No collision
- Obvious tell she's phasing
- Visual effect to locate her phasing, imperfct invisibility
- No scratchmarks
- Louder footsteps or audio cues
"Fun and balanced"So the spirits still has to stand still to cast her ability, cannot mindgame with it, goes in totally blind and isnt even invisible? And asking for working audio? Dont you have "good Headphones" like survivors always tell killers?
Yeah, Im sure that'll work perfectly in gutting her. Slap a fatigue on the reappearance for good measure. (/s)
Edit: Obvious sarcasm.
-
Yeah, theyd be better off with original content based on the stereotypes of popular licensed characters, atleast for survivors.
Or maybe i just dont know popular potential survivors.
( Also how comes theres no Michelle Rodriguez in that list, wouldnt even matter which of her roles lol)

I think the distinguishing point is that all the killers so far have been ordinary humans or monsters. Basically physical beings. To my understanding, Pennywise, like the DBD entity, is essentially a kind of Lovecraftian horror. While he can take a physical form, his existence is metaphysical. It goes beyond the supernatural, both of them are more like gods. That's why it's difficult to see how one could fit in with the other lore-wise without compromising the essence of their character.
"I bet you'd suck at this"
- The Entity, 20 minutes before a very drunk Pennywise accepts a humiliating challenge from an equally drunk spider buddy.
-
Spirit's designed to not give it away.
"Give us a ez giveaway!!!!
*facepalm*
-
Like already mentioned, there are ways...
Freddy had the same thing. The entity managed to snatch him and before he knew he'd have to abide to someone else's rules.
Same would probably apply to Pennywise, while I have absolute no clue about that guy, if the entity would manage to get him into the game, he'd have to play by the entity's rules.
-
Soo, hows spirit any different from rock paper scissors or any other mindgame?
Guesswork is, as you mightve not guessed, integral part of mindgames.
-
If the devs can turn "heal" into "mend" if another survivor is affected by "deep wounds", then I'm pretty sure "kick generator" could be replaced by "overcharge generator" if the killer is affected by "overcharge" and the generator is affected by "regression".
Isnt that only like one additional condition added? Or better ~ignore "cannot kick" if killer has "overcharge".
It wasnt added yet because "waaah tooo OP" facepalm
------
Amazing how vehemently survivors are against stopping that tapping against regression
-
Except the "common consensus" is to buff the poor little solo survivors (who're mechanically the same as good survivors) to CWF levels while gutting the top performing killers' abilitites.
-
Soooo.... Blind killer that can instantkill survivors upon touching them?
You see how its going for spirit at the moment, right?

So fighting a Spirit should just be a complete coin toss scenario every single chase because of the ''1v4'' argument?
Because that's what fighting her legitimately is right now, a coin toss, if you're healthy you have a very small chance to avoid a hit if you somehow manage to confuse her while she's phasing (which doesn't happen against even a half awake Spirit).
I don't like the 1v4 argument because it's an extremely black and white way of looking at it, because what you're basically saying is screw counterplay I have to fight 4 of them so let's just flip a coin and see who wins, while the coin toss is heavily in the Spirit's ballpark mind you.
A coin toss is an EQUAL chance for both sides. It cannot favor any side.
I was saying it SHOULD NOT be like that.
-
@Cyro said:
Anyone claiming Spirit has mindgames clearly doesn't understand how a 'mindgame' works.
Both sides are supposed to have an EQUALLY fair chance, however when a Spirit stands completely still that is it, you now cannot tell what she is about to do, it is a GUESS. It bothers me how people still claim she has mindgames. Scott explained it in his latest video for people who don't want to listen to reason.
As for how I'd nerf her, I'd remove her prayer beads and change how the phasing sound works along with a vaulting animation change, and the whole ''I took my hands off my mouse and keyboard so now you have to play my coin flip game.''
The cointoss scenario (~50%) is fine and dandy in any context if it involved only two opposing forces.
A killer is in contest with 4 people at the same time, regardless if those 4 are cooperating or not. Each of them being in a "fair 1v1" shouldnt be a thing.
-
Funny how only Myers' good special treatment got rewoked. Still cannot bloodlust.
