The biggest issue with this game is the lack of respect people have for each other. It's the only game I've played where people wish death/cancer/aids upon their opponents or even teammates.

Everything you mention are non issues. Nothing wrong with taking the game seriously and playing to win, that's the main purpose for playing games.

I agree that the toxicity from players is a major issues, but everything I listed contributes to it. People are toxic because they feel like they were wronged somehow when a survivor lives and they don't get a 4k.

People feel slighted when someone brings a perk that they deem to be OP (and right now there are NO OP perks in the game, only perks that are slightly problematic in certain situations because big yikes on the Artist + Dead Man's Switch and all those videos I've seen, But still not a single OP perk on its own)

Just play normally. They take me seriously when they start messing around and I just continue to ######### them up without caring about the memes. They try to boop my snoot? Just hit and keep going. Don't interact with the memes if you wanna be taken seriously.

Alternate suggestion: You can realize this is a video game meant for fun and NOT take it so seriously because wanting to meme and boop the snoot has no real life consequences.

Why is this community like this...

  • But you wouldn't need to know what it is at a distance. No one intentionally runs into a boon area when they're about to get downed even in a SWF. And even if you were a solo and you got downed near the boon, it would tell you what it is and if the killer leaves you there instead of picking you up because they want to be a Slugging Sandy, that's on them.

  • VPNs are important when people are getting DDOSed all the time

  • Correct me if I'm but when you're in the Boon radius, doesn't an icon pop up on your screen to tell you what the boon is?

And if that's the case, why is everyone saying this perk is somehow OP in a SWF when literally anyone can walk in the boon radius and figure out what it is for themselves?

  • Unsure how the question was phrased but even people who play both sides (which i do as well) have a side they play more often than the other. So that poll doesn't really show or prove anything

  • Most things on the forums are exaggerated.

I would still run Lithe over any exhaustion perk in the game (and I haven't run any since the exhaustion nerf like 3 years ago) but I think they're all mid-tier at best (dead hard included)

  • Honestly @GoodBoyKaru @Pulsar

Even tho I'm sure I've disagreed with them on a few things here and there (maybe a lot of things), they're usually more level headed and chill than most people here with their arguments

the bubba defense is such a weak argument for the game being killer sided considering in comp the bubba 1-2ks at best

The point is that the killer has always been the one that dictates how a match is going to go based on how they choose to play. And I can do the same with ANY killer by choosing not to hit whoever is going for the save and only grab them when they commit to it and drop them on the ground if no one else is there. Any killer is capable of camping and making the game a miserable experience

  • I actually don't mind it because it typically only catches me off guard when the first gen is about to pop. After that, I know it's in play and I just expect the killer to show up.

  • Blasting music while playing DBD is the quickest way to give a killer with a chainsaw Myers like stealth XD

If that many people complain about dead hard you should at least understand that even though you may not have an issue with it, maybe because you "4k no addons with clown every match", the majority of players DO have a problem with the perk.

The issue is that the DBD forums is an echo chamber of primarily killer mains who believe the game is tilted heavily against them because Devs are supposedly survivor sided when the game is relatively balanced and if anything, is dictated by how much of a sweat the killer wants to be.

I can go into a match as Bubba for example, hook someone with 5 gens still unfinished and already confirm a kill by standing there with my chainsaw in the air. Yes thenother survivors don't have to show up but 1. I've already ruined one person's gaming experience. 2. I've ruined everyone else's because now they have to play gen simulator, and 3. I probably have NOED anyway so I can guarantee a 2nd and possibly 3rd kill. So as killer, I get to choose whether the game is going to be fun for everyone or a boring snoozefest.

  • No one cares. Get over it. The mask is gone

So basicaly this is short. I was playing as the trapper just after rank reset. And i got a 4k and didin't get the adept. Can someone tell me how does it work on killer side now? Thanks for future comments

If someone dies on first hook (whether because you camped them or because they killed themselves), you lose points for not hooking them multiple times. If you slug someone and they bleed out because you wanted to have a confirmed 4k and not leave chances for hatch to spawn, you lose hook points.

So in short, try to 12 hook 4k. No way you won't get it playing that way

  • They don't have to decide anything. the perk is fine

  • Fearing the killer would be like fearing the ghost is Phasmophobia.

You go into the match poking fun at them but it eventually gets to a point where things get serious and you gotta rush to get out.

Also in the sense that fear is completely gone after you pass level 100 in Phasmo unless you're a big baby or really sensitive to jumpscares. XD

    thanks

There's a certain timing to getting a flashlight save that has a very tight window. If you do it too early the blind doesn't count.

I believe the timing is to shine the light AFTER the pick up animation has begun and JUST before the survivor is up on their shoulder. As you get better and fancier, you can even pull off flashlight saves and pallets or when the killer is vaulting a window (that's the most risky)

  • Are you looking for us to play how we normally play or to go for efficiency only, slam gens, and get out?

I ask because I generally wander and look for totems, search chests, and look for the killer to be chased if I'm not getting chased enough.

How did they go down in one shot? I don’t play blight so I honestly don’t know

He has a 1 shot add on (similar to Pinky Finger for Clown and Iri Head for Huntress). The way it works is if you get hit by the hit after his last bounce (i think he gets 4 or 5 bounces), the hit will insta-down you. It's kinda dumb

  • @BlindMole said:

You know what's brain dead? The way you talk about people who might happen to enjoy those killers.

Who put you in charge to decide who diserved their kills or not?

Oh my bad, i forgot people weren't allowed to have opinions anymore. The purpose of the thread is for people to discuss things that they personally respect or don't respect and no one is required to respect anything. In fact, you can scroll through the pages and see that many people don't respect Dead Hard, Slugging, Camping, CoH, etc. People are allowed to take issue with things based on preference

  • Huntress for reasons I mentioned in another thread but will repeat here. She's one of the main killers I respect for her skill ceiling and when she does well, it's actually because the player put in a lot of practice and has amazing aim, not carried by a power that does work for you with little to no skill involved.

You actually have to BE good with her, not just get carried by your power or perks

  • I wasn't even in this game and I wanted to sacrifice myself on hook to get out of it.

  • @Laluzi said:

I really respect Billies who really use his chainsaw and get skillful hits, not just backrevs. Though in general I'm pretty easily whoaed at cool power plays, big brain trap spots, good mindgames, etc.

I think the biggest immediate lack of respect I ever felt for a killer player was back at the start of my DBD career, when pre-nerf Freddy was a thing. They were always excruciating and boring games that took forever to either live or die out of, and he's not a killer that takes much cranial activity to play well.

I do feel that with Bubbas, but I need to see if he hard camps first or if he's just playing normally. Pre-nerf Freddy I just hated to face on principle; Bubba is more of a Schrodinger's Douchebag kind of situation.

I actually agree with this because Bubba is my 2nd favorite killer to play against IF he isn't facecamping people in basements on first hook with 4 gens left XD

But when a Bubba plays legit and chases everyone and actually engages with the whole team, those are some of my favorite matches.

I also forgot to mention Pig. I love Pig matches

  • Having a good chase (killer or survivor), breaking a killers ankles and watching them look around for me, getting chased for 4 gens and then having the killer DC mid chase when the last gen pops.any Huntress match that doesn't have the one shot hatchet

  • I've always had a certain level of respect for Nurse and Huntress players (I believe Huntress has the actual highest skill ceiling on any killer) to the point where if I come across a really really good Nurse or Huntress who completely steam rolls our team, I just take it.

Like.... they're not easy killers to learn so if someone learns them well enough to a point where I feel like no matter what I do I can't win, they kinda deserve it? I feel that way for Huntress moreso than Nurse because Nurse's ability is game breaking but like.... I still respect a good Nurse

  • That was a lot of reading to do including the comments but I of course have pieces that I agree with and pieces that I don't.

    1. As someone mentioned, if you limit a team of a 4 man SWF to having no perks in common, that will encourage many killers to tunnel out players who have perks that they deem problematic. You can see it all over the forums anytime Dead hard, unbreakable, DS, BT, CoH, etc are mentioned. It's as simple as "I saw David get the save and the person I hit had BT. That means if I get David on hook, no one can safely save him if I proxy camp him because no one else has BT." or "Feng hit me with D-strike. Now I don't have to worry about tunneling anyone else because no one else has it" There are certain perks that are pivotal to countering the tunnel/camp meta and having them immediately snuffed out because only 1 person gets it throws the balance completely out of whack.
    2. I agree that the potential and the ceiling an expert 4 man SWF has is really high. I think my only issues with your suggestions is I don't think there's enough expert 4 man SWF teams out there to justify this level of change. The majority of SWFs I encounter (and this is both ones that I've played against and ones that I've played with) are comprised of maybe 1 or 2 at most good players paired with some babies who haven't even learned to look behind them when they run. To limit a team like that to never having more than 1 copy of BT (which is really made as an anti-camping perk for altruistic people) doesn't seem justifiable imo.
    3. I don't really have a suggestion of my own except maybe only limiting certain perks to 2 people instead of 1 and leaving the rest of the perks alone (Because why stop a team from running We'll Make It on 4 people if they want quick heals off of hook saves or 4 people running head on to try and meme around and get a few cheeky stuns which will only work like twice before the killer catches on)
  • I think the main thing we can learn from this post is..... survivors actually run more diverse builds than the forums claim lol

  • @BenihimeWrath said:

It wouldn't really matter because killer hexes do not overwrite boons currently. So you cannot use plaything/NOED/old undying to snuff the boon totems.

Place a boon over a hex takes a lot of time meaning someone is not working on gens. It's a fair trade off.

Survivors and killers both get decent perks, but the meta for survivors is locked around a core of things that can act as extra lives. It doesn't matter how many general healing, information, generator, skill check, sabo, or item perks are added; they're not going to offer the same universal chance of an extra life, so they won't breach the meta. CoH is so crazy strong it can manage it--because you only need one or two people to have teamwide self-heals and potential superspeed heals, shutting down entire tactics with only one person's perk investment.

It's not that Survivors get bad perks so much as it's nearly impossible to add anything that's not even more gamebreaking that would ever see use outside of meme builds.

And hit validation had a bug with power eating (the PTB is supposed to fix it? I think), which was definitely survivor favoured.

I personally disagree because I think there are a lot of (older) strong survivor perks worth running. We'll Make It, Inner Strength, Saboteur, For the People, Head On.

The survivor "meta" perks are literally reactionary perks to tunneling and camping. That's it. It's literally, "If I don't put on DS, I'm going to get hard tunneled. If I don't put on Unbreakable, I'm going to get slugged after I get tunneled because the killer thinks I have DS and is committed to tunneling me, but not brave enough to follow through with their scummy tactics. If I don't bring BT and someone gets camped, I won't be able to save them.

If the campy/tunneling meta didn't exist, no one would run any of those perks because they would be useless outside of those situations. I personally don't run any of them except BT to save people (My main survivor has Saboteur, We'll Make It, For the People, and BT). I'm good for saving other people but I get tunneled and slugged alot because I don't run DS or Unbreakable and I live with it, but after so long, many survivors just say "screw it", tunnel me and see what happens.

If there are equal numbers of escapees and deaths, neither side came out on top. That's just a draw. In order for there to be a winner, one side has to have emerged victorious over the other.

We can agree to disagree on that but as far as I'm concerned, 2 survivors escaping is a win and killing 2 survivors is simultaneously a win. If someone has to lose, it's the 2 survivors who died but I don't think it has to be a matter of one side dominating the other to count as a win

  • @TAG said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2740000#Comment_2740000

Yeah, and the middle ground is "each side wins roughly about as often as they lose."

Also to correct your earlier statement: A win-win is not a draw.

A draw is a situation where NO ONE wins. If you play tic tac toe, and the game ends in a draw, it means that no one was able to win the game. Same for chess. A draw does not = win win. Draw = no winner

...There is alot. Should i explain?

Let's talk the Meta for Example, So far Killers have had their meta changed about maybe... 7-8 times now? Whereas Survivor had maybe 3-4 time's it changed.

Ds took exactly 4-5 years to nerf, whereas ruin / pop both got changed / nerfed (mainly pop nerf) Waaay before Ds was considered to be changed,

The ds / unbreak combo is still the strongest survivor, combined with Dh and Bt, makes the gameplay alot more stressful to know that the killer Now has to try and bait a hit but can't if the survivor is using it to either A make it to the pallet or B Make it to the Window, Making it a hard loss either way,

Boons....Mainly CoH.. i dunno if i should even explain this bs perk,

Hit validation.. HOPEFULLY it's fixed completely...ish, but this has also been in said favor of survivors if they did it right against the killers that got forced into cd after hit,

Perks: So far killer perks.. alot of them has either been nerfed or reworked in some way. some good, some bad.. and plain bad in general.. So far More killer perks have been touched and. For a fair bit Yes, were Good reworks. But the others don't even come close to how it should be.. (Still kinda mad they nerfed Hoarder despite the fact it was never a good perk to begin with)

Whereas Survivor perks. has alot more goin' for them than ever, Lucky break got a good buff. was overbuffed in said ptb but fixed... still does wonders, Iron will Still hasn't been changed and is in need of said Nerf.. Dh also is in need of Nerf. But hasn't been touched along with the others per say,

How fast something gets Nerfed: Lemme break it down.. Killers have had stuff that was good for them nerfed or reworked / removed, let's take a perk for example like.. Maybe Old MoM, Perk was Busted beyond any other perk and it was the Best, if not the 100% Most Overpowered Perk that ever got leaked and Released in it's current State, Keep in mind you couldn't cheese any hits with MoM for killer, since it was always a basic attack. took 3 months to finally nerf it, Now let's take Remember me: A perk that used to make gates take alot longer to open than what it currently does right now, a full 50 seconds to a minute worth of opening a exit gate if the obsession was dead was Huge, Now it got nerfed to 34 seconds... Overshadowed by alot better perks in it's place and it's only use is to have a endgame build.. that's it.. MoM has seen more action than Remember me has, and that's sayin' something,

Still alot more stuff to prove that the game is survivor sided..

I have to address a few of these points here:

    1. The meta. Who cares about the meta tbh? The killer meta has been allowed to change so much because killers constantly get new powerful perks while survivors get like 1 decent perk every 4 character updates. That's not a point in favor of survivors but that shows for favorability to killers instead.
    2. There were so many bad suggestions for how to nerf DS that would have made the perk absolutely useless. Yes it took a while, but they found a good fit. The other perks you mentioned were easier to come to (and deserved)
    3. DS and Unbreakable is an overrated combo that only works if a killer decided to slug and tunnel. If you don't slug or tunnel, 2 out of their 4 perks are useless.
    4. Boons are fine.
    5. Hit validation has been killer favored almost since the game came out. There have been millions of clips of people vaulting a window and running before getting hit by something because the game was run on the killers connection and as far as they were concerned, they hit you. Now it's based on the server connection and it's balanced but hit validation has literally never been survivor favored.
    6. Perks. I addressed this earlier but survivors constantly get garbage perks when new survivors are released versus killers who get perks that are actually good enough to replace things they have in their build.

PvP games are generally designed to have definitive winners and losers. They're not generally designed to primarily end in ties.

Subgenres exist though so a PvP game like Street Fighter or Apex where there can only be one winner can't be designed in the same way as an asymmetric PvP game that has varying win conditions for the 2 different sides.

There's no way to fairly design an asymmetric game in which the survivors always win because then the killers won't play. And likewise, there is no way to fairly design an asymmetric game in which the killer always when because then the survivors simply won't play. There has to be a middle ground in asymmetric PvP games

If this was the case, comp DBD wouldn’t need dozens of rules and restrictions to make it fair at the highest level of play.

I've never paid attention to "comp DBD" (if such a thing exist?) outside of a few tournaments between people like Meeeows, Umbra, Crunchy, Otz, Umbra, Cahlaflour, etc but those people usually play more for fun than the outcome anyway but maybe that's just because I watch people or don't take the game super seriously all the time.)

What rules do they usually have in place?

"I think that's a win for the killer as well as a win for survivors"

    That's called a draw.

So why would that be a game design or balance issue? Both sides (theoretically) should walk away satisfied with a game that ends that way.

Why should the be designed so that most survivors die or most survivors live in place of a 2-2 system?

  • @TAG said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2739925#Comment_2739925

That's still not necessarily true. All it really means is that you should be winning about as often as you are losing. If the vast majority of games are a draw, something has gone wrong with the game design/balance.

The issue I have with that statement (and maybe I'm misinterpreting what you're saying) is that I don't believe that getting 2 kills and having 2 survivors escape is considered a loss for the killer. I think that's a win for the killer as well as a win for survivors and I don't think the two have to be mutually exclusive if that makes sense

  • @Smuk said:

If the game is supposed to be balanced by 2K and 2E.

Lets say its a fair play tame without tunnel/slug or anything.

How much effort would killer need to input compared to survivors doing loops and gens.

Maps are at the worst, especially regarding SWF comms and splitting around gens. So now you have to decide, will you pressure North part or South part of the map. Loosing which side gens is more important to create tight triangle.

How long are the games plan to last? 5 or 15 min?

As long as survivors spawn directly on gens. As long as killer with optimal play trades 2-3 hooks for 2 gens, I dont see it balanced

To get 2 kills, not a lot of effort at all. When I play killer, I regularly walk away with 2-3 kills with absolutely no tunneling and slugging (just because I play both sides and find those playstyles unfun)

As far as match times, a 5-7 minute match is perfect. It should be an in and out experience imo.

I also agree that spawns need to be worked on because they're predictable, all the survivors typically spawn together which negates the offering that's meant to do that. Spawns should be random but I guess they just want to make it so survivors never spawn near the killer? idk

  • this is funny.

    1. I hardly see anyone use DS anymore because it's not that great of a perk and is ONLY there to prevent yourself from being tunneled off and immediately rehooked with no chance to play the game.
    2. I can think of plenty of situations in which you can tunnel someone and still hook someone else within a minute (Twins slug you off hook, knock someone else down with the gremlin, hook them and then come back for you in less than 60 seconds being just ONE common example)
  • @TAG said:

"true BALANCE would mean an average of 2k/2 escapes meaning that in reality, killers should pretty much be barely killing that 2nd person and maybe be working towards a 3rd"

That's not how averages work. :P

I made a clarification comment above immediately after posting because I knew someone was gonna say something about that. It's like.... 2 comments above yours

Jesus. NoED does not 'save you when you get outplayed'.

It's an end game perk, that activates in the end game. It's called 'planning ahead'. Why is that so hard for people to understand?

As for Dead Hard...I honestly think DH should be 2 separate perks:

1 perk dives you distance, but you can be hit if you time it wrong.

1 perk gives you a moment of no hitbox, but you don't dash anywhere.

So when someone bring a perk that can give them a boost to make a pallet, that ISN'T planning ahead but NOED is because....?

  • (Quick clarification: Yes I'm aware that if the AVERAGE is a 2k/2 escape goal, then there will be some cases where it's a 3/1 escape/death or vice versa or even worse a 4/0 escape/date or vice versa but those should not be the norm on either side)

Laughable. I can't believe we're going another update without touching these broken, disgusting perks.

Regardless if you think they're "balanced", or people should just "git gud", or "wait it out" or "do bones", you people need to understand that the majority of players hate these perks. And you need to understand that these perks hold back lots of players from enjoying this game.

If you want to be snarky and defend these perks, don't bother. I've heard all of your arguments already.

Circle of healing, noed, and dead hard need to change.

NOED: Is fine. Actually gets more use with boons in play because survivor cleanse totems less now.

CoH: Is fine. It makes a noise and killers can literally step on it and snuff it when they're in the area. It's like a medkit but sometimes survivors will literally use time running across a map to get to an active boon.

Dead Hard: Is also fine and finally works as intended. (I don't even use it because I don't need it)

None of these perks are OP

I don’t actually care for the masks, but it’s a shame seeing companies bullied into removing content from their games. You have to try to see the funny side though.
