Nope - That's just last second switching (happens at 5sec, IIRC)
The devs are (presumably, eh, @SpaceCoconut @_@) aware of it, but it seems like they'd rather throw out the integrity of their new matchmaking system instead of acknowledging and fixing it.

Yea I'm not a fan of this is either :( But we might get used to it though. But that's a if.
I doubt that I'll get used to people switching to two maps, a key, and flashlight at the last second without any way to react.
It's trash.
-
Daily reminder that last second switching destroys the integrity of the new MMR system, putting Killers at an unfair disadvantage before the match even starts.
-
Expected Insidious, got whining about a perk that requires effort to use/deters camping.
If someone is just going to return to the hook each time, Make Your Choice would serve them better as it's not a hex and provides a similar scenario of 2 one hit downs without being tied to both a Hex and 3 hook requirement to get started.
Mori ability? Fair reward for intentionally allowing 5 unhooks, though people (good players) will unhook just as you're about to get into DH range after the first one hit down with DH.
I guess perks that require fair effort, promote fair play and have viable counterplay (unhook distance/cleansing) are falling out of favor @_@
-
Just last second switch to avoid Franklin's - it's apparently never being addressed and does not violate the ToS, so abuse away!
-
Welp, guess it's an apparent non-issue.

It's how they decided the MMR to work with, we will have to get used to it whether we like it or not, it'll hopefully improve in the long term.
Also it'd be bad if you got a new killer you want to learn but you're matched with rank 1 sweats instead, that's not the way to go.
My issue is that survivors can last second switch to keys/flashlights/maps, which completely negates my ability to bring an appropriate loadout (ie Lightborn, Franklin's, Hexless build, etc)
If every single survivor has the ability to manipulate the game's odds without any way to counter (aside from scummily task managering while loading, I guess), it's a garbage system.
Edited to tag @Almo with hopes this will actually be addressed.
-
There are a lot of abusive people that play this game. Until (if) the devs take a way harder stance, people will continue to use it to belittle, abuse, and threaten others.
-
Any updates on a "lock in" for survivors?

"Don't worry, he's just a noob" they said.
"I Pallot stunned this guy 3 times in one chase" they said.
"Exits open and he's only hooked 1 guy! lololol" they said.
"He'd never leave a trap in the grass by the exit!" they said.
This Rank 20 may have all the Dead by Daylight skills of Potato Mac & Cheese... but he thought to leave a trap right next to the exit. ;)
Regardless of how you play, you are going to get vitriol like this.
Whether you let people go, wreck them instantly, camp, play fair, etc, you're going to be harassed, verbally abused, and mocked.
I don't know if this was actually said or part of your story, but either way, welcome to the community .
-
Failed so hard that every other game that attempts to challenge it literally dies less than a month later.
You can hate certain aspects of the game, company, marketing, etc, but the game is successful, continues to grow, and moris all its competition (you know, people that actually fail at game development).
-
Yeah - Just in time for people to DC constantly and manipulate MMR for easy games :D
-
Ran into a 'sweat squad' yesterday.
Took about 3 minutes to get 1st down (Legion - BBQ / Thana / Thrilling / Mindbreaker...Brown and Yellow Buttons) - 2 gens were done.
This person was obviously their "looper." Camped them out of the game (stopping/deterring a couple of rescues).
1 gen was left when he died.
Mindbreaker was pretty clutch in the 3-Gen, and the last guy got hatch.
30k and a pip - They all ran Meta.
At the end of the game, they asked why I camped that guy in particular - I explained, and they replied with something along the lines of "Yeah, we're a 4 stack, and you're the first person to catch him tonight - He's our looper/keeps people busy while we pound out gens."
They reaffirmed that I had, absolutely, made the right play, which was to get rid of him asap.
It was actually really refreshing to converse with them, as they were able to let me know what each of them was doing at separate times, while also realizing that I'd made the right call in that scenario.
-
SWF is so uncommon that matchmaking has previously been reworked several times to account for its various aspects (ie rank disparity).
@_@

What's the point of this? Do you need your mommy to tell you that you were a good boy who didn't camp?
So much cringe.

15/15 - 100% of my games today have had DC's :(
I've only experienced Last Second Switching on about 1/3, though :)

Oh, it'll get worse and you'll be forced to farm or be called names since you've chosen to play killer. Good luck!
I'm wondering if people are DC'ing to 'save their MMR."

They took out DC penalties again. Have fun.
Just spawned into a game vs Wraith - Someone DC'ed when they heard the bell across the map...
It's never been this bad T_T

Switched to Survivor -
3 games
Game 1 - DC when they walked into a Trap
Game 2 - Teabagging -> Hatchet Hit -> DC
Game 3 - DC as Nurse was about to hook them for a 2K
I know I'm only one person, but this seems like a waste of a system, from my personal experiences
-
4 games so far - 6 DC's - 3 Switches

Would have been nice to have an official reply regarding the "Last Second Switch."

A little clip which ilustrates that many people just dont have fun against certain killers. Legion is really weak and still people even DC live on twitch against him cuz he is super boring.
0 gens done
3 people in 1 spot
Legion approaching - 3 people guaranteed to be injured, probably slowed w/ Thana before a gen is done - huge killer energy moment
DC's because Legion is "boring." - That must be it ;3

Yet you ignore that survivors can still quick switch. This post is perfectly valid.
If you look at their post history, you'll see that they are extremely condescending and biased.
You're better off ignoring them.

It's worth it, but the tradeoffs players are worried about are avoidable.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1482311#Comment_1482311
The only thing that needs to change in this case is to lock survivors as well. The killer doesn't have to worry about survivors changing their builds to counter the killer due to a cheat and the original purpose of the lobby is maintained.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1482339#Comment_1482339
You ignored the core issue. Survivors having the ability to change their builds before a killer can react. This has nothing to do with tracking a survivor's MMR nor is it a concern. Everyone knows survivors are all the same. Players are talking about the last second swap and why that is the reason survivors should be locked in the lobby as well.
It's a quick fix that we will probably never see T_T
-
@Almo said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1482328#Comment_1482328
Because Survivors are all the same. We're not tracking per-Survivor MMR.
Leaving the ability to last second switch on killers that may not even have full/competitive loadouts is pretty lame, particularly if they're selecting what they're going to bring from their limited arsenal based on what they see.
-
I've been matched with a few survivor groups that have been using this/discussing it pre-match.
I guess this is the next evolution of grouping "for fun."

Not having video on hand make someone a liar? Even though you told @Rill that you had no interest in watching cherry-picked videos earlier today?
Stating my own personal experiences and what works for me is somehow a commentary on balance?

Proof about what?
Staying near a pallet/in one spot is bad against a Spirit?
Trying to lead her into an area with multiple options like the main structure in Disturbed Ward helps limit her power's viability?
That these are my personal experiences?
Yeah, there's a highlight reel I've been saving for this very occasion to drop when someone is a little salty /s

You can thank me in the near future when 3 gens don't go off at the beginning of a match.
You're welcome.
Yeah - Whenever I'm playing Trapper or Clown and 2 gens pop across the map before I can even physically get there thanks to god-tier survivor spawns, I always shake my fist and say, "Damn you, Billy!"
Your logic is unbelievably flawed, as you're attributing optimal survivor play to a completely irrelevant thing.
-
Camping Pallets/Regular Looping vs Spirit is a bad idea.
I do pretty good against her in most of my games taking chases to buildings/areas with lots of vaulting options (to limit/remove viable pathing for her power) to use if/when a pallet drop is forced.
I don't run Iron Will.

It does have a very long cooldown, which should be manageable unless your team is getting hooked every 10 seconds, then Pop wouldn't matter anyway. I never said killers were entitled to anything. You're making an argument that has nothing to do with the thread. If the gates are opened, the CORRECT PLAY is to go after the injured person. However, if that person has DS, there is literally no counter to it. I mean, this is a thread based on whining about counters. So it's a valid standpoint.
If the gates are opened, throw your game!

Devs for ages you've left this game knowingly imbalanced with matchmaking and server flaws. I have the last straw today. I've sent you plenty of feedback in the past and so has the rest of the community yet you sit on your asses for some reason over these obvious penalties to players. I'd ask why but I don't think you even know. I mean why would you leave a mechanic like ebony moris in the game for so long? The only reason I can think of is you don't actually know you implemented them, that's how blind I think you are to these problems because they get left ignored for years. I love this game but I'm fed up with it now, I'm never playing it again till you fix your game. I broke my keyboard because you stuck me with people 10 ranks under me for multiple games in a row, because you stuck me in games where the killer could lag hit 5ms through windows multiple games in a row, because you stuck me in games where the opponent had an unfair advantage through perks and ad-ons multiple game in a row. How difficult is it to stick me in games with people my rank? How difficult is it to stick me in games where the opponent doesn't get an advantage because their far away from the server? How difficult is it to remove broken perks and ad-ons? You'll probably remove this post rather than listen to something that might improve the game for the better. On the off chance that you don't hurry up and fix your damn game
Yeah - The devs made you break your keyboard >_>
-
I think Legion is underrated and pretty solid if played well.
Most Legions don't try to force the survivor out of key areas, block key windows with fatigue, sprint ahead of the survivor to beat them to/fatigue at a pallet, etc.
He definitely has a few nuances that few people really know about/explore.
-
I'd really recommend Detective's Hunch - NOED will be a non-issue :)

@sulaiman said:
They dont want to reveal the actual metric, to avoid the problem of "deranking". IF people dont know what to do or fail for, they can´t activly manipulate their rating.
As for swf, i think they either give swf a rating boost, or just do a individual rating for the individual teams, in the beginning based on the member rating, then on performance (for that team). I read a comment from a dev that made me believe its something like that, but i have no idea where i read it.
There are a lot of things you can take to evaluate skill, kills and escaped being only the bottom, because they are most unreliable.
But i would use things like performance in chases, including time until hit or downed, pallets dropped during chase, ability to leave a chase unharmed (by jukeing for example).
I think for killers the finding of survivors and the chase might be the most important determinator, but might include if he switches targets, or other targets interfere (like with head on, flashlights) while survivors also have time not in chases, and how productive that time is, like doing gens, rescuing others, staying hidden, flashlight saves and a lot more.
I don't see how not revealing it has anything to do with de-ranking - Survivors will still be able to suicide on hook and Killers will still be able to AFK.
-
My friend (when she rarely plays) and I run Detective's Hunch. I don't really see a lot of NOED in my games, whether I'm solo or not.

For killer I agree with you, it's not that complicated. They just have to account for things like Moris and the killer you play. Survivor, on the other hand, is practically impossible to account for.
Let's say you are a trash survivor who drops 10 pallets in 2 minutes but sustain a long chase with the killer. Then a very good survivor gets downed instantly because there are no pallets left in the map. The 'algorithm' would think the bad survivor is better. There are so many things to account for in survivor skill that no algorithm BHVR could make would accurately depict skill.
You can also carry a game, get 20k+, and die at the end....Is that a loss for the MMR system?

4 Blendettes? Wish I could Doc :(

Yeah I can only see this leading to more lobby dodging and longer wait times.
Plus I got a good laugh out of "rank doesn't reflect skill and won't be used for matchmaking." So basically "we gave up trying to make matchmaking actually work and now we're just gonna tell you that the 20 rank difference in the post game is due to some magical secret matchmaking value and you should believe it's balanced now."
When you couldn't switch for a while in the PTB (dunno if it stayed that way), people thought "Boy, what a weird bug."

I think you're vastly over exaggerating. Any decent 2k hour survivors are not playing that badly.
You seriously think a killer that a long with basic map pressure/loop knowledge that all other killers have but also makes you track through sounds and scratch marks solely requires less skill? You can't be serious. This is at rank 1?
What killers are you putting as harder than her? List them. Nurse, Deathslinger, Huntress sure, what else?
To be honest, I'd imagine that only a handful of people on this forum can play Spirit to a level that most 'good' players would consider 'threatening.'
From the get-go, this topic was disingenuous and histrionic.
At least it gives us another healthy helping of the same people saying the same things over and over.
2/10

I'm doubly curious as to why they'd try to slug the person prior to closing the hatch, giving them an opportunity to escape and get 7k for "doing nothing all game."
