Maybe a new player would have a different perspective from myself. I had all perks on Cheryl and Jill so whenever a new survivor came out, I'd bust them out and play with the new toys. All I had to do was get the new survivor to 40, then I'd immediately get the perks on Jill.
This was nice for my max Survivors, but for everyone else I'd have no chance of ever getting what I want. With each chapter, BBQ got harder and harder to roll.
Now I have all my builds on all my survivors, so survivors are just skins now. I dont need a maxed out Survivor anymore.
NOw if I want a tier 3 perk I can just get the first Prestige and then just buy webs til the perks are purple. If that character has just prestige, the perks will be cheap as low lvl webs barely have anything.
If you were a new player though and not like us, who have wayyy too much time in the game, you'd have to grind the BP to get to P1 and then roll the bloodweb odds. For...thirty-three Survivors.
To unlock the teachables for every Survivor pre-patch, you'd need about 40 million BP. A lot, for sure, but you had BBQ, WGLF, BP offerings and Events to help.
Post-patch (using pre-patch bloodweb numbers because it's been widely reported that the bloodweb is much more expensive now) you'd need 53 million BP. Without many Events, BP codes (seriously the 10K BP codes are jokes), BBQ or WGLF. You also still need to roll the bloodweb RNG afterwards.

Tried to go back for someone against a Freddy.
Thought to myself, he's running at least 3 slowdowns (Eruption, Overcharge and Deadlock) surely he wouldn't have NOED.
He did.
mfw the gens took 12 minutes to do because our randoms couldn't hit Overcharge.

The perk teachable grind was made better at the expense of the addon grind
I don't think it was. Not from a time perspective.
You need something like 400K more BP to get from LVL 40 to LVL 50, plus the ######### prestige tax. Then, you have to play with the BloodWeb to get your perks to Tier III. All the while, you get almost nothing per game as Survivor and only slightly more as Killer.

There is no way 4 slow down is even close to being a good build on nurse. I mean it could work but its like putting tractor wheels on a ferrari or something.
Eruption, PR, Surge and Overcharge.
But you're probably right. It'd be more like Lethal, Floods of Rage, PR, Surge.

Or just straight up nuke her add ons so they arent ridiculous and then make her 2nd blink a special attack so exposed actually takes some skill to use on her.
I mean, even if they stop her from using Starstruck, people will stack four slowdowns on her.
There should be a perk weight system for some Killers, I just don't know how it would work without being ridiculously complex. Like, a good Nurse doesn't need Range and 4 slowdowns. A Myers running Scratched Mirror though? He probably does.

Joe Keery's manager asking why BHVR interactive is requesting him to go to their studio for 'character model work'
I wonder what the process for getting their likeness in the game was.
I'm not sure but I think Joe Keery did a WIRED interview or something and he wasn't familiar with DBD at all. This was nearly a year after the license game to DBD.

Soon.
As a former Steve main myself, our time will return.
//
-
That's the neat part, it's not a grind reduction for most players.
-
Nurse is pretty much the only Killer that I think actually needs restrictions on what she can bring.
-
The average Feng mains that I've encountered act like spoiled kids so it makes sense that they get spoiled with skins.
Meanwhile me, a poor Steve main, going without an outfit for a year and two months

I would say that the overall Killer chase power increase AND the meta shift have caused Solo Q to go down the drain even more.
It seems to me that most of the meta perks, currently, function at their best when up against Solo Q teammates. Overcharge is extremely difficult when you don't know about it. Eruption has basically zero counterplay in Solo Q. PR, Call of Brine, ect ect all thrive on lack of communication.
Likewise, the overall Killer buffs have buffed Killers chase potential. Survivors gain less distance through both a reduction in speed after being hit AND from the Killer gaining two stacks of STBFL basekit. This, coupled with faster pallet breaking speeds and the removal of DH for distance and DS, has massively nerfed Survivors chase potential.
Finally, it's now very easy and very rewarding to either camp the first person you down or to just tunnel them out of the game. 5 seconds of basekit BT is meaningless and most Killers will hit you straight off of hook anyways. In a lot of spots, you don't get enough distance to make it to a good tile. DS got omega-nerfed and it's essentially useless against most Killers. OTR is good, assuming the Killer doesn't hit you right after you get unhooked. The counter to hard tunneling and facecamping is to either coordinate a save/bodyblock or to slam gens. Neither of these are remotely feasible in Solo Q.
With all of these things combined, everyone except for 4-mans got hit very hard in the last patch.

Really though it comes down to communication. If players let chain hunt happen it means no one was going for the box before it started or are chickens about solving it and aggroing the Killer.
Tbh Chain Hunt shouldn't affect the solver but wasn't that how it was before and people were holding it hostage or something like that. I can't remember what the issue was with it in the beginning.
The issue is that the Box spawns Chains and Pinhead will immediately aggro to the Box. He will chase you and get a 100% confirmed Chain Hunt.
If he intercepts you, he gets Chain Hunt.
If nobody goes for it, he gets Chain Hunt.
Plus, the Box is still ######### bugged. It will spawn Chains way after you begin solving it. I've had them spawn when I'm halfway done with it. That can literally be the difference between winning and losing.

Keep him as is and get a better SBMM?
Pinhead isn't an issue, bad Survivors are an issue
Survivors who can't say, "Hey, I'm going for the Box." or "Hey, the Killer intercepted me on my way to the Box." are always going to be bad against Pinhead.
SWF's who hammer out the Box as soon as it spawns making damn sure he never gets a Chain Hunt are always going to be good against Pinhead.
I would rather buff his anti-loop Possessed Chain, which is pitifully weak at the moment. Then, I would nerf his Chain Hunt in some way. I've not yet decided how. This both buffs his effectiveness against SWF's and nerfs his effectiveness vs Solo's whilst giving him a net buff overall.
-
Now this, this is the type of post I like.
Quality shitpost with a real good point. Archive Challenges are absolutely awful.

Do you want every Killer to be a trapless Trapper or what?
How do you propose we make Pinhead more bearable for Solo Q? At least they're trying to come up with ideas.
I had three last night. Every single match was miserable. I would rather nerf his Chain Hunt and buff his Possessed Chain.

Didn't the RE chapter nearly brick your Xbox, like it crashed and then you couldn't get the power back on for hours? Or am I thinking of someone else?
Yeah that was me.
It did finally die a couple months ago, hence why no new clips.
-
Yes, the RE Chapter was a massive issue on Xbox One and PS4, and even some PC's.
RPD caused crashes for months. Nemesis caused severe freezing issues for months. The game was essentially unplayable for a month or so. While it has gained back what it lost, there haven't really been any improvements. The same triggers remain and little seems to be done about them.
If you have clips or just want to see some of the videos from the time, please check out the thread.

Recently, it's been getting more and more difficult to enjoy this game and to look over the glaring issues. The Console port of DBD has shown that the game is extremely poorly optimized, and performance will continue to get worse unless BHVR addresses the issues now.
I fear that soon, the game will become unplayable for us on current-gen Consoles. Resident Evil broke the game for a month, and it still hasn't fully recovered. What this shows is that the issue is built into the game itself, and will likely continue to worsen if it is not resolved. Likewise, we are seeing the return of bugs long thought patched, which makes me suspect that the entire code is starting to crumble under the weight of the game. I hope BHVR takes the time to do this correctly and fixes their game. If they do not, I fear we will soon lose the ability to play it at all.
Here are some videos demonstrating my points, please note that these were all taken PRIOR to the RE patch in June of 2021. These issues have been plaguing Console players since the game was ported in 2017. I doubt there will ever be an official confirmation from BHVR, but it is important that we do not let these issues go silently. The only thing we can do is continue to talk and spread awareness about them.

August Edit: Well, we are nearing 100 pages. Congrats everyone. We still haven't gotten an answer from BHVR about what happened to Optimization, but we have inspired others to start to question it. I've furthered clarified the purpose of the thread and adjusted some of the language used in this opening statement to better reflect that.
Thank you.

I mean, go ahead.
It's an exercise in futility trying to play with anything less than a 4-man right now. My entire night tonight has been dominated by 4 Nurse's and 3 Pinhead's.

Someone needs to open the door for that sort of social context to exist--be it online or IRL.
Personally, a comment like "gg ez" is harmless enough to open that door.
People get offended by everything these days.
To me, "gg ez" is far more mild-mannered than some of the things you can do to players in-game.
For example, I think slugging for the 4k is MORE offensive than saying "gg ez." I really value my time, so it is insulting to have it wasted staring at my helpless body, lying on the ground for minutes at a time, because some other player can't fathom the idea of a survivor finding hatch.
At the end of the day, I can't please everyone.
Someone is going to think I'm a !#&% no matter what I do.
You sound like me when I was 13.
That is not someone that you want to emulate.
-
Disagree.

The time required to be good with nurse is the most overblown stat I've ever seen.
You don't need 1000s or even hundreds of hours of practice.
It's like 10-20 and you'll be winning most of your games after that.
I do think it's more than that to be proficient.
I'd say 50-100 and you'll be okay in most games.

Circle of Healing is still good.
DS definitely needs to go back to 5 seconds. Hell, I wouldn't mind if it worked on both hook states.

I think what a lot of people forget is that there are a lot of moments in a game where you aren't in a good position to be on a gen but you also aren't literally running. Maybe you're hiding from the killer briefly, maybe you're checking things out from a high vantage point, maybe you're waiting to see if a killer is still chasing you, etc. The advantage of Self Care then is it turns all those idle moments into times you can partially build up your healing bar. Even when you don't heal fully, unless you're Hemorrhaging you won't lose any partial heals you do. So Self Care is allowing you to squeeze extra time efficiency out of the short periods you otherwise might be wasting, all without needing anything else like a med kit or someone nearby or to be in range of a Boon, etc. Just anywhere, any time you want, heal a split sec when you're not doing something else, then get back to business.
So yeah, it's not ideal to use it as your primary healing source, but it's a good secondary partial healing source to fill in the gaps.
Bring a med-kit.
Or bring CoH.
Every player I've seen using Self-Care since it's nerf have been found sitting in or near corners Healing.
-
Because it's usually better to not heal at 35% speed than to heal.
-
Yeah, the game has been ######### as Survivor since the last patch.
Killer has been fine, I guess.

Not really, I'm just saying if you hate getting hit at cars because the Killer slid on it, at least be consistent
If you can't recognize the difference between a Demo Shred and a Blight Rush, I dunno how to help you man.

I don't really have a problem with Hug Tech being removed, I don't think good Blights will have any trouble with getting hits without it.

It's not something that I'm super concerned about but boy it does not feel good when you find a car loop and you just know you're gonna get hit around it.
You must hate Demogorgon sliding around cars and want it fixed aswell, or does it only apply when you're talking about a Killer you don't like?

you mean like these type of hug tech's right at the start of the video? i would say the most effective way to deal with it is to break away from loop because most blights will slide along edge of surfaces of the loop. its similar to dealing with billy chainsaw curving.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3140795#Comment_3140795
i'm pretty sure that experienced blights use it at least 10 times per match. removing it would make blight so clunky, you would just bump into every object that you don't want to bump into. hug tech is very important skill for blight because it gives more control for the blight player to control what he has to bump into vs what he doesn't want to bump into.
Even if he would have immediately run away, he still would've gotten hit there.
Even if he hadn't, the Blight had THREE more rushes to get a hit.

@SuzuKR said:

That’s literally part of mindgaming. If Blight usually tries to go for sliding at tiles like that, then you already have an idea of what to expect. Blight also has to guess if they’re going to expect sliding and just peel off.
Except, they can keep sliding and just use another Rush to catch up to you.
You don't make enough distance to get anywhere on most maps.
-
@SuzuKR said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3140773#Comment_3140773
??? That’s one of the most common places to use it at, because you use it to slide around instead of spending multiple Rushes to ricochet. Also on many objects, you have to look down to even have a chance to slide well meaning your vision is even further reduced.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3140771#Comment_3140771
If there’s a pallet, it doesn’t even matter because you just drop the pallet on him. The exact issue with waiting for the result is that it’ll probably create massive bugs.
He can change his Rush direction when he's at the end of the car. He can start sliding one way, then go another. With Speed add-ons, there isn't much of an opportunity to react to that.
Unless you are suggesting Survivors simply camp pallets and drop them instantly against Blight (which is a sure-fire way to lose fast on most maps), I'm not seeing the idea here.
-
@SuzuKR said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3140768#Comment_3140768
You do realize if you actually left the surface properly (break LOS and then separate immediately), he literally cannot reach you in time when he realizes?
The issue there is that if you are in a position where the Blight can't see you trying to break LOS, you also can't see them hugging their way towards you.
You've gotta guess.
-
I think I'd rather see what they produce first, before calling it a waste of time.
I do think that the hug tech, coupled with Blight abnormally large initial swing hitbox can make for some very unfair situations.
It's not something that I'm super concerned about but boy it does not feel good when you find a car loop and you just know you're gonna get hit around it.
-
I've grown to dislike Q&A's.
We get about one real answer per stream and the rest are some variation on "maybe, not right now, in the future" ect ect.
I'd honestly just rather not have them at that point.
