What? You literally just showed me an instance of it not working and all the killer had to do was not use his power? Please show me this working an infinite amount and I'll believe it's actually possible but I have never seen any survivor use a window an unlimited amount of times and I bet you haven't either.
I have actually in a clip of someone getting looped infinitely at the Strode house.
This whole thing started because I said the Strode house has an infinite, which is pretty much known by everyone. So let's get back to that. A good survivor will easily abuse the way the chase starts, thus making the Strode house an infinite.

but this tech doesn't work on any killer with half a brain lol.
Ah yes. How would you personally start the chase when it is impossible due to the mechanics of the game.

lol this video is hilarious, the first match against the blight, only reason he got to use his "tech" was because the blight kept forcing his power over and over again instead of starting a chase, killer error.
This wasn't a video for me to show you how good the tech is, it was a video for me to show you how the tech works. It is even stronger at the Strode house.
Personally, I can't pull this off, because I'm not the best survivor. But good survivors won't have issues using this tech at the Strode house.

I have never not been able to get into a chase with a survivor, not even once and if they're walking the whole time how are you not hitting them and initiating a chase exactly?
https://youtu.be/7r3k8Q5E7Cg here I found a video in which you can see how this tech works.

I have never not been able to get into a chase with a survivor, not even once and if they're walking the whole time how are you not hitting them and initiating a chase exactly?
So let me make this clear to you: in certain loops, you can periodically walk to not trigger a chase and still not get caught. The Strode house loop and the shack are 2 examples. (For the shack, when the killer sees you, just walk to the wall, then start sprinting because you broke los. Just by doing this the window is never blocked)

You're not wrong, but when used in this context it's not stupid for me to assume you mean exploiting it as in it's an exploit, no?
It is actually stupid just because I used exploit as a verb lol. Anyway mistakes were made.

If you can't get into a chase 'endlessly' with a survivor than that's 100% a you problem.
So because the survivor is straight up allowed to decide NOT to begin a chase, it is MY fault? Loops like the Strode house infinite allow survivors to get infinite uses out of a window without any penalty.
-
@Seanzu said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2439468#Comment_2439468
So how is that an exploit? Are you saying survivors not running when they see a killer is now an exploit?
Lmao I didn't say it is an exploit. I said they can exploit the mechanic into their favor. The word exploit has a meaning outside gaming if you didn't know.
-
@Seanzu said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2439393#Comment_2439393
"exploit the requirements for chase" that's a funny way of saying you couldn't keep the survivor in your sights and likely lost them.
That's also a way of saying survivors can walk when you see them at certain loops in order to not trigger a chase.
Chases don't trigger unless the survivor is running.

Infinites were only possible before they added window blocks, after that nothing in infinite anymore.
Window blocks only activate in chases. Good survivors exploit the requirements for chases so windows are never blocked.

Software piracy or in other terms Copyright infringement is illegal in most countries.
So its not a valid comparison to someones internet connection.
It doesn't matter if it is legal or not (btw, I'm pretty sure redistributing things is the felony you are talking about. Just downloading a pirated version of something is hardly against the law). The situation is the same, and I explained how.

@datm said:
@Pukenplag you are acting like an #########. I never had problems like that before. My connection always worked. And that only happend and Dead by daylight. And I dont know how many times i said that. BUT THE PROBLEM IS THAT U GET INSTANTLY DISCONNECTED. Don't u get the point man? What is your plan here. Are you here to blame other people for their bad connection? Just go away and spread your salt somewhere else. Go make another post about how bad the game or everyone in your team is.
You never said you didn't have problems before, you just said you wait out lag in other games.
I don't know how bad your connection can go that you get instantly disconnected up to the point of 1 day time outs. Considering lag switching works well in DbD, it means your "instant disconnecting" is not so instant.
-
@Lemonwolf said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2439079#Comment_2439079
Why is it his fault? Connection problem do happen even on the really high end ones.
You cant simply blame the player for that. As i said maybe the DBD netcode needs some optimizations so that DCs dont happen that quickly.
Are you seriously asking me why your comparison is ridiculous? Do i have to spell it out for you?
You are comparing an illegal criminal activity to someone how has connection issues. Do i need to say more?
"Illegal criminal activity" - it isn't one in my country lmao.
I also have issues every so often, but maybe 1 time a month. When you get to the point of having a 24h ban, it means you KEPT ON disconnecting for I think 12 times?
OP just said that it is mostly DbD that causes them issue. For that I apologize.

That is the most ridiculous comparison imaginable. Comparing an internet connection with piracy........wow.
YOU are talking about entitlement?
YOU! The person here trying to dictate who can play and who cant.
No one said that video games are a right. That doesnt mean that you can come in here on your planet sized horse and tell people what they can and cant do.
If the OP has a problem wit his connection, thats unfortunate but it can happen.
And if its only happening in DBD then maybe its netcode isnt quite up to the task?
Thats not the fault of the player.
That is PRECISELY the fault of the OP because they said multiple times how they have bad connection in general.
LMAO, I am DICTATING who can play and who can't? It is exactly how I would tell you you are directing who can and who can't buy real estate because you said you need money for it.
And how is that a ridiculous comparison? Both are cases of someone justifying their situation by saying they can't do better. If you can't do better than bad and detrimental to others, then don't do anything at all.

My thing is -- there is no punishment for missed chains. Like you can just almost spam it if you need to because it replenishes so quickly.
But then someone said that the fact that Pinhead is just standing there could be considered the "punishment" for missing with the power, because it allows the survivor to gain distance.
Regardless of missing or hitting your chain, the fact that you are stuck in the same position is only detrimental.
"Oh no, he just missed and has his power again after like 4 seconds. So unfair" - except that while he was charging and shooting his chain, you had time to gain A LOT of distance.

Your last sentence must be one of the most arrogant things i have read for quite a while.
Who do you think you are? Trying to dictate who can play games and who doesnt.
Lmao the entitlement of some people.
Video games are NOT a right god damnit. They are very popular and for the majority affordable, but that doesn't mean you have to play them. If you don't afford/ can't buy due to other reasons the right specs for them, then don't play them.
People that don't understand this are the same people that justify piracy by saying they don't have money for games. Just because something is popular it doesn't mean you are given access to it regardless of your situation.

Like I said next time you're updating and its taking awhile try changing your dns and make sure you're using wired connection.
I had the same issue one time, my wifi was fine but the mass amount of players downloading etc. Hurt my speed.
I'm just saying what helped me personally
Steam download speed peaks at 50 MB/s and stays around 35-50 MB/s.
It is not the download speed that hurts my update duration. Literally the download segment goes in seconds. It is the read/write segment that makes my updates last so long.
-
@datm said:
@Pukenplag @Orion as i said u can say that so easy. There are many reasons why this punishment is not okay. As survivor you can just die on hook. As killer just go afk and u will probably get gen rushed anyways. But then for the people who has real problems is the punishment just dumb. If a killer for example is letting you bleed out you have to dc. For people with bad connection u get instantly kicked for no reason. In other games u just wait out the lag and you can go on with the game. Or when ur game crashes without a knowning reason. All these examples are poor people that now have a punishment. Because the mad Andys can't realise that there are people out there who also want to play this game but does not have all the perfect requierments.
1) you don't have to dc if the killer slugs. Wait 4 mins and you are out of the game. 1 min less than dcing and you also gain bp
2) I also want to have my own make-up brand. Sadly I don't have the perfect requirements to achieve my dream so I work my way into having them.
Please understand that, just because video games are popular, you aren't born with the right to play them. If you don't own what's necessary for playing them, then don't play them.

I don't know how to tell you this... But I think it's you. I downloaded PTB in 5 minutes. And live server in another 5
"I don't have the issue, so it is not real".
I downloaded an 830MB update in 3 minutes for any other game. I downloaded an 830MB update for DbD in 9 hours.
It is just me, definetly not like if you do a quick search on the internet regarding this issue for DbD you find countless threads on different sites.

Things that helped me was a wired connection (even a wired tp link can help loads) and changing my DNS settings for the update and swap back once it's done

But this seriously sounds like a PC problem, almost 4 hours for an update? People say the updates are long because they can sometimes take 20 - 40 minutes, but over four hours and there is something else wrong.
As far as I understand, DbD has a different way of making updates. And this causes issues for a lot of people.
Honestly, why does everyone say it is my PC's fault? The only reason I am complaining is that DbD takes an eternity compared to ANY other game.
I finished the update in 9 hours. 3-4 times more than it took me to download and install GTA V.

Takes me around 5 minutes to download and fully install.
One thing I did notice is if your install hard drive is full-ish it will download / move the patch to an emptier hard drive and then unpack and move things which increases the time substantially.
My SSD is only half occupied.
-
@NerfedFreddy said:
DBD definitely has updating issues on steam to the point that is easier to delete/install dbd than updating it
Moving DbD to the SSD from the HDD took me around 1 hour.
Considering my download speed, you actually gave an idea lol.
If I understood something right, DbD basically changes so many lines of code in the updates that it takes this much for it to update, so if my knowledge isn't failing me, straight up downloading all the game files and unpacking them would indeed cut short the update time. If it wasn't a PTB, I would've done that.
How ridiculous....
-
@ShadowsVale said:
Post like this always confuse me because I've never had an issue getting a DBD update to download.
Small question.....does your internet plan you use have a data limit? Because before I switched mine to unlimited data, I had issues with going over my limit and things would slow down.
(The internet company also kept automatically upping my package to a more expensive one that had more data, even though I told them I didn't want them to do that and had to have the revert it several times. Granted, I'm aware I kept going over my data, but I'd rather they call me or something before doing that. Glad my finances improved so I could afford unlimited data.)
The issue is not the internet. Dbd usually starts updates by changing stuff on my disk, but this time it started with the download. In 30 seconds I had the update downloaded. But the time it takes for files to be unpacked and modified is just unbelievable.
Things took to much to get updated, it got very late so I just stopped everything and went to sleep. I will start the update again to see how much more it will take now.

Not saying those kind of people don’t exist. But saying every survivor was doing it just makes it seem very unbelievable. also false-flagging, the people that accused you (or others) for homophobia probably were actual homophobes trying to give bhvr a reason to delete the charm.
Ok, not every survivor, I meant every SWF.
That doesn't mean that my statement is false. People were deeming immunity because they wore the pride charm.

Nope, doesn't sound like your specs are the issue, unless your SSD is failing.
Maybe the issue is Steam itself. I doubt they allocate server resources democratically. They probably prioritize certain games over others.
I've had the SSD for 2 years and a half in my PC and I didn't know how to use it because it wasn't formatted. I didn't care so I just used the HDD. I don't think it could be falling apart after ~1 week of usage.

It took me about 15 minutes to download the update and 30 to "update/patch" it and 10 minutes to "verify" it.

What's your SSD's read/write speed? What's your internet's speed? What's your CPU?
I don't know how to check the first, for the second I can tell you I usually peak at 50MB/s on Steam, but I remember the contract mentioning 75MB/s. The CPU is an Intel core i7 8th gen and I think something like 9750K (I really don't remember).
But I honestly don't believe my specs are the issue. As I said, literally any other game updates at light speed.

I don't really think anyone thinks it is easy to fix. But this isn't something that has only been going on for 3 months. It has been going on for years. They had a "big" campaign to improve performance for consoles and lower end PCs in 2019 and failed. Not only that, they just flat out stopped talking about it. You can't blame people for being frustrated for dealing with the crap performance for years and not accepting their lack of communication about the issue. It's great that Mandy is able to say they are working on it, and hopefully they really are, but that isn't enough to completely dissolve the distrust they have built in the community that have felt unheard and left behind for years.
I can't blame people for being frustrated, but I can blame people when they never think what work goes behind certain things.
You release something, people buy it, but it is not working as good as intended. To fix that issue, you have to spend tons of money and lots of time to first diagnose the cause, then other lots of money and time to fix ths issue.
If they can't simply diagnose the issue, of course they can't solve it.
-
@onemind said:

That has to be a look over
other wise there would be no point in solving it you pick it up being into your gen drop it to avoid oblvisous and puxk it up again to stop it
"The Survivor must solve the Lament Configuration to remove it from their possession"
So you pick it up, end the hunt, but you still need to solve it unless you want to have your item slot occupied by the box.
-
I was happy for a pride chain, untill every survivor in the first 2 weeks was accusing me of homophobia because I killed them.
Me having the charm on the hook matters not, only the fact that they had a rainbow on their waist mattered.
I honestly believe they shouldn't have done pride charms in the first place, simply because of how vile some people are.

We know, believe me we know. I know people see it as empty words coming from me, but genuinely the team are working hard to try to resolve the issues on consoles and I believe they are making some headway but it's sadly taking time - I do feel bad about it, a lot of my friends also play on consoles, so I see the struggles they've had, especially with freezings.
I think the real issue is that a lot of people think optimization is done by pressing a button, while in reality it can be suuuuch a big pain... I sincerely appreciate the team is working on optimization.

They actually decided to pull the trigger on an IP with a 2 year contract... I have every reason to worry they made similar decisions with other licenses. They apparently screwed up the map too? I mean, my concern means very little, but I expect we will lose more content in the future.
Regarding your last sentence:
1) Halloween was the first license to come into the game, back when it was very primitive and NOT popular. The IP owner likes DBD and considering the recent renewal of the license we can say this license will stay for A LONG time
2) For Bubba, it was literally the TCM IP owner that reached out to BHVR because they liked DBD so much. Also very unlikely it'll go, not to mention it is a paragraph so we won't lose any content.
3) NoES license is the strictest, but considering the IP owner agreed to partner with BHVR back in DbD's earlier stages, it's still not that likely that chapter's gonna go.
4) As far as I know, the people from SAW are very nice to BHVR, and don't forget about DBD's recent SAW event.
5) No clue about Evild Dead. Although I can safely say we're fine, it's a paragraph, so nothing's lost
6) Fun World is probably the most "lol whatever" IP owner
7) Stranger Things
8) Konami's strict, but the license is still new
9) Capcom's done plenty crossovers as far as I know, so it's very unlikely RE will go any time soon (License's still very new too)
10) Hellraiser is a very old license, so it's also very likely its owners have no issue with their characters shining again.
Hopefully I haven't forgotten any license. I imagined the game since May 15th 2016 when I found out about it to remember its licenses. Also, only one license in 2018? Pretty weird, I thought there were more.
-
@Sypherpathic said:
Another thing to keep in mind is there are varying levels of license. They might get a license for a character but not an actor's appearance. That seems more common than not. So a lot of people might be disappointed if they secured the character but the DBD version did not look like the actor. All anyone can do now is wait and see.
Yeah but Kirsty's follows both DbD and BHVR on twitter and as far as I know, she also like the Hellraiser teaser. I doubt she won't look like the character if she makes an appearence.

Myers is, with the exception of Tombstone Piece (super OP) and Vanity Mirror (super trash), the best killer add-on-wise, in my opinion. He has both "buffs" and gameplay changers (Scratched Mirror).
I sincerely hope they won't touch his addons except those 2 I mentioned.
-
4.6m/s×20s (time to open gate) = 92m.
Just in the time it takes the survivors to open a gate you would've gotten on the other side of the map. But they weren't yet opening the gate, the gen was still being done. Which means you had more than enough time to get there and maybe even get EWIII for potential snowball, albeit more hooks and possibly kills.
Personally I would've went for the gate, just because Myers has an easy to use insta-down
