Yes, a mori is a legitimate way to kill a survivor and complete the objective, bleeding them out is not.
But Mori isn't a sacrifice or using the hooks yet that's legit? So how is that sacrificing to the entity which is the main objective? I would say the main objective is kill survivors/stop them escaping which a bleed out does accomplish this goal, it even gives the "no one escaped" bonus if there is a bleed out.

It sounds like you'd rather play a single player game.
Bots don't belong in multiplayer games unless there is serious problems.
I'd enjoy dbd if it was a single player game, I tolerate the other players but if I had the choice I'd happily play with bots.

The bleed out mechanic is not there to let killers win the game, a killer's main objective is to sacrifice survivors to the entity. Bleeding out isn't a legitimate way to kill or sacrifice a survivor, and the game docks a killer when they do it.
Yet a Mori doesn't sacrifice to entity but does have the same result of eliminating a player from the match. Basekit Mori for last survivor or tombstone Myers isn't killer completing main objective?

I would just do baskit unbreakable and have the perk do something else.
You should be interacting with the hooks, thats why the devs put them there.Slugging should be a short term thing, not disabling several minutes for multiple people in a match.
Faster bleedouts would just make slugging MORE prevalent. We dont need that. How would basekit unbreakable effect downs near pallets (which they often are). The result would be pick up and get stunned by pallet save or leave slugged which they get themselves up. Same thing with flashlight saves or flashbanhs. Or when people bring petrified oak with several anti hooking perks. Puts the killer in a lose lose situation. True it would stop slugging... And the entire killer player base from playing the game.
The reason the timer for being slugged is so long is to give people time to crawl to a better location for a safe heal but people rarely do that. They just afk or DC which is probably another reason so many killers slug.
Also just because the hooks are there doesn't mean people should be interacting with them. Same argument could be said for slugging, the bleed out is a mechanic so killers should be doing it. Or killers like Myers that can Mori whole teams without a single hook. Just saying there are many things that the Devs put in the game but it doesn't necessarily mean killer or survivor SHOULD be interacting with them. They are there as an option, one of many options.
-
I will always prefer bots to actually players, from a survivor basis they actually do gens, go for unhooks, they don't hide in the corner whole match waiting for hatch or follow the killer to try get 1 blind save when killer clearly has light born or suicide on hook. Much prefer bots as teammates.
From the killers basis, bots don't spend ages repeatedly going saves or t bag at every pallet or hide for the hatch. They play the game. If I could get BP and rewards playing custom games with bots I would be playing that lol no hassle, no q times. Bring on the bots

Many 2k games raise MMR, but that doesn't mean they are overall game wins.
BHVR never said what the overall win condition is. So all we have are the words they literally said, which is a killer game is like 4 separate matches. And winning 4 separate matches is more than winning 3 separate matches.
I'm not aware of anything that says 2k raises MMR. As far as I was aware, 0-1k lowers, 2k remains the same, 3-4k raises as it's based on kills.

3k isn't officially a win for the killer.
BHVR said the game is like 4 separate matches for the killer. This means a 3k is 3 wins, and a 4k is 4 wins.
3k is a win if your going on MMR basis for a win. 3/4k both raise MMR.

Nah I got fed up and went back to killer. I will leave it a few more days then do some more survivor when the tome rush dies down. As tsanders pointed out, I think the tome challenges probably played a part for the lack of interest in gens.

If you mained survivor prior to 6.1.0, take your escape rate and subtract 30% from it. I also highly doubt nobody is doing gens. It's more likely that the matchmaker unfortunately paired you with two incompetent teams in a row.
5 matches in a row total of me and 3 other survivors did gens. (1 seemed pretty good, 1 kept failing skill checks and the other DC at 1st hook). Out of total of 20 survivors across 5 matches, 4 were willing to do gens, that's less than 25%. I did main survivor before 6.1.0. I'm not stressed about it because when I occasionally play survivor I'm just chilling and having a casual match. Need that break from the sweaty killer matches lol. I've just never noticed how many people are reluctant to go gens as I have tonight. Different experience than it was few years ago.

Your survivor MMR is most likely too low for you to see the issues that plague mid to high MMR games. Try playing solo q survivor exclusively for the next month or two and report back when you see an increase in slugging, tunneling, and other teammates doing gens.
I mained survivor few years ago and I did pretty well, could loop killers, team mates would do gens, escaped about half the time. Assuming my MMR is low for survivor which it could very well be as I'm not a survivor main anymore. how does one get the MMR up in solo if no one does gens? I could get hatch but hatch doesn't raise MMR

I stopped playing until the next 2v8 game mode, I tried to do Chaos Shuffle but my first few matches were shameless slugging and tunnelling at 5 gens so I just quit playing altogether and have only logged in weekly for the free gift.
Something has to change fast as the game is absolutely miserable for survivors lately, especially for the ever suffering solo queue enjoyer (which is my preferred role).
If survivors continue to leave, the game will die as we all can figure out there are 4 survivors required for every killer.
Just swap people for bots. At least bots don't suicide on hook or DC at the slightest thing or hide for eternity hoping to get the hatch. and I would be fine killing bots.
-
Many survivors will DC of the smallest thing, it's crazy. They DC at certain killers, certain offerings, being hooked once, even DC mid mori... Why? 5sec Mori v 45sec minimum penalty for DC. Lost count how many times I have been in the middle of a tombstone with Myers and the player DC before the Mori is complete lol. I get an image in my head of some angry survivor throwing a tantrum throwing the computer at the wall screaming the second something doesn't their way so the DC is the moment of impact of them throwing the computer 😂

That would suggest that any time the last two survivors just hide instead of continuing to work on gens would be reportable. While I never do that, I don't think it should be reportable. It feels a bit like there's some missing subtlety here. I can see it being reportable if multiple survivors do that from the beginning of the match, but something seems odd about the last two survivors being able to be reported for hiding.
You don't have an obligation to go find evidence, but this is something I think I won't believe until until I actually see it said by BHVR :(
It definitely should and is reportable, makes no difference if its 4, 3 or 2 people doing it. It's still the same outcome. Many times I have killed first 2 within 5min at like 3 gens. At this point the survivors have a tendency to hide for as long as necessary because they know they can't do the gens with just 2 of them so they try out live the other player to get hatch. Some do it knowing they won't get the hatch because both are doing it so they don't just to prolong the game they have lost. When they intentionally avoid the objective (gens) and intentionally bypass the mechanic that is supposed to aid the killer in finding inactive survivors (crows) for a prolonged period of time it is definitely reportable. There is a reason why crows are supposed to activate. Moving around in a small area long enough still activates crows because it's telling the survivor "that's long enough, time to move and actually do something". Unfortunately people have found a way to bypass crows while still not doing anything.
It baffles me how some people can not see hiding without progressing the match with no intention of doing the gens as being reportable. Especially knowing that if both accomplish their "goal" of hiding effectively long enough the hatch will never open because the killer can't find either of them. End outcome is server ends and both get sacrificed. That's why they definitely shouldn't be able to bypass crows at the very least.

To be honest I prefer playing survivor in tcm compared to dbd. More things to do

Unfortunately that would be impossible as otherwise it would just be very easy to manipulate your internet connection to replicate an internet issue rather than a rage quit. This is the reason why we keep the penalties short in the first instance (around a minute) so that by the time you're back in the lobby, your penalty if effectively over. If this keeps happening and that penalty time rises, then you will need to sort out your own internet connection, as that penalty will continue to increase.
Is it possible to implement a penalty for DC during loading screen? I'm finding a lot of people deliberately DC when they see a map offering they don't like and they get no penalty. Maybe make map offerings invisible to the opponent?

But none of that sounds like holding the game hostage in any way. The killer can just find the survivors. I've never had survivors that I didn't find after some minutes.
And my understanding is that holding the game hostage requires that the other players are unable to end the game. I only know of two scenarios where this seems feasible. One is bodyblocking a survivor into a location they can't get away from. Another is carrying a survivor to a corner then repeatedly dropping them, downing them again, and carrying them back to the same location. All other scenarios I can think of in the current game state can be ended by the killer finding the survivors.
If there were a location on a map that the killer couldn't reach, and a survivor just stayed there without doing anything, that would be holding the game hostage. But I've only seen one case of something kind of similar to that, and it was a location where a killer was unable to get the pickup prompt. Is there an official list of the kind of things that qualify as holding the game hostage?
Holding the game hostage also applies to avoiding the objective not progressing the match for a prolonged period of time. There's a fine line between hiding to be stealthy with the aim of doing gens and hiding for 50min with no intention of doing gens.

Bit rich to say "maybe the role isn't for you" coming from the guy who hates going against people who loop 😁
That's why I main PH and Myers. PH has pretty good anti loop power and tombstone Myers with pwyf is very handy for keeping the loops to a minimum. Just blast through the pallets 😁

Like presuming you're not playing like Trapper or Myers or the literal bottom of the barrel killers does getting a 4k mean anything anymore? I haven't lost as killer in literally weeks and my soloQ games meanwhile are completely miserable and it just feels like to me the balance of DBD went from completely survivor sided with infinites and quick gens and insta-heals to killers not really having to work all that hard to get kills because maps are much smaller, there's generally speaking much fewer pallets on maps and survivor perks are generally much weaker now so you're relying on teammates that have barely any game sense.
I'm not asking to go back to how survivors were as recently as 2020 that was awful but the pendulum seems to have swung too far in the other direction and now I don't even really feel like I can be happy about going on such amazing winning streaks because they feel like they've practically been handed to me at this point. I've played probably around 35ish killer games this week and I've had to actually put in effort in maybe 2 or 3 of them? So I don't know what's going on idk if killer as a whole is just overtuned rn, all the good survivors stopped playing or if I'm better than I think (I think I'm very average personally) and a lot of killers that arn't me are actually struggling right now.
So I guess my question is to other killer players and I'm just asking how you're doing? Have your games been easy recently or does it feel like you still have to really put in effort to 3 or 4k?
4k is always tough when 2 survivors hide at the end. I main PH and Myers (mostly Myers). I get a fair few 3/4k with PH if I hard tunnel and think "no survivor handbook rules, go for the win" if I play chill then I'm lucky to get 1 or 2k. Myers is a whole different story tho, it's been months since I lost with Myers. Worst I have done is 2k on autohaven. But that's partly due to so many survivors giving up at the sight of Myers or after the 1st tombstone. If it's solo and 1 gets mori, 1 quits the other 2 either hide for hatch or just give up. If it's swf and 1 decides they don't like the map or the killer they all just follow suit and give up.
Not all matches are like that tho, some people like playing against Myers because they find him scary so will play it through knowing they won't win because they like jump scare Myers.

Saying people complain about everything isnt an argument, it’s just a way to dismiss criticism without engaging with it. If we ignored all feedback just because complaints exist, no changes would ever be made to improve the game. And this mentality is absolutely not exclusive to one “side” there are many recent discussion posts about wanting to completely delete SWF all together or for players to receive penalties for play with friends. Everyone complains, because everyone has opinions.
Many killers before the current balance changes felt the same way many survivors do now—frustrated with their role, unable to enjoy playing, and feeling like they had no control. Thats why changes were made. If balance only matters when one role struggles but is dismissed when the other does, then the goal isnt balance, just bias.
Also, if the response to being body-blocked and slugged for 15 minutes is “maybe the game isnt for you,” then what does that say about what kind of experience people are expected to accept as normal? That is griefing, and I don’t believe it should be dismissed regardless of what role is doing it.
Many killers tunnel and slug, because it offers them more than playing for hooks does, which is why many feel it should not be discouraged. It’s not against the rules even though many acknowledge that it is universally unfun and that it does massively tip the scales which is why it’s so effective. Essentially, why should killers make the game harder for themselves by not playing this way? That same exact logic can be applied to SoloQ and SWF. Many killers struggle against SWF, and also acknowledge that it massively tips the scales, and can be very unfun to face. And as stated earlier many want nerfs or ability to SWF to be removed from the game, even though just like tunneling and slugging it is not against the rules to SWF. But what incentive do survivors have over playing SoloQ instead of SWF? What incentives do killers have over hooks instead of kills? Currently none.
No matter which role you or I or anyone prefers— Justifying griefing like this and ignoring majority of frustrations, only pushes the game to a more competitive and stressful place because there is becoming less and less reasons for killers to hook and less and less reasons for survivors to play solo. And both of those are the root of most frustrations for both roles of the game.
People are entitled to their opinions but at some point it becomes a case of yet another complaint. Too many and you risk none of the complaints being addressed because why bother when it appears nothing will make you happy? In agree the body blocking warrants complaint (although I'm not sure why they didn't wiggle, maybe the killer thought they were afk so wouldn't mind if the game was dragged out) but I don't agree with bringing perfectly fine tactics like slugging, camping, and tunneling into it. It's like me playing call of duty then saying I don't this game, I don't like how people can kill me from a distance, I don't like how it's real time combat, I don't like the 3D maps and list a load things that make it what it is. Changing it would make it a top down, rouge like, turn based, sword fighting game.
My point is, this is the game we choose to play. Choosing to play a game where 1 in 10 matches has any GamePlay. If you don't like it fine, why continue to play? So many survivors say it's boring when killers do certain things. but the objective of the survivor is to sit on a gen and do the occasional skill check and chases are people going in circles around the killer and hopping from pallet to pallet. but that's the role people choose to play and then complain when they lose and blame the killer and whatever tactic that caused them to lose (slugging, tunneling, even perks like noed or a particular killer)

Survivor gameplay needs to drastically change from Generators, Pallets, Vaults, flashlights, toolboxes, medkits everything needs to change it's been 10 years and gameplay has been the same stale old thing.
Devs gain some courage and make more changes
So what your asking for is a different game? Maybe try TCM?
-
Im not a fan of any time limited game modes really. Usually comes with something I don't like such as body blocking snowmen or random perks. And they always seem to split player base between both modes making q times longer. Especially in 2 v 8. I just do the tomb challenges then go back to regular mode. Although 2 v 8 was fun when I eventually got a match.
-
And yet the survivors escape rate is about 40% which is what the Devs were aiming for. The nature of the game is that it's supposed to be challenging for survivors to escape. It's not supposed to be the looping frenzy that it was becoming, where survivors feel comfortable to literally run circles around a killer with no fear or urgency at all.
I played a few survivor matches earlier and I escaped couple times. Died more than I escaped but that's to be expected.

You're… joking right?
How does a console player send a PM to a PC player? They can't.
If someone sent a PM to anyone asking them to follow their stream, I guarantee nobody would. The whole point of advertising a twitch via a username is that you are not directly asking anyone to go to your stream. It's like a billboard. You can see it and choose to ignore it, but those who are interested can follow up as they see fit.
Some people want to stream but do not have the financial wiggle room or desire to drop $2500 on a decent computer that can handle a stream at good quality and a game simultaneously. Some people want to stream from their console that they already have paid for. Saying "get a PC" when the issue is only this game's implementation of crossplay is… an interesting take to say the least.
Console players can't use keyboard and mouse. Fact is console players don't get the same as PC players. If they want to stream and use chat and only say their stream in the chat so killer can't see then until they add chat to console they need to get PC. Otherwise they are stuck with the billboard. To my knowledge console players can't use keyboard and mouse so if they want to take advantage of the mouse 360 turn that alot of survivors do then PC is the way to go.

Half the players in this game are console players that don't have access to chat. What is the solution for that?
Send a PM? Or get a PC to stream? PC has always had more upsides like keyboard and mouse that console players don't get so the ability to chat is just another part of it I suppose
Nothing stopping people streaming, don't need to announce it to people. If they want viewers and put TTV in the name to get more viewers then they can't really complain when they do actually get more viewers (killer viewing).

You guys really need to stop over complicating the solution to map offerings. Just remove them, and free up space on the bloodweb for more BPS. Fixes the issue and has a better upside.
I would be fine with that. Have they actually sorted the random realm selection out? I read somewhere that they were changing it so the same realm doesn't get picked twice in a row or something? That would help a lot because the main reason I bring offerings is due to the random map not being so random, it always gives me something like wreckers, cold wind farm or McMillan when no offerings are in place. Rare I get Haddonfield or Gideon or dead dawg.
-

Imagine a map offering that does the exact opposite of map offerings. Instead of increasing the chance of being sent to a specific realm, it would decrease the chances of being sent to a specific realm. Do you guys think this would be a good idea for those who don't want to play on a specific map?
This would be nice, not sure it would work because sac ward doesn't seem to work a lot of the time. After survivors brought azarov key 3 times in a row I thought "ok sac ward, let's get a new map for a change" sure enough on the 4th match they brought azarov offering and I had sac ward.... What map did I get? Wreckers.

This now needs to be adjusted to a reduced time, completely gotten rid of, or only happen after 2 back to back DC. If I don't wanna play with a slugging legion running knockout then let me find another match in peace.
I do see your point but on the flip side if a killer doesn't want to go against a pro swf on a particular map or a bully squad then the killer should be able to go next without penalty? At least survivors have the opportunity to go next penalty free even if it's 4min slugged. Killer doesn't get that.

Is stream sniping cheating? I always thought of it as an invitation to view the stream when they advertise openly with TTV in the name. I mean survivors get info through coms and swf such as killer location, perks ect that they wouldn't get if they didn't use coms so I don't see a difference with watching/listening to a stream of a TTV while playing killer.

You know.. I used to be really decent at this game.. so did those i play with.. now?. not so much. The Game has become 0 fun… Tedious even. The Killers were already over powered beyond measure… We always felt like DBD was a 70/30 game.. Killer at 70 and Survivors at 30.. but more recently.. 90 to 10 most days. We have seen some killers come into the game and wipe out the whole team within 5 minutes of the start. They will come in and slug and slug until theres nothing that can be done.. If the killer slugs a player.. they can camp right on top of them… and nothing.. In the beginning the Anti Camping power bar was amazing.. until they updated it and not only made it way slower.. but also stalled it everytime the killer comes into range and made the camping area very very close.. The killer can literally almost be within in lunging distance and the bar doesnt move. I get it.. Toxic play is permitted in DBD.. Toxic play is even celebrated some.. Camping, Slugging, and Tunneling are 100% legit by the Dev rules.. No matter how hated they are by those writing checks that pay those Devs. Killer Mains take full atvantage of it as well.. I mean what are you going to do.. even if someone listed the Toxic vermin theyd just change their name for free.. I am beginning to HATE DBD like so many others.. but i have a lot of time and money invested in this Game and it is what my viewers want to watch me play.. They will put up with Fortnite some evenings, maybe a little CoD once in a while, but they prefer DBD. Even with the Toxic killer mains and the many many running cheats in the game unchecked.. It feels like DBD is a class room and the Teacher… The Devs etc have left the room so it can be ran by the Bullies.. i mean this is what this is in the end… It is a form of online bullying on a digital scale. You give one group the power, then take away any recourse or form of defense from the other group and then give the first group even more power… Group A.. The killer main now hav double the power and group B, Survivor mains have been relieved of whatever recourse they did have.. and they've been lied to about it with such things as the anti camp bar and the Fact that a survivor can no longer wiggle off the killers shoulder anymore no matter what build they are using… Unhooking yourself has also become impossible.. and killers are so petty and narcissistic they know this but wont admit to it.. They can honestly carry someone across the map even though that survivor hits every skill check.. with 0 effecting perks. They can move toward a hook only to have someone drop the hook and still make it to the next one. I honestly feel there are more hooks and they are closer together as Ive been hooked and could physically see two other survivors on hooks near me struggling. The Devs will not admit to this.. but it is true. There are just a few things that could set this right.. throw the survivor mains a few bones anyway.
- Slugging is an issue. Now with the FREE Mori at on the last survivor, Killers will almost always slug the final two. There should be a time period.. Once you've been put into a death state and just left… you should have an option to get back up in some form..skill check.. power bar.. something.. I'm tired of wasting time to "Bleed out" . 5 to 6 mins sometimes doing nothing… cant leave the game because that is illegal.. just gotta stay and wait..
- The Wiggle… If you're seriously not going to address this issue… just get rid of it and the perks that go with it. So dumb to have a game action that literally does nothing beneficial for the person using it. Killers have gotten so used to this they show off… they spin.. the random attack nothing to show the survivor its useless and futile to even try. They laugh because they know they have it on lock and that Devs have made it to where it is actually futile to even try.
- Get rid of the anti camp bar if your going to render it uselss.. its a damn lie to even have it. Ditch it, or take it back to how it used to be when it worked.. Devs are going to say.. it hasnt changed.. but thats also a damn lie and we all know it has.. its slower and has a hesitation and the distance has changed as well in benefit of the killer.
- For Gods sake… Face and accept the cheating you are allowing in this game. Banning someone for an hour or 6 hours is not enough. You know its happening and yet you are so light about it. Do something useful for the DBD community as one. I mean all the cheating.. Killer and Survivors. Your game is becoming worse than Call of Duty. Cheating Videos all over YouTube and TikTok. I personally clip everytime you notify me we caught one. They are on my Twitch for all to see.
- Streaming. A lot of us Stream DBD because the audience is massive. As Survivors, we cant see the name of the killer until the end. Why ? Make it so the killer can't see our names either. The Stream Sniping has gotten out of hand. Now.. Youll say.. you can always go into settings and fix this so no one can see your name and this is true, but many of my followers have become my followers from seeing my Name on DBD. I want other Survivors to see my name so they can come into my chat and say GG etc and possibly follow or more. What is good for the goose is good for the gander… If Survivors cant see the killers screen name until the end.. then the killer shouldnt be able to see Survivors Screen names until the end either. This is an unfair advantage to an already over powered character in the game and you know it is.. I beleive you made it this way and leave it this way on purpose as many have reported that a lot of DBD Devs are Killer main streamers.
This would indeed make sense if it were true. That means the Devs are running the game for killers in general to benefit themselves personally.. If they play this game with the rest of us.. you know those who use money to buy the game… buy character skins and buy new outfits etc etc.. THE PAYING CUSTOMERS.. and you know they do, and they majority are killer mains.. then it makes sense.. they are tilting the game even further for their own benefit. We are not asking for a lot.. were not asking for more speed.. or weapons.. or really anyway to fight back.. we are asking for a chance to play like we used… to at least stand some kind of a chance in this game like we used to.. We are asking for a slight amount of fairness and we are asking for a little equity in the end. Something to deter the slugging, the camping, the tunneling.. something to keep the game going and keep it fun without us just bleeding out in one spot for 10 minutes at a time waiting for it be over…. something to keep us from just disconnecting or out right just giving up.. Something to save this game before everyone says to hell with it and leave and all you have are a bunch of killer mains waiting hours in lobby hoping for 4 survivors to join. You know.. the way it was in 2 v 8… If survivors just quit… the game quits as well..
Would also like to point out survivor do have a chat in the lobby. You can make your name anonymous and just type your stream info in the lobby. That way killer can't see and your teammates can.
-
According the last stats I think the game is 60/40 which is what the Devs where aiming for this whole time. I know there are some issues as there always has and always will be (no game is perfect) but some people really don't do themselves any favours by intentionally making it difficult for killers to hook like the oak offering, flashlights, sabo ect.
You say "toxic play" but what you mean is efficient play. It's all part of the game, killer is there to eliminate players. Survivor has to avoid being eliminated long enough to escape. If you don't like being eliminated fast by being tunneled then maybe survivor isn't for you? It's crazy how many people complain about being a survivor, don't like being tunneled, slugged, camped, don't like noed, don't like Myers, blight, nurse or any killer they go against, don't like sitting on gens because it's boring. This is the role you choose to play. Every time someone complains about how my playstyle is "boring" and takes no skill, I remind them they are survivors and their objective is to sit on gens. That's boring and takes no skill too. Killers don't find being looped fun, going in a circle like scooby doo isn't exactly thrilling but it's part of the game and they accept that when they play the killer role.

You still pip even at grade 1. It is your grade that doesn't increase.
Not on my screen, at rank 1 iri when looking at the post match scores there is no pip indicator. Usually there would be 2 pips along the line but I don't have anything.... just a long line with no pips. Always happens when I get to rank 1 iri

Players will deny this until the cold death of dbd but the win condition has been and still is a pip.
Kills? Nope
Survive? Nope
If you gain a pip you win regardless of the overall outcome. Yes, the killer and survivor both winning the same match can be true. Players find this to be too simple and try to make it more complex.
Anything less than a 4k is a loss. I lose if I don't complete all the gens and escape. This leads to insecurities among the playerbase. Slug for the 4k. Rage over not getting hatch. All because people cannot accept something so simple.
How does one "win" if they can no longer pip up if pips are the determined factor for a win? Rank 1 iri is the max.

so the last survivor doesn't surrender the moment 3 people are dead. also, a last survivor that gets a hatch escape may maintain their morale to keep playing while not demoralizing the killer who already won. so yeah, i think it is positive that a survivor escapes via hatch even if it doesn't affect mmr.
in matches where the killers steamrolls the survivors kills 3 before 2 gens are done, this doesn't look like the survivors belong in that MMR bracket. They might benefit from taking the loss, lowering the MMR and going against easier killers. Maintaining the current MMR via hatch against skilled killers won't do them any favours. Maybe this is why so many survivors are struggling, been maintaining MMR via hatch instead of accepting the match as a loss which results in people hiding most of the match not doing gens and basically waiting it out for the hatch because it's easier than doing the objective (gens)
-
@piplup55 said:
because the only thing that "defines" a win condition is the mmr system.
but the game doesn't tell you how to win. it just tells you what you are there to do: survivors repair gens, open exit gates and escape and killer interrupts survivors, downs them and kills them.
i can get that, in the enclosed scenario of a trial, 4 survivors escaping is a win for the survivor TEAM and killing all 4 survivors is a win for the killer because they are the opposite ends of what the outcome of a trial can be. i might accept those as a definitive win condition, even if nothing proves it. but, everything in between is hard to classify because mmr says that a survivor escaping alone is a win for the survivor, and killer should at least get 3 kills to "win", even if there is nothing other than mmr to indicate it.
but is it really a win for a survivor to just open the exit gates and leave without staying behind to help, turning what could have easily been a 4-man escape into a 1-man escape and 3 deaths? is it a loss for the killer to get just 1 kill but the 3 others survivors escaped on death hook, injured and almost didn't make it to the exit gate at the end? there's nothing at the end that tells you that you "won" or that you acquired a "victory" other than a phrase that reiterates your fate in the game (you escaped/got killed/got sacrificed or you fed the entity well/the entity hungers…).
people take this game too seriously, especially killer players. altruism is normal between survivors because a lot of people play with their friends and want to escape together for fun so it's not sweaty to stay behind when they can already escape to try to help a friend that's in trouble. they don't do it to get a "win" against the killer, they do it so their friend doesn't feel bad for getting killed (getting killed too many times in a row really mines up one's morale you know). on the other hand, killers do slug the second to last survivor for no other reason than catching the last one and mori one of them in the end, which is sweaty af. the hatch mechanic is there for a reason, just let it go and let the last survivor have a chance at their escape, you already "won" anyway according to mmr…
If your going on MMR basis as 3k is a win for the killer so let last one have a chance at the hatch... The hatch doesn't count positively or negatively towards MMR. So why is the hatch so important? They clearly lost the match as they can't do the gens alone so why not take the loss? Works both ways. Killers want 4k survivors want hatch.

Yeah it doesn't at all surprise me that there's a very limited pool of survivor players to match against & that they've decided to SWF and bring map offerings, given the state of the game rn.
The offerings is fine but I have an issue with DC in loading screen if they see anything that might counter the map they want. I bring sac ward they DC straight away before the match starts. A new level of go next lol not willing to chance any other map or see what killer they go against.

They pick Azarov's offerings because those are all really stupid survivor sided maps. Azarov's Resting Place is just a free win for them once they split the map. And I believe you on the frequency of the SWFs. It's not every match every night for me, but I can tell when it's a SWF, and I get them quite often. Just the plays they're able to coordinate and the gen speed is so unfair, no matter what killer you're playing, what build you bring, what strats you use, they just can't be stopped or even slowed down. I imagine you get pretty bogus matches with your choice of killers, because they're about as good as mine (Deathslinger, Nemesis, Unknown, Xenomorph, etc) and none of those are simply good enough. The devs need to give killers a break and stop nerfing crap like D tier Freddy and Pig.
It got to a point that I couldn't get a match unless I didn't bring any offering or sac ward and just played on the survivors maps because if they saw sac ward or any other offering 1 would DC in loading screen. 8 times in a row played on wreckers because it was either that or not play at all due to DC. Never been held hostage before the match even starts before lol forcing me to play their offerings or no match at all

Many people put their own "win" or "lose" conditions as the game doesn't actually tell you if you won or lost. Many people think getting the hatch is a win even tho the hatch escape doesn't improve MMR but it is technically an escape that rewards points. Iv had so many survivors gloat and try rub it in post match because they got hatch and consider it a win. 🤷♂️ If I didn't want them to get the hatch I would slug 3rd survivor. if they think it's a win for them great.... Doesn't take away my win of 3k. Likewise some people think getting 4k by any means necessary is a win, including bleeding out survivors because technically the killer done their job (kill survivors and stop them escaping) regardless of points or MMR.
My "win" conditions change depending on what I'm going for. For example if I'm survivor and I'm going for totem challenge then I really don't care if I escape or not, just doing the totems is a win for me. If I'm tombstone Myers then I'm going for kills so 3/4k is a win for me because my goal is as many kills as possible. If I'm scratched mirror Myers I'm in it for the scares (which kinda gets ruined with swf on coms but that's another matter lol) and BP, don't care if I don't get a single kill. Others might consider 0k a loss but when it gives more BP than any of the survivors that escaped I take it as a win lol if I get kills great if I don't then doesn't matter.

You seriously can’t see how voice communication between teammates provides a significant advantage? wow…
Let me help:
- Negates the need for any perk that provides killer location info so perk slots can be opened for other more useful gen/chase/2nd chance perks
- Coordination of perks before the match even begins
- After killer hooks someone, teammates can call out which gen killer is heading to, giving survivor a head start on leaving the gen for safety
- Team knows who is going for rescue and who should stay on gens
- Team knows which pallets have been used already
- Coordinating which gens to complete to spread out distance between the final gens
- Coordinating flashlight/flashbang saves
- Coordinating pallet saves
- Coordinating body blocks and endurance protection hits
Should I keep going? All of these are benefits that solo teams without comms do not have access to.
100% agree, i often run tinkerer to sneak up on survivors doing gens undetected but coms negate that perk entirely by simply saying "killer left me, heading for you". By the time I get to the gen they are long gone. Soloq and swf are worlds apart.

It's amusing what you've admitted to in the past 7 days when I got banned for this:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/AV63KFXBSGLT/image.png
5 points lasts 1 month
Please keep comments civil and respectful, and a reminder the admission, promotion, or encouragement of ignoring Game Rules, including the rules on Griefing, is against Forum Rules.
Per the escalation Process, this will be a One Month Ban.
I have not been promoting anything beyond the rules of the game. In game advice is patrol gens, I can't be punished for being bad at the game and not being able to chase the survivors and hook them. If they lose line of sight or I can't hook for whatever reason then I continue to patrol gens as the best way to find survivors. It's not on me as killer to abandon the gens to look for hiders. That's not the same as what you said which is promoting actively hiding eternally being optimal strategy, that's promoting the opposite of what survivors shoybe doing (gens).
Can you imagine if killers were banned for being so bad at the game they can't catch the last 2 survivors? That's absurd.

Honestly what I am seeing and getting most is the last person is slugged just to get the mori… prolonging the game. They will camp that last slugged survivor until the other survivors die on hook. Then will mori the last survivor no matter if the they were right in front of a hook or not.
A bleed out button is definitely needed so survivors can bleed out faster so they may move on to the next game, or base kit unbreakable or both.
The insta mori idea is bad because that negates any soul guard or unbreakable chances. Killers really have no excuse to slug extensively or excessively any longer because of the hook respawn, and being that the only way to wiggle out is if you have teammates block or sabo multiple hooks, or the killer is just "lost"; definitely no excuse for waiting to hook. 99% of the time it is just to get the mori.
As far as the last survivor hiding… they are doing what they are supposed to be doing… surviving. That is on us as killers to hunt them down and kill them. They are waiting for hatch. Even match of 1v1 both going for hatch. RNG works pretty well IMO. Always seems to be luck of the draw unless an offering is placed. Hook the 3rd survivor and hunt the last and close the hatch to start endgame.
The problem is now that the game has been saturated with so much aura reading abilities that its become a crutch and heavily relied upon and most killers now lack the skill of hunting without the aura reading handicap on top of becoming lazy and complacent. Then have the nerve to say "EZ" in post chat when all they have are wall hack perks… get the 4k without any perks, tunneling, and camping… that would be impressive to me as a survivor.
Yeah I know… unpopular opinions… have fun- smh lol
If bleedout became an option I guarantee more killers would do what I do and not slug the 3rd... They would keep them alive as long as possible while protecting gens and looking for the 4th. There is a reason killers don't hook the 3rd...if bleed out was an option it would be no different to hooking with the suicides.

I've never been in a game that has went to server close before....
I think that's because killers slug the 3rd then look for 4th. Gives them 4min to find them so server wouldn't end. But if the killer doesn't slug the 3rd and both survivors are hiding then it can and does go to server end time (frequently with me because recently I have refused to slug the 3rd and simply wait it out to prove a point)

So weird about that scenario though. If I were one of those survivors, I'd do what the survivor on gens did, but expect to get chased at some point. Then if you wouldn't chase, I'd be trying to get you to run out your gen kicks and finish the gen.
Thats what the 1 survivor was doing, they would hop on a gen then back off. Throughout the hour they almost got the gen done. If the other survivor helped they could have done it. At least got my attention to chase them so the other could do gens. But I knew he was hiding across the map so I didn't bother chasing, just guard the gens.

I always take a moment to understand the game state if there are only two survivors and more than one generator left, then get on a gen (or maybe hunt down a Devour Hope totem). A lot of my solo queue teammates also get on gens if they know the killer is somewhere else (e.g. chasing me).
As killer, I also essentially never see both survivors hide for a long time, even if multiple gens are left with just two survivors. I will admit though, that I've spectated some people who hid while they tried to wait out their teammates. I tend to root for the killer to get the hiders when they're leaving their active teammate to take all the risks :/
In any case, I don't doubt that you get this happening a lot, but it always surprises me because of my own experience. I do kind of wonder if it's because of playstyle differences. I mean, shouldn't killer instinct make it possible for you to get one of them at some point?
I literally had a match a couple hours ago, at the end it was 2 survivors left, 1 gen left on haddonfield (all 3 gens were next to eachother) 1 survivor was attempting the gens but would back away when I got close. The other survivor was hiding the opposite side of the map and would not help the other survivor to do gens. As a result I patrol the 3 gens pushing back the one trying. In that situation I don't think the hiding survivor deserves the hatch. If both tried they both might die but they might get the gen done. Turned out game went to server end and both died.
Post game chat they said "had fun doing nothing for an hour lol" they don't care how long they wait they just hide out of spite, knowing they won't win prolonging the match. My view is simply if people play it that way I will play it the same way. I could have slugged the 3rd and went after the 4th but people don't like slugging for the 4k either. And they might have got the hatch for admittingly "doing nothing". This isn't slugging for 4k for ego reasons or entitlement it's denying people like that the hatch. I honestly think slugging for the 4k is a minimal issue compared to hiding for the hatch...4min v 1 hour that's all I'm saying.

I have reported many people for various things, it does work. just 2 days ago I had an in game msg saying thank you for helping with a date of my report I sent in few days previously. and said appropriate action has been taken. Just depends what your reporting. A lot of people report players for things that are not reportable such as slugging and tunneling so when nothing comes of it they wonder if the system actually works.

I pose the same statement to you, if survivors are fine waiting out the hour for a hatch that may never appear then you would think at some point time investment would outweigh that, especially as they don't get the win at the end. Works both ways. That was my point about the chicken and egg scenario. You had said:
With this sort of attitude is there really any wonder why people slug and don't care if it's wasting survivors time?If killers slug because survivors are going to hide, then survivors hide because killers are going to slug. Both sides are sacrificing a lot of time for a minute improvement and/or to annoy the other side.
It happens on both sides. I don't understand why as I will either get on a gen as survivor or patrol the map as killer, but it happens for both.
Killers don't slug because survivors hide. They slug because they know the hatch will spawn the moment 3rd survivor dies regardless if survivors hide or not. So to maximise chance of finding hatch before survivor does, the killer will slug to slow them down. Survivors hide because they know they can't do the gens with only 2 people left (suicide to try). So they hide and hope the other survivor dies first so the remaining survivor has a chance to get the hatch. So we know which came first, the hatch. That's the reason for both sides doing what they do. Why do survivors remain hidden when they know the killer won't look for them after about 15min? That's the issue, that's the time wasting without reason.

But we're talking about rationales here on human behavior. You can wait the survivors out if you want, though if you're patrolling gens and they are just on the other side of the map they're probably also doing something else on their phone or alt tabbing while they wait.
If you're fine waiting the hour for the 4k sure, but at some point I'd think time investment would outweigh that.
They have to do something to avoid crows, not much but if they tab out and don't move at all they will get crows. I could technically not move... I don't even need to patrol gens with tinkerer because when it gets to 70% I will know where they are. Just have it running in the background while I have some food or something while they are on the other side of the map avoiding crows.
I pose the same statement to you, if survivors are fine waiting out the hour for a hatch that may never appear then you would think at some point time investment would outweigh that, especially as they don't get the win at the end. Works both ways.
