  • I would allow players to earn one more Halloween costume for free thought the rift.

  • Umm survivors already do get add-ons; you equip them on your items. It would be extremely unfair if survivors also got a third additional add-on slot for their character, especially considering how strong some of these sound. Everyone would use Bills jacket for example.

  • So like what the point of a PTB? Isn’t it there so the devs can collect information like potential bugs? Why did they only find these game breaking bugs the day before the update was supposed to go live?

  • Please don’t let a video game ruin your real life relationships. It’s just not worth it.

  • The fact that they did not even give an ETA for when it will release is very concerning to me.

Is it going to come out later this week? Next week? Next month?? Who knows.

It could be that Claudette and Evan/The Trapper's pasts are linked, so it could be possible that other survivors/killers could have multiple links and have more than just the 2. I'd prefer to see more than just 2 per tome personally otherwise it would take a long time just to see all of the lore the game has to give

That’s an interesting theory. AFAIK the only killer/survivor pair who are somewhat connected are Jeff and the Legion. But maybe there are more connections that we don’t know about yet.

  • @SpaceCoconut said:

We'll probably only see one killer and one survivor for the most part. If there is an extra character in a tome, it'll be a survivor.

The killers are the main draw of the game, so it makes sense that they'd limit them in the tomes.

I hope it’s more than that. Since we currently have 23 original characters with more getting added all the time, only getting lore for 4 survivors and 4 killers a year would make the wait for some characters lore excruciatingly long. I don’t want to have to wait 3+ years to get lore for certain characters :(

  • @Volfawott said:

The current archives we're about to get is sharing some of its tomes with the blight story.

    Tomes about Claudette

    Tomes about Evan

You have tomes related to the Bright.

And tomes about the archives themselves

In the next Rift when most likely just going to get straight up character and maybe some more archives information.

So it's more than likely they'll burn through a couple of characters per archives

I could see that. Hopefully that’s what happens. Maybe like 5 or so characters for the next Tome.

  • I’ve said it once I’ll say it again this community is waaaaay to sensitive.

  • My friend told me about this cool new horror game that was coming out in summer 2016. We tried it together and had a blast. Played about a year straight and then took a break most of 2018. Got back into it on Ps4 the beginning of 2019 and have been playing ever since.

  • @Boss said:

I guess you'll just have to wait for David Kind to appear on the Archives.

I’m really hoping they explore more than two characters per tome, otherwise it could be YEARS before we get lore for some characters.... I doubt I would even still be playing this in a couple years lol.

  • I’m sure all original characters will eventually have their turn. I just hope each tome explores more than two characters, otherwise it will be YEARS before we get lore about some characters.

  • Yes I’m excited despite all the negativity on here.

  • Wait you’re telling me I can’t play trapper at red ranks with no gen slow down perks and still get a 4K??? Wow so unfair darn this gen rush!!!

  • Lauries and Mikeys are supposedly releasing on the 30th.

Im personally most excited for the day of the dead collection which is supposedly coming out Nov 2nd.

  • Im convinced the devs are never going to fix this issue unfortunately.

  • He seriously does not have one good skin

    1. I specifically ruled out the licensed characters by saying "no original character". Bhvr don't have control over them or their sexuality.

    2. Until it is shown in-game that the Nurse and Wraith are actually together (and I doubt it will ever be), I call bs, they just JK Rowling-ed us, besides it also sounds dumb, yeah an undead killer brought by the Entity to kill people also has a relationship with another character in the spare time, in what mainstream horror franchise have you seen that? Imagine Myers being in love with Huntress, yeah right.

    3. Why are people opposed to giving fictional characters sexuality? I'm honestly not, but left ambigous like that, a character can be whatever the player wants to be. Like I've said, if the OP wants David to be gay, he can be gay, if I want David to be str8, he can be str8. Besides, it's the horror genre, why do people care so much about sexuality anyway?

    1) Why does it matter if they are licensed or not? If people are so opposed to sexuality existing in this game, then they should be opposed to these characters as well. If anything, the inclusion of licensed characters with defined sexuality shows that it’s not a big deal and can just be a small detail to make the characters more interesting and fleshed out.

    2) Umm it is actually explicitly stated in game. Go read Nurses lore. Before she was taken by the entitiy, she had a husband named Andrew and wanted to have kids one day in the house they built together. Sounds pretty confirmed to me. As for the wraith, the description for his costume states that he and the Nurse are together to comfort each other in the world of the entity. No one is being “JK-Rowling-Ed” here, it’s literally been this way since the beginning. (Also there are a ton of horror themed movies where two psycho killers are in love)

    3) I understand the desire to leave it ambiguous, so as to allow the player to imagine the character how they want, but there’s nothing wrong with making it explicit either (which they already have with the characters mentioned above). After all these are not your characters, they belong to BHVR, and if they choose to leave it ambiguous, that’s fine and totally up to them! On the other hand, if they do choose to explore that part of a character, it’s also totally fine and up to them! And you as the player have no right to be upset over it because they are not your characters.

  • I love that this game has a huge following in the drag queen community lol

  • You ready to spend $15 for a dance? Lol

  • I hate teammates who get rewarded for purposely doing nothing all game.

On the other hand though, it is necessary otherwise games would last forever.

Steve and Nancy aren't original characters m8, talk to Duffer bros.

As for sexuality, no original character has a confirmed sexuality, so why bother? It's better like this, you can think of David as a gay dude, I can think of David as a str8 dude, we are all happy.

As for diversity, we still don't have an asian male character so imo that must be the priority for now.

Not true, we have both Nurse and Wraith who are straight. Plus all the licensed characters. Go read Ash’s lore and see just how much it’s mentioned.

And besides I don’t understand why people are so opposed to giving fictional characters sexuality? Like it’s fine if they don’t, but what exactly is the problem if they do?

  • Can we change the camera when you’re opening an exit gate? I’m trying to look behind me but all I can see is David’s fat tiddies blocking my view.

  • I’ll just continue to hit the skillchecks lol

  • More definitely can be done and needs to be done to close the gap. My biggest want right now is for a chase indicator for every survivor. This is vital information that swf gets that was immensely help solos.

  • Steve’s are almost always terrible.

  • Guys it was literally stated in the patch notes that being grabbed from a locker deactivates second wind. Go look it up.

Also second wind is TRASH. Inner strength is better in every way.

  • You nerds just don’t get it!

  • Some of the ideas that get suggested on this forum leave me speechless.

Both. People are saying that they can't connect to a character unless it's gay. I'm saying there are a lot more people who have issues with sexuality that would be put off by being gay.

If you can't deal with a character that isn't "gay" but isn't "not gay" either, that's just sad.

You can’t agree with both because they are literally opposing statements.

But it’s very clear to me that you agree with the latter one, otherwise you wouldn’t care about people being potentially upset by a gay character.

Also like I said earlier, I think it’s totally fine if BHVR chooses to not focus on characters sexuality. Totally up to them! But if they do choose to focus on it that’s also totally fine! And if people really get upset by that, that’s on them. 🤷🏻‍♂️

No, I'm not, but it's dumb to pretend that there aren't people who would be put off a character based on its sexuality.

"If you can’t connect to a character simply because they don’t share the same sexual orientation as you then I don’t know what to say." has been my whole point through this whole thread.

Do you not see the contradiction you just made?

    You agree with this:

"If you can’t connect to a character simply because they don’t share the same sexual orientation as you then I don’t know what to say."

But at the same time say this:

“We shouldn’t give characters sexuality because people will be put off by it”

    So which is it?

  • @anarchy753 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/765493#Comment_765493

I don't think killers matter as much. Each is unique in their power so 99.99% of the time that's what they're picked for, not their sexuality.

Survivors are interchangeable, and one of the reasons they have no "passive bonuses" which are asked for so often is so that the player chooses the one that most resonates with themselves.

Choosing a feature to include which is as likely to alienate people as it is to create a draw to that character just seems bad to me.

Are you as gay man alienated from playing straight characters? Because as a gay man myself I can tell you that I’m not. If you can’t connect to a character simply because they don’t share the same sexual orientation as you then I don’t know what to say.

  • @anarchy753 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/763769#Comment_763769

Because again, NO PART of the lore says any of those male AREN'T gay.

It isn't other people "projecting being straight" on them, it's entirely up to you.

Being neither confirmed straight nor confirmed gay is the most accessible a character can be because it opens that character to everyone no matter how they see them. David already has a large gay fan base but he also has a heap of players who probably see him as straight.

Giving him, or any other character a sexuality doesn't magically make them a better person or suddenly make them likable one way or the other, it only serves to detract from the players who now no longer have that choice or as close an association to the character.

I'm saying this as a gay guy; people take the sexuality of imaginary characters far too seriously if you can't connect to characters because they don't have the words "he is gay" stamped on the forehead.

Well to be fair, as one poster above us has already pointed out, there are in fact several characters in the game who do have confirmed sexualities (straight). Yes most of them are licensed but you do have original characters like Nurse and Wraith, and while it might be a small minority of the cast, it’s still there.

With that being said, I understand the desire to want a characters sexuality to remain ambiguous, as it allows you to project yourself onto them, but at the same time I think there’s nothing wrong with giving characters sexuality either.

And I’m not saying that there absolutely NEEDS to be a canonically gay character in the game, but on the off chance that BHVR did in fact reveal one of the characters to be gay, I would hope that this community wouldn’t lose their minds.

In the end of the day, it’s 100% up to BHVR what they want to do with their characters, and if sexuality is something they don’t want to focus too much on, that’s totally fine! On the other hand if they do decide to focus on it, (ya know since the archives are coming out it’s totally possible), that’s also totally fine!

  • When I play killer I’m playing a different character each match. Gotta keep things spicy.

As for survivor.... I pretty much only buy the new characters for their teachables, play them once or twice and then go back to David.

  • Day of the Dead outfit for David obviously.

Paying for convenience is the most sinister way to monetize something, because you deliberately create a system with the intention to frustrate the casual user to a point they just go ######### it, take my money and let me skip this hassle.

Instead of creating a good, enjoyable and engaging system.

Just ask yourself, is the battle pass something that helps the players to enjoy the game or just to create artificial exclusivity and cash grab? Will it allow future fans of the game to enjoy the system as well or they are just out of luck, because they didn't knew about DBD before?

The only thing exclusive in the pass are the charms. All skins will eventually be released to the store.

This was one of my major concerns when they first announced the battlepass and why I was initially against it, so I was extremely happy to find out that there is virtually no exclusivity.

If you have doubts you can finish it just play the free route and if you think the rewards you have reached are worth 1000 cells buy it.

    This x100000

You don’t NEED to finish the pass to get your moneys worth. It’s completely up to you to decide wether the rewards you have unlocked are worth the $10 or not.

That being said it’s still completely valid to say that you feel the grind is too harsh and should be reduced, which I actually agree with.

@PrincessPoop That describes pretty much every battlepass out there. BHVR didn't do anything unique with it. Many other battlepasses even have Challenges. Hell, even their "earn the 1k auric cells back," is the same thing you can do in both Paladins and Apex Legends with the currency form price per BP if you play it and grind it enough in that timeframe.

BHVR basically copied the same models already used elsewhere.

Which still doesn't change Pulsar's nor my stance on them.

So what exactly is your issue with them?

It's 10 dollars for a guaranteed skin. The pass is designed to give you as little as possible. The skins are even broken up to make sure you likely won't get the full set, encouraging you to spend more money to get through more tiers to finish the skin.

It's designed to make you spend more than 10 dollars,

$10 for a single skin is still ridiculous. The pass on the other hand has plenty of great rewards, and even getting two outfits would make it worth it.

And even better since the rewards are not timed exclusives, if you aren’t able to grind out to the reward you wanted, you can choose to not purchase the pass but rather buy it directly from the store at a later date.

This is one of the main points I think people keep ignoring and that is you can grind the pass before you buy it. If at the end you fee like it’s going to be worth it, then buy it. If you feel like the rewards that you grinded aren’t worth it, then don’t buy it and get what you wanted from the store.

  • @Theoretical_Heart said:

Consumer friendly? Lol. Literally unfinishable for 99% of DBD consumers. Friendly my ass.

While I do agree that currently the grind is too much and should be reduced, you don’t NEED to finish it. Let’s say you grind the pass and only get to like lvl 43 or something. You can look at all the rewards you would get by purchasing the pass and decide wether or not it’s worth it. Chances are it will be since you will be getting tons of cosmetics still. You might not get them all but it would still be a better deal than what we have now, aka $10 for a SINGLE skin.

  • Jane has the best fashion of all the female survivors. This skin would fit her perfectly.

  • Yeah it was definitely OP back in the day... unfortunately the devs decided that instead of balancing it to just throw it in the trash altogether. It’s the same thing they did with legion. Why try to balance something that’s OP and unfun when you can just throw it away?

  • @SpaceCoconut said:

Since the game is balanced around players rank 15-10ish, shouldn't the Archive challenges be balanced for that skill range as well?

If you're focusing on casual players for balance and want them to purchase the battlepass in order to drive them to play more, wouldn't it make sense that they would be able to accomplish the tasks tied to the object you want them to purchase?

    What are your thoughts?

PS: You need 700 rift fragments to finish the battlepass. Completing the archives gives you a total of 352 rift fragments. You need to grind 278,400 devotion xp to gain the remaining 348 rift fragments to complete the battle pass during the window that the rift is open. At 500 xp per 12 minute match, this is 557 matches that may take around 111 hours to accomplish.

    Good luck.

Your math is a little bit off at the end. If you say that your matches last average of 12 minutes that means you would be making at LEAST 720xp/match since xp is earned at a rate of 1xp/second.

So if you take the total amount of xp required (278,400) and divide it by xp earned per match (720) you are looking at 387 games. 387 games times 12 minutes means a total of 4,644 minutes or roughly 77.5 hours. This means you would need to play at least an hour a day to complete it.

That being said the grind is definitely going to be rough for even dedicated players and casual players are never going to finish it. I really hope the do listen to the feedback and lessen the grind.

  • Yeah his shimmer seriously needs to be removed. It almost defeats his whole purpose.

  • It happens a lot due to lag. There’s like 1000 reasons why the struggle phase needs to be changed, and the devs themselves have acknowledged the issue but haven’t done anything about it yet. Maybe they’ll fix it in 2020 if we’re lucky.

  • @HellCatJane said:

@PrincessPoop You realize. That they could offer the cosmetics for free? Or even cheaper than they do now, right? They are the ones that set the prices to $10 a set to begin with ...

Also, if you want to keep the prices the same, they could offer people who want to GRIND or do not have the money, a chance at obtaining it as well, by playing the game and earning, lets say shards. In order to buy and purchase things, somethings they ALREADY do this with, some not. I assumed it was due to time, they lower the prices later on etc. (Which seems fine, don't get me wrong.)

I'm just throwing this out there. They can alter and change anything they'd like too to make it more reasonable and fair etc.. Them making a "sale" or discount, thing... to me it just screams money grab, not "Oh, look how generous they are!".... ehhhh.. I mean.. I agree with @Pulsar... it leaves a bad taste. Hopefully they are not trying to "money grab" and stuff. I'll wait and see, before I judge like that. But it doesn't look that good, especially when you start considering how it doesn't look likely to be beatable or even slightly obtainable for everybody.

Disclaimer: I am not saying you are not allowed to make purchases, I am not saying they can't offer extra stuff that you have to pay for as they have been doing... That's not what I am saying.. Hopefully what I am saying makes sense, and I am solely and respectfully trying to express my views which may or may not disagree with yours. Thank you.

I’m sorry but I don’t really understand your post.
