I guess something about my playstyle just makes it moot? I swear, I've never done a moonwalk in this game once, just sneak around and every match I have at least poked everyone once. I've never had a match where anyone successfully hid from me.

To be fair, Ghostface can stalk around corners, it gets me super paranoid when I'm facing him and my Spine chill goes off. SUPER paranoid. So perhaps they also have a similar reaction.

I personally prefer sprint burst as it's my favourite exhaustion perk in the game.

Although when I do use lithe I use dance with me, made a rank 3 Billy DC whilst I was trying to do the Dance with Me rift challenge.

Ran it for a bit, SB I mean, but came back to Lithe. Idk what it is about Lithe, but my playstyle is just set with it now. After the exhaustion nerf, I changed to this playstyle since I thought SB was trash (I was obviously wrong), and now I'm so used to Lithe lol, I can't switch it lol.

I know someone who has been playing DBD since 2017, they still just run to pallets and throw them down without much thought. The amount of times I've seen him throw down pallets when the killer was chasing me.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/155313/anyone-else-get-super-greedy-with-pallets

Pallet efficiency is an important skill to have, as it allows you or your team mates to reuse those loops later on in the game. When I play killer in the early game I try and chase the survivor who isn't efficient with pallets. Meaning the survivor team will have a lack of resources in mid to late game.

Despite spending the majority of my games being chased by the killer, I often only need to use one or two pallets.

Lithe is probably the best perk in the game for pallet efficiency tbh then. Using that, you can preserve jungle gym and shack pallets for the whole game.

  • @ALostPuppy said:

I've recently noticed that a lot of killers are trying to bait pallets i.e swinging through them. If the survivor panics and drops it, they get hit through the pallet. If they don't drop it, they don't get hit and they get another loop. So I've tried to call when a killer is trying to do this and I think I've gotten pretty good at it. Extended a lot of chases this way. So yeah I greed pallets and it usually works in my favour.

Oh yeah, when they swing through it I just keep running lol, just to preserve it for a little longer.

  • @Bovinity said:

Pallet greed can get you in trouble, but I suppose it's better than throwing pallets at the drop of a hat.

At least when you're greedy you generally have the right idea even if it gets you into trouble in the short term. You just have to improve execution and you'll be golden. Whereas throwing pallets willy-nilly might seem like it gets you out of trouble, but is a bad habit you might never learn to break.

Yeah, broke it ages ago. I kinda greed on purpose sometimes, just to save some pallets, like Shack only to have a Meg drop it without looping it once...

Depends on the killer. If its Doctor then nah, but if its Trapper than definitely.

Yeah, and you should see me when it's a Huntress lol, I almost never drop it because they wind up, until they eventually stop then I get the stun.

I see. I usually try to run my builds without looking it up or asking anyone (usually they'll just recommend meta anyway)...so I thought I came up with the Lithe combo off the top of my head lol. Just sounded like a good idea. No wondering I've been having good luck.

I tried it for a while, but I like to be chased, so I stopped running it.

Hell no, I dick around too much. (I also only have like 100 hours on the game total, hah. And that's counting sitting around in menus all the time. I'm actually a big newbie.)

Probably could get to at least purple ranks right now. I tend to derank a lot messing around with survivors and doing challenges and helping out and crap. I'd never be Rank 1 no matter how hard I tried, though.

You're very knowledgeable for your hours. By 100 hours, I was a mini Ochido lol. Wp to you.

  • Tbh, if they do, we can actually see if she's viable lol, cause right now, you can't tell cause of the bugs.

  • Smashen is awesome lol, love his streams and vids.

  • Ok, so Myers and Oni are definitely the most fun for me (even if I don't have Myers on PC and just remember the good times).

I play Hag for fun, usually after facing a good one, I get inspired and have a ton of fun, same for Billy (although I'm not good as Billy).

Demo is one that's on the side, I enjoy her occasionally, her shred is super fun.

  • Ah, that's actually pretty neat. I like it, it resolves slugging for the 4k, giving the survivors a chance, but also rewards the killer in a sense.

Fun Fact: DS got buffed back when Enduring effected all stuns because Enduring made the DS stun timer barely over a second. The fact that when Enduring got changed they didn't revert the buff baffles me. I agree that Enduring should effect all stuns again, just make pallet stuns the same but give a reduced amount for other stuns.

If they reduce it back to 3 seconds, it'd probably lessen the complaining. Even though it is fine now tbh.

But my opinion on this is, hell no. Enduring was way too good back then. Leave it as it is, and reduce the DS stun to 3 seconds if you're that desperate.

    ...

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1297371#Comment_1297371

But when I say this I'm talking about the game literally being unplayable. Poor FPS is not unplayable unless it's 1 frame per second. 20 FPS is still entirely playable. It will suck, but you can manage. 5 FPS is a complete exaggeration. That's basically a slide show, I've never seen frame rate this bad, either from my own Xbox or watching my friends stream. Hell I doubt this would actually even happen on PS or Switch. MAYBE it's happened a few times over the course of the game's life span, but don't sit there and tell me it happens enough to justify a DC.

"I said if it's the other percentage of DC's, then I'm on your side, you had no reason to quote me again, and argue out the same exact point that I ended."

Then why are you arguing with me?

"Stop making a fuss over it and being a lil kid over it"

Gee I'm the one that shouldn't make a fuss over it and I'm being a lil kid. But then when someone DC's from a game because they have less than optimal frame rate that is still entirely playable that's not making a fuss/being a lil kid. Seems hypocritical if you ask me.

"you're also contradicting what you said earlier by now agreeing with me"

I'm not. This thread has been about people that DC to avoid a loss. People came in here to cry "but muh frames" or "but these bugs" or "but my real life problems" I wasn't talking about them. They made it about them and tried to fight with me about it.

"Also, stop repeating your same points"

Could literally say the same thing to you. If I'm such a lost cause why continue to reply?

    Just to make it clear:

    1. This thread is about people that DC to avoid a loss.
    2. If you have a GAME BREAKING issues or a real life emergency or something more important than the game, this thread is not about you.
    3. Poor frame rate, bad ping, or single instances of bugs that have no long term impact on your ability to play the game are not LEGIT REASONS to DC. Seriously you can tough it out in these instances and fix the issue AFTER the game ends.
    4. Vast majority of DC's fall into #1. A very tiny fraction fall into #2. Another tiny fraction (though likely larger than #2) fall into #3 which then people use as an excuse to DC and selfishly screw over the other 4 players in the game.

Nothing you say will convince me that it's okay to DC when you are having a bad time. Poor frame rate is a bad time. It's not unplayable. Being stuck without any way to move is unplayable. Having your character fall through the floor is unplayable. Having a completely black screen is unplayable. Getting hit when 10m from a window on time because of a lag spike is NOT unplayable. It sucks, but that's no reason to DC. You're never going to convince me it is, so stop trying if that's what you intend to do.

So you took it back? Then my goal was achieved ages ago, sorry, been only looking at your replies to me so I had absolutely no clue, you should've told me ages ago. But yes, then, overall I agree with you completely now, if you took it back.

I have stability net (50-60 ms). Too bad I can't read ping killer.

Wish that was a thing, it'd be more fair to survivors so they could at least know.

  • @Rydog said:

Matchmaking's #1 priority needs to be that the killer belongs to the same color band as the highest-ranked survivor in the group. This should be true 100% of the time, no matter how long it takes for a match to pop. It's not perfect, but short of a complete MMR rework, this would help fix the matchmaking mess, which seems to have just gotten worse and worse over time.

But most the community complained about queue times, hence the new system that was implemented. I don't know where I stand with it to be honest, I hated the queue times, but I also hate how rank 20's are being screwed by it too.

"I mean, they don't do it for their 'ego', some people do it because they CAN'T play."

The people that DC for this reason (or some kind of emergency) is very very VERY rare. I'm not talking about these people. I'm talking about the vast majority of people that DC to avoid a loss. Like overwhelming majority. 99 times out of 100, being generous.

I'm on Xbox. Frame rates suck. Still not an excuse to DC mid-game though. In most cases where bugs occur the game is still entirely playable. I can literally count on both hands in my 3k hours instances where a player, either someone else or myself, had some kind of absolute game breaking bug where they were unable to play, and half of those have been since the last update when killers get stuck at pallets/lockers/hooks. So I don't buy this "well the game bugs/there is an emergency" bull ######### because nearly every DC is going to be from salt.

"stop strawmanning and acting like we support it"

You are though. But pointing out that 1 in 100 DC's is legit and that any sort of bug or technical issue enough reason for it that's called enabling. Just look at some of the replies. They IMMEDIATELY jump to "well what about when I get stuck or something happens I need to leave?" That accounts for less than 1% of the DC's that occur. And like I said, those DC's are fine, but when you jump down my throat for calling people out on their bull #########, you're just making the problem worse.

'And like I said, those DC's are fine'

You never said they're fine, you literally said they're supposed to play it out in your little rulebook and enjoy the terrible FPS. Anyways, it's like you literally didn't read anything I said, I said if it's the other percentage of DC's, then I'm on your side, you had no reason to quote me again, and argue out the same exact point that I ended.

If some people DC because of frames, let them. If they don't wanna play at 5 FPS because they aren't used to it, let them DC. Stop making a fuss over it and being a lil kid over it, I literally said I'm on your side for the point your supposed to be arguing, which is that most the DC cases are to 'avoid a loss'.

You're literally wasting your own time going in circles, it's hilarious, and on top of that, you're also contradicting what you said earlier by now agreeing with me. Again, don't quote me unless you got something useful to say. Also, stop repeating your same points and contradicting other points. What are you even achieving out of it?

Suck it up and just play. Is it really that big of a deal if your frame rate is dropping or you are lagging to finish a game? I had a game about 2 weeks ago where I got stuck hooking someone as Billy. I would have won that game. But I didn't DC I just went AFK until they all left which was about 3 minutes (less than the time of the DC penalty), plus I got to keep my BP and credit for my dailies. IT IS NOT THAT BIG OF A DEAL. Just stay in the game and take the L. Leaving like that is honestly just an excuse to avoid feeling like you lost. "I didn't actually lose that game, I had bad frame rate/lag and DC'd so it doesn't count. My EGO is still intact." That's basically what's happening.

This besides the fact that, as I've mentioned, 98% of DC's are because the person is salty they lost. The amount of people that DC for technical or real life issues is FAR OUTPACED by the amount of people that DC because they are mad they got beat. And by saying "well these are legit reasons to DC" just enables people to DC even more for similar but less extreme reasons. Give an inch they take a mile.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1297880#Comment_1297880

Yea when you get 5 games in a row where the killer DC's when they got outplayed it's a little ridiculous. Then people here DEFEND THIS BEHAVIOR like seriously? There is no reason to defend these people. Legit unbelievable you guys support them. No wonder this game has such a massive issue with DC's despite penalties.

I never defended the issue, only the point. I think it sucks, and people DC on me a lot too, I get just as mad as you. I mean you really think I 'support them'? I hate DCing people, but if they legitimately have a reason, I can't get mad. Anyways, I've played on console where framerate was literal trash, so it wouldn't affect me at all even if it did happen nowadays, since I'm used to it, but for people who've never experienced the low FPS, I can definitely understand why they'd DC.

Anyways, the salty DC's I can never support, so stop acting like I do when I've pointed it out numerous times that I don't support them smh. But the DC's which have reasons, I can definitely understand. Anyways, I've had that hook bug before, never DC'd, in fact, I haven't DC'd in DBD since 2 years ago probably.

'Legit unbelievable you guys support them' stop strawmanning and acting like we support it, just deal with it, smh. If they can't play with low FPS, then there's no point in playing. And some people wont be used to low FPS like me, so I can definitely get WHY they'd want to DC. You need to open your mind to it as well.

I mean, they don't do it for their 'ego', some people do it because they CAN'T play. And I think your a console player, so you wont even understand what I mean by some people can't play on low FPS, as I used to, but if you play PC for a while, you will definitely see why.

Who even cares about an 'ego' if they DC? Such a flawed argument, people who DC literally show their name and basically humiliate themselves. So therefore, if people explain why, and say that they can't have played in the circumstances I'd happily take the L and move on.

Don't quote me unless you have something useful to say, and not driven of your rage of being DC'd on. ( just FYI in case you didn't STILL get it, if they're DC's from salt, then I'm on your side, if they have a reason to, then I'm not).

  • Also, I'd recommend levelling Jake as a starter, for Iron will, which can help you a lot. And run perks like Spine chill or Premonition to detect the killer. I know I tend to place my traps in spots where a survivor is likely to pass through when not in a chase so as to catch them by surprise and get a quick hit. After you have generated that fear you can change your placement so that they are always on their toes and walking slow.

Watch his vids, Michi traps routes and some loops.

thats what i thought but they still exist, you can end up losing 50% of a tier from it. and you cant evade any good killer for ages but myers is all about getting his stalk up, there are so very many loops which you can use easily without giving him much stalk such as jungle gyms, killer shack and just some common loops he cant stalk over. all wastes his time massively, cool killer and can be strong but i wouldnt say he`s a high ranking killer compared to some others sadly

If a Mike is following a survivor into a jungle gym at EW1, they're going to lose regardless.

  • Bad teammates, they're the bane of my existence. I sometimes get games with good teammates and even if we lose in those, it was fun.

  • Ngl, I think Dead Dawg Saloon sucks for both sides. Killer can be really obnoxious if they get to the main building and you have to break the walls, but survivor can be really obnoxious if you're NOT at the main building, considering how bad the pallets are and how they require no mindgame.

Then I'd rework Hawkins (again, no mindgameable pallets, all are unsafe) then Haddonfield (too safe, all pallets are safe and the walls are ridiculous).

Unpopular opinion: The Game is balanced for both sides, since all the pallets are safe even if there is a little of them.

  • Was she good at chasing though? Like, was she confident in her abilities, and was actually good? Cause she could've been mocking the rest of you. If she sucked as well, she's clearly trolling.

Yeah if frame rates are super low. It's doubtful they will be able to properly play. If they are a survivor, might be more akin to a meat shield more than anything else. Which i did come across a survivor, they didn't dc but they were suffering from bad ping. To the point they were unable to really move very well and couldn't even heal themselves with a med kit, due to how bad their ping was. Which well i figure frame rate issues would be the same. Since anyone who has played a video game and suffer frame rate lost, can know just how massively it can effect you, if the frame rates become super low. It can become more of a slideshow, rather than a video game. If the player is the killer suffering from these issues, i don't think the survivors will have much of a challenge. It will be more of a hold m1 at gens for a majority of the game. Where a survivor might be little more than a meat shield and won't be able to do much for their team. That and since people might be unaware of their issues, might end up risking their lives trying to save them from hook or taking protection hits for them, when due to how bad their frame rates are, they are running into walls all the time or keep getting jumped forward or backwards in time.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1296800#Comment_1296800

Yeah if someone dcs near the start of the game. Which i seen happen from time to time. I normally give them the benefit of the doubt, that it was due to their connection or something. That or when i see them running in place or seeming to take forever to cleanse a totem. Making me think, yeah that was connection issues right there. Heck sometimes my game crashes, when i was winning the match. It doesn't happen often, just every once in awhile. Which is when i restart my computer and that fixes the crashing issue for some reason. Since i know if i keep playing after getting a crash, the game just has a habit of crashing again on me, until i restart my computer to fix the issue. Than it just smooth sailing for awhile.

That and i think Monto got stuck in a game as wraith not long ago. Due to some bug where the game didn't count a survivors as dead, even when the end game timer reach zero, he was still stuck in the game. He won the game but he was still stuck in it. So he had no other choice but to dc from a game he won. That and there was one video where i recall Ozt dcing, due to the last survivor unhooking themselves in the basement. I think that was for more of gag but i recall the dcing screen, going you admit to losing and that you give up the match. So by dcing, someone has already they admitted they lost the match. So they have already taken the L as the op likes to put it, if they choose to willing dc and it's not due to forces outside their own control.

Which lately, i seen a fair few in game talk about how bad ping has been lately, that it seems to be higher than normal for some reason. So it could be a fair few have been suffering from connection issues or maybe it';s something with the servers. Not really sure.

Looks like OP had a bad game where people DC'd. :3

If you're getting suicidal over this game, quit it. Don't ruin your health over it.

Oh for pete's sake, leave the hatch alone. Its a non-issue bad team-member will be bad, toxic players will be toxic regardless. If we go down this rabbit hole we might as well delete the entire game

Because trust me there's way more toxic stuff in this game then a hatch. The hatch is healthy it provides last minute stakes and leads directly into a potential endgame collapse

Honestly, these threads are KILLING me.

Sorry not a valid excuse. Unless it's an actual emergency like your kid just cut their finger off, take the L. It sucks when ######### like that happens but it's not enough to validate a DC. Just do what you can, play out the match, and accept that you lost. It's cowardly to back out of a game like that.

If their framerate tanked, then how could they keep playing? It'd be too difficult to play since they aint used to it, so it's best to leave the match and sort out the issue.

Aside from reasons like that, people who DC are horrible.

I guess it depends on the person and the build. I just wouldn't put him at high tier,at high rank play. Everyone obviously goes from their own experience. Personally I feel like he was super good until people learned how to go against him. You can't stun the Huntress just because she threw a hatchet, and cancel the hatchet at the same time,to top it off. You know what I mean? Plus you have multiple hatchets before a restock, unless you are using Iri's. If he could fire more than one shot before having to reload,I'd definitely have a way higher opinion. I don't even like using him anymore and I prestiged him once or twice, lol.

Yeah, I think Huntress is way better anyways, just that Deathslinger can be really lethal in the right hands.

  • That could never work.

The way you fix SWF is by giving solos more information. They should just make things like bond/kindred and a few other information perks baseline. Give survivors a totem counter. Then balance the game around that information. You can't nerf SWF. The best way to do it is to buff solos and then buff killers to compensate.

Yes! I agree with you completely, honestly, been saying it all the time but nobody listens.

He`s weak IMO, relies on bad survivors feeding you stalk, some maps make it worse and decent survivors can counter him pretty well. like hes not a bad killer i just dont see him as strong as others, plus he still has stalking bugs so i wont touch him

They fixed the bugs, I think. Also, no good survivor can evade a Myers for THAT long, not with how open most the maps are, and he can stalk through tall grass and corn.

  • Yours took my by surprise with the Spirit being so low, here's mine:

I wouldn't put Deathslinger in that league at all. I'm kinda surprised. I feel like he's almost completely useless against a survivor that knows anything. Slow ish. One shot then reload. Spear can be cancelled or just not hit,for a million different reasons. It's definitely not like having multiple hatchets.

But, if the 'Slinger is precise, he can be a huge threat.
