I can't seem to mark anyone with GhostFace, anymore - I always get insta-broken out of Shroud even from behind corners, other side of walls, etc.

Used to do really well with them :(

It's hard, I think in maps with very open spaces like new Haddonfield, he is just tough especially since it appears you can be viewed through glass and windows.

But I have to say, compared to playing a stealth killer like Wraith or even Onryo, I feel like I actually have a power when playing him. I can use it to better effect then just hoping to catch someone off-gaurd, you actually have to somewhat respect stalk with how long you can be exposed and the fact you can't reveal him while exposed

  • @gendoss said:

That's great because ghostie has been getting a lot of hate lately. He's definitely underrated you just have to play him, ya know, in a more stealthy way instead of just being shrouded in the middle of a field.

Very unpopular opinion but I actually love his new chase music, I hope they don't change it too much.

I actually don't hate the music either, it's appropriately intense for his theme imo.

And I agree, you have to be very deliberate on where you chose to mark people, because of you don't account for los blockers (or the lack thereof) you will have a difficult time with new GF. I just get a kick out of catching someone off gaurd with a stock and having the look around for me, only to waste time and get cut off before a pallet or vault is reached

Despite what some people say, yes it's 100% possible but it comes with a lot of risks and penalties. Sony would have the individual(s) banned in a matter of hours and that would be the least of the cheaters' worries assuming they aren't fined.

Part of the issue is that some people jump on the "No it's impossible to cheat/ hack on console" bandwagon and it downplays the seriousness of the issue. It's rare but it does occur. From my understanding, lag-switching is possible on console and a much more likely scenario because it's harder to prove even with a recording.

Take my scenario for instance. The player is a PSN user but between the video and his inbox messages with him bragging about purposely targeting Bubba Killers, it's very likely that he did something (why would anyone brag about it if it wasn't true?) I've had issues with lag-switching in the past when coming into contact with only specific survivors. You'd have to watch the entire game on my Twitch but that Red Icon only appeared once during that entire match. It was after I started chasing this one survivor and shortly after he noticed that the flashlight wouldn't have any effect. Almost any other scenario and I would agree that I had a connection issue but the timing was far too convenient. Again, the dude is still messaging me even now. At this point, I'm just saving all of his messages for evidence if this goes anywhere.

I'll take a look, but it's entirely possible he was just trolling you when he said what he said.

  • @EQWashu said:

Ghost Face is a lot of fun; both for standard gameplay...and games no player in the match takes 100% seriously and you wind up having a buttdance-off with the survivors for a few minutes before going back to semi-normal play lol even got a snoot-boop as Ghost Face once UwU that was a good match lol

My personal comfort map for him is anything Macmillan, I can get especially sneaky stalking on Coal Tower lol

I know you mentioned not being able to get cosmetics yet, but are there any that catch your eye to get first? (I personally needed the Scorched/Blighted one when I first locked eyes on it)

    I just had a match that ended in a squat-off. I call a squatty party 🥳

Csmetics wise, I'd really like to get the Viper ghost skin! The face mask is awesome, I also really like the scorched ghost face skin (just like most of the blighted costumes). But if I was going to only buy two, I'd probably main the classic ghost skin

What's fun with hag and CoH.....find the Boon and don't snuff it. Use the shackles addon and trap the boon area in locations that survivors would go to hide and heal.

Then wait and watch their reactions when their safe area isn't safe lmao.

That is wickedness and you are a skallywag, sir! I love it!!

That's why I play Doc I love his laugh and he can be really fun to play. But I can't seem to play trapper....he's just way too weak to play for fun. Now Hag with shackles and severd ear is a fun combo lmao

Unironically love playing trapper. Also used to be a hag main, maybe there is a connection there 🤔

  • @Shaped said:

    My condolences.

Jk I play weaker killers myself and sometimes have fun with it. Recently started playing gf too and memeing around.

Tbh, I've been having a lot of success with him recently. He's weaker, but I don't feel like he's the absolute weakest as I previously did. With certain builds he's actually not too awful, but he's still not beating a really good SWF

  • @Coordi said:

Important follow up question: which cosmetic will you be maining as well?

I'm only using his base cosmetic for now, I... Can't afford to pay for them at the moment lol. Very recent convert

  • So I get from the other comments that this was mostly a lag issue, but I have actually had legit cheaters in my games before, only I've always seen that they were PC players... So my question is, is it actually possible to hack on console as well?

Because I assumed that was exclusive to PC, and if not, I've given far too much credit to some folks who I was suspicious of in the past...

  • @Nos37 said:

Onryo has a similar bug where she cannot manifest. She starts the trial somewhere in between manifested and not. She keeps her passive intermittent visibilty, but can hit. It goes away after Projecting or hooking.

I think at this point, it's basically every killer woth an activation power, because It seems to hit every single killer while channeling or switching to their power/unpowered mode.

  • @Brokenbones said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2939068#Comment_2939068

Marking people and insta downing them = A shorter chase

Therefore his power can help shorten chases.

This is the same with Myers as well, I classify it as a 'chase shortener' power. It doesn't help you against things like pallet loops but it does make a chase shorter. 99ing survivors with ghostface also gives him a decent defensive option too

Killers who have the potential to instadown also create deadzones faster as survivors won't be able to get as much out of their resources, theoretically

Sadako has none of this, her mobility is good but it doesn't make up for the weak chase game.

As a new brother to the ghost main order, I must agree with this. Ghost face is a legitimate threat when played well (especially with certain add-ons).

Sadako is scary with her 2 best add-ons, otherwise she is a handicap.

  • I've had this bug present itself when playing Legion. I activated his power and was hit with a pallet at the moment of activation, it made it so every time I stabbed someone, even with a downing hot, they would go down as if downed for a second, then get back up with deep-wounds... Fairly hilarious, yes, but also annoying because it was happening in the middle of a very tense game, and deflated the whole game...

Until someone decided not to mend and I picked them up, which reset me to default and I could attack and use my power again. Ended the game after with a 3k I believe

  • I think it would be pretty cool, they should pick Muriel Bagge

  • I have 911 on speed dial...

  • @Laluzi said:

Twins are next, but beyond that? Freddy needs another overhaul, because his last one was terrible. The end result is quite probably the most forgettable killer in DBD. Nothing about him feels like playing Freddy Kreuger, his addons are unanimously useless, and his kit is just an underwhelming mishmash of things that other killers do a much better job of. For a time, he was boring but strong; now he's just boring period. I suspect they don't want to touch him anymore, but ugh, he needs it. It drives me crazy because there's so many cool immersive things they could do with the Dream World that they just... didn't.

Pig and Myers are probably next up on that list. Pig suffers from a bad chasing power, clunky and slow stealth that hinders its usage, and heavy reliance on RNG, and some elements of these need to be tweaked in her favor. And Myers just got power crept from when he was released; he fares badly with the current speed of games and just generally doesn't have anything to help him catch people. That said, his kit is the opposite of Freddy's; he feels incredibly faithful to Halloween and I really wouldn't want him to lose that. Myers is one of my favorite killers to face because he creates genuinely spooky games... when he doesn't get looped for seven years and gets his first down at one gen left.

I agree with Freddy. He absolutely feels baseless at this point, and considering everything he could have had, I never would have thought the most sleep worthy quality about him is his kit 😴.

I also don't think Myers should get a full in overhaul, but to be quite honest, I'm falling in love with a specific build on Ghost face, and I actually think he feels way better to play right now. Myers might just need an extra something to his kit, someone suggested starting in the equivalent of level 2 by default, but I wonder what benefit they could give him beyond just buffing his initial move speed.

  • @IlliterateGenocide said:

Twins was announced to get the next changes.

There either going to completely change there unique power.

    or nerf them again somehow

Maybe, maybe not, I doubt they get an extreme overhaul of their mechanic, as in it still not involving controlling either Charlotte or Victor. I just hope what's done isn't as simple as "Victor does when near hook for x seconds" and a few add on buffs to compensate.

  • @vanGlasse1 said:

I feel like Myers and Hag have remained the same for too long, they sure could have some tweaks on power and addons to make them better to the current game state (both as buffs and nerfs on some aspects).

Pyramid could get an addon pass and Freddy absolutely need one.

the ammount of Blight's addons that could/should be nerfed is ridiculous and some people seem to agree that Nurse could have some nerfed as well (I don't have enough experience against/as her to say though).

Sadako deserves some love in the form of buffs as well imo.

I actually don't see hag doing too horribly as she's always had a decent trap hit n run hybrid style, but some levels are a pain for her. I think she's in a goo enough spot where she could forgot a pass on the immediate future, but she could possibly use another add on pass.

I don't think Blight or nurse need any drastic nerfs, but add on changes are sure to come, as Nurse basically doesn't need the most complained about ones, and blight has a maybe two problematic add ONS, but one for sure is getting booted.

  • I understand the cynicism, especially given the penchant to make killers ever so worse every couple of pass overs, but I really can do nothing but pray they make good decisions with this change, after seeing the more positive response to something like say, legion, vs. the almost no response to say, someone like Ghost Face.

  • It would be interesting to see PWYF affected by this, one way or the other.

  • @dugman said:

Sadako hasn't had her full balance pass yet so we'll probably see that this summer.

One could only hope, I still enjoy playing her and anything to smooth her out will be very appreciated

  • @sizzlingmario4 said:

They announced Twins was next, but besides that:

Trapper, clown, and ghostface need more changes.

Myers and pig could use updates as well.

Sadako needs some more help. She’s miles better than she was on her ptb but it wasn’t enough.

Freddy, and I hate to say it, probably needs another rework.

    PH needs an addon pass.

Blight and nurse need their addons toned down (and a lot of nurse’s are also terrible and should be reworked). Nurse might need a base change or two as well; blight I think will be fine with only addon changes.

    Might be forgetting about someone.

The fact you could name that many and worry you forgot someone 🥴 lol game needs a little help obviously I was being generous in my call-outs. But I'm sure one way or another we'll get changes.... Can't wait to see what they do to twins lol.

  • I'm actually a big fan of them giving every killer their lobby music. I love how so many of them fit the theme of the killers so well!

Artists music is amazing because it sounds like it is directly inspired from a 1960's horror score (such as the birds) and feels so fitting to her character as well.

But my favorite is Blights music. It sounds so tragic, given his backstory it feels so appropriate. It also feels like a hint to a the romantic era classical style, a reference to Bram Stoker's Dracula. Amazing!

  • @CashelP14 said:

For me Myers is the most in need to changes. His basekit is probably the weakest in the game.

There is quite a few killers who need add-on passes. Freddy and Pyramid Head to be precise.

I really enjoy Myers with only two builds, and one is highly unfavored by most players. I definitely want to see him buffed as well, but I don't know what they'd be willing to do for him

  • @Blueberry said:

Pig, Trapper and Sadako need a lot of help. However they already said Twins was next.

I'm actually scared and excited to see what happens to the twins, I still play them a fair bit

  • @MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:

Freddy and Pyramid Head needs add-on pass.

Ghostface needs another buffs, he feels weaker than before.

    Trapper needs serious base-kit buffs.

    Myers needs base-kit buffs.

Twins needs some buffs and QoL changes.

Nurse and Blight needs add-on nerfs.

I completely forgot about Freddy because he's so off my radar now-a-days... Lol I am one of the people who wish he could return to selectively putting people to sleep, maybe without the gen speed reduction but hindered and heal speeds reduced. Also he should get way more traps/fake pallets, and he should always have access to both.

I agree with almost everything in that list tho.

  • @sizzlingmario4 said:

So I play with mouse and keyboard, but I’ve been told by several others that boil over’s increased stagger was a significant problem for killers using a controller. For those of you who use a controller, was the recent nerf from 100% to 80% enough to make it more manageable, or is it still an issue?

For me, it's mostly fine now. It was only very frustrating with the auto 30% from drops, now that you have to recover an amount it's not so bad, but I think it's still annoying for hiding hooks on certain maps with huge gaps.not too proud to admit that's cost me a hook or two in itself, and I consider it just barely outside of meta as much as I see it

  • @dugman said:

Played him a few times since the update and did fine. I fully Mark survivors from a distance now more often versus trying to 99% Mark and then finish in close and it seems to work ok. The Mark lasting 60 seconds means you have quite a while to catch that person later, and worst case they get spooked off the gen they were doing for a bit while you switch targets. Plus the Marked survivors can’t break you out of stealth for 60 seconds which makes it a bit easier to stat cloaked to ambush someone else if you switch up who you want to chase. Going for 99% still can work too obviously, but you have to be a little more careful with it since survivors have a bit of an easier time breaking you out of stealth if you’re in the open.

The one thing I do see people do badly on streams with Ghost Face sometimes is not using cover to hide their approach. He’s not invisible, after all, the stealth is just hiding the terror radius and stain, so if you’re not using obstacles to break line of sight approaching a gen you’ll probably get spotted and maybe broken out of stealth.

Also on a side note you can use the stealth breaks to find survivors trying to hide from you, so it’s not all bad even if they do knock you out of it.

That's kinda what I'm trying too, longer distance stalks instead of closing in early, taking advantage of the other stalk time, whether that means chasing another survivor for a health state in between or applying pressure to gens.

I don't know if this is the case, but was the distance for his own stalking increased as well?

  • @JaviiMii said:

"How are you playing ghostface?" - Not very seriously. I just find it hilarious to play peek-a-boo and (maybe) give a survivor a bit of a scare when they get exposed status --- and then proceed to chase them "teabagging". Are survivors special stupid today? I literally got not unhooked 4 times in a row. I always juked the killer for 2 min and after he hooked me nobody came... I reached second hook and then got camped or just let go because nobody came. Why do people not unhook others even with kindred? So stupid its a 4v1 game so they should work together.

I've noticed this ALOOOOT lately. It's getting ridiculous, and I guess it's a good sign because it shows new survivors players are still joining the game, but I run kindred for a reason and still see on average 2 survivors doing absolutely nothing but making no progress towards me, literally scared to death of the killer that is chasing the new that was playing smart and doing a gen while eating for the others to save (which they have no intention of, apparently)

And solo que was going so well before the MMR change they did recently... Strange

Haven't seen anyone crawl almost as fast as the killer, but I have seen plenty of cheaters crawling faster than the killer so they can't be picked up.

I've had that twice on RPD, for some reason that is the hackers map of choice and I hate going there just because I can't tell which BS I'm in-store for.

I don't know I main Ghost Face and I'm doing a lot better with Sadako.

I played Ghost Face one time after the update never again.

Overall me too, but I want to give him the benefit of the doubt and get a few good games in with him. GF isn't new like Sadako so people didn't need to necessarily take time to learn (or re-learn, rather) how he plays. He got no buffer and only got easier to counter-play (although to the devs one credit, they gave him something in return, unlike with Deathslinger)

  • @Seraphor said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2934863#Comment_2934863

The answer is third person camera. Survivors can be completely hidden and still be able to see you, and that's never going to change.

You just need to work around it and assume that there could be a survivor around any corner. It's not that hard to adapt to, but you are very reliant on your surroundings.

I get that the 3rd perspective is to their benefit here, but I don't think for instance, you should be able to use it in a way where the camera exposes him without full los, like if Feng Min doesn't have eyeliner of me, the player can angle the camera to where they bird's eye view me over the tall side of a car loop, I don't think that should be a thing, it should work more like spine chill where it is strictly within a cone of vision proportional a 45 degree LOS within the models eye cone.... I just think without that, playing outside maps is pointless and he becomes less powerful then Sadako

  • @Seraphor said:

Not a huge sample size but I had one game with him yesterday for the daily and it went great.

Lucked out with Midwich, got 6 marks, 5 of which were successful downs, and wasn't revealed once.

He's definitely weak on outdoor maps, but as long as you can put an obstacle between you and the survivors then you can prevent being revealed.

I was using his "reduce reveal range by 8m" though, which to me sounds pretty strong. They should probably reduce the default reveal range by 4m and have the add on cover the remaining 4m.

I think that would be fair, the reveal angles need work in general I think though, because getting revealed from a perspective where you can't even stalk them back is a bit rough considering you're in 1st perspective

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Sadako and Clown are way worse than Ghost Face.

I actually agree with clown... Kinda hard to say with Sadako only because of mobility, but his stealth mechanic is just better and he has exposed so it's very possible

  • @Cyanide2817 said:

What I tend to do is stealth the second I load into the game and try to stalk and down a survivor ASAP, once they're hooked I either get away a bit and stealth again then keep checking the area, usually I can find a survivor running to get the save and get them downed or I head to gens and check them and see if I can preassure them there.

I'm finding that the best strategy too. It's definitely a good idea to get an early down with something like Leathal pursuer if you can, then Play for the unhook. I try to balance returning to the hook and the closest 3 gen for that, be ause having no TR makes the pressure alot more palpable.

  • @DrDeepwound said:

I liked the idea of GF in the game, but I don't play him because I like more aggressive playstyles and refuse to "hide" from survivors and crouch around like that. I like Bubba, im coming after you and revving that chainsaw loud and clear so you hear me

Honestly I felt the same way as you do for the longest time, but tbh I'm kind of getting bored with a chase focused playstyle. I feel like GF's power, when it works best, is super fun because you just immediately scare a survivor as soon as the stock gauge goes up and if they can't find you, they're almost assured to go down instantly, and being exposed a whole minute isn't negligible necessarily.

If it wasn't so easy to remove his power in the first place, he would be quite legitimate I would think, now with some of his better add ONS, and basekit 60 minute exposed. It's like playing an assassin's Creed killer, in theory... The buffs he needs are maybe basekit DL and he shouldn't be able to be exposed unless you can see at least 50% of his body in frame. I've been spotted by crouching survivors on the other side of a car and its like "I couldn't even stalk you, how tf can you expose me?"

  • @sizzlingmario4 said:

It’s not something I’ve ever seen her do but with all the weird bugs in this patch I wouldn’t be surprised. Could’ve just been a hacker though.

That's what I thought by how they played, it was a little too perfect.... But I was running OoO for some goofy reason so I couldn't possibly judge that.

Also, have you noticed a big that makes downed survivors crawl almost as fast as a killer? Because I can't tell if that's a hack or a major bug either

  • This thread just shows why killers at a core, aren't allowed to be very fun. All their mechanics must be in the survivors hands to take away from them, the killer has to over-act in order to create plays, which is more of a risk to the killer.

Tunneling and camping won't ever go away unless killers can be buffed to the point they absolutely don't need it. And thus, short sighted-ness and band-aid repairs bring the game ever closer to the grate. Killer and Survivor experience continues to suffer

  • GF needed way more. Pretty sure this is it for him, unfortunately.

  • This is something I have been getting cucked by a lot lately, I don't know if it's a bug but I am absolutely colliding with objects from lunge more often.its gotten to the point I'm gun shy about chasing a survivor to a window from any angle except straight.

    Anyone else seeing this?

  • Overall I was a little underwhelmed with both killers changes. It's infinitely more easy to get a Mori with Sadako than it is to get close to a 5th hit down on Legion against good survivors, and GF gets revealed through keyholes and or survivors have ring cameras set up on every map (I honestly have no idea how much worse it's been since the update since I outright don't play this killer).

I will say overall I have more fun with GF now because he has some funky add-ons, but he's still very weak because his gameplay style is weak, and it's weak because no killer without anti-loop or a power to slow the game down in any way can possibly be good.

He needs to have the single strongest M1 stealth style in the game, reveal should be like the afterthought the condemned mechanic is on Sadako, because survivors shouldn't be able to take away his only power so easy if he doesn't even have a passive, and they do it with absolutely no risk because he has to stalk longer than Myers to get an expose but the survivors get a notification in seeing they're exposure status.

It's actually made me feel pretty pessimistic about any possible buffs/reworks going forward. I'm just starting not to care anymore, it's gotten to a point where any change is either meaningless or a backhanded nerf, aside from Nurse and Blight which make absolutely no sense.

  • Sorry to derail, but what's wrong with J.K. Rowling again?

  • @foxsansbox said:

Blight. He would be the most map-abled killer in that scenario.

Good point for blight over Nurse, actually

  • Ah, that makes sense..I never played GF much before now so I assumed that was already the case, but I can see why that is still really good.

  • I just tried sloppy butcher on Sadako, and I, uh, kind of ######### love it. I can't wait to try it with the add on that passes condemned through heals.

Legion still sucks imo, I don't think his buffs mean enough but his add ONS are absolutely more interesting at least.

GF was legitimately fun to play with his new add-ons, I was actually more excited to play him after legion disappointed me, GF did not. His add-ons are awesome, but I'm kind of confused as to what else he got because I thought he wasn't supposed to be revealed by the survivor he's currently stalking? Also the fact slugs can reveal you is obnoxious, and fixing his los issues seems to have meant making it easier for survivors to mark you in general... So I don't even know if you can call him buffed, but again he has much better add ONS that open up some possibilities.

1 2 3 4 … 13
