There's supposed to be an upcoming validation feature on the backend, if it isn't partially implemented already. It might help or make it worse, I don't have the skillset to really say.
If I understand it correctly, the game will perform another check to see if interactions are really "fair". It may be that VPN connectivity could be addressed with this feature, as the validation is supposed to check a number of variables and circumstances that led up to the interaction.
It could be that it makes it worse, too. But I wouldn't know anything.
-
Hey I also would like to say "thank you BHVR, but also spirit is no-skill"
Thanks BHVR. This game is great. Also, spirit requires 0 skill.

@danielmaster87 said:
We can debate all day about if it's fair or if it's a crutch, but see it for what it is: a 2nd chance. We talk about 2nd chance perks and stuff, but when you think about it, 2nd and 3rd chances are actually built into the core game.
How the survivors do on gens is irrelevant since it spawns no matter what, either when enough gens have been done or if there is just 1 survivor left. And people argue hatch is fair because a survivor can jump in, but not if the killer closes it first. That's the 2nd chance, and it's 100% RNG.
THEN for whatever reason, closing the hatch powers the gates, even if it was opened with a key. The killer can intercept the survivor opening the gate or they can't get there in time, and the survivor escapes. That's the 3rd chance. Therefore the initial defense of "But you can just close hatch!" is invalid, because even after that the survivor has a way out. Not to mention that the survivors could find another key and escape through it a 2nd time.
Can you kind of see why I want hatch removed? Killers have nothing like hatch, no 2nd chances built into the game. I don't want one either, because neither side should have that. Hatch is not skill-based. It's just something that exists for no good reason, and leads to a drastically different match result. If you want to defend it still, you must own that you're using a 2nd chance mechanic.
So does that mean RBTs, iridescent add-ons, and styptics are toxic second chances too huh?
Primary objective is irrelevant huh?
You have hatch FOMO, so you you think nobody should be able to hatch?
Sounds like you need to open up to new gameplay styles tbh
-
With the release of a 2nd killer who can execute with power/ability, it's pretty clear that Moris are going to be more accessible.
There's likely something in the works for survivors and more key accessibility.
It's pretty clear they're here to stay for forever.

If you read the entire post, I said that Kate can be purchased with shards, but her perks aren't useful, and I have no intention on playing her.
Sounds like a personal problem. If you don't want to unlock everything, you don't have to. If you want to unlock everything, that includes Kate.

Pallets have variable value. Some survivors are super convicted, in that you should always take the hit before dropping the pallet. Some straight up waste pallets. I'm sure that judicious utilization of the pallets is necessary, but the purpose of the pallet is to prolong the chase as well as put a barrier between you and the killer, for your safety.
As long as you have some resource management skill in play, you *should* be dropping every pallet you *need* to until the gens pop and the gate is opened.
Of course the killer has to commit to chasing you to run the full 5 minute loop, but that's usually the case in low and mid ranks.
-
Would you rather get downed and have the killer shake their head no instead?
-
RE could work really well. Bill and Ash have empty holsters, so the survivor aspect of RE would work. There's so many different and varied enemies and villains in the RE universe, that it's feasible to suggest it could fit in DBD one way or another.
Pyramid Head could work, he has that kind of psychology found within the entitys realm. Not to mention he has that triangle mask, masks being very prominent among DBD killers.
Why not?
-
Survivors have a video game only character, why not one for killer?
-
Blur that name, not sure if it's okay per the rules

I should probably get nemesis. I've been using pwyf and furtive with most killers since GF released

Reading all this inspired me too... Why not add a totem spawn around the other basement locker that doesn't do anything?

Been awhile since I've shared one of these, but this is once again just a reminder... Just because you lose in a videogame, doesn't mean you should be an ass in the endgame chat. Take the L with abit of decency and just say GG. This lot were relentless with flashlight blinds, pallet stuns and head on stuns on Lerys...which against another killer and build might've been problematic for me. I'm sure you can figure out what went wrong for them.

Isn't that montos build?

It's not a spike. Plenty of killer mains have hoards of iri offerings and add-ons. Ebony Moris are very popular with any killer. Chainsaw boys probably have more access to Moris with the Iridescent Surprise on the bloodweb, since neither have an iri addon.
It's prettt much summer time, everyone's spending their hard earned loot, if they aren't catching a cold outside.

I'll inform you that it took me more than a month to learn how to play with her, and after 2 months of playing her I can safely say I'm not even close on mastering her. Don't compare spirits difficulty to Freddy's
That sounds more like a personal achievement than a generalization about how little skill the spirit takes. Nothing about that killer takes any skill whatsoever, she's an M1 killer extraordinaire with one of the most boring abilities. At least wraith takes skill.

Maybe it's Sam from Trick R Treat lol. But yeah, with the other wording they use,it really doesn't fit. I and most people get stuck on "Legendary" killer. That makes it sound like Michael Myers,Jason,LeatherFace,Freddy, etc.
They also said something about the killer starting "a new genre of horror" that doesn't sound like Candyman either. You could stretch it to maybe say it was black (African American) horror, but I dunno. That wasn't as clear in the original. Pinhead started body horror,Saw was like a new genre, Halloween was considered the first slasher(which is heavily debated). The Thing and Alien (Xenomorph) started Sci Fi horror. Just some examples.
You just can't make Candyman fit with EVERY little subtle hint or word they've spoken. He's not Legendary in any sense. If you put every horror icon together,he wouldn't even be included 99% of the time. My guess is some of the clues are flat out BS or misdirection. If not it makes more sense to be the Xenomorph or Pinhead. Pinhead is about as legendary as Candyman (if not more so) and both Pinhead and Alien started new genres of horror.
Unless we are talking Creepypasta or webseries (of which none are even close to well know besides Slenderman or Jeff the Killer) I got nothing. Even for TV there's not much. Chucky would be a slap in the face. I want it to be Candyman,I just don't know.
Maybe it does. Candyman was an earlier horror icon. I think there's a generational memory gap, but he could be that classic horror icon that shaped the genre

Most of the old evidence that we've had for a while points to Candyman.
Alien has been creeping up as a potential competitor, but there just isn't enough there.
It would be a poor business move by BHVR to tease Candyman with that tweet, Tony's tweets and the bee-like sound files just for it to not be him. While many would probably appreciate that, from a business perspective, it's not a smart move.
Don't grouch. Where's your successful video game company at with it's IP placement?
Any bait is good bait, because it's bait. Plenty of bad publicity has spelled out good business, historically. It makes no sense to say it's a bad business move, given that it will generate any business.

Although it's a rare opinion, please hear me out on this. People believe that spirit is unbalanced and I have some arguments for what they're offering. Let's see my side of perspective as a hybrid player:
1. 50/50 mindgames. Basically when she sits still and you don't know if she's phasing or not. I've managed to counter that by simply one perk: spine chill. You know when she'll start phasing because your spine chill will go off, meaning she doesn't know your exact position but knows that you are in a certain radius. Game knowledge helps with this too, alongside the spirit's gameplay. If I know that when she stands still she's phasing then I know that she doesn't mindgame and vise versa.
2. Unable to see where she's coming from because she's invisible. That's the point. Her whole purpose as a character is being invisible, this shouldn't be changed at all!
3. If you have good headphones and stridor you basically win. That's entirely incorrect. When I play spirit I can't use stridor. It confuses the ######### out of me when someone doesn't have iron will. Besides, learning the exact distance is really tough.
4. Spirit can't be looped like any other killer which breaks the game. You mean like nurse? Nurse also can't be looped normally and the only way to counter her are jukes and breaking line of sight, just like how spirit is countered.
So what do you guys think about the spirit? Let me know down below.
I don't think anyone ever said she wasn't balanced, I was sure that most people and myself have exclaimed at how little skill it takes to play Spirit.
There are no 50/50 mindgames with spirit, you either drop the pallet on one side or quietly vault to the other. Otherwise, you already ran away because directly mindgaming a spirit is how you end up on the hook.
Both urban evasion and fixated work well against, but dance with me could be an alternative if you aren't actively putting distance between yourself and Spirit. That's really all there is to it for both sides.
Spirits require no brain power whatsoever to be effective. Basically, the best M1 killer in the game, given that her killer power does not conflict or delay her ability to M1 immediately. Survivors have a really simple approach to counter her, simply by actively evading at any sign of her approach.
Unlike Billy or Nurse who suddenly show up and starts up a chase with their power, Spirit gives off her audio cue ahead of time and attempts to quickly end any chase with her power, more like huntress but without a skill shot (or really any skill).

One thing I would like to see is let survivors and killers buy their own teachables without having to use the bloodweb to do so. For example, my Clown is level... (I'm not even sure, way past 50) and I still haven't maxed out even his own perks. I'd like to at least have the option to buy his own perks on him so I can start trying for adept.
I like this idea though

GF 2nd best camper? I don't think so. Getting revealed means you lose your 1 shot capability and then will get hit with BT. Anyone with a 1 shot that can't be stopped is way better. Billy, Myers, Oni are all better at denying an unhook. Hag and Trapper are also better if they are trapping the hook, especially Hag.
You haven't furtively played with your food much, have you? Those two perks give GF an amazing camper sweep. Coupled with chewed pen or any of the iri/purple add-ons, GF can do anything, especially camp, and there's still room for any 2 other perks.
Even a SWF can struggle if you know how to use cover near the hook correctly. SWF relies heavily on what other players in their group communate, which is typically visual-based information. With reduced TR during chases and breaking line of sight, GF can easily camp all but the saltiest SWF.

Like i said, my first game as a killer had a red rank player, a purple, and a green player. Before that I had only played a few games with friends in the "kill your friends" mode. It's clearly broken. If there's a hidden ranking then it's WAYYY off because these players have hundreds/thousands of hours and are way better than me.
That sounds like a sampler platter. That could have been intentional, given your game has no killer history. Perhaps survivor and killer ranks affect one another in the background?
I think a rainbow is a reasonable first ever match in any game that matches players together.
Given how little killer you play, I think you have less information on how to intuit the rankings, but I'm not a dev, either. Maybe this game is very unfair to newer players, but it has not slowed new arrivals from ascending the ranks. I think this game presents inherent challenges that aren't necessarily favorable to newer players who don't recognize some of the nuances right away.

The makers need to have a better punishment for killers that camp because ever sense they put the time ban on for disconnecting there are more campers. Going on to any platform to play the game and on every single one there was a campers. Sooner this game will be dead because no one will won’t to play a game that only benefits the killers because that is how the makers are ruining the game and when they want to make a new game it won’t work because no one will trust which side they will pick and then ######### the other side over.

It'd be cool to see other actions max out or deplete the bar.
For example, if you run into ghost face, but you're facing the opposite direction, it could max out the stalk bar for that survivor if GF is in stalk mode.
Another example is generator explosions depleting his bar if in proximity?
GF is currently the 2nd best camper in the game, with Basement King Bubba leading on.

Honestly it's the main thing that makes me want to quit this game. At the start, it was a lot of fun. Running and hiding from killers, learning everything there is, etc. - the game is a blast
Then I played killer. MY FIRST GAME AS A KILLER HAD A RED RANK PLAYER IN IT. Since then it's waffled from either horrible MM like that game, or proper MM where I play around my skill level. So I chalked it up to some bugs and moved on.
Last night I played 7 games as killer. I was green rank, I think 14 but I kept deranking. Every single game I was either the lowest rank, or there was 1 person at my rank with the rest of them in red ranks. I find it hard to believe that when there is 43,000 people online that it can't find a good match for me. I do not have the thousands of hours to memorize these maps. I do not have the DLCs to get the best perks. I do not have the bloodpoints to get the perks I need to compete even if i did have the DLC. If this was another game based solely on skill like a shooter, I might have a chance against better players since we all start on an even level. But this is more like a trading card game, where you need to grind or buy your way to the best deck (collection of perks). Imagine if hearthstone players had new players playing against Legend rank players. Do you think anyone would stick around? Why would they put themselves through hours and hours of frustrating gameplay until they're finally at an even playing field with their opponents? Why would they bother with post-game lobbies that trash talk them and call them a f** for playing with NOED like me? Should I use Unrelenting instead??? I don't have BBQ and Chili and Ruin and all the other good perks, what do you expect?
I get that veteran players want to show new players the game and play with them, but they should be going against people of their own skill level. Apparently from what I've heard that's how it's supposed to work.. but just doesn't? This should be a top priority if player retention is a goal at all.
Honestly, the ranking system probably works as intended. Given how long queueing used to take, the devs have done amazing work to mitigate all the negative elements involved in finding players that can play.
You might see only a number for your ranking system, but you don't know what kind of background information is being processed, if at all. What I mean is that your player id may have a variety of "rankings" or other flags, such as a win/loss streak, region you're playing from, what your performance is like overall, and especially how long your queue time is taking during a given wait.
I think we will all be surprised when BHVR unveils their new MMR system. I don't think it's going to be another conventional system like what we've already seen before, but I suspect it is enhanced with rankings and processes that are taking place already.
You give the rank number and it's color way too much credit. If you assume your entire performance and match making revolves solely around a solitary number, especially in a game developed by a company that calls itself "Behaviour", then you might be in for a surprise this year.
-
Body blocking is a big toxic issue between survivors. It makes senses to have body blocking between a killer and a survivor, but survivors can do some pretty malicious ######### to one another. You think a timer for clipping through would be feasible? Or maybe survivors could push shove each other when too close?

Jason is not coming to DBD.
1. They already have him(AKA trapper)
2. They can't use any outfits, maps, or characters from the franchise because of the lawsuit.
3. He would be weak, and his powers would be stupid. There not gonna let you see where survs are at all times, your not gonna be able to teleport across the map, and any stealth he has will be HARD countered by OoO and spine chills.
4. If ANYTHING was allowed to be done, don't you think they would focus more on another film than DBD or updating/fixing his OWN game? It's so bad his toy line got pulled from necca. Trick or treat studios can't even sell his masks.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/920/Polish_20200518_155800488.png
1. How many bear traps did Jason use? One, once?
2. It's called "neon lights Jason", because it never existed in any story line. Give him a bronze age helmet and copper sword, any time piece not related to his original story.
3. Jason is not known for his bear traps. He's known for killing people and teenagers, as well smashing through walls, floors and windows. Jason should be able to destroy window vaults in DBD.
4. Not necessarily, because of logistics. There's already Jason 3D models to base a game concept around, and even having to come up with one from scratch might not take as long as scripting, casting, filming, and producing an entire movie. Both are great endeavors, but I think a small relatively inexpensive team of visual artists would have beat an entire production company for costs and time, given the contrast between their type of products.
Jason has a standing invitation from BHVR. He's always going to be welcome here. That's the real reason he may eventually show up.

As both killer and survivor i find it absolute bullshit. Happens in a good chunk of my games. When someone does it, either because they don't like the killer or they don't like that they were first downed. It completely ruins the game, basically guarantees the killer will win, and also makes the killer lucky to black pip. It's bad for everyone in the game and there is no excuse to not treat it the same as a D/C
No.

I'm so salty over the DS salt. DS is only impactful if you're emotionally invested in hooking that one guy really bad, aka tunneling.
If you're going to change or update DS, simply remove the timer, and add a condition that deactivates DS after anyone else is hooked.
"I'm balanced"

@Exerlin said:
Completely change DS. Again. An instant wiggle out is not going to be balanced in any way.
Instead, have it so that once you reach 80% wiggle progress, you can hit a skillcheck and finish progressing the wiggle bar. This would have the perk synergize with stuff like Flip Flop, Boil Over, Breakout (on others), and sabotaging in general. This would promote the use of these other perks and strategies, change the perk from the oppressive mess it's been since release, and provide that "I wiggle out faster" perk that has been suggested multiple times in the past.
They already tried this a long time ago and it was inconsistent and it was stupid.

Ok Mr csgo e-sport competetive pro player. Seriously, it's a casual game.
I think that's part of what I'm thinking. The original Dark Souls was released forced with 720p, even tho 1080p was readily available and commonplace by 2012. I came to understand the DS devs released it that way because it had a specific art direction, which incorporated the look that only inferior 720p can display. That game captured an art direction that was contrast to most other games at the time, which focused heavily on 1080p fidelity.
Casually, I bring that up to elborate on what I think I meant to say. If Dead by Daylights intended art direction includes making the environment less clear and less crisp (i.e. fog), then whatever effect those filters or video options are in place should be standard across all platforms. Whether it's for pros or casuls, it won't matter, the oil painting visual appeal, its part of the product that is Dead by Daylight.
In the case of a horror themed hide and seek video game, visual clarity has likely been considered tremendously, from art concepts to engineering and mechanics, etc.
This game already looks really amazing. If you invested in fancy hardware you probably have much fancier software to look at then a $20 casual video game that already offers great video definition. Idk anything about video hardware, but I know that people would really like to tool around with draw distances and fog in this game. Frankly, I don't see that much improvement in fidelity in the pictures, and I can see more background being drawn in the second picture with cannibal.
Maybe these vain minimum standards in video hardware aren't high enough, but for someone who has less or more hardware than anyone else, they shouldn't be given any game advantages, which is what I'm starting to suspect is the real advantage generated by having more control over video options in this particular game.

Didn't occur to you that maybe you're performing at a level that fends red rank survivors?
Like sure, red ranks are available for both killer and survivors...but I see this more and more and I'm starting to think that green rank killers are matched against red rank survivors intentionally.
Because red rank survivors are flaming green rank garbage.

ON looks way better
I can see why they force it on. This game isn't supposed to look that clear. It's all about the fog, and larger displays and expensive hardware would have a significant advantage during play.
I'm against disabling AA after seeing the immense clarity and perception change.

I have no idea. Legit a m1 killer with no power would be better than old Freddy. You needed to walk up close to the survivors, and then put them to sleep, wait like 5 seconds for them to fall asleep, and only after that you could smack them. Then they just wake themselves up with a skillcheck.
This is pretty situational with old Freddy tho. Not terribly difficult for a swf to pull off, but not easy to manage over time, because survivors do eventually make mistakes and they spend no time on the objective.

This perk is a complete design failure. Its unhealthy for all players. Killer players need to gitgud. Thats how it is. Its pathetic how most killers play this game. Theyre on the same Level like those baby survs in redranks that cant do anything helpful.
Naw it's the killer design that failed. The perk is very balanced given the conditions at play. What would be the point in ranking systems if this perk didn't exist?
Nobody would play killers that don't have instant downs, so id say it's pretty helpful to have the capacity to instadown during EGC for those killers, because those killers don't have the design elements necessary that eliminate a need for noed in the first place.
Noed is balanced. Killers are not. There needs to be a balance sweep through every ability and perk, for both killer and survivor.

DS is not for anti tunneling. It's not a second chance perk.
It's a yellow flag for unsafe unhooks. Don't want to be DS'd? Dont tunnel. Did you down the first survivor after hooking a second one already? Bring a green mori or use your kitchen timer. I literally tunnel Laurie until she's mori-able. Dont ever give DS a chance.
The issue with DS is always end user experiences. The perk is totally fine and very easy to play around. If you have a singular playstyle, that's fine, but don't expect your hard counters to adapt around you. You have to adapt around it, and no matter how DS "gets fixed", you are still going to face an adversarial element with that specific perk.

Tome challenges are simple, but not easy. Survivors aren't your friends. Killer playstyle is literally work compared to the survivors playstyle.
Eventually, you will get your tome challenges. The tomes/rift are an advanced grind, that's how they're completed if you can't whiff through some of them.

I think stealth has always been meta, especially for solo players.
SWF is notoriously built with at least 1 survivor made for distraction.
Did you play alot of SWF?

If 360s are an issue, try to use the standard swipe instead of a lunge. Most people tend to 360 around the front of the killer. This is how lunges fail with an impression that "autoaim takes over". The standard swipe is much shorter than the lunge but it is significantly wider, which is very effective against most 360s, due to most survivors trying to get into your lunge's blindside.
The smarter survivors won't get near your blind side, and will 360 further away from you, which may bait you back to lunging.

Yes, you are being toxic.

Exhaust hatchets are not bugged, they're simply not very good to work with. Out of 7 exhaust perks, 2 of them are not negatively affected by it, 1 of them situationally would already be safe in a locker, leaving 4 perks that exhaust counters on hit somewhat effectively: Sprint Burst, Lithe, Balanced Landing, and Dead Hard, which is the most susceptible, as the first 3 can be activated before the hatchet hits.
It's really great if you struggle against Dead Hard, but otherwise not as effective as other add-ons.
Hinder is immensely more useful, and counters all the exhaust perks on hit, except Dead Hard. Hinder is also appreciated by how slow Huntress is. If you aren't bringing movement perks, you should bring hinder.

I assume because people tend to heal on the hook, so MYC tend to get the Pig easy downs since she can just crouch walk to the hook.
Yeah by the time pig crouches to the hook, the survivors are healed and gone. MYC is terrible on Pig.

Even with the poor quality of the video, I could see her. But sure, its always the games fault. Or the survivors.
Naw her presence changes dramatically, literally for a second in the first part when she gets in the shadow of the forklift, probably a lighting bug.
Same thing happens near the pallet until she drops it. You can see her outline, but she is clearly Blendette in terms of shading and color, overall saturation. This is worse than looking for brown Jake on the cowboy map.
As soon as clod drops the pallet, her entire palate changes. That kind of a lighting change is way too extreme, given that the area upstairs has better lighting than downstairs.
