For 0-1 is it usually due to Survivors hook-bombing? For 2-3, is it usually because of Survivors not coming to the Hook at all?
yes and yes. also, something during the trial would cause many, many DCs. unsure if nemesis, camping, or my smelly horse manure

The next game, I was in a game with a 4 man swf

- Infectious fright
I won the game as Nurse cause I slugged, I had all 4 survivors insulting me and telling me I should "Kill myself".
So I can't play fair cause I lose to gens, If I play unfair, people tell me I should "Kill myself".
Fairness is what mechanics are available to the killer, not necessarily how you think a fair game should be. "Unfair" would be how you can down all four survivors within 80 seconds, if "fair" was a real concept that actually had a mechanical impact on the game.
"Each time I play fair" probably isn't being fair to yourself, and that's probably why you "lose" trials
The game is very balanced for an assymetrical game. Slight nuances tend to overload the senses on either side, so I'd say you should camp a little bit more if you want to "win"

I signed in to complain about the update UI but I decided to up vote this instead. Occasionally, BHVR sends out survey invites. BHVR could have considered sending a survey or something for this very purpose.
-
There's so much truth found in this post. Many long time players have brought up these issues found within context of op.
Ultimately, BHVR has put more time and effort into their subpar community management than play testing. This monster is showing it's gums and teeth through this post.
BHVR is a business and it will always try to save money, but the sorely missing dedicated playtesting roles are still squashed under the rug, along with some with other swept up shtuff. These kinds of issues are going to keep happening without a paid dedicated PLAYTESTER employee, unfortunately.
-
But there is a tutorial actually...
-
Honestly it works better when you consider that not everyone is not familiar with every killer.
Rank 1 Billy might be fun and all, but that same player could struggle immensely with an unfamiliar killer, and being placed in cutthroat ranks in an unlocked MMR has a far greater negative effect than the new locked MMR .
It is an improvement, but not totally up to snuff.
-
$20 game shouldn't cater to high end game machines. The auras are not as terrible as everyone says, unless you're colorblind. Nonetheless, they are considerably ... No ... They are tremendously more difficult to see on low and mid gfx settings.
Also, please fix the language arts. Numbers or adjectives, but not both, BHVR. It is a sorely misplaced inconsistency, and the devs have no reason or excuse for delineating the perk modifier descriptions.
-
It was always intended to be a backup perk, despite how useful it is on other killers.
If you failed to chainsaw during chase, or otherwise wouldn't be able to at a window vault, Bubba's M1 is intended to make up for the loss of an instadowns. It's not very reliable on either of the chainsaws, because it's not the primary means of causing harm.
Again, super great on every killer, but never intended to be a primary power.

So everyone says if theres a loop you can't beat as a certain killer (IE huntress at a long wall) you should just abandon chase and let the survivor go but I don't understand how that helps the killer at all? Like survivors can just run back to the loop whenever they want so how does abandoning chase help?
Move away from that loop. It's not about letting the survivor go, it's about admitting defeat to the loop.

I know it's a little early to speculate for Chapter 17, but after recent news that Chapter 17 is apparently licensed, I wanted to dive in to all the possibilities of what Chapter 17 video game licenses we could have.
The Last of us
Recently a new game of The Last of Us 2 was released, and it was generally well received. After watching a video from EarthtoLydia, it got me thinking (although I'm taking her speculation with a grain of salt so I advise you do the same without getting excited). Recently a dbd survey was published and one of the questions asked was 'From what medium (other than TV and movies) would you like to see new licensed chapters introduced?' and the first option was 'Video Games'. This suggests that the developers have a whole lot of ideas for game licenses (they've also stated before that they've considered iconic horror games, right before Silent Hill was released).
A clicker killer would be terrifying to go against:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/WP75QUITS6HV/image.png
The reason it could possibly be The Last of Us is if you go back to July 2019, Stranger Things season 3 was officially released and a couple of months later we received a Stranger Things chapter. This coincides well to the Last of Us 2 and a chapter for it. Of course it could be something else and I'm just looking into things too much however I wouldn't mind a Last of Us chapter.
UNTIL DAWN
I am aware that we have a Wendigo type killer already (Hag), however that doesn't mean there isn't room for another Wendigo. Some may argue that the Wendigo in Until Dawn is too fast and therefore would be OP, however I'm sure BHVR can work their way around a (somewhat) balanced power for it.
The Wendigo in Until Dawn:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/QZ7YN87JTY8M/image.png
I personally would LOVE an Until Dawn chapter, playing as Sam Giddings being chased by Pyramid Head on a Stranger Things map. Also the map would fit well with Mount Ormond as an old snowy cabin among the mountains.
OUTLAST
Admittedly I've never played Outlast, I have however watched No0b3 play it and obviously I've watched Lydia's speculation on it.
A cool killer idea for an Outlast chapter would most likely be:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/O7XSJNITHQD2/image.png
Richard Trager himself. I think he would be a great addition to Dead by Daylight. The only problem with an Outlast chapter however is we never see the survivor because we're in a first person perspective. So it would be hard choosing which survivor would be sucked into the entity's realm.
Five nights at freddy's
Yes, I'm aware of the recent hype that has suddenly spawned out of nowhere (damn you Robbie the Rabbit!). So if we're talking about possible video game licenses, I can't leave this one out.
Where do I start, as soon as Silent Hill released, the hype for Springtrap rose up and several people even made Fan-made chase music for Springtrap. There is so much hype for him lately.
The most popular FNaf creator has attempted to get in contact with the creator of FNaF to ask if FNaf can make an appearance into Dead by Daylight:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/ECC7WWA8FX02/image.png
Someone on twitter reached out to Mathieu Cote about the possibility of FNaF coming into Dead by Daylight and apparently this was Cote's response:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/PYJEGZO8DJVW/image.png
Of course this doesn't mean anything and again I advise you take it with a grain of salt. I personally don't think FNaF will be chapter 17 as chapters usually take 5 months to create, sometimes longer and the hype for FNaF only summoned recently. I could be wrong though and FNaF makes an unprecedented surprise for chapter 17 but you never know what the future holds.
The most likely killer for a FNaF chapter would be:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/VHBZGNFUKMU4/image.png
Springtrap himself, and the survivor could possibly be:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/VLTSK4E61TAZ/image.png
Charlotte Emily from the books.
What do you personally think chapter 17 will feature? Try and keep the discussion/speculation civil, if someone disagrees, don't bash them for it, just politely accept it.
You lost me at FNAF. All of this is now trash.

Apply more pressure
This.
Also, im guessing the first hooked survivor and the first two completed gens happened around the same time. The third gen happened shortly after that, maybe before the second injured survivor.
By the time the second survivor was hooked, half of the fourth gen was done.
It's at this point in the game, that the survivors are way less spread out, so the killer hopefully has their 3 gen picked out, and they're applying pressure around equally.

No. LOL. Scratch marks only last 10 seconds dude and it takes way longer than that to get a gen done.
Again, if the killer is nearby, you may need to evade or use stealth. But, unless it's a stealth killer with no terror radius, there's no reason not to run. By the time you hear the terror radius, you will have been on the gen for a bit and the marks will have dissipated.
In order to use stealth, it is not advisable to run. Without planning for the gen rush before the trial, It is always far safer to walk to a generator, at any point in the game.
Additionally, the killer can see scratch marks 32m away. Although the scratch marks may last ten seconds, the killer can still be up to 16 seconds behind you, which is not a substantial amount of time to do complete a gen, nor is it enough time to heal on your own.
Therefore, it is always safer to walk to your generator and wait for the first patrol pass before touching it. This assures early avoidance, preserving your state of health, and not revealing your location to the killer.
The issue here is not contextual, because stealth movement is always superior to running, at any point in the trial including the chase. Running makes chases happen faster, but not generator progress. This issue is your emotional investment against Sprint Burst.
You believe the game is ######### if survivors are not immediately running to their objectives. Surprisingly, a survivor with Sprint Burst is guaranteed to get their objective before the killer and other survivors, but they choose not to. @SloppyKnockout made a much better point in one post than you did with all these posts @Splinterverse .
It is silly to see a walking survivor who does not know when to use Sprint Burst. There's literally a time and place for it, and there's a small minority of neophyte sprinters that are still learning.
But that's the minority, and that's the hyper focus of your posts; it's when they don't use Sprint Burst when you feel like they should. Every runner knows they're gonna get to the objective first, and every smart runner knows there is literally no reason to be there so quickly. The killer is always on his way over, so why would anyone run around and leave scratch marks all over the place?
It is foolish to run for the sake of convenience, so you can "get there faster". Running is a defense mechanism, and not ideal means of transportation.
-
Discordance is best at the start of the trial. It falls off, especially after the first or second hook.
Whispers has over capabilities, even if hooked survivors pollute the sonar. It excels right before the EGC.

So, I made the mistake of playing survivor tonight for the first time in weeks. Four matches and I was done. Three were hardcore tunnel matches that were absolute snorefests. In one, I did 3.5 gens and 2 totems with an escape and did not even score 13k. What the flying pigs is that?! Because the killer sucks and has to tunnel down two other players, the surviving players get crap bp and at best a black pip? Come on! Give these guys some BP already!
My match making is way faster in the evening as killer. I can toy around and not even try and make 25k in a match. I can get my arse handed to me and make nearly 25k in a match. I was watching people get tunneled out of the matches with less than 8k, even though I know they did a couple gens and got chased 3 times (really fast on the 2 later chases due to not being barely off the hook when downed again).
This is one of the primary reasons I left survivor three years ago. Absolute crap for BP and putting up with constant tunnel/camp. If you get tunneled/camped out, there should be a BP bonus for the hassle. If you are gen-jockying, you get crap for BP. That should not be the case. Gen jockies should get lots of BP as well.
Sorry, I just think this thing is insane. It's why the survivor role is so toxic. The best way to get BP is to bully the killer as much as possible. Gens don't give crap and totems are not much better. I've done 2 gens and 5 totems before getting faced camped out of a game (basement bubba and a lovely lag spike that stuck me in a corner) and left that match with less than 10k. Wow!
Getting tunneled and camped would be a lot less frustrating for people if they were getting more BP for it. I know it helps me as a killer knowing that I can get owned and still get good BP.
You have to learn how to not get caught. It's a challenging skill. Additionally, you have to learn how to max your survival score, which is the most difficult of the four survivor score types.

I'm so sick and tired of Sprint Burst users are all ranks just walking nonchalantly every where to save up that Sprint Burst. You are wasting all of our time. You could pick that person up off the ground, you could get to that gen faster, you could get to the hook before the killer returns, etc. Just run Lithe or something else instead.
Even people that 99 it are annoying because half the time they're trying to 99 it to save themselves instead of helping the team.
Just run or take it off already.
EDIT TO ADD: I'm saying this as a survivor player, not a killer. It hurts the team. And I should add I see this behavior at all ranks.
No. Your value of Sprint Burst is never going to change or shift my value of Sprint Burst.
Walking is a superior mode of transportation, and jogging is even better.
If Sprint Burst induces this much salt, I'd never want you on my team of survivors.
-
Even with all the counter looping measures, survivors will always use looping as a defense mechanism.
Whether or not it's meta is really up to SWF, but most solo players are going to be highly evasive anyways.
Looping will never be a bad decision, as long as limitations are considered.

I know there are many posts about "unfair" survivor / killer perks, addons, abilities around here, and I don't want this post to be one of those. I'm not whining, I wanna know what ya'll think about that, and instead of being flamed for my post being toxic / me being entitled, I'd be happy about advices for how to play against that.
I'm talking about Michael's red addon. I think it is too strong, because I think it is impossible for Michael to lose a game when he plays that perk. Nothing's stopping him. I am aware that playing stealth would be a good idea, also to spread out a little, but since gens HAVE to be done, he WILL find survivors sooner or later. Combined with his lunge attack, I think this is impossible to beat for survivors.
Michael is one of my 3 main killers, but I have never played this addon and don't plan to do so. This is NOT about survs vs killers, so please don't hijack my thread for that stupid war. I just want to know if ya'll agree or not, and if you have some good strategy to at least have a chance against that? I've faced 3 Michaels using it today and it's really frustrating to feel like we haven't the slightest chance.
Run him around pallets the entire trial. Drop the pallet safely, every time, and immediately find the next safest loop.

to all the people just saying to be grateful they listened at all, you seem to be forgetting that no one asked for these changes. Insta down billy was complained about by newer players, but no one at any rank higher than yellow ever once thought this was an issue. Positioning could counter Billy outright, but billy always had the potential to zone out survs and restart the snowball. He was one of the, if not the only, high tier killer who was balanced and enjoyed by both sides. There was no reason to change him, and until they remove this pointless overheat mechanic, I will not be satisfied. If someone punches you in the stomach you don't thank them for choosing not to punch you in the face. It didn't need to happen and it crippled the most balanced killer on the team
Not only that, it shows bhvr is regressing in creativity this year. They had a great start to 2020 with the gun and the sweep of perk updates and QoL fixes.
Now they're just doing what they did last year, shitting out tons of cosmetics and making haphazard changes based almost solely on community input.
I don't want to play a game developed by fans that don't really know how to play. I'm starting to think the devs will do whatever it takes to avoid hiring dedicated playtesters, even at the cost of their player base.
This product clearly indicates to any gamer that they simply do not have a person whose sole and singular job is to play test. Either that, or the devs are simply refuse to work on broken ######### in this game, opting for cheap and laborless fixes that create different issues.

Gen rushing is more of a negative stigma imo, where rushing the generator causes the survivors to fail in some way. Rushing the gen isn't a good thing, because rushing anything is not a good thing.
Even when popping the first gen at 16 seconds, gen rushing can easily result in the survivors demise, but if the killer is ignoring 3 gen or otherwise not planning for end game during a gen rush, you're gonna get wiped every time.
In that video, the second gen was barely started. In five minutes, the trial should be over. Remember kids, gens are slow and steady, which is smooth. Smooth is fast. Rushing is not.

I’m sure someone will explain to you why moris are good for the game
Without evoking bloodpoint economy, Moris simply ups the trial's ante. It becomes a truly high risk high reward state of a game for both sides.
The game changes both sides' focuses. The ideal survivors are no longer gen rushing blatantly and blindly. They are tapping gens and throwing pebbles and vaults around critical locations and avoiding the hook, at all costs. Your ideal survivor teammate will stop working on gens to run behind your injured backside and stop the down, at all costs. Pallets are dropped, hooks are blocked, and you refuse to allow the killer to so much as detect you.
The ideal killer is committed to the Mori. The green and red Mori is most effective as soon as possible, as it has lasting and demoralizing impact on the survivors progress. The yellow Mori is a nasty end game secret that doesn't relate well here, but the other Moris are going utilize proxy camping at the very least, to rush out a dead survivor asap
Whereas without a Mori, the game has it's dynamic state of chronological attrition between the hooks and generators, business as usual.
It's almost its own game mode.
-
Killer is a Game Master in a lot of ways. You have to make it fun for the Survivors, too.
It's alot of work, but extremely rewarding when your entire 4K throws out only GG's.
-
@Jasuo Treat it like a sonar. That's all. It can make finding the last survivor much more possible, especially if they're just camped inside a locker/shack basement.
The perk comes from a time before EGC, when games could be perpetuated by the saltiest winners.
There are still plenty of small nuances in less popular perks, not to mention near-useless perks...imo the devs ought to do a full sweep with some consolidation on all perks, but first bring base kits to balance. Perks like this used to be really amazing, even for the most casual killers, because they provided information for a valid scenario.
That scenario happens rarely anymore, hence that's perks use is rarely used, too.

Mm you really are just plain stuck in your mind aren't ya? I'm nearly 30 married and in my own place paying my own bills and I'm sure fulfill most of the random requirements you could decide you need to arbitrarily throw out there and I've always liked FNAF. Most of my similarly aged friends like it too. There's a reason it's such a successful franchise, it's because people actually like it quite a bit.
I never said it wasn't successful, and projecting your self validation leads on as ubiquitous of the fanbase, and that doesn't change what the fanbase is mostly comprised of. Plenty of adults like kitchy things, and FNAF is no exception to that endless list of mundane kid stuff that adults find profundity in. You're literally playing into franchises that are literally designed for younger audiences, as per the developers of your favorite franchises. Hasbro made it clear the MLP toy's franchise is designed for children, acknowledging it's odd brony man cult following and Scott's FNAF franchise was literally born from the ashes of Chipper, a failed but principally designed to be a kid friendly game.
No, dude. That doesn't stand up. Ultimately, the successful kitchy franchise doesn't have a place here at dbd, unlike other franchises that have demonstrated similar themes and tropes. I'd rather see Bender as a killer, and Id argue that with more passion than the most passionate brony that plays dbd.

Due to bloodpoints being capped it's very difficult to difficult to determine how well somebody did based off their points.
For example a gen jockey who pretty much did that four gens is going to already hit the cap for objective points. Now if they didn't go for any saves, heals or were not chased their average point total will be very low so even though they were basically a big reason as to why you guys escaped.
Same goes for somebody who spent almost the entire game running the killer around if they didn't get a chance to work on generators go for saves or heals their overall points will be low as they can only really max out boldness.
With the two examples I just gave these two people were vital to the teams escape however their points will not reflect this to somebody who did an average amount in the game but did bits and pieces of everything it would look like these two basically did nothing all game.
Honestly the one thing I would probably say they could do to combat this is remove the category cap so you can hit 32k match cap just with one category if you did really well in that specific action.
This would also allow for people to do more build centred around specific objectives. Runner build, gen jockey build or Healer build.
the one downside to this is that some scummy people might see it as a free pass to just borrowed time farm people off hook for maximum points.
That's not all the scum. You forgot gen jockeys, Gen rushing can ruin an otherwise perfect survivor game. You forgot immersive players that don't do gens at all. You also forgot the toxic OoO hatch maker. There's a few good reasons why there's a cap in the first place.
