I wouldnt like stealth killers go negate it completely and would prefer them to just make it so that it only works up to 32m from the killer instead of terror radious then it's the same for all as like you said it's not OP its of more a nuisance than anything.

32m is still too much for stealth killers. It renders their ability worthless. It's 4v1. A SINGLE survivor perk should not negate a killers ability completely.

    Stealth is stealth, period.

  • @PalletOrWhat said:

Imo OoO should not exist in the first place

Nah, it definitely has it's place as a perk in this game. It just shouldn't negate the zero-terror-radius of some killers.

  • I didn't call anyone stupid. There's a difference between calling someone stupid, and saying what they said is stupid. As well, entitled has a direct meaning, and it fits directly with the situation. When people stop being entitled, they'll stop being pointed out as such.

As for nerds? Well, it's a general statement. I don't know who downvoted me, so I grouped them all together. I would gladly refer to them by name if the forum software (vanilla) told me said names. It's my version of "John Doe". Don't flatter yourself by thinking I started using it for you.

I'm not here to coddle your delicate sensibilities. If you're offended, that's just tough. Not stop derailing the thread, jeez.

  • @ElusivePukka said:

As a killer main, I absolutely agree with this. Survivors killing themselves and DCing is just more time I can focus on applying specific pressure rather than generalized pressure. Further, a lot of the time I see SWF teams of two or three just leave randos to die, punishing and probably depipping teammates not in their discord just because they're selfish - there's a whole category called Altruism, but people tend to lean to the extremes rather than balancing things there.

People shouldn't be punished for having selfish teammates, and it might even lead to less toxicity in the community overall if people weren't dicked over so hard by camping/tunnelling and teammates who refuse to help. If nothing else, this should be something that helps emblems - not enough to pip by itself, but maybe a lil extra altruism to pop someone who was trying hard over the top.

They already get rewarded for staying in the match longer, whether they are hooked or not. Further rewards for "staying on the hook" are completely superfluous.

  • OoO needs to be changed for more than just Ghostface. It shouldn't be seeing Wraith while cloaked, or Pig when crouched...but it does. We know it's possible, because it doesn't pick up EW1 Myers at all.

OoO should NOT pick up a killer when they have no terror radius. I would argue that it should even stop picking up a killer when tinkerer kicks in.

  • @FrenziedRoach said:

Ah, here we go with the double standards again.

It's not okay for a killer to fail and get NOED but somehow it's okay to fail and get hooked.

Wish I could say I'm surprised - but I'm not.

Not only can noed be completely prevented from ever happening, but even with Noed, the killer still has to chase, catch, and hook a survivor. Your logic is not only false, but it doesn't exist. Fundamentally, killer objectives and survivor objectives work differently. Your objective is to ESCAPE. Killers objective is ultimately to kill your before you escape. He hasn't failed until you walk out the door.

  • @TheBean said:

hmmm.. just pointing out something incase you see that in the future. Just leave.

You said it went on for 3.5 hours... and you didn't want to leave cause of a couple pips, and 100K.. you lost way more than that by sitting in there for 3.5 hours.

The game isn't worth it, once you see that happening cut your loses and move on.

I think it's more the principle of things.

  • @Th3Nightmare said:

Killer are more harder for playing.

Clearly, playing only has its difficulty, but having defenses on the map, hiding you have no complications. Instead, the killers must endure the rush of gens, defend the gens, find people who hide, make chases and reach them and try to catch them before you repair the 5 gens. Do not think that I am accusing the survivor, but the survivor has everything very easy compared to the killer.

To put it into perspective - a survivor can win, which in this game is defined as a pip, even when they don't survive the trial. EVEN at red ranks. A killer on the other hand, especially at purple and red ranks, can hook every survivor multiple times, and kill all of them,...and STILL not pip. EVEN IF ALL 5 GENS ARE STILL NOT DONE. I still think sacrificing all the survivors in a trial should result in an automatic pip. By killing them all you have completely fulfilled your only objective as killer.

@Paladin_Goo You got a reason to camp if you run Insidious. Perfectly reasonable. Also tunneling when using Dying Light, completely reasonable. Is it fun? Not at all.. but at least there's a purpose behind it.

There's plenty other reasons to camp. Sometimes you just want to. Is that a particularly good reason? Not so much, but it's still a reason. I also have a personal policy where I camp people who teabag me at pallets (cause throwing down that pallet took so much skill on their part, you see), and people who attempt to abuse infinites. I tunnel them and camp them until they are dead.

  • The only reason I absolutely hate when a killer runs this perk is the simple fact that I’m the only one trying to get Gens done while the other 3 are all looking for it, can’t find it, and end up getting killed in the process.

Everything you complained about - that's kind of the point of it. To slow the game down. Just a little bit.

  • @se05239 said:

It probably would be just as bad. Camping is most of the time a mentality. Campers gonna camp.

Yes,going against moris as a solo surv is such an enjoyable experience.

This is a discussion about which is more difficult. Not which is more enjoyable. It is EASY to avoid being mori'd as a survivor. Even as a solo. Just don't get caught. Unless it's a nurse, cause the nurse is bullshit, but I digress.

  • Thing is, bro, everyone seems to be experiencing the sound differently at the moment. For me, I barely hear a heartbeat and have chase music so low it may as well not be there. I actually have to like...focus hard to hear it. It's that quiet. My headphones are top shelf Sennheisers and my volume is 100% in these situations.

  • 3/4 of them do anyway. What's your point?

I'd rather be camped than slugged, and all those perks are doing is screaming "SLUG ME" to the killer.

Not only will I slug, I will leave you there, to bleed out, as punishment. If you have unbreakable, I'll just down you all again.

People who run all the second chance perks are bad anyway, easy downs.

  • @Dssab said:

Solo survivor. Even if everyone escapes when I'm playing killer, I'll still get a lot of Bloodpoints for chasing, hooks, etc.

As a survivor, when you have ######### Teammates you gonna get rolled over and ending with frustration and maybe 10k Bp

This discussion isn't about how many bloodpoints you get. It's about winning. It is harder to win, period, as a killer. No question.

@paladin_goo not really, survivors still play like potatoes on low to mid ranks. Especially during the free weekend. There might be some people that go around the rank system to ruin the other peoples fun. But they are not the majority.

Tell that to the amount of people with 1000+ hours playing between rank 13 to 20.

  • @malloymk said:

Killers get rewarded for kicking gens and pallets. Why should you be rewarded for failure? Letting survivors get on the gens and pallet stun you. Sad.

Why do killer mains always want to limit survivor point gaining? From a killer point of view there are plenty of legitimate things to complain about. Survivors gaining more bp is not one of them. Grow up, losers.

Because kicking the pallet and generator is part of the killers objective, and it removes obstructions in their chase path. We can't stop you from throwing down pallets. We can't intervene. You have exhaustion perks, urban evasion, etc etc. Throwing down a pallet takes zero skill on the survivors part. Getting hooked, as a survivor, reflects complete failure of your objective. That objective being not getting caught. Which you CAN prevent. You have all the tools to do it. Loops, exhaustion perks, DS etc etc. You have everything you needed to run even a good killer for a few gens. Maybe git gud. You present zero argument. It's 4v1.

    @George_Soros said:

Suiciders should be treated with bans, or at least some flags visible to others in lobby. It's the same thing as DC-ing, but devs are even less willing to punish it.

They could try to be nice and "reward good sportmanship", but really, those who only keep struggling on hook for a BP reward and not because they actually care about their team deserve nothing more than a kick in the butt.

No, there would be a word for that. It's called "stupid". You can NOT punish self-suicide on hook with anything but point and rank loss. I suicide on hook at times. Usually it's when I get hooked, and see everyone on the map crouching behind something - all in opposite corners of the map, instead of going for a generator or coming for the save. It is absolutely NOT the same thing as DCing.

It actually blows me away how many people downvoted my previous post. Like, honestly. Do you honestly believe that you deserve points for sucking enough to get hooked? If you are on that hook, you have FAILED. Period. The goal is SURVIVAL. You got CAUGHT. There's even an emblem that penalizes you for even going down. Suck less, get more points. Holy entitled nerd alert, lol

  • @Tsulan said:

    It depends on the rank.

At low ranks, solo survivor is harder. The higher you rank up as survivor, the easier it gets.

On low ranks, killer is easier. But the higher you rank up as killer, the harder and mentally exhausting it gets.

That's all pretty debatable these days when you take a look at all the survivors and killers smurfing it up with alternate accounts at brown and yellow ranks. Or even just intentionally deranking that low.

  • Killer. It's not even subjective. Any other answer is literally incorrect.

  • A few days ago, Tru3talent got a 31.5k bloodpoint game as nurse. Killed everyone, and didn't pip. That is a problem.

Just had a P3 Nea with 3284 hours instaheal right in front of me during a loop. She went down literally 10 seconds later, with M1 attacks. So, I reiterate, it's not as pressing an issue as you would have people believe.

    @AntiJelly said:

    Instaheals suck.

Adrenaline is the survivor equivalent of NOED. They both suck.

Keys are the survivor equivalent of a mori. They both suck.

All five of these things are broken and unfun.

Instaheals should take 10 seconds to activate, and give a visual queue to the killer.

Adrenaline should do the same thing.

Once all five gens are done, NOED should be notified to all survivors, if it activates. Not the first time someone gets hit.

Keys should ONLY be usable once you are the LAST survivor.

Moris should only be usable once exit gates are powered, and if a survivor is on their last hook.

Instaheals are easily dealt with unless you're a rank 20 killer, in which case the game should NOT be balanced around you. It's called a learning curve.

Adrenaline has been in the game since day one. Most people use it. Bait it out. Problem solved. NOED is completely counterable. Destroy totems. There's literally only 5.

Keys are fine. They are a rare item and the amount of times a key is actually used is about as much as an instaheal. Mori's require a survivor to be caught, hooked, and caught again. Don't get caught twice. Even then, you act as if there's a mori in every game. There is a mori in maybe 25% of games, and more times than not it's an ivory mori. Mori's are fun. They are a CORNERSTONE and TRADEMARK of the game.

All 5 of those things are things that MAKE the game fun, and none of which are broken. If they were nerfed, this would literally be "chase and thats it".

Instaheals should NOT take 10 seconds to activate. They are called INSTAheals. They are UNCOMMON.

Adrenaline is a CLUTCH perk, just like Rancor, Bloodward or Noed.

Noed should NOT be notified to all survivors once all 5 gens are done. Survivors should be assuming the killer has noed and attempt to counter it before it pops. It's NOT HARD. This should also apply to Huntress' Lullaby. It already applies to Devour Hope.

Keys are fine the way they are. Even when diehard, veteran killer mains lose to key plays, they don't go whining that they need to be nerfed. Accept that you can't win them all and get better.

Your idea for mori's is just dumb. That's all I'll say.

Thank heavens you don't work on this dev team. The game would be a snoozefest. All of your points SCREAM "I need to be spoonfed and have my hand held in video games". Go play Mario if you want your hand held.

@Paladin_Goo they exist. Rare things are still real, so it's not just a hypothetical.

And again even if it was, Hypothetical arguments are valid so long as they are used properly. I have formal training in logic (for a computer science major) so I know what I'm talking about. There are mathematical proofs behind their use and I even linked you a detailed explanation.

And yes @AetherBytes, the other person not having a good track record is no excuse not to reply (and using it to try to refute their arguments is ad-hominem fallacy)! Plus this fun for me too <3

Rare things are still real, yes - but you're using them as a basis for your narrative, and because of their extreme rarity, your basis is as thin as a sheet of paper. That's like blaming an entire room of people for the actions of one. It's ridiculous and a broken argument. A total logical fallacy. Just stop. You are wrong, your argument is paper thin. You just need to get better at the game, learn to deal with it, and stop trying to turn the game into a boring snoozefest. Thank GOD you're not a developer. You can NOT overbalance a game to boredom. It would kill it. A few rare OP things in a game is FINE.

"I have formal training in logic". Yes, good thing you told us that. Saying that over the internet to conveniently attempt to strengthendefinitely boosts your credibility /sarcasm

All it really boosts is your ego.

Even if you did - that doesn't magically make you knowledgeable on video game design, and why people play them. If YOU designed DBD, we'd all be playing Hide or Die right now.

Is this the part where I conveniently tell you I have formal training in game design? Nah, too cliche. I don't. Everyone does that here in Montreal. I'm just a graphic designer.

Which hypothetical? Instant heals are real, teams that use 4 of them are real too (although they are rare), Killers using Ebony Mori's are real and so are both the Killer's who use them and the balance problems connected to them.

Either way though. Hypothetical arguments are valid as anyone who has taken a course in logic can tell you.

    Source: https://www3.canyons.edu/faculty/jonesa/Hypothetical%20Arguments.htm

The argument of "4 instaheals in a match" is a hypothetical argument. Even worse cause the rarity of it is ridiculous.

And yes, This example is from personal exprience.

That tends to be what you say when you don't actually have a counter argument. Pipe down, sonny.

I personally find it more boring to against 4 men swf with 4 insta heals who all last second switched while I'm a basic, unprepared wraith without mori and string addons. Or me beeing a solo survivor without any items and strong addons against an omegablink Nurse or prayer Beads spirit with ebony mori.

Both are extreme and since no side knows what powerful stuff they are bringing noone can prepare. So one side will completely demolishing the other side. And THATS boring and unfun.

So your argument is to take two extremely rare things, a tryhard SWF, which is about 5-10% of all SWF's, and and even more rare thing, 4 instaheals in a game (literally, 1 out of every 50 games if that), and present that as a point? Complete fallacy.

That's like saying all killers run mori's, when in reality, mori's appear the most between ranks 15 and 20, because new killers are easily amused by these things.

  • @BBQnDemogorgon said:

@jeyers Because solo players don't exist?

Fact is, the vast majority of the DBD survivor community is SWF. Most of them are normal skilled people just playing and having fun with their friends. Then you have the maybe...5-10% who are super sweaty depip squads of doom.

If you tell people they can't play with their friends, they won't simply go solo. They will go play a game where they CAN play with their friends.

  • @KrazyAce13 said:

Right but with even this forum people look for “friends” to swf with and the ps4 communities are ridiculous where low ranks and high ranks alike are intentionally searching for it to unbalance the game. Also lets get a proxy chat perk for killers to ease the pain of swf...

Again, you can't punish people for playing with friends; and given the state of solo games with all the DC's, you have to take care of THAT problem before you tackle people playing with their friends to avoid it.

  • Because you can't punish people for playing with their friends. Period.

The issue isn't with them playing with their low rank friends, the issue is with BHVR's matchmaking.

I'm not here to appease the delicate sensibilities of new players who complain about things that aren't an issue instead of adapting. To hell with that spoon-feeding crap.

Back then, with 3 killers and less perks, it would likely take about the same amount of time to P3 all of them, fully perked, as it would to do that to 10 killers now. The REAL issue is the bloodpoints cap. There's an artificial ceiling that stops you from being able to get ######### done faster.

No need to get that offensive, he just stated he meets many high rank survivors as a lower rank killer. Go play Freddy.

Saying "you need to get better" isn't offensive. If you're trying to play victim, you're doing it wrong.

I never said I was was a god tier killer. What I will say that SWF isn't this god tier issue that people make it out to be. 90% of SWF's are just normal people having fun with their friends. They aren't super organized, they aren't giving specific coordinates, they aren't this task-force level team people say they are.

Even still, while the matchmaking part does need adjustment, at the same time, if there's 3 rank 20's and a rank 2, you have 3 weak links. Kill them, then you have all the time in the world to get the other guy. More than that, what's stopping people from making smurf accounts and playing legitimately at rank 20? Even more than that, HOURS DON'T MATTER. Do you know how many times I ######### on a 3000+ hour survivor in a matter of seconds? It has a learning curve, sure, but you CAN get better.

  • @NuclearBurrito said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/544645#Comment_544645

Clearly you doesn't get how this sort of thing works.

In a discussion of the balance of a mechanic, it doesn't matter how likely it is to exist in the first place, just it's impact when it does.

If a perk said that 1 in every 1000 games you instantly escape and the other 999 times you would just be down a perk then that perk would be completely busted and OP. Even though it won't actually make you win as many games as other perks, that doesn't matter because when it does help it completely overshadows the entire rest of the game.

The issue here is swing. If everyone always had an instant heal then we could just design around Survivors having a free extra hit at some point in the game. And if they never have an instant heal then we can balance around them never getting a free extra hit.

A rare overpowered mechanic is WORSE than a common one, because inconsistent mechanics are hard to balance around. That's why mori's are problematic, not because they are unfair but because they (effectively) randomly mean that some games the Killer just has 33% less objective to do than others. That's like if Survivors randomly would have to do only 4 or 3 gens instead of 5 one game in order to open the exit gates, that would be completely BS.

Clearly you're relatively new to the game if you're complaining about insta's and mori's.

"If every player had an instaheal" - that's a false argument based on something that might happen say...3 or 4% of the time. It's EXTREMELY uncommon.

Thankfully, the devs likely won't listen to people like you. If they did, the game would be balls boring. You and the other baby survivors/killers need to adapt. I'm currently rank 1 killer, and insta's aren't even CLOSE to a huge problem that requires a discussion of balance. One out of every 30 games (and that's generous), I'll see an insta. You know what happens? It's used at the wrong time and I down that person again in 10 seconds flat.

Using hypothetical situations that will only happen at the most minute of times and are extremely rare, that doesn't help your argument. Again, get better.

    Watch this:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xe6Enj-FoU

Devs, I'm going to implore you - ignore these threads. These people don't know what they are talking about. Listen to your veteran players on both the survivor and killer side. VETERAN players with a brain will all tell you, yes, these things are OP. NO, they aren't an issue. We can talk about this again when it's an "every game" situation. Until then, just stop.

  • Survivors always griping about Killers being sweaty but the low green ranks are running rampant with Cheat With Friends squads looking to bully low rank Killers by pairing with one low rank buddy.

SWF isn't cheating. Stop acting like every SWF is a god tier super organized squad. Those particular squads you speak of, I ######### on them, every time I play them. The only thing ruining your games is your inability to accept that you need to get better.

No, just no. It is not extremely hard to reveal him. You're just extremely bad.

  • Jesus christ, all you baby survivors and killers need to leave the insta and mori alone. Games that a perfectly balanced are boring as #########, and you're going to make the game boring as ######### just to cope with you being bad at the game. It's OKAY to have rare, overpowered things in the game. Stop acting like it occurs EVERY GAME, because it doesn't. 99% of the time when someone instaheals, they go down again in 5 seconds, because it was used at the wrong time.

The mori is fine. It doesn't need to change. As are both iterations of the instaheal. Stop trying to nerf things you're too bad to adapt to. The baby players crying about these things are killers who don't know how to mind game and bodyblock, and survivors who can't last more than 10 seconds in a chase.

Please, go play something easier to play instead of coming here and trying to make this game boring.

Pallet looping is ######### and shouldnt be a thing, bloodlust rewards killers for doing a bad job catching survivors, and the emblem system promotes toxicity through camping and pallet looping. The problems with this game goes on and on, but instead you ask for the removal of a ######### insta heal?

I mean, generally speaking, survivors are coddled, and overpowered in this game. So much so that the killer isn't the power role in this game, but should be. The devs are addressing it though. Removing infinites and safe loops etc.

Killers also their fair share of broken add-ons, i dont want to be the one to make the comparisons but well...

The only addons in that list that I'd say are even remotely broken are the nurse ones. How is iri head for Huntress the "most broken in the game"? What? lol

Even more, carb tuning guide doesn't belong on that list. Mother daughter ring has a huge downside, tuft of hair..well, even at tier 3 myers is just as loopable as any other killer. It's not a big deal. Don't get hit.

Saying the insta heals need to go and survivors are overpowered is hilarious in my opinion.....I play both roles and the developers cater to all you killer mains whiney requests....survivor perks are constantly getting nerfed.....but go ahead and rant how an insta heal is going to keep you from getting another hit

So you've obviously been part of the DBD community for all of 5 minutes, because you don't know what you're talking about. Your words are those of a killer who has never made it passed rank 16, and a survivor who has relied on things like self-care, DS and MoM since they were a thing.

  • Short answer: It shouldn't. We're 3 years into the games life span. It should be balanced accordingly.

  • They're fine. Yes, they are overpowered - but saying "they need to go" - those are merely the words of either a baby killer, or a killer who doesn't know what they are doing. The amount of times an insta heal comes into play is few and far between, and even then survivors use them at the absolute worst times, and are back on the ground a few seconds later.

Perfectly balanced is boring. It's OKAY to have overpowered rare items and addons. Insta's, mori's, iri head, iri stone etc etc. Stop trying to suck the fun out of the game.

  • I wouldn't say another "legacy" is needed, but maybe because of the growing popularity of DBD, they introduce a new Prestige? That way all the people who have all the bloody prestige stuff will keep that, and get the new stuff as well. No idea what it would look like though.

  • Jesus, another one of these threads. You're bad at the game. Get better.
