What was the first Freddy like?

Very often, to complain about the nerf of a new killer immediately after the release, the case of Freddy is mentioned. Could someone kindly explain to me, hopefully in detail, how Freddy was originally, which more powers he had in the early days? Thanks in advance to those who want to satisfy my curiosity. :)

  • Broken and not fun to play against - just like ghostface.

    @jeyers

    you can't be serious right?

  • Trying to remember back that far.

He didn't have a slow down almost at all when he put people into the dream world, so you were much faster and could generally get the first hit going into dream world quite consistently. Sounds small, but was actually quite substantial.

You used to not automatically wake up after being healed from the downed state. This really hurt his pressure in general as well as his control and slug potential.

    They increased his TR.

Increased distance you will hear his Lullaby while awake to give a better heads up he's near.

UI element to let the survivors know who is and who isn't asleep. This information is a lot more valuable than it may seem at first.

Adrenaline wakes you up if you're asleep.

When dropping chase Freddy won't see the survivors aura for 10 seconds.

He was still pretty weak in his original state, just much better than he currently is.

  • pre nerf Freddy?

okay... lets see if i remember all of this correctly (feel free to correct me if i did a mistake)

his Terror Radius was 16m instead of 24m

he did not get a slowdown after pulling someone into the dream

he could perform actions a lot faster after pulling someone into the dream than now (they extended the animation)

he was fully visible during the dream transition phase.

    i think that was it?

its been such a long time, im sure i forgot something... again: feel free to correct me / add things if you remembered somethingn else.

  • You can literally stare at ghostface standing out in an open field with no cover and still not reveal him. That is broken.

Adren wouldn't wake you up, and being healed from the dying state wouldn't wake you up.

I'm probably forgetting stuff too :P

You can also literally stare at ghostface standing out in an open field with no cover and reveal him if you do it right. Hell you can literally stare at Ghostface through cover and reveal him on some occasions, so I guess you are right about it being broken.

I haven't ever experienced that yet, but if that's true and you were aiming your screen at him, than that is indeed broken. He does have add ons though that decrease the range at which he can be broken out.

Also, it goes the other way around as well. Ghost Face can get broken out even if he got behind cover fast enough and couldn't actually be seen by survivors anymore.

  • @jeyers @Dehitay @ad19970 Props do not block a survivor from detecting him, so gens, hooks, totems etc. If we had other killer items in the game at the same time, the pigs jigsaw boxes wouldn't block it either. Also, you need to be in a certain range to detect him.

I know that. But sometimes I was behind a wall or a rock where they shouldn't have been able to see me. It could have been delay of the sound of course, warning me too late.

My god...I would have given you at least the courtesy of respecting your opinion in other threads, until I read this.

  • He was sooo strong, I'm not even kidding when I say that, really unfun to verse as well. He also wasn't slowed down when doing a dream transition, he had a 5 second base sleep transition, I think.

He had a 16m terror radius, which made escaping him pretty much impossible.

He couldn't mindgame during the transition though, he didn't phase in and out.

He was a lot stronger than his reworked version will be he was like 3rd at the time, Huntress was bumped down to 4th (with instahatchets she was top tier, she's balanced now though)

Side note, after the rework, to negate his power completely, all you have to do is go to those clocks. And he can't snare or fake pallet you. After his rework though, he'll still delay the game, I'd say he'll be better than now, but not top tier.
