Or you could just y'know leave the hook and check gens or something like that. People who camp and tunnel only do so to cause grief nothing else, its not a tactic or a play style its just a straight up dick move

Are you going to sit there and tell me there's no strategy to hunting down the person who will be dead sooner? Are you also going to sit there and tell me that patrolling around a hook when survivors, 99% of the time, bum rush the hook for a save, isn't a good way to get another hook or two? Do survivors consider the fun of the killer when they abuse infinite and use their "skill" to run around a pallet over and over again?

    They are absolutely tactics.

  • If I have to tell you why killer and survivor are different, I can't begin to discuss this with you.

  • @BBQnDemogorgon said:

    @Paladin_Goo That's not true.

This is a different bug that was just introduced days ago that slows action speeds.

You're referring to the one from the plague patch that was fixed that made mends minutes long.

    Not comparable!?!

Its literally the same bug but opposites! Legion slows speeds wake up increases!

Again, not comparable. Currently at rank 2, and I didn't even notice it until someone told me. Even then, I'm mowing over survivors.

  • Stop using them immediately. That exploit for legion has been bannable for months.

As well - don't compare the bug with wake up to the legion exploit. It doesn't even compare. Not that wake up isn't broken, but it's not on the level of the Legion exploit.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Ruin isn’t required. I can stall the game just fine without Ruin, and still regularly pip or double pip with most killers

Show us a video of you doing that with Wraith or Freddy. We wanna see those big dick plays.

  • I've been to both survivor and killer rank 1 more times than I can actually count. That being said, I go out of my way not to get to red ranks these days. As a survivor, red ranks is just another way of saying "Nurse, Billy, Spirit, rinse, repeat". Purple ranks at least has some variety for survivor. As a killer, I'd rather not wait half of a humans average life expectancy for a lobby.

  • At the end of the day, perfectly balanced games are boring. That's not a matter of opinion, that's a fact based on player numbers of games in popular franchises etc.

A certain amount of balance is required, but fully balanced is fully boring.

@ZzayTtay You're just not good at the game. That's literally what your complaints boil down to.

  • @scorpio said:

Because players know its a mistake and they aren’t EXPLOITing it. And this Wake Up exploit is legit game breaking. Plus people got banned for the Legion exploit so it will just show their bias if survivors a aren't banned for using this one.

I won't say Wake up shouldn't be fixed, because it should. However, Wake up is far from game breaking, and it's not even CLOSE to being the same level of broken that the Legion exploit is/was. Period. I'm at rank 3 killer right now, rotating between Billy, Spirit, Wraith and Clown, with a bit of Myers and Ghostface thrown in at times, and I haven't had it effect me much. In fact, I don't even notice until end game, after they are all dead.

That being said, no, players shouldn't be threatened with bans over developer screwups. Maybe if BHVR's frequency of screw ups wasn't so damn common, but as it happens, they screw up more than Pewdiepie.

I want it on record that I think a short suspension for only those very apparently abusing it is appropriate, alongside locking/warning about only the worst bugged features.

In no way do I support a permaban of anyone.

How about a short suspension for DBD from sales on Steam? It's their screw ups. Not the community. That sounds more fair than threatening their player base with bans every time they break something, which seems like every patch these days. It's just bad business to threaten your customer base with bans for something you put in your video game.

Dunno about you but that looks like a double pallet to me.

(@Milo I hope it's okay to use your screenshot.)

If that happens, it is in EXTREMELY, EXTREMELY rare circumstances. I spend most of my time in survivor, and haven't seen that in over a year. That is a rare bug in the pallet generation, and because of it's rarity, it's not a "game breaking issue".

  • Double pallets were removed over a year ago. If you think what we have now is double pallets, good lord.

  • She's underplayed because she undersold. Think about it. Back in December, they released the most hated killer in the history of Dead by Daylight. Even most reputable killer mains with a brain hated Legion, because it was broken and had no viable counter-play.

The Legion sent DBD into one of it's darkest periods ever. Loads of people simply stopped playing; and to be honest, any killer that was going to follow the mess that was the Legion was doomed.

  • Honestly, and I'm going to be blunt - the only thing BHVR seems to do on a consistent basis (besides unnecessarily nerfing killers) is break things in their game. Sometimes they break the same thing, over and over, with every patch (some aspect of the sounds/audio).

They need to stop threatening to ban their players for using broken things, and just stop breaking things. That's really the only solution that makes sense. Grow a pair and own up to your mistakes instead of blaming other people. In addition to that - I understand why they banned people for the Legion exploit before it was "fixed". I get it, but they also retroactively banned people who did it before they said it was bannable; and THAT is wrong.

BHVR just needs to pry their heads out of their backsides, own up to their own BS, and fix their #########. Period.

There are a lot of doodoo maps but HF is arguably the worst, if you're defending this map it just means you enjoy abusing balanced landing and broken structures.

Like, maps should not affect winrates at all.

It doesn't mean that in the slightest. It's one of the most unique maps in the game. For example, it's one of only two (I think?) maps that doesn't have a killer shack.

  • If you get looped for 3 minutes and don't break chase to find someone else, that's your problem. If you HONESTLY got looped for 3 minutes, you didn't deserve the kill. While there isn't always a weak link, there's ALWAYS someone in a more vulnerable position.

    @Redd said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/539231#Comment_539231

A survivor pallet loops you for 3 minutes. They finally go down. Their friend runs up and uses a syringe on them. You have now made no progress that game whatsoever and get looped for another 3 minutes. You lose this game.

At red ranks, you rarely even get the option of chasing the "weak link" to even somewhat mitigate this.

  • @Mister_xD said:

agreed. i fcking hate that map more than anything. i play perfectly and still only walk away with a kill or two, just because the map is so extremely survivor sided.

also @Paladin_Goo Trapper might sound strong on that map on paper, but in reality you get easily destroyed. there is just too much you'd need to cover with your traps than you even have traps - 6 traps is not enough at all. thats enough to shut down the myers house efficiently, but if you try to play world wide trapper (placing your traps in different areas) the chances of them actually walking the one path you shut down are simply too slim. there are too many ways around your trap locations. and without traps you get easily looped to death. all they need to do is stay outside the house / houses you shut down and loop you on a different location. his basement play on the map is good though (which is why i said shut down the myers house (which needs at least 3 traps, that also are not guaranteed to catch someone))

Same could be said for Shelter Woods, which is extremely killer sided, though. Like any game, people will have their maps they perform better on. That's just how it works. I'm not saying Haddonfield is perfect, cause it totally needs a rework, but it's not under any circumstance unmanageable. I just 4k'd on their as Billy not 10 minutes ago.

  • @Redd said:

    Rarity =/= Balance.

Just because it's extremely rare to run into a certain situation does not make that situation okay. An extremely hyperbolic example would be a rank 20 killer running into a team of 4 Rank 1 SWF survivors. Extremely rare event. Still not at all okay if it happens.

Facing something broken once in 10 games because it's rare does not mean it's not a problem. It just makes it a more infrequent problem.

Actually, that's exactly what it means. Not everything in the game needs to be perfectly balanced. It's OKAY to have certain things that are considerably overpowered, and rare. Games that are perfectly balanced largely end up being boring to the core. That is a demonstrable fact. Survivors have keys and instaheals, which themselves are situational at best, and killers have mori's, because they are a CORE FEATURE of the game. They are fun addons, and aren't meant to be used every game (and they aren't - not even close). It's OKAY to have these things.

"MAKE DBD BORING AGAIN" hats for everyone. Coming right up.

We're three years into this games lifespan - and because of that, you should never, ever balance around new players. When you have a cult player base of seasoned players after x amount of years, you balance around that.

    @GrootDude said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/539166#Comment_539166

They aren’t even rare, my doc is finding one along with an iridescent king in every bloodweb.

And, I have hundreds of ebony moris, and hundreds of ivory ones spread out across all my killers. Actually probably close to 1000. Along with the same roughly amount of keys and insta heal addons across all my survivors. Most people who have a lot of them use them VERY sparingly. I see a 4 man SWF, I bring a mori. I get ######### on for a few games as survivor, I bring a key (which isn't often). It's like that with most killers.

It could be argued that a lot of brown and yellow rank killers and survivors spend these addons and offerings quicker, using them more often, sure - but that's not an issue, and balance around new players is not how you balance a game with a dedicated community that's been out 3 years.

  • @gantes said:

I hate that "it's fine, adapt" mentality when it's applied to EVERYTHING.

We are no longer in the 90s ffs. Devs can patch their games to make them better.

Something not being absolutely gamebreaking doesn't mean it can't be better and healthier. If you want a stale game that never changes, there are plenty of SNES titles for you. This is an everchanging game and it's great but far from perfect, and we'll always be able to improve it.

IMO neither are gamebreaking but both Moris and Instaheals could definitely be healthier for the game with some changes. I wouldn't put that at the top of the priorities list (please map design) but they're far from being a fun experience.

None of that justifies nerfing things to the point of being useless. Insta's are OP, Mori's are OP. They are rare and ultra rare addons and items. Tombstone piece is even MORE rare on the bloodweb. Again, this is just moving the goal post further and further until the game is just a lame chase-em-up and no longer fun.

Thank god they don't listen to baby players, otherwise Nurse would have been nerfed a long time ago.

  • @Seanzu said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/539181#Comment_539181

What are you even talking about? Change nurse tunneling with a mori with any killer tunneling with a mori and tell me how that is good for new players to experience?

You're clearly only thinking about the game for yourself and not others, while theres people that actually like to look at the health of a game as a whole.

The game SHOULD NOT BE BALANCED AROUND NEW PLAYERS. That is why it's in the state it's in to begin with. It's the entire reason why survivors are as overpowered as they already are, and killers are largely clowns to get run in loops. It should NEVER, EVER be balanced around new players, especially this far into it's lifespan.

Just stop, now. You have ZERO clue what you are talking about. You literally forfeited the entire debate with that statement alone.

  • Eh, Haddonfield is extremely survivor sided, but maps like Coal Tower or Shelter Woods are extremely killer sided. Haddonfield is also a beast map if you run trapper. I've also done well on it with Huntress and Billy.

Yea, change nurse out with every other killer and you have the same ball game.

But it fine because PALADIN_GOO says so!

Change Nurse out with Wraith, or Pig. Same ball game. Jesus, I literally just lost brain cells reading that.

his arguments are all just vacuous nonsense and personal attacks/presumptions but then he'll demand that you meticulously lay out a rebuttal to whatever he sharts onto the forum

even when people actually explain to him why he's wrong he just deflects and calls them rank 15s or something

    it's honestly pretty gross

You aren't allowed to have an opinion - you do nothing but personally attack and say "I'm wrong" or "I'm bad", without giving actual basis for your claims, all when you're the one who advertises that they block people who play Spirit. You have no ammunition, and no basis or place in this argument, or any other DBD related argument. Zero.

  • @Seanzu said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/539168#Comment_539168

I'd love to know what his counter is to an ebony mori & nurse tunneling.

"just hide and git gud duh bAbY pLaYeRs"

probably has 200 hours in the game when it's never been easier.

A tunneling nurse has nothing to do with an ebony mori. Nurse is bullshit and another conversation entirely. The mori has nothing to do with it. I see what you tried to do by pairing a mori with a nurse as a hypothetical - but your entire argument breaks into pieces when you take into consideration that a decent nurse will decimate you whether or not they have a mori.

1100 hours in game - and obviously a far better player than you guys complaining about insta heals and mori's, lol

    *that was my counter*

  • Why do you block spirit players? Why can you never say anything other than "I'm wrong" without a logical basis? Why are you a player with over 3000 hours in game and only hit rank 1 less than a year ago? All questions I have. Shush, you have zero ammunition.

  • Wow, such baby players these days, lol.

"Let's nerf this relatively uncommon items because I'm too terrible at killer/survivor to counter them" seems about right for the new, streamer inspired generation of baby DBD players who think they know how to balance a video game. Go back in time to 2016 - then tell me these are "huge problems".

What happens if I play survivor one day, and get you as killer, and loop you for all 5 generators, around literally the same loop? Are you going to ask for survivors run speed to be nerfed?

What if I play killer and get you as survivor? Are you going to demand that it takes 12 hits to down you when you die fast?

This isn't even about opinion. This is a bunch of baby players who want to be speedfed to victory. Period. There is nothing wrong with the mori or the instaheal. Stop trying to suck the fun out of the game. Any game that is perfectly balanced is boring as #########.

Regardless of whether you use this bug or condemn it, I think we can all agree that the Dev's silence on this issue is deafening

Oh I get that. It should definitely be fixed. No arguing that. My issue stems from the absolutely ludicrous comparison of the wake up bug to the infinite mend Legion exploit. Which is downright stupid.

  • @Awakey said:

Why should mori get nerfed and not instas? Provide logic with your answer. Spoiler: you can't.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/539071#Comment_539071

"No - mori's used to be a LOT worse. The mori was originally usable before hooking anyone at all."

    What's your point?

"They are not too strong, these days. They are uncommon and fine where they are. Same with instaheals. At red ranks, as killer, I see an insta heal maybe 1 out of 10 games. That's being generous. Even then, they're always used at the wrong time and completely go to waste."

Again, what's your point? If they are rarely used then it wont matter that they're gone, right?

Moris are usually used to end a match as quick as possible, when every killer and their dog complains that matches are too short but they have the one offering that makes games last 3 minutes. I agree they're barely used, but they're still dumb as all hell, keep moris to things that you earn, not something you offer up because you're having a bad day.

and as for heals, I don't know what you mean by the "wrong time" but I've had a fair few survivors do drive by full heals before I can pick someone up and utterly destroy the momentum of a match.

Barely used, wont be missed. 👍️

Asking "what's your point" after everything I say that clearly has a discernible point only serves to make you look unfit for this debate. Just stop. This is just more moving the goal post, like the other guy said. It's completely unnecessary. Ultra rare things are supposed to be OP to an extent. Next you'll want Billy/Bubba's carb tuning guide nerfed, or nurses blink addons, or spirits prayer beads. They are fine where they are at. Not opinion. Fact. If you're getting effected that bad by them, you are a terrible player. Period.

    @Paladin_Goo

Just because the Wake Up! bug isn't as bad as the Legion bug, it doesn't make it right to exploit.

Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

This is, it's not so much people exploiting it. Wake up, when I play solo, has been part of my personal meta build for almost a year now. Am I exploiting it cause I've been using it for so long? Same goes with a good portion of the streamers you say are advertising it. Look at their old videos - they've been using wake up for a good while.

I also don't believe the ones downvoting are abusing it - I think they are downvoting the notion, or though process behind putting this bug on the same level as the legion exploit like the thread title says. That entire thing is asinine.

  • @BunnyTheHutt said:

They are the same mate. One forced games too last years, and one forces games too last 2 minutes. Both should be bannable since both negatively affects gameplay. And not even nurse can counter it if multiple people are running it.

They are nowhere near the same. Not even on the same planet. No.

  • @Oblitiry said:

Would make the plague a god and thanatophobia meta asf and in every build.

No, it would only effect survivors injured by things like M1 attacks and traps etc. Being sick wouldn't apply to it.

Both Moris & Instas are too strong.

They were made when the game was a whole different ball game & severely need looked at.

The Ebony Mori + Iridescent Head combo is terrible.

and any survivor with an insta can stop dead the momentum you get in a game from a down.

No - mori's used to be a LOT worse. The mori was originally usable before hooking anyone at all.

They are not too strong, these days. They are uncommon and fine where they are. Same with instaheals. At red ranks, as killer, I see an insta heal maybe 1 out of 10 games. That's being generous. Even then, they're always used at the wrong time and completely go to waste.

Naw you're right, I thought about it some more and was being too soft. Seems like a fair punishment.

I still think it would result in a even higher use of self-care though. Whilemore self-cares = more time wasted healing.... self-care is just SO boring, and nothing is worse than seeing someone run off to the edge of the map to self care while you're hanging there on a hook.

Hey, that's cool. Self care takes forever. An eternity. That's an eternity someone isn't working on a generator. I'm cool with that.

How can a literal buff to action speed have counterplay?

There is nothing you can do to stop a direct buff to a character.

And yes I do agree that they are not on the same level as the Legion bug could ruin games, its the morality of just letting survivors abuse a bug with no punishment. Because where do you draw the line of, This bug is not significant enough to have us issue punishments to players abusing it and this bug is something significant enough to straight up ban players for doing it.

Also I will say the solution they should have done for both of these situations is disable the addons for Legion and disable the perk until they are/were fixed. But no, its BHVR and they would rather ban people than simply disable the thing.

    You're a killer. Kill them.

    Honestly.

  • @Warlock_2020 said:

The goalposts keep moving. Too many pallets, check. DS is OP, check. MoM is OP check. Now we are going to focus on insta-heals. Why don't we just eliminate all but sole survivor and maps as perks and items. Then we can ha e 3 survivors start in dying state.

I quit playing survivor almost a year ago and play primarily as killer. I favor Trapper 7 of 10 matches and I don't have much of a problem with instant heals. I rarely saw MoM as a huge problem. Honestly, the only complaints the killer community had right were DS and back when there were so many pallets. The rest is just whining nowadays.

This guy gets it. I agree, the goal posts keep moving. Look at DS and SELF CARE. They were nerfed...and then people turn their attention to Adrenaline. Like, come on lol. You keep asking, you keep getting what you want. How long until you want killers to have no weapons/powers, or until you want survivors to have no legs and be immobile?

  • The wake up bug is not nearly on the level of what the Legion bug was. Please, stop comparing the two. The Wake Up bug can be completely countered by being a good killer.

  • @fluffymareep said:

@AStupidMonkeyy I'm not sure about grouping insta-heals with moris. To me, moris seemed more similar to keys. Both makes the game end quicker than usual in some cases. I'm not sure how people would take moris being relegated to second stage, too, though I'm certainly up for ideas. c: Iri moris stink.

    This.

Moving the mori to second stage removes it's entire purpose. At that point you may as well hook them. It would give more points and would likely take less time than most mori animations.

Stop trying to take the fun out of the game. There is nothing wrong with ultra-rare things being overpowered, cause they aren't that common.

  • @CptPlanet said:

While it is not a terrible idea I will pose the following thoughts:

-Right now not healing is acceptable, but sometimes you just can't heal either (not running self-care, no medkit, can't find a teammate). Actively punishing a survivor for being in the injured state seems a bit unfair if they don't have a guaranteed way to solve the issue. I feel like it would result in self-care becoming a required perk.

    -What happens to No Mither?

Why is it unfair? They were caught, and hit. Typically if you screw if to the point where something bad happens, such as taking a hit, it's a deserved punishment.

No mither would, and should suffer the same effect, IMO. If you're running no mither, you want to play hard mode anyway.

Judging people without knowing them lmao. Anyway how can you say that they are fine being a high rank. It has no sense. Do you even have ever found a good swf with instaheals? Or a billy/nurse with mori that ended the game at the first 4 mins or tunneled you with it just to mori you? How is that fun? How is that "fine"?

I'll say it again - they are fine. As a survivor I see a mori maybe...one out of every 6-8 games? Sometimes I go days without seeing one. Get better, don't get caught. I don't really care if I get tunneled for a mori. It's a game, and it's not that common.

As killer, the vast majority of survivors who use them waste them by using them a second before they get hit, and only extending a chase by a few more seconds.

@Paladin_Goo 1 manthanataphobia, it only affects the injured survivor.

Since you say it that way, I mean, I'd be down for that, to be honest; but I think healing speed would need to be slowed down as well. Only then would it truly slow things down.

I don't think survivor mains would hate this as much as you think. I mean, maybe the ones who say Ghostface is OP, or that can't adapt to vaulting being back where it's supposed to be, but they are inconsequential and not to be paid attention to anyway. Good survivors will likely be okay with a change like this.

Do you play in the high ranks? Of course there are chances but really good players can 100% ruin the fun for you on both sides with those...I play both survivor and killer and believe me there are times where I just say...whats the point? As someone who really loves and puts a lot of time into this game, I just wanna see it perfect.

Rank 4 killer at the moment, and I've been at rank 1 survivor and killer more times than I can count. I've likely been to high ranks more than you have. Instaheals and mori's are fine where they are.

  • @Neska said:

The only thing that is OP is the fact that I can stare at him forever and he can just stalk me anyway because he's only showing his mask or I can't move my camera more so that he would be in the middle..

Get better. Breaking him out is easy.

  • So basically, thanataphobia?

This isn't the way. The fact that you say "survivor mains won't like it" screams bias. I play both (albeit I've been playing much more killer the last year) and I can even tell you this isn't the way to go about combating genrushing.

  • They are both fine where they are. Stop whining about things cause you experienced it happening and couldn't counter it. The Mori is fine, as is the insta heal. 90% of instaheals are wasted anyway.

  • Keep in mind - this is BHVR. The company who finds a way to break sound in every single patch they release, as well as other things. The company who has a consistent track record of releasing things with huge oversights (ala: Legion infinite mend bug) and then retroactively banning people who attempted it before it was considered bannable. This is also a company who nerfed Freddy - an already weak killer, barely a week after he was released.

They aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer. In fact, they're probably flat steel at this point. Pretty good job so far.

  • How is it killing the event? I'm at rank 4 killer right now, and I'm getting no less than 3 kills in 90% of my games. Yes it needs to be fixed, but ruining the event? No, it's not.

  • @Bravo0413 said:

With this bug +left behind +Spine chill and resilience and a purple toolbox you can do gens in 9.45 seconds...... dont believe.... search up cowsiam.... he just posted a vid about it

That's an extreme circumstance that only happens at the end of game when you're the only one left alive. The chances of that coming into play outside of a pre-planned environment are next to impossible given the hatch close mechanic triggering end game collapse and disabling generators.

  • @Perelie said:

You realize what you're suggesting is being forced to take 4 perks just to have a halfway decent counter to a base mechanic that survivors have by default?

Pallet looping is literally survivors only line of defense. That's like saying "survivors should have a counter to the killers weapon". While they do to an extent, there are all one-time use perks or items. Suggesting a perk that completely counters pallet looping, well, no. For balance purposes, countering isn't a thing, you want to close the gap, but not counter it. Spirit fury and enduring do that.

yesterday was when the big DBD streamers started showing it, many are running it all stream etc which means last night = 1000s of more survivors running it.

To be fair - some of those streamers have been using wake up forever. AngryPug for one.
