Added the option to enable or disable this mechanic in Custom Games.
You truly understand that you're adding something unbalanced when you realize that comp scene needs to get rid of it, lol
Searching chests is banned in DbD League, does that mean chests are unbalanced?
No, obviously not. Comp is just a completely different game, and so has different needs. Referring to it as a measure of balance is flawed for so many reasons.

Basically instead of stalking to power up tiers, Myers starts with both available and 'stalking' is something only done in T1 to power up his tier 3 'dash attack' which is basically like a demo shred, propels you forward and breaks pallets. Only difference is it insta-downs survivors instead of t3 exposing them.
That makes more sense, thanks.

I think I’m going to have to wait for the PTB to pass judgement. These are pretty hefty changes and it’s hard to visualise how these will play out, at least for me.
-
I’m not sure I understand it at all so I’m going to reserve my judgement for the PTB I guess.
-
I sympathise with those who feel like their matches have become harder, but I can’t say I’ve noticed any difference. The only hindrances I’ve had to playing killer in recent months have been queue times and bugs. Game balance feels much the same.
I hear people cite Shoulder The Burden and Conviction a lot as reasons why the game is harder now, but truthfully I don’t see these perks ever. I’ve seen Conviction maybe twice since the Chapter released, and I don’t remember the last time I saw Shoulder.
-
Would be nice! They’ve dabbled in animated cosmetics before, I’d like to see more in the future.
-
This happened to me last night. I entered the queue and there was no estimated queue time or play while you wait options, and I didn’t find a match after like 20 minutes.
Restarting the game fixed the issue for me.

How is Chucky the most hated? He's a shell of his former self
Mostly it’s lingering dislike from when his scamper was stronger and his playstyle was just “follow survivors under every pallet and get the hit regardless.”
I don’t think his hate is justified still but, I think that’s the cause.

Sadako was supposed to have a map that went with her chapter, but it got scrapped. I still hope one day we will get to see it by some miracle.
I’m a firm believer that the she should’ve been given Shelter Woods as her map. That’s the one that they reworked to house the Skull Merchant’s camp, but it looks out of place.
The cabin and Sadako’s well would’ve fit so much better on that map.

I'm going to ping in @MechWarrior3 and @OnryosTapeRentals as they're both Sadako players and may know more bugs than I would, but I'm also going to link a thread about a visual bug in the lobby regarding her prestige weapon. Much less gamebreaking than your bugs, YayC, but still worth adding nonetheless.
Thanks for pinging me! YayC has covered the main bugs she has right now, although while they're looking at Killer issues there is a QoL issue I'd like to raise:
- TV pushing: What I'm referring to here is when you press the key to teleport to a TV at the same time that a survivor finishes turning that TV off, the game will swap the target (little red arrow) from that TV to the next closest TV to your line of sight and continue with the teleport. Occasionally, that TV will be close by to where you wanted to teleport anyways, so it isn't a big deal. But most of the time it ends up with you teleporting miles away from where you actually wanted to go, and with a TV on cooldown that you didn't want to be on cooldown. Being selective about when and where you teleport is fundamental to playing Sadako, and being forced into a teleport to the wrong TV can break a match for her. Solution: have the game cancel the teleport instead of switching the location when this situation arises.
- And before anyone says, this isn't intentional counterplay on the Survivor's part that I'm trying to remove — this almost always happens completely by coincidence when you're just trying to move around the map. It's not something survivors can intentionally do anyways, as you have no way of knowing the exact millisecond that Sadako is going to teleport to a given TV.

Congrats!

Noticed this too! At least for me, the Prestige weapon worked normally when actually in game. It was just her lobby animations that were stuck using the default one.
-
Sounds like a great idea, but would just make queue times worse for everyone. And isn’t that helpful when you consider that the roster is so big now that most people have multiple killers they dislike.
-
This is a very respectable tier list. There's a few maps I would shift up or down a tier, but for the most part I agree with your sentiments.

It also has to include changes for certain killers. Legion and Oni are the two who come to mind.
True.
Oni needs number tweaks. He needs to be in his power a little less. Right now, as soon as he gets his power once, he'll basically be in it for the rest of the game.
Legion needs… To be honest I think Legion needs removed. He's one of the killers whose power is not suited to a 2v8 format, and I really thought they wouldn't add him for that reason (or at least wouldn't add him so soon). He's balanced on the principle that he gets the first hits for free, but needs to chase normally for the downs. But when you add a second killer into the mix, that goes out the window and it turns into Legion injuring everyone with minimal effort, and then the whole team becomes easy pickings for the second killer.
Removing Legion is an unrealistic request though, it would upset too many people to loose content which means we're kinda stuck with him. The problem is with the way his power is fundamentally designed, which number tweaks won't fix IMO. I just hope that as they add more killers, the pool of Legion players will get diluted. l also hope that they don't make the same mistake by adding Plague or Ghoul (without giving them appropriate changes for the mode).

I agree 100%. Even after doing that while I think it will help queue times, I don't feel it will be a huge improvement noticed since the popular demand is to play killer with your friend ya know?
Yeah, I agree for sure. Killer is always going to be the more popular role in 2v8 because it's where the new and interesting gameplay is at. But they definitely could improve the survivor experience by introducing more class variety. I was really hoping we'd see a new class with this version, but instead they basically removed one.
I understand there were some scenarios where Guide was very overpowered (SWFs basically) but the sensible solution would've been to tone the class down rather than outright replace it. They could've lowered the numbers or made it so the Guide powers don't stack/proc with other Guides (or both).
Guide was my favourite class before they reworked it, I don't really like the new effects sadly which is really hurting my enjoyment of 2v8.

@MechWarrior3 said:
I don't think Skins are going to get people to want to play survivor in 2v8
Yeah, the solution is to make survivor more appealing from a gameplay perspective. Offering incentives is just a bandaid fix. The easiest way to do that would be more classes, like a chest-based class, a totem-based class, classes similar to Escapist but with different exhaustion perks, etc.
-
I've had several outfit and perk presets reset, although it's seemingly random when it happens. Sometimes I load up the game and whatever changes I made last time I played aren't there. Other times it remembers them perfectly fine. Not sure what's up with that. I play on Steam.

Ive heard this too. As someone who uses dashes (hyphens?) Ive made a conscious effort not to because of this lol
Ive made a conscious effort not to because of this lol
Yes, I sometimes find myself consciously going through and removing them because I don't want people to think ChatGPT wrote it 🤣
dashes (hyphens?)
The names are often used interchangeably because of how similar they look, but technically there is a difference.
Hyphens are the shortest (-) and primarily used to join words together, indicating that multiple words are acting together in a sentence. A good example is "fancy-looking car". The hyphen tells us that both "fancy" and "looking" are describing the car. If we omit the hyphen, then the phrase could be misinterpreted as meaning a "looking car" is fancy — perhaps that's some new model of car that the writer is referring to? The hyphen makes sure the sentence is interpreted correctly, although they often gets omitted because native English speakers tend to be able to parse the meaning out anyways, even if there's some uncertainty.
En dashes are roughly the length of the letter n (–), and are used to indicate ranges. E.g. 2016–2025.
Em dashes are the longest — about the legnth of the letter m — and are used in a variety of ways. Most commonly for emphasis, or to offset additional information in a sentence, as I did in the previous sentence.

Because killer is the role with the long queue time. Survivor queues are almost instant, there'd be no time to play while you wait because there's no wait time.
Edit: At least survivors have instant queue times in theory. There have been various server outages over the past few days that have messed with queue times so if your survivor queue times are long that might be why.

On Threads the "em dash = Ai" has come up a few times and the main responses are "people are outing themselves for not reading books" and alot of genx and Millenials saying you can tear em dash from their cold dead hands. 😂
Right! The em dash has always been around, at least for those of us who are bookish. I was baffled the first time I heard someone say "Only AI uses dashes" lol

Hm. I write fiction for fun and I've never heard that. I love em dashes. When in doubt, em dash it.
It's a tip that circulates on social media every so often, particularly TikTok but has also cropped up on sites like Wikipedia. Allegedly, you can tell text was AI generated if there's a lot of em dashes or other "uncommon" punctutation like semicolons or ellipses. The rationale being that they're unusual punctutation for humans to include in everyday writing like texts, e-mails, job applications etc. And I think there is a degree of logic to that, however, people often incorrectly extend the advice to creative writing too, where such punctuation is actually common and always has been. Especially where amateur creative writing is concerned.
Sadly, this has lead to a a fair few comments on popular fics asking "Is this AI?", or social media call-out posts of authors being "exposed" for using AI and other such nonsense.
-
Guide was my favourite class previously. I don't really like the new version. Gonna play Scout instead I think.
-
In theory, I agree with this, but it's completely unenforceable in practice.
There's no reliable way to differentiate between generative AI and someone who just has stilted manner of writing. Or even someone who doesn't speak English as a first language and has ran their work through a translator (which is completely valid and should not be banned).
I, for one, write fanfic and have been accused of using AI before because of liberal usage of em dashes. Which is commonly cited as a "tell" that a work is AI, but the only reason AI uses em dashes a lot is because the human works it is mimicking used them first! Lots of the ways people say they can detect AI work are flawed for this reason and just end up with legitimate users getting AI accusations.
-
Thanks for the heads up. Was just about to hop on, guess I’ll wait.
-
Same here. I gave up trying to play killer and after a couple matches I stopped with survivor too because the queue times were really long due to the server outages.
Really disappointed to see DbD take yet another big L this month.
-
1v4 survivor is the only thing working for me currently. Everything else gives me connection to host errors.
-
Same here :(

Switching between menu tabs in this game is ridiculously taxing for some reason, at least in my experience on a lower end PC. Simple things such as equipping or unequipping perks too quickly drops me 30 frames. It's absurd.
I can run way more visually impressive games (like Outlast Trials), at stable framerates of 60 or 90 FPS (depending on graphics settings) but DbD runs terribly regardless of graphics. Even with everything at its lowest, DbD still has constant FPS drops and stutters. Every few updates I have to cap my framerate to something lower because the game just seems to run worse.
I used to play uncapped and get around 100 FPS, then I needed to start capping it to 90 FPS because the gameplay became choppy. And then several updates later, I could no longer reach 90 consistently and now I have to play capped at 60.
The load times aren't a problem for me, but the general performance of the game is. It's choppy these days and navigating the menus is very sluggish. Which is absurd for a game that released in 2016, and still very much looks like a 2016 game. There's nothing visually impressive going on here, so why it runs so bad is beyond me.
-
I don’t see what’s annoying about that. At that point, all that’s left is the sacrifice animations. Which aren’t exactly interesting after you’ve seen them a million times. There’s no gameplay left at that point, so why stay?
-
To nobody’s surprise I’m gonna have to go with Ring. Would love to see some of the novel characters as survivors. Kazuyuki, Mitsuo, or Ryuji in particular.
I think that’s very, very unlikely though. Another Saw, Silent Hill, or Resident Evil chapter seems more plausible, and I’d be happy with those too!

Neither 🤣
I would love to contribute, but I exclusively play in anonymous mode these days. The rare positive message isn't worth the absolute barrage of hate you get for doing literally anything in this game. I normally don't mind hate comments, but there's too many people in this community who take it too far and after a string of bad experiences I decided to protect my peace and just go anon.
-
No. People used to be able to mod DbD and unsurprisingly people used it to give themselves huge advantages.
-
To be honest, I'm not a fan of Dracula's design either.
If you're going to have a killer with multiple powers, then those powers need to be individually mediocre/weak. The overall strength comes in the killer's ability to deal with a variety of situations as opposed to having one strong main power. Vecna does this well. He has four powers, all of which are useful, but each of them either have built-in counterplay (like crouching below the skeletons) or they have magical items to help survivors deal with them. His spells are strong enough that all-together he's a very good killer, but individually none of them are so oppressive that survivors are left with no options.
Dracula on the other hand basically has three killer's MAIN powers, with practically no cooldown between any of them. He gets Nemesis' tentacle whip, Spirit's traversal, AND Wesker's double dash ability, on top of a bunch of freebies like the ability to teleport in bat form, louder survivor noise as the bat, and free tracking and Haste orbs as the wolf. It's kind of wild how much he outclasses Vecna.
-
Noticed this too. Queued up as survivor at x1.50, went to make a drink, came back maybe 2 minutes later and was still in the queue.
Cancelled matchmaing, switched to Vecna, and found a lobby within 30 seconds.
Weird.
-
It's such a shame. I hadn't encountered blatant cheating in months but in the past two days I've seen five :(
Two of them were the same cheater, but still. I wonder why they've decided to all come out of the woodwork now.
-
A community manager confirmed on the forums that Clown will be getting some changes in the next PTB.
As for Ghoul, I believe it was stated on Reddit some time ago in a Q and A that he's on the radar for tweaks.
-
Rough as ever really.
The problem with solo queue is mainly matchmaking. The efforts they've taken to bridge the gap between solo and SWF (primarily the activity HUD) are great when you get matched with competent teammates who know how to use them. But when matchmaking throws you in with a bunch of inexperienced players who don't know how to read the HUD, don't know how perks work, don't know how to counter killer powers, etc. then you get the same old solo queue problems.
Things like HUD, anti face camp, extended hook timers are excellent tools for survivors but are only as useful as the players allow them to be. And unfortunately, matchmaking still lumps experienced players in with players who don't utilise them properly.

Though the 3 killers I'd be concerned about would be Billy, Blight and Oni... I'm not so sure anymore 😬
I’d like to at least try it and see first though. It’s a shame the weaker killers are constantly deprived of good perks due to the stronger ones bottlenecking design.
If it turns and to be too much on them then then can revert it.

Ah yes, more "us vs them" please keep it going, because as long as everyone is fighting each other the game never actually improves.
But you’re the one who brought up an unrelated killer issue in a thread about survivors?
They’re both annoying, but there was no need to bring it up here, except as an “us v them” thing.

Ghoul makes survivor feel pointless, he's too way too oppressive for how easy he is. But i usually just play anyway for bloodpoints and some fun chases. Luckily i play against a variety of killers. I think survivor is often fun, i find it easy to move on from frustrating matches.
My experience lately too. I’ve had a good mix of killers in my matches so overall not bad, but when Ghoul crops up it’s a very unpleasant experience.
He takes far too little effort for how strong he is. Especially when all the ones I play against slap on the strongest add ons and four slowdown :/
-
This happened to me on Fallen Refuge earlier this week too! Was so close to getting the achievement and then Ghostface DCed.
Mercifully, I managed to get the achievement last night after getting really good teammates who saved me in endgame. But yeah, the map achievements are kind of a nuisance now.
-
I’d be happy with any of them to be honest. I just picked Chris because I think he’d be more recognisable to non-Outlast fans who’d only seen promotional material or something.
-
It's a neat idea, but I don't think it'll ever happen sadly. Would upset more people than it would be worth from a PR standpoint.
-
Fog Vials were kind of spammable on release, and when combined with the Iri add-on could be quite a nuisance if multiple survivors had them, so I understand why they received changes. That being said, the changes have gone so overboard that these items are now useless.
IMO, they should either:
- Revert the charge nerf but keep the reduced opacity allowing for infinite uses but weaker LoS blocking.
- Or revert the opacity nerf but keep the limited number of uses, allowing for stronger LoS blocking when used but they need to be used wisely. Although only 2 uses is very stingy, they should at least double that.

I'll check now and report back. I had some EAC issues a month or so ago but they sorted themselves out. Hopefully they have not returned.
Edit: Keep being kicked from the lobby due to an "Error code 3". I'm playing on PC, Steam.
Update: Restarted my PC and was able to find a game.
-
This perk definitely used to work with killer powers because I used to run it on Nemesis. Why they changed it, I have no idea. It wasn’t even particularly good, just okay on a select few killers. They should revert the change/fix the bug.
-
This is such an interesting concept. I can totally see this working in DbD.
