  • I play the game as I normally would as either role.

There was a time when I would be more lenient as a Killer if a Survivor DCed early, but Survivors do it so frequently these days my patience for "babysitting" has worn out.

  • I think it's also worth pointing out that basically every big content creator in this game uses some form of filters or reshade. It's hard to explain but DbD doesn't "photograph" well and without some sort of adjustment, videos or streams of the game can look very washed out.

In a hypothetical world where the developers can and did ban for filters/reshade, DbD's popularity as a streaming game would plummet.

  • how on earth is this not considered cheating? You are using a 3rd party to artificially make something easier to see.

Because the result is no different than turning up the brightness, enabling colour filters, changing settings like saturation, contrast etc. of the TV or monitor you play on. Modern monitors have much of these settings baked into them. If turning up the brightness of the game using ReShade is classed as cheating, then it follows that turning up the brightness of your monitor should be cheating too. But this would obviously be a silly stance for a developer to take, and also completely unenforceable.

  • Not sure really. My Killer queues are fine but Survivor took a while yesterday.

  • I gotta know where y'all are finding all of these Killer main streamers. The vast majoriy of popular content for this game is Survivor.

  • Wraith at release and then I pivoted to Nurse when she came out. The game gradually changed around her to the point where I no longer found her fun or fair to play so I hopped between several different Killers with no real main until Onryo came out.

I would certainly appreciate a gamemode with proper balancing, restrictions, set maps like in the Comp scene. Playing DBD ranked in the discord server takes ages to find a matchup and you're often paired with pretty inexperienced players, since the only requirement to play is knowing Clock Callouts

    I second this.

  • Yeah this is kinda annoying. Happens a lot when I play late at night/early in the morning. I see a few players over and over again that chronically dodge the lobbies. They load in, leave, and then instantly queue up again so they just get thrown back into the same lobby. Like if you're going to dodge, I don't really care, but at least do it correctly and wait 30 seconds before queuing again so the lobby you're avoiding gets filled.

At first I thought it was me they were avoiding, but I've seen them do it in my Killer lobbies (where they wouldn't see that it's me) so I honestly have no idea what their dodge criteria is, but it seems extensive lol.

How doesn't the server disconnect them with such ridiculous ping

No idea. The highest spike I saw them get to was 1000 ms. It's truly unfathomable to me how that's even remotely playable.

  • I'd like to see it. Same with the Iron Maiden and CoFS T-shirts.

This is 'one of' the biggest reasons I quit. Majority of killers are on Asian VPN these days. Like if you are above 100 ping on the EU server, that is alrdy highly questionable. Cause in modern times latencies are never that high, not even on the cheapest connections. You will always have 20-80 ping within the EU. So either they are downloading something, or they are on VPN, there is no other reason for high latencies.

RUS/ME are a different story of course, cause they got no choice, but they will always be above the 80-100 mark sadly… They are sadly a big part of the DBD player population.

Also had South Africans unapologetically say "I just want to play DBD", so you can't even be mad at them, cause they too got no other choice. But the match is completely unplayable for everyone else… So what is the point of playing then? There is no way they don't notice that on their end.

I have been complaining many times over this alrdy in the past. BHVR don't care.

RUS/ME are a different story of course, cause they got no choice, but they will always be above the 80-100 mark sadly…

Personally, I can tolerate RUS, ME, and SA having high pings because they really don't have any other option. I don't know if BHVR can really do anything about the first two regions, but SA 100% deserve their own server. They've been asking for one for years and it would greatly improve their (and everyone else's) experience of the game.

That being said, 800 ping goes way beyond what I'd expect from someone connecting to the next server over from them geographically. Like you said, this is almost certainly someone intentionally messing with their connection and not a "there's no server close to me" issue. I've occasionally ended up on the NA servers as a European and my ping was only ~100-150.

IMO 800 is someone either playing on an outdated connection that isn't designed for modern applications (like online gaming) or tampering in order to gain an advantage. And in either case, I don't think it's fair for their opponents to be forced to stay in the match.

I like it when lore is simple to understand, with little to no sequels that change the main character or worsen the original storyline.
In RE 2 remake, not much happens with Leon and Claire beyond their main goals. Some players speculated that Capcom might not have planned a future with Ada because of how she fell, but others believed she more likely used her grapple gun or landed on a rooftop of some kind, despite how fast she was falling for that to be realistic. I really liked the happy ending in that game, it felt complete, and it's easy to imagine how their lives went on from there. But I lost interest after the RE 3 remake because the lore started to feel a bit repetitive.
Don't get me wrong, though. I still like the characters, and I find Jake and Sherry's story really wholesome to read.

    A fair assessment.

I personally disregard everything after 4 for a similar-ish reason. I felt the story and world of RE just became too expansive for its own good. In my opinion, the formula works best when its isolated to a relatively small area — an "evil residence" if you will — like the Spencer Mansion of the first game. The city location in 2/3 and the village from 4 are still isolated enough to be believable for me, but 5 and 6 just got silly with their scope. The whole battle for global domination thing is something I'd expect from a Supehero movie, not a classic survival horror franchise, and I really struggled to suspend my disbelief with all of the boulder punching, battling in aeroplanes, and boss fights in active volcanos going on.

I heard the game was pretty disappointing, but personally I loved seeing Sherry again.

I also like to pretend that nothing happened after Resident Evil 2... 😅

I'd be curious to hear why you consider 2 the cut-off point.

  • I really wasn't a fan of Jake (or RE6 in general to be honest) but the RE Chapters in DbD are pretty solid IMO so I'd gladly take another one.

I bought the green and black Taurie head, and after some months of having them I noticed that they changed color palette (and now I like them less). At first it didn't bother me that much, but when I noticed other skins of other friends of mine had these changes I decided to make a post about it.

BHVR what are you doing? :/

Taurie's hair has been the wrong colour for months now. Fairly certain its a bug and will eventually be fixed, but its unacceptable that paid content is remaining broken for so long.

    Literally this.

None of this makes sense why we even have it then if it’s designed to be completely inaccurate data. It’s just intentionally misleading.

I'm so disappointed. I filled in the Player Satisfaction Survey a couple of days ago saying how nice the Stats tracker was only to find out its completely inaccurate 🤦‍♂️

BHVR has me looking like a fool once again.

The stats website has no correlation with the stats that we collect internally that work for things like MMR and the stats we periodically show to players.

I'm sort of confused what the point is then?

Why give players stats that aren't an accurate reflection of how the game works? A player's displayed killrate on the stats website seems null and void to me if the game (like MMR) operates off of different numbers.

  • I'd be fine with a ping/callout system like the mobile version had, but I would never use VC in a game like DbD.

  • This is intended, no?

MFT requires the user to be Injured to activate and FTP requires the user to be healthy. Ergo, their effects can never activate at the same time.

  • 99%ing Exit Gates kills way more Survivors than it saves. There's a couple of situations where its appropriate (like if the Killer is currently carrying someone you should wait until they're hooked to avoid Bloodwarden), but for the most part 99%ing is a mistake.

  • I still mourn the loss of the old lighting. The graphics overhaul they did might've improved the textures, but all of the original atmosphere was lost.

  • Legion's power is fundamentally incompatible with 2v8. His ability to Injure the whole team for free is balanced out by the fact he has no chase power to help him get the down. Adding a second Killer who has a chase power to the mix, removes the one thing keeping Legion in check.

Legion either needed reworked completely for 2v8 or removed. There was no other option.

  • Thank you for letting us know 🙏

This is the main place I come for DbD news so if it weren't for y'all I wouldn't hear about these things.

  • Wesker probably. He's strong, but requires a decent amount of skill and even then he isn't insurmountable in chase.

  • She literally moves at 120% movement speed in head form permanently on top of having a chase power (dash and vaulting) and mobility (Headlong Flight) and the widest FOV of any Killer.

She has every built-in advantage they could possibly give her, I don’t understand this post at all

    • Similarly to MacMillan, I don't understand why this Realm got changed. Most of the maps i thought were reasonable for both sides but have now skewed to favour the Survivors immensely — especially Gas Heaven, which was already too strong for Survivors in the first place.
    • Disturbed Ward is possibly the strongest main building in the entire game for Survivors. The only saving grace this map had for Killers was that there were a couple of deadzones you could sometimes catch Survivors in. Even then, the main building is central and accessible from multiple angles so they'd almost always make it to safety after the first hit anyways. This map did not need any more pallets, and it has since become absolutely unbearable as Killer. I'd consider this map actually unplayable for the average Killer.
    • Father Campbell's Chapel also did not need any more pallets. The main building is not as egregiously strong as the Asylum, but is still a strong, central loop for Survivors nonetheless. Now the Chapel and shack are completely surrounded by safe filler pallets too. Sometimes it even spawns those 2v8 tiles with two pallets opposite each other. It's way too much.
    • I don't really understand why MacMillan was changed. I thought this Realm was pretty fairly balanced before the increased density changes. Now there's SO many filler pallets and the Realm has become really unpleasant to play on as Killer.
    • For example, Coal Tower was probably the most balanced map in the game, and now you can get like 5 pallets surrounding shack. Chasing Survivors around setups like that as a weaker Killer is completely unviable.
    • Shattered Square is egregiously Survivor-sided now. There's just too much safety on this map.
    • Forgotten Ruins needed the additional pallets, and is much more fun to play on as Survivor now.
    • The edge-map pallets on Backwater Swamp are nice additions, but the increased pallet density in the centre of the map is problematic. You can get multiple safe fillers around the pier, which is already a very strong tile, and its too much. As for Grim Pantry, the fillers around shack make it super hard to play for any of the weaker Killers.
    • The piers can now spawn two pallets arranged in a jungle gym setup and that really should not exist. These double pallet setups were removed years ago for good reason.
    • I like the new pallets that spawn around the Sanctum in-between the statues. They're weak, but a nice bouncing-off point for Lithe or Smash Hit or something if you manage to play them right. But I don't think the rest of the map needed any more pallets. Shack side of the map already could spawn some very strong set ups that were only balanced out by the shape of the map making it easy to defend generators.
    • Family Residence has too many fillers now. I thought it was an okayish map before the changes, but now I really don't enjoy playing on it as Killer.
    • Coldwind definitely needed more pallets — it had a tendency to spawn very few, and those that you did get were far too weak and poorly connected to the rest of the map.
    • Upping the pallet density has made Rancid Abbatoir and Rotten Fields a lot more fair for Survivors to play on, but I feel like Cowshed, Torment Creek, and Thompson House sometimes spawn a little too many fillers too close together. It's not egregious like some of the other updated realms, but it does feel that sometimes there's a tad too many pallets within close proximity to each other.
    • Overall, Coldwind is a pretty reasonable Realm but a few of the maps could do with spawning one or two less fillers.
    • Haddonfield was one of the few maps that actually needed an increase in pallet density. The street and parks feel much more playable for Survivors now. I think the balance is a lot better now.
    • Mount Ormond Resort already had a very strong, central main building. Having a strong main building like that, that Survivors can easily get to means that the rest of the map needs to be relatively weaker in order to balance things out. There's too many safe pallets on the map now, including pallets which easily chain into the main building bar window and shack.
    • Ormond Lake Mine is pretty well-balanced IMO.
    • Temple of Purgation is okay, I feel. That map sometimes spawned unreasonable deadzones along the sides of the Temple, but now has a more reasonable spread of resources.
    • Mother's Dwelling skews too much in favour of Survivors now. The main building and shack have always been very strong, but it was evened out by the fact that you'd have some gaps where there were just trees and rocks. In other words, the existence of some deadzones balanced out the presence of a strong and accessible main building. Currently, there's safety everywhere and its too oppressive for the weaker Killers.
  • It means temporarily switching during the queue so you can level Bloodwebs, change cosmetics etc. of other Killers while you queue for one specific Killer.

Once you start to matchmake, you're locked into playing that specific Killer but you're still able to put Bloodpoints into someone else, browse the store etc. while you wait.

  • DbD continues its trend of saying an issue is fixed in the patch notes only for the issue to be very alive and well in game.

Jokes aside, this is very disappointing. They should add a toggle to make Killer weapons transparent or something, because this kind of thing is actually unplayable.

It's Necessary if you want to continue the toxic snowball mentality which plagues this game rn, you don't NEED to win every game on either side. People are just doing their challenges in the event mode for the most part.

IF you're playing DBD to win of all games in its current state you're just wishing stress and upset on yourself, you literally answered what I said to you back to me lol.

If I get sacrificed, so what? If I don't get a 3k? So what. The issue is, people are playing for a Wendy's gift card and expecting the devs to balance around that.

The message isn't being misunderstood, you're just trying to validate an awful mindset to approach this game with and the Anti-Tunnel/Slugging is going to make people like you sad coz you're too used to playing this way.

At its core your argument boils down to "these people are playing the game with a mindset and playstyle that I don't like." That's it.

Don't get me wrong, you're free to feel that way. But your interpretation of how people should approach the game is not any more moral or valid than than the people you're arguing against.

If I get sacrificed, so what? If I don't get a 3k? So what. The issue is, people are playing for a Wendy's gift card and expecting the devs to balance around that.

And that's YOUR opinion and YOUR idea for how the game should be played. What makes your vision for the game any more valid than theirs? Respectfully, you're not the paragon of game balance either. By demanding the developers balance around your idea of a perfect DbD, you're doing the exact same thing you're saying is so bad about the other side.

you're just trying to validate an awful mindset to approach this game

Again, this mindset is "awful" to you. I don't think it's awful at all, and there's many players that feel the same way.

the Anti-Tunnel/Slugging is going to make people like you sad coz you're too used to playing this way.

I rarely tunnel as Killer, but whatever.

I don't think they are misinterpereting it, I think punishing other players for a devs choice is such a negative way to handle things.

Stikyard has a point, people need to be playing this game to enjoy themselves, not be miserable.

No, the quote has definitely been misunderstood.

Tunneling is a very consistent and relatively easy strategy to pull off for the Killer. Playing nice inherently involves more work as you're leaving your opponents in the match longer. Making the game harder for Killers by increasing the amount of pallets Survivors have makes "playing nice" much more difficult and so some Killers have decided factoring the Survivors' fun into their playstyle is now no longer worth the hassle.

In other words, the game became noticeably harder for all but the strongest Killers with the pallet density increase and so some Killers have decided to fall back on an easier, more consistent strategy. You're assigning malice to what is easily explained by a simple desire to win. Of course there are some individuals out there who do these things maliciously, but the vast majority of Killers are not queuing up with the express intention of "punishing other players", nor are they "miserable". They're playing in the way they feel is necessary given the current state of the game.

In an event with a bunch of side quests for cosmetics and rewards. I'm literally opening portals and farming crystals and we are tunneling and camping?

You're telling me, tunneling and camping is fun?

    Oh here we go again.

You're telling me, tunneling and camping is fun?

Yes. Myself and many other players have plenty of fun in matches where tunneling/camping occur. If you don't, then that's fine. It's entirely a matter of opinion. The argument of "Do y'all really find tunneling fun?" is meaningless because it's entirely a matter of opinion.

  • They mean that they aren't going to go out of their way to prioritise the Survivors' fun (i.e. not tunneling or camping). You've misunderstood their quote.

  • Yes! We need more comprehensive graphics settings for everyone!

  • I'm getting "No network connection" and "EAC couldn't initialise" errors. Started about 10 minutes ago.

  • Onryo should not be able to teleport back to back to get someone condemned.

So remove the entire point of her power? Right…

Hi, I’m part of a group of people that regularly play against each other on both sides in customs doing exactly this; and it is not only a valid strategy, but a fun one when everyone is on the same page.

Tunneling sucks in solo queue because your teammates are potatoes that can’t hold chase, so altruistic counterplay, strategic stealth, and other forms of macro gameplay mean nothing. If every game I played was versus a tunneling killer but everyone on my team knew what to do, I would have zero issues with it.

I’m sorry you don’t find it fun but that doesn’t mean no one here can recognize it as a strategy.

    Exactly this!

When everyone in a match is of a similar skill level and mindset, then tunneling is VERY counterable. The only reason so many people think it is insurmountable is because this game does a very bad job of matchmaking people of appropriate skill levels and attitudes together, and so you get solo queue teammates who don't have any idea what they're doing, or just give up at the slightest inconvenience. It follows that the logical solution is to address matchmaking, so people are matched with suitable teammates and opponents, instead of trying to twist the fundamentals to handhold weaker players.

Identifying and exploiting your opponents' weak spots is the key to basically ANY PvP game. If you leave your pieces hanging in Chess and they get taken, no one would argue that your opponent was playing unfair/mean/its not a valid strategy/rushed their objectives. It's simply how the game is played, and DbD operates on much the same principle. So often when Survivors in my matches complain of "tunneling", they actually just left their pieces hanging. Healing under hook, taking aggro while on death hook, body blocking with their post-unhook protections etc. Learning how to not make yourself a target for tunneling, is an important skill for Survivors. And protecting your teammates in the event they DO get targetted is an equally valuable skill, but no one seems interested in learning it.

Too many people seem to have forgotten that Survivor is a team role, and are only interested in their own Survival.

  • @razvicool said:

I doubt you do. You think you do if you play only killer and are having fun doing this, but if the game just turned to a race of gen rushing against a tunneling killer, you would soon realise you won't enjoy that.

    I doubt you do

Well, you'd be wrong. I very much mean what I said.

  • Mine are also instant, have been since the event started.

  • Edit: Accidentally double posted; ignore this.

  • I'm so bored of it now. Every match is Nostromo or Hawkins. It's exhausting.

  • Not a single person accepts that it's a strategy, it's just not fun for either side.

I'm a single person who accepts it as a strategy.

1 … 3 4 5 6 7 … 33
