That and that other filter not working is good news for the fairness of the game.

And horrible news for anyone with vision problems.

They can get rid of NVIDIA filters when they get basic display settings. Until then, reenable them.

Getting rid of them without so much as an announcement is a massive "screw you" to disabled players who bought the game with the confidence that NVIDIA filters were supported for the game (as listed on NVIDIA's website) and they could therefore play.

    • Show me any sort of official BHVR source that says they officially support the filters
    • Again, you have failed to explain how, just because some people use them "moderately" makes it so we allow others to abuse them
      • Again, in my example, a deaf or hard of hearing person downloading some kind of cheat to see survivor auras. Should we suddenly now allow people to use those cheats because a tiny minority are using them for accessibility purposes?
      • Again, why are we crying out about accessibility and ignore the majority of the player base that is NOT playing on PC. So forget about those console players right? They don't get the accessibility options.
    • A 3rd party program that modifies the game to give an unfair advantage over a player who is not using that 3rd party program is a pretty simple definition of a cheat.
    • You can check NVIDIA's list of officially supported games.
    • A deaf person downloading cheats to have wallhacks on survivors is such an absurd strawman I won't even entertain it.
    • How do you know I HAVEN'T asked for better accessibility options in the base game? For the record, I mention this in the feedback surveys they do regularly, have spoke about it on Twitter, and previously spoke about it here.
    • The 3rd party program in question being software integrated with my graphics card that came with my PC. You heard it here first folks, if you buy a NVIDIA graphics card you're a cheater.
  • @Reinami said:

So because SOME people don't use it to cheat, we should allow others to be able to use it to cheat?

Some key things you’re conveniently omitting are that:

    • DbD officially supported NVIDIA filters for years.
    • The overwhelming majority of players who use filters do so moderately. The examples on YouTube you’re referring to are just a loud minority.
    • You can use so many things to “cheat” if your definition is so lax it includes using officially supported features. We should just delete the whole game and all hardware and software ever invented lest someone use any of it to cheat 🙏
  • @Reinami said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3787404#Comment_3787404

So should people who are deaf be allowed download a cheat as killer to show the aura of survivors because they aren't able to hear where they are? After all, they are doing it for accessibility purposes.

There are plenty of examples you can easily find on youtube of people using filters to modify the red glow for example to be able to see it in situations where they otherwise would not be able to

    I literally called it 😭

  • I wouldn't bother. They'll pull out some obscure clip of a Blight player with all colours muted except for red and then act like 99% of filters users do the same when in reality all most of us do is slightly alter brightness or contrast (within bounds that most modern monitors and TVs can too).

  • @Reinami said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3787382#Comment_3787382

The game has color blind modes, even if it doesn't help you, the fact remains that 99.9% of people using reshade are not doing it because "it makes the game look better" they are doing it because it gives them an advantage over players who don't use it.

The proper solution is for you to petition BHVR about their colorblind mode and add more accessibility options if it isn't working for you, not use a 3rd party cheat.

BYE. It took BHVR seven years to add a search bar. We're not going to get these settings in any reasonable timeframe and you know it. So your interim solution basically boils down to "screw players with vision problems".

  • @doobiedo said:

It's hilarious seeing the meltdowns in the other forums about his. It reminds me of when Hunt: Showdown banned Reshade. Everyone was raging saying "I'm colorblind", "its too dark it looks bad", and on and on. I will say Reshade was much worse in Hunt as there were ways to use it to explicitly cheat, while in dbd it's more subtle things like making the red stain and scratch marks more noticeable and such. Still I think it is best for the game to have an even playing field as much as possible and I mean we all know most of the people complaining are not colorblind, they just want their slight advantage.

It's hilarious seeing the meltdowns in the other forums about his

You're right. Watching people be rightly upset they can no longer play the game because of legitimate accessibility issues is so funny.

we all know most of the people complaining are not colorblind

Do we? Colour blindness is incredibly common. It affects 1/12 men. That's a huge chunk of the population.

We cannot confirm the safety of any third party programs.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't NVIDIA filters provided on an opt-in basis? So game developers are responsible for asking NVIDIA to make them compatible with their game? That's the gist I get when I search online, and DbD is listed as a supported game by NVIDIA themselves (https://www.nvidia.com/en-gb/geforce/geforce-experience/games/).

  • @Coordi said:

We do not support any third-party software and we have always advised players that they are "use at your own risk".

This will be a valid stance to take when the game has any actual display options. Why is there not a gamma slider, or contrast or something? This has been standard in gaming for years. DbD is unplayable during daylight hours without me having to use filters or tweak my monitor's settings.

I can't, haven't received the first drop. I unlinked twitch, ps5 from my bhvr accounts. Re linked them. Usually this works. But not working this time. I'm about don't trying

I'm yet to have a Twitch Drops campaign run smoothly. I almost always have to unlink and relink or something and watch WAY more than prescribed because the duration watched doesn't track properly. It's a shame because it's a neat concept but it always ends up a hassle.

Ah yeah, classic "but what about awful players, who don't want to learn the game". If you believe these people should be taken into account in game balancing, then literally half of the game should be deleted as well.

If you believe these people should be taken into account in game balancing, then literally half of the game should be deleted as well.

Where on earth did I say that? Ah yeah, classic DbD forum members responding to imaginary comments.

  • This is why I stopped using Plot Twist. It’s not a bad perk in and of itself, especially in endgame but solo queue completely ruins it.

  • @Crowman said:

I don't think a perk that can't work by itself really needs a nerf.

Plus frankly the kind of build that Pentimento is on is one where the killer the killers needs to be playing well for Pentimento to give value.

the killers needs to be playing well for Pentimento to give value.

Ehh I don’t agree. Every time I encounter Pentimento my teammates just hand the stacks to the killer as opposed to the killer earning them.

Like someone will cleanse a dull and the debuff will pop up and then one of my teammates who clearly doesn’t understand how the perk works will just run around and cleanse every totem they see and inadvertently let the killer rekindle more totems.

  • Pentimento is what I call a “nuisance perk”, along with others like Knock Out, Weave Attunement, Rancor etc.

These perks barely have an effect in a SWF but become a considerable nuisance to deal with in solo queue due to not being able to coordinate counterplay.

On paper, the effects aren’t that strong, but my solo queue matches just seem fall apart when these perks come into play.

I gave up on this game being horror. I just play TCM for that now but keep DBD around just cause I've been having fun with the gameplay and realized unfortunately the horror fans of DBD are in the minority and people would rather popular IPs than horror IPs. If im giving up on the horror I might as well have fun with it some other way

    Fair I suppose.

  • Is 2024 the year of drag in dbd?

Hopefully not. We’ve had way too much non-horror and horror-adjacent content recently. This kind of thing should be like once or twice a year max.

Because you and several other people have accused me of rubbing my win in their faces when that was not my intention. And I’m gonna keep doing what I want to do because streaming platforms are public so as long as i’m not breaking any rules I don’t need anyone’s approval of how I’m gonna go into someone’s stream and interact with them postgame.

I’m just trying to lead by example and be the better person than someone that chooses to ragequit at the beginning of game simply because they don’t like going up against a certain killer/ game mechanic.

I’m just trying to lead by example and be the better person than someone that chooses to ragequit at the beginning of game

What you're doing is the exact opposite of being the better person. When someone is angry, the mature thing to do is to leave them alone to cool off, ESPECIALLY if they have already made it clear they don't want to engage with you (as they did by ragequitting).

Nothing good is ever going to come from pursuing someone who doesn't want to interact with you. Is the streamer in the wrong for ragequitting? Absolutely. But what you're doing is equally bad form.

  • @Ayodam said:

Is this some weird new form of bait?

Going to that player’s stream to say “GG” after your win seems condescending. Not sure why you’d think someone who rage quit would want to hear anything at all from you. I wonder if you really did it to like mess with him because there’s no way you thought someone who rage quit would appreciate you entering their stream to say something known for being mocking.

Is this some weird new form of bait?

This kind of thing is either naivety or ragebait. There's zero other rational explanation.

Anyone with social awareness knows that engaging with someone who ragequit against you is a bad idea and is likely to stoke the flames further. But that's often the goal, so they go ahead and say something like "gg" or "wp" when it's obviously unwelcome and then hide behind the veneer of sportsmanship when the other party is hacked off about it.

  • @Nathan13 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3780431#Comment_3780431

I was polite and said GG, thats all you can do. Idk what else I’m supposed to do.

"Sometimes doing nothing is the right thing to do"

  • This is something they really need to look at. It’s been a problem for years and is only getting worse as more content is added.

I remember when I first started playing the Hatch was referred to as the “Hatch”, “Black Lock”, and “Dark Lock” in different places and it took me way too long to work out that they all referred to the same thing. Lack of consistency in names and descriptions is incredibly confusing for new players and also a nuisance for experienced ones trying to make use of the search bar.

  • You don’t. Slugging is not an offense.

  • Also, why does this tab obscure the charms? This just seems so poorly thought out.

    image.png
  • I've never understood why FNaF fans always get so defensive when people state the obvious. Like the target audience is kids and teens. That's always been the primary fanbase of the games. I can't help but think that the lady doth protest too much.

No, actually, nowhere near. The BM did not fall out of a coconut tree and exists within the context of everything that comes before it - most noteably, there are no sexual connotations behind being hit on hook (tbagging is another matter, but considering that it's being done over the ground and not another person, and it has evolved from its contemporary roots to have taken on a much more basic meaning in wider gaming communities, I'd argue that it has been watered down enough to not count either). Humping is not only cringe but must be taken in context, like how tbagging used to be seen. Critically, humping is always done over a downed survivor, and there is unfortunately nothing that can be done by that survivor to prevent it. I don't believe I need to go into detail about the actions it has connotations to, but they are much more prevalent than in other forms of BM found (again, tbagging is the most direct equivalent but I'd argue that it is seen as a lot more general BM now).

Not only is it cringe, immature, and kind of disgusting, it is a lot more reminiscent of sexual harrassment and SA than being hit on the hook ever will be. Unless you're into that, I don't judge.

The BM did not fall out of a coconut tree and exists within the context of everything that comes before it

This is so bad taste. Who opens a comment about SH/SA with a TikTok meme? Like what.

  • Pretty much. This map is an instant loss against any competent killer. It's small, main building windows are weak now, pallets are few and far between, and most are laughably unsafe.

so in that way no major changes are ever allowed to happen if it changes anything on the existing game.

thats just stupid. a game evolves and if many people enjoy 2v8 bhvr needs to work out a way how both 1v4 and 2v8 can exist together.

i for one will never ever play a single game of 1v4 ever again simply because i love that im not alone anymore. since i started dbd i struggle to play more then 3 games as a killer cause when all the pressure rest on me alone i struggle. now i have team mate and i feel so much better playing.

i for one will never ever play a single game of 1v4 ever again

This is so bizarre to me. If the only fun you have in this game is when they drastically change it during events, then it sounds to me that you don’t actually like DbD.

Which is fine. But what isn’t fine IMO is buying a 1v4 game, realising you don’t like it, and instead of just recognising you made a mistake, badgering the developers to change everything about it to the detriment of queue times and developer resources.

I’ve always maintained that I have no issue with alternate game modes so long as the base game doesn’t suffer for them. But it’s very clear that 2v8 is detrimental to 1v4, and so long as that’s true, 2v8 can’t stay. Put 2v8 in customs or have it come back for a weekend once a month or something. But make this mode permanent? Can’t and shouldn’t happen.

I like how at the end you make it go lower despite the clearly being over the line you drew😭. Again, averaging around even 50k is still an increase from the 39-44k average we had previously and this is taking in the fizzled out hype

"(drawn very shakily in red lol)"

Again, averaging around even 50k is still an increase from the 39-44k average

Again, this is normal for there being an event on. It's not a permanent increase, and the numbers are slowly dropping again. Which is very obvious from the graph.

Before 2v8 it was in the mid 40's dropping to high 30's occasionally. 2v8 has seen an increase by 10K? With more updates and more content 2v8 could bring even further increased playerbase if its already performing well (which it is despite forum fearmongering)

    image.png image.png

These players are not permanent and are gradually leaving again. Notice the downard trend following the peak of players after 2v8's release (drawn very shakily in red lol).

If they added perks and all killers to 2v8 then it would become the most popular game mode by far. Many players has prefers 2v8, their fun shouldn't be sacrificed so that killer mains in 1v4 (a small minority of the playerbase) can have shorter queues.

If they added perks and all killers to 2v8 then it would become the most popular game mode by far

    No it wouldn't.

1v4 (a small minority of the playerbase)

The 1v4 crowd is the VAST majority of the playerbase. It's the gameplay loop that's been sustained for 8 years now. It's the reason everyone who has bought the game, bought the game. That's not to say a lot of people aren't enjoying 2v8, because clearly a lot of people like it. But 1v4 is the bread and butter of this game, and any assertion otherwise is just ludicrous.

okey so your quetine us coming at the expense of our fun. bhvr needs to find a solid middle ground for both of us to have fun and not to long que times

That argument doesn't work the other way around because you bought a 1v4 game. It's hardly fair for people to decide they'd like DbD better if they drastically overhauled the fundamentals of the game, and then expect the regular 1v4 crowd to be okay with being turfed out.

  • @Deathstroke said:

People has been asking 2vs8 for 8 years and many have always wanted to play killer with friend or with larger group survivor.

If queque times is your only problem that would be so easy to fix especially 1vs4. Devs said they put in future separate bp bonuses if that really the only reason many play 2vs8. You should ask that and not ask removing game mode many enjoy playing.

Base game would be fine once 2vs8 is pernament many will return to play it more. Survivor in future just need to be made more fun. In base game survivor has gotten more stale and that's the real issue.

People has been asking 2vs8 for 8 years

Irrelevant. DbD is fundamentally a 1v4 game. If people don't like that then they should play something else instead of expecting the core playerbase to foot the bill (longer queue) to facilitate their drastic overhauls to the game.

  • Not up to that challenge yet myself but a couple of people on the Steam discussions said the same thing earlier. So looks like you're not the only one.

  • @TragicSolitude said:

The actual gameplay is totally uninteresting for survivor IMO.

Yeah, it's either boring because it's just a gen-rushing steamroll or it's depressing because it's a bunch of survivors who don't touch gens and leave you to die. That second kind of match caused me to just turn the game off early last night, I can't take running the killers around for way longer than is reasonable, gens not getting done, and then I die while the people who did so little escape. It's 1v4's problems magnified, but I don't even get to have a lute to jam out with.

Pretty much same experience here. Either everyone knows what they're doing and the generators fly by, or you're just solemnly watching 7 teammates do nothing. Also, I just don't enjoy being chased by two killers. There's really nothing you can do if they sandwich you at a loop.

The class system underwhelms me too. The only two that are engaging are Escapist and Scout, although the latter doesn't get very good BPs if you use it properly. Guide and Healer are important for getting objectives done, but their abilities are so passive and uninteresting that I'm not surprised noone in my lobbies is using them.

  • @Mandy said:

Not strictly true that survivors do not want to play the mode - there's more survivors than ever in fact, it's just that there's also more people wanting to play killer in that mode as well, and it means that the balance between role numbers is off and with having this mode alongside the main game, that's had a knock on effect to the Live game as a whole.

Not strictly true that survivors do not want to play the mode - there's more survivors than ever in fact

I'd be willing to wager that that's due to the unprecedented BP bonus offered for playing the mode and the fact regular 1v4 is currently lacking any incentive. The actual gameplay is totally uninteresting for survivor IMO.

    Can they do that?

I've seen it said "5d on 2v8 event". Is it gonna go away after 5d?

Besides, they (Developers) should've thought of that before implementing it. Such q times just actually making the game unplayable, it's just way too long, I'm not even sure that my actual match is gonna be longer.

Is it gonna go away after 5d?

Yes. The event is time limited and ends on August 8th. Which couldn't come soon enough, because I'd actually like to be able to play DbD.

Besides, they (Developers) should've thought of that before implementing it.

Totally agree. Anyone with a reasonable degree of foresight saw this coming. It's obvious we don't have the playebase to support concurrent modes, particularly ones which need 10 players per match. Why they decided to go ahead with this is baffling to me.

it's just way too long, I'm not even sure that my actual match is gonna be longer.

As soon as my queues became longer than the actual matches, I stopped trying and switched games. No point wasting time waiting around in lobbies.

  • Not dead, the playerbase is just split between two separate modes currently, which is wreaking havoc on queue times. Frankly, the wait times for anything other than 2v8 survivor are totally unacceptable and they should end the event early IMO.

  • @Deathstroke said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3772717#Comment_3772717

Then you don't have to play it. Many of us are having fun with it. You wanting to take it away from us is wrong.

Then you don't have to play it.

How many times does this need to be said? 🤦‍♂️

The queue times for regular DbD are through the roof right now. I literally cannot play either mode without an unreasonable wait. Your "fun" is coming at the expense of the base game. Y'know, the thing that people have played DbD for for 8 years now. The thing we all bought the game for.

  • @jesterkind said:

The amount of posts with this kind of sentiment is baffling to me. We've known since the beginning it would be temporary and we've known since the beginning it'd be coming back after they've iterated on it, there's no reason to think either of those things would be changing.

We've known since the beginning it would be temporary and we've known since the beginning it'd be coming back after they've iterated on it

A lot of this discourse (particularly on Twitter and TikTok) is coming from casual or temporary players who don't play the game outside of major events or content drops so naturally they aren't up to date with developer communications.

  • because we want 2v8 to STAY.

Who is we? Certainly not me.

This mode doesn't interest me whatsoever and is damaging 1v4 queue times. I do not want it to stay, nor do I want it to return.

  • Count me out of that. I'd much rather play 1v4 survivor than 2v8.

  • The only behaviour that is automatically tracked and (temporarily) banned is disconnecting from matches. Other reports are dealt with by people, so you don't have anything to worry about.

  • This issue has been plaguing me for months. I think I first made a thread on it last year and am very displeased to see absolutely nothing has been done to resolve it.

With the abundance of reports on social media, it’s clearly an issue on DbD’s end, so why we still get a penalty for it is beyond me.

  • 2v8 survivor is probably the worst experience this game has to offer. Lights Out was more fun.

  • Said this would happen all along. Splitting the playerbase like this is a terrible idea that’ll hurt the game more than it helps. Can’t understand why the 2v8 crowd didn’t see this. It was inevitable.

  • @Skitten56 said:

Unpopular opinion but 2v8 was not that great. It was mostly popular due to novelty, the ability for killers to play together, and the fact it was in demand for a long time. There are 2 main issues for me with 2v8 that BHVR needs to address.

    1. The actual mode has reduced survivor gameplay, in a game where many survivors already say the gameplay is stale. Removing the ability to get flashlight or pallet saves was a big mistake. BHVR should have had remote hooking but with a 1sec delay after picking up in order to avoid the issues of the anniversary event. The lack of killer variety isn't great either.
    2. The queue times are horrible for killers and the standard mode. I actually have mostly stopped playing dbd until the event ends because of how long it takes to get a match. I'm sure there are many others like me.

A lot of the issues with 2v8 BHVR can fix in time but they will absolutely need to address them, especially if they intend this to be a permanent mode at some point. I personally would rather have BHVR invest in 5v5 or VIP modes since those have always been the most interesting to me.

I actually have mostly stopped playing dbd until the event ends because of how long it takes to get a match

In the exact same situation here.
