I just read the first sentence and ask myself rn: why giving this wall of text then? You really think I will read that after not accepting the challenge. Actions speak louder than words. Lets show the community how you can not get looped for minutes instead of talking and talking. But you know exactly that it only worked against potatoes you versed, that's the reason why you are afraid to accept it and search for excuses.

Read whatever you want. I don't know why, but I'm trying to help you get better at the game. You want to be stubborn and continue being a closed-minded, bad player? Fine. You do you.

Whining about infinites and then saying 'come fight me bruv' when you are proven wrong... That's hilarious. Players like you are the reason achieving balance is so difficult for the devs. A potato who thinks he isn't a potato (you) is a headache to deal with because he won't accept he is wrong, and is then super vocal in his whining.

I doubt it because good survivors will vault the second floor and wait on the back porch roof. They won't jump down unless they KNOW the killer is coming, so you can't mind game them unless they are low ranked survivors.

Overall, this may sound killer biased, but Haddonfield is the most broken map in the game in my opinion. I'm terrible at chases as a survivor, and for me to run the killer for 3-5 generators on the semi-infinite (it takes the killer so long to catch up you minus well call it an actual infinite), is ridiculous. :(

Did you read what I wrote? Brute-forcing it is good enough if you do what I said. And if your routing isn't very optimal, here is another tip: hide your red stain before quickly turning and vaulting the window. Be careful not to get stuck on any walls! I know that can be difficult for some players! Now the survivor player will hesitate for a split second before jumping down, allowing even low rank killers opportunity to catch up!

    ---------

Honestly, the consensus on the Asian servers is that the number of North American killer players who are potatoes is a really high number compared to actual good Killers. I didn't want to believe that, but talking to some of you, and seeing some of these clueless replies from players who seemingly have put almost no time into killers (otherwise why would you think this is an infinite when it clearly, clearly isn't) makes me wonder if they are right.

Ahh, It's always the same pattern for people like you. First claim something, then the "try it out by yourself it works" argument and then finally when you challenge them they run away like chickens.

Thank you for silently proofing my point. You just versed survivors who are bad, someone of my caliber or even better will run you forever.

    Cheers

Mate, I don't mean to sound harsh, but I get absolutely nothing out of proving to you what actual good players already know about the game.

You claim you would run me forever, but the actual mechanics of the game and the way you are talking like you think you know what you are talking about (when you clearly don't) show me that a player of your caliber is probably just a perennial purple rank player who eventually finds his way to red ranks by the end of the month, beating noob killers, and when you finally run into an actual killer (hint: it's me) and get decimated, you blame teammates.

That Haddonfield house is not an infinite. Did you even know that attacking while falling gets you closer to the survivor than simply falling? If you have been at red ranks and facing actual good players for any length of time you should know that. And if you understand that (pretty basic thing) you should also know that doing that makes this infinite you seem to think still exists in the game, nonexistant. Throw in bamboozle and even the absolute most optimal course you take will be caught.

Please learn the basic game mechanics (distances, movement) before bringing false information onto the forums.

Again, it NOT an infinite, but it does need to be changed because it is a pretty mindless loop that takes too long to break. Why is this common knowledge even being discussed?

I would gladly run you in 1v1 for several minutes and proof you wrong, do you accept the challenge? Ofc I will record and upload our little funny match :)

I just said I don't care enough whether or not you believe me. Why would I bother 1v1'ing to prove something I know to be true? Do it yourself, as I said, and you'll get your proof there.

Go ask your toxic doctor friend to run it with you, but teach him what I told you first. Good luck!

    1. you seem awfully rude
    2. It cant be mind gamed because of how easy it is to just wait inside the house, as soon as the killers red stain appears at either entrance just run back up stairs its that easy.

Good killers hide their red stain and do the falling technique I mentioned, but most of all, good Killers don't waste their time with that loop unless the game is already decided in their favor. But again..it isn't an infinite......

  • @kate_best_girl said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/722478#Comment_722478

Then explain wretched shop infinite which very much still exists. Also how does swinging while falling help anything? By the time youre recovering from the swing they're already up the stairs again

Try it next time you play killer. Try falling normally. Then try attacking in the direction you want to fall. The difference is so noticeable.

This technique is also used by good Killers when entering the basement. Simply falling down the stairs, and swinging when you fall down the stairs will get you to the hook at different times.

I use both bamboozle and this technique, so the haddonfield myers house isn't as daunting, but I would never recommend taking that chase unless you are clearly already winning the match.

And wretched shop is not an infinite. It is another example of terrible design, but not an infinite.

  • @justarandy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/722401#Comment_722401

Then the survivors you versed weren't optimal with their routing.

Hahaha. Look, I don't care. Try it yourself next time you play killer on that map. It's not an infinite. You can catch up if you know what you are doing.

Let me ask you a question: that doctor you ran forever, did he swing when falling? If you don't swing you probably won't catch up. I don't care how optimally you run it. Yes, you will you waste a good chunk of time, but if the killer knows what he is doing, you will be caught.

There aren't any more infinites in the game.

  • @justarandy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/722330#Comment_722330

Nope, someone with balanced will run you forever even with bloodlust 3.

I did it once against a toxic doctor (I haven't felt bad the slightest because he was toxic af) and I was running him for 4 minutes straight, got hit once and then adrenaline popped and I escaped.

Not true. If you swing when decsending you can cut the chase time down considerably and catch them even with balanced..I've done it many times...

I'm not saying it isn't terrible. It is definitely the worst area on the worst map in the game, and it needs to be fixed badly, but it's not an infinite, and it can be beaten.

  • It's definitely a terrible map and terrible tile, but it's not an infinite. When you are going down from the roof swing in the direction you want to go and you'll gain some distance as opposed to just falling straight down. Even if they have balanced landing they can be caught this way. (i think...i always have bamboozle if I am attempting this. Haven't tried without)

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/720530#Comment_720530

I mean if you like chases so much why don't you figure out plays to mindgame nurse or spirit? And yes there are many possibilities. Nurse? Break LoS and doubleback for example. You can extend this mindgame to a full 360° so the nurse player does the wrong read. Spirit? She's phasing? Throw a pallet down, but stand on the "wrong" side of the pallet. Extendable too.

Yeah i see the point. But no, it's definitly because Nurse and Spirit are good. Hell even Billy would extinct. The survivors would control the killers completely and after a short amount of time we would see Leatherface and Wraith all the time, because killers actually want to play the game, even when they get rekt.

You don't want to make your profile private? That's your own problem i guess. You got the tools.

I'm a nurse main at red ranks. Like 70% of my games i would've definitly lost with other killers. Play base nurse for a while and say she's easy again.

Thank you for explaining how to juke bad nurses. Literally every good nurse has seen every possible 'juke' you can do, and it doesn't work against actual good nurses.

If you truly think you would be losing 70 percent of your nurse games if you were a different killer, that points to something different than you think it does...

Unfortunately the ranking system isn't good at all. My friend is not a good killer. He falls for the "double back when you lose LOS!" trick you think works. It works on him because he isn't very good. But he is a red rank killer, and he plays nurse, so he wins his fair share of games.

  • Without Iron Will a good spirit will easily shred through your team. I always have Iron Will equiped, which makes facing spirit bearable and possible, so I won't comment on spirit, but yes, playing as nurse is basically playing a single player game when you are a good enough nurse. People who still deny that just aren't good enough at nurse to realize her potential.

I don't think allowing survivors to see the killer and then dodge is the right choice, though. We'll see if the devs do the right thing and nerf nurse to a decent state, because that's what needs to happen.

    @FriendlyGuy said:

Some survivors can't deal with nurse. I'm a nurse main at red ranks. In my experience you have to play a killer to learn how to deal with it as survivor. That's why i'm very good at juking a nurse. But i get rekt by spirit. :)

All competent survivors are good at juking average/not that great nurses. I can juke nurses like that until the gates open.

My point is that most of the time I can't even reach a Loop or vault.

Not all the time but there's times when I just used SB and Hillbilly got behind me whilst holding down his charge attack in less than 3s.

I'll keep in mind what you said of course but idk I guess I'm just so tired of fighting him higher ranks and starting to see how imbalance his running speed is when holding down charge.

This sounds like a positioning problem, not a Hillbilly problem. If you are facing Hillbilly your positioning and knowledge of where loops/pallets/windows are is super important.

  • Is it really so ridiculous?

I'm at 2000 hours now. If I didn't think I had a chance to win every match I probably wouldn't play killer.

From what I've seen, tru3talent is the main streamer saying these things, all the while 4k'ing most of his games while playing nice.

  • @Blueberry said:

This is a statement by someone who doesn't actually play killer at rank 1 to understand what we are talking about. When you play killer at rank 1 for a while you will understand.

Been playing for close to 2 years. Rank 1 killer and survivor every month, within a couple days of rank reset if I play enough at the beginning of rank reset. Never fall down to rank 3 if I'm actually trying (not meme'ing).

Sorry, but if you actually deserve to be a rank 1 killer, you wouldn't feel like you are getting bullied in any game. If the survivors have time to bully you, you are doing something wrong.

It would be nice if ranking was a better indicator of player skill, because there are so many killer players who think they are better than they are. Don't get me wrong, there are even more survivors like that, but there is much more whining from the killer side (on this forum).

  • You're misremembering.

  • Ruin is used so often because it is the most consistent early game slow-down perk. The first chase is often the most important, and if you, for whatever reason, have a long first chase, ruin allows you the extra time to hook someone before the gens start popping.

Ruin isn't necessary in every game. Sometimes you pop off early and snowball hard. Sometimes you just have a good game. But, in other games you have a rough start and it lets you make a comeback. It's hard to play consistently well as killer every game. Ruin gives you safety time.

Against really good survivors you need every extra second you can get, and ruin gives that. Only nurse absolutely never needs ruin because she is broken, but good players already know that.

    This is just outright offensive.

I too was decimating teams at red ranks with Old Freddy. Absolutely NO ONE could bring the game to a crawl like old Freddy could, AND WITHOUT RUIN no less.

    The best part?

Making survivors do what they thought was the smart thing to do: regress their own generator progress.

If you knew how to properly manage the survivors, and regularly keep at least 3 asleep if not all of them at all times, it then it didn’t matter how long chases took and survivors will have eventually used up all pallets before even the third gen was done.

This whole “original Freddy was the worst killer” was a complete fairy tale. The only reason this fallacy existed is because of a) bandwagoning and b) survivors coming across Freddy so infrequently, and of those Freddy’s so few knew how to be devastating with him.

I’ve had my fair share of countless matches in purple and red ranks with old Freddy where I was able to stall the game and prevent repairs for well over 15 to 20 minutes, ending in 4ks with ZERO gens repaired.

High ranked sweaty Survivors had 20 minutes and could STILL not finish one repair.

That’s a testament to how powerful old Freddy was In the right hands.

Exactly. People who thought old Freddy was F-tier simply didn't know how to play as him, or never played against a good Freddy. He was legit one of the most oppressive killers to go against, super deadly if the player knew how to use him.

  • @Blueberry said:

If you want less Spirit/Nurse advocate for the lower tier killers to get buffs.

Survivors bully the weak killers and then wonder why all they get is Nurse/Spirit.

Many killers play Spirit/Nurse because she's one of the few actual viable killers, not just because they want to.

If you are getting bullied as killer at any rank, that's on you (yes, even as a lower tier killer). Once I learned how to play killer well I never, not even once, felt like I was being bullied, or that I couldn't have won the game (no matter which killer I was using). The only thing that pushes some games out of reach are the terrible maps. Getting huntress on haddonfield is a death sentence. Yet, if I get the same survivors on a different map I will probably win.

People who aren't as good as they think they are just want to perform well against players better than them, and nurse/spirit allows that. That's why you see so many nurses and spirits.

Unfortunately nurse is getting a nerf now. I hope they don't touch spirit

Imagine thinking a nurse nerf is a bad thing..

  • Most: Nurses who haven't reached her potential.

Billy, as long as my teammates are semi-competent (there always seems to be at least one potato)

Huntress (she is my main so I know what to do against her)

Least: A good nurse - no counterplay isn't fun.

Ghostface - his power still seems pretty buggy.

Hag - Her power is not fun to play against in any way. She snowballs off of camping (with her traps), and it's just super boring. I've never had a fun hag game.

Prayer bead spirit, iri huntress - these games make me wish I was a player who d/c'd

  • Prayer beads needs to be changed. Sensible people agree with that.

Normal spirit...there is a reason why she is always one tier below nurse. On some maps like blood lodge, yeah, Spirit is kind of broken, but other maps with more cover and LOS blockers make it not impossible to avoid her.

One caveat though..if you aren't using Iron Will against a good spirit...you just lose. That's a bit troubling.

Against a good nurse it doesn't matter what perk you use, what addon, nothing matters. The nurse nerf can't come soon enough.

Against a good spirit you still have options. The best spirit players say Iron Will makes tracking quite difficult. The difference is quite noticeable. Spirit is definitely on the very, very strong side. But, I really fear the dev team touching her. Maybe giving a small indicator that she is using her power, so only if the survivor is really paying attention will he/she notice? I'm not sure. I really like her concept and style and power. It does feel quite easy when I play spirit though. I'm conflicted.

Ultimately, I've never faced a spirit and at the end of the game thought 'there was no possible way we could have won'. There is only one killer that makes me feel that way.

  • So what you're saying is you are a fairly new player (never hit rank 1 killer?) who is struggling to play against better players, yet you are able to play spirit and still get the 4k. Hmm.

I'm not saying gens don't go fast, but I am saying it is odd that killer players with less experience expect to be able to challenge and beat players with much more experience.

It is like a player new to Overwatch finding himself climbing the ranks and wondering why the games suddenly become more difficult.

  • Wow, what a fun thread this was. Thanks for bumping it.

My latest nurse experience: I haven't played as nurse in months (it's not fun winning so easily...), but I got a nurse mission so decided to give it a go.

Between 20-30 seconds into the game I have someone down. They disconnect.

I can't even remember the last time a player disconnected against me when I play all my other killers, even if it is a really fast first down.

I know that's just one example, but I'd bet money that nurse is the most disconnected-against killer. I wonder why.

  • Completely agreed with everything. So many people on this forum are stuck in their own echo chamber, saying the same wrong things again and again. Camping is not an ineffective strategy in the slightest.

It is boring to play against and boring to do, but in no way is it ineffective, even against strong players. Like you said, camping at the right time can turn a losing match into a win for the killer, and camping at the wrong time can throw the game against good survivors.

  • @FriendlyGuy said:

It's about consistency. Sure, you can win with a perkless trapper against an red ranks swf on coms when they make massive mistakes. But that won't happen frequently, no matter how skilled you are with trapper. When you are very skilled with Spirit or Nurse, the skill of survivors don't dictate the outcome alone anymore. It don't even changes the power role, it gets rid of it.

I lost against a 7k hours 2man swf with Omega Nurse because they were incredibly good at the game. I also lost against a 500 hours 2man swf with Wraith, because Wraith got no ability to keep survivors busy, no map pressure and a power that doesn't benefit him very much.

If i would follow you thoughts here the 500 hours and the 7k hours are both better than me, because all killers are on the same power level right?

My friend can hit rank 1 as killer. He can win games pretty easily. But put him against actual good survivors and he crumbles. But the thing is, he's not a very good killer. He makes so many mistakes every game, but the skill divide at rank 1 (for both survivors and killers) is huge.

You put me and a newbie rank 1 survivor side by side and it won't even be close, how big a skill divide is.

My point is - you lost as omega blink nurse, the most op thing in the game. If you are both good with nurse and played well, you would have won that game. Period. If you are not good with nurse, why do you think you should be able to beat players better than you? If you didn't play well, why do you think you should be able to beat players who played better than you?

And what does time played matter? The friend I mentioned above has 2k hours in the game. My other friend has more hours than that in Overwatch, and he is perpetually silver. For all I know, that 2-man team against Wraith is better than you - someone who thinks you should win because you have played for more hours..

  • I actually really like this idea. I think I would really enjoy getting a 4k in literally every trial when I play killer!

  • @Mochan said:

There are tons of decent SWF groups that get destroyed by killers other than Nurse or Spirit, and there's tons of proof on YouTube and Twitch of Streamers who utterly demolish SWF group game after game live. I have even seen killers do it perkless. And by the same token there are tons of solo survivors that destroy Nurse and Spirit.

This tired argument needs to end.

The game is not stacked against killers or survivors.

It's all about whether you are more skilled and outplay your opponent.

But that would mean all the killers on here who are getting Gen rushed aren't as good as they think...that's not possible! Everyone on here is a pro killer!!!!

Ah yes, you lose cuz survivors were afk. My favorite mechanic of DBD. I didn't bring trash perks that the community covets despite them being medicore at best cuz if everyone didn't dryhump the meta, they might lose, gasp. I mean, they still lose, but who cares right? The game was slowed a wee bit so it's god tier right?

If the screenshots and videos don't say anything then move on. You refuse to listen, you constantly try to act superior and I'm honestly just done trying to convince you otherwise. I know how to play the game, you can't read, bye. You enjoy running Ruin every game and I'll keep 4king at red ranks and ignoring the meta people who think Ruin is a requirement instead of acknowledging a broken game.

Yes, you lose cuz survivors played semi-well. Real great logic. I'm done being nice, I'm sorry, I don't care anymore. You're just trying to be contrarian and you're bringing up absolutely ridiculous scenarios. Go watch Marth, the tourney, Scorpionz, the top killers in the game and they will lose a few games. It happens. I'm sorry, but if you're somehow getting quad iri against "good survivors" you're just lying and your point and arguments are simply moot as well.

"You don't need nurse with ruin to play well against good survivors. I know that goes against the victim mentality so many killer mains have, but it's true."

So, you're a survivor main? Makes sense if you are honestly. Only surv mains claim to 4k and never lose a match. Sorry I don't follow the community hivemind chief, but you keep pretending the game is fine and that game was winnable. I'll be off away from lala land and trying to get the game to an actually healthy state. Killers don't have a victim mentality they're tired of BHVR and the community brushing off broken perks, mechanics, and horrible map design as skill on the survivors part.

Good killers 4k every game? Dude, seriously, the lying needs to stop. At this point you're honestly just delusional. There is no killer that 4k's every single game. Especially against optimal survivors. I don't know what to tell you, but we're done here. I ######### started the game, found a survivor, and lost 3 ######### gens. There is no "smart play" no "optimal play". You camp/tunnel and you lose. That's the play. Learn to read.

What part of "RANK RESET" didn't come through? They're not ######### purple or green, or anything. They have full perk builds and thousands of hours. Reading comprehension, try it sometime, jesus.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/311/6DN8EB1ZKXYE.jpg

I'll try saying this as simply as possible because you are misunderstanding every single thing I say.

You are incredibly wrong about ruin. Especially if you decide to play the way you do. It's as simple as that. Don’t use it if you don't want to, but then don't complain about Gen times if you don't use what you are given to defend against it. If you can't appreciate the help ruin can give you EVERY game, even if it is broken quickly, I really question your understanding of this game. There is a reason ruin is so popular even against the best players.

The screen shots and videos do say something, though. They tell me that you think you are really good. Whether you actually are, though...

"Go watch Marth, the tourney, Scorpionz, the top killers in the game and they will lose a few games. It happens."

Do you honestly, truly, seriously believe that players like Marth should never lose a game? In literally every competitive game even the best players lose. Did you know that there are good survivors too? That if they play well they should have a chance to escape? Is that really that hard to comprehend? It's really, really telling of your mentality that you think it should be possible to get quad iri against 4 good survivors consistently. Why do you think you should be able to dominate like that? Do you understand what balance is?

Reading comprehension time: I never said I 4k every game. I never said I am a Survivor main (I play more killer, I want both sides to be as balanced as possible). I never said good Killers should 4k every game. I have said many times in other threads that 2k is the balance goal. All things being equal, a good killer against good survivors should get a 2k, if they both play well. There should be few 4ks and few 0ks. More 1ks and 3ks, and in a balanced game 2ks should be the most common. EVERY good killer against 4 good survivors has the potential to get AT LEAST that 2k in the current state of the game.

Again, one last time: I don't 4k every game. I don't escape every game. And I shouldn't be able to do either. But, I play both roles at the highest level, and I understand that the game is as balanced as it has ever been. Even with that terrible start you had in your legion game, and those 'interesting' perk choices, and your lack of addons, and your decision to play 'fair' in a game where the survivors were going hard on you, you still had the potential to come out of that game with AT LEAST a tie. Good Killers ARE able to do that.

I seriously hope that the devs don't listen to this sort of complaining. If something like a second objective is added, and nothing else is changed, I will start to 4k every game as killer (again, I feel I must repeat that I NEVER SAID I 4K EVERY GAME). Solo survivor especially wouldn't be worth playing.

The one change that DOES need to happen is a scaling down of the many terrible maps in the game. That will be a huge buff to all killers, and hey, you never know, that sort of change might have allowed you to 4k in that game despite not having the best perks, not using addons, not using your power, not having a good early game. Amazing!

  • @Caretaker said:

Y'all have the worst reading comprehension I have ever seen in my life, and are so delusional that I'm not sure how to respond to the recent posts cuz you're all completely wrong. Also those quad iris for Freddy/Legion are pre-nerf/changes.

That demo game was addonless with Ci/Surge/MYC 1, and I got like no use out of 2 of those perks. I also have 1 achieve left before I'm 100%, again. "You clearly just don't know how to play the game."

Yup, you caught me. Trash, I just faked all these screenshots and games for the past 2-3 years. All of you parroting the same bullshit totally means you're correct yea? Also, Mochan you're so entitled and clearly biased towards survivor that I will always disregard what you have to say.

You get stuck at purple somehow with these killers being SO strong and good, while I lose a match or two due to poor map design/spawns/decisions and still burn through to rank 1. With my "suboptimal builds, and poor skills". I'm only 12 cuz I didn't play due to WoW classic, reset, and having a job.I could easily hit rank 1 tonight, or in a few days if I decided to sit down and play more than a daily or two.

None of you have listened at all. I showed you video proof of why this game is an utter mess. I explained in DETAIL how I could not have won that match writing out every scenario and why I'd still have lost. It's not a matter of skill at this point, or my build. Nothing would've saved those gens, save maybe CI, and even then why should I be forced to run specific perks to have a chance to play, or stop poor game design? That's assuming if CI worked, they weren't stupid. They knew how to spread out, and do gens effectively, they also dipped to gain distance as you should.

I hard tunneled the first Claud? That's tunneling? Who hurt you? Seriously what? "HE CHASED A SURVIVOR HE FOUND! TUNNELER!" If I'd left after not finding her she'd have just done the gen, and the other gens would've been at 70-80%. How is it that so many people play easy mode for this long but still somehow think surviving and afking on a gen is hard? If you get chased you just run to a pallet. You don't even need to loop.

The fact you all covet Ruin is hilarious, and there's a reason I dropped it a year or so ago. If you can play without Ruin and keep pressure, you'll do better when you lose your totem immediately. "Oh no, they wasted 14-20s blowing a totem while 2 other people worked on gens." How helpful. Ruin only works on bad players, sorry to break it to anyone who had to hear that.

I don't need advice, I literally got home and quad iri'd on near perkless, addonless, Demo. Someone that most people seem to be saying isn't exactly top tier. I've lost two survivor games and that was due to a hard tunneling Legion that just camped the hook, and I wanted to get unhooks for my daily. Same as the second loss. Found hatch, wanted to unhook for daily, went down and teammates died. Survivor isn't hard, there are just a lot of bad players. When survivors make mistakes, you get snowball. That simple.

Real red rank killers have to try hard NOT to double pip against purple and green rank survivors. Most red killers can secure victory in 1 or 2 minutes against survivors at those ranks. A true red rank killer doesn't need to use perks or addons until maybe high purple or red. One month I did a perkless, addonless run to rank 1. Sooooo, all your pictures are pretty, but that's about it.

And I notice that the double pip bar on almost all of your pictures is in the pre-patch location. Nice use of old pictures! Literally every killer who is half-way decent could have a collection of screen shots like that...if I played long enough yesterday alone I could too...

Look, dude, I get the frustration. Playing killer is MUCH more stressful and frustrating than survivor. If you don't play well, if you don't prepare, if you don't make good choices, you can easily be overhwlemed. But that's how it NEEDS TO BE if the game wants to have any semblance of balance. Why should YOU, a killer who doesn't play optimally, be able to do well against survivors who are playing optimally. It literally makes 0 sense.

Good Killers make games longer by applying pressure, playing smart, and playing well. In that game you did none of those things and you got punished hard. You seem to think you shouldn't have been punished as hard as you were, but it seems about right to me. You don't need nurse with ruin to play well against good survivors. I know that goes against the victim mentality so many killer mains have, but it's true.

Your 2 biggest problems in that game were you did not play prepare for the game, and you did not play smart. That's enough to lose you a game. You want more time in a game when you play like that/play nice/don't play optimally? Too bad. Actual good Killers will take advantage of that extra time and 4k every game.

  • Agree with everything except demogorgon. I don’t know if he is A or B yet, but he has good map presence, a strong distance closer, and when people get better with him I think he'll earn a higher spot.

  • Dead hard is definitely the best exhaustion perk. Useful in so many situations.

I'm generalizing a little, but all the best survivors I go against use dead hard. Sprint burst users are usually the worst players (in my experience). It is pretty obnoxious to go against 4 players using sprint burst though.

  • @Caretaker said:

I know how to play killer, again. I don't know what else to say. Congrats you never get coordinated squads?

If winnable is getting a kill, sure you can possibly win, but there are plenty of games that are unwinnable. If survivors aren't complete potatoes and actually try they will leave. I highly doubt you've won every single match, or never had a 4k escape. So yea, you can't win every game, and Ill fight you on that. I've seen some of the top players get utterly destroyed and that's with them running Ruin, and the usual slowdown perks.

Also, the Wraith was decent, and he did have time, you just underestimate how little time you have in a game and how fast gens go. The totems were super close, and every survivor has 2 hooks before death. He cycled through hooks, never found or chased me, the other survivors obviously ran him a bit before going down. There was a chain of downs near the end, but he pushed us out, the last survivor not hooked saved, ran for the exit and last guy got hatch.

The only way he might've done better was to just hard tunnel people off the hooks, or camp. Which I assume he didn't want to, cuz that's just boring for both parties.

I just can't take you seriously if you say you win every match, which is what that sounds like.

I never say I win every match? I'm simply saying that if I play well enough in a trial I always have the potential to win. That potential is never not there. I have never looked back at a loss and thought "yep, nothing I could have done differently".

I get outplayed. I make mistakes. I get frustrated. But I never lose a game before the game has even begun.

I know how much time I have as killer. It ain't much, but it's more than enough to kill a team of survivors when they get rid of all the totems. Of that I'm sure.

  • Bamboozle is such a strong perk. Let's you end obnoxious loops after the first vault. Taking bamboozle on an m1 killer is never a mistake. You will get use out of it in probably every map you play.

I don't EXPECT to win. I TRY to win. That game was at rank 13. Not red ranks, rank 13, and my gens got rushed that fast. I had no control over the game, and as the devs put it, "It is the killer's trial." Yet I had no power to win that match. I don't like using addons, cuz I like playing just the base killer. Rarely I'll slap some on to screw around or test something to see how it works, but otherwise I like to play base, only perks.

But against a survivor like you, that means Ruin isn't doing anything. It just stops skill checks extra progression assuming you hit a great, which is what? 2%? Now imagine all 4 hitting greats, or 3 more realistically. If Ruin doesn't blow immediately.

I had a game earlier. Wraith had Ruin, and a few stall perks. He was bouncing around hooking everyone. Using Small Game I found Ruin super late. Once Ruin popped I just did the gens, and we all got out. There was nothing he could do. Didn't have NOED, and I popped the totems. He was keeping up pressure, but I pressured harder by staying safe, and just focusing gens. I wasted so much time and he was pinging ponging hooks, but even screwing around I had time to do 5 totems, and 5 gens before he could kill anyone. Even basement hooking and putting down pressure.

I had a game against a Plague where I let someone almost hit stage 2 to get a gen done, still had time to run out and grab her. Only reason I died was a stupid play to finish a daily, and teammates that healed immediately after getting sick. I could've played immersed, I found the hatch, it was a free win for me even though I only had Mettle. I was safe that entire game. Even on Thompson which has a lot of open area for Plague to work with, especially with Corrupt.

Good survivors will not let you play the game. Unless you can swing some pressure through altruism, or they make some really stupid plays, or get cocky, they're getting out. Playing against potatoes isn't a good judge of how powerful a killer is or how good they are as a player. If I see the killer patrol, I just do gens. That's 3 minutes, I can do at minimum 2 gens while they struggle/my team tries to unhook. They probably will unhook too, which means I can afk on another gen while they go down. There's a reason I really enjoy running No Mither in my main build.

Can't speak for being at rank 13, but once I learned how to play killer effectively I have never once thought that a game was beyond my control from the very beginning of the game. After I've made several mistakes? Sure, games can spiral out of your control pretty quickly. But no game is unwinnable as killer. Sorry.

As for your examples..the Wraith game..if he was as good as you thought, hooking people as fast as you thought he was, then you wouldn't have had time to do everything you said you did.

Playing optimally to me, how I like to have fun is cycling hooks. 2 hooks each before I kill anyone, only kill if I need the pressure. Don't tunnel, don't camp, unless end-game/necessary. I want the survivors to feel like they have a chance to play, cuz I sure as hell don't like it when I don't get to play either. It's infuriating for both sides, so I try to avoid being that killer. I want people to get points, and I want to get as close to 32k as possible.

The problem is we don't get advantages. The only advantage we have is if they act overly altruistic? Maybe a BBQ proc for a hint of where to go? You act like 80s is a lot of time. It's really not. I went to a gen, saw it was worked on, kicked it and knew a surv was near. Even if I had left I'd have lost those 3 gens, possibly a 4th cuz now Claud is safe to work on that gen.

Guess what, played Demo on Thompson House. 4k quad iri with MYC/CI/Surge 1, no addons. I got very little if no use out of CI/Surge. Altruism and cycling hooks won me that match, simply put they made a lot of mistakes. I lost 2 gens SUPER fast too and that was after 3 successful chases that were done very quickly. It's not hard to get to rank 1, I'm sorry.

I didn't underestimate anything, the game is just a broken mess. I don't know what to tell you? That game was an insta-loss. I had no chance of winning. You're lying if you think I could've done anything different. I've explained the time needed, the different choices I could've made. It points to me losing every time. Great you guys are optimistic, but it's not realistic.

I do agree on maps. They are the biggest source of imbalance in the game atm.

Also before anyone says it again. I don't want free wins, or easy games. I want to actually be able to play and not ruin someone's game cuz I need pressure. I don't think that's asking for much.

Also, I'm about to 100% the game for like the 5th time? I've quad iri'd literally everything in the game as well. Survivor+all killers including Demo. I'm just missing hatch closing, 25 left and I'm back to 100%.

I also like playing that way - getting 12 hooks by the end of the game, squeezing every bloodpoint out of the survivors. But doing that against survivors who know how to play - do gens and get out - simply isn't reasonable. Give them an inch, they take a mile. When I'm survivor I rush gens HARD. Why? Because if you play solo against a killer playing optimally, it's a race against the clock between how fast all the potato survivors you meet in solo can be knocked down, and how well the killer is playing. And if that killer decides he wants to patrol his hook, and intercept survivors going for the save? Suddenly you don't have as much time as you think you do as survivor.

It's a vicious circle. As survivor I go HARD on gens. Why? Because you never know how the killer is going to play. As killer if they are only sitting on gens, you have to create your own pressure by forcing them to make a save.

At red ranks against good survivors who are doing their objective you don't have time to cycle hooks. It's admirable that you decide to not play optimally so the survivors in your games can have fun, but if I was survivor and I was against you I wouldn't go easy on you because you want to get all 12 hooks. I would call you greedy for thinking you can get away with playing like that against good survivors, and then run out the gate..

Know what I call a killer (who isn't nurse) not using ruin or addons? An easy win. I regularly hit greats. I don't go looking for ruin. I just power through it, and yet I still have ruin on all my killers. Why? Because it adds up. Every second adds up. It can mean the difference between the Gen being completed, and the killer getting there in time to do a pop goes the wheel, or defend it, etc.

I do enjoy playing addon-less from time to time when I want a challenge, but I certainly don't expect to get all 12 hooks and win every game when playing like that.

  • If that's playing optimally to you, I don't know what else to say. Do you really think you should be able to make many mistakes as the '1' in a 1v4 game, and still win against survivors who play well? I already explained everything in my previous post.

Every advantage you can get as killer will help you, and can be the difference between a 4k and a 0k. You don't want to use addons? You don't want to use "meta" perks? You use a lower tier killer? It takes you 3 gens to find and down one survivor? All those things add up, and suddenly your chances of winning are much lower. That's how it is, buddy. Don't like it? Equip addons. Equip perks that will defend against how you lost that game (hello, ruin?). Use a stronger killer next time you see those survivors. Don't think that you can win just on skill alone?

I am a rank 1 killer every month, under a week into the rank reset, every time. I can't even remember the last time I had three gens gone before my first chase was finished. But hey, I play optimally. The thing is, you severely underestimated the survivors, and got punished for it.

As for maps - yes, I agree. That is the biggest balance problem in the game right now. Fix the maps and this game will become 10x more balanced.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/699154#Comment_699154

The big thing is map size, layout, tiles, and well gen speeds and chases in general. Devs said chases should last 15s, that's why the emblems work the way they do. However, there's just no way anyone competent is getting downed that fast.

If devs wanted 15 second chases they wouldn't be changing nurse. Imagine thinking 15 second chases on average would be balanced. A good killer would win basically every game if that were the case.

You seem very much to want to be assured that there was nothing you could have done in that game. Sorry to say, but every choice you made that game ended up being the wrong one. Sometimes it happens.

If you are doing these things as killer - no addons, taking long chases, strange perks, lower tier killer - and not playing optimally, why should you win or even tie? Should you 4k against survivors who play their role well?

You are right about how bad some maps are, though!

  • @Warlock_2020 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/696404#Comment_696404

It is not about the traps. I do the same thing with Pig, Doc, Hag, Shape. You look at the gen layout as soon as you enter. Ignore the outliers at first and patrol the clusters closest together. Pick you area of the map and defend it. If the survivors are popping hens, they will likely pop the ones not in your chosen area, as long as you are pressuring it, and find themselves having to work a taller field where you can influence the tempo better.

Legion is better at this than Trapper. You can see where people are when you apply DW. If they are on a gen close enough, push them off. Don't just tunnel down the first one you see.

I only run Legion for dailies, so I'm not as good with him as I am with others, yet 4k with 3 gens left is the norm when I do run him. (Purple and red)

    Exactly this.

If you let survivors drag you all over the map, and they know how to be chased well, then you are going to have a hard time.

I love killers that get tunnel vision on me and chase me to areas of the map they shouldn't be going to. I always make sure to know which gens need to be done, which part of the map they are, etc, when I'm killer and survivor. That is just as important as winning chases.

So many people cite tru3 talent's videos when they want to say 'omg Gen rush is so bad!' and every time I see him being led all over the place by survivors, hardly ever concerning himself with the state of his Gen layout.

People love to say that survivors hold the reigns in this game, and while that can be true to an extent, killers aren't helpless, like they are being portrayed as. A good killer who understands how to pressure Gens, and push survivors where he wants them to be, is a scary killer.

As for the OP...the first chase is the most important chase in almost every game. If you let 3 gens go by during that first chase, that's on you. If you can't down that first survivor quickly, the game can and will spiral out of your control. And playing with no addons...? Killers are supposed to use addons every game. Only nurse can get away with doing that against good survivors.

Basically, what I'm saying is that had another player been playing killer in your game, the result could have been different. No game is unwinnable at the beginning. Every mistake a killer makes can lead to your defeat, and that game you played certainly wasn't perfect.

And by mistake I don't mean missing a swing or rounding a loop too slow. A mistake is also choosing the wrong direction to go at the beginning. The hard truth is, the killer role is much more punishing - as it should be.

  • Huntress is way too low. A good huntress is SCARY. Plague is too low. Trapper is a tier too high. He definitely isn't a bad killer, but he also isn't better or equal to current Freddy. And yes, I've played against Trappers who know how to Trap.

Wraith at the bottom? Some of his addons make him a solid killer.

The fact that huntress is below doctor on this list hurts my soul a little bit. She has the potential (if played well) to be better than every m1 killer (although Freddy is certainly up there with her, and more consistent because of how bad some maps are). But huntress in C is just... No. Apart from the few worst maps (which need to be rehauled), a really good huntress will perform better than any other m1 killer. I know good huntresses aren't very common, but wow you are sleeping on her big time.

  • Prayer beads definitely needs to be changed. Really un-fun to go against. I'm not going to bring one perk (spine chill) to counter one addon from one killer.

  • Rank 1 killer/rank 1 survivor every month here.

The vast majority of my games at rank 1 are 3k's or 4k's. One mistake by the survivor team (running in the direction a Gen was being worked on, taking a wrong turn, even hesitating for a split second) can turn the game into a snowball. The only time I ever feel like I couldn't have gotten at least two kills (a tie, according to the devs) is if I get haddonfield and get into a long first chase. But that speaks more to how bad some maps are, and not killers being too weak.

When I play survivor, though, the range in skill levels of rank 1 killers is astounding. A GOOD killer will get at least 2 kills if they are skilled and play well. A bad killer at rank 1 won't. That's not to say if a red rank killer gets 0 kills in a game that they are bad. It is VERY easy to lose a game as killer. But that's how it should be..it is 1v4, if the 1 role isn't pressured, it will make it even easier for those who play killer well and optimally. It is already like that for nurse players...

Yes, if you don't play well, don't end chases quickly, get tunnel-vision, get out mind-gamed, take slow turns around corners, don't cut-off survivors to where you know they want to go, don't have knowledge of which gens are being worked on and which chases you can and cannot take, then yeah, Gen speeds must seem pretty fast.

I love watching tru3, but seeing him complain while also winning the match is a little ridiculous. And, sorry to say, but he isn't the be-all end-all of killers. He is an above average red rank killer. Yet he 4k's most of his games, even against SWF.

The fact of the matter is, being efficient and optimal at survivor doesn't take as long as becoming efficient and optimal at killer. If you don't know how to do all the things I mentioned above as a red rank killer, you will get stomped HARD by survivors who you think aren't as good as you. But the thing is, they are better at survivor than you are at killer. And that's why they do gens fast and escape.

I think the balance is pretty darned good right now, considering this is a 4v1 game, which is pretty darn difficult to balance. After a big map rehaul and nurse nerf, we can see how things are.

  • @Jago said:

You guys are talking about nurse like everyone that plays her is a top Rank 1 streamer.

Calm down. Nurse base is fine.

Because when you are always at rank 1, that's the level of nurse you always meet. It gets super tiring.

  • @Markness said:

They should delete her and then fix the maps for once and for all so all the other killers are viable. Sick and tired of playing her over and over again. Small brain nurse players will defend her to the very end though even though she breaks the game. She should never ever had been in the game if the main defense for survivors is pallets and windows (she ignores both).

Partially agree. While the thought of never hearing that screech at the beginning of most red rank matches is alluring, deleting her would be overkill. She has a really cool concept for a killer. She is fun to play against when the nurse is just decent (hasn't learned to dominate), so she does have potential to be a really fun killer to go against. It's just that at base she is just so strong, and her addons push her way past the limit of balance. And almost every good killer perk synergizes so well with her. If a perk is good for another killer, there is a very good chance it is amazing for her.

Insane mobility, Insane chase, Insane synergy with perks and addons. Something has got to give.

  • It really is too bad so many nurse mains are so vocal defending their busted killer. I am pretty certain that if nurse was a little easier to get good with, that she would have been fixed long ago. And that's pretty sad..because how much time it takes to get good with her really shouldn't affect balance decisions.

And the thing is, the only nurse mains who are actually defending nurse are ones who haven't gotten good enough with her yet, so they don't know her true potential.

The guy in this thread..talking about console nurse and claiming PC survivors just don't know how to play well against nurse..like, that's quite a bit of mental gymnastics..

  • This is assuming dead hard only corrects mistakes, which absolutely is not the case. Is it a mistake when a nurse blinks on top of you and dead hard is the only thing that can give you more time? Is it a mistake when a huntress has a clear shot at you? No, it is not possible to always be out of shot range. Dead hard doesn't correct any mistake there when you use it.

Or when you do several loops and want to stay at the loop because you don’t want to waste pallets (to help your team), so you dead hard past the pallet and keep running the loop when they swing (instead of dropping it). How is that a mistake at all?

How about if you get unhooked in a dead zone (nothing to run to) and you need a little more distance. Do you think that because you have been hooked once you should just die there?

Sure, dead hard is helpful to correct mistakes, but it is also used by good survivors to dictate how a chase will go, and that's why I use it. It doesn't teach bad habits unless you don't know how and when to use it.

When I play killer I love going against survivors who don't know how to use dead hard well. They use it like you say - as a second chance perk, only to correct mistakes. I don't like facing survivors who use dead hard with skill, proactively. They use it to take power back in the chase.

It is fine if you don't want to use dead hard. Other exhaustion perks are also good, but your reasons for not using it could use some more thought.

  • @ABannedCat said:

Red ranks is why I became Nurse-main. Makes the game somewhat balanced.

Personally I like having to work for my 4k's so I don't play nurse anymore. Easy mode just gets to be too boring.

  • Frustrating? Sure, it can be. I find playing well as survivor and still dying because my teammates all went down in 10 seconds to be just as, if not more frustrating.

There have been many times I've died as survivor knowing there was nothing I could have done better. That's frustrating. Understandable, because it is 4v1, but frustrating nonetheless.

As killer if I have a game where there is nothing I could have done better, I get results.

Sure, you'll play against many good survivors at high ranks who are arrogant and do bm, etc, but it is so satisfying putting them in their place.

  • Get that map as huntress and you might as well just pray. It is not fun at all.

  • @MiniPixels said:

Again, like I said earlier in this thread, there are only so many people on the dev team, and only so many of them work on killer reworks, and add-on changes, the devs will most likely go in order from killers that have been waiting for changes the longest, to the newer ones. Don't expect a Legion update for a little while, they will get to it when they can.

Agreed. Nurse first, then the weaker killers.

    @Talmeer

Do you even remember old legion? I can't even count how many times I went down after just one hit. I don't like players who disconnect, but I don't blame them even a little bit when it was against a legion like that.

If you don't play killer well you will not catch me. You will chase me for 5 generators and I will run out the gates. The better player wins. With legion that was not the case. Even a player like you, with no understanding of good balance, could down a player like me. Every down legion got was guaranteed. Survivor skill meant nothing.

You are right... We are even not be able to take that as a serious argument, that a person has no counterplay after it got hitten by a hatchet from the huntress... (but we should take it better as a serious argument if we look what the nerf cryers have made with the Legion).

Still it was a argument of a nerf cryer.

The most people know that they have to avoid the hatchets, or the chainsaws as soon as the abilitie for it got activated, because the counterplay starts then and not after billy had ram a chainsaw into your back.

But the same was with the default Legion, aka a Legion without any addons attached. I know a lot of people that have play on this way, because for many people I at least know, the addons were to strong and have taken out the fun.

The fun for a player like me was, to do something viable in a short amount of time. Not to do the same in a feeled hour (I know it was not a hour, but feeled...), thanks to addons you have also mentioned.

You and me, we are pretty close in the way we see the Legion, I guess, but nobody should forget imo the weakness of the pure base Legion abilities.

You just seem not really to have made much experience with the Legion without the mentioned addons from you.

What the ptb matters, so I didn't know much about that time.

I have come shortly after the Legion ptb to dbd. I was "fixed on" (if we like to say so), by a YouTuber and his friends that I like to watch (they playing all kinds of games, not just dbd), but I still was not sure if I should buy the game, but then I had saw a Legion advertisment video and I had know... "This killer you would like to play, no matter if he is op, or if he is the most weaken character in the game" and well... Thats my story I have come to dbd.

But you can believe me that I had met survivors that were happy with the Legion in the days back than. They had thank me for the challenging games. I had even start to make screenshots from those chats, so that I can prove it (because I know how the internet is thinking - aka. screenshots or it didn't happen).

    @Omans

We will never understand each other. You seem to be on your hate train and what ever a Legion main says to you (aka. the person that knows the Legion most because they have spent the most time with it) you just play it down.

I have also see a ton of bad survivors in "the Legion is op lololol videos" and have sometimes wish that I encounter such stup... rhm... I mean different playing survivors, but in some videos its not even bad if someone shows not his full potential, because so we can see everything better.

Would you be able to learn better from a video where everyone do his thing in a matter of secounds, or would you be able to learn better from a video were the people act a bit slower, so that you can understand what happened better?

I would definitely learn better from the last type of video.

Also it is NOT healthy for the game when Legion mains left the game a whole type of playerbranch don't feel connected anymore to the game.

You can of course fly around with your opinion, but then you have to live with it, that Legion mains and also a part of the survivors will correct you.

    @NuclearBurrito

You are right and I would be happy if a addon like Franks Mixtape had never seen the daylight. Sadly it had and I think that this addon and some others have hurt the Legion more (indirectly) as every nerf cryer could possible do.

But don't forgett that little pallet game, that you only needed to do against the old Legion. Also even I had play still with a variety of killers, I can't see much difference between the "skills" for other killers and the pre patch Legion, as long as we talk from the Legion without addons. With addons it was ridiculous.

Legion mains left the game because unfair mechanics were removed? Oh no! What a pity!! I would have the same reaction if moris and insta-heals were removed and people left because of that - good riddance.

I understand why the devs job is so hard now...people with no concept of fair play are so outspoken about keeping their broken, unbalanced toys intact.

These 'counters' to old legion you talk about are absurd. A huntress hatchet can be dodged. It can be avoided with strong positioning and dodging. It feels fair to be hit by a hatchet. The only complaints I've ever seen about huntress have been one-hit hatchets (understandable complaint), and hit box size. Old legion (if the killer had a brain) was undodge-able. And after you got hit once the chase was over. So, in your mind, something that can't be dodged and after being hit once you will be downed, was fair? And for some reason you think all the actual good players were misinformed when they told you legion was absolutely terrible for the health of the game?

Addons or no addons, the result was the same against a legion who wanted to down you. There was nothing you could do to outplay the legion if he so desired. No matter what you say, rational people understand that sort of gameplay is unhealthy for the game. Period.

Well if it was so, can you explain why some people have do counterplay and while we already question things... Why the Legion was not number 1 in the kill rate statistic?

It is ok, if you were not able to do it. Not everyone was good enough for it, like not everyone is able to loop, or some people always missing a skill check by a gen, but that doesn't mean, that those things are not possible.

And if you like to have videos that proves it... They are on YouTube. Those videos would have been also impossible to made, if there would have been no counterplay.

Don't blame the game because you were not able to do it and also don't be ashamed by it. Not everyone can be good in everything.

Thats just how it is. We all have our weaknesses.

Do you know what counter-play means? Does that have anything to do with kill potential? No, it doesn't. And this topic has been beaten to death. There really isn't any point talking to someone who is being deliberately obtuse.

Whatever videos you are talking about are done by terrible players - that's something I can assure you without even seeing them.

Anyone with any sense of balance and game health was very outspoken about how broken legion was, and even the devs, who are notoriously slow at fixing broken things, made that a priority, because legion was ruining games left and right.

Do you know why everyone hated legion? Because actual good survivors (yes, like me) were taken down by poor, poor legions the same as bad survivors.

Current legion is in a bad spot, but how he is now is 1000 times more healthy for the game than the old legion.

Thank you for that. I get so tired of seeing "No Counter Play" as an excuse for nerfs.

Because there was no counterplay if the legion wanted. What the guy above wrote is hogwash. Rational people wanted a legion CHANGE, not nerf.

  • I don't see why not, with an addon. I would never use it, but huntress has a bit of a learning curve, so making her more approachable to a new player seems okay.
