It's a tricky decision. Putting focus on re-coding (a "project health") or being able to release new content every 3 months?

I would find it funny. Why not.

@chieftaco you read too much into it

It just sucks seeing how salty they got. My GF has been trying to help this particular streamer lately, between setting up a merch store and regularly logging on the stream for afew minutes so this streamer gets the view count. 1 bad play on their end...results in me getting some serious flaming.
Yup, some people just can't accept that they lost because they played bad. They have to tell themselves (and others): "I only lost because the killer camped/tunneled/had a mori/used NOED/used Ruin/slugged/Mars icecream sold out/whatever."

I think its a little different due to the killer having the option of disposing of the husk and not doing so. While it sucks to look through the map for immersed survivors, its at least possible. Doing the remaining gens without teammates is impossible. Thats why I was suggesting the husk go to dying state to bleedout. At least then the survivor has a chance.
I see that you realize that the killer would not be taking the game hostage. It would just be a lost situation for the survivor.
Why is a survivor not allowed to lose? Why does a survivor always need to have another chance? Why not just blame the guy who ragequittet for the loss and move on to the next game?
-
@chieftaco Everybody has other priorities. I don't mind missing out on bp and Emblem points if that means I don't have to repair gens. You do mind. If the exit gates are powered and I haven't touched a gen, I'm happy. You aren't. Both is fine.

I WOULD post the video, because this was a twitch streamer's SWF group, so...that stuff gets saved, but... I dont wanna be witchhunting ppl and my GF actually knows this group. I called her into the room when I saw who I was facing, so she was actually stream sniping against me and telling them my position on twitch chat, lol.
No, don't tell us who it was. You are correct, we don't want witchhunts or naming & shaming here. It's enough if you tell us the story without mentioning any names. :)

Its not reasonable to expect a lone survivor to be able to DO a gen, which is why hatch exists to begin with. That last survivor, due to a forever standing husk, is 100% screwed.
Without doubt a hard situation if the survivor doesn't have a key. But a hard situation for the survivor doesn't mean that the killer is taking the game hostage.
Take a look at my former example: Let's assume a team of survivors had a very bad start. Only 2 survivors are still alive and still 4 gens left to be done. Also a hard situation for the survs, it's not reasonable to expect them to do 4 gens just between the two of them. So they hide. Is the killer who is looking for them taking the game hostage?

I didnt check if they actually HAD DS. was kinda just stunned at the stupidity for a sec, then 3 DCes. I didnt get to pick either of them up.
If they ragequitted before you had a chance to pick them up, they probably didn't have DS.
-

The hostage would be the other way around. The last survivor would have no way of looking for hatch, since theres technically a teammate. If the husk is still up, theres no bleedout to wait through, giving the killer infinite time to look for the last person.
So who are you saying is taking the game hostage? The last survivor who hides somewhere on the map without trying to do a gen? Or the killer who is searching for the survivor?
-
You played well and they played bad. If an injured survivor runs down the basement to unhook another player without BT and DS, then you can't just expect this to go well.
-
When there are two survivors alive and both just hide and wait for the other person to die, this is kind of hostage-taking. The killer has no indication to find them if they refuse to work on a gen.
When a killer actively looks for a survivor, how is that taking the game hostage from the killer?
The husk aura should be revealed to the killer of course, so he can decide what to do with it. The killer having to look for the husk would be a pointless mechanic.

Because gen rushing is even something that exist? As a killer main, I've not really experienced this. When suriviors do gens quickly, its because im playing bad, or not really trying. Lets be honest, I'm on one in the first 10 seconds of every game, and I get to many BS hits I cant keep count of them. I think they should probably stop nerfing the other side, and let the game become balanced again. I remember when getting to rank 1 killer ment anything at all. Now I can almost AFK it.
You can't tell me that you play at rank 1 and don't have some matches where the gens just fly by.
-
That's just the current state of the game. Playing killer becomes very hard and stressful when you reach a certain rank, and only a few killers and perks are viable.
Playing survivor is chill, you only shake your head at some random teammates when you play solo, but that's it.
If playing killer at the higher ranks frustrates you, don't do it. You can play fun builds at mid ranks. (And since fun builds are weak, you won't climb the ranks.)

Given they made it so you can't depip below rank 15 and a lot of people play only a handful of matches each reset (barely enough to get to like rank 9-10) they get reset back to 15 and can't go any lower. It's fairly common
There's also people who purposefully derank "for better matchmaking" aka "to bully lower ranks" (which is honestly probably a big part of the reason the rank system spazzes out so much)
It could be both. Unfortunately, I see the category "bully" way too often.
-
@chieftaco In the end, the killer decides who is getting chased. Teammates can definitly jump in and try to take the killer away from the guy who is getting chased, but the killer has the last word.
However, doing gens is boring. I don't mind if others do gens while I get chased by the killer. I don't feel like I got robbed of gen points. I play because I want to have fun, not because I want to climb ranks for which I don't get any kind of reward. (This might change if rank rewards got introduced.)

Here's the discussion it comes from, https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/76836/can-yall-like-stop-putting-totems-right-next-to-gens-and-in-open-areas , such a stupid excuse to hide bad totem spawn design.
I would have prefered it if they had said something like "we know a lot of totems spawns are far from ideal and we want to work on it in the future, but currently we have more urgent matters to take care of".
-
What is this thing with "rank 15" players who have tier 3 DH, DS, BT etc. unlocked?
-
That's hag's playstyle. She can't go too far away from her traps, otherwise she can't teleport. She is a tactical killer, not a chaser. You can't expect her to play like a Spirit.
-
I don't really disagree, but are you up-to-date with how the Emblems work? You know that you get points for gens + totems being done while you get chased?
(Also, pipping for survivors is currently too easy. It was too difficult for a short while, but the devs made it easier and easier again so that we find ourselves in a situation where everybody who plays a lot is red rank. I see red rank survivors who run in a straight line from a killer, without any attempt at looping/juking, going down within 10 seconds.)

Top tier means top 3 usually. I know for a fact that she puts Spirit and Hag over Huntress, but I don't know if she does the same with Freddy, because I didn't heard her opinion about him.
I don't know about that either (personally I think Huntress is stronger than Freddy). However, there is a wide agreement that the top 4 are Nurse, Spirit, Billy, Hag.

Alright i'm gonna clear the air here because I see a ton of toxicness in these replies based on assumptions (partly my fault for not clarifying). Here's how the match went down:
Match starts, Nurse teleports and see's one of the Rank 15 survivors running around. Downs him in seconds and hooks him. I was near him so I stayed for the hook rush. I pick him up and heal him with We'll Make It. 25 seconds later the next guy gets downed. He gets hooked while I am getting Ruin. I break ruin and go do a gen. Then shortly afterwards the second guy who got hooked is saved while the first guy who got hooked gets downed and mori'd. I am barely 25% done with the gen while this is happening. The guy who got mori'd wasn't too far from the other hooked guy so the Nurse finishes that guy as well. It's down to me and the last Rank 15. I play it cool and start breaking totems stealthily because I knew if I touched another gen I was done for because she was just searching between gens for one of us. Luckily the last Rank 15 guy gets found and hooked withing 20 seconds of the chase (no surprise there). I was close to the shack basement so I decided to hide there until he died on hook because there was no way I was going to save hi, heal him, complete the rest of the gens and open the gates. He decides to hang on the hook for the full length of the struggle state while I am hiding in the basement. After he dies, I head up and start looking for the hatch. Turns out the hatch spawned near him so he closes it immediately. I knew i was screwed so I just dc'd. I legit made no points out of that whole game and I felt like I wasted my time there. Once I dc'd I took that screenshot to my amazement and answered all my questions as to how I got such a bad team (even the nurse agreed).
According to you, two guys got mori'd, one guy died on hook and you dc'ed. The screenshot tells a slightly different story.
And yes, I can imagine how you had a friendly conversation with the Nurse in the aftergame-chat where she felt sorry for you because of your bad team, after you and your teammate just ragequittet.
Also smh at dc'ing because the killer closes the hatch.

But to have her better than Freddy, Myers, or Ghostface?
If the map is open (unlike Léry's or The Game) and not too large (unlike Red Forest), then Huntress is definitely better than Freddy & Ghostface. In relation to Myers, that's more tricky, I see them close to each other.
-
Yup, I watch her from time to time. (And I agree with you, she is absolutely amazing with Huntress.)
-
I agree that it is a problem that survivors dc in the loading screen when they see a secret killer offering (=mori).
So what's your worry? That survivors won't get punished for dc'ing in the loading screen?

Watch "Umbra" if you want to see what Huntress is capable of. She's a true god-Huntress if not even the best Huntress in the world. Her whole streams are based on Huntress.
And when she says that Huntress is not top tier, then you know that it is true.
-
Could be that they got inspired by your post. Could be that it was a coincidence.
I'm the inventor of the EGC by the way: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/46750/time-limit-for-survivors-after-one-exit-gate-is-open
Just kidding.
What I want to say: Sometimes different people have a similar idea. And if the devs sometimes take some inspiration from the community, there is nothing wrong with it. :)

@ArrowTheGreat11 said:
huntress really top 5 for you guys? Anytime I go against her at rank 1, I escape lol. I would replace Huntress with Freddy since he’s really good at gen protection
It depends on the map, a lot of them are pretty bad for her.
Also: Don't forget that players here put her on rank 5. That doesn't mean that she's that strong, that only means that she is not as weak as others. Nowadays, Huntress is only good average. If you and your teammates are good survivors, you should win against her.

I think the one that brought an escape cake is legit but the others definitely faced the right killer.
Exactly. This screenshot is a piece of art. At first glance, you only see the non-fitting matchmaking. At a second and third glance, you see the glorious details, the de-ranking OoO-DS-insta-heal-user, the ragequits - while looking at the picture, your feelings change from being annoyed at the matchmaking to pleasantly surprised that in the end, everything turned out well. Truely a masterpiece that belongs in a museum. <3

I feel sorry for the new guys, but not you.
Look at their loadout: OoO + DS + SB + insta-heal. And DH + DS + Unbreakable. These aren't new players. Especially the one with the insta-heals screams player who wants to bully newbie-killers. Very fitting that insta-heal-OoO-guy dc'ed as well. They absolutely met the right killer.
-
You dc'ed because you were playing against a Nurse with a mori?

Activatable Hexes should be very powerful, and only appear once the first stack is gained.
Third Seal and Thrill of the Hunt should become normal perks because they don't fit the Hex standard.
I disagree. I think better spawning spots would be a more suitable solution than making Devour Hope etc. only lit up when the effect takes place.
Third Seal has to remain a destroyable perk. Otherwise slugging would be insanely powerful against a team of solos. As soon as you've hit all 4 survivors, you could start slugging and there's basically no chance that the survivors would be able to pick each other up.

If its about 8 generators, NOT COMPLETING TOTAL AMOUNT OF 8 GENS, my mistake
...there are only 7 gens...
-
For me, it's about how many survivors escape through the exit gates. If 3 or 4 survivors escape through the gates, the survivors win (I usually consider it a win for everyone, also for the one person that might have died, provided that person didn't hide in a corner the entire game).
If 2 survivors escape through the gates, it's a draw.
-
@Hoodied said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/659663#Comment_659663
But with the total of 8 generators on one map, you have to roll a die for a chance to find a gen with scratch marks around it
I hope that was just a typo.
-
Can you give us a short summary/tl;dr?
-
@Groxiverde said:
Honestly I think that perk would punish killers for doing good, and it would be very frustrating. As a good killer you almost never have to respect pallets, but if you know a survivor has this perk, then you will be forced to play bad just to avoid having this perk activated. Maybe add a condition (every 2 stuns) to not make it so powerful?
This so much. A condition would still make it too powerful.
Other exhaustion perks like Sprint Burst or Lithe just give the survivors 3 seconds of Haste, but the killer doesn't suffer from a stun. If the killer would also suffer from a stun, these effects combined would be too strong.
There is a very good reason why the devs made Head On an exhaustion perk: It is not supposed to be combined with the sprint effect of an exhaustion perk, because stun + sprint is too powerful.
-
Hard camping is a bad strategy. It only works when the survivors don't focus on gens or even feed the killer. As a survivor, you know what to do.
Tunneling is a good strategy as long as the killer targets a weak survivor. It becomes a bad strategy if the killer focusses on a strong survivor who can keep him busy for a long time. What makes a survivor weak? Bad skills in a chase, no perks/no items to help in a chase, no teammates helping.
-
If players insult you in the aftergame-chat, you have to report them in-game, not here on the forums.
@justarandy I don't believe the devs think it's okay to call others "#########". Otherwise, I don't want to imagine how these forums would look like.
Edit: Okay, the filter doesn't show the word. I guess you know what I mean.
-
Queue times are more important to me than playing with/against players with a similar rank. However, I don't want to see those extreme cases like red ranks vs yellow ranks.
Matching green with purple ranks is absolutely fine, for example.

Exactly. Though those loops shouldn't exist anymore after the map reworks. Probably will make Bamboozle less of a useful perk then.
If the devs continue to rework maps in the current pattern, then we are looking at only 2 maps per year being reworked.
-
@Aven_Fallen Thanks for mentioning the video, I've watched the first 6 minutes where he talks about Bamboozle.
The first thing, where we agree on: Bamboozle is great to shut down braindead, but very strong loops. There are several badly designed maps where this perk is a great help. (And if the survivors run BL, there are even more maps where you really want to close a certain window.)
The next thing: Shack and most jungle gyms are not mindgame-able as long as the respective pallet is still up. If the killer tries to do a mindgame and successfully lands a hit, then simply because the survivor messed up. If the survivor positions himself correctly, he is safe. That changes when the pallet is destroyed. That's why you want the pallet to be gone. With forcing the survivor to run the shack/jungle gym a certain way, you also force them to drop the pallet early. Here Bamboozle can help you save time.
Bottom line: Bamboozle is nice-to-have for jungle gyms, but a really great help for badly designed buildings. It also depends on the killer, of course. No need to run Bamboozle on Trapper, for example.
-
@ad19970 I have no idea. Bamboozle's major use is to shut down braindead loops early, where you otherwise would have been forced to run around the same building 3 times without having any chance to do a mindgame.
