Devour nope

Just had 3 games in a row where my devour hope as pig spawned right in front of a generator. Ik there's things to do with totem spots and l.o.s checks but can you at least remove the totems located near Dr to a generator that's also in a jungle gym? Please?

  • "Totems are hard to find"

  • Believe me or not, devs said it's better for killers that totems can spawn near gens, yeah i know, don't laugh.

I can't find the logic in that...

  • The more spots you remove from having totems.... The easier they get to find.

Wait, when did they say that?

But at least removing the spots that garuntee they'll get found fast...

  • I don't know how exactly they actually put totems in since they can't hand place them but I'm sure the community can pick out some really good spots, like the corner edge of the map behind a tree. This whole thing about less places for totems to spawn just sounds weird you have large empty spaces with no Gens around. Suffocation pit can have totems behind trees on the edges, in the mine, in between boxes near water towers, inside cubby holes in the middle, next to garbage cans because they make the same noise etc.

But they are getting better at totem spots, Badham has some really good spots but they were made for those totems, a lot of older maps came out before totems were even a thing which is probably why the totem spawns on those maps are bad. At least that's my theory anyway, every map before the release of Hag were not made for totems so they are inherently bad for totems which sadly makes up most of the maps.

  • This is a scientifically proven fact... 99% of the time, when using more than 1 totem, Devour Hope is the first totem broken every match.

When only using Devour Hope, it has a 99% chance of picking the worst totem spawn in the map.

These are 110% accurate statistics and do not question my math to come up with these numbers.

  • They didn't say that (which is a clever way to twist words to put devs in a bad light), they said that removing spawns in proximity to gens would limit a lot the possible locations, making easy to memorize where they appear or just exclude the area around gens, restricting the area to perlustrate by a good margin.

The problem imo is not when they spawn near a gen, but when they do with no LoS breaker at all. Some totems can be very well hidden even near a gen, when placed in the right spot.

  • How are totems spawned, anyway? Are there placements preset on the map, then when the game starts, they're randomly filled? Or does it go by tile? If it goes by tile, it would make more sense why a totem spawns out in the open, when it would be behind a bush at the same location, but a different tile was used.

I think devs place potential totem spots and after a trial is filled with tiles, everything else get placed afterwards (totems, gens etc.)

  • Kind sir, have you not heard?

Useful totems spawn by objectives, useless totems spawn practically invisible

  • to top it off, survivors can hear an audio cue when near a hex totem, a faint sound of lit candles

Corner behind a tree? LOL most obvious place to check. Lots of totems spawn in those places especially on the farm maps.

Suffocation Pit is one of the easiest maps to find totems. All the spawns are easy and it's a relatively small map with an easy layout.

The maps with the hardest totems to find are Lery's and The Game.

  • I would have prefered it if they had said something like "we know a lot of totems spawns are far from ideal and we want to work on it in the future, but currently we have more urgent matters to take care of".

  • devour hope is a totem perk..

it will work best when you can play the game yet still protect the totem..

if you can not play the game and protect the totem, it will last you as long as it takes survivors to discover and break it..

it will offer you benefits if it goes unfound, or if survivors are of the type that don't break totems just in case it may be haunted ground. in the latter case, as soon as DH is exposed to survivors, they will go straight to it and break it as soon as possible, whatever the cost, because they have to. this is your chance to utilize it to down them.

any other usage of devour hope is some special use case that just might not work for you..

just because you may pair it with thrill to know when someone's working on it (if that's what you try) doesn't really help much because then you may end up guarding the wrong totem..
