What? There's a distinct difference between a good player who can run between a lot of tiles, evade the killer, and in some cases lose them, and a person who just finds the safest pallet, runs 7 laps of it, then moves to the next one.
Survivors losing a killer by running past a few walls says a lot more about the lack of skill of the killer and their inability to follow simple scratch marks and sound than it does about the skill of a survivor.

No, looping is running around the same area for a periodic time
Well since survivors are slower than killers, what other method would you suggest to gain distance or break line or sight?

Because killers are faster than survivors so that's the only way to gain distance or break line of sight. Are we suggesting maps should just be open fields?

Im not a map designer so i have no idea how. but instead of having loop and trying to waste the killer time i think the game could be more interessting if the survivor were trying to escape the killer who chase him.
I'm not trying to troll here, I promise. But what you described is looping.
-
I'm a slightly above average killer, I get 4k's as Spirit completely disproportionate to any other killer spare for my main (Freddy), and it feels like I'm trying less with her than any other killer... just sayin.
-
Don't get tormented? The entire point of the cage is to make those perks useless.
-
Sometimes survivors spawn together and get a gen done. Okay...and? Notification goes off and you were just alerted to every survivor's position.

That first one is interesting. How are you going to remove looping? "If a survivor circles any object the entity stabs them in the foot"?
-
1.) Huntress hitboxes.
2 & 3.) Remove the perks decisive strike and neod and just make them part of the base kits, so no one can complain about people using them ever again since everyone will be using them.
-
1.) Yes, I and I alone am the only person who encountered this issue. Thank you.
2.) Yeah. lol Not sure what else to say
3.) I had a game where I self cared instead of dropping a pallet... I don't even run self care. Also had more crashes this month than my entire 2+ years with the game. Floating survivors, survivors clipping through killer, perks not triggering how and when they should... it is a bit much, but you're right, maybe the broken/working mechanic ratio is more 40/60.
4.) The cakes are legit a copy-paste item. How does one mess that up and why are they trying to sell it on here and their twitter like it's a beneficial glitch?

The entire concept of items and offerings is extremely unfair as a whole. Literally every match is unfair in some manner because of one of the worst designs in a multiplayer game ever.
The game is balanced around average win rates over all; it doesn't give a **** about your person game.
Every survivor has an engineers toolbox? Oh boy too bad for you the match before that they didn't have items; so you steamrolled that match and this match you get steamrolled.
That's fun and balanced right? It's technically 50/50 so it must mean it's fair.
It is fair, there's around 30k points being used to sway that match in the survivors favor. If the killer happened to bring an ebony mori then that would easily sway the match back in less than 10k
-
There are killers who can't manage 2 survivors with 3 gens left to go, and also killers who can absolutely manage 3 survivors with one gen left to go.
The game's mechanics are all over the place but there's still skill and perk choice that determines a lot. "Gen-rushing" and "tunneling" are just ways to try to shame the other players into playing how you want instead of making up for your own weaknesses.
-
Survivors gen-rush, killers kill-rush, and Super Mario jump-rushes. All unfair, pls nerf.

I have both my killer and survivor at rank 1. I love seeing statistics but the kill rate stuff doesn't mean anything for red ranks.
If red ranks really were the best of the best then I'd agree this is way to high. However at the current moment players can get to red rank even if they are useless. If these stats were changed slightly and were based off killing survivors who had more than 1000+ hours then the average would be lower. I'm not arguing for that killer is weaker or survivor is weaker, I'm just saying these stats mean nothing for red ranks.
I'd love to see these stats again based off killing survivors who have over 1000 hours playtime.
Funny story about hour shaming, I play all the time with friends on two separate Steam accounts. My spare account has about 70 hours clocked while my main account has about 800 (not counting ps4 or switch account times). I always let guests play on my main account while I, the experienced player, plays on my secondary. 9/10 times people will attack me as not knowing what I'm doing based on playtime alone when I use this account... suddenly when I switch back to my main account, people think I'm amazing again.
Also, my partner currently plays with me and, with his puny 40 some hours, already is better than most people I've encountered in ranks 20-5, definitely better than my last partner who had about 300 hours clocked in.
Playtime is meaningless.
Also, who would base balance for any game towards 1,000 + hour players only. That's the quickest way I've ever heard to absolutely destroy the playerbase of a game.

How is getting a 4k being a try hard? At that point trying to do all the gens is being a tryhard. Imagine if when all the gens are done a killer can go around the map looking for a button that will instantly kill a survivor. You did all the gens and did your job as a survivor so why are you being punished for doing your job?
How is the hatch punishing the killer? And how can someone possibly think that gens are the same as kills? Escapes are the survivor equivalent of kills, which is why 2 escaped and 2 killed is the point of balance... because that's literally balanced.
As for the hatch stand-off: healthy survivors can't be grabbed from the hatch but injured/downed survivors slowly enter the hatch (5-10 seconds?).

i have no problem in L into T walls unless there are 2 loops like that 10m away. so that's 4 windows on a 16m range. too much.
Dude 4k is usually just incompotence of survivors who are too alturistic. i play survivor with no mither and escape in 80% of the games (so 8 out of 10 i escape) and yes i get chased by the killer for a lot of time, but if no mither can loop a killer for 5 gens i'd say this game is not balanced at all. 1 health state guy should not be able to loop you for 5 gens if the killer does everything right. he chases you in the best possible way, breaks pallets that are safe etc. I play solo and most of the games i'm out of the door in 5mins. so don't tell me gen rush is not a problem when games last for 4-6mins. this game is meant to last 10+ mins hence so many pallets and windows and 3 health states.
Could you please show us your impressive no mither runs where you loop the killer for five gens and escape in under 5 minutes?
Also, aren't those 20% of killers doing something better than those 80% if they're killing you despite your amazing prowess?

For the love of God, stop saying "straw man", especially when half the time it's not even the correct use of the term.
As for the topic, adding a minute to the gates could just give the unintended consequence of making that end even more drawn out. Many people don't use blood warden because a lot of the times you're still just waiting (like if survivor goes down away from exit gates).

Sorry but I'm not convinced. You're 100% a player who plays more killer then survivor. Otherwise you would not have made this post. You might play survivor a lot but you definitely play killer more.
I like the idea though, just stop saying you're a survivor main when you're asking to make the most overpowered killer perk baseline. And no I didn't say the most overpowered perk because that certainly is DS
Also if you want this built in, then how about we make NOEDs counterpart, Adrenaline baseline.
I'm sorry you're not convinced. Oh well, I am?
Wait what? You're the one that stated it why would you need to convince yourself if you already know it.

Making adrenaline baseline without a way for killer to counter wouldn't be good for balance at all.
Yup you want to make it's counterpart baseline but you want to leave Adrenaline as a perk? Well how about this, a base NOED would require a base Adrenaline otherwise THAT'S not good for balance. Honestly, I'd scrap the idea and leave NOED and Adrenaline as they are. Sorry dude but there's no chance that could happen without making Adrenaline baseline. Even though you'd give NOED a way to shut it down, it'd still be overpowered or really weak because whatever you link it to, would be ignored by rank 20's or it would be destroyed by rank 1's.
I am a survivor main, that's the "I am".. I even edited it to clarify before your response.
And DS would be more a counter to NOED, which I already agreed could make for an interesting objective as well. Adrenaline's speed boost won't really save you and it healing you doesn'thelp against being exposed at all.
Again, it's there moreso to add time to the game, not actually come into effect.
Yes you did my bad. I didn't bother refreshing the page.
But let me explain why I think Adrenaline is a counterpart to NOED since I don't think you get it. As @Tsulan explained to me, Adrenaline doubles the hits you need to be downed and NOED halves it.
Also the adding time thing is cool and all but seriously not a built in NOED the rank 20's will have absolutely no chance.
Rank 20's could easily learn the new objectives. But it's just an idea, not gospel to me. Although I feel DS is still more of a counter to noed as DS guarentees you'll get away if you held onto it. Adrenaline's health boost does nothing to stop noed.
No. Rank 20's are new to the game and need a lot of time to improve. You can't seriously want these poor rank 20's to face a built in NOED? They'll uninstall the game instantly. That would kill the game.
The first thing they do is play the tutorial which would explain the mechanic. It would flat out tell them "yo, bro, do this objective for blood-points and to avoid a late game death". It actually helps way more than having a perk kick into effect that they don't even know about.
No. I still think they'd be confused and upset. Also, at rank 20 there is probably no killer that runs NOED because all the new players are there. A built in NOED is just ridiculous. You can't hurt the gameplay the newer players just because you get genrushed a lot.
The devs will fix genrushing. They fixed the pallet vacuums, they fixed the double exhaustion and they fixed the windows (back when it used to always guarantee a fast vault) and they will fix the genrushing. They will fix the Legion. Just wait for a fix to genrushing.
I get that this post was just an idea but I'm trying to point out all the flaws.
Every time I think we're having a good conversation it comes back to you essentially calling me a liar and thinking I'm presenting this idea because I'm a salty killer main who can't git gud.
NOED is definitely a perk that can and does get used in rank 20. It's not like it's a teachable, it's available to all killers.

Again, the point is that it shouldn't ever come into play, it's just a punishment for players not completing a new objective. Making adrenaline baseline without a way for killer to counter wouldn't be good for balance at all. At least with DS you could make it another objective, that way survivors have new objectives that both reward and punish them for doing or not doing them.

You’re heading in the right direction. NOED, however, isn’t the solution. The endgame itself needs to be modified, and many have been putting out ideas for it. First and foremost; consider how this sounds.
You’re on Haddonfield. You get the generators done. You’re now exposed. The gates are on the same wall and are visible to one another. You don’t have a key for hatch, and the killer is actively watching both exits. Not only that, but they’re much faster.Do you see where I’m going with this? I think ENDGAME, should be looked at. Also consider patrolling the entire map takes roughly eighty seconds, and generators make decently loud noises. The Technician change may change that; but the generator itself and not you repairing it will be LOUD. A generator by oneself takes eighty seconds. With two, it takes 44. With three, 33. With four, 28.2. Generator regression takes over 320 seconds to fully restart a generator, and tap it slightly, and the regression effect on the generator ends. Instead of regression going through .25 charges a second, it should go through a little higher in order to balance out how long it takes in general. When four survivors spawn in, there’s seven generators. My point is- generator regression might need to be looked at itself to prevent the issue you’re dealing with in the endgame, and likely extend the amount of time it takes to fix a generator. With the incoming changes to PT and leader, regression altogether should be sped up. And yes, PGTW does exist, but that’s only if you hook someone and damage a generator shortly thereafter.
We agree in spirit, and I'm just throwing ideas out to see what sticks because there definitely is a problem with match length/end game. I was trying to get creative and think solutions while also a fix to some of the salt that goes on by eliminating a perk so highly disputed by just making it a part of the game, but also making it easier to remove while simultaneously adding to match length.

Guys we need the "survivor main btw" meme.
I stated it because literally the first response was someone attacking me for my non-existant killer main status.
-
It still removes your scratch marks, which some would argue can be even more important than blocking a quick flash of aura.

Accidental Freddy buff. I love it.

Why do you open a discussion you don't really stand behind?
Who ever said I don't stand behind it? I don't stand behind your assumptions on the thinking behind the idea, that's all.
Games do go by really fast if the survivor team is anything but brain-dead. I say this as a survivor main.
Games go fast by 2 reasons: really good coordinated and organised SWF teams OR a bad killer against solos.
For both reasons, build in noed is NOT the solution and if you still think it is then it only shows me that you didn't understand the core issue of DbDGood discussion, thanks for the intelligent input and elaboration of your key points.

Heyo, didn't say this was a nerf. It just makes solo unappealing. I had a game on PTB that when I died, lasted 20 minutes and it's not really an attractive change as a solo survivor.
It just makes me want to play SWF only, really.
The question is still essentially the same. How does this change anything? Do you have to see the Killer's perks at the end of each and every trial or else you can't enjoy it?
Questions not the same, but anyway
@Milkymalk summarized it pretty well. It's nice to know if it was him who found me, or the use of BBQ or Nurse's. Did he have Tombstone on Myers or Unlimited EW3? Well, you can't find out because you're the first one who's died and the match lasted 25 minutes because of a hatch standoff.
It's mental satisfaction on knowing what I got outplayed with.
Now, I do understand this change was implemented in spite of demand due to the problem of what?... oh right, [BAD WORD] SWF. Because friends can tell each other if a Killer has NOED, BBQ, Bloodwarden, etc.
Which I get, but it's funny to me. Your NOED was already negated by me, a solo survivor, who took out your 5 totems. Your bloodwarden never activated because I know if someone is going down while I'm opening the gate, I'll leave a sliver before fulling opening it prior to the survivor being hooked. And for your BBQ and Nurses, well that's where your on the fence because it's not that hard to tell, so I guess that's irrelevant.
So, yes, my experience is gonna become more suck-ish with this change considering as prior to it, it was how I liked it. I'm allowed to voice my distaste too, I'm tired of this game heading in a direction that's discouraging playing solo survivor.
Maybe with Dedicated Servers, they'll be able to change it where SWF are considered groups separate from Solo Survivors and will be able to implement features around such. (Like, Solo Survivors can see Killer loadouts right away but SWF cannot)
"Essentially the same". Emphasis on "essentially". The words may change, but the rationale does not. If seeing the Killer's perks is where you derive most of your satisfaction from, to the point that having to wait to do so (or not being able to do so at all) ruins your experience, you may just not like the game all that much.
Don't take this out of proportion and use the argument "you must not like the game so much". Sigh. Have a real conversation with me. Infact, you disregarded 80% of the post.
Anyway, obviously it isn't where I derive my most enjoyment from. The issue is the discouragement to play solo keeps becoming more prevalent. SWF is looking more juicy these days and it's not typically something I like. I'm not going to stop playing, but it is affecting my experience in a negative way.
So no, I don't like this change. I've voiced it. But it's not a deal breaker.
It's an unfortunate but necessary change. I'll gladly give up my endgame perk curiosity if it helps balance out swf a bit.

It's more about adding an objective that punishes survivors who refuse to do it than it is anything else. It doesn't have to be noed.. it could be any negative effect. But just something easier to spot than totems that basically says "complete me or I'll make you wish you had" in order to add a small amount of extra time to matches.

Imagine believing NOED is a “mandatory” part of the game. Yikes.I think you're misconstruing my meaning. I don't believe it's mandatory, but I think making an easy objective that punishes survivors too lazy to accomplish it is better than trying to come up with whole new objectives to lengthen games.

Built in noed would make both sides happy, you must be talking about a different game.
A NOED that's easier to spot than totems and you know is there but still successfully makes games slightly longer... yes.
-
I notice sometimes my character refuses to un-crouch. Thought it was my controller but it's happened on multiple setups I've used.

The current problem is, that somehow survivors manage to walk over the trap unharmed, because of ######### hitboxes, but the Trapper can't do that.If that's possible then your trap placement sucks. It's obvious that you can't block a 2 meter pathway with a single trap (basement stairs for example). If you place the trap in the middle of such a pathway chances are high that YOU step in it but the survivors can just hug the wall and run past it.
Bad trap placement, nothing else.
Yesterday I trapped the place under pallet, survivor ran through it, I stopped, started to nod and show him the trap, he started to run through it constantly to check if it can catch him and it could not.
Even survivors claimed, then, that something is wrong with the traps. It was on the new map, if it is important.
To be fair, for every time an issue like that happens I pretty much can offer a personal story of my character or a friend's teleporting into a trap we weren't within reach of.
So yes, traps definitely need to be worked on. But rework hitboxes, don't add some magical ability where bad killers can walk on their own traps without punishment because... reasons. If we start rewarding mess ups then we may as well make it so every spirit automatically faces a survivor when coming out of phase, every nurse does the same when she blinks, every huntress has infinite hatchets, every leather daddy can endlessly bump into walls, and every survivor after being unhooked has increased movement speed.
-
Decrease gen repair or all around action speed on swf group members. Not by obscene amounts, but scale it to how many are in the same swf group (2 members have less of a nerf than a 4 man team). I'm pretty sure that's the easiest, fairest, fix.

You shouldn’t be put at a disadvantage since you’re playing SWF- sometimes, the killer needs to learn how to play around it.swf puts you at an advantage, but god forbid someone suggests balancing that. I guess swf can't learn to just play around that >.>
-
Ruin is designed to make gens take longer to complete... gen tapping takes longer than working on a gen normally. I don't and still will probably never see the problem here.
-
I can see lag causing a lot of issues here, but when a survivor is legit doing another animation after the vault then that becomes very questionable.
To be fair, there are select times as killer where I hit a survivor and know that I "shouldn't" have too.
