No chain yanking. Promise. Blocking someone's profile on console prevents them from appearing in online play modes for the majority of titles. I'm sure there may be some exceptions (nothing is perfect) but it's kind of like Facebook. The matchmaking pulls from PlayStation Networks online resources, since it doesn't have it's own internal save database. It relies on the same pathways, so blocking a profile from all interactions also extends to encountering them in gameplay, since there can't be any guarantees that in-game communication doesn't exist. It's ment to be a protection against harassment. Of course, if a game has dedicated server-sided saves, it could be possible to get past that by using a games internal communications database, which I assume is why, as Lightning just pointed out to me, profile blocking doesn't work on PC, or so I would assume.
@mmain Unfortunately not true, you will still be mm with blocked people.
@Cable2486 Interesting because Blizzard revealed that Sony didn't allow them to access your blocked list so they had to create their own in-game "Avoid Player" option to do that. That was ultimately removed bc ppl were blocking players they thought were too good and it made a mess of the mm. So you have proof that Behaviour is accessing our blocked list and filtering the mm accordingly? Ime I still get blocked players in my games.

That's EXACTLY the way it works on any platform. I can vouche being a PlayStation player, myself.
No it does not, you're just luckily not running into people you have blocked. However blocking someone on PlayStation is strictly so they can't send you messages or add you as a friend, it has nothing to do whatsoever with the matchmaker.

That would be why you take down their name after a match and block them. It's not rocket science. If you don't like how someone plays, block them, and they won't be matched with you. Kinda how that works.
I don't know about other platforms but it doesn't work that way on PlayStation. There's no way to block a specific player from ever being in your lobby.
-
Every suggestion is just about benefiting The Killer and improving their quality of life. None of them really address the core issue of tunneling. There are still cases where you can be tunneled beyond the 60 seconds and then what? And what about the second hook? If you want to narrow the scope of the perk, it would have to be effective in accomplishing the stated goal. Every suggestion is just a worst version of the current perk with too many additional prerequisites that are often beyond the control of the Survivor.

It's not really the same. As a survivor I can dodge other toxic survivors if I want. However, I get no option to dodge a killer that has harassed me in the past (and it has happened) because survivors don't get to see what killer they are going against. So, no... the same doesn't apply. If I get stuck with that killer that has harassed me in the past I have no choice but to play against that killer.
Plus a killer can dodge a lobby if they simply don't want to play against Claudettes or toolboxes because they get to see those things. As a survivor you don't get to dodge a lobby because you don't want to play against a Jason or whatever killer you don't like since we can't see the killer.
It may be the same in that both killers and survivors can dodge a lobby, but survivors don't get the choice to dodge just because they don't like the killer they are going against.
Killers can and do harass you if they remember you. I had The Clown face camp me until the end because the previous match I dared to use DS on him lol I got him a third time an hour later and again face camped. If I knew The Killer was the same person, I would've just dodged his lobby due to past problems.On the topic of actually seeing The Killer's character selection, that will never happen. It would be too much information but I think it would be fair to see their username/ID or simply eliminate anyone from seeing this information in the lobby.

The same applies to both sides.
Survivors can leave if they see a fellow survivor that has sandbagged them in the past.
Killers can leave if there's a survivor that has harassed them in the past.
There's no favourites here, please don't try to infer that we're picking favourites when we're not.
It doesn't apply to both sides. I said The Killer not Survivor. You covered two possibilities but didn't address the third:
Survivors cannot leave if they see (the username of) a Killer that has harassed them in the past.
That's the one I am referring to. In this scenario, the Survivor has no choice but to deal with a potentially hostile and toxic match.
-
@Peanits said:
We aren't looking to punish leaving a lobby at this time. There are reasons why someone might have to leave a lobby (e.g. They forgot to select an archives challenge, they realized they aren't ready or have max BP, they see someone in the lobby that has caused issues in the past, etc.).
If someone does dodge a lobby, that lobby remains open on dedicated servers and is pushed to the front of the queue, so it should fill back up very quickly.
Yeah, what happens to survivors that can't see the name of the killer who has caused issues in the past? Survivors just have to put up and deal with it. But Killers have the ability to exercise discretion and decide to dodge a Lobby if it contains a Survivor, they dislike for whatever reason.

You get dodged because a green rank killer wants to play against people somewhat equal in skill rather than get continuously outplayed.
The killer can't see your rank and as survivors, we can't see each other's ranks in the lobby? Otherwise, I agree with you, The Matchmaker should be more balanced based on similarly-situated players on skill.
-
I hate running these perks but it's a prerequisite because of the tunneling & camping that happens nearly every match.
-
@Schmierbach said:
DS shouldn't work with locker grabs. The point of the perk is to deter tunneling not to make you invicible for 60 seconds. Slugging is a valid counter for DS, take Unbreakable if your worried about being slugged. The point is the killer should not be put in a position where they have to drop a chase because a survivor jumped in a locker right in front of them.
And you think DS is effective? It only works once yet you can be tunneled twice in a match. Idk I just almost never run into an issue with decisive strike. However, I wish it truly address the issue of tunneling. And it currently does not.
-
@Majora said:
survivors are using program undetectable by EAC to block killers from matching with them why they not getting banned for it?
This gives big advantage, they can tell who the killer is before the match starts, and block them if they think they are too good to beat. Slowing down matchmaking times. I don't know what program it is called but i have heard a few use it.
Can dev's plz respond or punish the cheaters?
Sounds a lot like what many red rank survivors go through every single day. You get dodged because you happen to be good.
-
@Techn0 said:
I feel like it would be easier to just say "Decisive strike will deactivate if another survivor is hooked" Still works as an anti-tunnel perk. Still has a long timer to ensure it works against tunneling, but you'll next to never have a situation where you didn't tunnel and still get DS'd for just running into them.
There are many problems with that iteration. I'm not going to get into those. But the main issue is that it still doesn't address tunneling. What about the situations where you happened to exceed 60 seconds in the chase? Is it no longer tunneling when the chase exceed 60 Seconds? What about the fact that you can be tunnel twice per match? How do you address the potential second tunnel? People keep talking about narrowing DS But never address important questions. What would an iteration look like that truly address tunneling on both occasions?
-
I agree that there should be more in-game punishment in the form of points or emblem. Hook rushing? Lol it makes sense for survivors to complete a generator from start to finish to protect their investment due to regression. However, Killers don't lose progress on hooks so there is no compelling need to "Hook Rush."
-
He's annoying, what I especially hate is that apparently we're unable to scream and do things at the same time like moving lol do I have to pause for a second to scream?

Is there some unspoken moratorium on feedback? Let the feedback come in, some people want to express their frustration with something that's newly been changed I see no problem with that. It's not like the devs are going to immediately Implement changes based on feedback at this stage.
-
What do those perks have to do with generators? With the exception of adrenaline but that doesn't help accelerate generator progress. Don't you mean prove thyself?
-
I have Borrowed Time and his other perk, I only need left behind so it's not worth leveling him up to 30 for a perk I won't use. However you make a good point, so for most people I definitely agree it's worth leveling him up especially for BT.
-
I think what he said was fine, he just called you out for tunneling. It was not intentional on your part from what you're saying but it does happen sometimes. You did nothing wrong as well. The one mistake he made was that he should have been using Decisive Strike.

That wouldn't be even remotely close to a good idea for game balance at all in any stretch of the imagination.I do not believe you are rank 1 on both sides either.
First you said I was putting words in your mouth, and then you said anti-tunnel was limited to one time and now this? I shut you down on every front. Lol my idea is not even fleshed out, so how could you conclude it isn't balanced? All of your statements have no basis in reality, first you act like your opinion is authoritative and then you pretend to represent all red ranked players. You've lost all credibility in this discussion. Good bye!

The OP is saying that anyone who they deem 'immersed' (uses stealth) will be constantly be depipping, because matches go so fast that they won't have time to do anything else if they spend time stealthing. Whereas players like the OP will black pip, and the immersed survivors will only derank, effectively booting stealth gameplay out of high ranks.
Good summary, hope it's true. Tired of running into immersed potatoes that Escape with 9,000 points while you die with 20,000 lol

If you think it's insufficient then you aren't playing at rank 1. No one at rank 1 would think that. Even 1 DS is game swinging, much less 4...or even more if we had your change.
Anti-tunnel means you get 1 tunnel attempt blocked, not blocked from being tunneled all game.
I happen to be R1 in both roles.
That's your opinion but don't act like it is authoritative. Anti-tunnel means exactly that, being opposed to tunneling. That term doesn't identify any such limits. I also said the 60s timer would need to go if it worked twice to balance it out but ultimately imo tunneling should be a highly punishable behavior. And by that I don't mean a ToS violation, but via some other means to discourage it. I think Killers should have the freedom to tunnel of course.
-
@Blueberry said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1018552#Comment_1018552
Not sure how you get from "I want an anti tunnel perk" to that meaning it should have more than 1 charge. That isn't what I said at all.
Wanting it to counter tunneling does not mean it should counter tunneling multiple times. That isn't the same thing.
I never said you did, in fact I quoted you entirely so there was no risk of anyone reaching that conclusion. On topic, one charge is insufficient, you can be tunneled twice so imo it should work on both occasions. The 60s timer would have to go but another mechanism to detect being tunneled would have to be implemented. I have some ideas but it gets complicated, not sure the game can even recognize the detection to trigger a new version of DS.
-
People should be cautious what they wish for, a truly anti-tunnel change to DS would be very compelling. I would LOVE for DS to get a major change to address the issue. It would work TWICE since you can be tunneled off the Hook two times, among other changes to truly remedy tunneling and Killers will be begging for the existing iteration.
-
Majority of the matches feel crisper, but def very long queue times. The only exception is going against The Huntress, getting struck through walls and barriers every match with her. I watch her toss a Hatchet and it flies way off course but still hits behind a wall.
-
I agree, it's terrible. All I do is run into people hiding the entire match on PS4 red rank. These are the people that escaped with 12K. On the other hand the killers are no better, 150% pure tunneling every match.
-
@DeathBeam said:
If we can't slow the game down, we'll just resort using the same 3 killers over and over, or just resort to slugging and tunneling.

thats the thing...
to counter a camping killer you gen rush him...
there is nothing much else you can do to counter a camper
That's one possible outcome depending on the team but if I'm the one being Camped I have no control what other people do. When you're being camped there is no mechanism to address that. I like the idea that someone suggested that you get multiple blood point if the Killer is camping you and you just let the timer burn out. Most people try to unhook themselves or simply let go because they feel it's hopeless, that benefits the killer but I totally understand why.
-
@Thatbrownmonster said:
Survivors have plenty of perks to counter camping and tunneling
-DS
-Borrow time
-Deliverance
-Kindred
Too situational and they don't do enough to address the issues. Especially DS, which only works one time. Meanwhile you can be camped and tunneled twice. Same with camaraderie which requires another Survivor to waste time camping you as well, and alerts the killer that there's someone in the area. Borrowed only delays the inevitable, and that's assuming the person can even unhook you. As there's no perk to protect The Rescuer from a camping killer.

That’s cool, I should get a second because on the rate occasion I play with my GF I know if she gets found it’ll be over fast. She doesn’t even have the basics of strategy down and isn’t a gamer. We’ve resorted to KYF with my two nieces and we all have to go easy on her
Yeah this girl goes down after about 10 seconds. She literally goes into Lockers in the middle of a Chase. And doesn't ever look behind her so she often gets grabbed off the generator. I have the most fun playing with her and I always die. So I'm not toxic about playing with rank 20 killers. You should consider a second account, just be chill and have fun and it feels very different.
-
I have a second account specifically to play with a very good friend who happens to be a potato Survivor. I have tried to play with her in red rank with two other friends but she dies very quickly and becomes frustrated. She loves escaping, so I usually spend time helping her and making sure she escapes and I die. I really have fun playing with her and that's all it's about for me.

In what way am I confusing the discussion by stating that people using a gesture for the exact opposite of its original meaning without any agreed upon change to said meaning will find themselves misunderstood to their own misfortune. Please state where I had ANY confusion or are you simply trying to use a dollar word you recently learned.
I simply stated that the meaning can easily change, much easier than reversing yes and no in English. That's what I was referring to. Now you're trying to insult and attack me, that's my signal that you're incapable of having any discussion. Bye Felicia!

Thats just it though, it IS a language. Just because it doesnt have verbal words, doesnt mean its not. The player base took it upon themselves to use whatever actions and gestures they could to form meaning. If you look up the definition of the word language, you'll come across this.
a system of communication used by a particular country or community.
I'm referring to the fact that it's in game lingo, not official terminology. There is a difference. Community invented language is subject to change based on the community. If enough people want waving to mean come get me, then that will control. You're unnecessarily obfuscating the discussion. Carry on.

Trying to change the meaning of something to the complete opposite is only going to get you left on the hook. If I start teaching non-english speakers that yes means no and vice versa, thats not the the english language evolving. Thats just having abunch of people become misinformed and probably teaching others the same misinformation.
This isn't language, which is subject to strict rules and understanding. Don't obfuscate. There's clearly a lot of confusion about what this means and quoting a Wikipedia article isn't going to cement the meaning. And if everyone has a different understanding, it's very problematic. At the end of the day I don't care what it means, as long as there's consistency and a consensus. The fact that PC players from 2016 decided doesn't mean it can't change and that's the point I was making.

Because it never meant come get me. New people have the meaning flipped.
Or the meaning has simply evolved, things change. It's whatever the community consensus is. It's just another reason why it's much better to play with friends.

Bond or kindred is a wonderful way to make yourself sad when you realize your teammates spend 90% of the game crouching or hiding in lockers
This is true. I just wonder if that information was somehow baked into the UI, would that shame people into not doing it.
-
What about the fact that no one is coming to get you? I've been in games where people wave to signify that. There are many reasons to wave. I'm not always certain what someone is trying to say. I wish the Survivor icons in the bottom-left told us when someone was crouching, running, in a Chase and on a generator. I'm curious if people would change their play Styles or would we actually see people Crouch the entire match. We definitely need more information in the game. It's one of the reasons I don't really like playing solo.

You can't read? Look at exactly what I stated. What is it going to cost them to offer a few bundles of 5000 blood points in the free track? Behaviour isn't a charity and the free track has a very important marketing purpose. That purpose could be enhanced with offering a few no cost Rewards.
-
The rewards were disappointing, especially the free track. They need to add more stuff, even small bundles of bloodpoints, offerings, items, etc. And I can't find the post, but what's the official position on the items in the premium track? Are they forever exclusives or will they return?

Yes this is a glitch. It happened to me while playing survivor. What happens is when a survivor has sprint burst equipped and another survivor pulls them off the hook. There is a chance they’ll get unlimited speed boost. This is 100% a glitch. The only way it stopped for me was when adrenaline activated and I returned to normal speed again.
Thanks for the info, I saw more information about it online and on Reddit.

I doubt it was a speedhack as the user was playing on PS4. It’s much harder to get hacks on consoles then it is on pc
I don't want to proliferate PS4 related hacks but they're not as uncommon as people think.
-
Where's the dev post? I feel like I went up and down this thread and can't find it.
-
I agree, it's really irritating because I've had situations where I don't get a skill check and in the moment I let go it's the impossible skill check. If I know I'm going to have to let go, I typically just tap including when I heal myself if I plan to go into a locker. Alternatively you can let go right after you complete a skill check because there are never two successive checks AFAIK.
-
This was really unusual, the person intentionally wanted my attention and I could never catch up to her. It was so bad that she would get so far ahead and make noise and I still couldn't catch up. I'm not sure what it is, but I reported it and I'll submit a video to behavior.
-
The spine chill one was the only one I didn't like, it just encouraged me to be a useless immersed potato. Not my play style at all, I think it would have been better to use the opportunity to encourage more altruism. I'm really eager to see the level 4 challenges.
-
It's not fair and balanced to the survivors. I think they should copy some other game approaches to it, if the skill rating exceeds +/- 5, then you can only play with a full team of four. This offers the rank one player that wants to play with their rank 20 potato girlfriend the freedom and flexibility to do so with the only requirement being they'll have to find two other willing participants but more importantly it gives the Killer and the other survivors a fair match with similarly skilled players. It's not fair to me as rank one, to have to match make with a Rank 4 and his two rank 15 buddies against the rank 2 killer.
-
Yeah it's not really for tunneling, the perk would have to work twice for it to truly address that strategy.
-

Yeah that's definitely how it works in the United States, the new owners inherit all of the previous agreements. So those could still be enforced. It's like when Disney purchased Marvel, Spider-Man stayed with Sony and the Hulk with Universal, etc. Disney was not happy about these agreements they had to honor, especially the exclusivity ones in perpetuity.
-
And why are you still screaming against The Doctor while in the dying State? Supposedly I'm in massive pain but yet I still manage to scream like a maniac and give The Killer Free deerstalker? Lol and why doesn't iron will work in the dying state? Was that always a thing?
-
It should be like other games, outside of a full four stack, the game should enforce some limits on the rank disparity between teammates. So if your rank 20 and want to play with the rank 1 friend, you can do so but you have to find two other players before you MM. Otherwise your rank 1 friend can only play with people as low as rank 5, as an example. I think such a system would accomplish two goals, the first offering complete flexibility for people who want to play with very low rank or high rank friends. And two, it doesn't screw up solo and Duo queue players who may not want to play with a killer or teammates that are significantly vast in skill. Otherwise just re-implement the ability to see the skill rating in the lobby, I really don't think it's fair when you're in red Rank and another red person decides to bring two rank 20 friends.
