  • The stun length is ridiculous (could be reduced to 3) but even more so than that, there is 0 point to hit a target with feral frenzy when they've got deep wounds (those add-ons suck, don't even). It should do something, obviously not reduce the timer as that was cancer in the past but couldn't we get like a drastically reduced stun (like 1 second)? It would flow a lot better and survivors would still get a decent amount of distance due to the sprint burst effect of being hit.

  • Tbh, I've started feeling this way ever since I started testing no ruin runs for the upcoming update. Best thing you can do is play the more viable killers since they have the tools to pressure and down effectively.

  • Ideally, map reworks into good maps but that is unrealistic.

Like you brought up, toolboxes should be addressed now. I also think DS specifically should be looked at, now that ruin has been hit it's a bit unrealistic to expect killers to on top of all of the pressure that they're expected to do also have to deal with a momentum killer perk like that.

And I think hexes as a whole should be looked at. The only real useful Hex perks have been Ruin and NOED. Ruin because despite the risk (yes there was a risk) it started out strong from the getgo and NOED because it doesn't appear until endgame. Just look at Devour Hope, this is unquestionable the strongest effects on a perk in the game, yet it barely sees play because expecting it to last to the point where those effects come into play is almost never.

Ruin really doesn't bother me, never used it, always been red rank on both sides, I guess it's the mentality that comes with actually being good at the game I guess.

I feel like people who say this don't even consider killer choices. You can't tell me that a Clown player should be judged by the same metric as a Billy player when the margin for error to succeed is way more lenient for Billy.

  • It's not just the nerfing of the most key killer perk without addressing any of the issues of why it was run, it was the presentation of "we did this because of survivors, we did that because of survivors, this killer perk change has benefits now let us list 3 survivor benefits".

Honestly, the devs did this to themselves. It's cool for people to not want to participate though because this is some dog eat dog ######### going on.

  • Yeah man, I love how it invalidates at least 50% of the killers because they no longer have a way to compete against the early game. Yeah, killers should get good because they have 0 mobility options against giant maps like Red Forest, Ormund, Coldwind Farms, etc. Killers definitely aren't skilled enough even though most killers lack tools to deal with god tiles and unmindgamable loops.

Survivors are definitely gods at gaming which is why ruin isn't being nerfed because they can land skill checks...oh wait.

I can't wait for the day that killers mains stop whining and just play the game. oh wait that will never happen, if they're not using a broken killer with 4 broken perks what's even the point of playing.

Actually, this change encourages broken killers because low tier killers are screwed. I hope you like sitting in queue just to face Hillbilly and Spirit.

  • I can't wait for survivors to eat their words when they complain about matchmaking times.

  • I'm on console but I'll try Project Resistance in April since I'm getting RE3 Remake.

  • I'm undecided. Games are unquestionably too fast without ruin and ruin more than just slowing the game down allowed me to play in a fun way (constantly going elsewhere for new targets ie giving free unhooks instead of camping, not tunneling, minimal slugging). I don't find doing that stuff very fun but it seems like it'll be almost required, just seems like we're being forced into one playstyle because of clueless devs.

    Or, or...

    stop tunneling.

You don't see me getting mad about getting hit with DS, because when I do get hit by it...guess what? i tunneled them.

wow. a perk. that counters tunneling. who woulda thought a perk like that would exist in a game like this.

People still saying this in 2020.

  • Just tweak some numbers. I wouldn't be able to make serious changes cause I wouldn't understand how to code it but changing a few numbers on abilities, perks, add-ons, etc wouldn't be so hard.

  • I guess...how many mistakes you can make and still win.

  • Can't agree. If the killer manages to get 2 downs and hook the other guy in under 60 seconds, survivors seriously misplayed.

  • Terrible people irl.

  • The reason most people even ran it was to soft counter DS. Without that it's pretty nonexistent, and if you see it you know Spirit Fury is coming.

I get the reasoning for it because it would belittle any stun based perks like head-on but at the same time it destroyed its most common use and this is why DS is so rampant and a problem nowadays.

  • If they're expecting people to pay for BP, they shouldn't also have challenges that are on locked characters, period. Yes you can unlock them with shards, 9k shards ain't exactly cheap though. Not everyone has a stockpile of shards.

Still, it is just a leak.

  • To an extent. When I have bad games I definitely switch to one of my better killers, but I still reserve moris for sweat squads who bring like 3 toolboxes or 2 toolboxes + key. I'm not gonna lash out at some squad with a single med kit or something.

  • It's definitely the belts. You know how much time a Huntress would have to spend reloading without them? That would make them really high risk, high reward. Basically you'd have to be a god Huntress with a single hatchet.

  • What do you expect? Everyone is trying to squeeze out bloodpoints where they can because killers are either bringing moris and such to have games last longer than 5 minutes and survivors are bringing SWFs with toolboxes and key with a map offering.

  • I'm honestly feeling the same way. Survivor queues take too long and killers are at the mercy of terrible map design like Coldwind, Yamaoka, Red Forest, Purgatory, Mount Ormund, or just overall gen rush. But hey, let's rework Lerys because it's thematic.

  • Maybe I can play survivor without waiting 10 minutes now, can actually get some challenges done.

  • He really does need a rework because deep wounds is a joke now. But for now, he could at least not lose his power for missing a swing, you can't just tunnel someone to death like he could before, there is no reason for his power to be so punishing now.

  • Honestly, I like this map as both killer and survivor. As killer, totem spawns are pretty good and the map size is actually not enormous like most. As survivor, a lot of safe pallets and the gens are pretty easy to locate for an indoor map.

  • @premiumRICE said:

Wraith has the exact mechanic that ghostface has, only he is actually cloaked(harder to detect) and has a lot of speed to patrol gens and do actions. If ghostface is A tier then Wraith has the right to be too.

Ghostface can prep targets for instadown and doesn't have to spend time "uncloaking" before he can swing.

Not saying I think Ghostface should be in A tier with those guys, but he's definitely better than Wraith who definitely doesn't belong there.

  • I really don't think it should take priority over Coldwind Farm or Haddonfield.

  • There is no excuse for terrible matchmaking but its pretty obvious why it happens. They refuse to make killer a fun experience, turning off killers from playing the game, causing survivors to sit in queues for long periods of time, forcing matchmaking to pair up whoever because there aren't enough killers to match up everyone with appropriate ranks.

Maybe they should take a hard look at the game and think about the killer experience for a change. That would inadvertently fix matchmaking and queue times because more people might actually play killer.

  • To my understanding, they're just people they chose who represent the game and the community.

At least from what I can tell, because it really doesn't seem like the devs take feedback on most things, which is how things like butchered Legion, continued bad map design, and other such problems continue to happen.

  • Your information is accurate. The worst things about console killer are the sensitivity limitations and frames will drop on occasion, more so the longer you play because their must be some memory leakage going on. That said, it's not that bad for the most part as long as you crank your sensitivity to 100 and don't play without restarting for hours, you'll still get spun by survivors though, autoaim can really ######### you too.

Killers that rely on precise aim are pretty gutted on console however. I personally really like Huntress but I gave up after a while, it's so frustrating when you mindgame, knowing what they're about to do and you still miss your hatchet, be it deadzones or the lack of any smooth motions like a mouse can do, it just makes you want to stop trying after a while. Even worse for Nurse. You see players on PC who can blink and quickly 360 M1. Yeah, that ain't happening, good luck even 180ing if you blink past.

  • It's not even just about killers either. I find myself playing killer 90% of the time because I want to play the game, not spend more time sitting in lobbies than actually playing the game. Make killer a little less stressful to play and maybe survivor queues won't be so damn long.

  • The only problem is with extra hatchet addons. Imagine having to reload every throw, that's super punishing if you miss, high risk high reward.

  • NOED and Haunted Ground are fine, the rest require too much upkeep and optimism to start generating worthwhile effects. Considering that Hex totems can spawn in plain sight, it makes the rest too risky to use.

  • Killer is a miserable experience. Despite that I'd rather have instant killer lobbies than 10+ minute survivors lobbies because I want to play the game not sit around, but I know most people just won't play killer.

  • In a SWF it makes more sense and to avoid bloodwarden when someone is about to get hooked, otherwise just open it. Don't expect much coordination from solos so having the gate actually open is more useful.

I've seen enough people go down because they had to go and tap the gate and wait for the door to open before trying to escape to where I'm just gonna open the door. If you can't get out in 2 minutes chances are you weren't gonna get out or saved.

  • I know what the point of the video was but I can't get over the potato Kate play.

  • No, it's a mechanic. Toxic is behavior. Using DS doesn't make you toxic, teabagging afterwards because you got a free escape through the exit gates makes you a d-bag and is toxic. Using a flashlight isn't toxic, going click click click click click after you get a save is toxic.

  • I can't be convinced that the butchering of Legions power is anything but a nerf. Does it feel better to use? Yes. Is Deep wound an actual joke of a status now? Yes. Does Legion still get stunned for 4 seconds when leaving Feral Frenzy? Yes.

I can't explain why his stats went up (maybe nemesis + PWYF making M1 killers a bit more usable) but he certainly is in a worse state than before.

  • I've done the killer challenges in tier 3 and only a few survivor challenges. 10+ minute queues and then having to actually complete the challenge makes survivor a chore to complete.

  • Personally, the only thing that gets me tense is killers who can hide their heartbeat. It keeps me constantly on edge looking around. Strong killers aren't "scary".

    @jokerdude23_

Right, and in theory you are absolutely right. However, to simply imply that DS has that much of an impact in matches that because someone has it means you are bound to lose the match is not correct.

Most of the time the people who use it early on wish they had it towards the end of the match, which is why I agree with @survivormain1105 because smart killers will get it out of the way so they don't have to deal with it during the EGC.

He may have been a little dramatic sure, but the mere presence of an obsession can completely change the way a killer plays, that's the power of DS.

  • Because killer is just stressful. The amount of effort the devs expect from killers is beyond what most are willing to deal with.

The speed of the gens, the amount of hook a killer needs, dealing with DS on top of that, the size of most maps and the constant release of bad maps, pipping requirements needing a total rework because you are punished for using instadowns or ending games too quickly, medicore killers like Legion getting nerfed, terrible killers left to collect dust, killers more or less only having 3 perk slots because if you're not running ruin you're gimping yourself (and let's be honest, almost everyone is running BBQ for double points so you have 2 flex slots which usually goes to Pop Goes the Weasel and one other perk).

Killer is not fun, it's a job.

  • Considering his power is so unthreatening now, he's basically just an M1 killer so you have to know what loops can be mindgamed, how to hide your light, etc.

Seriously though, his power is butchered. It feels better using it with the speed but the mend timers are so short that unless 2 survivors are next to each other, the other person will have mended by the time you get to another person. Then throw in the fact that potentially the weakest power in the game still has an instant drain on a miss and a 4 SECOND STUN and you wonder how this got the okay. Meanwhile Billy has map traversal instadowns with less recovery time and no meter required.

  • It's the worst feeling. I've had it happen multiple times, survivors gen rush and 3 gen themselves only to find a key in a chest and triple escape, pretty much ruins your chances of pipping.

  • Was hoping he would be better to play on console but he still feels weird to play except now I have less control during the dash.

  • Don't you know? Killers get shamed for actually using good stuff, only survivors are allowed to be meta even though the game is survivor sided. It's in the survivor handbook.

  • I want the BT before Legion was released. I mean if they're going to gut Legion, might as well revert all the buffs that BT got because of him.

  • I know people hate BT but that is an anti tunnel perk, DS is just pure immunity. The game would be better off without this perk even existing. As a player who plays both sides, it's actually ridiculous the things you can get away with as survivor with DS (jumping in a locker is basically eat my ds or go elsewhere, endgame ds is just a free escape) and the amount of extra effort killers have to put forth to deal with it. The speed that gens go, 12 survivor hook states, and then having to worry that you can't even pick someone up if they've been unhooked recently, BHVR REALLY expects a lot from killers.

  • Middle of the pack, stalking is not a waste.

  • Wouldn't be surprised if his instadown required a FULL charge, not that semi-almost non existent charge it currently has.

  • I like lore, I like free stuff, I don't like challenges that ruin the normalcy of games, challenges that require luck, challenges that require like 10+ games, the fact that you can only progress one challenge at a time, the fact that lore is locked behind these tedious tasks. There is a lot wrong with the archive, the only time I felt like the challenges weren't too intrusive was tier 1. It has just gotten more ridiculous and unfun with each tier.
