  • Xenokitty. Xenomussy.

  • They wouldn't pay all that money for a popular license just to hide it behind SM lol

  • I only have an issue with SM, and even then it's because of how people choose to play her (pushing the game for an hour). Knight is simply boring, which is simply personal taste, and I think Singularity is fine.

BHVR are kind of damned if they do and damned if they don't. People want every killer to be vastly different from each other and not '(killer) 2.0'. Yet if the skill floor is low people complain about boring M1 killers. If the skill ceiling is high, then people complain that it takes too long to get good at them. There are a couple killers that fall in between, that get decent results without being too difficult. The Xenomorph can easily take mechanics from other killers - a lunge like Demo's, eggs with facehuggers used like Singularitys pods, removing facehuggers like you would Victor, etc.

Peanits said recently that they don't expect every person to play every killer. They expect people to find those few favourites and stick with them. Especially with there being so many killers now. Not everyone *has* to enjoy every killer. If Xenomorph isn't for you, it will certainly be for others.

  • Nah. The devs once said endgame collapse shouldn't benefit anyone as it's just a means to an end. The whole point of it is so the game comes to an end. I agree with them on that, and I'm a survivor main. Unfortunately certain rng make it harder for survivors to escape via exit gate during it but that's just the nature of rng. One trick is to open gate progress to just before the c in 'escape' on the progress bar then hide momentarily close by. The first light switches on after the c, so once the killer has checked the gate and left, hop back on and hope you can finish opening before they get back.

    My guesses are:

    1. The Xenomorph will be an aggressive stealth killer, which may introduce a much faster form of stealth playstyle.

    2. I hope to god Sigourney Weaver reprises her role as Ellen, with perhaps a legendary skin in Amanda Ripley.

    3. The map would be the Nostromo.

    4. The Xenomorph may have a perk that involves injuring survivors if stunned (as a reference to their acidic blood)

    5. The mori may be a head-munch.

    6. Ripley (if it is her) will have a perk that may introduce a new item, such as a flamethrower from a chest, that can be used to seal off areas for a brief period of time to prevent killers from chasing. Maybe one-use, and probably trialed already during the anniversary in the form of the blocking of vaults.

Re #2, can just imagine Ripley running up to save Meg with the flashlight and hearing "get away from her you #########!" 😂

  • @Xendritch said:

My guess is a combination of stealth with a lunge ability and some sort of mini mori through a status affect.

So like a combination of Demo and Sadako.

    Fully anticipate a Demo-like lunge

  • I reckon they'll use a similar mechanic to Singularity, except instead of a pod it'll be a face hugger coming from a planted egg. You can probably get rid of it in a similar manner to Victor.

  • I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure it was always supposed to be rare/green items. It was just a bug that made it give ultra rare.

Jonesy is in the teaser!!!!! OMG please say the survivor is Ripley. PLEASE. I’M BEGGING.

Jonesy better be in the new map. I need to give him good luck pets, like Maurice

  • It's midnight and I had to wake my hubby up because I'm so freaking excited rn. Please Ripley too!

Get Felix as either Cloud or Cid.

    Maybe Yun-Jin as Tifa.

    Jeff as Vincent.

Knight as any one of my namesakes.

Dredge as one of the Jenova forms or even Chaos/Zeromus/Neo Exdeath.

    And Clown as Kefka.

Yeeeees. I'd be all over this.

As someone who wasn't a fan of the horror genre prior to playing DBD, allow me to offer my opinion on horror's biggest icons (not already in the game):

    • Jason
    • Pennywise
    • Jack Torrance
    • Alien
    • Chucky
    • Dracula
    • Frankenstein Monster
    • Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde
    • The Phantom of the Opera
    • Cthulu/Anything with Lovecraft's name on it

From that list, Dracula is (imo) the biggest icon. ...but he is also public domain, so he wouldn't make sense for a "licensed chapter." I believe Frankenstein, DJ & MH, and the Phantom are also public domain, so not exactly "licensed."

Lovecraft is (imo) the next heaviest hitter, but his monsters are far less recognizable than his name. If BHVR was interested in that type of killer, I think the Pale Man from Pan's Labyrinth would evoke a better response from consumers than any Lovecraftian being ever could.

I wouldn't rule out non-horror movies as "big licenses," either:

    • Wizard of Oz (Wicked Witch)
    • Nightmare Before Christmas (Oogie Boogie)
    • Harry Potter (Dementors)
    • The Mummy (Imhotep)
    • Jurassic Park (T-Rex)
    • Lord of the Rings (Nazgul)

IMO, DBD could extend it's life by 10 years with non-horror licenses, and I would hope that BHVR is exploring those options.

I hadn't even considered Jack Torrance! How wicked would that be. I can't see him ever coming to DBD honestly, as he's too human and I can see people complaining, but he's definitely iconic

  • Oh maybe the Perks box on Trickster's screen? I remember when it first appeared on some people's screens, it seems like only a select number of people got it.

  • @shalo said:

The left screen has the Offering box highlighted so it's showing Offerings, you have perks selected so it's showing perks. Is that the difference you're asking about?

That's the only difference I can see too. This feels like one of those spot the difference games lol

  • I assume they're saying something just needs some fine tuning. Like it's almost right/balanced, it just needs a bit of adjusting.

  • I commented just before on another post saying the same thing. In all the time I've played this game I don't think I've had a more unpleasant day as I have today. Something in the air?

  • They also said "iconic", not just "big L", which suggests to me an older, well loved license.

  • I've had a series of unpleasant games today tbh. I've been playing for 2.5 years and I don't think I've had a bad day like today. Escaped plenty, so nothing to do with that, but just the unpleasantness of team mates and killers today. I haven't played much lately as my kids were sick, and it was just terrible coming back to the game when I was looking forward to it.

  • I'd advise just picking your poison. Personally I'd save my penalties for 3 genning SMs. At least with Sadako you get to play a game, get some decent bp, and it's over sooner rather than later.

  • Probably a new video from a content creator has been released

  • @emetSdidnothingwrong said:

How about we nerf a problematic killer not an entire strat. What do you wan the killer to do at this point? Tunneling is bad, slugging is bad and now 3gen is bad. I'm not even being sarcastic, what tf do you want the killer to do?

SM is the problem, not the 3gen strat, nerf the fk out of SM or better yet just delete her.

Guessing you're not aware that the devs said the 3 genning strat was not an intended part of the game and they're currently working to make it impossible to do so? I mean, that's quite different from tunnelling and slugging, which the devs have said are legit strats. But they've outright said you're playing the game wrong by 3 genning.

People don't want to spend an hour of their time locked in a game with you. You can get the same amount of bloodpoints in a 10 min game with any other normal game than you would in a 30+ min 3 gen game. Not worth people's time.

  • That was hilarious. I actually felt bad for the bot when it would ask for a heal and everyone ignored it 🤣

  • I don't have that shirt. Happy to have it for free though if BHVR wanna give me one lol

  • I'm pretty sure I recall the devs saying on this forum before that refusing to do gens is reportable. Your situation sounds like exactly the sort of thing they were referring to.

  • I wouldn't say no to Keanu Reeves personally lol he'd be kind of cool

  • Overcome, Lucky Break, Bite the Bullet (with a medkit), and something like Windows or Quick and Quiet. So easy to lose them and waste time. Too easy actually, I got bored using it.

  • I feel like the next survivor will be a girl, as we've had a few male ones recently (Vittorio, Renato, Gabriel, Nic Cage) and only one recent female (Thalita). So I'm hoping it's Alien with Ellen Ripley.

  • I don't think it's outdated at all. It's really your only indication of where the killer is at many loops. It's why the killer going backwards is so effective in chase, because it hides the stain and by the time you realise the killer is there you're usually within hitting distance.

Bots don't perform like humans. They have terrible decision making, they will run across the map to do a chest instead of finishing a 99 gen at 1 gen remaining. They're incredibly inefficient in general and a hinderance to most teams, having them fail skill checks is just a slap in the face.

This. They're pretty terrible team mates. The skill check misses are just rubbing salt in the wound at this point.

Its actually not that tough, because the tv is only off for 45 seconds when she TPs to it, so as long as you stay in the general area of one, its a good shot that it'll pop back up in 10-20 seconds unless she JUST teleported. In which case, why are you trying to grab a tape while she is nearby?

I had to do this to get rid of Condemned because it was almost full and i couldn't find an active TV. I think I ran around one TV for a good 30s waiting for it to switch back on. If everyone is doing this frequently then it adds up to one massive waste of time in a game where seconds count. You're literally playing to beat Sadako or your team mates to a TV. Maybe they could add some sort of recharge indicator after x amount of seconds. I don't know. But TVs should be the side objective, but at times they feel like the main objective.

  • I'm confused. If you read every other recent thread on Sadako there are killer/Sadako mains saying to literally do this (grab and hold a tape) as a counter to her persistent ability to transport and shut down TVs.

  • It was against the rules. But they need to give the rules another look over as that particular one makes zero sense. Survivors are just skins. Playing as Cage gives zero advantage.

  • Yeah I've commented about this in another topic. They miss way more skill checks than your average player.

  • Makes for funny moments sure, but the times it doesn't pan out you've probably wasted alot of time

  • I give every SM I come across a chance to play the game beyond setting themselves up in one corner of the map. Literally only ONE didn't play the 3 gen game. So yeah, I know she's capable of being used outside of that gameplay. But try convincing the majority of SM players of that. They don't care. I've had many tell me they enjoy long games and survivors should be forced to endure them too.

  • That's a shame. A few days ago I was wondering if they'd tweaked SBMM for the better because all of my games had competent team mates and there was no steamrolling from either side, it felt like killers and survivors were all on a similar level.

  • Overall I personally think they're a positive, just for that random DC you get every now and then. The time they're a negative is when against killers that have always tended to have multiple DCs (ie Nurse, Pinhead, SM). Those games have always been losses anyway and multiple bots just prolong the inevitable.

I also found myself the sole survivor with a couple of bots against a Pinhead. He tunnelled one guy out, and the guy was clearly in a duo because his team mate DCd when he died. Then the other survivor DCd because the bot was so bad at managing the box, it was ruining the game. Thankfully the killer put me on hook when I asked.

  • Switch and PS5. Always have cross-play on.

survivor meta in 2017 dead hard adren balanced life sprint burst

survivor meta in 2023 adren balanced life sprint burst

yea i don't see the difference

I think it's a sad indictment on how poor survivor perks have been in recent years that the most used ones are several years old.

  • They're a match made in heaven. Whoever DCd and left a bot had the right idea.

  • A last ditch effort that actually paid off. Good for them

Skull Merchant is one of the worst pieces of content ever added to the game. I said this a Million times and I will forever say this.

whoever designed her doesn’t play the game and has 0 basic understanding of the culture she was allegedly based of off

Also, Curupira would be a good killer tbh

If you watch that behind the scenes video, I think her design was good in theory and I can see what they intended in making a hunter/tracker. I think it's more that they don't know their playerbase very well. This playerbase will always take the path of least resistance. Why bother putting the energy into hunting survivors down when her power is easy enough to make survivors come to you?

I agree with OP re her lore. There's really nothing that shows off her Brazilian roots in there.

  • I'm a solo survivor main, and it's not that bad, but I do understand what you are saying. There's essentially 3 different ways of playing in this game: solo, swf, killer, and making changes to address any problems or exploits around swf usually predominantly affects solo. Thing is though, this is by design. Solo is the fodder for kill rates. Swfs have an increased chance of survival, depending on their level of coordination, and that will never change. The devs ultimately can't punish people for wanting to play with their friends.

  • I got it pretty quick. Was on Midwich against a camping Trapper, so I just worked on gens above wherever he had set up shop.

Wait what? Tell me how I can use the 31 killers to finish his challenge.

Nothing to do with your challenge (it's okay to struggle with a killer you're not familiar with) but I'm replying to your claim he needs to be deleted. You never have to play him again after you complete the challenge, you have other options.

  • I see you're in a 3 man swf. Majority of the survivor player base is solo. Not sure why you think your experience is an accurate representation of a typical survivor but okay.

  • If you're struggling with him, you don't *have* to play him. There's like 31 other killers to pick from. I've gone up against plenty of good Singularitys.

  • That's cool. I don't see alot of AFK players anyway but nice to see it's disincentivized for those who make it a habit.

  • @CakeDuty said:

I did try to talk about it and bring it up in my own thread a couple days ago. I didn't catch too much traction. However, I had a game where only 2 pallets and harvester spawned on the opposite side of shack on Rancid. Went into a Custom Game with bots to see if I jus had bad luck or if it was an actual issue. Out of 5 tests, the map only spawned 2-3 pallets on that side of the map and the rest being a huge dead zone.

This was probably the worst one. 1 pallet in the corner, harvester and a unsafe pallets in the middle and the rest was just deadzone. Idk why they changed Rancid, it felt like the most balanced of the corn maps to me.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9tOyMuWpaZ8&t=1s&ab_channel=CakeDuty

Yeah it was like that in my game as well. I liked that they were reworking it to make it more balanced but they seem to have trouble finding that middle ground.

  • @DY86 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3495938#Comment_3495938

Yeah, I feel the devs are really struggling to find a perfect balance there. I for one think giving her more chase potential would be best, instead of focusing so much in the condemn mechanics tbh

Didn't they try that with the last Skull Merchant update and it changed nothing? They gave her better chase potential to get people to stop zoning down a 3 gen to no avail. People prefer the path of least resistance. Maybe for Sadako they could start by throwing some more TVs in and cutting down the condemn build up to compensate? I dunno.

I've been thinking recently that the folks who say the devs don't play their own game might be right. Sadako absolutely needed an update that forced survivors to interact with her tapes, because they could easily be ignored most of the game. But it feels like it's gone too far in the other direction now, where people are needing to prioritise finding a tape/TV that's actually on over a gen. It should be a side quest, not the main quest lol I'm still trying to reserve judgement yet anyway, as I think new changes should always be given a few weeks to adjust to. But if people who have never, or rarely, played her before are already getting easy multiple Condemned deaths just days in then I think you're right that a nerf is inevitable. I'll bet BHVR are making great sales on her chapter in the meantime though.
