  • My solo escape rate is 27%

  • I said last year that I think Halloween costumes for survivors of the killers would be cool

  • I'm positive I didn't dream that it was once considered the camp dance?

  • I think it's fine as is. I don't see alot of DCs in my games, which probably correlates with the fact that I don't see alot of tunnelling in my games. They seem to go hand in hand when I do see them. While I don't agree with it, I can see why it might make some people frustrated and impulsively ragequit. Most people who chuck hissy fits over going down fast, or who the killer is, or being the first on hook, etc, tend to let go on hook instead.

Mandy said once that the reason the first penalty is so low is to give the person time to calm down after a ragequit. I think that's fair. I'm sure most people who ragequit probably wish they'd handled it better once they've calmed down.

  • I do it too in that scenario. If the game can't be saved with just two of us then prolonging it is pointless. Combination of giving other survivor a chance at hatch, and me just wanting to go to the next game rather than waste time in a game that's over.

If they'd be lobby dodged I think that speaks volumes and shows something needs to be done. And this is coming from a survivor main.

Because they know solo queue players, especially newer players, are easier to kill. This playerbase is all about the path of least resistance - they'll jump at any opportunity for an easy win.

Thing is, the game is designed to give more challenging opponents the more you win/increase in MMR. Some people simply don't like or understand that because it means accepting they'll lose sometimes. I've been in countless discussions over the years with people complaining about swfs, and when pressed will say something like 'I was on a good 4k run until I got matched with this team!' They act like it shouldn't have happened, yet the game is designed this way.

  • I think I like #2 the best. Love the hairstyle on #1 though

  • Re your MMR questions - the more people dodge, the more the game seems to prioritise queue times over MMR. Since you play solo, you've probably had those games where you load in and the other 3 survivors and killer are way above your skill level? You're the backfill. You also have those games where the whole team is steam rolled at 5 gens by a killer with thousands more hours than you. That killer probably landed on your lobby after dodging many teams with a similar set of hours to themselves. Those experienced team lobbies will end up backfilled with some poor baby killer. BHVR need to do better on this front.

  • There's a bunch of new Silent Hill projects coming. I'm sure he will see a surge of popularity again, especially with the SH2 remake in which he features heavily.

  • So does this mean Sony are maybe playing nice now, and will agree to link with the Switch finally?? Hoping so hard..

  • This topic got me so excited for a second, but it's just potential PS to PC? I need Switch and PS 😥

  • Keep them. No penalties would allow survivors to game shop, and since I also support hiding prestige, profiles, etc, in lobby to help curb lobby dodging, it'd be hypocritical of me to support getting rid of DC penalties.

  • I've had Prime since before they teamed up with DBD, so it's all just bonus for me. I'm happy with whatever, though an occasional cosmetic would be nice

  • It's not that bad. I think there are some killers that I wouldn't bother with on console due to feedback, but I play Demo and Wraith just fine. Heck, I learned to play Demo on the Switch lmao ultimately it might take a bit longer to get the hang of than it would on PC, but as someone whose never played on PC so don't know what I'm missing out on, I think it's okay.

i am not playing the 3 gen strat i simply used it as an exemple. I understand your point bud, i know what matchmaking is. But the problem as nothing to do with skill lmao, if your point is that making 2-3 gens under 2min is what skill is well im out of idea lmao! This is just gens speed problem with perks and tools added up to do em quicker.

If you say so. If you are losing every single game you're playing then it sounds like you are above your comfort level, and that should settle. If you're not losing every game, just some, then it sounds like the game is working as designed.

  • The game doesn't count hatch as an escape. The devs have said the game considers it null and void. Hatch was introduced because of endgame stand offs, where the game devolved into hide and seek. It's purely a means to an end, and killers are far more likely to find hatch than survivors are anyway. Getting angry over a survivor getting hatch is pointless. Literally all it gets them is extra bp.

  • The 3 gen strat was nerfed because the devs said they did not intend for the game to be played that way. If you are consistently now going up against stronger opponents, then it means you've stomped enough less experienced opponents and the game is now giving you more difficult ones. The game isn't designed for you to win every single game, it will get harder the more you want to win.

You could 3 gen, or tunnel, or camp your way to countless wins all you like. But eventually the opponents you face will know how, and come prepared, to deal with those strategies. Sometimes those strategies can be detrimental as they'll throw your MMR up high above your comfort level. If they are all you know to use to win, they will lose their effectiveness as you advance and you'll be stomped in return. Copping a bunch of losses may be a good thing in that case, as it may bring your MMR down to a more comfortable level eventually. Best of luck.

  • Have you reached out to Support? If you're consistently having DC issues then I would be focusing on trying to fix those before continuing to play. As you've experienced, the result is just your penalty increasing.

I had some wild weather in my area not long ago and had black outs. By night 2 I decided to stop playing the game until the weather had settled, which was the right decision as I had to endure a couple more nights of black outs after that.

  • I have alot on my Switch but I don't play on that anymore. Would really like Zarina's red top to hit the stores, it's one of my faves

I didn't. As I said, they deserve their reports (assuming op did report them). But framing it as: "Look, killers are so toxic." isn't right when both sides did it. It was 4 players that deserved to be reported here, not just 1.

Also, I didn't say anything about 'bad survivors'. To me disconnecting and holding someone hostage are the same. They are both against the rules and when you start to measure bannable offenses with different metrics it's a slippery slope. This only leads you to a point where you tolerate some bannable offenses and condemn others, which in the process makes you a hypocrit.

Yeah but OP didn't DC. So the actions of the other 3 are no excuse for what the killer chose to do to OP. OP made no generalised comments about killers as a whole, just this particular one. The other 3 DCing cut the game short, but the killer is now holding OP hostage for close to an hour. These arent comparable. So I'm also baffled by your take on these events. We know DCing isn't okay - there are penalties in place. We don't need to discuss that, they copped their punishment automatically. Now OP is being punished for what? Something outside of their control? They didn't make the other 3 DC

Players w Bond have been extra toxic, lately.

Had several matches w players using Bond to get close to others just to follow them around, stalking them, the whole match, and copy everything they do (eg. walking, running, crouching, pointing, on/off gens, in out of lockers etc., everything, exactly); also intentionally, repeatedly, purposefully failing multiple skill checks on gens, then sneakily dipping when the killer shows up, so the other players get chased instead.

Bond players doing nothing the entire match, who wait out the deaths of teammates, then lead the Killer directly to the other remaining Survivor (who actually played the game) to sandbag them and somehow get the Killer to give them hatch. Surprised how many times I’ve seen this work in their favor, and the other players just suffer the wrath of these ruthless little Bond hooligans.

Also; this was frustrating: (CoH isn’t worth it anymore, so I use Inner Strength often) Twice, I’ve had Bond players point me out in a locker, then repeatedly attempt to open the locker while I was getting a heal. Had them corner me cleansing totems, then hold me hostage there til the Killer arrived, too.

    Just nonsense like that.

Toxicity in ppl and the one perk that empowers their shenaniganistic ways, smh.

The locker thing happens to me all the time when I use Built to Last. Rather than waste time running to another tile, I can jump off a gen and just hop in the locker next to it. But if there's another survivor on that gen, there's a good chance they'll either stop and just stare in judgement at the locker or they'll repeatedly try open it. There are so many locker perks these days, you'd think they'd learned to cope with it by now.

  • I hadn't played in a few days and hopped on yesterday. Had a game where a Laurie unhooked me while carrying Pinhead's box, then proceeded to solve the box immediately right there and bring Pinhead to us. Of course he went for me, the injured one, and Laurie didn't even try take a hit or take aggro, she just immediately hopped on a nearby gen and left me to it. I'm positive it was an intentional sandbag. My desire to play completely left me at that point. I put up a half-a**ed chase, just wasnt feeling it anymore, and turned off the console after that game. Team mates can truly be terrible.

  • I don't really have an opinion as i never see alot of DCs personally, but I know there were enough killer complaints about DCs ruining adepts etc and survivor complaints about being left one man short too often, and replacement bots seem like the best solution to that

  • You'd break every Myers and GFs heart if they couldn't play on Lerys

Here's the thing though, when my team is actually decent skull merchant is my favourite killer in the game to verse. I enjoy the teamplay required to win against the killer, similar to other killers like twins, hag, plague, and singularity. Bonus points if she actually know how to use her ability in chase.

Plus I'm biased since she's my 2nd favourite killer in the game overall.

The issue arises though when your teammates don't know how to verse her, so your efforts of constantly hacking drones mean nothing so the match just drags out forever.

I've had one great game against a SM, where she had a chase build and used her drones in chase, not on gens. No one DC'd, and she got a 3k (4th got hatch) because she was just on the ball the whole game. If every SM game was like that, I would enjoy playing against her. It was the first and only game in which I got a glimpse of what the devs were probably intending with SM. It's just a shame 99.9% of SM players prefer to just stand in one spot for as long as they can.

  • Yeah she's always been a common killer in my games. I feel like most Huntresses are so aggressive but it could be my imagination lol

  • @AtoTimber said:

this was literally how matchmaking worked pre "skillbased matchmaking MMR" and I actually prefer it a lot, because if you deranked you would get out of sweatier games, or if you didn't play as much, the games weren't so sweaty either, but if you were higher ranked you knew you would probably be gearing up to try. And in a SWF, it used to average out the ranks too which was nice. Tbh bring it back !!

I remember trying to stay in purple rank as long as I could because as soon as I hit gold, it was like I was playing a whole other game lmao I didn't even want to see a glimpse of red rank

  • I've said before that we should all have a limited block list - so maybe like 7 block spaces to block 7 people. So that way people aren't blocking willy-nilly, and if they are then theyll have to eventually remove someone from block when they want to block someone new. I have a note in my note app of people I don't want to play with and there's only 2 people on it. But it'd be nice if I could have just blocked them in game, especially since they can just change their username and I'll have no idea.

I'm sad that I never got to play in Hawkins. 🙁

I remember Myers and GF used to always bring the offering. Now they just stick to Lerys.

I hope we get it back, or at least get cross progression as all my ST cosmetics, and Jonathan, are on my Switch 😭

  • I'm a solo queue player and I run fun builds alot. Some perks i use more often than others, namely WoO (which is meta, yes) and Overcome, but I change up often. If I play enough each month I can get to iri 1. And that's without using any of the perks you mention. In terms of winning though, solo queue is meant to have low escape rates - who do you think fuels the 60% kill rates? I do think if it drops any lower though that alot of players will be driven off.

I'm content with my escape rate (currently 27% - I keep track of my results) but I had one week where my escape rate dropped to 10% and it was honestly hard to keep playing. Started thinking maybe the game wasn't for me - and I've been playing for almost a few years lol

I also had my best winstreak using Overcome, Lucky Break, Bite the Bullet, plus something like Quick and Quiet, with a medkit. I feel like that's a fun/meme build. So I think it can be done without falling on meta perks.

  • I doubt you're going to see an increase in DCs with the bots. People who DC now don't care about their team, and they're not suddenly going to have the attitude of 'oh the team will gain a bot, it's all good for me to duck out.' The same people who DC now will still DC in future. They will also still have the penalty applied to their accounts. They're not gonna punish themselves to punish the killer.

I've been playing for a few years and honestly never experienced a game where every survivor DCd unless there was a hacker.

  • I suspect most people don't make an effort, or will let themselves get exposed rather than do a drone, on purpose. Most probably don't care if they get sacrificed early against a SM.

  • People usually parrot content creators. And don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with watching content creators (I watch them too) but content creators tend to fearmonger and exaggerate for click$, and a bunch of their followers will then flock here and repeat instead of coming to their own conclusions. This will never end. I feel content creators have much more sway over the playerbase now than they did years ago.

  • I used Alert for the first time this week and it's pretty handy. Had a Wesker trying the 3 gen from the start strat so he would just circle 3 gens kicking them. I'd get notified at whichever gen he was at and then which direction he was running in, so i was able to hop on the gen pretty quick behind him and know when he was heading my way again.

  • In solo queue though, unless you have Bond you don't really know where your team mates are. They could be across the map or on the gen closest to yours.

  • I rarely see her, and honestly I can't remember the last time I escaped a Hag. She's always struck me as strong but I often see her referred to as a weaker killer so I dunno.

How dare people not want to play for 45 minutes just to break a 3-gen.

Yup. Once you hit max gen repair points you're literally getting nothing for your time.

Actually, they do; they flag the match for the ACMs. In all instances of a rule violation in game, this is required. From there, a Support Ticket is optional or required as well depending on the rule broken, as noted here: https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/kb/articles/139-game-rules

In regards to ragequitting and the like, the first sentence explains it. Its no different than the other examples like AFK, or admission of giving up in post game chat (like if they admit running to the killer to give up on first hook because they didn't want to play the match anymore). And yes, DCs are not reportable, and they may not be ragequits either (Years ago I myself had an internet outage right as I was jumping into the hatch; my friend thought I DC'd but then realized I disappeared from Steam and Discord as well).

Yeah I haven't had a game crash in as long as I can remember, then yesterday my game froze for about 10 or so seconds while I was being carried and then crashed completely. I'm hoping since it was endgame and my first hook and the killer was inadvertently carrying me towards a hook near the exit gates where my team mates were resetting, that they'd all assume I had a crash. Makes me think i should give the benefit of the doubt more often to team mates who suddenly DC.

  • Devs said they never intended for the game to be played that way (no one likes long games) hence why they're finding a solution.

  • Unless you're playing Scratched Mirror, the goal of playing with Myers is to tier up

  • Just tunnel vision on one survivor. There's been a handful of instances over the years where I've been what i consider hard tunnelled, which is what I use to describe when the killer is even walking right past other survivors sitting on gens or doing whatever, just trying to find me. That's how hard their tunnel vision is. But those times have been crazy rare.

    2100 hrs.

I'm not claiming I win most of my games in solo-queue, but 25% is a very extreme number.

I wouldn't think so. My solo escape rate is 27% and I've been playing for a few years. I don't count hatch in that though, since the game considers it null/invalid and not an escape. When you consider that last year the devs put survivor escape rates at around 40%, and said that playing with friends can apparently increase your chances of escape by "up to 15%", I don't think 25% for solo is extreme at all. We undeniably make up the bulk of killer kill rates.

  • I only play two, Demo and Wraith. I've tried a few others (Nurse, Huntress, and Legion) but don't think they're for me. I plan to try Spirit next and I wouldn't mind trying Hag.

  • Nope. It's so hit and miss. I've had high Prestige team mates who go down in 10 seconds, who don't touch gens, who crouch in corners and let me go to second hook, who chuck a hissy fit and sandbag everyone or throw themselves in front of killer to go next. And I've had low Prestige team mates who are altruistic asf and run the killer for multiple gens.

I know some survivors dodge if they get matched with low hour survivors, but I've been playing for a few years now and fully switched platforms at the start of the year so my current account shows low hours yet I know how to play and carry my weight. And I'll die to get my team out. I honestly don't think there's any real 'tell' when it comes to team mates.

  • This is absolutely the right call when it comes to frequently used perks. When Nowhere to Hide was being used seemingly every game, I equipped Distortion. Windows of Opportunity is very popular at the moment with survivors, which explains why I'm seeing Fearmonger alot. I've seen an increase of NOED in my games so I've been bringing Small Game the last couple days. If MFT is in most of your games then absolutely find the best perks to counter it.

I've been checking at the end of every one of my games this week and I see maybe one person with it every 3-4 games now. Went 5 games straight at one point with no MFT. So I feel like maybe it's a high MMR thing?

  • @shalo said:

'cause baby Surviors need their hands held.

No. The devs already said it's because Franklin's was introduced before special items were, and with more and more special items coming out (safe to assume future killers will have some function similar to Pinhead and his box) they want them to stand separate and not be influenced by perks or synergised with them. There's also the fact that they've spent the last 12 months overhauling perks to break metas, and every Pinhead carrying FD wouldn't pass by unscathed.

  • I've noticed a lot more NOED, but only slightly more DH. I don't mind it though. An impromptu totem hunt breaks the monotony

I still remember people complaining after a singular day since Singularity got released that he needs a huge buff and to nerf EMPs to the ground. People's willingness to learn new things is deteriorating rapidly but it is what it is I suppose.

It wasnt even a day. He was released 11pm my time, and I hopped on the forum at 7am when I got up to get the kids ready for school, to see how the update was going, and there were posts like that that were hours old. People expected to be mastering him immediately.

Peanits has a post up in another thread where he mentions that they don't make killers under the assumption that everybody will play them. They expect people to have a few they prefer above the rest. That tells me the devs recognize that some killers will be less popular than others, and that it's okay. I see Singularity regularly, and the ones I face now are good. Sharp contrast to the first few days of his release. Some people put in the hours and it pays off.

  • Definitely not. Once in a blue moon I'll get survivors like that but it's not the norm and I haven't noticed an increase at all

  • I would assume not. It'd be too restrictive, especially for a full solo team. It would have to account for the killer and 4 other people in preventing each of them from getting the same map.
