I guess this throws out my plan of having an annual custom of making an alt on December 12 and just spamming my documentation of The Thread everywhere, huh.
Can't say I'm too surprised that the site I spent a literal THIRD of my life on (I was 16 when I made my account, I'm 24 now) is getting nuked. It's kind of just par for the course for me the year that has had it out for me specifically.
I was going to make a video about this (and honestly, I still might, but the script I have is kind of a bit ranty on personal tragedies this year and, while I think the context of why this is yet another gut punch is important, I also don't know how much anyone would want to hear about some nobody's misery), but I'll say something here for now.
I'm probably one of the last of the old guard, having been here almost since the Forum's inception. I was there to see Sluzzy. I was there for Orion getting his crown, and I was there to see him abandon DBD forever. I was there when @Fibijean lost their Trusted status. I was there when we all came together to honor @Cheers. I was there when we still had Awesomes (picture below for proof). I have seen just about everything that happened to this place. And now I'm here to watch it die. It's kind of poetic.

You claim that "user activity and engagement" has dropped substantially. Yeah, that'll happen when you ban all of the regulars and have a moderation policy that doesn't allow for strikes to decay, allowing someone to go literal years without issue, then get perma-banned because they were a troublemaker seven years ago.
I know this was a decision from the higher ups, but YOU are the ones responsible for the REASON the decision came down to begin with. Everyone was SCARED that anything they said would lead to a warning because there was never any clear idea of what was and wasn't allowed. The digital blood of this Forum is on YOUR hands. None of those other platforms will REMOTELY compare to what you had here, where you can actually sort things properly (only Steam has that, and even then… what good is that for console users).
It's disappointing, but not surprising. I miss what the Forums used to be. But I'm also pretty sure that died a long time ago.
You are 1000% correct in all of this, it’s so sad how over the years we’ve dedicated our lives to DBD because we love this game and to see a lot of our feedback and concerns for the well being of DBD didn’t matter to the higher ups. I’ve always tried to give BHVR grace because running a game is a tough job but when it comes to user feedback/discussions it dosen’t feel like our voiced weren’t valued at times.

I am gonna be real, I don’t really come on here anymore so I am very surprised someone remembered me. It means a lot <3
As for some of my favorites from over the years:
@GeneralV @glitchboi @QwQw @HaunterofShadows @Huge_Bush @Nathan13 @ReverseVelocity @MikaelaWantsYourBoon @C3Tooth @deKlaw_04
I just learned about the forums shutting down and I am super heartbroken about it. This place used to be a regular part of my day talking with people about a game I love. It really is an end of an era 💔
Love ya Gann!

No, it can go away forever.

I’m sorry to see the DBD forums go. It’s a shame to see a community that meant a lot to many people come to an end.
That said, I also think it’s important to acknowledge some of the issues that existed. There was a noticeable perception of favoritism toward certain users, and it often felt like not everyone was treated equally. The moderation was also, in my experience, poorly handled at times, which made the forum frustrating for some members.
Despite those criticisms, the forums were still an important place for the community, and it’s unfortunate to see them shut down. I’ll miss the discussions, the people, and the memories made there.
-
Sad that the forums are shutting down but I understand the reason why. See y’all on the other platforms and also the fog!!
-
I think Wraith is in a good spot right now he might be one of the best balanced killers.
-
some blood pumps are far away from the nearest blood gen, takes me too long to walk to a gen trying not to spill any blood but other than that the event is good.
-
Yeah I should be able to abandon once the gates are powered, especially if i’ve had a rough game like I’d rather just surrender and go to the next match.

I can totally understand why people will voice they would like to see more skins for less popular survivors. My three survivor mains have very low pick rates. I totally empathize. So while I may voice I would like to see more skins I also don't complain if I see skins for more popular survivors. The two points of view aren't mutually exclusive.
It's a balance. Of course it's understandable why Bhvr may prioritize those with a high pick rate but it wouldn't be that black and white otherwise we would only ever see skins for the top 10 characters. I think overall they are doing an okay job (could be a bit better) with releases. Afterall, we have over 90 killers & survivors so it's understandable not everyone will get a skin regularly.
Yeah to your last point i’ve been saying that in the future we’re gonna have a lot more killers and survivors so people are gonna have to hope that their mains get content.

Greed? Buddy, I dont think you understand that companies want and have to make money. And obviously, where do they make more money? When they create a new Sable-Skin or a Skin for the three Haddie-Mains out there?
@Topic:
I also dont understand it. Characters who dont look good are not popular and they will not get many skins, since they are not popular. Creating a Sable-Skin and a Haddie-Skin takes probably the same amount of time, workforce and money, just one of them is more profitable.
I mean, there was even a weird Haddie-Movement some time ago which resulted in her getting 3 or 4 Outfits in a row. And guess what - nobody plays Haddie anyway, since if the base is bad (and Haddie is really not pretty), no skin will really save that.
Funnily enough the same people who complain about Sable, Feng or MIkaela getting skins dont say a word about Dwight having way more skins than all of the unpopular characters…
And honestly, I hope the people will play the old woman Survivor they voted on in the Grimoire. Because if the community voted on her and then nobody plays her, the Devs will think twice if they want to make Survivors again which are not attractive.
💯💯💯

@ImWinston said:
- Kate p100 here. I really don't like Kate's cosmetics very much. I think Devs are doing a lot for her, but nothing exciting. For example, I see a lot of players using Taurie (definitely more than Haddie, Jonah, Orela and others), but they've made very few skins for her and no Rift.
I mean Taurie has only been in the game for little over a year and it’s not a common thing for newer characters to get much right after release.

@Wyndsor said:
I mean by your logic they might as well remove all male survivors from the game which would be incredibly boring.
BHVR makes more than enough profits, acting like they can't afford a few financial flops for the sake of variety is just making an excuse for their greed.
It’s not them being greedy though.

Yeah so I forgot to add the word 'some' to 'some people', that was my bad.
It's true they don't have a large playerbase to begin with, but there's also not a whole lot of incentive for other players to switch over to said character, because they don't get many (good) cosmetics.
I should also mention characters like Gabe, Haddie and few others have been getting a decent amount of cosmetics in the last year and I still rarely ever see them in my games.
-
@GentlemanFridge said:
It's kind of a self-perpetuating cycle, though.
People don't play certain characters because they don't get good cosmetics. And because people don't play them, there's no incentive to create more cosmetics, therefore fewer people will play as said characters.
I don’t think it’s because of the quality of the cosmetics, I think it’s more perhaps that the lesser played survivors are just boring to most people.

There is punishment for missing. You get slowed down, you lose distance, the survivor gains distance. Seems like a fair punishment to me.
yeah a survivor probably gains a couple inches of distance with a 3 second cooldown.

Because I ain’t ever afraid to speak my mind, even on things that might sound controversial.

Its an overreaction, it’s just one map plus there’s still plenty of safe loops in DBD.

P100 Sable main here, and I can safely say that there is definitely an "anti-Sable" agenda in the game.
I have been tunneled countless times, lobby-dodged and being called "typical Sable" at times if I had bad games.
You shouldn't judge someone based on the character they play. You never know if that Sable you dodged in the lobby was someone who knows how to run the killer for a long time, and someone who is a real team player. Not all Sables are the same, and this stigmatization has to stop.https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/1D3P72ZL24VW/sable-stats-alltime-24nov.png
my brother received a post chat message the other day saying “typical sable main” or player when he actually was doing gens and saving. I think a lot of it is people take DBD too seriously.

Well all Sables need worship.
I love the little goofballs. They are like kittens doing the most stupid thing they can find. On the other hand… I want to call her mommy…
I think a lot of Sable haters need jesus in their life honestly, this is only a game.

Last match with Oni Sable had more than 6k hours and, judging on achievements, all of them on survivors only. Oni wasn't even good, my first 2 chases with him last more than 1 minute both without hit. But guess who gave him first hit early and then went down from m1 killer on buffed Mac with pallet every 5 meters 10 seconds later? Guess who randomly run across the map while Oni was in power and went down for it? Guess who was healing when we need gens? Guess who gave Oni's power whole game?
I swear, in statistic Sable should have 90% kill rate, she is the strongest killer in my games.You’re probably just unlucky with Sables I guess, I’ve had good and bad teammates from all survivors but I’m not gonna generalize a whole survivor playerbase over this. And this isn’t just Sable being a teammate, but people don’t like it when she gets new cosmetics when she hasn’t received much stuff this year.

I played 12 matches yesterday and I didn't escape in 4. In 3 out of 4 matches Sable was just second killer. It's always Sable player who makes easiest match literally unwinnable. Do you see some pattern on these screenshots?

Again Sable is a popular survivor so you’re gonna have a lot of teammates that are playing as her, you gotta expect that not all of them are gonna be perfect.

Half the killer perks were nerfed or are useless. I’m not sure what you mean by this…
Fr killers get nothing but perks nerfed meanwhile survivors have so much more broken stuff.
-
survivors have plenty of perks to counter tunneling and slugging, we don’t need basekit anti tunnel or slug because it clearly won’t work.
-
Yes, all halloween outfits will return to the store but only during the Halloween event.
-
Jake not being part of the deep rift yet is ridiculous, especially as an OG survivor.

I only played to get this week's 'escape through hatch' quest done, otherwise I wouldnt get it done. So the extension ended up working out for me lol I am glad it's done though, hopefully my queue times improve now
It’s just so discouraging to play DBD when we have split queues like this. It’s cool to get quests done and unlock rewards but I get bored fast.

Yikes
-
I used to be against deep rift cosmetics returning but I don’t care if they were brought back for people that missed out.

Mandy confirmed here on the forums they worked their magic :)
I've only been playing Titans this go round as I've been waiting for this since the first 2v8 : 3
What do you mean by “worked their magic”??? Like the cosmetics are returning or they were only able to get permission to use the killer skins in 2v8?

@ArkInk said:
...they're gonna bring back my little oni with this, aren't they? Seems like such a missed opportunity if not.
Who knows, but I hope this is a sign of the cosmetics returning for people that missed out.

I just noticed this too, that never happens in 2v8 lobbies.
-
This is what I feared for the go next prevention that it was gonna punish players for actually trying to survive. This has to be addressed.

I just want to be able to leave without penalty when survs are sitting in the gate hoping I come so that they can teabag.

This is a start, but I’m gonna wait until we actually see the changes we need in DBD.

Hey folks. I totally hear your concerns here, but also want to give some background. Balancing is an iterative process that takes time to find a sweet spot, and this is very much another step in that process. To quote one of my favourite fantasy series', "journey before destination".
We 100% want to hear your feedback once you get a chance to play a few Trials with this new change, so please let us know how it's feeling. We're here to grab that feedback and make sure the team is made aware.
They’re useless just like map offerings, I don’t want to be forced to spend bloodpoints on something that I don’t find useful in a match.
-
I was okay with the first nerf but 2 charges is a bit overkill, the least BHVR could do is make add ons that give them 1-2 extra charges.
-
Nah they can just delete them from the game, I don’t want these wasting my bloodpoints.

I can make make sure that this is passed along to the team. Would it be possible to get a little more information about the matches in which you received "go next" warnings so we can better look into this?
Specifically, could you describe how the match went, approximately how long into the match were you tunneled, and whether any hook states were spread to other players during the period you were tunneled? Were you hooked first and then tunneled out before anyone else received hook states? With information like this, we can better understand what might be happening here.you guys never should’ve re enabled the go next penalty in the first place, I don’t know who’s genius idea at BHVR it was for this to be implemented again. This game is a hot mess.
