Nurse was not overnerfed. Her power literally breaks the game, of course she should be extremely difficult to use.

Billy, however, has been unfairly decimated. His add-ons needed changed, but are now borderline laughable. And his base kit... Damn. That's bad. He is far from a game breaking, ignore-everything killer like Nurse. Now he's reverse Oni, only without the superior mobility and 1-shot.

Yeah, Nurse was not over nerfed, lol.

I played a game recently against one and she had all 4 survivors down within less than 2 minutes. She's still, by far, the best killer in the game. Her skill cap is so high that only a few people can play her luckily.

    1. I never used insta heals because no skill involved.

    2. Toolboxes had too many charges especially commodious toolbox with speed addons, you never needed a brain to use a toolbox just hold M2 and do gens faster so fun!!!!

    3. It was so much fun having perks like discordance to pop up on the other side of the map just to get there and the gen popped so fun.

    4. God loops/infinites if you think they were fair and required skill to use...... I really don't have anything to say.

    5. And yet you can use 1 perk to remove the debuff called prove thyself.

Telling the other guy that he is killer biased and you are going full survivor biased.

If you really played killer then you would know that those things that got removed really had a reason to be removed but they made those things way too weak which is my only problem.

OldHunterLight, I was explaining to Dwinchester why he was being Killer-biased. He said the nerfs on Billy and Nurse were much worse than any survivor nerfs. I'm not going to explain the entire thread betwen Dwinchester and I. I think if you read the entire conversation, you would realize that your response doesn't make any sense in context to the thread.

I think you should do totems

I really hate when players say this because more people are not SWFs.

    1. You don't know how many totems have been done so it's always a gamble.
    2. You have to run Detectives Hunch to ever be sure, eating up a perk slow. Not a problem in SWF but in Single Player, you can't waste perk slots.

The better answer is wait for the killer to come to a door while hidden and leave. Then start doing the door. Also, survivors should split up on doors.

What did I say that was incorrect? Can you refute anything I just said, or do you just not like it? And for the record, I play both sides. Survivor has the advantage.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1432186#Comment_1432186

I do. Can you prove otherwise? Do you have any data that proves otherwise, or are you just trolling?

The nerfs you are talking about are on 3 killers. None of the other killers were nerfed and in fact 1 killer nerf is still in PTB, so it may not even happen.

Major Survivor Nerfs that Affect all Survivors, not just a tiny few.

    1. Insta Heals
    2. Toolbox Nerfs
    3. Smaller Maps
    4. God Loops removed
    5. Gen speeds nerfed when multiple survivors are on the gen (Minor nerf)

Remember that the Devs stats show all killers getting around a 60% kill rate in November. So the the games already killer sided.

There, you are Killer-Biased. Do you even play survivor? (I really wish people would play both sides before commenting).

  • @Dwinchester said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1432010#Comment_1432010

No, he's absolutely right, you don't have the time to not camp, not tunnel, and not slug. That's the problem with this game, you can't counter both the gen rush and the meta, because the meta is designed to counter the only counter you have to the gen rush. One hook mori is the only reliable way to beat a death squad.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1432018#Comment_1432018

The problem is the level of nerf. Yeah, they nerfed balanced, Insta heals, tool boxes, but nothing really changed how survivors play.

When they nerf killer, they gut them. Take ruin, it was an early game slowdown that might be cleansed fast. They changed it to a late game pressure perk that can still be cleansed fast. If old ruin lasted two minutes, you had value, if it's cleansed in two minutes now, totally wasted.

Nurse, they gutted her mobility, so it takes twice as long to cross the map. Billy is losing his mindgame, which is all he had.

    You are Killer-Biased.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1431978#Comment_1431978

That's fair, but I'm talking more about clear cut cases, like if the killer chases someone away from the hook, and then spots another person crouching in the distance and switches targets, and then repeated until the survivors hook rots

Well technically, that's not camping. If survivors are all around a hook, I'm not leaving as a Killer. If a killer can't find anyone yet stays close to the hook, then that's camping.

it survivor sided i play solo yea it hard sometime but i get out alot too.playing killer way more stressful then it should be.

The Devs data shows it being Killer sided for every killer. But not by much, it's relatively balanced on both sides.

However, playing Killer is much more stressful because there's a lot to juggle.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1431488#Comment_1431488

Because in game theory (actual game theory not the youtube channel) yiu want to balance around your best players because they are more likely to find ways to break your game. You can fix things at the low end of the spectrum but your best players can usually be far more efficient and find things you didnt intend.

Gonna quote a TF2 video for this one.

When the rocket jumper and parachute got nerfed its because in the hands of the best players, they could jump around the map and never get hit because the control was so good, at lower levels pf play it had a minimal effect because people didnt really use the parachute for air dodging, but it absolutley was used by the best most efficient players.

In DBD im going to use old ruin (just as an example) of low tier balance. You have a lot of survivor players at high ranks able to either power through the perk or simply remove it withing 30 seconds or so. HOWEVER, at the lower end of gameplay survivors that were unable to hit skill checks would get stonewalled until they could start landing skill checks and hunt totems. This caused players to learn and grow in the game. What happened is we balanced against the lower tiers of players, now it does not affect skill checks at all, removing the incentive to learn more about the game. Instead it was replaced with a totem that encourages finishing generators above all else and not letting them wear down. In red ranks this has about the same effect that it did before but made the lower tier ranks have a much easier time because there is less skill required to counter it.

A lot of the changes BHVR does are geared towards the lower end of play involving survivors, the problem this has is it is much easier for

    A. Survivors to get to ranks and prestiges where they are mismatched. And

    B. Makes it more difficult for new players to want to play killer. It is true high tier and tip tier players will be able to continue playing their favored killers, billy, nurse etc... But it disincentives new players to stay playing killer. Meanwhile it is easier and easier for survivors to pick up survivor and be good at it

TL;DR Balancing against the highest levels of play usually fixes bugs and helps players to naturally improve

The funny thing about this theory is how badly it failed when Starcraft II used it. That game became so hard for casual players because Starcraft II only balanced for the best player, that players left Starcraft II in droves. You can't balance for the best players or you exclude all other players and end up with the same problem that Starcraft II had.

Imagine if you balanced Dead By Daylight by the Depip squad. Every killer would be getting 4ks against all survivors except the BEST SWFs. Can you imagine how quick Dead By Daylight would be a waste-land.

That game theory is an amazingly bad idea, you balance for everyone. If there is something that only good players are using as an exploit, then nerf that but you can adjust game play for the best players without screwing everyone else.

  • @DrDeepwound said:

one phrase debunks your opinion with data and video evidence: "depip squad videos"

That does not debunk his statement, LOL!

Because 4 top tier players got together as a SWF and destroyed Killers, DOES NOT mean that every group is like that. It DOESN'T EVEN MEAN the above average group is like that. This is an AMAZINGLY disingenuous statement.

In fact, the data from the DEVs (The November stats) shows that the game is Killer sided for every single killer by upwards of around 10%.

What you could say is that Killer has to juggle a lot of stuff which makes it stressful for the killer, while the survivors have less stuff they have to juggle so playing survivor is less stressful.

What a load of bs. If you're going to pull statistics out of your ass don't even bother posting. The developer said on page one in red ranks ruin was used 80% of the time, meaning in other ranks it would clearly be used less. Also your logic 'you should be happy your perk got nerfed because now you're forced to consider other options!' should be applied to survivors. You say it's fun talking about nerfing perks but there will be a balance on the other side. Remind us, what was the balance when ruin was nerfed again?

Ok, so Ruin was used 80% of the time, which is INSANE. Also, I already told you what Killers got for the Ruin nerf, if you read, I said that Killers got buffs via reduced map size, god-loops being removed and slower gen speeds when multiple survivors are working on gens. I play both sides and as Killer I would MUCH rather have ruin nerfed and get 3 different awesome buffs. As survivor I hate the 3 nerfs survivors got and am only ok with the Ruin nerf, since Ruin is still very much usable. Trust me, Killers got the lions-share.

  • @CrowFoxy said:

If I'm not mistaken, a little while ago some guy did a test of like 100 matches and ended up concluding that perks like Adrenaline and DS, were used in almost every single match. Wasn't it in like the 70s or 80s as far as usage at high ranks?

I'm not even saying DS should be nerfed. But it does show that sometimes these perks aren't looked at in the same light and I wonder why.

Ruin was used 90% of the time at all ranks, if the killer had Ruin, it was going to be used. You should be happy Ruin got nerfed, because it opened up a perk slot and slowed down gen speeds when multiple survivors work a gen, made maps smaller and got rid of infinites. I would say giving up Ruin for all of that is way worth it.

What type of nerfs do you want to see on Killers if you get rid of DS and Adrenaline. It's always fun to talk about nerfing perks but you have to remember there's always a balance to be made.

Seriously, I struggle to understand how people who think like this manage to even enjoy the game. I'd be bored out of my mind if i had this mindset going into a match.

Whispers lets you know that survivors are in the area but Spine Chill lets you know if the killer is looking at you within an area)

I tend to use it on Doc to let me know that I'm in the right area

I combine Whispers and Infectious Fright on Legion as a back up

If the Whisper says "No" then the survivor isn't in front of you "Yes" means that there's a survivor in the direction you are facing (but again the survivor may be on the move already so it's far from accurate)

Wait the entity says "yes" and "no"? No way.

Number one, recognize that if a survivor goes down early that builds a lot of momentum for the killer whether he camps or not. Don't get downed early. If a teammate goes down early, tell yourself that the killer is currently "winning" the game and you will have to adjust what you're doing in response until you get the upper hand back.

    Number two, don't ignore bones.

Number three, maybe don't cluster at the exit gate. NOED punishes over-altruism and inattention at the end of the game. That is all it does.

Number four, if the killer is camping, recognize that the worst thing that can happen is for him to finish his sacrifice and immediately catch and hook someone else. Sometimes you have to adjust your playstyle in the same way that a killer has to react to what survivors do. Go immersive, don't get caught out. Know where he is on the map, and be on the other side. Abandon gens early if you need to - if you're doing totems along the way and he's camping (meaning he's not triggering Pop often), your progress is going to outpace his gen slowdown.

And Otz regularly 4ks whatever he does. You can't prove that a strategy is OP by pointing to the best and saying that it works for them when they do it. Yeah man - everything he does makes it very hard on survivors. Otz is OP, not the perk/strategy.

NOED is successful, camping killer or not, when survivors play into it.

Otz regularly gets 4k because he puts 4ks on youtube. When he used NOED, proxy camping and tunneling, he was making 4k after 4k after 4k streaming, not edited for youtube 4ks. The survivors literally couldn't do anything against the strategy.

If you watch Scotjund video, the one he says he's taking a break, he mentions something about telling the devs beforehand the new map was bad.

Which makes me think they got feedback from the map, and chose to ignore.

The new map is one of the best looking maps I've ever seen and I hope the Devs make more maps as gorgeous at this one. However, the game play on this map is a nightmare.

  • @Jesya said:

You literally can counter it every game......

Except in the situation the OP just mentioned, where the Killer camps survivors on hooks. If you do totems, every single one of the teams dies to a camping killer. If you rush gens, the camping killer uses NOED to get the last 2 survivors. Otzdarva did a full day streaming in which he proxy camped, tunneled and NOED and he won game after game after game. Survivors couldn't do anything against it. So yes, there literally isn't a counter for it which was proven by Otzdarva.

  • It's not OoO, it's 4 man SWFs. And you run into 4 man SWFs so rarely that it doesn't matter. SWFs aren't balanced. Just because they're running a perk doesn't make the perk unbalanced.

  • @VSchmitt said:

FiX tUnEllYiNg and CAmpING. Yeah man. Yeah. 'Cause killers still should be punished after a minute that a survivor was dumbly unhooked.

I not saying nerf killers. I'm saying, if you don't like DS then ask the Devs to fix tunneling and camping on killers. Otherwise, be happy that DS exists, because it means you can tunnel and camp to your hearts content.

Why cant their just be any ultra-rares on par with iridescent hatchets for huntress or myers perma-t3. They are supposed to be super rare, but they are just so bad for all the new killers, looking at you deathslinger, demogorgon and pyramid head, that they dont even warrant being used over greens/yellows and greys most the time.

Green: Blindness on target(s) for 45 seconds.

I actually kind of like this idea. I would say that the clown should have a bottle table that spawns, like Freddy's clocks or pigs traps, that allow him to change bottles out with other type of bottles. (I think the lockers would look weird with axes and bottles in them).

Nurse has much better mobility than Slinger and can use Infectious to move onto new targets in an eyeblink to take 3 people off gens via slugging. Her downs are consistently rapid if she plays her cards right. Slinger is not like Nurse. He's bedevilled either by his reload or his requirement to hit a 110 M1 every single chase with a healthy target, and by his lack of mobility, and most importantly by pallets, which he cannot down people over.

We know Deathslinger isn't as good as Nurse. I don't think any killer is as good as a great Nurse player.

Dont have time realistically to do all 5 gens and all 5 totems when someones being camped.

The problem with camping is you don't realize they are camping immediately. If you knew the second they hooked the first survivor, that they would face camp, then 3 survivors can make it out by doing gens. However, survivors have no way knowing that a killer is going to face camp until some time into the face camp. At that point, the killer is definitely going to get 2 survivors.

Every top player regards Huntress as better. Bypassing pallets is incredible, long shots are incredible. Deathslinger must either shoot you, hit you and then land a regular 110 M1,shoot you and then lose huge distance by reloading, or land a regular 110 M1 to open and then shoot you. He doesn't snowball like Huntress, who can simply hit two hatchets and drop you.

Almost no terror radius is incredible. Huntress has the lullaby no matter what perks she uses.

Quickscoping is incredible. Huntress has the windup that gives players a tell, that she's going to throw. You can even see when she's throwing. Deathslinger is instantaneous.

Long shots aren't incredible. They're eh.

I bet most high rank players will choose Deathslinger over Huntress.

  • @Mikeasaurus said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1396988#Comment_1396988

Exactly my point. Camp all you like as killer, but in the end, it just ruins the experience for the hooked survivor. They get to sit for 2 minutes watching as nobody is able to help. It's not fun waiting for up to 10 minutes in a lobby to be sent right back there because a killer decided they wanted to spend some quality time with you. Sure, a Killer will lose emblem points because of said camping, but what killer really cares these days? There just needs to be some kind of a solution found so that anyone facecamped to death can at least gain something from the match.

What the Devs should do is make it so gens repair speed is increased while a killer is within 5 to 10 feet of the survivor and increase blood points by 2 times while repair gens. This would stop face camping.

This also fixes the complaint of Killers, who are camping because of overly altruistic teammates sitting in view of the hooked survivor and killer trying to make unsafe saves.

  • Ok, how in the heck is Huntress rated an S and Deathslinger rated a B? That makes no sense. Deathslinger is the exact same as Huntress, except better in every way, except for 2. Iridescent Heads and being able to down someone over a pallet.

    1. Lower Terror Radius
    2. Quickscoping
    3. Shot drags you to Deathslinger, reducing looping
    4. Reload while moving
    5. Infinite ammo
  • @BubbaMain64 said:

M&A Deathslinger is probably one of the most annoying builds to go against. He doesn't really have any sound ques other than breathing to tell you he's nearby, which even by that point he's on your ass. Ghostface has footsteps, Micheal dry heaves and pig has her sheathing sound when crouching or standing up. As someone who plays him consistently and plays against him I can tell you he is a nightmare for solo-que. You cant use windows and you can't make distance against a good Deathslinger. While I think that killers with strong powers are fine as long as they have a high enough skill ceiling, I can't really say Deathslinger fits that criteria to a T. All it really takes is leading your shots and quick-scoping and you're set. And trust me it's really not as hard as it seems. Anybody with just a little bit of FPS experience can pull this off with moderate success. If you want to REALLY become a god Deathslinger do some sniping in Apex Legends. It's a free game that will teach you a lot.

I agree. Deathslinger with M&A is ridiculously overpowered. He's basically a stealth killer with range. Plus there's no way to know when to dodge his chain because of quickscoping. I've watched for him to shoot while running and you literally have no time to do anything with someone who quickscopes.
