Im gonna post the match so people like you stop posting dumb takes like this.

    "dumb takes"

Ah yes because saying there's no incentive in the current MMR system because there isn't is "dumb".

  • It's in the survivors hands, it only activates if they let it and only stick around if they let it. Its not overly strong and has base counterplay.

The only "problem" is survivors don't like it because they don't want to bother with totems, which isn't really a problem.

It's probably getting reworked soon anyway.

  • I mean, why would they? They have no incentive to stay and help besides to be "nice" which going by the BM amount, a lot of survivors aren't.

Even on the BP side you're risking the amount you get for escaping by going back in.

  • I disagree with toning it down in general for everybody, it is a horror themed game after all.

However volume options should definitely be put in, as should a bunch of other basic options we can't change for some reason.

  • Old Billy with instasaw? Yeah that's a no from me.

    Remove overheat? Sure.

I specifically said small maps. And it is common enough. Its really not hard to hit 4 people. You get a speed increase after each hit and you can hit the first person after they mend.

    "after they mend'

    Stop mending right away then.

  • I'm not a big fan of jump scares. It's a "cheap" scare if that makes sense. Regardless of what else is going on, you're going to make people jump just by reflex because of the sudden appearance of a loud noise or w.e.

I very much prefer genuine dread that's cultivated by the environment, sound design, ect.

  • I guess so, they cause more problems than anything because gens are already too fast.

  • I saw one Johnathan right before the ST license got sacrificed to the entity. Have only seen one other since.

VA did a great job imo and it was my first time hearing it, so I made sure to snag him before it got removed.

  • Adam: Every Adam I've ever seen, which thankfully isn't many, is super toxic.

Feng: Specifically the ones with the blue hair + mask cosmetic, always toxic. Must be using the mask to block their own fumes.

Steve: Just generally annoying when I play killer. Meddling kid that's always where I don't want him to be.

Ace: He just gives me creep vibes.

  • @EvilJoshy said:

Ive yet to see a survivor body block bubba or anything that is a one shot :P

Make forced penance 1-shot? It is an anti-body block perk.

  • I don't.

Its either 3 gen the part of the map away from the main building, or the survivors abuse the main building. If you're not an anti-loop killer that map is pretty annoying because the strongest loop is easy to access anywhere but from the corner of the map.

As survivor its hope your team doesn't 3 gen themselves and keep playing the same loop.

Honestly the main building is the main problem.

please remember the pig changes aren't live yet - it was tested in the recent PTB.

Yes I understand, but it should've been announced with the PTB then, not a week later due to "community response" (backlash) and because we supposedly aren't smart enough to understand or something.

I know its not your decision, or any one persons decision for that matter, but hiding information on gameplay changes is going to leave a bad taste in peoples mouth.

  • Ok thats good, but it should of been announced earlier, not hidden because "it was too complex".

  • Judging by the the map design still mostly favoring survivors and breaking totems being a perk and not basekit, nope.

  • Yup, I just let a survivor go because they got caught twice back to back at the beginning, then get t-bagged for it by said survivor, will no longer be letting anyone go for the remainder of the event.

It's a 2 way street, but survivors just can't resist being toxic.

  • Then you had half the chase to grab a tape. Considering how long it took, that should have been enough time.

  • @IlliterateGenocide said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2969451#Comment_2969451

Like I said i was mid chase. I had no possible way to remove a tape and transport it across the map.

The tape interaction is shorter than her attack cooldown, so you definitely can. You might go down after putting it in a TV, but at least you won't be moried.

  • Depends on what we mean by "kill rate".

DBD's current kill rate statistics take into account the entire playerbase and disproportionately favor/represents weaker players, where killers are strong regardless. That's why we have an ~ 50% kill rate despite killer overall being weak and Nurse having the lowest kill rate while Pig and Pinhead are up high. So in that case the game might actually be more balanced funnily enough.

If you mean in games with good players than no, it should be as close to 50/50 as possible.

I agree, but even empathy won't stop it as its empowered by the social perception that it will have this negative effect.

The solution is to disempower it as an offensive action.

That starts with people realizing that the BM only influences you if you let it.

I stated why it can irk me but I don't let that influence my fun.

People will always be jerks for no reason but if the tools they use to be jerks have no real consequence, then their capacity to be jerks is largely impotent and that starts with people collectively saying "meh BM who cares."

Yeah thats also true I agree.

  • @pseudechis said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2968878#Comment_2968878

Hook hitting never really got to me because it always struck me as thematically appropriate for leatherface et al to start carving me up after hanging me on the meat hook.

As for crouch BM'ing survivors its just silly, it only irks me because it can be immersion breaking and I play DBD for the horror theme nothing else.

Maybe you could just imagine they are pooping their pants at how scared they are of you?

But as a taunt its really silly, a stranger mashes buttons on their equipment adding wear and tear to it and RSI to their hands and I'm supposed to feel bad. Why not just smash their own keyboard and punch themselves in the face it'd have the same effect on me. EDIT : My point is its inconsequential so why let it upset you.

It doesn't bother me when its done to me unless its at the gate because at that point you're actually wasting my time. However like I said "Just because it doesn't bother you or me, doesn't make it ok for everyone."

Being empathetic is something this community needs more of, saying being a jerk for no reason isn't ok would be a nice start.

  • Mostly agree.

Just for BM, I would like people to advocate against BM more than for it because "muh fun at your expense" and saying "whatever its just a part of the game". Just because it doesn't bother you or me, doesn't make it ok for everyone.

Sportsmanship is still a thing and "fun" is no excuse to be a jerk to others just because. To be clear I mean things like T-bag and hook hitting that have no direct benefit and are basically just a middle finger.

So remove boons and exhaustion perks and buff regression perks?

I didn't say "remove", but if we just nerf DH and that's all it will just be the next strongest exhaustion perk taking its place, that probably being SB. Its just too valuable to extend the chase as much, easy, and as frequent as they do in the current form to not take them. Maybe not all exhaustion perks, but at least the stronger ones. If the devs want to shake up the perk usage, getting away from the "every build needs an exhaustion perk" is something that should happen. Just downgrade exhaustion from "necessary" to "good but not required".

Boons need to be able to be broken without a perk slot. Survivors don't need a perk and neither should killers to preform a basic option, that being breaking totems. CoH might need further tuning like removing the self heal due to its special situation of being placed miles away from the killer being optimal, but that would be TBD in this theoretical change.

    " nerf/rework the regression perks."

Yes that clearly says buff the gen regression perks. /s

No, gen regression has always been a staple for every killer build since inception, due to base regression being trash compared to survivor objective efficiency. So if we make base regression better, we have a lot more breathing room to change the regression perks without making killer basically an auto-lose in games with good players just because the survivors are holding M1 while someone else runs from pallet to pallet.

Alternative would be to increase killer efficiency to match survivor efficiency (and still change the perks) via something like map changes to get the majority of them out of the "survivor favored" category. While that would probably be a much healthier change overall, that would require a lot more work and is a lot more unlikely than mostly changings some numbers around. That also relies on the devs understanding the game enough when good players are present and as their recent actions have shown, such as the still mostly unbalanced maps, that is probably not the case.

  • Ok so, tunneling and camping are not "bad". They are effective strategies that work to help you win. You're basically saying "you tried to win how dare you!".

It'd be similar to saying "wow these survivors worked on gens right away and finished them, that's so scummy how dare they!".

Both sides are just trying to win.

Tunneling and camping suck and should be changed so that it's more effective not to. But it doesn't work that way right now, so as is right now, they are still good strong strategies.

Second off, you should be mad at your teammates for the DC. The killer didn't make them DC, they were just playing the game. The survivors however made the conscious effort to go "naw screw this team, idc about them I'm not having fun and my fun is the only one that matters." and to leave the match.

If you want to make the argument "well killer's shouldn't tunnel or camp since its not fun" you need to also agree that "survivors should stagger their gen completion since focusing gens is not fun".

  • Survivor: Boons, exhaustion perks.

Killer: Rework NoED please, strong or not it's unhealthy for the game/community in its current form. Give much better base regression and nerf/rework the regression perks.

  • Yes but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Also, as other have said, some people just don't understand the game.

It's also going to be really hard to make the "mains" have empathy for the side they never touch.

  • Just make both side be able to break totems base kit.

I guess they just don't want anyone to be even a little happier?

I'd be careful about putting words into peoples' mouths like this. I've had times where I saw somebody here on the forums argue one thing and I thought "Yeah, that's a good idea, I don't think it could hurt", and then somebody argued another thing and then I thought "Oh, I didn't think of it that way, yeah I can see how that would be a problem."

What is the problem with giving people the option to gift someone something the same way a ton of other games let you do? Not a single person who voted no even explained why.

I have never heard of anyone, ever, complain about a gifting option.

"Wow I can't believe they let me give things to others, disgusting." Wat.

    Also there's a "?" for a reason, I want some explanation.

  • I don't see why anyone would be against this. Confuses me why some voted no to just being able to gift people. I guess they just don't want anyone to be even a little happier?

  • They should take killer complaints more seriously, but survivor side has problems as well.

The community sentiment is that survivors are the side mostly listened to and we saw how many players left. If they listened only to one side it'd be even worse, killer or survivor.

Yes. I have pointed this out before as an example of the imbalance of the game, that on equal skill the survivors hold the advantage and often ends with a 4 or 3 escape depending on killer choices.

However, I know I'm just repeating myself, but having an advantage to fulfill a game's victory conditions DOES NOT DEFINE what a power role is. I'm, sorry this is semantics, I know, but I think it's important people realize there is a difference.

Anyway, thank you for your patience and willingness to argument in a civil manner, you are a gentleman or gentlewoman.

So what makes you definition correct and everyone else's not?

Isn't it more likely you're the one with the skewed perception of what a power role is if most people are disagreeing?

I would say survivors dictate the flow of the match, such as how fast it goes, how well the killer does, where the killer is ect. The killer has to follow the survivors around and (in most cases) wait for them to mess up. Survivors determine when someone gets saved. They determine when the EGC starts (usually), they determine what pallets get dropped when, they determine what gens get done in what order, they determine the general area where they go down, and they determine where chases take place and where they go.

That sounds like the power role to me. They dictate the majority of the match.

Shred is no different then hatchets. Most people hear/see you. To the point they either dodge their self in to the hit. Or commit and get hit. No problems getting shreds or chains.

Also...Nurse painfully telegraphs what she's doing too. Does it matter ? Nope

    "No different than hatchets"

Yeah let me just shred through this window, over this pallet, over this car, over this fence, or through this small gap in the wall/vehicle to the other side of the loop.

Also I guess huntress stuns herself when her hatchets miss.

  • With what? The hex that they'll boon over, Fearmonger for when they're on gens and don't care, Knockout when they're on the ground and don't care, or the underwhelming and weak add-ons that take-up a whole slot that only some killers even have access to that they can easily wait out?

  • If they're all good survivors, they'll all run you roughly the same, you're just wasting more time switching targets. Especially considering you didn't even generate pressure with a down.

I can see you, on top of all the other basic concepts you don't know, are not aware of the very simple reason it says 0h 0h, despite all the info under it. It's okay. I explained all of the other information to you, and I will explain this to you as well.

When in your profile, you select "keep my total playtime private despite public profile", the tracker can't track your total playtime. So it says all of the info about the matches played, sacrifices, bloodpoints, escapes... but it will keep the total playtime untracked. In my effort to continue providing you with objective facts, instead of baseless claims like you like using, I will provide you with my profile as well so you can see the absurd amount of hours I have (way too many I admit). I will uncheck the box to make my total playtime public just for you.

    Here is the link: https://steamcommunity.com/id/Sumnox/

Because you didn't know so many basic concepts before, I'm afraid you will not know how to find my profile through the link. Here's a quick guide in case directly clicking on it doesn't work for you:

    1. Launch your search engine of choice or a tab if it's already open
    2. Go to your search bar (at the top of your screen display)
    3. Having copy/pasted the link (click, drag, cover the whole url, left click, select copy)
    4. In your search bar: left click, select paste, then press the intro key.

This will show you my profile, and my total playtime.

Any further information you want, I can provide you until I get bored.

I don't use that website, I have no reason to know how it works when making a profile. You're still ash and bronze though.

You're still assuming what other people do and don't know and not listening to anyone else input.

The only "basic concept" you introduced relevant to the game was MMR, which I already understood. Not "so many" when it's literally none. For someone who critiqued hyperbole earlier, you sure do use it a lot.

Actually, if you read the thread, there's multiple people agreeing with me, saying similar or the same things with different words. I counted 4 after a quick look.

Let's also analyse this situation: If there is just 1 person who agrees with me, then your argument that "nobody agrees with you" is invalid. If nobody equals less than 1, it only takes 1 person agreeing with me to invalidate your statement.

There are two things you learnt today, after all.

You can assume all you want, based on nothing. I bothered to give you some objective proof I'm not new (I can't show you my MMR because nobody can, we don't have access to it). I provided you with all the facts I can provide you with, that's as far as I can go. Other than that, it was nice talking to you.

also your "proof" says you have 0h playtime and are ash and bronze, so you don't play a lot going by that. Like I've been saying, it sounds and looks like you're playing against low skill players.

Which is fine, there's going to be people in the lower brackets and you happen to be one of them.

All we learned is you don't know what you're talking about, you're inexperienced enough Legion is still good in your skill bracket, or you're in low MMR still for whatever reason.

At least you learnt something today. Have a nice afternoon though.

You just explained, poorly, how MMR works when I already knew how it worked on the assumption I didn't, there was nothing to answer.

Winning most games =/ Stuck in low MMR.

I don't think you understand how MMR works. I'll explain it to you. It goes by surviving as a survivor (minus hatch), and killing as killer (minus hatch). That defines how high or low your MMR is. Sadly, we don't have any objective website or tool to know how high our MMR is. I can just give some of my game info to indicate I'm not exactly new. Though of course that doesn't mean you're necessarily good or know how the game works (you for example, didn't know how MMR works until now that I explained it to you).

    In any event: https://dbd-stats.net/profile/76561198004130647

I knew how MMR worked you condescending doughnut. If you're winning with a weak killer the survivors aren't good or you're below the skill level you're supposed to be in.

Oh my god!!! in the name of Something!!11!1111111122345567

    Hyperbole and exaggerations aside:

    1. Their power was never meant to be lethal, and it can't be ignored. It gets you first hit in super quickly, and the second hit is generally a lot easier. Especially if you know when to snap out of feral frenzy.
    2. Fatigue was longer, and it still gave you plenty of time to normally m1.
    3. Cooldown wasn't atrocious, especially with addons. Same with duration.
    4. Addons were pretty good actually. Now they're even more.
    5. Base feral frenzy speed was enough to cover going from one side to the map to the other, and that's without addons.

They, in the name of Something, were a very solid B tier. Now you just see them everywhere because he's cheesy as hell, which to be fair makes for -really- boring and tedious matches, which I suppose is one of the many reasons why many people DC/stopped playing lately.

Anyway, let me add more over-the-top pointless reactions to give it the extra drama it apparently needs.

In the name of Jesus, how can you write the things you write1111???????????!!!!

    There.

Hard disagree, Legion was in contention for the worst killer in the game. But you haven't listened to anyone else so idk what else to tell you.

To me it sounds like you were just stuck in low MMR, as the only place Legion was "strong" is the same place other bad killers were, against bad survivors.

  • I mean, killer is fine as long as you play the top 5.

Outside of those yeah killer is trash unless you're in low MMR.

  • Top 3:

Killer to survivor efficiency changes. Make survivors objective slower or killer faster, rework/change the way hooks work so tunneling is no longer the most efficient all the time.

    Remove boons.

Perk tiers removed or another type of grind reduction.

I apologise, I was a little quick to jump to you countering my argument instead of adding on to it, which is something some in this thread have been doing. My bad!

I do disagree with your phrasing, though. I don't think killers need a method of fighting gen rushing, I think gen efficiency just needs to be lowered overall- be that through nerfing things that increase repair speed, or adjusting spawns so survivors can't be spread out one to a gen at the very start, stuff like that. The problem there is less a tactic that survivors are employing, and more the way the game's laid out in general, y'know?

Definitely, the killer side needs some help too, especially in areas that aren't strictly one-to-one comparable with tunnelling. A lot of it is more like... map size and layout, though, rather than specific tactics, so it'll be a more nuanced solution that'd fix it.

I agree with that as well, as those also address the issue in one way or another. We can either make killers more efficient or make survivors less, both can work as long as its done in a non-problematic way.

  • @jesterkind said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2940677#Comment_2940677

The fact that the killer side of the game also needs help doesn't detract from or counter the assertion that the survivor side needs help too. We can and should be talking about and advocating for both to get proper changes.

This thread wasn't about what changes killers need, or I'd have mentioned that myself. This is just whataboutism.

I wasn't saying that, I agreed and said the other side also needs help. Rude.

The thread contains both sides since OP included both sides. So both are valid here, not just survivors. The title is "why shouldn't killers tunnel?", not "Why can't survivors fight tunneling base kit" and they mentioned the comparison to survivors with gens in the OP.

Idk why you're yelling whataboutism when you're doing the opposite and trying to shut out killers needs as a talking point when the thread was about both sides from the beginning. If anything the thread was more focused on the killer portion that being the title and main question, yet now its whataboutism to talk about said portion?

  • @jesterkind said:

In fairness to survivors, they can't exactly do anything about a killer hard-tunnelling them unless they bring one specific perk, or hope that their teammate brought the other specific perk that helps against tunnelling.

Tunnelling is a legitimate strategy for killers to employ, but because it's a legitimate strategy, there should be a basekit answer to it. That's my view, anyway.

yeah, we also need a basekit solution to survivors tunneling gens.

  • Survivors camp and tunnel gens

    Killers camp and tunnel kills

Its just both sides doing their objective. I'm not opposed to helping against killers tunneling, if we also help against survivors tunneling.
