I think this might occur when the killer is hindered in any way - eg when the killer gets slowed down while using the power!
had this happen against Bubba and got both instances the first and second time I heard the chainsaw when he chased someone else

Du musst schon etwas genauer sein.
Welche Blutpunkte bekommst du nicht? Von Matches, nur Opfergaben, Daily’s, Challenges, Codes?
Wie viele Blutpunkte hast du derzeit?

Have you ‚claimed‘ them on Twitch after you unlocked them?
Try the linking again as well. I remember I had to go to the page again and even though at one point it said linked I had to confirm it still for whatever reason.. don’t remember where/how exactly though..
-
Switch actually was already confirmed to get cross progression. BHVR stated that they ran into ‚technical issues‘ and it will be postponed.
and now it seems like it will never come. And no real updstes from them as well 🫠 I bought the game on switch only because of cross progression being announced with a confirmed release month but well…

Because the feedback was already very loud and clear. I see the same members having to comment the same feedback again since their opinions weren't considered and no changes were made to these perks after PTB. A waste of everyone's time.
it has been stated before that changes based on feedback from PTB can’t be directly implemented until live release but is used for further changes down the line (eg the bug fix patches in the following weeks)
also, opinions do often change over time, initial reactions are often a bit extreme (I still remember how Power Struggle was said to be OP, and pretty much every chapter had at least one perk screamed about which then ended up being often underwhelming even though it never got any changes)
also keep in mind these forums are just a handful of people of the community. There is other channels where the devs get feedback from and all voices need to be heard and considered.
-
@Venusa said:
We already gave feedback in great detail for 3 weeks. I don't understand why we're starting from zero.
Why do you think it starts at zero?
initial perception and perception after some time/use can be different and is important as well. Also not everyone can participate in PTB and couldn’t give feedback based on actual gameplay but only from written text/watching content creators or worse, just repeating what they have heard.

balance by everything being strong is more fun than balance by everything being mid.
When everything is strong then nothing is strong and it will feel mid again. So you are way more limited in designing new stuff.
-
I think it is very likely that it loses the BP bonus, just because they want to be consistent with this (see BBQ, WGLF). I can understand the philosophy behind that, because I did feel ‚forced‘ to run these perks even on killers/builds where the other effect would really benefit me.
has Thrill of the hunt lost its BP bonus? I remember it got changed but do not remember that part,,

true, but I rather bring everyone else up than bring the top down.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3638001#Comment_3638001
then they are doing this backwards. basekit changes have a big impact, so starting with them and changing the add-ons later as needed would be the best option.
now the changes will be, add-ons, basekit, add-ons. which is more time devoted to blight instead of another killer.
That would lead to power creep though and I would rather not have every killer at Nurse/Blight level and have survivors then buffed.
though lower tiered killers do need to be brought up of course and not only high ones down.

Yeah, and Empathy is the third must-have for me, to find teammates who are injured and hiding behind a rock at the other end of the map so I can bring them back into the match to make it a 4vs1 again. Or excessively self-caring ones. Most would consider Bond the better info perk, but I love Empathy.
Gotcha, thx.
imo one out of Kindred or Empathy could be enough? But yeah it depends and having both is definitely great info if you are happy with only one slot for experimentation/variability.

@rha said:
Cool perks, they save me money (don't feel any motivation to buy the DLC) because there's absolutely nothing of any value here for me:
- Champion of Light is probably the best and good enough, but only for people who use flashlights (which I don't)
- I see zero reason why I would want to use Boon: Illumination because if I want to find gens Deja Vu is better and works without setup, if I want to loot chests I see the relevant ones (nearby) with Plunderers and get better items. Maybe not the worst effect, but definitely not worth the time to find a totem, bless it, and risk it being snuffed by the killer to repeat the setup time for too little value. As for the value of providing info also for other survivors, I doubt this info is appreciated/used a lot by teammates. The people I would love to get matched with would be perfectly able to play without this info. The bonus action speeds slapped on suggest that even the designers considered the effect a bit underwhelming. That doesn't save the perk for me though.
- Deadline is completely pointless on its own. For solo queue players like me who are dumb enough to listen to the whole forum advice "if you want to get a bit closer to SWF then just use perk X for Y and now stop complaining" I have three perk slots permanently locked in merely to make up being solo rather than SWF and only a single one available to swap out. Therefore I have no use for a perk that isn't helpful on its own but requires a second perk to bring synergy value because I don't have five perk slots.
For future perk design, it would be nice to have perks consistently reliable that I feel I'm getting value from without it being so broken that it's being complained about. Like old Botany before the nerf made it useless for solo queue and more of a pure SWF perk. It was one of my favorites and I would love to see a replacement for it in one of the next DLCs if you want money from me. I never saw anyone complaining about it.
I have three perk slots permanently locked in merely to make up being solo rather than SWF
just out of curiosity, which ones are these for you? (I would assume Kindred and WoO?)
-
there is no one there in the match that can report it and then create a support ticket with video evidence, so you will not face any penalty’s.
however it is in a grey zone and not fully supported/promoted by BHVR, as you are farming and getting things like achievements, challenges done through it. If that was wanted, you would be able to get these in custom matches but that’s not the case.
-
Champion of light is in an okay spot I guess.
Boon: Illumination could use something more. I liked the suggestion on another forum user during PTB, to show the progress of the gens with the color intensity of the aura?
Deadline also needs something to be useful without Autodidact to justify its downsides

NOED is still can be problem if survivor hooked next to it.
And i don't know how Adrenaline is problem, especially in current meta where it's more rare to see end game. Yeah i am not fan of this and probably they will nuke this perk to ground.
Like how even they will nerf it? No heal will make it just pointless.
In current meta it’s rare to see end game?
how do?
Adrenaline can be problematic in a coordinated swf, they know they can tank hits shortly before last gen pops without any downsides, as killer it is fairly frustrating to have 4 survs injured that suddenly are all healthy. Without Noed this can and does turn a potential win into a 4 man escape.
-
@MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:
Why Adrenaline is here?
This perk is only works at end game and only for once.
And you need to finish gens or you need to stay alive as last survivor.
This perk does not need any nerf. Only change it needs is that: It should not make you wake up against Freddy.
Seriously why this perk is here?
Are we going to nerf NOED, NWO, Blood Warden next?
To be fair. Noed got a fairly noticeable nerf with the aura reveal and Adrenaline is stronger than NWO or Blood Warden especially on coordinated SWF..
I am actually kinda surprised.. like… people actually didn’t think Adrenaline would get looked at with its state in the meta?

Probably because Swamp is part of the Realm Beyond. Which is not featured on the Roadmap.
I don’t like these split roadmaps where you need to be up-to-date with what may be included and what could still be included but just not mentioned here

Kinda expected Adrenaline to be looked at sooner. Nice to see some more niche perks also getting looked at though.
-
Most of the meta perks are available on the free/base survivors. Though which version do you have? Base characters vary between versions (Steam only has up to David King I think, while PS/Xbox have Min and others, Switch even has all up to Kate)
i would recommend looking into the survivor you like aesthetically the most as perks can be gotten from shrine and as said, most important ones are free.
If you are only looking for perks though if you are still new and don’t have her already, Kate is a great beginner character - Windows perk is great learning and still gives great info even on higher levels, Min is also a good choice with Lithe and Alert, even Technician can be useful if you struggle with skillchecks though its best to not rely on it.
Mikaela brings nice boon perks, not meta (anymore) but still nice to have - if you don’t overcommit on having them setup if the killer continuously breaks it. Also she has great selection of cosmetics in the store.
-
You have to contact a mod directly, only they can change it for you.
though keep in mind you can only change it once, after that you are stuck with that new name
i have flagged your post so a mod can reach out to you

We won't be adding further new icons for quite some time - we're already at our limit
Also, there's no plans to add anything that's licenced, so no legendaries either I'm afraid.
Wasn’t the plan to remove most of the existing ones (ie the perk icons) to include at least most of the characters (except for specific licensed ones)?
-
cursor movement and (iirc) skillcjecks are clientsided so it shouldn’t be a matter of network lag not his case.
however, it may be just input lag between controller and console which may be affected by distance in case of wireless controller connection (can your friend try wired controller?), interferences by other wireless connections etc like smartphones, and possibly also the console performance as is (maybe older console, full memory, apps in background open?)
performance on console and especially last gen consoles is known to be pretty poorly optimized for DbD. This can be an issue of FPS alone for example and… it’s frustrating and no solution is at hand really…
hopefully the devs will finally focus more on optimizing the experience on all provided platforms *as they have promised to do*
-
You can’t. There is no cross progression available between XBox and Windows store versions.
maybe it will come in the future though there is no guarantee and BHVR stated that they want to provide it though it’s not for them to decide it as the platform holders (in this case Microsoft) has to give their explicit consent.
-
I could be wrong but I think Ormond and Haddonfield have actually not been found yet at all by anyone (at least not widely known in the community) though maybe my info is outdated on this..
as to info/tips from the devs: haven’t seen them reply on these kinda questions. Though maybe you could try in a future Reddit AMA (as I think these kinda questions are actually suitable for this instead of ‚please nerf/buff x‘)

If I recall what one of the devs/lead techs said once in a Q&A stream...
They said that they want to keep backgrounds tied to current events in the name of keeping the game "alive" and dynamic.
Not those exact words but it was the gist of it.
This does make sense. But I think it would be cool if like new releases/events „force“ that new lobby for like a week and after that it goes back to choice.
could even make them ‚earnable‘ - licensed once/chapter related obviously by purchasing the DLC or at least one character - and freely available from release until next major release. Event related once earnable by playing during event.

OP is not talking about the 3-Gen solution itself affecting matches, but the 5% Regression for a Gen-Kick which comes with it.
Yeah, misleading title which I wanted to point out..
5 % regression is a buff, sure. though to be fair, I think it does need settling to see how it will actually affect matches, and the devs (iirc) never stated this won’t affect normal matches?
-
Didn’t they say they aim to not have it affect normal matches?
Gen-tapping was also being complained about forever and was really just no risk for too much reward for survivors. And having gen kicks be more effectful was also something asked for outside of 3 gens..
imo, these are good mechanics that needed to happen years ago
-
There is probably more players than those that you consider the dedicated players or that share only your opinion.
also they confirmed that Onryo will get further changes down the line

We don’t actually know what’s the reason.
I mean, it’s pretty safe to assume it’s about money and Sony/Microsoft can’t get to an agreement with BHVR - but that’s still an assumption and it would be on both sides to some degree.
instead of blaming anyone, the community could also start to, idk, don’t blame but instead express their disappointment/frustration in a constructive way?

It's not an unpopular opinion. It's critically acclaimed, so it's a hot topic for the industry which is why journalists talk about it a lot and why collabs are happening.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3634387#Comment_3634387
I am happy about Alan Wake DLC but i can understand why people are disappointed. It wasn't a popular request. I personally never heard of Alan Wake until i saw it on PS Plus monthly games. I think most people did not play Alan Wake 2, considering the first one was in 2010.
A lot of people don't find his appearance appealing as a skin and his perks are not popular. So if you don't like or know or are not interested in Alan Wake then you probably won't like this DLC at all. I think a lot of people are in that position.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3634423#Comment_3634423
The DLC being something that a lot of people don't like means they have to wait longer for one they may like. We don't know when the next standalone survivor will be so for people that want Elvira or maybe another real life survivor, they don't how long they will have to wait.
But it’s not like there was a designated spot for a standalone survivor that was to be filled as far as we know.
survivors can be added more frequently as we have just seen - we got two standalone survs (Cage and Alan), while two two-surv chapters were pretty recent (Lyra, Resident Evil).
they never knew how long they had to wait for Elvira or someone else before. It’s not the fault of Alan Wakes inclusion at all and hating on a character because of that feels super weird when you know there are many others happy about this inclusion..

This is true, but in my opinion the game is oversaturated with survivors. We have too many survivor perks, most of them arent all that good. We definitely didn't need an original double-survivor chapter last year (could have simply been a legendary skin) and we don't need extra survivor chapters either.
It probably would have been better if we we got Nick Cage as the counterpart to Chucky, and saved Alan Wake for a full chapter with a killer.
Oh completely agreed on that.
double survivor chapters aren’t really necessary at all, see Cheryl and legendarys. But especially the Lyra siblings -while very cool designs- feel super unnecessary and the few perks that are interesting from them (well. Only Backgroundplayer which needed a complete overhaul) could have gone to someone else.

People have been acting weirdly bitter over a half-chapter. I don't really understand it either.
It’s not like the devs decided to now bring Alan Wake over another license… like.. it’s not ‚either or‘, it’s just one addition that is not taking a spot as we don’t really have finite spots at this point…
-
Got the games in a sale a few weeks ago. Haven’t played them yet and am kinda excited.
Dont know why it got so many ‚haters‘ that don’t even know anything about it? From everything I know about it, it’s a pretty good fit for DbD.. and getting a killer added later would also be a good precedent. (Though I think L4D will still not be considered to get new content because no monetary gains, right?)
-
In the last Reddit ama they confirmed this is something they will be looking into - though haven’t confirmed if or what they are gonna do about it. But it’s definitely brought up to their attention..

Thoroughly enjoyed the read, I believe @C3Tooth is on to it though. My theory is that the camera is set on the killer at a location that feels right to play for that killer, with consideration of their actual height being secondary. The conclusion is flawed if the camera is not consistently placed in the same place on each killer.
E.g. Ghost Face has to crouch with his power, and still be able to stalk without things blocking him often, so I imagine his camera is set higher to reduce your stalk getting blocked by grass, etc.
What you need is a similarly impassioned soul to join you and snap the heights from the survivor perspective. It would be really interesting to see how far off the camera is relative to the actual height for each killer... Then the evidence can be truly irrefutable... 😁
There would still be the issue of model-height and in-game height difference.
iirc Hag is average despite being small in-game and having the lowest PoV because she is crouched/bent and her actual model is bigger..
this does make the info of the killers height in their description very questionable though as it is kinda misleading..

Maybe I'm just getting old but what is funny about it? It's not like you can see the reaction of the person going for the unhook.
The funny part is that you know they are upset - they did come for the rescue after all and you deny them the unhook (which they might need for daily, challenges, emblems, perk activations or something else).
meanwhile you gain nothing but 1.5K BP and an animation that not more fun then normal unhook animation.

https://docs.unrealengine.com/4.27/en-US/TestingAndOptimization/ReplaySystem/
And yes, DbD is using Unreal 4.27
There is no excuse to not implement it aside from "It would cost money", which is the main reason for BHVR to not do things like cross-progression (as they would have to pay Sony and that's why they were asking if you would not mind your DLCs not crossprogress).
That's it. That's the only reason. And even if it wasn't, just a reminder that BHVR is a company with 1300 employees that recently recieved and investment from NetEase with a movie incoming among other things, so it's not like they are short on resources to do whatever they must.
I thought everyone understood that money/resources were the main factor why something couldn’t be done.
but you almost act like BHVR has unlimited money and just doesn’t want to do it - which is not the case.
these employees you mention have an income, services need to be paid, and the question is if something is worth the resources - and you don’t know if the implementation of the Unreal Replay System is that easy for an existing game like DbD when it is fully known it was never intended to become this big and the code is a convoluted mess… (and pretty sure it was implemented on an older version of Unreal and ‚only‘ upgraded to 4.27 which may also be a big factor in it)

-
No there is no cross progression between XBox and windows store - even when it’s the same service/platform holder.
its not known if it will ever come though BHVR stated they know the community wants it and it’s out of their hands at this point..
-
I think there was an iteration of Freddy that wasn’t so bad as the F-Tier one everyone remembers. Apparently the Release version was stronger and nerfed because of feedback heavily.
I haven’t been around then so can’t really tell if that actually would work/fix some of the issues but I think everyone agrees that the F-tier version shouldn’t come back the exact way it was.
imo, a version incorporating the best of all iterations would be great: Pulling survs to sleep, but also having them fall asleep on their own on a more randomized timer (that also shouldn’t reveal who the killer is at the very start), alarm clocks and awake survs being able to wake up sleeping ones, teleportation though I think that could get some QoL adjustments as you are way more limited compared to better tp killers , etc.
-
I think the dev need to mark the thread specifically, not just reply to it

So you are telling me they changed fog for better performance on old consoles which is failed and we just lost old fog for that?
Sounds like average BHVR honestly...
I don’t know if it failed.. or if it was the only reason. Maybe part of the reason was also that the community is so against stealthy gameplay which got encouraged by better fog
-
@MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:
Old maps was so much better. I honestly would prefer they never rework them. They maybe did not have great graphics but atmosphere was so much better.
Also old fog.... I don't know why they changed it
Pretty sure they changed the old fog because of last gen console performance.
though if that actually helped idk..
-
Yun-Jin had some talent and did music herself as a kid (played piano and sang iirc). It wasn’t enough to become an idol herself though apparently enough to become a big producer..
not sure about Jeff playing himself, but at least he is a metal-head and he is artistic..
-
I am in between.
i do like the overall atmosphere of older DbD (better fog, darker, depth of field)
though I did not like the colored tints and I do prefer current asset/texture quality etc.
also the idle stand of the survivors now seems weird..
-
they obviously want the BP for themselves and deny the BP for the one coming for the unhook while they think they get off hook anyways. It’s selfish and in my experience reflects that way in general gameplay (sandbagging teammates, not tanking hits etc).
usually using the ‚it’s Fun‘ arguments when.. the fun only comes from possibly taking the BP for themselves without another benefit or actually any interaction at all that could be actually fun.. (it’s obviously something else with SWF mates)
worst kind are those with Deliverance doing this, intentionally wasting the time of the surv team for trying to get the unhook
