  • That may very well be true.

but it did sound like „representation is nonsense if it comes from corporations“ followed by an example of a corporation doing representation on one side but acts differently on the other side.

since you wrote it here in the discussion about representation in DbD I assumed you were comparing BHVR and Sony...

well, regardless, my point was „representation is not always nonsense just because it comes from a corporation“.

  • They stated they dont plan to rework or even tweak Legion in the near future. And they said Legion performs pretty balanced compared to other killers according to their statistics.

I understand and to an extent agree with you.

However, I have to say, actions speak far louder than words. I appreciate the developers making their stance clear on Twitter but it's not really worth anything if it doesn't translate into any actual support for the LGBTQ community. So far we don't actually have anything tangible in terms of representation. I've seen companies make empty promises on so many occasions.

I was thrilled when BHVR announced their support but the amount of homophobia I've seen both in-game and on social media is sending me a different message.

at least in-game the report button can be used and I am sure BHVR acts accordingly (assuming you meant homophobic endgame Chat etc.)

They really shouldn’t go all out on it also, you can even now see people that say they are LGBT+ having a problem with that little tweet saying they won’t exclude LGBT+ topics anymore.

But yeah I personally agree that showing more support can’t really hurt.

  • While it can be annoying, in most cases it really doesn’t matter and you can play around that, bring yourself in a better position before the hooking

  • „Horse-flesh“ is just such a specific flavour description that they must have meant Maurice 😢 very cruel..

i will take one pain then.

I'm sorry but I don't see this thread as respectful at all.

It's rooted in the same anti-LGBTQ rhetoric that gets brought up every time an LGBTQ character is represented in media.

People are claiming they preferred leaving the character's sexuality and past relationships unconfirmed so players could make up their own story. However, if this were true, then where was the outrage when The Nurse was confirmed to have a husband in 2016?

People are also stating that representation is an agenda, a political statement, shoving it down their throat, pandering, toxic etc. But why is it that Frank and Julie's relationship, The Nurse's marriage, Dwight's crush etc aren't held to the same criticisms?

BHVR claims to be an ally to the LGBTQ community but the fact that homophobia like this is allowed to exist on the forums suggests otherwise.

As someone who has supported Dead by Daylight for 4 years, I'm disappointed to see such a response from the community.

I apologize if I have came across as rude or blunt, I'm just tired of having to disassemble the same hateful arguments time and time again.

To be fair, many direct anti-LGBTQ comments were deleted and I guess the users warned/banned/whatever.

and the responses from BHVR on the hateful tweet-comments did show their stand pretty well.

but I have to agree, I am also pretty disappointed by the community. But sadly I am not surprised.

  • Wouldnt Clown be worse too, since you have to throw your bottles? I mean it doesn’t need to be as precise as Huntress but still...

What's the benefit of prestige if it only gives the bloody outfits?

Some say you get rarer items/offerings in the bloodwebs but I don’t think that’s confirmed

also in the Q&A before the anniversary stream the devs said there might come new prestige rewards! Nothing else was said about it though.

  • Yeah. He is licensed and originated from the videogame „Left 4 dead“

  • Not for me. But i never played any Silent Hill Games and just have no connection to the chars.

also I have not purchased any cosmetics for aura cells because it was never worth it for me...

  • @Valor188917 said:

All this representation is nonsense when it's coming from corporations, there I said it.

If you don't value representation over money then it's not worth anything for you. it's the same with sony celebrating LGBT while sony Saudi arabia...yeah you get the point

It’s not nonsense if there are some people happy about the fact they can relate to the char.

but in DbDs case I really think they want to make realistic and natural characters and that does include LGBT+. It’s really shouldn’t be such a big deal. With the amount of lore we are getting with new characters and tomes it was bound to happen so that the lore has more variety.

There are some extremist who want to be considered at all cost. These annoy me. They are like the vegans who want to want to be like them,by telling me that I'm a murderer. Such people do more bad than good. And sadly they are the loudest.

There doesn't need to be a quota. But suddenly having many LGBT people everywhere only to appease is quite unrealistic. I can understand you want to be considered. I'm not asking you to "be quiet" or similar. Just.... try to see that some people really get annoyed when getting spammed with other people's needs.

What is your problem with characters not having a specified sexuality? For me Ace is gay. Period. Is is not written in his bio. For others he is hereo or bi or Trans. It doesn't matter.

Not to define the sexuality of characters is the best option, in my opinion. No one is insulted or forgotten because their gender/sexuality isn't included.

not mentioning any sexuality or relationships would have been okay and was actually what they said they wanted to do. but they did mention hetero relationships. So now they made a little tweet saying they see their mistake and will act accordingly: not exclude LGBT+ relations/themes.

thats pretty much it. No one should have a problem with that. They didn’t say they will make a new symbol next to every characters name that states their sexuality. No one here demanded that every chars sexuality has to be revealed.

  • @Mozzie said:

I find it obnoxious this over indulgence to represent a people in an extremely small bracket of civilization. We really don't need LGBT in ever facet of culture. Nobody cares about your 'lifestyle', we're just tired of seeing it all everywhere. Get over yourselves.

The devs made it clear that they are inclusive and don’t want to exclude LGBT+. And that extremely small bracket is not as small as you might think. It’s not all about representation but just about not-exclusion.

if you are not okay with it in DbD you can just stop playing it.

you could also just not let it affect you, it’s really as simple as that. The lore in this game is really something that doesn’t get thrown at you.

So you can basically only crossplay with the PC? While playing on PC?

Yeah that’s basically the current functionality.

but they will add crossplay for pc and consoles sometime later this year.

  • @USELESS said:

Actually, you already can play with someone on other plataforms, the only one that can't crossplay is the mobile, but PS4, switch and PC can all play together already

    That’s not true..

Steam and another pc version (windows store i think) can play together.

you can turn off crossplay in the settings, it’s turned on by default

I don't doubt it. However I will say that in probably 9/10 matches as killer there is some sort of legitimate toxicity from one or more survivors whereas it feels like the opposite when I do play survivor.

I'm not counting irritating gameplay "toxicity" from either side (camping/tunneling/genrush/bodyblocking), just the overt taunting and foul end game chat stuff. Granted, I play a lot more killer than survivor so maybe that's not the case - but I am also a lower ranked survivor and never see a red rank killer, while as killer I see red rank survivors every game (which is where 99% of the toxicity comes from).

I don't know if that dynamic changes and full red rank games are just complete cesspools on both sides, but I can say that I can't wait for matchmaking to weed these guys out for me.

Trust me, at least on the foul end game chat killers will go all out.

i know that survivors are not better, and you will have a higher chance to see survs acting toxic because there are 4 per match and they can back eachother. But that does not mean that most of the killers are nice guys.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1386510#Comment_1386510

I agree with most of what you said, but most of the time, I can't even face half the killers in the roster. Right now, all I see is Billy, spirit, huntress and pyramid head over and over.

Yeah, that is a problem and can make the game pretty stale. But I do get a good variety of killers! There are surely more of those you listed but I guess I do see pretty much very killer once in a while!

  • @MusicNerd_TC said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1386391#Comment_1386391

The thing that makes killer kind of fun, is that there are a lot of different powers for the killers and playstyles, while all survivors are the same. Maybe since I solo queue I don't have as much fun.

As survivor you actually have to play against those many different powers, which may alter the playstyle immensely.

also not being a pro looper kind of helps me because while I can have fun chases that may even last long enough, I am not in a position where the killer is no threat for me (and neither are my always changing teammates in solo q). If it was as terrible as the forums make it out to be, I wouldn’t ply either role. Ever.

  • I thought it was a Silent Hill thing, it’s not??

  • @1nsignia said:

Yeah I dont even have my claudette cosmetic?

Claudette is not out yet, just the Deathlinger head cosmetic.

  • Apparently you don’t get informed about getting the cosmetics and they are just there?

check your Deathslinger cosmetics, it’s also uncommon rarity or something and not event rarity.

  • Welcome to Solo Q. i had the same experience using After Care.

maybe use Perks like Bond, Empathy or even a broken key with addons so you can find others but you don’t reveal yourself.

  • why is everyone focusing on the camping part? As I understood it, that was just an example where the Entity could interfere with the killer as it is now interfering with survivors (blocking a window after 3 times vaulting in chase).

  • Many survivors don’t like to farm though.

and then there are those that understand and actively try to not give you anything but they are making sure they get as much as possible (had to farm for one of the legion challenges and I am terrible at playing legion) [fun fact: the surv wrote in chat they just don’t like farming, but had an alt steam name saying „please farm“]

best way is really trying to play normally, don’t camp or tunnel and after 2 hooks ignore them/ slug them if you encounter them again. That way you can improve you game and it should be somewhat fun for most.

  • Lol

its really funny how always the survs are the bad ones in these forum stories.

meanwhile i had a Myers that didn’t try anything and I figured he wants to farm, turns out he REALLY liked to grab me from gens, so I thought he had a challenge. Then last gen popped, i got a crown and was happy to get my cosmetic. he downs me and camps me in the basement. I let him grab me 5 times.

guess what? There is scum on BOTH sides.

  • They have been hyping it up? I thought we just learned about it during the live stream (and maybe some days before that through leaks)

but well, is anyone really surprised that there are bugs?

  • @Kai6864 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1378781#Comment_1378781

Actually you get 1,500 bloodpoints in the Survival category. I try my hand once if someone is coming to get me but that does not make me a “toxic” player or “inconsiderate”.

There is a 4% chance right there for me to escape that hook, 1/25 games will I get that Kobe. I don’t attempt with the intention of stopping someone of getting points... what else can I do on that hook? I just happen to not get that 4% and now I’m left to reach second hook stage- that isn’t going to help you or me, that is an unhealthy way to go about it and could lead someone to not save you while you’re on the hook.

I’ve seen it happen, one person spams unhook and doesn’t fully unhook the person so no one rescues the spammer from the hook.

If you “ran from the other side of the map” like you said, then it’s more likely that they wouldn’t want to risk kobe-ing because the timer would below 2/3rds anyway. Your example seems a bit exaggerated.

Just attempt the Kobe before someone is literally 2 m or less away from you, but if you really wait until I am there that’s unhealthy.

  • @PlaysByShady said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1378718#Comment_1378718

Because it was completely unnecessary and selfish to do it when your rescuer-to-be has left their objective and run across the map to rescue you (and be rewarded with points, etc). You literally gain nothing from the kobe, so it's only done out of inconsideration of the other players, and that's what's annoying.

    This.

i have done this (waiting for second stage when someone tried to Kobe right into my face) but only if they have been toxic/anti-mates before (eg making noise next to me)..

  • That’s not what @DeadHardMan tried to say though. They just meant, don’t add it randomly to an existing character.

having a drag queen (cosmetic) for a character where it fits would destroy the atmosphere as much as other cosmetics: not at all.

  • What is your problem? This is a thread about Drag Queens and you are posting a pic of a normal woman minding her own business?

  • @Veen said:

Since when a mascot outfit and a bunny hoodie are associated with furries.

I do not know anything about furries and that was kind of a joke.. but isnt furry all about people dressing as animals?

    whatever floats your boat

It doesn’t float my boat. I don’t even care for drag cosmetics or drag characters, I just can’t stand those ignorant insults..

  • @Huff said:

I just want new interesting characters whose whole design isn't solely comprised of one superficial trait they have. That's the best kind of character to me.

They could add a char that has some Drag cosmetics but some „normal“ everyday clothing as well.

just look at Jeff and his Black Metal cosmetics; it’s a part of him but not pushed into every cosmetic he owns.

  • @shinymon said:

With them freeing the restrictions of previous event cosmetics recently, how do we know if they'll just end up doing the same with these crowns? Why put effort into all characters one by one if they might just give them away again?

they said they won’t do with future event cosmetics because their system is now more stable and it shouldn’t be possible to lose your obtained stuff.

  • If you are experiencing the bug, I guess you should file a bug report (there is a forum section for this)

give as much information as possible so the devs can try to recreate it and find the actual cause

  • @Actionjacksn said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1378475#Comment_1378475

But why they wrote than that they fixed it if they don't? They guessed they fixed it?

They may have fixed some causes but not all of them, but they thought they covered all because they couldn’t find the remaining causes.

    thats only my guess though.

  • @timbologna said:

you're right, it was factual, however the very last line you wrote was opinion, not fact.

    No it wasn’t.

no one says they are a drag queen but they don’t want anyone to notice.

you are confusing this with crossdressers (I guess that would be the right term)

  • It’s a bug and even though they thought they fixed it (hence the patch notes) it’s still here. They probably fixed some but not all causes for this bug. It’s not like they accidentally wrote a line of code saying „surv slugged->surv silent“ and they can just delete this to fix the issue.

  • you don’t have to agree with it. It’s a fact.

and this should tell you that being a drag queen doesn’t have anything to do with being homo- or bisexual. Or even trans. Or anything about gender identity.

  • I really hope I don’t have to do it for every single character o.O

  • @timbologna said:

why are they called drag queens then...

What does the name even have to do with this?

yeah drag queens are men dressing up as women. But over the top. They don’t want to be seen as women. They want to be seen as drag queens. They are not trying to look natural or that no one notices they are not really women.

  • @Deathslinger said:

Well, my tiny opinion is this is as dumb as signifying everyone’s sexuality. A good drag looks like the other gender, if your not willing to put in the effort to reach that level then your just a wannabe who likes the attention of being recognized as a gender pretending to be another gender. So you either put in a character that looks 100% female or male and just staple on a notation that it is Drag or you might as well just give a wig cosmetic to the guys and a fake mustache cosmetics for the ladies.

That’s not what drag is about. They don’t want to be seen as the other gender, dressing in drag is a performance art (as already mentioned in this thread)

it has nothing to do with the sexuality or gender/gender identification of the person.

  • @Todgeweiht said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1378028#Comment_1378028

Yes, men dressing up as women and doing sexual gestures and dances has absolutely nothing to do with sexuality.

The dressing up doesn’t have to do anything with sexuality though.. or if it is then men dressing as men and women dressing as women would have to do with sexuality as well and.. yeah, you get the point.

sexual gestures? I didn’t know that’s something drag queens need to do (but I don’t know much about drag..)

but be assured, they will not add sexual gestures! They even said they don’t want to add any more gestures at all

  • @timbologna said:

it's not gay! don't you and the homies enjoy a ice cold one then throw on 7 inch stillettos while doing eachother's makeup??

I understand his point. I just found it to be bad and funny.

    Yeah you didn’t get it.

and talking about bad and funny: I read your first post in this thread.

  • That was an odd decision but they still can get it. It’s their decision to not get Kate, if they don’t have enough shards now they can unlock it later when they have earned enough.

and if you don’t want to play the game to get the lore... just look it up in the internet.

  • I really don’t get all the fuss about this..

Kate is a DLC char purchasable with shards. All her challenges are optional and not needed to get to the end. The whole archives/rift/challenges thing is optional and not needed to play the game. No one is forcing anyone to pay to progress.

  • @DeadHardMan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1378227#Comment_1378227

I mean if BHR wants to add a new Drag Queen survivor or whatever into DBD, yeah sure go ahead it's their game. I was talking about Drag skins to existing characters since I feel OP kinda implied it. That and few posters here are talking about giving existing survivors these skins.

    I get that!

but there was no demand to add it randomly to a survivor as a cosmetic.

someone mentioned Jeff, but they could very well make his Tome about his part-time job as a Drag-performer. (Yeah they are not gonna do that, but it’s still „possible“), we don’t know enough about our survivors that would really confirm it wouldn’t fit at all..
