I agree with your last paragraph. If BHVR actually WANTS to make a character with a gay backstory/biography? Ok, fine.
I just dislike people wanting representation like if its owed to them. Like I want more Latino characters in DBD but I’m not offended if more aren’t added or pushing for it to happen. And just to clarify: requesting it is fine... but feeling that it needs to be included is not (that’s entitlement). All of a sudden there’s like 3+ threads about this going on... so that’s my basis.
We’ll just see what BHVR wants to include in the future. Maybe they’ll send out another survey and people will get a chance to express their wishes for pride characters there.
The tweet doesn’t indicate they will include it for representations sake. They actually stated before they don’t want to do it because of it. They will include LGBT now because they already added hetero relations and they don’t want to explicitly exclude LGBT themes.
we will have to see how BHVR will include this in the future, as of now nothing more than some lore should be expected.

Survival mode, lore behind it: the life outside of the trials , campfire and surrounding woods
there are a bunch of survivors at the campfire, trying to survive, collect food/water, healing stuff (herbs), rebuild pallets and prepare for the next attack, maybe even give a way to fight back (stones, sticks, build breakable weapons)
a killer can randomly pop in, observe them (you won’t know who or how many), injure/slug the survs, maybe Mori depending on how much points the killer gathers, make them suffer, don’t let them fight back, will be kicked when not injuring someone for a time or getting stunned too often or something.
no Perks, killer powers mainly the same, survivors will have specific positive and negative traits.
-
i guess that guy that got downed early, wasnt rescued until second staged, then rescued right in killers face and tunneled and hooked also depipped. Depipping just happens and the others on your Team (if playing survivor) or the opponent(s) can make you depip (either side). DC‘s shouldn’t be so common and as stupid as it sounds, this was just one game, take it and go on, survivors getting camped/tunneled have the same issue and for the most part take it as is (we all know there are vocal ones out there; not relevant here).
for the harassment, you can report them for vocal abuse, there is no need for a support ticket, because once reported for it, the devs do have access to chat log and user information and can act accordingly!
-
i guess after the MoM incident, they would try to not replicate an OP Perk with a licensed character..
I guess there is nothing to speculate on other than there might be another license because of the files. Sidney would be very cool but unlikely, most killers would make more sense in an actual chapter, but then we do have Bubba and GhostFace so who knows? A Walking Dead survivor is also still possible, either from the games or series (Carol plz).
-
I am pretty sure it’s mostly because she is new. I noticed heavy tunneling on Cheryl as well (haven’t had a Lisa in my team yet).
but there will always be some killers that will target specific characters (there are quite some that will target Claudette and make sure every Claudette player has a bad time). There shouldn’t be too many of those though, and I guess once Cheryl and Lisa and longer in and maybe more legendary skins will be available this should normalize itself..

I think it would make a lot of sense to see a Candyman chapter to coincide with the new film's release later this year. I also think a Hellraiser chapter would make a pretty good addition, though it seems to me that it's a license that could have occupied a thematically similar power set to what Pyramid Head got.
And I joke about a lot of stuff up above, but a Friday the 13th chapter (or a Hatchet chapter, same difference more or less) would be great.
And of course I want my CHOPPING MALL chapter!!!!!! 😄
i don’t know much about any of those licenses except Friday the 13th (and here we have the lawsuit)
i really just wanted a power based on bees! That was my main draw to Candyman. Plus it would be cool if his Chase music had him pretty much whispering actual words/sentences (from what I read on the forum the way he talked to his victims was very intimidating/well done in the movies)
-
I am not a fan of Cheryls hair, it feels pretty unnatural, would be better if it was more like in the CGI-trailer.
the face is pretty good though, even though she looks kinda tired/exhausted they managed to make it look so much better compared to Quentin!

Given the amount of times I've seen Nea and Meg shipped, I'm surprised this is even commented on, but whatever
Who the ######### cares... why even comment on it.
Tbh, this was my reaction as well. They just made a small tweet. Nothing that should affect the game in any way other than some minor lore entries...

Yay I’m confused on why they wanted Candyman too. He doesn’t really fight with Dead Bu Daylight
It was because of a tweet by one of the devs of BHVR saying something like „next chapter is gonna bee sweet!“ and including a candy emoji (I still think that was super weird). Also the remake movie should have come out (now postponed to later this year).
also I think Candyman could very well still come, he wasn’t deconfirmed..

I'm curious why you'd be against retconning existing characters. That seems a little odd.
Especially as much interesting fanart I've seen regarding Nea and Meg....
It is not even retconning, no character has been confirmed to be straight or LGBT. We just know of a few straight relationships.
-
Maybe killers are now somewhat expecting this perk, especially if you play as Cheryl. So slugging while using a hex Perk will probably not happen regularly now. It could come into play later, when most people will play only their normal (Meta) Perk builds.
Also getting healed up from dying state with the killer nearby was always rare (but frustrating), that situation is not what people where calling OP about this perk, was it?

the thing is the timing. why didnt they talk about this before pride month? it just feels cheap and like they're taking advantage of the LGBTQ community
As if there would be no backlash if it was mentioned before.
they probably got way more feedback regarding that topic now during pride month. And because of that they re-evaluated their previous statement to not include any kind of sexuality and made the decision to include LGBT+ since they already have contradicted themselves before and have mentioned straight relationships. This is by the way no form of pressuring them or threading them to include it, there is no evidence this was the case, just self-reflection and a small little tweet. They didn’t mention it in the anniversary (took place during pride month), they won’t have a section dedicated to it in their upcoming Q&A (also pride month). Not mentioning it at all during this month would have been not very smart from a business point of view, but it sure doesn’t feel like they are making a big deal out of it.

I’m of the camp that prefers no backstory to the characters sexualities, unless its already been established due to a licensed characters biography, etc.
I don’t like kneejerk decisions being made due to vocal minorities. For example, we had people complaining that Bubba’s “blackface” (Claudette) mask cosmetic was racist and wanted it removed from the game. Not the same situation with people wanting LGBTXYZ characters included, but there’s no reason to force them in since they have no bearing on the game. I’d prefer the devs focus on fixing gameplay issues or coming up more interesting/useful perks than designing a rainbow survivor or killer. You know, stuff that actually matters.
No backstory to characters sexualities? So they should go back and remove those already mentioned? You didn’t voice this opinion when they made Julies and Franks tome story available or gave part of Aces cosmetics descriptions that mention sexuality in a way.
you say there is no reason to „force them in“ but there really is just no reason to leave LGBT out, we already got straight relationships and LGBT is not all about sex, it’s about the person, their identity, relationships, personal developement and growth, struggles and hopes in their life. With BHVR making ever more backstory entries and going deeper, this is something they shouldn’t leave out just to please you, or they would restrict their creativity and options.
Lore was there from the beginning and it will stay. And those creating the lore are probably not the same that work on gameplay mechanics or bugs etc. And for all we know they won’t create dedicated characters only for the sake of it, but incorporate LGBT+themes just naturally like straight themes before.
if it doesn’t matter to you, chances are you wouldn’t even notice it, but there will be people happy about it. And as long as they don’t go into sexual stuff (which really doesn’t belong in DbD) let them mention that a male character had a boyfriend, there is no harm in it.
-
I think it would be cool for dresses and hoodies as 2-piece sets, were you can still mix and match the third part, and that’s how they should have implemented Bunny Feng hoodie
-
so an extended report is not possible anymore because you can’t get the steam cloud if or whatever it’s called?

@Rey_512 said:
Because the vocal minority want to be “represented” in areas where it doesn’t really matter. And if you exclude said minorities they will throw a hissy fit.
I’ve barely given a second thought to the character’s backstories in DBD since it’s a repetitive 4v1 with no world-building outside of the mumble cutscenes that come with the Tome challenges. Lore has little to no bearing on the enjoyment (or frustration, depending on the player) of the actual gameplay.
We could have 20 straight white survivors and the game would still be about working on gens, looping killers to oblivion, killers facecamping and/or mori-ing off of first hook, etc.
Why does David King need to be bisexual or gay? He doesn’t. If someone wants to fantasize about him then that’s their prerogative and none of our business. But in my opinion the devs shouldn’t force sexualities on characters to “make a statement” or show that “they care”... because apparently it sounds like they made a boo boo on Twitter and now have to include LGBTQXYZ characters or people will go ballistic.
If it doesn’t matter, why not just include LGBT. As you stated it doesn’t matter.
also why include straight relationships? Wouldn’t matter at all. But here we are.
there is no harm in this inclusion. Either you are happy about it, or you don’t care, or you have something against it.

There was a DbD exam with 60 or so questions about lore, in game items, devs etc.
you had 24 h to participate, if you got more than 90% you got the chance to win 500 aura cells (raffle)

This has nothing to do with the exam?

Now that's what I call an argument! well presented and well said! See Orion, you can learn something from Mooks.
I have nothing against BHVR adding LGBT stuff into the story, I never had and I have stated that on multiple occasions now. Where I draw the line is when and if BHVR starts to pander to LGBT community pushing a movement which is what usually happens when LGBT community raise their voice wanting that kind of stuff added to the game. Before we know it, we start seeing cosmetics with LGBT slogans and whatnot. I would not care even if they added something like that if it made sense game-wise, but since DBD is not about LGBT nor straights, stuff like this would break immersion and push forward a movement that nobody wants to see in their video games. We just want to play. But you are right on one thing from your previous posts, once these things become reality, that is a fine time for outrage not before, however, we do reserve the right to raise our concern for what a future can hold as we are not without any basis for our concerns - there is a lot to be worried about when it comes to feminists, SJW, and LGBT movements in video games.
I do belive that you are on to something when you say that stories with just straight characters can be 1-dimensional, but what they certainly are not is forced unlike you stated. If the developers want to tell a straight story, that is their decision, just like if they want to add LGBT characters or not, it is also their decision, I don't think that is something that should be pushed upon them. Now if they have stated previously that they support LGBT, that's pretty obvious for both as a company that wants to stay in business in 2020 and also as many who live in this century do understand that there is nothing wrong with LGBT in general. However, whether they want that kind of stuff to their game, it's all up to them. What you have told me, it seems they do want LGBT stuff to them, but what I believe is that this is something that was pushed on them, not because they geniuanelly want it. Many comapnies do that just to avoid backlash and PR nightmare.
That could very well be true, but looking at the tweet i don’t see it as directly pushed. They decided it for themselves, after getting feedback and realizing they already have contradicted their original statement.
looking at the tomes and the actual devs I would have guessed that they would have gone in this direction on their own eventually, they are themselves very diversive and have already shown that they are an inclusive company.
Also I guess some day they will also add LGBT licenses chars (Robin from Stranger Things plz) and this wouldn’t have a direct impact I would assume
also also: no one wants unnecessary pandering just for the sake of it. I personally really hope they will only mention it in backstories where it is fitting and actually contributes to the character building.
-
Because they are licensed characters tied to the Silent Hill Licensing (Konami)
that means the license holder gets some money for every purchase, thus you can only purchase them through DLC or Auric Cells (where you need to pay with money instead of game hours played)

no, what you are hearing is what you want to hear. I have presented my argument to your request in my previous post, but of course you just don't want to acknwoledge it. But just for your pleasure because I am such a nice guy, here it is again:
"It's because devs don't care about this stuff when they create characters for their video games. They don't make a character and think "Oh yeah, this guy's totally straight, let's go with that" - They just make a character, period. If you think that when a game has a straight character that is pretty much the base of all characters in video games and you automatically assume that the devs used braincells to come up with the character being straight..." End of quote because the rest is not relevant to this case.
Now to add to that, I don't think that LGBT characters need a reason to be explained if they want to be added to a video game, only just when it doesn't make sense to add them to a specific video game, such as this one. Again, DBD is not a game about sexuality, so obviously you need to make a case as to why LGBT characters need to be added. The same goes for straight characters. If I want more straight characters to DBD, I need to present a case as to why and how the game and its playerbase would benefit from it.
Just because there are straight characters in a video game is not a valid argument to add LGBT characters and vice versa. Now what is a valid argument is the story part if you feel that LGBT characters would enrich the lore somehow, but on that part you need to go into details to strengthen your case. I don't see any reason as to why LGBT characters would enrich the story and the reason why is the same as before, because the game is not about sexuality, it never was and it never will be because all it is about is 4 survivors running away from a killer in the realm of a powerful entity, end of story. There are back stories to these characters, yes, but they do not revolve around sex.
That pretty much sums up my argument, now may I hear yours? Or are you going to say mine is not valid :D ?
Even though you will probably ignore my arguments again:
They are ever expanding their lore and backstories for their characters, and even though they are not mentioning sex directly they have already mentioned relationships. Now it would feel very repetitive if they only ever add straight relationships and this would also feel very forced. But relationships are a big part of many characters and may have heavy impact on them, may it be marriage partners, abusive exes, „the one that got away“ or just normal everyday relationships. It would feel very restrictive if no char ever had a meaningful samesex relationship. Now coming to trans: this is even bigger and can define a character completely, this also has nothing to do with sex, but with character and personal development, growth and for LGBT people it is the case that defining situations happen to be around this theme. Here is hoping that BHVR will not only focus on this of course, because that would be 1-dimensional and shallow, but why should they not acknowledge this if they have a character that is actually part of LGBT community? Why should they restrict themselves in this regard given the lore we have already in the game?

Here's the answer. Lava chapter was the code name for the DLC befre being public on steam.
When it got public to add it to wishlist, and people added it, in the activity page it apeared as "lava" instead of "silent hill"
So this is the first case of them using not a country as a code name?
thats somewhat interesting! Maybe..
but even then, we would have never speculated about Silent Hill if we knew the Codename „Lava“ (or am I missing something?)

It's not unnatural at all. The games until now have pretty much had most or every character in a heterosexual relationships and that's not weird.
We have only like 4 relationships of the chars mentioned as of now (not counting backstory chars like claudettes parents)
of course it doesn’t feel unnatural now that only heterosexual relations are mentions. But going down this road, it would get unnatural if every single char of the 40+ roster only ever has hetero relationships.
-
Apparently, the winners already got their emails (not sure if true, just saw a post stating that from a completely new user on this forum)

Lava chapter? Would be a pretty lame name, wouldn’t it? Could this a Codename even for the silent hill chapter?

"I refuse to type out an argument" for a case that you presented in the first place, yeah, that makes sense. So you just want LGBT to the game because it has straight characters in it, that's your final statement then. Well now I really want that pony in DBD, good thing I don't even need to present a case as to why! I just want it so I am going to get it and anyone who is against it is anti-pony and should feel ashamed!
And again ignoring every other argument.
also, it doesn’t matter if you personally want this or Orion for that matter. If he was the only one requesting this (which he never did btw) then BHVR wouldn’t have given anything. Guess what: BHVR wants to add LGBT.

Why the need for yet another thread with this topic? There were already enough and this one doesn’t bring anything new to the table.

ace is actually one of the chars that was at least heavily hinted at being a „ladies man“ in his cosmetic descriptions. But if you think the char would not „survive“ if confirmed not to be straight then you really got issues...

If they made an LGBT character, why not state who? It's a game. I'd like to know when this was said as if it was said when the character was created rather than when this discussion came up would be interesting.
Ask the devs. I actually can’t find the statement now, it was a while ago, I don’t even know exactly in which form (possibly a Q&A?)
even if it was not stated, we have chars with confirmed hetero relationships and we have many more chars without any mentions at all. With the tomes and actually news backstories they expand the lore even more and ever deeper. Not mentioning any non-heterosexual relationship at all would be creatively very restricting and also feel very unnatural.

Actually, the devs gave you their argumentation on why they (now) want to add LGBT+ stuff. They want it in their Videogame and just looking at the twitter responses from them to hateful/anti-LGBT comments: they don’t care if those people will stop supporting them, quite the opposite.
you may state your concerns, but really your argumentation is thin and nothing really speaks against inclusion other than „i don’t want it in my game“. The devs always had included LGBT into this game, they were just not confirming which char etc. This will now change. To what degree we just don’t know yet.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/161344/why-lgbt-is-so-important
As much as this is something to celebrate and support in real life. If treated incorrectly this could kill the game. All I've been hearing of lately is "Who is the most LGBT character?", "Should we get LGBT cosmetics?", "Should we be able to switch genders of certain characters?"
Just think for a moment, say they do make a LGBT character. Next argument will be, 'Not enough representation of it in game'. That will only encourage them to start making the next few survivors LGBT. So no. Dont introduce LGBT characters as YOU are the survivor. I play Nea and I'm straight, so Nea is straight. If you play Nea and you're gay. Then Nea is gay. The character can be what you want them to be as it's you playing them. And just cause they dont have a 'LGBT backstory' doesnt make them any less. Make a few cosmetics in game FOR FREE like a shirt, a hoodie so people (if they want to) can show their support. That is all that should be done with this.
That’s not true. They always were defined characters and not blank husks. They have defined backstories and families and relations. BHVR stated they don’t want to confirm their sexuality but they contradicted themselves and reveals some relationships - only heterosexuals. They have already stated that at least one char is in fact LGBT, but they never said who and didn’t want to reveal it - now they could do that with the tomes.
that said, if you play Nea and she is stated to be lesbian, that shouldn’t affect your gameplay at all. Nothing stops you from having your head canon.

Your mass effect Andromeda comment did not bring forth the fact how the team behind the game was influenced by LGBT movement inside the studio which led to gigantic conflict within the staff that scared the development of the ME:A and eventually threw the entire production to a whole new direction that ended up taking focus more on the characters' sexuality than the overall gameplay and romance. Anyone who played the game can see that in every opportunity possible the game wanted to shove down your throat that a character was this and that sexually, something that was not present in any of the earlier titles. Of course Mass Effect is about romance and relationships between straights and gays, etc, but Mass Effect Andromeda clearly had an agenda to push and it shows strong. It was less about gameplay and more about "Look at this LGBT character, look how strong and independent he/she is! He doesn't need your approval!" Never before have I cringed during a video game than I did with when playing Andromeda, and Mass effect just so happens to be my most favorite game of all time. But let's jump out of Mass Effect and focus on DBD.
Again, I asked you to provide a valid argument on as to why we need sexuality or LGBT presented in DBD, to which you answered that we have a problem with the LGBT stuff now that it was brought up. No shieeeet sherlock? What? We are not allowed to raise our concern when something is brought up? We should just be quiet and accept it or else we come out as anti-LGBT? No, again, I am in favor of LGBT as long as they stay away from video games where sexuality is not one of the game's elements. If the devs want to push that stuff in the character background lore, I don't mind, but once they start to shove it down my throat via in-game characters, cosmetics and whatnot, then I have an issue with it <- It's a movement. If you want to raise awareness of LGBT, then do it elsewhere outside video games, or better yet, make your own video game where you can do that stuff as much as your heart desires. Heck, there already are people doing that, the difference between them and you is that they know how to use right channels to raise awareness. And don't try to say in your next reply that you are not trying to raise awareness, you already made that statement in your earlier comment so we know damn well what this is really about.
"I don't feel the need that DBD should have LGBT stuff in it" - Case closed then? Why are we having this conversation if you don't feel the need to have LGBT stuff in the game. If you continue this discussion in favor of having LGBT stuff in DBD, then clearly you do feel the need for it. Having read all of your earlier comments, I have the impression that you like to speak to people like starting fresh, like they had not read anything you wrote before that clearly contradicts your new statements. First you said you want to raise awareness with the LGBT, then you suddenly switched that and said you don't want to raise awareness. This whole time you have been speaking in favor of LGBT in DBD, now you suddenly say that you don't feel the need for that to be in the game. How about you make your mind and stick with it or else your little story falls like a house of cards.
People don't need to feel more welcome to video games by having LGBT characters in them. If they seek approval that way, then clearly they don't get video games in the first place. You paraphrased someone about how LGBT characters always require some kind of explanation as to why they should be added to a game where as straights have a green card with no issue. Well let me tell you something about why that is. It's because devs don't care about this stuff when they create characters for their video games. They don't make a character and think "Oh yeah, this guy's totally straight, let's go with that" - They just make a character, period. If you think that when a game has a straight character that is pretty much the base of all characters in video games and you automatically assume that the devs used braincells to come up with the character being straight, you are clearly in my eyes one of those people who like to wake up in the morning and look at a list that reads "How can I feel victimized today".
Stop thinking that this is a war against LGBT and start presenting valid arguments as to why you feel that DBD and its playerbase would benefit from having LGBT characters. Forget that straights even exist, just try to sell your idea rather than take a defence, and see if the devs like it well enough to implement it to the game.
Actually, the devs gave you their argumentation on why they (now) want to add LGBT+ stuff. They want it in their Videogame and just looking at the twitter responses from them to hateful/anti-LGBT comments: they don’t care if those people will stop supporting them, quite the opposite.

I think you're missing the point I'm trying to make. Let's take Feng and Yui as examples. Do you not think that a person who identifies closely to one could also identify with the other? They're ethnically similar and not that far apart to the extent where other regions are completely non-existent.
You've got Tapp and Adam, again, same question? Is it too much to imagine that anyone who identifies with one couldn't identify with another?
And now consider this at the same time as asking, what possible survivor could someone from a Mid-Eastern background identify with? There's well over 20 characters, and not a single one that comes close here. And yes, I get that some come from licences so are fixed in their nature to a degree, but that doesn't mean that non-licenced characters need to duplicate them.
If we're talking about representation of players, I would argue that making a more ethnically diverse cast would cover a lot more representation and do much more in this regard, rather than forcing in some LGBT backstory which has absolutely zero effect on any aspect of the gameplay itself and appears to only exist as a token gesture.
You are missing the point. They might very well add more ethnicities, and they actually do (see Zarina). But the characters are so much more than only their ethnicity. Min is a pro-gamer, lone wolf, while Yui is the leader of a female-only biker gang that cares deeply for others. Why should there only be one of them? (Plus you were basically saying Chinese and Japanese don’t have differences, which is totally incorrect)
Adding LGBT does not stop adding a more diverse ethnicity cast. And they will not force in those themes (why would you think that??). They actually said there is at least 1 LGBT char already in the cast and with the tomes they would need to restrict themselves from mentioning past relationships etc. It is also only affecting the lore.
so while representation is nice to have, this has (almost) nothing to do with it.

Yeah, I don't buy the territory thing. Diversity is easy enough if you stop duplicating models/regions.
We got multiple white males, white females, black males, oriental females. It'd be really easy to add more diversity if you stop duplicating what you already have. One model can look like nearly enough a massive range if you choose something generic enough.
They didn’t they they would add a char for every possible sexual orientation or gender or what.
they merely stated they might add the themes in the lore and will not restrict themselves anymore in this regard.
its not about representing every possible individual. But they have said they won’t add anything LGBT (or straight) but they never restricted themselves with ethnicities or anything else.

If they purely wanted it for the profit, they would have decided to do it earlier I think. They made a statement after community feedback asking for it that they don’t want to do it. They just changed this statement now because they have contradicted themselves and the community made them aware of it.

Community request is exactly my entire point I have been making here (though you don't seem to read anything I have wrote?) I have said it multiple times, if the devs feel the desire to make LGBT characters in DBD, they would do that without anyone asking them to. DBD, again, is not a sexual game where we need LGBT or even straight characters, we don't need to know the sexual orientation of the characters here. Asking for such is nothing but pushing on agenda that has no place in DBD. You, just like everyone else in favor of LGBT, has failed to represent a valid argument as to why there needs to be LGBT characters in the game. All that you guys can say is that it's what you want. Heck, I want to ride a pony in DBD, but it has nothing to do with the game so why would the devs go out of their way to add it just for me and few of those within the entire community who want to ride a pony in the game.
"It does nothing to affect the quality of video games" - Tell that to Mass effect Andromeda and Overwatch, and the rest of all the amazing games that were heavily influenced by your ideology. There's entire documentaries made out of these games where people explain in great detail how the LGBT community went their way to change these games and how they affected the quality of them negatively, taking away from the majority while pandering to minority. Some of my favorite games have been ruined due to this LGBT stuff, so excuse me if I don't find this something I want to support. Again, I have nothing against LGBT in general, just when it's pushed on video games that have nothing to do with sexuality.
You think that people are against LGBT simply because they don't want that in DBD, but what you fail to understand is exactly the reason why they don't want it. There have been multiple comments stating "DBD is not a sexual game, so why do we need stuff like LGBT in it". To which you and everyone else in favor of this can only reply to as "You hate LGBT, why are you against it! There are straight characters in the lore so why not LGBT characters, bla bla bla"...
For the sake of this argument having any value to continue, PLEASE, explain to me why do you feel the need that DBD should have LGBT stuff in it. Do that and we have a real conversation worth to discuss.
Why is „there are straight characters in the lore so why not LGBT characters“ not a valid argument though? If your argument is „DbD is not a sexual game“ then why do straight characters have to be here?
also have this argument: BHVR see themselves as an inclusive company and they don’t want to intentionally exclude LGBT chars. They did not do it intentionally before, but now with the awareness they decided they don’t want to do it anymore.

This is pretty underwhelming tbh.
i kind of regret buying the licensed characters with Auric Cells because I didn’t know about those DLC cosmetics (also I bought them during in game discounts and in the beginning only wanted survivors).
but now that I play both sides and know about it (bought Stranger things chapter and will by Silent Hill) I don’t even want those extra cosmetics/the charm..

You should edit your comment to clarify that only the "targeting" part has come true, not the "fiasco" part.
Yeah was already in progress of editing.

Alright, look, maybe I'm just pessimistic or something but I'd like to try and communicate to you the long term effects of things like certain characters being LGBT or cosmetics. Quick tag on @Orion too because it's directly relevant to our discussion and I'm going to catch some sleep after I make this post.
Imagine for a moment that there is a designated LGBT character or cosmetics relating to LGBT. Naturally, there will be people who target these survivors and cosmetics intentionally either for a laugh or out of actual hatred. The distinction between these two groups will be practically unidentifiable. What happens then? A fiasco, that's what. There's more than enough victim complexes around here to go around even without this stuff added into the mix. Now add in some political correctness culture to create a proverbial grease fire.
Is that a worst case scenario that will never come to pass? Honestly, I hope so.
thats a scenario that definitely will come true to some degree (the targeting). And this is already true. There are people only targeting black chars for example, even for different non-racist reasons (if you believe them).
that should not be the reason to not include LGBT though. As it is not a reason to take black chars out of the game.
either you will not be able to tell if the targeting happened due to hatred or other circumstantial reasons: then nothing would even change for the players.
or those that do target out of hatred will put themselves in the chat, can get reported and BHVR will deal with this.

Not even a forum announcement or any in-game announcement, for the record. If I hadn't seen all these threads complaining about it, I wouldn't know about it. I swear it's like these people want everyone to pay attention to it.
Yeah, same! Actually I have seen the tweet, read it, thought „ok cool, they managed that well and appropriate“ and forgot about it until forum posts shocked me XD

Yeah, that's true, but that doesn't really help ease the tension of the announcement because there's no certainty as to what's being done. It was vague and has just as great a chance to be a meaningless gesture as it does of being an invasive immersion killing disaster. Of course there are people that are going to be extremely concerned. How could they not be?
Because nothing bad happened yet. as of now with everything we know about BHVR and their lore entries etc, they will just mention it like the Hetero relations before. Maybe they will add one char whose lore revolves around LGBT (but we had concerning lore before and it wouldn’t be that bad since there are actually people like this out there; I personally wouldn’t like that though) but those are just assumptions.
there is no need to make worst case scenario assumptions. If those will happen, let the outrage begin!

You use the words "didn't have a problem." The truth is that they didn't care. They didn't pay any attention because they don't want to. So, LGBT comes in and not only cares but wants everyone to pay attention for "awareness." Are you starting to understand why there's pushback yet? People don't want preached to through a videogame any more than they want an ad to interrupt them while playing.
They just made a small tweet. No video, no Q&A section devoted for it, nothing. No mention in the anniversary.

This is just a horror game, I don't understand why there would be a need for that. Sure it's nice that they added the LGBT discord emojis and all but I don't see any point in it in the game.
It’s Lore/character backstory. No harm whatsoever and they are expanding on the lore ever more. Maybe they just don’t want to restrict themselves anymore, they already mentioned heterosexual relations, where is the problem in mentioning other relationships?

And I'll ask you again, what does being straight have to do with the game? Nothing, just like the entire lore. The devs are including it because they want to, yet people are here saying they shouldn't (because reasons) and blaming the LGBT community for "threatening" them or whatever.
People were saying they shouldn’t because BHVR said they will not do it. They contradicted themselves. That’s your (because reasons)

Yeah I mentioned it because it stood out and gave me a good chuckle, ironic as it is. Don't pretend like there weren't demands, the statement on the 12th directly references the "you referenced sexual orientation before" argument. Also take that last post I made with a grain of salt I'm getting a bit on the sleep deprived side and I'm pretty sure I heavily misinterpreted what you saying and didn't notice until after I posted. Gettin' real tired, sorry about that. 😴
I am taking a bold step and say: that twitter comment was only made to give some people a good chuckle.
of course there were demands. Also extreme demands (there are extreme LGBT activists after all). But there were also demands for everything else. And more so for something else. Most comments were actually just positive without any demands
BHVR decided (not capitulated) their next step, they gave their reasoning for it and were totally rational about it. They were not more pressured into doing it than into explicitly excluding it. At the end they decided it on their own, knowing that they will please many and knowing they will also displease many.

Oh really? How's that? Do you think I actually give a damn if a character in this game is gay or lesbian or whatever? If so you're even more disappointing as a dialogue partner than I thought. Keep jumping at shadows of bigotry. Bigots don't engage on forums like these, and they sure as hell don't try to reason with their opponent. Get a clue.
LOL where did I call you a bigot?
i was merely stating that you are victimizing the companies (which you do).
but again: you have to get personal.

Don't give me that line. I know exactly what prompted this. June 3rd DbD devs released LGBT acceptance emotes and were met with demands for more. "Not good enough" the community says. So to the drawing board, where they have to figure out exactly what compromises they have to make to avoid being publicly defamed by internet reactionaries. June 12th you get a public capitulation. I think my favorite part of scrolling down in to the replies to that tweet is a smug image titled "The heteros are upseteros." Real inclusive, that one.
So, like I said earlier to someone else, this is a circus. Another instance of twitter activists running roughshod over a media production studio. One more on the pile. One more failure to co-exist, as if we needed more.
Oh no, you don’t give me that line!
I scrolled through those comments. There were not many demands for more (actually the only demands were like add shirtless x etc). I have seen more hateful comments towards LGBT, by far!
but you decide to mention one post that doesn’t even fit your narrative.

"Majority of people are either supportive of or indifferent to all sexual orientations" eh? If that's true why do you feel so victimized and unincluded? 🤔 Could it be that, just maybe, there are people that go out of their way to make themselves victims? People that, when pushing for change, immediately declare themselves victimized the moment anyone resists that change? You say everyone knows and can see what I'm trying to do. That's equally true for you. This isn't about tolerance or inclusion because people are both tolerant and inclusive. It's about ego, it's about being publicly recognized or else.
Actually in this special case you are the one using victimization (of the companies)

This is the same situation when that one guy asked from the Gears 5 devs if the female protagonist of the story is lesbian. WHAT. DOES. THAT. HAVE. TO. DO. WITH. THE. GAME. There are games for the LGBT audience if they are looking to enjoy stuff like that. Having straight characters in a video game does not obligate the devs to equalize the ground by offering LGBT characters, they offer and make them if that's something they want to do out of their own decision.
And that is whatBHVR is going to do: include LGBT because they don’t want to exclude.
