fine as well, but i guess that would be a duplication exploit.
Yeah as i have edited in the Original Post I am not sure if it breaks any rules. I guess you should read those rules yourself (should be on this link somewhere):
-
You can’t reset any DbD account.
and you can’t directly link two Steam accounts via the BHVR Account.
i guess you could connect OldSteam account with a Stadia account so your progress is on zur Stadia account. Then unlink your OldSteam account. Then link your NewSteam account.
there are at least time restrictions there though, so you can’t do this in the span of a day. And OldSteam account will still have the progress.
edit: I Never tried this myself and am not 100 percent sure it works or if it works if it’s against any rules.
-
The devs won’t ban someone if they only broke rules in a third party chat program though. Doesn’t matter if you can provide screenshots for that.
-
I am guessing more teasers today in form of tweets. Maybe some hint at the maps getting reworks. But we never got the trailer one day in advance of a PTB ever, did we?

The files usually change because they add new currencies, but I've never seen them remove one, so it's doubtful.
Yeah but up to that point they never added them either as far as I know.
but we should probably not discuss this further.

I don't like to discuss leaks because it's against the forum rules, but it's been confirmed the chapter is original, sorry bro. Besides, what a new FNAF game being announced has to do with it being in DBD? Silent Hill has been basically a dead franchise for years now (although it seems they are planning a reboot).
Actually leaks like that turned out to be false before. I think it was heavily suspected that both Blight and Twins chapter would be licensed because of the currency but the files later changed. So it’s not 100 percent confirmed.
that said, no way this chapter is licensed and even less chance for FNAF.
-
Yes i have used them,
but I still think they are unnecessary and kinda annoying. I use them only when I want to progress in the bloodwebs any way.
-
I probably answer this question every time with a different chapter...
but I would say Demise of the Faithful.
With Jane we got finally a character with a different bodytype (was Jeff before or after? Even though, I think Jane did it better/more significant) and her perk Head On brought something new and interesting to the game!
The Plague has a very cool design, power-wise and (especially) her aesthetics! And her perks are really cool. Power could use some QoL changes I guess, at least I can’t do much with her now..
-
I may be wrong and this is completely speculation on my side here but:
maybe this has something to do with the rarity of the perks. You are only missing rank3 perks with the purple rarity and bloodwebs are created with a maximum of certain rarities. So this may cause you not getting more perks available.
Don’t know if it would be intentional in this case though.. I guess that could only be answered by a dev

Nah, it will be over after the Event and it’s not like you are bumping it multiple times a day
we need more positive Threads anyway, and people appreciate the codes!
-
@NoOneKnowsNova said:
Bumping this once more, probably the last time I'll do it, the event was extended to the 4th of March.
Really nice thread, maybe bump it at the last day one more time to let everyone have that last chance 😉

Most likely addition from TWD are Daryl and Michonne from the show, based on addition in other games (eg i think fortnite got those two). And they make a lot of sense.
personally I would love to see Carol, Maggie or Glen! Wouldn’t mind Clementine though, even though I have never even seen anything from the game.
-
Please speak for yourself.
i do care very much about new chapters. Doesn’t mean I don’t care about other stuff like game health, balance and accessibility options
and cross Progression is something they know the Community wants and they are actively trying to get it also for other platforms, but it’s not entirely their doing here.

"Gay torture camps" are a little off topic. Plus they're not the only kinda torture camps but that's besides the point.
Stop making this a "straight white men run everything" rant because that's exactly the type of attitude which I'm trying to discourage. In many places straight white men have been run out in place of minorities. Poor white working class males are the least likely to pass at university and they are too often taken advantage of because they somehow have to pay reparations for their ancestors slavery crimes and whatever. Many white working class families used to be slaves and it was common for them to work in workhouses back in the day. You don't have the full picture so I'd appreciate it if you didn't put "cis white men" in a bubble and talk smack about them.
I don't like the framing you have of "straight white people are entitled so let's give everyone else something to make up for it". I think that is an outdated way of seeing things.
I recommend you re-read Orion’s post in a calm manner. You are accusing him of saying things there that he most definitely did not say at all.

I don’t have any issues with adding a character who just so happens to be LGBT, however if they’re a token character who’s entire identity is LGBT sexuality, then while it obviously won’t make me stop playing the game, I’ll find it highly cringe-worthy and tedious.
LGBT sexuality is shoehorned into just about everything these days and I can see why some people are getting bored with it. We get it. Some people are LGBT. I’m bi. One of my friends is a transvestite. There’s no need to keep shouting it from the rooftops - the entire establishment has your back already, as does the majority of society. There’s nothing you can do about the fact that some people don’t like it.
In summary, by all means add a character who just so happens to be LGBT, but don’t make it a blatant pandering to tired old identity politics as this actually has a negative effect on the LGBT community because it makes what would normally be an understanding and accepting person into someone who just don’t want to hear it anymore.
There is no reason to believe that BHVR would create a character who’s entire identity is LGBT based on all already released characters.
and if people are tired of hearing about it, especially in this case they can easily choose to entirely ignore it. It will only be mentioned in lore and nothing more. No one forces anyone to read or be invested in the lore.

You underestimate the damage twitter can do. It's also where dbd does a lot of its stuff with the community.
Actually I might. I am not invested in Twitter or generally those social media platforms.

I'm not talking about you when it comes to insulting labels like "homophobe" it's mostly regarding social media like Twitter.
If outrage determines the Devs actions in any capacity then I'll will be like "I saw this coming, why didn't they anticipate this?"
Petty arguments come from every direction. People will make unfair complaints and take action on them. Just like review bombing on certain chapters for various reasons.
I haven't made any false claims like you put it. Wait until the chapter comes out and then see it kick off on twitter.
Why should we care what people will do on Twitter? There will always be an outrage there, and in this case equally from the side that says the inclusion wasn’t done ‚right‘ and from the side that says the inclusion should never have happened for whatever reason.
why should we let the decisions made by the devs be influenced by those extremists at all? That would be actually forced, since we know they want to be inclusive.

One thing that has been a problem for years which would be way more inclusive is the struggle button feature.
People who struggle to spam the struggle button still to this day can't enjoy the game as much as others. Even without a disability it's such a tedious action to do.
The colour blind settings took way too long and if they just shove a trans survivor in for example to me that would show a double standard that they actually don't respect the very thing which they claim to do so.
It's one thing having an "inclusive" game but however you look at it the games health must come first.
By this I mean if a trans survivor is added and all their perks are busted, to add 3 new skins to the store while ignoring the broken perks would be a shame.
Pressure from the threat of outrage is something that shouldn't influence decision making but it may end up so.
Another example is that if a trans character only had 9 cosmetic pieces compared to Megs 100+, people will say "dbd is transphobic and not inclusive". It's just how people are.
I'm not going to find someone else's comment about a particular thing because I can't speak on behalf of them plus I'm not digging through the forums.
Before anyone calls me homophobic (they will somehow) I would probably enjoy a trans character if they had a certain uniqueness or an interesting power.
If it's something disappointing I will say so regardless of people thinking criticism is transphobic because that's what will happen.
all those gamehealth and Accessibility mode stuff is important and I am glad they are finally doing something in that direction.
but this has exactly nothing to do with adding LGBT chars or not. Characters would be added either way, we know that by now. And we also know they are doing it not because they were pressured but because they want to. That’s what they explicitly said multiple times.
and even if some people would claim they are transphobic because of cosmetics? That’s not an excuse to not be inclusive at all. There are valid reasons why certain characters have more cosmetics. And there are already complaint about distribution. (EDIT: no one called them racist just because Adam had so few cosmetics)
and please notice how I never once called you homophobic or said that your opinion is wrong or something. Please stop making those false claims. The people arguing for inclusion don’t do that all the time.

I don’t have a problem with an lgbt character what I have a problem with is if the fact that they are lgbt is either their main selling point or that it is their only character trait it’s like Claudette and her autism we didn’t know about it until some lore for the tome and that is fine because it is important that characters are actually established rather than just one note and trying to make a character for the sole purpose of being lgbt is very shallow and silly
We already know that the character will come with 3 teachable perks and different cosmetics. And they will have a distinctive look. So this is clear evidence that being LGBT will not be their only selling point.
and we already know that every single character introduced had multiple traits. There is no reason to assume an LGBT char will suddenly be handeled differently.

Yea but the fact that your only idea of a "stereotypical gay trait" is a "flamboyant guy who only hangs out with LGBT people", makes me think you don't know enough about the community to know what is representation. That alone is kinda really offensive. Im not trying to take jabs at you here, thats just how this seems to me. Like what was great about the old system was when someone had a head cannon on who was gay or straight or bi in game, that was it. We have enough information to think they may be that, which is that they were human people. Anyone could be anything, you don't need some rainbow leotard and a flag to be gay. If they want to start labeling people then it should be casually a part of their lore, maybe from the stuff we learn through the archives. It should just be another fact about them, there is no person who is being represented well if their only trait is a stereotype, full stop
That was just one example. I don’t see it like That at all.
and it was never possible to think that Nurse was lesbian, or Oni was trans. Same with Felix, David, Frank, Julie. To an extent even Wraith and Ace. All have had confirmed heterosexual relationships. And again, just equal treatment to that would be enough.
i personally wouldn’t mind stereotypical representation ALONG with non-stereotypical later down the line is all I am trying to say. Because having stereotypical traits is also nothing entirely bad. But I am not asking or demanding anything but equal treatment and not explicit exclusion of any form of representation.
-
I think at this point it would just feel forced if the devs implement something against the genrush. It would feel like pandering to the complaining killer mains and they would not implement it because they really wanted it but because they were pressed to do it.
/s
yeah I think something to change early game/overall feel of genrush is needed, but not on the expense on the survivor side, but to also make survivor gameplay more interesting.

I explained in pretty great detail how we've been dealing with this terrible misuse of LGBT consistently. This wouldn't be "one example" this would be another misuse in a long line of token gay characters, or characters hyper exemplifying gay "stereotypes". This is like if a writer only wrote black women as a bit on the heavier side, incredibly sassy, and always sayin "oh baby lemme cook for you suga', you're thin as a rail".
There isn't good representation of the community, and it really feels like you only see LGBT as the stereotypes...
I explicitly said i don’t want only stereotypical representation.
i just said that diverse representation would be a good thing. If you have 10 different LGBT chars and none of them would show any kind of stereotypical trait that would feel forced. I am not saying every LGBT char should have stereotypical traits. And especially not the first
-
As an experience I would like to see it,
just so they can gather the data what would change if there was no red stain since it is similar to the bloodlust where it is just present in every match,
-
I am in the same boat. Currently have 4M BP waiting on my Switch account.
don’t wanna waste them since on my Steam account every char is already leveled pretty high..

I'm not saying I think it's forced. I can imagine people feel that way, especially because it's a thing right now in the world.
Like I said, I don't care about a characters background or when someone is transsexual. In the end, all I care about is if the other person is happy about themselves.
Just for the record, I didn’t want to accuse you of that. I just wanted to point out that this argument isn’t holding in this case.
And people who use this argument are not really involved or informed enough with Behaviours statements (which is okay and I just try to give them the appropriate information).
Or they use this argument as an excuse to be anti-LGBT (which is just not okay)

I think it has more to do that it is "forced". Nowadays it's more of a hype to be part of a diversity it seems (not that I have anything against other people), but it's more of a "jump on the hypetrain" move I think. At least, I can imagine people feel that way.
Not that I can care less about a character, since I don't read the lore of characters in this game anyway. If they have good perks, that's all I care about in this game. I main one character and that's it. After level 40 I only play that character for a daily and nothing more.
People are always claiming it is forced. But there is no reason to believe it in this case. The devs have stated their opinion and they have shown before that they don’t do stuff just because the community demands it (see UI change, they are not reverting it back even though everyone demanding it

But I'll just leave it at this. I've said my piece.
Never accused you of making me personally the bad guy.
but you were claiming that those asking for inclusion are the ones later claiming the inclusion is done wrong and overanalyze that. That behavior is wrong of course. But you don’t know if that will even happen here. And excluding LGBT just because there are people like this is not the right way.

I've been quite clear as a gay person myself that of course it isn't "bad". But you're already assuming it has been purposely, consciously excluded. On what basis do you know that? Once again, most survivors have no reference to their sexual orientation in their lore.
If Behaviour wants to give it a shot, go for it. But I'm calling it right here, right now, there will be complaining. There will be articles written by woke journalists dissecting how the new character is "problematic" lol.
The devs have said that they didn’t include LGBT because they want to confirm anything sexually about their chars. While they were claiming that they have added many heterosexual relationships. That was exclusion. The devs have seen their mistake and apologized.

@CluelessWanderer said:

So what you and others want so vehemently is a snippet of lore on a survivor that states explicitly that they're not straight b/c there are 3 characters that have mentioned hetero relationships?
If I were Behaviour I wouldn't touch this with a 10 foot pole, and I'll tell you why; the small, vocal minority on social media that demand these things usually cannot be pleased. I've seen it happen dozens of times. A company gets pressured into being "inclusive", and they think "hmm, ok, we can do that". But it is never good enough. The mob will complain that it wasn't done right. That someone looks like a "bad stereotype", or "not gay enough". I'm calling it now- game journalists will analyze every pixel of that character, break it apart and find something offensive.
And God help them if they make a Killer 'LGBT'. I'm warning you Behaviour, don't even try it LMAO.
Honestly, I have no issues ( of course) if a new survivor just happens to be gay. It's just such a loaded issue these days with things being how they are.
The devs have decided to be inclusive on their own free will, as they have already stated.
those complaining about it done wrong are mostly those that had a problem with it anyway. Don’t make everyone that’s just asking for equal treatment the bad guys here
-
@CluelessWanderer said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1981330#Comment_1981330
'LGBT' people aren't a Hive Mind who all think the same way. We're different people with different thoughts.
Of course, if a survivor happens to be gay/lesbian w/e I'm cool with that. I just don't think it's so pressing all the time.
Like I'm reading other character's bio's now, and I'm through 3 of them and no mention of anyone's sexual orientation yet. How do we know they're all straight?
Nurse, Felix, Frank and Julie, David. All have confirmed heterosexual relationships.
with Wraith and Ace it’s heavily implied in cosmetic descriptions.
all of this could also mean they are bi. We don’t know.
a very small minority is pressing though, and there is also a minority is is pressing against it.
in the end, explicit exclusion is not needed and the devs have already said that they want to be inclusive.

I'm gay and I get weary of the complaining from the "LGBT" community at every single game/franchise. I'm someone who plays this game because it's horror. I've scarcely ever read the survivors back stories, but for shiggles I just read Grandpa's (Bill Overbeck- I usually play him). Not one mention of his sexual orientation. He could have moonlighted as a drag queen in Vietnam in his youth and we'd never know, because it's just not very relevant to being trapped in a netherworld being chased by a murderous killer. So what does "LGBT representation" even look like in this game?
I think the constant pressuring of companies to be "inclusive" isn't doing us any favours. It can get rather grating imo, and usually a small handful of incredibly loud kids on social media are the only ones demanding it.
The last thing I want is to have is a character that's draped in glittery rainbow flags with a Lady GaGa soundtrack running in the background lol. It's a survival horror game. Your sexual orientation or gender identity is irrelevant as you're dangling off a meat hook. Just my 2 cents.
most people are not complaining that much though, there are just asking to be treated equally to heterosexuals.
there are multiple heterosexual relationships mentioned in the backstories of character, none of them have anything to do with them being in this game. But it’s lore and it’s okay that way. We don’t need explicit exclusion of anything LGBT+ if heterosexuality is already here.

Personally I don’t understand all the posts about a character specifically in the LGTB+ community. From my point of view and I think others too they don’t understand why it has to be their whole personality ( or it’s coming across as people want it as a characters whole personality) I’m pretty sure character like Jake park and others are suggested to be in that community anyway. It’s kind of like your asking the lore of a new character to be solely around that they are gay or anything when a lot of the backstorys don’t even include romantic relationships. I think If people want something specific cosmetics of different pride flags would be pretty cool for all characters.
Literally no one wants a character whose only trait is being LGBT+.
those people want this topic equally treated like heterosexual relationships have been treated since introduction of Nurse.

I've rarely seen comments that i would classify as homophobic. Some people drew conclusions in different threads only because someone else said they don't want it to be forced and fear the character to be one-dimensional. Or they see it as some forced agenda by some groups. You can discuss about that if that's actually the case or not, but you can't make those accusations only because you feel like it and someone disagrees with your opinions and wishes, because those are serious accusations...
to be fair, while I haven’t accused someone to ne homophobic, why are these concerns only ever brought up when it comes to LGBT representation?
i never see these arguments against any other representation, well maybe when adding people of color.. but other than that, there is just no reason to assume BHVR would create the character like that.
and there are many worse comments in those threads directly saying they don’t want LGBT in the game because it would bring in politics or it would be shoved in their faces or because sexuality has no place in the game. Those arguments can be held against many already existing backstories in the game, but it’s only ever a problem with LGBT.

Caricatures of what a gay person is will always be "bad" representation because it isnt representation. You can have LGBT characters in media who are terrible people, but you can't present them as something they aren't without being self aware. You have characters like "shore leave" from the venture brothers who fits a specific flamboyant archetype. The character is grounded, and shown to be more than just gay however. It is made clear that the purpose of the character is meant to be an extreme, an outlandish example in an environment of extremes. Even then he isn't one dimensional. While his personality is a part of everything he does, its because its his personality. The things he is capable of make him an asset in the environment and his relationships with the other characters are what define him. This is an example of how a character can be very "flamboyant" and "wear those fab clothes" and still be well rounded. But even then this character isnt just doing "gay" things. They dont only "participate in parades" and "socialize with other people of the LGBT community." I dont even know what you mean by this? You think the LGBT is like a box? That you are an outcast by design? It just seems like you don't even understand what that means, let alone the difficulty with LGBT representation in media.
Stereotypes make LGBT one thing. They fit in their bubble, and thats it. Its just a facet of who they are. Its a piece of their sexual preference, its saying you are accepting of others who do not share the same identity as yourself. If being "gay" is a character trait why isnt being straight? What would that imply? What is a "straight" trait? Are they someone, anyone who doesn't dress nice or fix their hair? Are they bad at picking up social cues and awkward? Are they a "normal" human being? Being homosexual, or having a non-normative identity can never be the only trait of a character, because it isnt a trait. That would be like having a character whose only defining trait is they have dark hair, or that they are left handed. You can't build a character's personality off of something like this. They can need to address the issues of their identity, of course, but that isnt the same thing. That would be explorative, instead of exploitative.
So my problem here, is that we know almost nothing about the killer. We know they are some type of Asian Technology Demon? Or something similar. Being homosexual can be a part of their backstory in some way, sure. Maybe they were killed for a forbidden romance, okay sure the "lesbians always die" trope is overdone but fine thats workable. But why is this the first thing we hear? Why is the only defining trait we have from them that shes LGBT? If they wanted representation, just treat it like its normal. Release the character, their backstory, let us see it for ourselves. I dont want to see a token character, that isnt representation. We need characters, well rounded, defined characters, who also happen to be LGBT. That is representation, that is shining a positive light on the topic
I definitely agree that representation that is shining a positive light on the topic is needed and should be the way they start inclusion. So their first LGBT char should be what you are describing. But down the line there might be multiple LGBT chars in DbD and I don’t see why they should restrict themselves as much. They don’t have to restrict themselves with heterosexual characters after all.
why can’t being LGBT/some stereotype be a defining/dominant trait? There are people that define themselves like this and live in their LGBT bubble and they do have stereotypical behavior or appearance. I am not saying that every LGBT person does this or even many. But there are some. And it is not wrong to be gay and to have some kind of typical gay stereotype. And why should such a lifestyle not be represented anywhere? That doesn’t mean they wouldn’t have other personality traits either. And again, I agree this shouldn’t be the first or only available representation. (Maybe trait is the wrong word for what I am describing but I hope you get what I mean)
i am just saying there should be diverse representation of LGBT, there is not only one way to do it, otherwise you are showing a false picture and don’t represent the reality.
also we haven’t heard if the character is LGBT. We have some teasers that show some personality and appearance of the character but we don’t have any clue what sexuality they have.

But why?
if there is different kind of representation you actually represent humanity. Straight people can be represented positively and negatively as well.
i agree that bad/negative representation should not be the only representation but why should LGBT+ representation be restricted to only ‚positive‘ representation while straight not? And who exactly defines what is actual positive and what is actual negative representation?

I didnt even notice. Thats why Im confused here. Im not homophobic or anything but it just seems like things like a character's sexuality just aren't important to interesting character development.
Oh you didn’t notice?
but you are making a thread about how sexuality doesn’t belong into a game that already has sexuality in it?
sorry but it just seems like your actual problem is not sexuality but solely LGBTQ+.

Not much of those in my case.
Idk, just got a feeling this could turn things into that direction in my future experiences.
I don’t experience that either but according to the forums it’s something pretty common.
well, we will see if that turns out to be the case if the add a char that’s LGBT+. I am not really expecting that though.

It won't affect my gameplay, but i'm expecting Survivors will send me some death threats in the chat for killing Alphabet Survivors
And if not for that then they would have something else, like blaming you for killing people (survivors) of color or targeting only women or something.
those kind of survivors will always exist and find something.

Did the backstory for Elodie happen? She gives off some lesbian vibes, but they may have already established her sexuality, I honestly don't know
Nothing about Elodies sexuality has been revealed. Neither heterosexual relationships not anything else.
she was befriended with Felix, though that was nothing romantical.

There already is an existing char that was created with being LGBTQ+ in mind. But it wasn’t relevant to the story the devs wanted to tell about that character so we don’t know who it is. Chances are we will eventually find out in a future tome.
also, the devs can add characters with any traits they want. They are free to do so. And they have already stated they want to be inclusive for LGBTQ+.
this should have been the end of the story.

I try dude, I really do, but that's not something you forget, I try to act like I am okay about talking with people who are gay or lesbian, but I keep remembering what that sicko tried to do to me, he literally tried to force me to be gay. This is not a joke he literally harassed me into expecting it. On top of which he would've assaulted me in my own school! I just can't fully forgive, I just can't, I do have friends who are gay or lesbian but I don't ever want to talk about the subject of the matter ever. I'm sorry f it sounds pitiful, but I was just a middle schooler, I didn't ask for any of it,
no that doesn’t sound pitiful. Who am I to judge you over that? I didn’t experience that or anything similar.
but please try to find help, be it a therapist or a close (straight) friend, you need to find a way to live with other gay people without always feeling uncomfortable.
also -I don’t want to be insensitive- but keep in mind this is something the LGBTQ+ community experiences in some form or extent as well- there are gay/lesbians forced to live a straight live, they are forced to hide their real personality, marry and have sex with the opposite sex etc. That is why (good) representation can help: People learn that being LGBTQ+ is normal and can be expressed in many different kind of ways. Every LGBTQ+ person is an individual person.
