It was not meant to get an answer. I find it peculiar people are this invested in characters with depth of puddle like gta online character.

yeah, I know it was a rhetorical question,

but I was right with my assumption that you kind of have a problem with it.

people care, those characters are also more than blank slates, they have all kind of backstory and traits. You don’t have to care about it. No one forced you to read about the lore in-game or even participate in this thread. You can ignore it. LGBT inclusion will literally not affect you in any way if you don’t want it to.

Like this reply, yours didn't actually add anything to the conversation besides literally repeating what the one poster said but wording it differently to go with your agenda rofl.

It's a horror game, you don't got time to be thinking about who your next hookup is, it's run or die time baby!

Doesn’t matter, straight relationships are already featured. And LGBT will be too.

What answer? All I ask is if op care about sexuality of pixels on screen.

I gave you an answer, not directly from OPs point of view but general.

and I asked you if there was a problem with it.

may I ask why you wanted to know if OP cared about it? Because it was already clear that OP cared at least a little bit otherwise they wouldn’t have created this thread.

  • @Claudette_Baguette said:

I am gay and couldn't care less about a LGBTQI+ survivor.... Like who cares honestly they are fictional characters with reskins in a "horror" game.

And who says some survivor characters aren't queer already? Who knows that dwight didn't have a boyfriend once? Maybe nea is into girls?

Like who gives a damn about that... The lore of this game is boring anyway and nobody ever reads the archive log entries or other stuff anyway...

TBH I hate how goofy some outfits have become in the past, DBD lost it's horror theme a long while ago (elf dwight, box dwight, the onesies, weird santa claudette, onesie deathslings, cumogorgon, etc.). If they add like a drag queen or someone else to the game it would just be the nail to the coffin, that's Dead by Daylight and not an episode of rupauls drag race. Don't get me wrong I do some drag as well sometimes for fun but that not supposed to be in DBD. It's like the complete opposite of horror but whatever... Goofy stuff over horror I guess, we can't take this game seriously anymore anyway.

Who cares so much about what other people care about though?

LGBT addition shouldn’t affect you in any way or form if you actually don’t care. And just by adding LGBT chars they don’t automatically add more goofy cosmetics like Dwelf etc. those are in the game already and that had nothing to do with LGBT inclusion.

also LGBT inclusion isn’t goofy at all.

  • no problem at all for me. But the fact you actually had asked even though you knew the answer (because the whole thread was already about that topic) just implied to me that there was a problem with it.

But then again.. you didn’t even answer my question but asked a counter question,.

  • @Raja said:

You care about sexuality of pixels on a screen?

Yes there are people that care about fictional characters. Be it in Videogames, Movies, Series, books or other media.

and where is the problem in that?

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Are people saying that none of the existing characters in the game are LGBT? People speculate about Nea but some of Ace's cosmetics are too on the nose.

There are no confirmed/explicitly stated LGBT Chars but the devs have said that at least one existing char was created with it in mind! At that time they didn’t want to reveal anything about sexuality though. (Even though they still kinda did with Nurse who was married to a man)

I am actually concerned it will. I'm completely on board for it. I just don't want that to be the only part of a charactor they focus on.

It won’t. Really. There is no way they would do that.

bugs and all aside, on that one you can really be sure

A lot of people think pandering is disrespectful and disingenuous and takes away from someones character, but I guess they just have mush for brains right? Since they disagree with you and all.

Also always remember it’s only bad to pander if it’s regarding LGBTQ+.

that argument is never ever used against the inclusion of other topics.

i wouldn’t mind the Ellen Ripley model from Alien: Isolation though!

Some people pick characters they relate to..

Somebody might choose Kate because she’s into country.. others might pick Jeff because they’re a good Canadian boy as well..

There are characters of many races too so it’s only natural to assume other walks of life would be welcomed and wanted in the game.

If you play Oni because Oni big and Oni smash then to each their own.. enjoy the video game.

It’s funny how those people try to dictate others how they should enjoy a videogame

  • Well let’s hope that if we ever get Ripley she won’t look like that...

If it's as subtle as Legion's lore. I don't mind, especially since they are portrayed as evil and hedonistic sex fits with that image I bet.

In Felix his case, it's not about pure hedonistic sex, it's about having a child, it's about procreation and bigger purpose.

    Legions lore is subtle?

then why even assume LGBT inclusion would be worse?

the devs have stated they care about it and want to do it right. It will most probably just be like with David, just a mention in their lore.

Have you been under a rock since 2014? Its always the minority that whines the loudest. And they whine and they whine until they get what they want. Look at the Marvel Universe. New characters are created constantly whose only purpose is to fulfill a niche diversity quota and those will characters will remind you of that constantly because it is the only thing about them. This isn't just unique to Marvel either. Its happening across all forms of media.

And I've had enough of it. As a gay person, I do not want more negative stereotypes added in games to fulfill a diversity quota because a small, very vocal group of people decide that they do. I find it oppressive to creatives and offensive to the actual people those characters represent.

Also, why would you even assume they are adding bad stereotypes? And what even are bad stereotypes?

give BHVR a chance to make good representation.

Maybe stop seeing the world so black-and-white. You are pretty much saying LGBT shouldn’t be represented in media whatsoever just because there are people that might have demanded it.

the devs said they want to be inclusive because of their free will and that’s it, you don’t have to like it but you don’t have to make stuff up.

and for every people whining for inclusion there are those that whine because they want explicit exclusion. And as far as I am concerned being inclusive is better than being exclusive.

and if they do it right and without extreme stereotypes even the better.

  • @SamRF said:

Representation of something wholly sex related. It's the same thing. I can only imagine that if I were LGBT that I'd be very embarassed at seeing how this non essential part of my life (sex) is being put on display as if it defines me.

Straight people are represented in the game already, with explicit mentioning of sex: legions lore and Felix being a father-to-be.

time to feel embarrassed for you I guess. Or you could just accept the fact that being straight or LGBT is not solely sexual. Especially being transsexual doesn’t even have anything to do with the sex life of the person..

  • @Orionbash said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1975952#Comment_1975952

I've actually stated on this post several times I'm against all forced diversity inclusion because it 1) Stifles freedom of creatives and 2) Creates unneccessary stereotypes.

And really? The same people that have been whining for months about not being represented in one videogame tell me otherwise.

Who whines about not being represented? That’s really a minority. Most people are just saying they would be glad if they are represented in some form or they can relate to a character. Almost no one whined about it or demanded to get a specific representation.

and again, there is no forced diversity. The devs freely do what they want to. You are making this up without any real basis. Just because there might be people that tried to harass the devs doesn’t mean that was the reason for it. And they clearly stated their reason. Who are you to decide that they were lying there?

  • @SamRF said:

Why should we have to focus on damn sex all the time. I don't want to be reminded of sex or anything lust related all the time when seeing a LGBT character or something. I don't give a damn what your sexuality is when it comes to my love for you, but for the love of God don't put this stuff in my face all the time. Sex isn't a central part of living your life, you would hope so if there's any decency left.

Being LGBT is not only about sex, it’s about Identity, struggles in life and platonic relationships, motivations in life etc.

and as long as there are straight relationships mentioned especially considering Legions lore you can’t say LGBT should be excluded because of sex, because it’s already present without LGBT.

  • Still think the colors are not used to represent any sexual orientation or identity but I may be wrong.

just seems like it’s fitting for that musical theme that they are going for with the character who clearly is some kind of entertainer.

  • @Orionbash said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1975418#Comment_1975418

I'll repeat myself. If you cannot function because a videogame does not represent you, or a lifestyle, there is something seriously wrong with you.

Literally no one said that they can’t function without representation. Doesn’t mean it wouldn’t be nice to have.

there is something seriously wrong with people that want to exclude only anything LGBT+ though.

  • Yeah many people have asked for that. Would be a good question for the next Q&A dev stream tbh.

  • Some people find clowns as they are terrifying enough (Coulrophobia)

and I would say there are definitely cosmetics that make him scary!

  • You should open a thread in the technical issues forum and give more information, like on which platforms you and your friend play, if you have linked your accounts to the BHVR account, since when you have those problems/when was the last time you could play together without issues

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/categories/technical-issues

  • Well there is still that video game Tony Todd voiced for last year. That could very well be DbD!

chances are they would wait for the movie to be out before adding a Candyman chapter.

  • It’s complete RNG. So I guess bad luck?

Again, I haven't said that that is a reason to not include people.

In your original comment that I replied to, you said that they other person was making it up. I was merely pointing out that, in fact, there has been a lot of hate on Twitter towards the Devs over this issue.

Oh I see. I meant they are making up the fact that this was the reason for them to be inclusive. i could have worded that more clearly you are right.

  • I mean, it would be cool if they mention something like this in the lore -if it is relevant to the story they want to tell. Just saying they don’t seem to exclude those topics.

  • @Pulsar said:

    I know.

I wasn't the person who said that was what caused them to be inclusive.

I was merely remarking that there HAS been a lot of hate on Twitter because of these issues.

Yeah, but there is literally for any and every thing in the game people that harrass the devs. That shouldn’t be the reason to not be inclusive. Especially when the devs want to do something.

  • @Orionbash said:

The evidence is on the forums and on their Twitter account back before pride month. Feel free to take a look for yourself.

I was here in the forums and I am looking sporadically at the Twitter.

nope, not huge harassment going on there. Literally. There is way more demands for certain licenses or changes to perks/killers, which may even take form of harassment.

but I guess them changing DS due to demands and harassment is okay?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1975406#Comment_1975406

There hasn't been any on the Forums, but I HAVE seen a lot on Twitter.

Most of it was when Felix's lore dropped and people were upset.

At the time Felix was added it was already confirmed that there will be LGBT inclusion because the devs want to inclusive

  • @Orionbash said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1975378#Comment_1975378

This is my issue with diversity and inclusion. Its a slippery slope. Now that they're adding LGBT characters due to SJW harrassement they'll have to add more and more characters to represent everyone, thus creating shallow characters represented only by their differences.

    Again baseless assumptions.

no that is not the logical consequence of adding LGBT Chars to a video game.

  • @Orionbash said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1975374#Comment_1975374

They want to now after months of harrassement. Not because they wanted to originally. 😒 Good lord.

And yes, I call out stupidity when I see it. Don't be dumb.

But there hasn’t been months of harrassement. At least not by many. You are making this up.

And just because there might be some foul people that did harass them doesn’t mean they actually gave in to that. That’s just your assumption without any evidence.

the only evidence we have is the devs saying they want inclusion and they want to do it right and not rush is.

  • @Dabihwow said:

I get it, I do believe lgbt should be represented, but I do believe it shouldn't be overdone. And there are many thoughts they could represent other then lgbt, what about Autism, or other subjects. I think they deserve just as much

nothing confirmed directly though, but she also has some form of skin condition that is never mentioned in her lore.

And if bhvr wanted to add an lgbt character of their own volition that would be really cool. But I campaigned for tolerance of the gay community, not forced acceptance via oppression. I don't want people to step on my shoes as a gay person, Im not gonna do it to others too.

They want to add LGBT chars. That’s just how it is now. It doesn’t matter if there might be some people that demanded it, they have shown that they don’t give in to demands if they don’t want to.

you are just making stuff up and call others dumb if they don’t agree with you...

  • @Orionbash said:

As a gay man I disagree with the OP 100%. By forcing the devs into representation and diversity we stifle the free will of creatives and it creates ######### stereotypes in return.

they have mentioned several times they want to add LGBT chars and that their previous stand on it has changed.

not adding LGBT is actually restricting the creativity greatly and why would you just assume they will be stereotyped anyway? Nothing points to that..

Felix wasn't added solely to appease straight white males. That's the difference between a token and a genuine character.

if an LGBT char is added they don’t get solely added because of being LGBT. They will still have other defining traits mentioned in their lore, distinctive cosmetics, perks that don’t have anything to do with LGBT etc.

  • @stargazer9 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1975160#Comment_1975160

I want to know why people care about this stuff? Especially in a video game and in a game like DbD.

Especially in a game like DbD it’s pretty normal to care about it.

we already have a very diverse cast of characters with different traits. There are already many mentions of straight relationships as well. Nothing of that contributes to the gameplay or changes it but it was here from the beginning. The lore and appearance of the survivors is -along with the perks which are not bound to the char- is the only distinction between them whatsoever.

and there are people that like to have chars in such a game they can relate to, some like to relate to appearance, others to hobby’s or jobs or even sexual orientation/identity. Why they like to relate to them nobody can really answer, everybody has a different reason. LGBT people do tend to like this more because they experience exclusion/discrimination their whole life, even in our modern age.

and again the best argument: it doesn’t affect anyone negatively in any way. Literally, there is NOTHING substantial against inclusion.

  • @stargazer9 said:

Do you guys seriously care about a fictional character's sexual orientation? I'm sorry but I find this extremely silly.

Do you seriously care about what other people care about, even if it’s just the sexual orientation/identity of a fictional character? Even though you could just ignore it and move on with it not affecting you in any way or form?

i am sorry but I find that attitude way more silly.

  • @Enlyne said:

While I for one feel good about an lgbt character (an open one that is) I'm still really concerned about the current state of the game, and since they really won't do health operations since they keep wanting to do them in badly prepared mid-chapter patches, I guess there's just nothing we can do as much as we try to bring the feedback to them.

I'm just hoping there's no hate threads or posts over the forums.

Yes, those two topics are completely different from one another though.. it wasn’t brought up when people speculated if the character might be a KPop idol or a hacker of some sort.

I don’t understand why this is brought up if the topic is LGBT..

Right I have no problem with an LGBT Character but for five minutes lets pretend Dead By Daylight isn't a broken game and needs bug fixes more than characters and lets just say this, who really gives a #########? I mean I'm not trying to be rude here but it's a character in a game which you only play based on how easy it is to use and what perks they have. Nobody plays Claudette just because she's black they play her because she blends in with literally anything on most maps making her incredibly easy to use not to mention the Self-Care and Empathy perks. If people use this character they will use it based on perks and how easy they are to use. I mean if they don't look like a ######### McDonalds billboard at night letting everyone know where they are I will probably use them.

    Strongly disagree on that.

personally i play every char, and i dont care if i get represented. But there are many people that do care and they like to play characters that have similar traits as themselves, be it appearance, personality, hobbys, jobs, and yeah sexuality and relationships. Identity. And that’s a completely valid way of playing. Especially in a game where the characters are just skins anyway.

there was this one fog whisperer that was so happy about the inclusion of Elodie, she said this was the first time she can identify herself with any character in any video game.
