Just saying more bloody streamers means less dying on first hook. And more points and fun for everyone

Am I the only one experiencing the HEAVIEST sweating in bloody streamer matches from both sides?

  • the devs have been saying in the last Reddit AMAs that they are looking at the offerings/offering system and that they plan to introduce completely new survivor items. Though no estimated time of arrival given, it would seem like it shouldn’t be too far in the future otherwise why even tease it already so early? But nothing was actually promised or guaranteed..

Also nothing really supports these ideas in the official year 8 roadmap… except for maybe Moris being reworked for the finisher mori.

I think this is more of a case of all characters having 5 teachables before the game went open beta. You can see a fair few traces of that in the general perks, ie., Meg with Resilience and This is Not Happening and Wraith with Unrelenting. Some more out-there guesses would be Iron Grasp for Trapper, Sloppy for Billy, etc.

I think there's even a few that would've been part of later characters' sets, like Whispers & Bitter Murmur for Nurse and Spine Chill for Nea. Hag, who was first conceived as the 2nd killer (thus replacing Wraith) could maybe have had Thrill of the Hunt and NOED? Ace could've had Plunderer's, and maybe og Slippery Meat, since those are both luck-related.

Lorewise, you might be right though.

it does feel like they do make the lore up as they go so technically it would make sense if these were Meg perks at some point.

I don’t even want to imagine the bloat of perks we would have now if they had decided to stick with 5 perks per char

  • @tjt85 said:

Mine is Resilience because you need a lot of it to be playing Solo Q some days! (and I like the perk too).

Also, I think the girl on the icon is supposed to be Meg and she's my main Survivor.

Not trying to burst your bubble but I think the devs stated that all general perks were once teachables from survivors (or I guess killers) that are now in the void. So I think it’s not supposed to be Meg. Also possibly the same survivor for ‚This is not happening‘

I can see the resemblance to Meg though, especially in the expression on the Resilience icon

  • I will never understand this mentality of wanting stuff that others should not get a chance to get later on..

What would you even get out of that? People asking you where you got it and you can answer 'sucks to be you as you cant get it!'? Thats kinda awful

  • I really like the perk icon of Vigil and I think it’s kinda fitting for me personally even if I don’t really use it in-game - supportive and looking out for others.

Had rainbow birb for a while after it got added for obvious reasons and do love them very much. But in the end it’s Fridges pfp really. I still use the charm on all my chars always.

I would use the perk icons for Light-Footed (because best cat) or Lucky Star (because it’s such a great icon and such an iconic scene)

  • a spider killer is among the most requested currently (next to werewolf and vampire - which I guess will be covered with the next killer).

But the original killers we do get (like Singularity, Unknown) do cover horror niches as well and people have been asking for these kinda types.

And licenses are a big reason why this game got so popular, they might not be for you personally but there are undoubtedly many people that care about the additions.

    -Bias

"prejudice in favor of or against one thing, person, or group compared with another, usually in a way considered to be unfair."

By the definition it would seem otherwise.

"prejudice in favor of or against one thing, person, or group compared with another, usually in a way considered to be unfair."

I guess it’s mostly used in such a way but it doesn’t have to be - as per definition.

Slim pickins for posts these days. This new consultation thingy changes quite literally nothing so imo there's no need for me to feel strongly opinionated.

right now there's not much to say about it.

it’s not even new. Just that members now are allowed to make it public. And still - you don’t need to say anything especially if you say ‚who cares?‘

They only listen to consultants but even so they only take some of their feedback and apply it to their game. Where did I say that I'm hating? I'm merely pointing out the facts.

why would you think they only listen to consultants? That’s just a baseless assumption no facts at all. And assuming it’s is like that is literally kinda hating on BHVR?

    @Blueberry said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3729290#Comment_3729290

I get where you're going with this but I think it's misusing the word bias again per my main point.

Bias means an "unfair" leaning towards one side. Emphasis on the "unfair". IE only wanting buffs for their side because it's what they play. So by what you're saying we'd have one person on each side "unfairly" wanting their side to get better improvements.

What I think you mean is people who mainly play each side for different perspectives, but still aren't biased.

bias doesn’t need to be unfair or even negative

  • @ShowNoMercy said:

So the devs only listen to 1% of total feedback given.

    Ok.

That’s not even remotely what’s been explained?

So reading all this and the discussion, all I have to say is "cool". And to everything else, all I have to say is "who cares?"

I think we are just starved for content waiting for DnD that were just inventing nothingburger discussions.

Congrats to anyone who got in, and I hope you're able to make a positive influence.

‘who cares‘ is always such a weird statement. Like.. why even comment if you don’t care 🙄 there is plenty of topics on these forums, guess what I do with thread that have topics I don’t care about?

What influences game decisions regarding balancing etc is something we as a community can care about - I am really happy I started this thread which lead to Peanits shining a bit light on this program and making some things clear.

    Thanks for that valuable feedback.

I've just had a look at this official trailer:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1_DhOrH4Ds

It seems similar to how I'd have imagined a DBD PvE to be, from first impressions it seems like a zombie style game. Hopefully it's more than just the traditional 4 player co op though.

It looks very similar to the state of decay series at first glance, which isn't necessarily a bad thing but I really hope they deliver and that it comes to console.

you can try to join the insider program to directly give feedback during development!

    https://insiderprogram.bhvr.com/

  • Project T is currently in (open) development, it’s by another studio that is owned by BHVR, set on the Entities Realm -but outside the known trials- and a PvE game

  • well. Do you have an internet connection? Which platform are you playing on? Tried to repair game files/reinstall game?

  • can you share your source where the devs said this?

as far as I know, MMR hasn’t changed and is still only using escape/kills but I also do not remember the devs saying what you remember

  • @Liam282 said:

Kinda tosses Fog Whisperers' under the bus, many of them were under the impression the feedback secion in their section of the discord was being looked at and listened to. Especially people like Otz who has put countless hours of his time (along with others) into trying to make the game a healthier spot, even to the detriment of his health at times. What's the point of having these sections when clearly they're being ignored in favour of these consultants? What is the key factor determining your decision making on character profiling? The factors listed are very vague and from what i'm seeing this is a cop out to avoid employing full time staff on a good wage to contribute more meaningfully. There are plenty of qualified people out there who fit these areas listed, and yet they've been hidden from the community instead of being more open as you where in the past, when the game originally was developed.

many of them were under the impression the feedback secion in their section of the discord was being looked at and listened to.

what makes you believe they ignore feedback from fog whisperers or even from the community/PTB etc?

the Consultant Program seems to be focused on stuff that’s not been revealed yet at all to get fax beforehand - which may influence some balancing before PTBs or they just use the feedback to compare with the actual feedback later on and already form backup solutions or something.

    @appleas said:

I see absolutely no benefit in making information about this program public. In a way it's kind of creating another Us vs Them (Fog Whisperer vs Consultant) scenario.

It's also creating additional avenues of potential harassment, people who are unhappy with some game changes now have additional targets to blame and harass.

If X gets implemented which is chastised by most of the community, people will ask the consultants why they didnt speak out about X to the devs.
The consultants would probably reply that they did speak out against X but the devs ignored their feedback. Congratulations, now consultants look like PR figureheads to give off the illusion that the devs engage the community. Sounds like Fog Whisperer in another skin.

this is just saying that the community will be happy no matter what and find something to complain about or be toxic. Nothing new and nothing that would actually be prevented by not having to program/not having it public..

  • do you play killer on controller? Because aim assist/aim dressing/whatever it’s called in this game can really mess up your hits when on controller, plus naturally lower sensitivity compared to mouse.

If you see them doing it, don’t directly hit but wait until their spin is over.

as for spinning yourself, it’s quite easy - but only works against killers that are inexperienced or play with controller/low sensitivity. Just spin your character in one direction, and spin your view in the other direction, needs a bit of practice to pull it off

  • Shouldnt be a cheater.

thats Felix Richter, wearing pieces of different outfits.

Head is from an outfit with multiple recolors (this one could be rift exclusive at the moment though.. there is definitley some available with different shade colors in the in-game store)

Torso is from his Blighted Outfit - so only available during Halloween in-game event in the store.

Pants i cant directly identifiy. might be his default pants? maybe prestige? or from the same outfit as the head

The discussions that typically go on here would have me believe otherwise, but I appreciate the vote of confidence!

Still, though, Peanits clearly said that players are approached by BHVR, not the other way round.

This (and typically all social media platforms) kinda create echo chambers that doesn’t invalidate opinion from others just like that. I would argue that’s a good reason why you are a good choice

but yeah, no application process and BHVR approaches the consultants… doesn’t mean we couldn’t give them a hint

I'd be honoured, but I'm fairly certain there's other forum users who'd be vastly better consultants than me. I'm very 'slightly-above-average' when it comes to DbD, so I'm not exactly a good representative of highly skilled players, or lesser skilled players.

    too modest, my friend.

Players of all skill levels are needed, not only the extremes! And you are definitely one of the few on here to be and stay reasonable and capable of constructive feedback.

Yeah, I don't mind the program existing but I do feel bad for the Fog Whipersers who want to make a difference and then found out that BHVR already has a group for feedback. Like for years now Otz has been saying he has been msg devs about changes and feedback, the devs according to him have an FW channel in the discord server for this and now they found out all this. I bet few of them feel like all these years their feedback meant nothing at all. Honest I think FW are unoptimized and purely treated. I don't blame Spookyloopz and others for leaving a program where they don't feel like they are under valued. I have thought for a long time now that FWs should just leave the program to make a statement. I know I wouldn't want to be just some mouthpiece or PR person for this game.

to be fair, these people then probably have just misunderstood the whole point of the Fog Whisperer program and yeah if they expected to have more impact on balance changes etc and only joined the FW program for that they really should leave the FW.

But.. are we sure Otz isn’t part of the Consultant program? He wasn’t allowed to say anything up until now. But he is generally considered to give constructive feedback I think and should at least be on the devs radar for this program as well.

I don’t even care that much about BP offerings, those will just result in having to spend more time in the bloodweb, having to buy map addons and stuff that pile up and never get used.

  • @Peanits said:

Hey folks, I see a lot of questions and confusion so I'm going to do my best to clear up as many as I can.

    About the program itself:

    • This program is not new, it has existed since shortly after the game's release. Previously consultants were not able to confirm they were part of the group without breaching their NDA. We have recently restructured the program and allowed members to say that they are members.
    • Consultants are asked for opinions on upcoming changes and invited to closed playtests where they can give feedback.
    • While the program itself is now public info, the details of what they are playtesting and/or giving feedback on are not. Please do not ask them what's going on in there, they cannot tell you.
    • There is no public list of all consultants, nor do we plan to share one. We leave it up to each person to decide if they are comfortable disclosing it as it could attract unwanted attention and/or scrutiny.

    About consultants and requirements:

    • Consultants do not need to be content creators. While some are, others are not.
    • There is no application process. We select and invite people who would be a good fit for the program and fill the needs we have in terms of experience with specific aspects of the game.
    • Being selected as a consultant is not simply a reward for being a die-hard fan. Consultants are contractors who are paid and have certain responsibilities.
    • Consultants have varying experience (e.g. Killers they've mastered), preferences, playstyles, and skill levels.

About the consultants role & responsibilities:

    • Consultants must participate in closed playtests. Inactive consultants would be removed from the program and replaced with someone who is able to participate.
    • It is a consultant's duty to give feedback on upcoming changes that are presented to them.
    • Consultant feedback is used to help make informed decisions, but it is not the sole deciding factor. We need to keep in mind that consultants are highly experienced players and that their impressions may not always align with the wider community (though they often do).
    • Consultants do not come up with balance changes and are not responsible for how things turn out. It falls on us to decide what needs to be acted upon. (Please do not harass consultants if there is a change you do not like.)
    • Consultants are not QA - it is not their responsibility to test the game and find bugs.

Qualities we look for in consultants (among other traits):

    • Trustworthy, as they are given information early
    • A wide range of experience within the game (and ideally experts in certain areas)
    • Able to provide constructive feedback
    • Able to maintain a civil discussion with people who have differing opinions
    • Able to set aside biases when giving feedback or acknowledge that their biases may be influencing their opinions

Most importantly, none of this means that your feedback doesn't matter. This program helps us gather feedback for changes early on in development and make adjustments before they are revealed. Once they hit the PTB, feedback from the wider community is just as important.

thank you so much for these infos!

It’s very much reassuring! and I agree -even if I asked for one- a list is not needed and might be actually counterproductive. I was just assuming only content creators and that would be very biased and one-dimensional.

Able to maintain a civil discussion with people who have differing opinions

I guess I know why I am not considered 🤪

  • Honestly, an anniversary medkit is just a regular yellow medkit. Or in terms of self-heal, it's just a glorified brown medkit. Same function as normal medkits that appear in bloodwebs. it’s ‚at least 2 hours worktime‘, not overtime? We don’t know the pay but this doesn’t sound too bad??

  • imo the prestige blood cosmetics should work as an overlay for any cosmetics and not be separate pieces. I don’t want it exclusive only to default outfit but also not only for deep rift stuff..

I don't know how others feel but I do think it's dumb that they get an exclusive charm esp since they getting paid as well. Personally I dont care that much about the crow charm but I think its silly to give things like this to a small number of players who just happens work for you as well. It just creates more FOMO and stuff for ppl to complain about. Just my two cents on that matter tho.

it’s not the first charm like that. There is a charm only for devs, one for fog whisperers and one for social media moderators I think. Also the Twitch charm and shirts. So this is really nothing new..

But it’s really random to have this crow be the charm for this program - I don’t see the connection??

You don't know? This has happened in the past and content creators were already making suggestions to Behaviour. As for Behaviour taking their suggestions is up to debate.

As to why it's a flop? I mean, look how the game is now. It's just the same meta 24/7. Slugs, camping, gen rushing, giving up on hook, afk killers. What's the point when you only enjoy 1 match but then all the other matches is just extremely frustrating.

And content creators filtering out and them having a bigger voice and control over what is right or wrong is never a good idea. Civilization would collapse if we used this system.

this hasn’t happened before, it’s still going on from before?

And people have already stated that this is not solely content creators as I assumed at first.

Apparently the program is online for quite some time. One person from it said they are part of it for years. So there are things in the game which were created even if such a program exists. And IMO this just shows that not everything will be developed with the help of the Consultants. Because I cannot imagine that things like Skull Merchant or the Twins Rework made it to live/the PTB without basically every Consultant saying "yeah, this is wrong".

Because I cannot imagine that things like Skull Merchant or the Twins Rework made it to live/the PTB without basically every Consultant saying "yeah, this is wrong".

well. It certainly doesn’t need to be approved by every consultant and there will be some that were okay with it - we don’t know how much information they actually work with and which forms these take

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

This program is not new, it is apparently in use for years. It features people hand-picked by BHVR and not all of them are Content Creators, even tho I would say that being content creator will probably be a plus, simply because it makes BHVR aware of your existence. (You can have the best ideas for DBD, but if you are not a Content Creator or not very active on Social Media/The Forums, BHVR will simply not notice you)

I think the program is VERY good. Some people in there are people I would have wished on this form of program long ago (e.g. Scorpionz and OhTofu). However, making it public is not the right thing IMO. Because it will lead to things like "Why is person X part of it, but not person Y?" or "Why is my favorite Content Creator not part of it?". I have already seen some negative content from some communities of pretty biased players. So yeah…

But in general it is a good thing that this exists.

I kinda misread the tweet then. Yeah it seems like Hens said he has been part for quite some time.

Basically, it seems a to be a paid QA job.

I DO hope this is just this dvveets description and not official statement as this kinda sounds insulting for actual QA consultants??!
And it is reassuring that it’s not only big content creators!

  • @Pulsar said:

think if you can get enough people from either side, you'll work it out.

I don’t think this program is for us mortals. Only big content creators.

At least that’s what I am assuming, would be cool to get actual information about this program when it does influence the balance and development

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Could be a good thing. I think it's encouraging that someone like Hens who actually plays and understands the game at a high level is part of the program. Would love to see Dir3wolf (head of DbDLeague) get an invite. If it prevents DOA perks and powers from being released, then it will ultimately be a positive. I think it's BHVR acknowledging that they have an experience gap that they needed to get some eyes on. Certain things get released that are obviously broken to an experienced player right from the jump, like Skull Merchant, original CoH, FTP+Buckle Up, the Twins rework (PTB, but still), etc. This could help prevent those instances.

actually plays and understands the game at a high level

but that’s exactly what I meant, it’s only really gonna be content creators playing this game as a full time job and being a little bit far off of the actual bigger part of the playerbase.
Casual players/players in the lower skill bracket/new players (especially those!) already have it the hardest and this will not contribute for a better experience for them.

  • it’s not just you, happening to me and friends as well.

I would guess it’s a bug - though I haven’t seen it being addressed at all (and haven’t reported it myself)

You could look into the bug report section of this forum if it has been reported yet or if not then create a report yourself and see if it gets answered

  • how would you manage or detect it though?

People could run to the killer unintentionally/because of inexperience.

They could die on hook because they are being proxy camped/being left by their team. Or trying to unhook themself as it’s an actual mechanic in the game. There are perks/offerings encouraging it even. Then in second stage they could misclick and fail the skillchecks - especially on wireless/low performance platforms this is happening.

Sure I agree that those they do these things intentionally to get out of the match and screw everyone left in. But you can’t properly punish them without punishing those that do it not intentionally. So they would need to rework these in-game mechanics…

  • eh.

I would rather see more legendary skins for RE instead of new characters with new perks.

Though map potential is actually big. Would love Raccoon City Streets from RE3R.

would also like to see that Chinese market place from RE 6 I think? Something about it felt really cool and would kinda fill a niche that DbD hasn’t covered yet

Generally i agree with OP. The mode just highlights how ridiculous the game is that it is balanced around killers bringing slowdown perks, and around survivors bringing anti-tunnel perks. If killers don't, they have a bad time, and if survivors don't they have a bad time.

I agree that there are issues with the game and this mode highlights them (another reason why unlike this mode)

Imo, general problems like tunneling, camping, genrushing should never have been solely solved by perks at all and it’s stupid to just tell everyone to run this or that specific perk to be able to play the game. Hopefully the devs draw a similar conclusion out of this experience and i think over time they have shown they understand these issues (anti-3 gen, antiface camp, BT effect basekit, better base gen regression/kicking, no gentapping etc)

  • some people use custom pics for perks, I don’t know if you mean those? Can be used to change character portraits as well.

It’s basically just changing the image files to those that you want client-sides.
BHVR has stated they don’t have a problem with it and won’t go out of their way to ban those that do it BUT it’s still technically changing game files and if EAC ever bans for it BHVR won’t be able to help.

Or are you taking about the smaller perk icons that sometimes show up right next to your perk load out in game? They are smaller and either red (detrimental for you possibly cause of killer perk or addon effect) or light blue (beneficial possibly perk from teammate or boon effect)

  • I like the characters, Renato more so than Thalita but she is alright, a little… boring?

Also, i feel like their animations still look a little bit Sim-like compared to others, especially on Thalita, textures also look a bit too clean imo(?)

I appreciated getting new survivors who weren't wealthy socialites or famous celebrities. There's been too many of those in my opinion and I'd like to avoid those types from now on. But the twins themselves feel underwhelming as characters, I don't find them very interesting.

    wasn’t Thalia a model?

Im sry, that I need to tell you, but I think its a skill issue. Tunneling works best on weaker teams and survivors. If you get tunneled a lot, that means you are the weak link and your team doesnt protect you enough. Also if your teammates get tunneled you and your team doesnt protect your mates not enough. Yes I know solo que sucks, because the mates can be rlly rlly stupid, but its a team game and ots up to the team to protect against tunneling. If you have a rlly stupid teammate, that goes down in six seconds you will probebly lose no matter what. It sucks, but you will get good teammates from time to time.

Chaos shuffel is fun for me, becaue I can play killer without worring to have to play against 16 meta perks. You see in this mode how is a good survivor and how is just using the best perks every time. As survivor you can dont need to worry about getting a nurse with four genregression perks. With good team work you can easly win, but sometimes you get ######### by somthing like no mither xD, but is fun, even with getting no mither.

I really don’t like this take of blaming/shaming people for their lack of skill.

YES I AM bad and do not have skill. I never said otherwise.
but this is a game and i should still be able to have fun.
also SKILL based matchmaking should prevent this scenario of being the weak link in most of someone’s matches, no?

  • you get random perks which may create unplanned situations that are helpful/funny/whatever that you wouldn’t get

Meanwhile, in the normal mode, you still only encounter tunnel, camp, slug and genrushing but you also face only a select pool of perks that are being used in annoying/unfun ways.

You do not wanna imply that facing Pop and Scourge: Pain Resonance every match is fun? Or feeling the need to run those..

  • I think they said to expect ‚more info later this summer‘ - so sadly no, no direct estimate.
