  • So.. who are we expecting as second reveal today?

    Bill? Tapp? Maybe Quentin???

  • I didn’t really expect them to change it to Jamie Lee Curtis. Even though she said on a stream once she would have been okay with it..

She looks great! The hair seems a little bit too stiff in that short video clip though

  • Maybe it comes with the RE chapter?

but honestly it definitely feels like they are postponing it and this is a very good example where communication by the devs is lacking.

  • So… Pyramidhead is an S tier killer?

does that mean ‚Solid‘ tier? I thought Nurse, Spirit and maybe Blight are considered S tier..

I don't understand what sense does it make to reset it. Unless they are desperate... :(

Reset was necessary as the established MMRs didn’t reflect the current implementation of the system anymore. Nothing desperate about it. Here is the quote:

Thanks for all the feedback you’ve been providing thus far on the MMR Test that’s going on.

We’ve made adjustments since the previous tests and this has meant that the data collected was reset for this particular test. In view of that, you might find more disparity between your matches initially (especially with killers that you’ve not played much of recently) but with continued play these matches should balance out as the system adjusts to what is happening live, resulting in more balanced matches.

We will be continuing to monitor and welcome your further feedback.

Is it really your experience without MMR?

No, seriously, is your experience basically one small step below competitive DbD? Where the math doesn't add up and no-one even bothers to loop?

Not quite sure what you are asking here?

Full meta builds, strongest killers, scummiest tactics all trial long, it never ends

That’s what I answered to, that is my general experience. I can’t loop the killers I am getting matched against for long. As I said I am pretty bad (and so are all my random teammates) so I want more fair matches. I don’t want a killer I can loop for 5 gens, that would be pretty boring as well. I want fair matchmaking. Where I have a chance at winning and my opponent has a chance.

If he wasn't in lawsuit hell we would of already gotten cosmetics and a facial rework.

But then we wouldn’t have gotten him on Switch and the other newer platforms.

but we only got that late 2020. maybe (hopefully) cosmetics are actually on their way.. or the license holder just doesn’t want their characters to be presented with other cosmetics…

  • They have confirmed in one of the Q&A dev streams that licensed characters will be part of the model updates.

question is if really every single one will be or there might be license problems with individual ones (looking at the NoES license…)

  • I don’t think the Nightmare on Elm Stress license is still in lawsuit hell, is it?

they at least got the rights for the newer platforms recently. It’s just that the license owners are certainly not as easy to work with as others (just an assumption based on the available cosmetics..)

Just really sucks, wish it could tell the difference between an actual connection problem and leaving.

It sucks indeed but such an implementation would always be able to get abused by simulating an actual connection problem. That’s sadly on the community for abusing DCs like they did..

if this was really the first time I would suggest to ignore it, it really were just 5 mins then and it’s unlikely to happen again it seems.

  • Pretty sure that’s out of BHVRs control and you have to report that on the respective platform (Steam, PlayStation etc).

  • The penalty was only 5 mins of being able to search for a new lobby and you only lost one pip and not a whole rank.

if Steam put you on offline it very much seems like your connection to the Steam server was at fault, that’s not on DbD itself. Is this happening often to you?

i know there is Steam server maintenance weekly, but that is always Tuesday night, so that was probably not the reason here..

  • It’s intentionally not mentioned.

but we can be very certain that it is not only based on if you survive/get kills or not. That would definitely not take as much time.

Maybe have the devs not force people to play a side they don't want to because they barely give us any rift challenges.

I want to play, but at the end of the day everyone gets away while I'm camped on hook

No one forces you to play something you don’t want to play. Don’t be ridiculous.

if the camping is your problem, maybe adjust your playstyle. Play more immersed (while still progressing the objectives), use for example Spine Chill, Urban Evasion etc to not get caught in the first place. Or perks that help you evade a chase (Dance with me, Quick and Quite etc).

  • maybe don’t join a game if you don’t wanna play? Slugging is a normal part of this game..

if they actually force you to farm with them you can record it and report them for it accordingly. But if this keeps happening i am not sure if this is actually the case, at least i am not experiencing farming often at all.

  • Favorite is a tie between Nea and Jake, both really needed this and the results looks great!

least favorite is probably Kate or Dwight? Don’t know, something is off about it. It’s not really bad though.

For Meg I don’t like that they changed the hair color.

Nope. Been playing survivor yesterday and today. And the ranks look like rainbows.

I mean.. ranks should not be used to judge the MMR system.

but if you feel like you are only matched with significantly lower skilled survs than yourself, that is something different. Just wanted to make sure you know about MMR starting at zero

  • you sure it’s not like that because it’s your first matches in this testing phase?

Thanks for all the feedback you’ve been providing thus far on the MMR Test that’s going on.

  • Didn’t they say in a previous testphase it takes about 10 matches to settle the mmr initially and until then the matches will be pretty random?

you can’t determine if it works as intended from an individual standpoint either way. That needs more data and statistical analysis.

  • Keep the luck and fog offerings but rework the fog animations so the offerings actually feel like they do something and rework the luck mechanic to not only work for hook escapes but more impact on other things.

  • We know that the rank was reset to zero for everyone for this Testphase and it’s been not on for too long. It’s very much likely that those killers (spirit, nurse, wraith) just got to their high mmr faster than other killers.

you really can’t determine from an individual perspective if mmr is working or not. You need the data and statistical analysis.

  • You are literally describing how the current rank based matchmaking doesn’t work in this game. We don’t know how the MMR is determined.

also casual mode would get overrun by sweat lords to get ez matches.

They're focused more on "making the game on par with other games"... art-wise, without realizing that this game has major issues that need to be addressed first.

They're taking the "graphics over gameplay/stability" approach. Which went soooo well with infamous games in the past.

You really think the people working on models and animations etc stop the work of others that are doing gameplay/stability etc?

Mmr will focus your win and loses i think? If you lose again and again possibly you will getter low rank players. Or worse thing, mmr will look your gameplay time and you will always face with good players.

We don’t really know how mmr will be measured but it won’t be just win or lose (as this is already hard to define in this game)

But.. that’s my experience without mmr…

i am pretty bad on both sides but am high ranked because I am playing DbD way too much.

when I ask for fair matchmaking I am asking for what mmr is intended to do.

Yeah, I get survivors who are on my level or a bit more skilled. But what I had to face today was horrible

I am jealous. I want fair matchmaking too :-/

and so do many many others. That’s why they are trying to implement another matchmaking system btw. What you are experiencing during this test phase is pretty much the normal state for many.

  • so.. you actually get good matchmaking outside of MMR tests??

  • Pretty sure the devs have stated your individual killer mmr does not start at zero but will take the mmrs from other killers you have already played into account.

you don’t know why those mismatches happen, you don’t know your own mir nor the one of your opponents. You don’t know if the disparity of mmr in a match is due to queue times/available players at that moment. MMR also tries to ‚predict‘ the outcome of a match based on the mmr. Maybe with those matches it was predicted that the match would be in favor of one side. Maybe this is something they purposefully do for testing reasons.

you have no clue which data they collect and how they are evaluating their data

  • Maybe you should have given that as feedback then instead of your initial post, where you pretty much just said ‚I Don’t like change‘.

it is a work in progress after all, and the smirk is there, and the base model does definitely look like Ace. I can see what you mean with that underbite (I think that’s what it’s called) in the Animation, but that wasn’t your feedback in the OP.

That’s really only because of the expression.

look at the Video, there he has the confident facial expression even with the new model.

Since the survivors don't differ in anything except the model, do they all have to have the same expression? Wouldn't it be better for everyone to have their own expression?

The only model that I liked was Meg's, and it wasn't that I was very enthusiastic about it. I just see a very dark future for these new models.

The base models should be the same, to make shared animations possible.

The idle animations in the lobby for example should be unique. If possible give them also unique expressions in-game. But those take the base model as well and would still be easier to create if all survs share the same base (neutral) expression

  • @TheBus4K said:

Why doesn't he smile at the new model?

It’s probably just modeled with a neutral expression so he is on par with the other survs models and animations are thus easier to create.

    Eh.

In my 5 duo SWF matches at Rank 1, all of the teammates we got were sub Rank 15 and had under 100 hours. 3/5 Killers were Red Ranks, the others were also sub Rank 15.

My point was just that the picture of the ranks is not enough info.

i actually think that this MMR test is worse than the last and matches new players with experienced ones in a way that shouldn’t happen.

but we don’t know if the pics in OP are actually showing this or the Survs are using smurf accounts or something actually validly matched. Builds or points for example could help giving a clearer picture of this.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2258554#Comment_2258554

So you are saying that rank 20 can have experience to stand up to rank 1? Haha, good one! Crack me another one!

One of the rank 20 said he just got the game. He had 1 perk.

Yeah I am saying that. Because it is true.

the info about the one being completely new to the game was missing. But i guess you expected us to know that? (Could still be a lie btw)

and we really don’t know how the red rank killer plays. There are killers on red rank that that do play awfully. more context would be helpful instead of just showing the ranks during a matchmaking test that specifically ignores the ranks.

  • It was specifically stated that ranks will not be used for matchmaking while MMR matchmaking is active.

just seeing the ranks doesn’t tell us anything about the match or the players. Even a rank 20 can have experience in the game. Even a rank 1 can be pretty bad and on noob-level (I would know, since I am red rank but pretty damn bad)

  • There will never be a perfect matchmaking system for this game, it’s really impossible. Not every match will be balanced.

and if something is not working for a few matches for a minority of the community you will definitely see an exaggerated outcry (which isn’t even that severe now)

How are you determining that the MMR tests failed? You can’t see the statistics. For all we know it worked great but had some specific issues that were hard to fix (eg insta down killers/abilities).

Didn't they mention that licensed characters are included in the visual updates?Or is my memory failing me?

Laurie still seems a lot more likely though, seeing how NoES is right now.

Yeah they confirmed licensed will be getting touched as well.

but seeing that Freddy and Quentin are the only ones that never got any cosmetics added later on I kinda fear they might be the exception here…

  • Unlikely.

but I guess it’s possible.. they were trying to talk about this with the license holder and they did get the extended rights for the newer platforms for the NoES license.

at least some kind of update is expected. They can’t leave Quentin like this when they even improve Nea..

  • @APoipleTurtle said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2256966#Comment_2256966

Survivors technically have their unique idling animations when in a lobby or hanging out near the campfire too.

I would assume the real reason the survivors are easier to update is because they're all still pretty normal people. The killers are all more monstrous in design, which seems to be something the design team wants to better reflect with these model updates (Trapper and Doctor have much more frightening appearances than they used to).

Yeah but those unique surv animations are static and not in-game/interactive, so it’s still different. But yeah them being all very similar is probably another reason for them being done together

  • @BingBongMan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2256966#Comment_2256966

This isn't a a survivor vs killer issue, don't strawman my post.

I'm simply curious when we'll see more of the killers recieve model overhauls.

Wasn’t even meant that seriously, you can keep your „don’t Strawman Argument“ for another time (but it actually is a surv vs killer post if you read the op again)

killers seem to be revealed around their respective PTB/live update, and will obviously not get done at the same time. for survs they are taking another approach for whatever reason.

  • it’s really not necessary to turn every topic into a survivor vs. killer topic.. there were already some killers updated and the process for survivors is probably easier in a batch as they are already just skins of one another where killers all have unique animations

  • @ClumsyTrapper said:

Everyone read about items and Franklins right ex. Flashlights toolboxes and medkits? The crown wasn't apart of this or mentioned at all in the post

I didn’t think about crowns but the event items (I like to collect those on my survs as well)

but well… some of the answers are definitely related to the crowns and not the items..

  • @gilgamer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2256210#Comment_2256210

If you didn't want to bring those topics to the same level then why bring it up at all. I know there are several problems with the game for survivors, namely how weak solo queue is as well as queue times and randomly spawned dead zones. All those are important issues that should be addressed but because I don't think a bubba camping his little heart away I'm somehow some sociopath that cant see problems from others perspective?

Also I never even brought up the topic of whether someone should ever listen to me or anyone else people are free to listen to whoever they please, all I'm saying is that camping and totem spawns are vastly different issues. Camping is unfun I know which is why I don't do it, did you miss that part, did you think I said that purely because I don't like doing it? I know being camped is boring and frustrating i've played survivor before and as such I play pretty fairly but I also dont think its my place to tell another killer main how to play. Is that not reasonable?

And im sure many people are fine with totem spawns the way they are but i'd also argue there are far more people who hate them but think ruin is worth the variable nature of it, but even if totem spawns were made better that wouldn't change that either, it would still be possible to lose a totem perk before you got any value out of it even with better spawns I just want them to have a chance to at least be defended.

I was just bringing it up because of your statement ‚I'll think about that the next time I decide I hate myself and use ruin so that a survivor can spawn on it across the map thanks. Its just balanced that way‘

which.. just is the way it is. It IS balanced this way intentionally. Just like camping. Which many complain about but it won’t get fixed. There are perks and mechanics against it introduced (for hey protection as well as camping) . I didn’t want to compare them directly but some of the aspects.

you do have a chance to defend your totem. It may be harder for certain spots, sure. But that’s part of the high risk in ‚high risk/high reward‘

and they have improved totems for killer greatly with some of the spots and the visual update. And it can’t ever be perfect due to RNG and survs memorizing the spots.

  • @BrokenSouI said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2256210#Comment_2256210

Why is it so hard for you to admit totem spawns are trash ? And that it's not right for them to be right next to freaking generators

Pretty sure I already said that there are totem spots that need to be removed or improved. Don’t know if that was in this thread or the other that was created at around the same time though.

why is it so hard for you to admit that there are good totem spots already and that hex totems have the intended risk to get destroyed early on?

  • @gilgamer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2256192#Comment_2256192

But others also hate totem spawns so i'd say that playstyles shouldnt be related to inherent things in the game, trying to compare camping to totem spawns is such a massive reach it sounds like your trying to give stretch armstrong a run for his money

there are also many people -also among them people who use Hex perks- that are okay with the current totem spawns. It is well known and intended that totems can and will be destroyed early on.

So why should anyone listen to YOUR feedback on this? I just wanted to see if you at least look at problems on both sides but apparently, only your problems matter to you. That was my reach. I didn’t want to bring those two topics on the same level or compare them directly.

  • then please also don’t expect others to think about your problems.
