Depends on your Rng.
It's very short if certain Rng and addons are in play. It's not a problem at all if these are not.
I wouldn't call it RNG when killers know its very oppressive and its always either scream interrupt perks or severe interaction cooldown perks (because they know it's practically a free kill). That's always expected regardless of killer unless they're a newbie.

Traps deactivate in chase and a crouched Piggy is so slow that she can't keep up with a running survivor. And what you say is true, the Pig could just roam around the boxes and wait there - but this was an old problem that was fixed by adding a 5th box to Pig matches. If it didn't come off earlier, you're guaranteed to get the trap out during your 4th search, so if you see Pig camping a box when you're about to do your 4th box search, just go to the other remaining box that you haven't tried yet. Unfortunately getting out of a game early because of the killer focusing on you and hard tunneling sucks, but it's a tunneling problem that could be replicated with every killer, not a strictly Pig problem.
Now, instead of nerfing an already weak killer, two changes that would deincentivise tunneling trapped survivors with Pig would be:
- reworking the addon that makes Pig see the aura of people who are working on boxes and the MANY addons that have "survivors with active traps on suffer from X status effect"
- buffing her crouch and Ambush stats to make using her stealth actually worth it
Pig is weak, I believe she has a great and well-thought out kit overall, but the numbers on her crouch and Ambush powers are a bit low, whereas the Reverse Bear Trap side of her power is, at the time of writing, perfectly balanced imo. But with her stealth and chase power being weak and slow, coupled with those weird add-ons that just encourage Pig to go for survivors with traps on, are the root cause of the existance of this "tunnel the survivors with traps on" playstyle. Fix that and the problem will diminish. Simply nerfing the boxes would just destroy her viability as a killer
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3600371#Comment_3600371
"Nerf the Pig" is a long-running DBD meme because they nerfed her many times and a lot, despite Pig not being a particularly strong killer from the start. BHVR themselves have referenced it a couple of times in patch notes. The meme usually goes "We noticed that (X killer/perk) is overperforming, so we decided to nerf the Pig".
Her movement speed if she is running or in stealth is irrelevant when she already knows where you are going because she can see your trap timer, it's obvious that you're going to the box to attempt to untrap yourself else you wouldn't be in that general area in the first place.
You say fixed but I'm starting to see it almost every time I play against pig.

Trap timers pause when you are being chased. this is an edge case.
If the killer is in stealth they do in fact NOT pause the timer.

The pigs traps are in a fine spot. Right now. After the number changes from the upcoming update, they might not he anymore.
A tunneling pig is unfun but not unfair.
Yes. You might die to it. However, there are things you can do against her.
First: a Pig that is tunneling you first hook while crouched for over 2 minutes (150 seconds to be exact) is like a Bubba camping you in the basement. She's throwing the game. Gens will be done at this point if your teammate aren't bananas. In the case your the gens aren't done, maybe blame them not the pig.
Second thing you can do is abusing the pigs weakness. The early game. You have a trap. That means you went down. In what you describe, you even went down twice. Pigs not that strong in chase. Delaying the first trap for a long time is absolutely possible on most maps. It your team gets downed this fast against a Pig, maybe point the finger at someone else. If you get downed later the chances of escape are definitely not 0. If your team gets to escape and you are the last in the trial, you can escape through the hatch with an active bear trap. This needs teamplay. So yes. It's not guaranteed to work.
Thrid thing you can do is make her mad. If she follows you, you can just sit on a box and start working. Most pigs will panic and either down you or even hook you. This might be what you want. Getting hooked pauses the timer. And you can reassess the situation and plan accordingly. If the pig camp you while hooked, shes not different from any other killer in the game.
Next, you can analyse the Rng during the match, predicting the number of searches you have to do. If your teammate took a very long time, they might have had a 4 search trap. You already know one trap due to you already having finished one. Now you can predict how long your second trap will take. Then plan accordingly.
Last but not least, teammates can bodsblock for you while searching a box. They might go down for it but it's worth it if they haven't been hooked yet. This will keep you alive.
The Pig is weak in chase and strong with her traps. That's her main strength. It's lethal if used correctly. Therfore you have to play smart to win her games.
The only nerfs to the traps, that would not make her awfully weak and that are balanced are in my opinion are number changes to the gear addons and the jigsaw scetch and the survor being able to die while searching a box. This would damper the lethality of the traps drastically even if it doesn't seem lite it would at first.
Please don't he upset at piggy. She's really not the problem right now.
Thanks for reading, you local 2000+ hours Pig main 🐽
Tunnelling is not the issue, its trap timers. They're too short and if disrupted 2x (even by screaming) then you're usually as good as dead since the killer camps the last 2 boxes usually when chasing survivors.
-
@Xernoton said:
A tunneling Pig wastes her power. It's stupid to apply a trap and then only follow that survivor. In the time it takes for that survivor to die, the others can easily do the gens because she doesn't apply pressure on the team. So a tunneling Pig is less of an issue than pretty much every other tunneling killer.
But I'll summon someone, who is a bit more experienced with this killer to explain that in more detail. Oh @radiantHero23, ye mighty main of the Pig! Hear my words and follow my call to enlighten this individual. Appear and share your wisdom!

Because it's a trial, not a mickey D's playplace, you're meant to have a tough time.
There's a clear difference between a "tough time" and "guaranteed death". There is zero counter play and that's the issue here.

I do think that from what you said what I stand the most with is your complain about her being able to follow you in stealth when you have a trap and it stays on. It does not make sense at all gameplaywise (boring, there is nothing to be done against that and it’s a secured death if paired with deadlock and other passive slowdowns) nor in actual lore of Saw. Saw traps are meant to give a chance of survival to those who are tested, so you are not suppose to make sure somebody dies like she can do in the game if played like that.
I really hope and wish she will get changed to buff her chase potential and remove her ‘me puts trap me follows this person crouched until head blows up” gameplay style.
Her following you in stealth is exactly my issue, that's what gives you 0 chance to escape and guarantees the kill. I also think the pig needs a buff, especially to her lunge attack since it takes too long in general, it's a surprise attack not an audio check attack.

Nah, it actually is unfair if you think about it; Survivors get a 4% chance to screw over an earned outcome, but there's no converse chance for a "screw you" type of event happening to survivors like tripping and falling once per trial while running. Plus there's the issue of bypassing the dc penalty by giving up on hook.
I'm talking about the 4% chance for a survivor to unhook themselves. Look at this post for example, bro had one super lucky unhook and clutched up and he's already on the forums, imagine if it was increased. As for survivors ruining the game.. that's just a feature of the game sadly. I personally think it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things unless you're trying to rank up.
-
@Mooks said:
Just wait until you find out that any killer can just target/tunnel you without any repercussions… it requires even more time to let the trap finish you off compared to just downing and hooking you again in most cases… seems like your teammates are also to blame as they activated the trap knowing what the killers plan is?
the traps have been nerfed already btw. So while still rng dependent, at least the pig can’t just body block one trap removal and force a kill by being idle.
The only issue here is trap timers and being stalked with no repercussions or counter play. Nothing else matters.

I don't see it as an issue atm. Perks have to remain somewhat strong to be desirable by killers. This one is in a good spot.
-
or ones that don't have one at all, making the perk useless.
-
The 4% is not unfair lol, I've had possibly 100+ games where I've been able to unhook myself once. You just got super unlucky.

@adaw0ng said:
As somebody who mostly plays solo Q this feature is something I've been waiting for for the longest time, especially since the introduction of boon totem perks to the game. This is because for example if I want to run a build that plays around cleansing totems (Clairvoyance, Inner Strength, Counterforce and Overzealous, for example), I risk the chance of my team mates running boon totems perks and we literally counter each other.
This feature would be one step forward in the elimination of gaps between solo and swf that we have been looking for in the past years (HUD for survivor being updated, etc etc.) since it will help solo players be more syncronized with their builds. We will know who can be slugged without a problem because we already know they have Unbreakable, who we don't need to rush for a save because they have Deliverance, and so on. It would be a feature that would not make swf any stronger nor they could "abuse" and would put solo closer to their level and therefore get easier and more successful balance adjustments in the game.
As a final note... Please, I can see already comments coming such as "there is a chat for a reason". Remember that the chat is not a feature which all platforms have nor can use. Oh, and this is a feature already on DbD Mobile (1st picture below, 2nd picture is a picture I found that somebody edited to emulate how it could look on the core game version!)

Regardless of what you say on the forum people always look at the negatives and say no.
I say yes this should be added because it stops teammates doing stupid things in game when you know you could have saved them or saved time on going halfway to a hook when they had deliverance. There's always going to be toxic people and lobby dodgers. I for one could care less what others use. This would help with pipping and reduce the stress for it but after that it doesn't matter what others use. This is what I've wanted for months too and I'm surprised it's not already in the game yet.
If people still aren't happy as usual, give them the option to turn this on or off.
-
It's not the loading screens that's the issue it's the need to have to ready up after every single game. That shouldn't be a thing in a 2023 game.
Yeah initialisation takes too long still lol.

Who at bhvr designed this challenge and thought this one could be done organically by a majority of the player base without leading to swaths of them throwing the game or wishing to uninstall out of pure frustration over it?
One blind while the killer is carrying a survivor is difficult enough for your average survivor player, but two? In a single trial? Seriously, whoever designs these challenges needs a reality check on how actual players play DbD.
I'm seriously considering to throw my games when I see a flashlight in the lobby and just let them farm this one, because this is ridiculous.
Wan't the easy route? It's toxic but tank your MMR and then go for flashlight saves... or, just play the game like usual and hope for the best. I did get like 30+ flashlight blinds in general last night and a few flashlight saves. It's definitely doable (and no I didn't tank my MMR I just got very lucky lol).

so what is it everytime you bring out a new killer they going to be stronger an faster than the last??? My friends won’t play anymore, everybody’s moaning when they do play!!. It’s not fun anymore, literally almost impossible to get anywhere, the last 5 games in a row NO GENS DONE everyone killed whilst trying to help each other because of stupid perks that give the killers a one hit downer!. You’re giving the killers EVERYTHING but the survivors got NOTHING!!. Survivor perks are waste compared to killer perks !!. So I know let’s give the killer invisibility, no terror sound, one hit and the survivors down, make them super fast, we’ll make it so that even though the survivor makes it through a windows as long as the killer takes a hit regardless of the distance the survivor goes down!. Also we’ll give the killer ability to see survivors aura’s a make the survivor scream when a killer downs another survivor !!. Well Introduce a ‘camper solution’ but in reality it don’t even work that well but it doesn’t matter because IT BENEFITS THE KILLER that way!!. YOU ARE RUINING THIS GAME WHAT DONT YOU UNDERSTAND ??!!
The game needs more survivors than it does killers and you are literally making me, my friends , god knows who else HATE THE GAME!!.
the attachment says it all!!. This games a joke
The reason you're getting 0 gens done is because no one is doing gens, spread the team out and don't stick together, only 1 person should go for the unhook unless they're being chased, chucky is really strong in close quarters but he's also one of the slowest killers. Distance puts him at a disadvantage, minus his lunge.
He's strong but he's also fun.

At the moment they can easily mindgame and there's nothing you can do as you just can't see where he is.
I think the easiest and most balanced fix would be to make the ghost permanently looming over chucky, but if he's in hidey ho mode the ghost is gone to keep the stealth aspect where it should be. Then I think he'd be pretty perfect.
Na that would ruin it in general, all they need to do is remove the delay in his ghost footsteps.

This doesn't need to be done.

I don't think it's necessary. Plus it's a lot more complicated than inputting Survivor bots (they have to train the AI to use the various Killer powers, and there are what, 35 Killers in the game now?). Each one has a unique ability that the AI would have to be programmed to use, and I imagine that's going to take a lot of work. It's the reason we don't have Killer bots in custom games yet, though I do recall the devs saying they will be added one day. But who knows when...
I think with AI like CHATGPT it could be implemented even faster than we thought possible. Thank you for the extra bit of info, I didn't know it was in the future roadmap already.

My point of you thinking about your idea was, that if you think about how the changes affect everything, you might come to the conclusion that it isn't a good idea after all or that it is only usable in certain aspects.
This is why I f.e. did not post an idea about a new killer I had, because his power was basically old SM 2.0.
I have thought about your idea a but and you run in so many problems starting with the questions I gave you.
I think it comes down to knowing that if you change one thing then you'll have to change a lot more things after that to help the community feel like it feels more balanced. That's why they had such a hard time balancing tunnelling and still have somewhat of an issue with hook camping. Honestly? If a killer wants to tunnel you you're almost guaranteed to be dead during that trial unless you're just better than the killer, I've had my fair share at surviving but I've also had my fair share of getting bodied lol. But the whole point of this particular hook/tunnelling analogy is that they still to this day are slightly tweaking things.
I feel like sometimes the killers are too oppressive but other times they feel lacklustre and weak. So it's definitely down to user error when it comes to their sheer power. My suggestion for reducing the ability spam would be good and bad at the same time, even if the dev's want to increase the cooldown by even a few seconds I'd be happy with that because it would help more mind games to come into play in general because you're without your power a lot more throughout the game.
But then there's the issue of maps, parts of the maps are heavily survivor sided and parts of the map are heavily killer sided, they'd have to potentially add some map changes along with that too if they added an increased cooldown.
So trust me I've thought of everything in general and this could still work, but the question is, do the dev's want to?

Mate.. You didn't see what was edited and deleted and it wasn't just me it was 3 different people. Don't tell me what they are and aren't doing when a simple sentence like this has half the words deleted or removed entirely. Someone else even posted that they've been doing it almost every single day for months to him. There's being a mod and then there's clear power abuse of editing every single post, changing every single word and removing posts in their entirety. There's even reddit posts about this from 3 years ago and being updated with new posts even till this day. It sounds more like you're just gaslighting than anything with this post so after this one I'm going to completely ignore you. Oh and no one is begging you to read this post, its called a feedback forum for a reason, my feedback isn't even for you specifically it's for the dev's, you're jus there reading it and replying your two cents, and if you read the numerous posts above you'd have seen I already addressed this point, which you obviously didn't which shows evidence of further gaslighting.

Maybe you SHOULD think about which killers would need this change in your opinion and how this would impact their gameplay.
Which killers really "spam"? How do you define "spamming" (SM or Trickster level or a Myers who just taps the button to 99 stalk)? Which buffs are required to compensate? Etc.
It's not our job as players to give them exact details for what to change unless it's just one tiny change, my post here is to a wide variety of things so me pointing out exactly what needs changing for every character will do nothing but give injustice because no matter what someone won't agree even if it makes sense because it makes the killer harder to use in general and increases the skill gap. At the same time the community assess a killers strength based off comparing it to the current strongest in the game (ie the nurse), that's not how you assess a killers power at all because when comparing you'll always find similarities and differences but some killers have completely different playstyles and are super oppressive (like legion, but this killer is classed as weak) and others are passive but can still feel super oppressive (like pigs traps when she follows you around when you try to take the trap off).
My post was merely to get the conversation going with the dev team if it was something they'd be willing to do (but they wont because of clear killer negativity, there are still valid points on both sides and the game does somewhat still feel balanced in a funny way even with some killers feeling stupid strong and minus the busted perks), I would sit here and list all the killers and the specific changes that need to be done but I ain't getting paid for it so why would I 😂
And see for killers like ghostface, spamming his stalk isn't really something of an issue ATM because you can tell his entire design was around his stealth and stalking (obvious ik but some people prefer to be spoonfed details so I have to explain it specifically), It really is a case by case basis.

And please tell me you don't see blight being chuckys dad? LOL
-
After playing against him games can turn south really fast. There will be an incredibly high kill rate with him in his current state and that's why killers find him really fun.
He is a stronger, more powerful blight. He's small so he's hard to see, especially through thick vegetation and his red stain sometimes also completely disappears when he is running through grass. His ability to vault over pallets make pallets all but useless, his ability to vault over windows incredibly fast also make it impossible to extend a chase more than 20 seconds. It's a little difficult to blind him inside dark buildings at pallets.. These two things are the core fundamentals of DBD (vaults and pallets) and giving such high base speed on both doesn't make sense. I do think that he can be somewhat of a tricky killer to use but from all the games I've seen not one killer has been in a chase longer than 30 seconds.
He is a new killer yes but I currently do not see any counter play except distance unless he slugs.
-
It still depends on what these changes are for 3 genning sadly. If they're huge differences then yes they might but if it's slight changes then they may just give her a slight buff but she was too oppressive in her launch state.

Today I had a game with chucky where the exit door opening time was increased to 50 seconds LOL and every survivor was inflicted with broken for 30 seconds. @Zeidoktor said:
If I've gleaned anything about BHVR's design philosophy regarding Killers it's that, more often than not, they want Killer players to be able to use their character's power as much as possible.
I first really noticed this when Ghost Face was last reworked, as it gave more benefits to Marking Survivors, such as rendering them unable to reveal GF.
The Onryô's rework was centered around making her Condemned an actual threat.
While it ultimately didn't make it to live Pyramid Head's ranged attack being made able to inflict Torment meant its benefits could be utilized more easily.
Similarly, the initial idea for Trickster's rework was to give him more ability to use his knives and try to make Main Event something you want to use be giving it to you more often.
At the same time, they're wary of a power being used not as intended. This is what prompted things like Hillbilly's heat mechanic or Pryamid Head not seeing where Caged survivors are, or Pinhead's box respawning if he camps it.
So powers are there to be used. They said, using them recklessly will still see the Killer player punished for it through cooldowns, stuns, or needing to reload.
And I'm saying the stuns just aren't enough.

Wrong. You realize DBD used to have no DC penalty and anyone could DC without consequence? DBD seems to be quite successful despite that.
Yeah but a lot has changed since then, there are a lot more people who think the reaction to everything is to rage quit (on every single game right now). It ruins immersion, it ruins normal gameplay and it ruins the fun from playing the game. You need to also remember why it was put in place in the first place, teammates would disconnect substantially more (I had multiple games each day where EVERYONE would rage quit) and with the DC penalty being added it reduced it drastically. Even I've disconnected a few times but nothing to warrant such a huge waiting period, if that's your issue with the DC penalty (and it sounds like it is) then you should take more breaks when playing as to not get mad and frustrated by the killer. Everyone has bad games, it just is what it is.

This suggestion would kill DBD overnight.

We have stated previously that we are looking for a solution to the "3 gen issue" - one that will have little to no impact on normal gameplay, when we have more information on our plans around this we will be sure to share them.
Maybe the resolution could be down to map design. For example some maps don't have any obstructions at all between gens and others are just too close to each other. OR... survivors could get a gen aura when a 3 gen is in play with the furthest gen flashing when the killer is not near it. This would then be up to the players to decide how to proceed with more information, or maybe even both.

All they really need to do is reduce the timer for buckle up. But if they want to make it interesting I would recommend the following: they can give buckle up 4-7s of use. This will add the 50/50 effect that the dev's love and the timer could be based off of the killers proximity.
Any other change would kill the perk completely which would just mean another overhaul down the line.

Survivors can just run around the traps in loops unless you place it in a very tight spot, which is usually only directly at the pallet. The problem with placing it there is that survivors can just drop the pallet making the trap completely useless. This is a major problem because trapper only has 2 traps, so after placing 2 traps, he becomes a M1 killer.
Sounds like you've placed the trap directly below where the pallet is. For me killers place it on one side of the pallet so when it drops it guarantees a grab.

Is anyone on PC going to wait for fourteen minutes while I painfully try to type out a single sentence with my controller??
LOL you can use a keyboard on console for text based input already so it would be quicker than that ^^

I don‘t understand why we don‘t have the chat after a game on console. I would like to read what some people write. I know some messages, maybe most would be toxic.
I would like a chat like in other games to communicate with others, so that you could maybe also find friends in game.
I wanted that chat after game too but everyone always sees the negatives and not the positives when it comes to it. I think it comes down to "will it make us money?", if that answer is a "No" then they don't even bother. That's my assumption anyway.

I wish, put since ire shards are a counter to behavior to make money off of cosmetics. I made a post to add ire shards to daily rituals but didn’t get much of a response out of it
Got to mortgage your entire house to get some shards lol
