  • "we dont want any more exclusives to exist" - the DbD Dev team.

also the DbD Dev team: *releases multiple platform exclusive skins*

  • thats why i down the survivor before checking the locker :3

and if you snitch on your team, you get facecamped :D

  • is it me or does this seem like Bloodlust as a base killer power?

i mean... i dont know, it doesnt really add much gameplay to them, does it? it just makes them ridiculously fast...

idk if i just misunderstood something there, but thats how it looks to me.

feel free to correct me if im wrong tho ^^

  • i personally do not have any problems playing killer.

sure, gentimes are absurd sometimes, but overall, in my opinion, killers are fine.

can we please stop asking like the devs had done nothing for killers?

we received buffs over buffs recently, obviously when the game gets into a more healthy state overall there would be nerfs to certain killers comming up at some point.

Nurse was just a question of time, Legion HAD to be changed (the initial "rework", not the recent changes. i not necessarily agree with those, yet i understand why they did them), Oni was literally announced to be nerfed uppon release. they could also just have delayed the release until they fixed the issue, ya know?

all in all there are good reasons for those changes.

its not like the devs would walk around their office and only think about which killer they could ruin next.

    oh and PS:

if a survivor runs around my trials, screaming "I HAVE THE POWER!", they better have a really good SWF backing them up. otherwise, i doubt they'll "have the power" for long.

Making them smaller would have huge ramifications on other parts of the game. For example, survivors would be able to fit through even tighter gaps that the killer cannot (fat shaming), clip through walls, and take loops way tighter than the killer.

You're not implying survivor's hitboxes are currently smaller than killers, are you?

    they are.

i mean... just look at the difference in size between the two roles...

That's the point. Doing dull totems will slow survivors down.

    is that so?

imagine 4 survivors dedicating their early game to totems.

you, as the killer, dont have any pressure. by the time you find someone, everyone of them has done a totem already - thats 4 totems down (well, unless you literally spawn on top of a survivor).

unless its a map with ultra hidden totems, this would barely waste time.

on top of that, this change would easily screw over any other totem perks, as everyone is now focussing on them. you'd basically nerf any "sneaky" totem that exists, like Devour Hope, which would really not be necessary.

  • no.

the strength of the perk lies in it being unpredictable weather it hits or not, making it basekit and therefore guaranteeing a NOED every single game would render the perk / effect completely useless, as everyone and their mother would now go on a huge totem hunt, therefore not activating the effect.

if you wish NOED to take effect, you will have to sacrifice a perk slot for it.

    @Mister_xD

For me personally, I feel that it would be too much. His traps being tangible makes them more powerful than any other trap. Since you can Immobilize a survivor while injuring them in the process, I think it would be too much in the sense that they would feel too broken.

I think he should be able to carry at least 2 at base, but not all of them. Not if they also tweak his add-ons and speed up the animation for setting traps. That's just my opinion from playing him.

I think many people underestimate how powerful his traps are.

well, i get that you think his traps are powerful - which they are - but how does that specifically break him?

as ive said all this does is to allow him to get his setup at the beginning done faster, so he doesnt lose 3 gens in the process.

the traps themselves would, by just this change, stay untouched.

every trap based killer works like this, why should the trapper be an exception?

its not like he could use his traps during chases or anything - well he can but thats a lot harder than Hag or Freddy, whose traps were basically designed to be used in chases.

even if he had all of them, he'd have 6 available - max. 9 with the bag add ons (he couldnt use them during a chase then though, since he is placing them too slow in that case) - and a survivor seeing him placing a trap can easily avoid the location.

the only time traps during a chase would be useful is to force survivors from a looping location and in your previously placed setup - which would make the whole "have all traps at hand" thing rather unnecessary.

and if your concern is that he could get a too strong setup at one location: you can disarm the traps afterall / completely avoid them if you know where they are.

locating traps isnt that hard to do after all.

if i missed an important part, please correct me, though i dont believe having that would make him too strong. i just cant see where he'd be over the top with it.

    @Mister_xD

Giving him all his traps from the beginning of the match would be too much. I'd say allow him to carry 2 at base would be fine.

ive seen that argument pop up quite a lot recently, though i never really understood it.

would you mind telling me why you think like this?

cause all this would do, imo, is to allow him to create a quick setup and then start playing normally, just like all the other trap based killers.

he would also not be significantly stronger with this, as, besides of the quicker start, this would have rather little effect on his overal gameplay. it would just make his power play out more smoothly at the beginning and make it more bearable to move the setup around.

regarding OP, killers just received tons of buffs recently.

honestly, i dont know what you'd want to buff here...

when they fix gen times, overall killer buffs wont be needed imo.

sure, we can buff the individual low tier killers, but i dont think a buff across the board would be needed.

  • here's my 2 cent on this:

i would hate for Evan to get a full on rework. i love his current power and i would really want him to keep it.

however, i fully agree that he isnt on a power level he could / should be on.

however, this power level can be achieved by buffing his power, not fully reworking it.

    i'd do the following:

    1) fix trap hitboxes. the current ones are. too. small.

    2) make the trap escape sequence a set in stone action that requires a set amount of time instead of RNG.

    3) give him all traps in hand at the beginning and allow him to always carry them all. bag add ons would just increase the amount of traps in a trial. rework the trapper sack add on.

3 quick changes to make him viable, it doesnt take much more.

  • no im not tunneling / camping. im playing the game. no such thing as camping / tunneling.

    just doing my objective.

just because its the objective doesnt mean there wouldnt be different ways to do it. genrush is a term that is used when survivors ignore everything just to get the gens done asap.

this is very much a thing, especially if they are SWF with toolboxes.

  • i love trying to hide, even though its dead obvious the killer spotted me and is coming straight towards me...

    almost 3k hours btw lol

  • @lynelmane said:

Me too. I also find the survivor challenges to be much harder than the killer ones. I play 50/50 but I can't get the second survivor challenge done (1 unhook during EGC).

I even set my steam name to "need1EGCsave" and I still can't get it. They should've put that one near the end imo.

ALSO playing survivor is awful because 2/3 killers have scummy playstyles or they play like #########. Or they go afk and NOED/Blood Warden kill everyone at the end. I hated playing survivor this week.

yeah i struggled with that one too!

got it from a noed billy tho lol

im currently struggeling with the "blind the killer while he's carrying someone" challenge... thats really difficult.

  • imo its also just way too big.

as a killer you cant apply any map pressure and as a survivor - if the killer has a hex - good luck finding the totem(s)...

the brightness of the map is something i personally wont be commenting on, as i as a killer seem to be able to play on it, however as a survivor i can literally crouch somewhere around the shrine and the killer will run past me like 50 times, not knowing where tf i just went.

would it be better if they'd decrease the distance between house and fence, so a killer could hit over the fence more often?

    just a thought...

  • there will be a map rework with this midchapter update, i am sincerely hoping its Haddonfield...

  • you toxic, toxic killer you!

  • uhm...

    no.

thats been tested and heavily abused by survivors already.

it could also lead to a game hostage situation - and there are already counters to facecamping.

namingly not killing yourself on the hook (if you are the hooked one) / doing gens (if you are not the hooked one).

and bam! there will ba a maximum of 2 kills that game - unless you feed the killer more kills that is.

like, hey congrats you managed to click on my profile and see i come from germany!

ive had sooo many racist comments against me that involved Hitler i actually lost count...

they arent even insulting, to me they just look like someone couldnt get a good insult but desperately wanted to be insulting and went at the dumbest thing he could find - which is rather sad tbh...

here three quick quotes i remember (not 1:1 quotes ofc):

    "Hitler would be proud"

"You are worse than Hitler" - cause i facecamped a dude btw

"oh look the nazis are back" <-- this one isnt 1:1, but i got those.

and i vaguely remember something about me being "robo hitler" who was trying to gain world dominance with facecamping? idk man...

ridiculous stuff like this. they usually involve a direct link between me and nazi germany though.

    so in short:

imo the dumbest insults are those that go against your race / origin.

like, all of them have one upside, and then a huge downside attached to them.

like ghostfaces "ghostface cought on tape" - tremendously increases the stalk rate when leaning from cover? - NICE! considerably decreases it when not leaning from cover? - unnecessary. insteat, it should be increasing both imo. the leaning stalk rate can be boosted more than the normal stalk, but the downside is just way too much...

    thats my opinion.

it just feels extremely cheap when multiple players get a "get out of jail for free" card just because one guy brought in an item.

thats just too strong for a single item - and again puts SWF above solo survivors, since they can communicate with each other and get more key escapes out of a single key / one can bring a map to locate the hatch easily.

I actually don't disagree with it being nerfed, I'm just saying I've just never really had it ruin a game for me as killer and I don't think it's a valid excuse to exploit a game-breaking bug to punish survivors who might not even use it. If someone who happens to be your obsession is playing like a potato right after being unhooked... you can pretty much guess they're running it and it isn't hard to either mindgame them out of their minute of "immunity" or simply go after someone else while you wait for the timer to run down. Because gens could also be getting popped by the other 3 while you're steady tunneling one... so it's not like it makes or breaks a game. Personally though like I said before, I never run DS as survivor. It's just not a must have for me.

well, since apparently not only i but also others have completely misunderstood your post, you should probaply rething your wording here.

because what i "quoted" was what i felt like this post was trying to address - the killer community abusing this bug to win easily ingame.

if you are only talking about a small percentage of killers, please say so. otherwise it will, like it did in this case, lead to confusion.

btw, now that i know what exactly you are talking about i couldnt agree more.

bug abusing is always a douchebag move to do, no matter who you play.

i only tried to defend those killers who were not abusing the bug / unknowingly "using" the bug with my post, since i thought you'd have attacked the killer community as a whole.

    sorry for the misunderstanding.

  • dude, most killers didnt even know the bug existed in the first place.

it also got fixed within like 2 days.

not everything is a "toxic tryhard killer abusing a bug for an easy 4k". the basement in general is a great place to hook someone plus there were tome challenges that literally required you to hook someone down there.

But if SC is buffed it will probally be god like. Before the nerf I always used to have it

well, i didnt mean it should definitely be buffed.

i was referring to his previous post and basically just said that a buff to the perk would be okay, since it wouldnt change the way the perk works, which would be the case with a rework.

sorry if that may have lead to a misunderstanding.

  • @AshleyWB said:

Saying "we just gave you 14 free cosmetics, why aren't you happy?" belittles the original point made. The original post later claimed that they had unlocked the cosmetics in the event but they disappeared.

Just saying trying to suggest labels such as ungrateful and rude to the people making these posts is not helpful.

You can see users criticising the original post just because they are upset at the cosmetics they fairly unlocked not showing for them still.

However everyone is quick to attack the one making the post without even acknowledging their position in the argument. Literally if you can't be respectful to each other then whenever you make a post you too deserve to be talked to like an entitled idiot. Not because that's right but because some of you seem to only be able to communicate like that.

im sorry, but when did OP claim that?

the OP literally only complains about not receiving those cosmetics in a rude way.

they may have added that at some point in the comments, but i aint gonna read through all of these comments here just in case they may or may not have added something later on. if it would have been the point of the OP, they would have added it to said OP.

the only vibes i got from this post were "ugh how dare you not give me everything for free, stupid devs!", so i said they should be happy they even got free stuff at all instead of complaining.

im also not sitting underneath the christmas tree, unboxing my presents and then complain when i got all my wishes but one - that is the definition of rude behavior.

if they really lost their cosmetics, im sorry for them and i hope they get them back soon - yet they could also have said so in a much nicer way.

a simple "hey devs, i lost cosmetic X to a bug, when can i expect it to return?" would have been enough. i doubt anyone would have called them "rude" or "ungrateful" then.

  • thats the first time ive heard someone say solo gameplay would get worse with a punishment for ragequitters...

usually my solo rounds are ruined by exactly that: ragequitters.

  • @Peanits said:

While I get what you're saying, we did just give every 18 free cosmetics earlier this week. The point of giving people the event cosmetics was to compensate for the fact that people had lost them due to loss of progress. We found a better solution that would have allowed us to award them only to people who had earned them. I'm sorry if the free cosmetics we gave you weren't good enough, but this way is more fair to the people who put in the effort to get them.

its amazing how you literally gave out tons of, previously very expensive, cosmetics for free and all people do here is complain that cosmetic X isnt included...

why is it so hard to appreciate all the gifts you got?

  • okay we all calm down again.

they are working on it. there will be a hotfix soon.

please keep in mind that its not that easy to programm a computer game and due to the constant updates its normal for bugs to occur.

instead of being insulting like you are right now, you could instead help them pinpointing the bugs to get rid of them?

    thank you.

Its just a way to say that should be reworked or buffed

    buffed - yes.

    reworked - no.

a rework would mean you delete the current effects and add completely new ones to it, which would be the same as deleting it.

a rework is basically what they did with Freddy - old Freddy has literally been removed from the game and they put a new Freddy in his place.

however, a change would keep the main aspect, in this case the ability to heal yourself, and then add something to it / remove something from it.

    here an example:

Small Game - if they were to add a totem counter to it and delete the trap locating aspect, that would be changes to the perk, since they removed something from it and added soemthing new, however the main aspect of the perk - locating hidden things - remains untouched.

its the same with selfcare. you should always be able to heal yourself. how it works can be changed, but the aspect of self healing should stay untouched.

  • @BunnyTheHutt said:

Letting people abuse bugs is not something that should be tolerated. If someone is reported for abusing the bug then they simply need too look into it. It's no different then any other report, you simply need too look into it.

there is a clear difference between me "abusing a bug" and "a bug appearing while i am playing / trying to unlock the archive challenges that involve the basement".

they said they'd already be testing a fix, so there will be a hotfix coming up soon.

but as long as the player does not specifically state that they are aware of the bug and are trying to abuse it, you should not ban players for using the basement, because there may or may not occur a bug down there. the killer cant controll the bug, it just happens sometimes.

as ive said before, there are scenarios where the basement is your only option.

this is also very different from exploids like the crotus prenn asylum exploid where one could teleport through a wall and stand outside the asylum on its 2nd floor. this time the bug is directly affecting the killer's gameplay and its unavoidable in certain scenarios.

the best option here is to fix it asap instead of starting to ban players for this.

there are good reasons why this shouldnt be a bannable offense - and the devs already stated they wont be banning players for this.

  • you are still allowed to hook survivors in the basement, due to archive challenges literally requiering you to do so.

you wont get banned or anything for it.

however, please dont hook survivors in the basement at the moment, if you have the chance.

PS: they are testing potential fixes already, this bug will probaply be gone soon :D

  • meta is strong.

    but strong =/= fun.

sometimes, you will find it boring to always rely on the meta stuff and grow tired of it.

or, like me, you prefer a playstyle that in general is not supported by the meta.

i think meta isnt really fun to use, unless you are a tryhard and only escaping counts.

but thats up to decide for everyone on their own.

  • i can definitely get behind that.

i'd honestly hate if they would just hand them out for free, since we had to work for them back in the day, but the store is something i too have suggested (also the auric cells only price) - this would make it fair imo.

players who grinded through the event got a free cosmetic and those who didnt but want it desperately need to pay for it.

that way it doesnt feel like our work was for nothing, while everyone still has the chance to obtain the cosmetics if they wish so.

Deep Wound just got changed. It now stops only if you are running or mending.

    thats good to know ^^

thanks for reaching out with that information to me :3

im not a legion player, i dont really notice such things immediately xD

  • no.

that is one of my main problems with Deep Wound, when the timer stops inside the TR, there is little to no threat to it.

pig traps already take forever to kill, pausing them in even more scenarios would take away all the pressure they are supposed to put on you.

in the end, you could just keep genrushing the killer even with a trap on you, which defeats the whole point of pig traps.

on top of that, if the killer would do that it'd be the same as hookcamping someone. they would waste tremendous amounts of time for a single kill.

on top of that, she can crouch and deactivate her TR at any given time.
