It isn't really your decision to decide what "shouldn't" be complained about. For people that enjoyed using DS has a right to be distraught at how the perk has went to hell with constant nerfs for sole purpose of making another side happy. DS users bought and played the game the same as you.
Your first statement is well taken. Although, to be fair that's a pitfall nearly everyone falls into.
Just remember that people aren't doing the community any favors when they defend overpowered perks. They're just making good change more difficult.

The irony in this post. Imagine defending ruin/undying.
crutch perks are gone. Git good.
for the record I’m red ranks both sides and use neither ds or ruin/undying. I don’t need crutches
Please quote me defending Undying. You just made a strawman argument.

Not everyone who is upset at the DS changes were abusing the perk. I for one, only care because they didn't adjust the thing it counters from a core mechanics perspective, even though that can be easily abused.
As for Ruin, I agree. Ruin didn't need a nerf. The reason I brought it up is because of the implication that "survivors get salty when something gets changed". When Ruin got nerfed, the pages were filled with complaints, which some like you would classify as "salty".
McClean said on Twitter that DS will only deactivate based on the player's actions. So unless you're progressing the game, DS will still function. In other words, a true anti-tunneling perk.
Also, I use the word salty when someone complains about something that shouldn't be complained about.

Just like how killers got upset when their crutch perk undying got gutted? Hmm. Goes both ways. (:
Sure it goes both ways.
But it's more satisfying when overpowered survivor perks are nerfed because of all the favoritism survivors enjoy.

I mean, I don't. I don't come on here every single day of the week.
The point that I am making is that you only think survivors are salty because DS being nerfed is the flavor of the week. When Ruin got nerfed, it wasn't survivors complaining.
Having a different opinion isn't being salty. Being salty is being immature about the feedback you give. If it's constructive why does it bother you?
I've been here longer than you, and I even I don't have that many posts (3000 is a lot).
Anyway, the reason I said survivors were salty was because it was the only logical answer to OP's question. Why would anyone who is knowledgeable about the game be upset over the DS changes? It's because those people were abusing the perk and now they can't abuse it anymore. Simple.
Also, for the record Ruin did not deserve a nerf. Killers used Ruin because it partially remedied one of the core issues with DbD (aka gen rushing). The only compensation killers got from the devs was a toolbox nerf and a few other minor changes.

Survivors complained about Ruin, and the most recent upcoming Undying nerf?
I know I don't partake on the forums much, but I am pretty sure those were killers complaining.
You said you don't partake on the forum much, and yet you have over 3000 posts?
Also, I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. Survivors have a history of getting salty when their overpowered perks get nerfed.
-
Survivors tend to get a little upset when their crutches are taken away. Just give them some time to accept reality.
-
When learning how to play victor effectively, your best bet is to just experiment. That's the only way you'll truly learn what your limitations are.
Keep practicing and experimenting.

What's the issue with slugging? Against good survivors you are required to slug.
There are also literally multiple anti-slug perks.
I would always rather be slugged as then I have a chance of not losing a hook state. There's no difference between you sitting on the hook or sitting on the ground from a game play perspective other than at least on the ground you aren't spamming space bar and you can try to crawl away.
Literally the hate towards slugging in this game is so irrational.
Survivors don't like slugging because it counters their gen rushing. That's the real reason they hate it.
But when it comes to the Twins, I don't know why players complain so much about them slugging. Plenty of other killers can slug just as well. It's strange.
-
Spirit or Hag.
-
It's all fun and games until you come across an Oni main who knows what they're doing.
-
The devs made DS much less abusable. Good changes.
-
Once again, the devs don't consider the individual player experience.
-
I'll say this much: It's definitely a step in the right direction.

Me after seeing the Decisive Strike changes:

Overwatch. Now that I'm on PC, I might pick up Overwatch 2 when it releases.
-
Yeah, they're pretty bad. Not as bad as killer queues used be, but still pretty bad.
-
"DbD is mostly balanced and people should just stop complaining"
-
I feel screwed when I have to play with purple ranks as a rank 1 survivor.

Im not at all blaming them for winning, this seems to be a misconception. Im just confused as to why they win and then absolutely HAVE to be super toxic about it, the teabagging, the emote spamming, the rude post game messages.
Then the first sentence of your post should be "Why do survivors have to be so toxic all the time?"
-
My killer power: Tax Collector
"Your experience as a tax professional working at the IRS strikes fear into the hearts of survivors. Each time a survivor throws down a pallet, they will be charged 10,000 blood points from their personal account. If a survivor doesn't have the necessary funds to pay the fine, then they will be unable to interact with pallets."
- Also, whenever a survivor is sacrificed on the hook or mori'd, the killer will quickly add up any fines on their wrist-mounted printing calculator. A slip of paper is then torn from the calculator and rudely thrown at the survivor.
-
Because DbD doesn't have any serious competition right now.
-
No one is forcing you to browse the forum. All of us are here to talk about Dead by Daylight. And that includes all the negative aspects of the game.

they should rename the game then becoming , SURVIVE TILL DAYLIGHT instead : DBD.
Here's a better name: Dead by Survivors
-
I nuked a survivor team with my Nurse so hard that one of the players made a steam forum post about it. That was about two years ago.

At the end of the day, Legion is still highly susceptible to looping. As long as that's the case, Legion will never be a good killer.

These 3 perks completely shut down slugging. Still don't know why people aren't running WGLF. If more people ran this perk slugging wouldn't ever be a viable strategy.
You don't even need those perks most of the time. Just stay split up and the killer will have a really hard time slugging everyone.
-
If you've ever played against good survivors, then you'll know why killers slug.
-
Dead by Daylight is almost a completely different game on PC compared to console. The killer role is so much better when played with a mouse and keyboard. Playing survivor with a controller is not terrible by any means, but keyboards having less input delay gives PC survivors an advantage.
In short, PC players have a hardware edge. High refresh rate monitors (with built in crosshairs), mechanical keyboards, gaming mice, the ability to unlock the fps cap, etc.
And for the record, I have 1000 hours of DbD experience on console (and a lot more on PC). So I'm quite knowledgeable about this topic. That said, I don't think players should disparage others based on the platform they use. Bringing up mechanical differences is one thing, but trashing someone because they play on a certain platform is something totally different.
-
C'mon, you can do it. Just a little more grinding ;)
-
Kindred and Spine Chill are staying on my survivor build for the foreseeable future. Both perks are so good that I just have to run them. I could swap out Dead Hard, but it's the exhaustion perk I like the best (despite the perk being bugged atm). My 4th slot is flexible.
And with my killers, I do occasionally experiment with new builds. I don't always use the same stuff.
-
DbD should have stayed a PC exclusive imo.
-
Welcome to solo queue.
-
I don't know what rank you're playing at, but DS is very common in red ranks.
-
You should know the rules by now.
Only survivors are allowed to run second chance perks.
-
Because I'm still trying to get my hands on a PS5 so I can play Bloodborne.
-
Probably because the devs thought they would be fun mechanics to add to the game. Unfortunately, they're only fun for one side.
Same deal with Moris.
-
Right now it is, but as soon as I can get my hands on a PS5, I'm playing Bloodborne and Demon Souls.

Devs can't design maps.
Badham got their biggest map rework of all time, and it's still a trash map. One of the worst, even.
I feel like when they make a good map it's purely by accident.
And the devs wonder why they get so much flak.
-
Honestly, I find it rather hard to pinpoint survivors based on noise despite having a good Sennheiser headset.
Maybe there's a way for me to make the volume louder, or maybe there's a trick to pinpointing survivors. I don't know.
So I would say Spirit is pretty hard to play. But that's only because tracking survivors doesn't come easy to me.
-
@EvilJoshy said:
I fully agree. The devs need to stop catering to new players and tell them to git gud. This is what happens when you hold someone's hand for too long. Or when you start handing out participation trophies because "everyone is special". Your just hiding them from reality. The longer you put it off the worse it's gonna be when it finally hits.
You can look at BHVR's track record and know that will never happen lol.
To be honest, veteran players should have seen this coming after Ruin got nerfed.
-
Thankfully, I haven't encountered too many Spirits with Stridor. Although, sometimes I get unlucky.
The only advice I can give you is play one of the quieter survivors, be unpredictable, and hope the Spirit player is bad.
-
The devs should have given Undying two transfers instead of one.
-
Couple of tips for Nurse.
- Survivors that look behind themselves tend to double back a lot. They also like to 360 spin your attacks (especially in corn).
- Get as close as you can with the first blink. If your first blink is too far away from a survivor, then that survivor will be able to mind game your second blink. Meaning, either they'll keep running forward or they will double back. As Nurse, you have to guess correctly.
- Be be prepared to lose a lot. There's a lot to learn when it comes to Nurse. Which means you're going to have many bad games. If you can endure the bad matches, you'll eventually get good with Nurse.
- Be sure to slug when you can. One of the worst things a survivor team can do against a Nurse is group up. If you notice survivors in close proximity to each other, punish them accordingly. Even if you aren't good with Nurse yet, go ahead and practice your slugging skills.
- Equip tracking perks. Once you get good with Nurse, you'll want to have a few tracking perks. But you don't need to wait until you're good with Nurse, go ahead and equip them now. I personally like Shadowborn, Whispers, Nurse's Calling, BBQ and Infectious Fright.
- While learning Nurse, don't use add-ons. It's best to master her base kit first. You'll become a better Nurse player in the long run. Not being reliant on add-ons helps ensure your blinks are as accurate as possible.
- Lastly, practice practice practice. That's really the most important tip.
-
I think it would be a big waste of time. The devs aren't particularly receptive to feedback.
-
I rarely see killers do this. Unless of course you're last survivor left and the killer is trying to stop you from the reaching the hatch.
-
Killers that I don't want more of?
Probably killers with powers that promote camping. *cough cough the twins*
-
Both killers are worth the shards.
Deathslinger is slow which can cost him map pressure. But his chase potential is pretty consistent.
Oni on the other hand is just an M1 killer until he has his power up. But once you have your power up, Oni can absolutely wreck survivors that are grouped up. The key is learning when to use your power and using it effectively.
Overall, both killers should serve you well. The question is do you want a killer that is consistently good in chases, or a killer that has tremendous snowball potential?
Once you decide, there's plenty of gameplay for you to watch on Twitch. I know ScottJund has an Oni guide on YouTube.
-
The first time I got all my killers to P3 was a while ago. I don't remember the chapter. Also, I don't have all the perks on my P3 killers.
Roughly speaking, it takes around 2000 hours to max out your killers. But keep in mind that I grinded a lot during blood point events.
The only killer that I haven't unlocked P3 for is the Twins. But since my other killers are maxed out, I could probably unlock P3 for the Twins in about one to two weeks if I really wanted to.
