Anyone here been playing as long as me....say early 2017 really enjoy this game still? I of course have my concerns with some things like when you get teams that make you feel like you cant really do much :') and of course toxic players on both sides. But besides that? I never really tire of this game much.
I’ve been playing since early 2018 and I can easily say this game is far more balanced then it ever used to be especially on the survivor side of things. There are still plenty of good swfs and on outdated imbalanced maps like mothers dwelling, grim pantry hadnofunfield etc it’s still quite annoying playing killer on those maps against good teams.
Killer in this game is huge and the main attraction to what keeps DBD afloat. I remember seeing DBD average 30k viewers in 2019 on twitch and now I think it’s around 40-45k viewers so an improvement for sure.. But are those viewers coming from mixer after it shut down in July 2020?
Skill based matchmaking is a hindrance to this game I would say for sure and I’m going to be honest a lot of these killer designs after Oni besides blight have been very very very unhealthy for the game especially trickster..
This game is floating still but alot of these big streamers that average over 500-1000 viewers are getting fed up and burnt out from MMR and a lackluster on the developers end listening to experienced players that have had many many many good balancing ideas for the game is catching up to them I think..
-
I don’t want another unhealthy poorly designed killer nor another survivor with corny perks.. I want more outdoor maps or more variations of the original realms like coldwind, Autohaven and Macmillans..
No more corny boring killers that can hit/shoot you over vaults and through pallets! Please god no….
-
Does anyone really like going against trapper? He’s pretty boring imo. Very unfun and un interactive as far as being chased. He can shut down a lot of tiles/windows that survivors have fun learning/looping around. I guess there was a random trap in the patch of grass around the loop i didn’t see him place there so I just die and get insta downed…fun..
-
I agree with this. A lot of popular streamers have honestly from what I’ve noticed are just burnt out from all the tryhardness SBMM has to offer. Ohtofu made a good point last night that at high MMR gameplay you pretty much need to play killers that require some/alot of mechanical and muscle memory to cope with good swfs like Nurse, Blight, and even duel engravings billy which requires alot of mind gaming and timing to outplay survivors in such a unique way and that right there just feels so monotonous. Streamers can’t even stream without focussing so much on killer gameplay anymore. I remember watching umbra/tofu etc play killers while talking to chat about anything and everything so easily and now you don’t see that hardly anymore..
-
I didn’t want to use the sword and shield to fight the tiger so I tried with my bare hands instead…I lost.. in case anyone cares…
-
I can vouch for this post, I’ve been randomly going in tantrum during the chainsaw sweep chasing a survivor in the wide open with just only activating my second charge..
-
I mean the majority of survivors in this game tend to talk a lot of crap end game chat via private msg etc.. at the end of the day it really boils down to how to handle it and just move on. I bet you that that person taking smack would get dogged on by a really experienced killer because of how many mistakes they actually would make against that experienced killer for them to capitalize on. Inexperienced killers tend to get really frustrated over survivors “that seem” to be good at the game..
Other factors such as the map you were on, perks, how many hours you have playing killer, what killer you were playing etc will play a huge part in you having fun playing killer vs how frustrated you will get..
-
@Lenox said:
Twins is one of my mains. I don't use that playstyle. However, the reason I don't like playing them more is because when controlling victor, you don't have access to a lot of perks. That feels boring. Can't see totems, etc.
You have the hit box of a truck and built in bloodhound..how is that never not boring to cheese survivors with lmao
-
The meta is what’s fun and accustomed when you reach a certain skill gap imo. Ruin is the most annoying killer perk to go against currently and playing as killer I would say it’s the maps that are frustrating.
I wish the devs would stop releasing poorly designed unhealthy killers and redundant survivor perks and start making balance changes to the current maps AND START MAKING MORE OUTDOOR MAPS THAT PLAY LIKE COAL TOWER!
And get rid of this awful SBMM it solves nothing..

Oh now doubt about that, I just dont understand why everybody is saying its OP. Yes the perks is very good but its not OP.
I promise you that perk will get nerfed as soon as Lerys gets re enabled next patch.
-
That perk is going to get nerfed wether people like it or not..
-
Honestly any killer with a brain.
-
I really agree that SBMM/MMR has been a hindrance to the overall fun and healthy gameplay. I’m a rank 1 survivor and killer and in a survivor perspective I get matched against killers who are trying win a $20 subway gift card with comp builds and playstyles while my survivor teammates seem to not care enough to try or are newer to the game and lose 2 health states within a 15-20 sec window..
In a rank 1 killer perspective I’m trying to get better with blight even though I got to rank 1 playing killers I’m good with such as nurse, wraith, Freddy Nemi and get matched against 4 good survivors still playing blight and on the majority of these maps such as mother’s dwelling, fractured cowshed going against 4 sweaty survivors on those maps its just not fun at all in fact it’s not fun for really any killer other then nurse (sometimes) to play against 4 sweats without having to either proxy camp hooks or simply tunnel someone to death which I hate doing but the majority of times at high level SBMM you’re forced to make plays that’s not going to be very fun from the survivors pov..
Known streamers and people whom have put thousands of hours into this game have made videos on so many good suggestions to make DBD more balanced in a better direction and the devs still continue to ignore the majority of their ideas..
This game will die if it continues to have SBMM and poor killer design such as trickster for eg..
-
Worst case scenario If a killer runs NOED and gets soft looped the entire game with no hooks, downs and kills all 4 survivors during egc with noed still up that to me is an issue not for the survivors necessary but that killers SBMM goes up for relying on perk and not raw mechanical skill.. that’s the flaw in f this MMR lmao.
-
Discordance, Brutal, Pop, Corrupt, addons: j memorial, dead rabbit.
You could run the best build with the best add ons and nothing will compare to time played. Having game sense against good survivors will net you kills and even wins, because truthfully Myers is pretty awful in this game.

Its broken and doesnt work
im an ashe 4 killer being placed with iridescent 1 survive with friend groups. This game is literally unplayable for me atm because every game i get walked in circles around
It’s funny to me because I have a iridescent Swf squad and we go against a lot of ash-gold rank killers, the thing is is that those killers are running builds like tier 3 Ruin, undying, corrupt and discordance/BBQ/Tinkerer with really strong add ons almost every game.
I would find it very very very hard to ever lose with that build against ash rank survivors.
If your an Ash rank wraith and you run a build like Ruin, pop, sloppy and discordance/tinkerer with windstorm etc etc, you will never lose against 4 ash rank survivors…. So to compensate for the build and time played playing that particular killer you will go against survivors who can compensate. Now you losing to iridescent survivors simply boils down to game experience and map knowledge.
-
SBMM is very boring at rank 1 high level survivor especially if you decide to play solo queue. All you really go against is cringy alchemist ring crow blight mains with a comp build or omega blink nurses with tinkerer ruin, pop and corrupt/undying.. it’s just not fun…

That is definitely not the way to use Spine Chill - that'll end with a lot of false positives from chases and undirected patrols. The amount of time I see survivors because they panic and prerun is unreal.
I mean the amount of times I see good survivors who pre run cause of spine chill to tiles and pause at certain spots where the killer can only come from either direction is pretty crazy there’s definitely no false positive there.
-
@ProudRinMain said:
So does anyone know how to find out for sure that someone has Spine chill equipped? And not just playing safe?
The proper way to use spine chill is to preemptively run to a gym or a safe pallet as soon as the perk lights up from a generator. If it’s a Swf on coms then the survivor with spinechill will tell their friends to prerun, smart survivors will place spine chill on the left side of the perk slots to get a better peripheral to see it lighting up on their screen.. There’s a few factors to determine if a survivor has Spinechill or also survivors might get greddy with vaulting windows because they have spine chill resilience together for 15% faster vault speed and you might swing and miss them playing killer..
To counter spine chill you simply moon walk to the generator if it’s behind a wall/ gym..
Is spine chill op? Maybe…

I'm not wrong.
Hahaha facts. There’s so many dogcrap maps in this game but hey let’s add SBMM instead of addressing the real issue which is strong soft loops and maps.. I remember playing against AngryPug on Gideon a couple months ago as wraith and I kicked 24 safe pallets. Fair map.

"Takes no skills to play"
You haven't played him before have you?
Yea I have. I run BBQ, Pop, Ruin, Brutal with crow and canker thorn. I’m on console and cheese survivors with this killer. He must take a lot more skill on PC then I guess 🤪

I would go to PC if I could, but there is zero incentive to, PC players don't have the right to tell console players to just switch to PC if they want things fixed for them. What with how the grind is in this game even if I got all my DLC and cosmetics for free I would rather drop the game then start lvling characters up again. Because I have been playing since late 2017 and I am not planning on switching to PC for as long as they don't have cross progression in the game.
Yes same, I have 4000hr+ on Xbox and untill cross progression comes out I’m not buying a PC. I’ve always had a problem competing against PC, I don’t know why behaviour included PC in crossplay on, it should only be PlayStation and xbox, idrk about switch. PC again can play on stretched res, uncap their frames over 100fps and play on reshade etc.. what does console have? 30-60fps and a controller where forced to play on a lower sensitivity if you want any control especially playing killer..
-
@JustWhimsical said:
How would you change this without making him worse for console players? That's the problem, if they make him worse on PC it's only going to make console worse, the only way would be if console didn't have the disadvantages that it did and honestly that isn't happening anytime soon.
I mean you play killer in general on console and you’re in for a ruff time lol
-
@SkeletalElite said:
Its not that there's no recoil, but much like any other game it's far easier to control and compensate for recoil with a mouse than a keyboard.
Dude I’m telling you The Trickster on PC is gross.. You put that killer in the hands of a 2500hr+ PC player with duel initial throw rate and a comp build and you will literally beam survivors down so fast to the point where you need to ask questions..
-
@Hoodied said:
Didn't play dbd often during the previous mmr test as the game was exhausting for me, and I only really played survivor during it
Was it bad?
As a 4500hr+ variety killer main playing the previous SBMM a few weeks ago was pretty frustrating ..I play on the new gen console so im limited to paying a lot of bottom 15 killers at rank 1 such as Clown, Myers, lots of pig, Doctor, trapper, wraith, Demo, legion, leatherface etc. Majority of my games I usually 2kd with 20k plus points or more and or 4kd. Did I have fun? Hell no.. Freddy is my strongest killer and there were legitimate games where I had to proxy camp my first hook untill second state and tunnel that survivor after the unhook, wait out BT, down them eat the DS, down them again kill them and pray theres still 2 gens up for me to win because that’s how you have to play against 4 insanely sweaty survivors.. especially on maps like, fractured cowshed, haddonfield, mothers dwelling, gas heaven etc.. basically 80% of the maps in this game which are awful for a lot of killers in this game. I played a pig match where I only got 3 hooks total and 4 maned outed on rottenfields because I just couldn’t do anything where as normally without SBMM it’s a usual 2-4k easily..

@ezrank1 said:
You see all over the forums crying about perks but I believe that the issue and disparity between the strength of both sides are more to do with each other's base capabilities to acquire and use information. "Overpowered" perks only make the glaring issue worse.
If SBMM taught me anything, it's that for that weekend it wasn't perks that were putting top-tier killer players in the dirt as we got to see the stress and defeat of big streamers on twitch over and over. Survivors simply have too many base resources and the camera (and perks) tie them all together.
The idea is simply to increase the killer base FOV and reduce the survivor camera height and FOV. This will give killers better opportunities to play around stronger loops. Also, fix the red stain or remove it. Survivors shouldn't be able to see it through small cracks.
I just want to play survivor once in a while with a decent queue time at red ranks otherwise my friends and I will probably walk away from this game (boohoo right?).
Also, if I am forced to play killer nerf spine chill so I can play for gen grabs on Ghostface or call USADA to remove growth hormones from Myers (whose idea was it to make a stealth killer 12foot tall?).
Anyway, it's a discussion thread so...
Im telling you man it’s the maps in this game.
-
I personally think looping doesn’t take a lot of skill especially if you can see the killer over the objects you’re looping at at higher level gameplay..What I think takes more skill is when survivors pause and wait at certain points of jungle gyms to see if the killer either commits or double backs to the pallet side then they play accordingly. Also survivors who predict if the killers going to double back at L and T walls, shack vault, long wall etc by paying attention to the red stain and win mindgames are good survivors imo.
Each killer has a unique power, a good survivor knows how to counter every killer power accordingly..
-
Well I haven’t personally experienced any lag mind you I’m on the Xbox series x but I’m also going to say that RPD is by far the worst map to play on. It’s boring unfun and just miserable for both killer and I guess survivor imo. I wish the devs would make more variations of Autohaven and Macmillans as those maps are fun for both killer and survivor..
-
Myers is very weak on certain maps especially coldwind, I usually run duel memorial add ons to get to T3 faster from stalking, I don’t have an issue 99ing my power and sneaking up on healthy survivors with monitor and I’ll moonwalk to gens sometimes to not trigger spine chill gamers.
-
Your nemi build is a 4/10
I personally run STBFL, Corrupt, PGTW and discordance/Infections fright and for add ons it’s definitely: depleted ink ribbon and Mikhail's eye which are by far his best best add ons especially combined..
Its very very difficult to hit good survivors with his tentacle in the open so to being able to just m1 and start obtaining STBFL stacks is nice in those situations. Corrupt is self explanatory, because his chase is strong, when discordance goes off after downing the survivor you’ll know exactly where to go after hooking and with the addons combined the zombies will periodically push survivors off gens quicker giving you time to utilize pop more efficiently.
Discordance also synergizes well with not only his power to infect multiple survivors quickly but to obtain STBFL stacks and pop gens too..
-
This new SBMM isn’t the greatest imo. Again I play a lot of bottom 15 killers in this game and I too find myself going against very strong teams wether it be against solo queue survivors or a swf. I’ve said this forever that the majority of maps in this game are so bad for the majority of killers. If I like to play alot of clown, legion, demo, pig etc and I 4k against 4 bad red rank survivors post SBMM, why should I be put against 4 good survivors playing as those killers on maps like Fractured cowshed or mothers dwelling, haddonfield, springwood etc.. you really honestly can’t do much unless you proxy camp and tunnel someone out the game before the last 2 gens pop which will lead to more unhealthy gameplay and further discussions.
-
This game in red ranks for the most part is strictly revolved around gen slow down perks, meaning how fast can the survivors repair the gens and power the gates before the killer gets a 4k..
Against good teams if you don’t run gen slowdowns you’re going to lose the majority of your games and depip unless you’re a good nurse.. I play a lot of bottom 15 killers in this game and run corrupt and pop or ruin/pop on almost all my builds..I wish I didn’t have to run slowdowns at all but these maps are so bad for 85% of these killers in this game. Imagine having no slowdowns as a bottom 15 killer against a Swf on fractured cowshed?
-
Hillbilly used to be one of the funnest killers to go against during around 3.0 etc... survivors would just play around pallets so often that chases were fun and interactive/interesting. Every killer after Deathslinger has become miserable to play against. Survivors just hold W to make distance and keep running and running and running. Chases are boring and waaay less interesting now then ever..

Then what about PS4 and Xbox one against PS5 and Xbox x?
The different level of optimisation for those respective generations should also be a notable difference and disadvantage for the former.
As a person who went from the Xbox one to the series x. Yes 30fps to 60fps is notable, but a platform that can uncap frame rate beyond 60fps up to 120fps and use resolution alterations to give them an advantage at the same time over console players is simply ludicrous.. the fact that people who don’t think playing on stretched resolution with 120fps and a reshade program doesn’t pose as an advantage is wild... again there are a lot of people who do this then what most people think..

How prevalent do you actually think cheating is on PC?
Just another player looking for something to blame his losses on other than himself
Wether it’s me beating a console SWF as killer or a PC SWF it doesn’t matter, the point I’m trying to make is PC players can alternate their visual and gaming experience to get an edge over “other” players. That sits at the back of my head and it drives me nuts... It’s honestly not fair..
-
@Pulsar said:
Console playerbase is likely bigger than PC.
Yeah you’re probably right but is the margin that big enough to keep PC in crossplay?
-
Imo Myers is one of the weakest killers in the game. His tier 1 is awful, majority of myers players including me run double stalk speed add ons just to get out of tier 1 as fast as possible, then what? You vault a bit faster in tier 2 and can insta down with an increased lunge at tier 3 for a short period of time..? nothing crazy honestly.. Most common builds on myers are: Monitor and abuse, Discordance, Corrupt and pop or surge with either memorial add ons or J memorial and hair bow add on. Maps like The Game and Hawkins will give him an advantage against survivors with out spine chill or SWF call outs. Good luck playing this killer against teams on open maps especially cold wind. All this what I’ve said is factored in rank 1 gameplay on both sides..
-
I wouldn’t disagree to a nerf, wraith imo is possibly a bit over tuned, his lunge after he uncloaks is a little too much, I also think all seeing add on could use a rework. Is wraith strong? Not really, I go against a lot of good swfs that really love to abuse windows, I personally hate running bamboozle because that perk is unhealthy and boring and I shouldn’t have to run an add on where I have wall hacks..
-
Nay,
Add ons: Discipline and either Electrode or Order
Perks: Discordance,Sloppy,Ruin and PGTW or Undying..

The point of an having an FoV slider is so people don’t HAVE to stretch their screens, and so console players don’t HAVE to buy PCs (btw, don’t tell people to “just buy the game on PC” when it’s not that simple).
Yes, it gives the Killer an advantage. But as you said, people can use stretched res with or without the FoV slider anyway, including Survivors.
And either way, it’s hardly an advantage but more a quality of life thing so I can actually see my surroundings instead of looking through a binoculars all game.
1920x1080p is like looking through binoculars? Interesting, You played a killer that elevated that much more with shadowborn and now you can’t play normally without it. That’s on you, just because YOU now are accustomed to a perk doesn’t mean BHVR needs to add a dumb slider bar. I’d rather see them remove stretched resolution before adding a Fov slider first.
again. Go buy a PC and play on 1080x1080p
-
From what I remember shadowborn got nerfed waaaay back in the day because it increased visual brightness and had an even bigger FOV if I’m not mistaken.
No shadowborn should not be base kit nor an fov slider. It gives Nurses, Huntresses etc an edge on hitting hatchets and blinks more consistently. Even Billys run shadowborn to hit rev backs easier.
People who run shadowborn on all their builds are scared to run stretched resolution particularly on stream because they think they’ll get banned..
You can play on stretched resolution on console it’s just in 480p, I used this on my Nurse for a bit, it helps but I mean at a huge price of awful resolution..
If only killers had the option to have a fov slider that would be unfair to survivors and if both survivors and killers could have the option it would be unfair for killers who don’t like the fov slider adjusted from default at all because then trying to mindgame a good survivor on increased fov would be a nightmare..
Buy a PC and play on 1080x1080p.
Playing killer on console is just...awful in general anyways reguardless if there was a killer fov slider.. I couldn’t imagine ever going back to a controller after playing on M&K..
All in all I think playing ANY game on an increased FOV/resolution is cheating.. plain and simple.
Hope this helped whether you agree somewhat or fully agree.

Wraith is Bottom B tier at best
If I know I’m going against good survivors I’ll throw on all seeing with either swift hunt or Bone clapper for addons. I’ve had some success against good SWFS with surge,PGTW, save the best and brutal strength. Good survivors will abuse windows, with all seeing you can see the slow vaults back over at L and T walls/shack. While chasing a good survivor cloaked try to get in front of the shack pallet/vault or any window in general and block them from vaulting or slamming the pallet, uncloak and use his lunge to get hits, good survivors won’t have enough time to run to the other side of the loop or shack window due to swift hunt and the lunge after uncloaking. Having map sense and simple things like baiting out DH etc..helps tremendously. Like If I’m on shelter woods and the survivor preslams a filler pallet that’s 30yrds away into shack window, you know that you can afford to brutal strength the filler pallet between the rocks, cloak up and get in front of that window before the survivor can vault into it because you’ve done it so many times because of map sense..
You can check out TricksterShadow 7k+hr killer main on twitch and watch his past broadcasts as he plays a lot of wraith
-
Instasaw Billys (Primer bulb and carburetor tuning guide) With spirit fury and enduring was oppressive to go against, even when maps like old Thompson house, Yamaoka, Bloodlodge, wreckers yard where good survivors could combo tiles/gyms together would still struggle against good Billys. I couldn’t imagine old billy on the new deadzone autohaven maps/ yamaoka now..
Crack Billys (Doom engravings with carburetor tuning guide) took more skill and more muscle memory development to cope against good SWFs but would majority of the time come up on top for the 3k/4k against Good SWFs excluding death squads..
The devs could remove the overheat mechanic and I think billy would be fair still..
Yeah old billy needed to be nerfed, that killer was way to oppressive because of how strong his kit was. Rev backs where not that hard to hit at all compared to flick/curving around filler pallets..
-
Im a 4500hr player and 4k at rank 1 killer almost every game I play against red rank survivors/SWFs, of coarse the odd experienced SWF will 2-3 man out against me once every now and then but those are experienced groups/death squads.
The solo queue survivor in red ranks experience is more miserable then playing killer for me and I play both sides equally.
A 4000hr killer main will have a WAY easier time winning games then a 4000hr solo queue survivor main will simply because of how easy it is to get to red ranks in this game. The majority of player base is survivors and the skill gap of actually becoming a good enough survivor to win/predict mind games and outplay an experienced killer is pretty big.
-
For me personally:
Doctor, his ability to stop you from vaulting and slamming pallets is very annoying especially when most docs run dissipline addons.
Trapper, Tired of playing against iri stone, looping and chancing not stepping in a trap to get insta downed. Literally the most boring killer to go against in the game currently.. The fact survivors have to watch where they step carefully especially on maps like cold wind, autohaven, Macmillan’s etc which are all popular maps is annoying..
The maps I hate playing as killer are Haddonfield it’s or obvious reasons and lerrys.

Goodbye console gaming! I couldn't stand playing on console anymore, so I finally purchased a gaming PC. I can't wait for the better FPS (should run most games at 180+ FPS). Gonna be weird using mouse and keyboard though... 😅
Meh, an Xbox Series x/PS5 is about $700/$1400 cheaper than a good gaming PC. I play on a series x with a MSI optix monitor and its pretty smooth. I’m capped at 120fps.. the only big competitive differences playing “DBD” on a PC compared to a new gen console is on PC you can play on stretched resolution to see over objects easier compared to the standard 1920x1080p and killer is easier to play on m&k for sure. Arguably survivor has a slight advantage when played on controller though. The game runs and honestly looks better on 1080p. So unless you’re playing other games, to dump $1000+ just to play DBD in my honest opinion isint worth it.. cross progression isint out yet either....
