I mean, new graphics are great. New Matchmaking is great. Early game changes are great...
But we're still suffering from myriads of sound issues that rarely seem to be addressed as concerns or issues that are being looked into.
There are cases where a survivor's breathing or footsteps should be audible but are not. Dying survivors seem to still be mute as well.
Sound is arguably the single most important tool a killer has.. why isn't it more of a priority for fixing or adjustment?
As a Spirit main I can second this! Spirit is one of the killer's that has to heavily rely on sounds and I feel that chase music literally drown's survivor's sounds out whenever I go into phasing. What's even worse about it that I was in a match on Disturbed Ward inside the building. I had slugged a Jake and left him there to go kick a gen. The gen was only at 20% and I knocked it back down to 0% with PGTW. When I turned around to go pick up Jake who was literally 5 feet from the door way I couldn't hear his crying. When I went through the door way I heard him crying loud as could be. I don't know if you've ever noticed SC, but almost every update something breaks about sounds.

Only a little bit of people believed me when I claimed it was good, but if you look at it now, it's one of the best perks to combine with Sloppy to bring gens to a crawl on killers who can easily injure a team like Legion or Hag.
Anyone else really enjoy the combo?
Thantaphobia is only a good a perk if you can keep both good map and chase pressure

Uh, no. Spirit is the only one. I can tolerate any killer that can counter loops, except her. :)
Than I stand correct! You don't like the lack of feedback she gives because
- You don't play her enough
- Your not trying to use your brain
You've gotten so use to mindlessly looping killer's that you hate having to use your brain to try to even wonder what she's doing or going to do. Idk I guess our playstyle's are different because I love the fact that she forces survivor's to use their brain

I AM AWARE. THAT IT WAS INTENDED.
That does not make it balanced or fun, just because it was intended. Just saying?
It's gonna sound like I'm attacking you when I'm not. The energy I'm getting from you is that you don't like facing a killer that forces you to play in a different way because you don't wanna use your brain, and you would rather mindlessly loop a killer?
-
@Snowstruck said:
I'm making this post, because a lot of people do not understand why a lot of people hate playing as, and against, spirit.
So...
For one, a lot of people bring up the "there is no indicator" argument, which is a completely valid argument. A lot of people will counter this argument by saying, "she was made to be that way!" And to that I say.. Old legion was made to be old legion, and they were changed. And also, the fact that she has no indicator is... quite interesting. Not only does it take literally no skill to sit there and fake phase (it's literally you taking your hand off your mouse) but anyone, and I mean anyone, with half a damn brain can do that. One of the only counters to that is running spine chill, but, realistically- not everyone will run spine chill. And if you need to run a certain perk to counter a killer, it's pretty stupid. It's like saying run distortion on a scratched mirror, or off the record. Plain and simple, it's dumb to say that.
Adding on to the last argument (to separate it) it's a 50/50 at loops, and not a skill based 50/50. No. The survivor has to guess if you are phasing at loops. That is ridiculous. You can stand still and get an easy kill if the survivor makes the wrong guess. That isn't a skill thing, it's an, "aw sh*t, i'm about to be outplayed by someone standing still." thing.. The fact that it's almost a luck based thing is damn ridiculous.
Another thing, if she's running stridor, you're basically screwed. One of her only other perk counters is iron will, which I didn't mention before because a lot of people just use iron will. It's a meta perk, so it's not something to complain about because a lot of people will use it, whether it's because of spirits or just juking at loops. So, if she does have stridor- you can't do your simple, start walking and hope she doesn't have the blood addon thing. No, you basically just.. have to make a guess, again.
Which brings me to my third point- one of her best counters is starting to walk when you are certain she is phasing, because she cannot see you in phasing. Problem with that is, again, without iron will you're screwed- and if you DO have iron will, and she has stridor.. you're screwed. See the problem? If she obviously has stridor, your best bet is to run like hell and hope she loses your scratches.
In conclusion- anyone with half a brain can master and destroy with spirit, especially with the right addons and perks. And it's just really not fun to play against. Think what you want, but this is my opinion, and you can have yours. :)
Fake phasing is what BHVR intended on her doing. BHVR giving her some kind of indicator that she's phasing will defeat the purpose of Rin Yamaoka, but it still won't solve the problem. Why? Because all she has to do is hide her husk and she can phase.
Those that are complaining about that "I hate that she's a guessing game" y'all are literally mad that y'all have to use your brain to counter her. The only reason why I can counter Spirit as a survivor is because ik how she think. So what if her chase's are 50/50, aren't all chases 50/50 depending on if you play your cards right? She's the same way, if she makes the right reads in her chases she can win that chase. Spirit is literally the only killer I have fun playing against simply because she's not like the other killer's where mindlessly looping them is the most effective way to counter her. What's so thrilling about running in the same circle over and over and over again?
I don't have much to say about Stridor and Spirit because I learned Spirit without Stridor and when I used it on her I felt that it was too OP. The only thing I can justify about Stridor on Spirit is the current fuckery with sounds and chase music being way louder than survivor's grunts of pain.
-
@Bovinity said:
I'd hate for a killer to be 100% audio based in this game.
I don't know if I need an equalizer or something specifically for this game, but there's always 500 louder noises overpowering everything. (Why is there just passive music playing so often, not even in chases, for instance?)
BHVR doesn't realize it yet. My advice to you is that your going to have to learn how to become tone deaf to chase music. Back in November they had finally fixed Spirit's sounds after the community as a whole said something about her sounds and other killer's not being to able to hear survivor's. Than a few patches later they literally flooded killer sounds with chase music. As a Spirit main I have taught myself to go tone deaf to the chase music
-
@gatsby said:
Spirit shouldn't be able to see scratches during her power like Legion and should have a cooldown like Nurse if she misses her hit coming out of phase walk.
Makes her take a bit more skill because Spirit players have to play exclusively off sounds and get punished for wrong predictions. Run Stridor on Spirit and she'll still be an A tier Killer, but not the S tier status she is right now.
Spirit has an add-on that does that. it's just a lot of player's don't use it because they rely too much on scratch marks
Sure! Let's go ahead and put a cooldown on top of another cooldown and decrease Spirit's usage and make her unfun to play just like Nurse. Spirit is fine, she literally require's survivor's to use their brain, and not only that, she gives survivor's a taste of their own medicine. Y'all rely heavily on the red stain to give y'all information in a loop, while killer's have to rely on scratch marks and sound, but the moment a killer makes a survivor have to use their brain or understand how the killer play's that killer needs to be nerf. She revolves around mindgames. "StAnDiNg StiLl iSn'T A mInDgAmE" if it isn't than explain this?
Spirit is literally being used as intended. Just because you can't mindlessly loop her like every other killer doesn't mean she's broken. Like Jeez I love you and all Mister Gatsby but I disagree with you whole heartedly
-
@EmpireWinner said:
she gives no feedback for survivors to work with, that the issue
That is literally the purpose of Spirit! She revolves around mindgames. Just because you don't have any feedback to counter her doesn't mean that she's broken. Spirit forces survivor's to use their brain instead of sitting around the corner of a loop looking for the red stain so they can counter the killer. Just because you can't mindlessly loop a killer doesn't mean they are broken
@BattleCast said:
IMO you shouldn't need a perk to fix a major issue with her power.
If your talking about Iron Will, you can throw that perk out the window (being biased to my playstyle). Yeah sure it works against Spirit, but when your playing against a Spirit that knows how to play around IW or fake phases to get a general idea of what it is your gonna do, she'll nullify IW and once again force survivor's to their brain. Spine Chill is the most effective perk against her from what I've expirenced.

Ds isn't the "god mode" people describe and it most definitely isn't trash.
Ds is mostly fair, until those scenarios where you feel like if you chase anyone your "tunneling".
My personal main issue is that a person with ds up will farm another ds user in my face and it just feels stupid.
I think if it just was deactivated when someone was hooked or only the most recent hook got it then it would be balanced.
What do you think should happen to help make it feel less annoying?
The problem with DS is that it last too long, and survivors will go out of their way to use the perk, just to punish the killer for being a killer, without any risk or down sides to the perk!
The community is in a uproar that the perk isn't a anti-tunneling perk, but the way it activates and the most effective way for it to be used is literally tunneling!
Imo either decrease the timer or give killers a way to deactivate the perk, with some kind of risk!

**disclaimer this is just an opinion after playing**
Alpha Squads who vocalize your every move to the entire team the entire match is a little underwhelming as killer, you're not feared, there's only certain kits that can cover the pressure gap that other killer's play styles just don't. Then they sit there and tag team and voice with dead hard and etc to extend chases to no end and it's the perfect distraction to rush gens. I've seen numerous topics about how swf is over powered, this and that. What are your thoughts?
I think the mid chapter is a good start to balance out those 3-4 end of line perks some people run. It opens up maps to not just be an endless circle chase every time, and make it more unpredictable options. It seems running the new ruin with hex:retribution is the only option to slow down games for me. i just wish for more options to put pressure, it forces me to stick to a certain build if i don't want a terribly fast and frustrating match.
Feels like nothing has changed really! I'm still working on my goal though! To get better at mindgaming

What about Spirit requires special skill or dedication. She's literally just put on a headset and rock and roll.
Since your so obsessed with this idea that she's a "Training Wheels" killer I'll have you know that only 2 perks make her that way! Stridor and Predator!
And since you wanna say that Spirit is easy to use, I challenge you to use a add-on that makes her tough to play without any of her 'Training Wheels" perks called Mother-Daughter Ring and see how easy she is to use since she take's no skill

This is an intentional feature of Spirit. She's supposed to be confusing.
If you want to beat this, assume she is both phasing and standing still when you see her stop. You will see what you need to do that counters both at the same time.
As a Spirit main I can confirm that this is the purpose of Spirit! Giving some kind of indicator will defeat the purpose of her playstyle! Only reason why I excel well at playing against Spirit is because I know and understand how she think's. I might not always escape, but I can keep her occupied long enough for 1 and a half gens to be completed!

A) You aren't sorry to be rude, you are clearly trying to be a flaming, condescending #########. Which is fine. You got out played and displayed it for everyone to see. I can see how that would make you a salty #########.
B) I didn't say you WANTED to tunnel anyone, I said you DID tunnel. I'm not going to argue your intent, I'm stating what is on the video. That's how freshly off-hooked people get away with BT. You could have lunged the Jane. You could have slugged the Yui. You could have pursued the injured Jane instead of the BT Feng. You could have made a number of plays that would have rendered you a much better result, yet you're mad because you grabbed someone who had the forethought to bring two perks to combat that exact situation and they were more effective.
There is nothing wrong with DS or its functionality. The perk itself literally says, "There's nothing to be scared of. - Laurie Strode"...survivors are SUPPOSED to be bold while it's active and they can be rewarded for using it in such a way.
Their foolishness got them killed! I let Claudette go because she managed to evade me the whole match even though I found her on the exit gates! But sure, I'm the salty one!
How did I tunnel? Jane wasn't fresh off the hook! When I had hooked Feng (She was hooked before Yui) Jane was already healed and working on a gen with Claud from what BBQ told me! Yui was nearby working on a gen so I pressured her and she made a mistake and got grabbed from saving Yui, which led to her getting hooked and me kicking the gen when I had no intention's on camping or tunneling! So I'll ask you the original question. Why did I deserve to get hit with DS when I wasn't even tunneling? And since DS isn't a anti tunnel perk that changes the question to why did I deserve to get hit with DS when I did what I was suppose to do as a killer?
So I guess the quote's in a perk explain what a perk does and disregards balance. Is that what we are doing now?
-
I get what your getting at, but the problem with DS is that it stays active too long which can reward survivor's with play's they don't deserve (imo)

I have seen too many discussions on this forum about DS, to remove DS, that survivors are "blessed from god" for DS, ecc. ecc. ecc..
The truth ? Ive seen from my ALT Acc (Purple Rank) and from my standard Account (Red Rank) that most of the killers tunneling at PC are just.... bad.
I give you some examples. Today, rank PURPLE im paired vs a rank 9 Killer. He was tunneling me for 4 gen, 4 gen....... This is pathetic. I understand there are some people inexperienced at the first match playing Killer but if you tunnel for 4 gen and you do 1 hook there is a problem, and the problem is with the player playing killer side..... Moreover im neither good looping so.... And i bet the same kind of killers are the one blaming to remove ds on this forum.... Please stop it, this game need fixes, and probably your gameplay need fixes too.......
And my little trip in purple - green ranks is full of those stories...
So, Killer Mains... stop begging to remove DS and other Perks and start to play.... better. You dont have excuse after last update which made so many maps less secure, with less pallets, ecc. ecc..
Sidenote: I dont play surv, i play more killer in DBD. I dont troll from my ALT account and i never play with Friends there to troll Killers, it's silly 100%. It's just for testing purposes.
Dear guys and girls, waiting your reply !
So tell me how I'm bad when I hooked 2 other survivor's that made mistakes in their chases, but Jane ran from the other side of the map to get unhooks just because she was invulnerable for 60s? And because I avoided Yui that should be enough proof that I had no intention's on tunneling. But please enlighten me on how I'm a bad killer when I got punished for being a killer and Jane is using a cutch perk with no downside's or risk's!

Jane wouldn't DStrike you if you did what I told you and you could easily wait the 5s left BT had on yui and you would have 2 people in the ground.
You got hit by DS for not using strategy and a counter to it.
And you could down feng as well and that was probably a gg, but yes you didn't do "any mistakes"
Still doesn't justify DS imo! Because all your practically saying is that DS I should have just left them alone to heal up and do a gen! That's the exact problem that I have with DS, this is a lost debate simply because DS has no downside or risk to it.
-

Or, you know, you can go for different Survivors. Usually there are 4 of them.
Than justify why I get hit with DS when Jane ran from the other side of the of map to get the unhooks just to punish me for capitalizing on Feng and Yui's mistakes!

You clearly did a mistake here, dont even post that this is laughable.
YOU did a swing instead of a lunge so jane's unhook animation would cancel and it wouldn't be a grab, do another lunge and it would be a hook trade, slug jane and potentially slugging yui, bam! 2 slugs 5 gens.
So yeah clearly you didn't do any mistakes here
Still doesn't justify why I should have gotten hit with DS! And given if I would have lunged at her she still would have gotten the unhook! So I'll say it again! Why should I have been punished for capitalizing on Feng and Yui's mistakes that rewarded me with hooking them, all while Jane got rewarded for literally acting brave with no downside?

For what it's worth, this shouldn't affect someone's argument at all. You can still like it or dislike it all you want, as long as your argument wasn't based solely on something you thought we said, nothing has changed.
I'm confused! So if it's not an anti-tunnel perk than what is it? Because it's mostly effective against tunneling killer's and the only counter's to it is to to not tunnel. If it's not a anti-tunneling perk than it's practically a god mode for survivor's that punish's killer's for doing what killer's do (example in the video below) and can reward survivor's with undeserved play's for example!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhke0kH3gD0Like in my video! I got punished for capitalizing on Feng's and Yui's mistake's all while DS rewarded Jane for literally being brave with no downside!

I don't get baited, I know who I keep tabs on.
When a DS does rarely hit me, I move on because that was MY mess up.
While you make valid points this is my attempt to get you to see one of the issues with DS
Short story long. Ling Ling tried to locker juke me and I snatched her out of the locker and hooked her! Yui tried to finish the gen (the one I kicked in the video), but she lead me on a chace long enough for me to bloodlust twice (I suck at mindgaming don't judge me), until she made the mistake of throwing a pallet down too early and making a run to save Ling Ling which resulted in her getting yeeted from a save. Jane was unhooked when I started chasing Ling Ling and was on the far side of the map
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhke0kH3gD0The point that I'm trying to get at is why did I get punished for Ling Ling and Yui making a mistake in their chases?
-
Get use to! It's gonna be like that for awhile. Doesn't matter how much we pressure or tell the devs about how crucial sound is for killer and they seem not to care. My advice, teach yourself to become tone deaf to the music and or to focus your ears to listen to something else besides the music!

That's because a lot of killers want easy kills. The game feels pretty balanced right now. This is coming from someone that plays both sides.
"That's because a lot of killers want easy kills." How does that have any affect on the killer/survivor ratio?
Most survivor main's that I talk to say that they don't play killer because
"I wanna play with and talk to my friends"
"Killer is too hard/stressful"
"I don't wanna get a taste of my own medicine"
Wanting easy kills has nothing to do with killer/survivor ratio

Imo survivor objectives isn't the problem. Lack of viability in non-viable killer's is the problem

That's wrong. Looping was not the reason for bloodlust but infinites and extremely strong loops. Devs being lazy to rework maps was the actual reasoning you think about it
Whatever the reasoning is for Bloodlust, but doesn't removing bloodlust legit mean that looping isn't a thing anymore? I see it that way because some loops are so safe and unmindgameable that killer's have no choice but to bloodlust the loop and make it unloopable, and if they remove bloodlust than doesn't that mean that looping is useless? I'm trying to look at from a survivor POV and I can't see it any other way.

Sprint burst activates every minute, even when you were being chased or you were running.
The most scary thing that I remember was seeing the HUD, that thing was so ugly.
Saboteur, oh that was delicious, you sabotage a hook, and never needed to do it again.
The amount of hacker was amazing, 4 survivors using hack and the killer with it too.
We'd had the brown and yellow map offerings, that even now days I don't understand why did they removed it.
No one used to look behind.
Skill checks were the most difficult thing on the game.
Wraith was really invisible.
We'd had hillbilly's space program, you uses your chainsaw on the harvester and fly away.
Vacuum pallets and windows could be used in literally the other side of the map.
You could flashlight save when the killer was hooking a survivor.
Killers, when breaking generators, had noodle legs.
The LAG, was so huge that you could escape just by it.
Our blood points were just counted to 5k, then it, it was just think when you had the 8k.

As a killer main, the only problem I have with the perk is when it's not being used as intended! Lot of survivors will use it to extend loops instead of using it to take a hit. People like to say "just bait DH!" Go fishing in grass and tell me if you catch any fish! The only other problem as a killer I have with DH is that it avoids trap.
Can't say much from a survivor POV simply because I don't run the perk!

Shadowborn simply because I get motion sickness without it!

Here's the problem with that. If the killer choose's not to entertain the OoO user, than that survivor gets free information to tell their swf. I avoid OoO user's because you ain't getting none with obvious bait, but it put's the killer at a significant disadvantage though. It's why I believe that OoO needs a cooldown since it gives too much information.

The only justifiable reason to DC is
Real Life Problem: 3 day's ago my step-daughter legit came into my room crying because she missed her sister and I had no choice but to DC and comfort her.
Game Breaking Bugs: Last week I had a match with Wraith that was so bugged out that I couldn't cloak, than it got to the point to were one of the survivor's that I hooked couldn't get rescued off the hook and even after the endgame collapse timer expired I was still trapped in the match with a bugged out hooked survivor. Yep see, thats also what this game is about. Everyone has different expectations to different aspects of the game.
I don't like the things that make it too easy for any side. Seeing a killer that doesnt play that well getting a 4K bc of an ebony is as frustrating as playing killer and everyone leaves with a key before all gens were done, bc you already killed a survivor (aka probably played well). Guess I'm mostly annoyed by this, bc I dont use either (moris for dailies only and occasionally green key with obsession aura addon if I'm playing duo).
"Survivor's wanna rush gens, be toxic, etc, because they are having a bad day" <- are killers toxic if they get fast downs and "hook rush"? I never really get why people say "gen rush". As a survivor its my main objective to do gens, as a killer its to defend gens and bring suffering to survivors (injure/hook/kill etc). I can see why some1 would complain about it in after chat, if survivors equipped all gen speed perks & items (resilience, prove thyself, leader, toolbox with BNP etc). But most of the time surv run just their build and get called gen rusher.
But at the end it's part of the game design, some maps are just to big for some killers to be actually able to defend gens.
Which Sally nerf are you talking about? The one with the recharge or these weird changes on PTB?
Her recharge nerf. When I switched to PC I stopped using range add-ons and I used her travel speed add-ons. I feel that the recharge add-ons make her less aggressive

If Wraith and Hag do, why doesn't Spirit? She kinda works in the same way. She "teleports"/goes invisible. Shining a flashlight on her fake self left behind when she phases should instantly remove the fake and reveal the real Spirit's location. No stun or anything.
A lot of people aren't aware of this. but Spirit is blindable while she's phasing and Just like any other killer it pulls her out of phasing it's just hard to pull of though.

So by your logic, they shouldnt have changed DS multiple times? Bc once smth got changed (mori nerf was 3 years ago) doesnt mean that its still busted? Dont get me wrong, they still need to do smth about the ds timer. But moris are untouched for a long time.
So if a survivor has a bad day with his games, can he get his insta gen back? I mean he had a really rough time and wants to enjoy the game. Why not 4 insta gens like they were before? It's unfun for the killer, but its not like your gonna run into insta gens every game. Or should keys stay like the way they are? Its unfun for killers but its not like your gonna run into a key every game.
Flawless logic.

Yellow moris are kinda pointless (just for the mori at the end, if you actually get it...), green are okay but ebonys are just busted imo.
Dunno about the 2nd hook stage (for ebony), but maybe hook every survivor once to actually use it. So for an ebony you need to hook all 4 survivors before being able to mori all of them. If he cant get all of them at least once until all gens are done, then he shouldnt have "won" the match in the first place. Still powerful, but it requires more effort.
I see nothing wrong with it simply because I like the stress of dealing with a mori. Just like how I like the stress of dealing with survivor's who have key's. I play both sides relaxed, until I'm presented with a challenge which is what I'm always looking forward to. I've managed to out live maybe a handful of mori's either because I avoided the killer majority of the match or I outplayed the killer. Survivor's wanna rush gens, be toxic, etc, because they are having a bad day, guess what I don't entertain them. I just say "Gg" and move on to the next match simply because every match isn't gonna be the same.
I can't control how someone else plays or their fun. What I can control is how much fun "I'M" having. I only take the game series when I hit red ranks because that's when the game has no chill!
Keep in mind that I am also very bias to my playstyle and I take a lot of things with a grain of salt in this game..., well except the Medkits and Sally's nerf which I'm still salty about

But the dev's have not touched some of the extremely overpowered killers. Why do Freddy and Spirit still exist in the state that they are? Hag is also sleeper overpowered, but nobody plays her so there are few complaints. Killers have a wealth of broken add-ons to call upon while survivors at this point basically have....keys? And keys are lategame. An ivory mori can end the game at 5 gens left.
Those killer's aren't overpowered. They're just strong because they play their cards right.

Though I am killer main, I refuse to kill Dwight simply because I get daddy vibes from him and he's the hottest survivor. Don't @ me

I agree with the guy who said he's only played Nurse post-nerf.
Obviously if people get to play a character with training wheels and then get them taken off, many people are going to see it as a lot less fun. And I also agree with the point of "people are always saying we shouldn't balance around the low skill players, so why should it be different with Nurse?"
Seriously, she's still the best killer in the game in good hands and she's one of the few killers that you can't really loop. If that isn't fun to you, maybe just try another killer?
But doesn't it mean something if her usage has gone down even less?

I don’t get it, you are upset that people know how to play efficiently together?
play some solo and tell me how much fun you had, SWF is the only consistent method to having good teammates, yet killer “mains” dont understand the logic in it
Killer main's understand the logic, but the reason why it pisses us off is because SWF pass too much info between each other which puts the killer at a significant disadvantage. Veteran killer's like me understand that we have to play like a ######### in order to stand a chance or to have fun

They've already nerfed mori's. Before, killer's didn't have to hook you, they had to down you and than they could mori you. Me personally the reason why I say don't touch mori's is because majority mori's i've ran into the killer is just having a bad day and they use mori's as stress relief. I mean granted yeah it's unfun for survivor's but it's not like your gonna run into a mori every match

Dead Hard - a perk Survivors use to prolong loops around a pallet or to reach a safe spot when they had to die without DH. Awful.
Decisive Strike - Survivors DS’ed my ass even if I don’t tunnel, I was just overperforming and downing them for their mistakes too quickly..
Borrowed Time - why this perk got buffed so much? And it used not as for camping Killers, but for being able to be cocky at hooks.
@Peanits , why do you ignore feedback about at least Decisive? Just why? Survivors are so nasty bcs of tons of second chances.
I have a problem with 2nd chance perks being stacked.
