check your setting and the key binds.
skillchecks (on keyboard) should be on space, while secondary actions should be on m2 or E

Honest question: if you KNOW the survivors you face don't cut it... why don't you switch down a few gears, take it easy and kinda show them the ropes...
also... if MMR would be on... your post would have been one massive self-burn
-
LBR:
the reason is that from around rank 15 or so up the game has become absolutely frustrating to play.
What's been said above about BPs is one factor. Another is just how there's little to nothing to do if you don't want to play hypercompetitive. If you come into the game new, you are thrown in with high levels that take joy in taking advantage of you. there's no way to learn, no anything.
If you want to 'breath' the best thing you can do is play a different game.
SoloQ is a mess, and playing killer just isn't rewarding.
And coming back to the above:
YMMV but i find games in which both sides can breath (aka games that might still be competitive, but not to such an unhealthy degree) and everyone gains something from it.
matches that end with either side just having 4 digit BPs are a pain and I don't know any decent person who actually enjoys that.
EDIT: and again YMMV but personally I do find matches in which both sides can fool around a bit more rewarding than any 'get your objective done as quickly as possible' ones. You know those matches, where in the endgame chat the other side applauds you for impressive/scary/funny work, and sometimes even steps forward to defend you against someone trying to put you down.
The games where, sure, you all did your best, but you didn't aim to win at all costs.
No amount of BP will actually ever beat a honest 'OMG I got so scared. GG WP' when you play as killer.
And when you just know this is gonna be a 'be a douche to win' match instead, why waste your time on it?
-
These are known, hotfix for them (or at least most) is scheduled for tuesday.
here's hoping Dx
-
Said it before:
they entire system's ought to be reworked from pretty much scratch, not in little changes here and there.
To balance add-ons, offerings, skills etc things ought to become a bit more complex and a bit more strategical, but so many people in the community seem as averse against that idea as they are upset about the current system.
On paper neither side has an advantage, in practice... How is Iri Map with the purple lense equal to a of killer iris? sure, Huntress for example has the iri heads, but these still require her to find and hit survivors, while a iri map survivor can traverse the map, telling their teammates where stuff is.
On the other side, how are iris that let you mori survivors equal to e.g. BNP?
As said, it's a mess and really needs to be reworked from the ground up.
-
Post that let you know the OP isn't regularly playing both sides...
-
Depends:
how do you like to play?
Chains of Hate comes with a pretty unique, fun, but hard to learn killer. Killer perks are great if you focus on messing with gens and can be great in combo with similar perks. Survivor has some good distraction perks.
Silent Hill has a similar unique but hard to learn killer. Haven't played this one myself yet, so I can't really judge what playstyle the perks fit.
Descend's killer might be even harder to master, but his perks are great if you are working a lot with Hex and generally keep survivors busy. The survivor is focused on assisting other players.

Im kinda tired arguing with you. Those fact that you can't see the difference in animations between two killers and you prefer a broken looking animation over a polished walk cycle that matches the speed of a killer say everything.
the sheer fact that you ignore the character's lore and s--- is what says everything.
a lot of people have noted the 'smooth walk' doesn't fit with caleb. This entire thread is about that

By the way, it just happened again, an afk wraith waited for the gens to be done then opened the exit gate and ran and hid.
Two of these players tonight...
I wonder if they are trying to depip to get to low ranks or if theyre farming iridescent shards.
there is a slim chance they try to help people with the tome quest to blind or lightburn the killer 5 times.

If you look closely on his current animation, you can see that hes got a little limp in there. Im pretty sure he learned to keep balance and walk like a normal.
'walk like a normal' are you sure you wanna roll with that phrasing, mate?
And there is no limp in that animation.

You can't even see the difference between trapper animation and deathslinger. Limp animation was slow and bad looking, probably not finished. Im telling you this like an animator.
Then stop saying 'it's good they removed it' and add a 'hope they'll bring in an overhauled one soon'. I'm telling you this as a writer that there's a disconnect between lore and animation if he has no limp
edit: wait. I read this as you saying 'as an animator'.... so, you're not even speaking from experience... COME ON.
Let Caleb limp. It's his LORE.

That ######### looked so goofy in endgame screen. Im happy they reverted to his normal walk
the limping WAS his normal walk. Do you think the leg brace is a fashion statement?
-
the 4.1.0 (i think) patch removed his limp for some unknown reason. Like, he had a distinct hobble in at least the end screen, which was suddenly replaced by... i think it's trapper's walk-cycle?
I want his limping back

This is by far one the best theories I've read so far out there, and I was doing my own research for these perks. And a sad possibility from your theory of the first generation of survivors is that they are most likely to have gone to the Void. My only evidence of this is a quote from The Observer in Tome 2
"Several Survivors went mad trying to escape the trial. They had with them memories of previous incarnations so that one Survivor began dashing his head against a wall convinced he was reliving a nightmare he had just escaped. The other Survivors drowned him in mud to shut him up. It seems to me Survivors are torches growing dimmer and dimmer with every trial. Some stop to feel altogether and are doomed to The Void. Others go raving mad and need to be silenced by others."
Although it falls apart when there are 8 survivors instead of 7 as stated here, but #########, thinking about this is crazy when a puzzle piece is missing its chip and ruins the whole picture.
The question then is:
has the entity meanwhile allowed survivors and killers to retain memories of previous trials? I know the tome and older statements say (mostly) know, but I'd think it'd make more sense with the whole 'getting their hopes up' idea to have survivors retain (at least parts of) knowledge about the killers the face and the maps they go onto.
So, does the entity allow survivors their memories... or is it maybe even by accident or someone else's doing?

I wish I could play against someone under rank 8. Cannot think of the last game that happened.
And this isn't me being good - I suck at this. This is me grimly slogging away because I spent a few bucks on this and considering just throwing the towel in.
only thing I can advice is to keep trying. Sometimes trying to signal the survivors as killer that you want to mess around a bit helps (if they join in). gives one time to practice a little. (i mean, I once had some groups that let me use them for target practice as Deathslinger...)

Thing is - this wasn't a few mates chumming up to test some new survivors. This was clearly a very coordinated squad - to the degree they'd perfectly time bodyblocking to stall out hangs.
yeah, the current matchmaking doesn't care, unfortunately.
It just checks what ranks people are and searches within that range.
for example: if person A is rank 10 and in a group with a rank 4, the game will search for others between rank 1-16.
and by observation it can even mean that if A and B load into a lobby with a level 14, person D and E might end up rank 20
-
I'm thinking right now. Is there a chance Sally and Evan's stories are linked? Could Sally's husband have been working in the MacMillan mine or is there evidence against it?
-
i think those three are the only 'significant' ones. everyone else is just a 'reoccuring name' in a character's lore, unless I am forgetting someone.
-
That's unfortunately 'normal'. as 'skill based matchmaking' is off atm, we're back to the '6 ranks apart is fair'... (which usually ends up as 'each player can be a base for the calculation, not just the killer'...)

To say whether or not i do or dont doesnt change the fact at hand. Thats like saying the coaches cant criticize players because they dont actively go get tackled. But to answer your question, i code in engineering classes occasionally.
that's the worst comparison you could have made:
A coach needs to know their stuff and a good one has actively played.
And with coding:
While I am amongst those saying the devs need to run the ptb for longer, even that wouldn't help, because code is a pain in the rear: You update existing code with something that was thoroughly tested and all of a sudden it won't work anymore and you just. don't. know. why.
-
@ShErMaDeRmA said:
Can you go one update without breaking something? Just one? You managed to break the hooks, the most important thing in a killer game. Who knows, maybe if you fixed that spaghetti code stuff like this wouldn't be more common than not.
do you code yourself? this is a genuine question.
-
it's a cycle:
Some big names started running those perks to secure wins to feel good about themselves -> lotsa people started to believe the game MUST be played like this and run the same perks -> it makes the game frustrating for the other side -> other side starts running certain perks (maybe/prolly after a big name started it) -> rinse and repeat.
-
Depends:
If I opened the doors it means I accept defeat... Which also means you WILL get a harpoon up yer rear if you don't bugger off.
-
yeah, especially since (looking at some other people's videos) he does have the time to look around while the auras are up and move there...
from atop my head I can not name any other addon that does THAT. there are addons like caleb's branding iron that do reveal auras, but only while a surv is speared (and it's iri), and other abilities that reveal an aura only have it pop up for a second.
-
Also:
I'm not entirely certain, but I think the killer shack on the map is meant to be caleb's workshop? so... quite a distance if he was meant to fill a prison in nebraska if glenvale's in arizona

It pisses me off so much that you can use Jane's or a hoodless version of Nea's set head with other items. It makes no sense and is just... so boring... I really hope they change how sets work and make them conditional or 2-pieces when possible.
Plus, almost every one of Cheryl's cosmetics being part of a set is incredibly irritating. It really just feels like they're just making some outfits "sets" for no good reason
well, cheryl is not only a licensed character, but a KONAMI character. they have a really nasty reputation when it comes to copyright licenses, so, by all means, adding in SH was prolly a big mistake

I am pretty sure that the Devs earn less money with Set Cosmetics, since with regular Cosmetics, some people buy parts of it, which is not possible with Sets.
E.g. you only like the Head of the most recent Nea-Cosmetic, you would have gotten the Head for 400 Cells and nothing more. Since it is a Set, but you dont like the other parts, you dont buy it aka 0 Cells.
this.
Like, i dunno how many cells i spent on parts of Claudette's and Caleb's outfit, but usually only the chest and legs, respectively torso. Especially with Caleb, I LOVE the black coat, but I HATE the head from the outfit. I would have never bought it had it been linked.
Same now with the aforementioned dirndl for kate: I'd have love the head and def would have bought it. but not the whole set.

My opinion has been stated, multiple times.
These things were left ambiguous for this very reason. So we could determine and identify with this ######### for ourselves. Your Felix is gay. My Felix is PewDiePie (he's from Sweden as well!). But slapping on a definition based on *how they look* is disgusting.
and from what I gather your opinion is that only no clear representation is good representation because 'it leaves things open for everyone'.... dude, no.
The thing is simple:
leaving things ambiguous is not representation. Or are you trying to say you won't be able to like a character anymore if they're canonically something or another?
-
interesting fact, lots of new players seem unfamiliar with 'offerings of peace' too, aka, put your item down in front of the killer at the gate and leave.
-
two cents on this:
outfits that don't have a reason to be locked (even if its just in parts) should not be locked.
like the minotaur skin for oni? yeah, that's ought to be locked cause it's one whole design.
Kate's Dirndl however? There is negative reason for it to be locked. The dirndl itself might be okay to be locked, but the head? all that's different to her other heads is the flowercrown. there's zero reason to not have the head be separate.
-
let me guess, sloppy, you think Deathslinger's straight...

OP wasn't, at least for the most part, getting hate for their opinions. They were getting hate for merely bringing up the topic. A topic the devs themselves have said they'd be addressing in the near future. OP hasn't had issue with people having dissimilar opinions and has remained polite and tolerant throughout. The issue is that OP has been getting aggro on a topic that the devs themselves have raised. Very few people have actually voiced any opinion on the topic and seem to be attacking OP for merely raising the issue the devs originally brought up...
But thats just my opinion...
yeah, I mean, just look how many people in this thread are seriously saying 'they are fictional, they can be anything you want it doesn't matter' completely ignoring the fact that to many, many many people NOT cishet it DOES matter.
it's the same with other bits of rep. like, there's a reason some people admire autistic-coded characters like claudette or caleb...
And... people who continuously can see themselves represented in media don't get it. (same type of people who often think outdated, hurtful stereotypes are good rep... kind of people who will tell you you mustn't see caleb as autistic cause he's a bad guy)

completely agree with these !! Nice to see someone’s else think that Felix could possibly be bi btw.. whenever it said he frequently partied, drank etc. to cope with his fathers disappearance that’s when I was like.. yuup he’s probably bi lmao..
<3
i think one 'issue' with things is that still a lot of people equal sexuality with 'wanting sex' and don't see romantic orientation as a separate thing.
Like, I can see felix as bi (both sexual and romantic) with definite leaning toward (cis)women when it comes to the sexual aspect.
(also I'm honestly a little amused whenever people say Caleb would be a straight top...)
-
Personal take:
dwight - bi, maybe pan, and still trying to sort things out for himself
meg - bi
claudette - ace, but potentially hetero- or biromantic.
jake - possibly pan, not very interested in the physical aspects
nea - lesbian
Ace - straight-ish, needs to sort himself out though
Feng - ace-ish
David - Bi
Kate - questioning, maybe bi
Adam - Straight
Jeff - Bi/Pan
Jane - Pan
Yui - Lesbian
Zarina - bi-ish
Felix - potentially bi, def bi-romantic
---
Trapper - bi-ish, never had the chance to genuinely question things
Wraith - bi, leaning toward other genders
Nurse - straight
Hag - bi, but never got around really sorting herself out
doctor - bi-ish, terrible flirt
clown - straight and a straight nope
spirit - still questioning
legion - bi, bi, ace-ish, ace-ish
plague - questioning
oni - pan, terrible flirt, too
deathslinger - pan, switch
blight - bi, but not very interested
leaving out Billy and Huntress, as they both (seem to) have a very child-like understanding of things, so.... not all comfortable with adding them...

-we cant test most of the stuff cuz we have to unlock it and even if you safe 1 million bp you most likely wont be able to test new killer with his T3 Perks. How should we judge perks by playing rank 1 versions ...
this is about how to improve things....
the whole 'testing till it's done' means the ptb version is updated till it's good to go live.
testing on the ptb means everything's unlocked, plus the aforementioned items to let you test better.
Please, my dude, it's not that hard to grasp.

Yeah, agree with that. I know some other games when they do a sort of beta test of upcoming updates, they do reward players with unique rewards for finding/testing bugs and features. If DbD did that, they'd probably have more people trying to break the game because of the possibility they'll get a unique reward that wouldn't be obtainable otherwise.
yep. and lbr how many streamers and their viewers would get and extra kick out of trying to break the game?
-
@Mikeasaurus said:
One issue I've noticed is, that once everyones had their fun with new survivors/killers, the PTB dies. It lasts maybe 2 days and they're gone. They do need to add some kind of incentive to keep people playing it. Another thing, they should try get it into console. I'm PS4 myself, so I don't get access to the PTB, but if they made it console-accessible, there would be a ton more players to test the issues, and it would make it easier to identify issues since PC and Console may have seperate issues.
Rewards. They should be able to see who logs into the ptb how often and how many matches are played and how much feedback a person provides.
like, if you play a certain time or provide a certain amount of helpful feedback (as in how helpful it is, not the sheer wordcount), you might get a unique cosmetic for a character of your choice, maybe ranging from charms over outfit pieces to a full set. maybe even awarding top testers with auric cells
and the aforementioned items that would enable players to see stuff they can't see on the live servers. our monkey brains are weird like that. give survivors a tool to e.g. see totems without a perk and they're more likely to check if they can cleanse it.
another thing to do would be to enable a chat between all players during a match. we're here to test, after all.
-
@SloppyKnockout said:
I'd like to add:
5) Actually fix issues reported in the PTB before it goes live. They do this sometimes, but other times game breaking bugs make it into live...invalidating the PTB's entire "alleged" purpose.

Sounds like you are fairly new at the game... Killers don't waste perk slot for Franklin's to give back items to survivors. That's not the purpose of the perk.
seems like you're the reason survivors run DS and unbreakable and bring keys in the first place.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1611900#Comment_1611900
Mmmm... I'm trying to make any sense of it... but failing...
If you as a killer brought Franklin's to make sure that key is destroyed, why would you give back key? No one had any items, meaning the killer wasted entire perk slot just for that single key.
because that way I know where the key IS
another playing having the key means they picked it up, something I would otherwise not have been aware of.
This way I have more control over things. I can down the keyholder again and make sure the key goes pooof, or I can see about hooking them last and keeping them away from the hatch should I fail to sacrifice people before it spawns
