It is a time balance, not a skill balance. Honestly, if you dont want skill checks to hook, dont ask for more decisions on gens

Except it's not more decisions it's the same decisions except there's more weight carried with them. Heal or don't if your good at hitting greats it's actually a benefit for you. If you want to get better it's a way to practice. You're still making the same decision though.

I don't think people's problems would/should boil down to the debuffs, I personally believe that, rationally, BHVR could get away with a change like this, based on the idea that no person alive could ever be injured like that and have the focus or affinity to work on gens or other "complicated" stuff, plus the fact that gen rushing is a bit of a problem for a lot of people, but I personally don't believe that sloppy or thana need buffs even if its slightly in this scenerio (I'll finish that thought later), I also don't think that plague needs a buff, but a rework, she is the killer nobody needed or asked for, a lot of people hate playing as her because of her weird playstyle and the fact that her puke has a really weird hitbox and a lot of people hate playing against her because most people that use her just go for the braindead aproach with her of just puking at you until youre injured, even if your litterally at basic attack distance. I think she could benefit a lot from a rework so that she doesn't feel so braindead and has a more suitable playstyle.

Now about sloppy and thana, sloppy has been stronger than ever since that ridiculous overbuff they did to it, and thana is really well balanced in it's state, buffing them even if it's indirectly would be really bad for the balance of the game especially when people have been using them both together a lot lately (wich is a preetty scumy thing to do since they both make healing unbareably slow when together)

The gas can thing though wouldnt be bad as long as there are more gas cans than survivors so that it doesn't hurt someones chances of getting one in case a killer decides to closely guard 1 or more of them, I also don't think the killer should be able to see the auras of gas cans (if they should have) so that at least its an even playing field in that regard

I actually like running plague with a guy and run type style hit them with vile Purge get your first hit then look for the next survivor this way if they heal that's time not doing gens and it's time letting the vile purge build up either forcing a cleanse or putting them right back in 1 hit down status. But I understand most people don't play her that way.

As for it being an indirect buff to than and sloppy, if you're good at hitting skills checks you can opt to instead attempt to power rush the gen. The other 2 perks are not any more impactful I'm regards to the healing aspect so it comes down to see you skilled enough or do you want to hide and heal first.

Problem with the gas can idea is it gives a big, unnecessary buff to top tier killers too while also being a buff to camping and tunneling. If we don’t want to add to killer too and are just looking for a way to stall the early game a bit.... why not just start the game with repair debuff? However, and this is the key, once the killer puts a survivor in the dying state, it goes away (for ALL survivors) and repair is back to normal. The killer got their early game handicap and now it’s game on as usual. That way if a killer downs someone in 30 seconds, the other 3 aren’t stuck running around looking for gas or whatever. If the killer just camps that survivor, or proxy/tunnels, it would be game over as not enough would get done before the first death. Can’t have that. Im sure there’s probably a gaping hole to this idea, as i just thought of it 5 minutes ago....but whatever.

I would much rather the killer EARN their debuff, rather than have it given to them. Additionally I'd rather have survivors have to make more impactful decisions and added elements of skill vs mindlessly running to god loops and just running to powerful pallets that force the killer to just break because it's not viable to mind game

  • @FriendlyGuy said:

A debuff for being injured would be a straightout buff to anti-heal and that's strong anyway. Dunno about that.

It's a choice and risk vs reward scenario. You can not heal and potentially gain insane Regen progress if you are good at hitting skill checks.

I dont think this is even necessary, just make gens 100 charges and things will be fine.

No survivors want that and quite frankly even me being a killer main don't want that just holding repair in a single identifiable spot isn't interesting I want survivors to have to make more decisions and more interesting plays, have an actual element of skill involved even if only slightly

That wont ever happen. the steam forums had a more of outcry than these forums about SWF and nothing happen. I remember everyday, I would log onto the steam forum and see 10+ posts about SWF and nothing happened at all.

Yeah and everyone said trump would never get elected, yet here we are lol. You can only piss on players so long before they get fed up. If the gameplay is NOT FUN players will quit. People expressing frustrations about issues need to be fixed. If they don't see it getting fixed the will leave, that's how evolve died that and terrible monetization lol

Saying it'll never happen highly optimistic and it's optimism that is really misplaced. Because it spits im the face of why many people play a game in the first place

  • Not anymore, it creates entitled survivors that's what I've noticed, and when's the last time you had any survivors let you kill them when you had a bad game.

  • @MrChillsX said:

I do, We've discussed this for years. There's nothing new to bring up and I feel like this post is one huge bait.

If it keeps getting brought up it's probably for a good reason. If killers get disenfranchised, ques go up for survivors, if survivors take to long to get in ques they'll want to play less so it becomes a cascading effect.

  • @DepressedClownMain said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/114222/swf-is-balanced-and-requires-no-changes

So I was planning to completely ignore this post but how does SWF destroy Rancor? Player 1 tells he is exposed and moriable to Player 2 and boom the perk automatically disables

It's not a complete negation but it let's survivors know that whoever has the obsession will be one hit down so they know who specifically to body block of necessary it allows them to coordinate a plan before it even gets to end game.

It wasn't irrelevant. It was a direct reply to someone who mentioned the Nurse.

Yeah but it didn't address the specific thing about the nerf that was addressed. Their more concerned about fixing a killer who you're either garbage tier or amazing tier with vs fixing large overarching balance issues.

If the game was brought to a point where killers were in a good place I would have been fine with it but they arent bring the other killers up before nerfing a skilled based killer

  • @The_Second_Coming said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/933449#Comment_933449

Nurse is still the best killer in the game. Those who aren't good with her anymore were too reliant on elements of her that were broken.

Irrelevant to the discussion I actually agree with that she is still the strongest. But this isn't about how strong a specific killer is. It's about the state of balance OVERALL I'm far less concerned about a killer that requires skill to play being insanely strong but if you're not very good you're literal bully fodder.

Vs a mechanic that literally negates a HUGE chunk of options for perks and strategy in the killer spectrum. And killer viability as well I should add

  • @MrChillsX said:

What do you mean? Pretty sure the devs themselves have mentioned that the buff base survivor efficiency potential/information ("solos") approach also comes with buffs to killers that need it to keep up. And people that discuss it certainly seem to assume that would be part of it the vast majority of the time.

There's not really many other options. Mechanical nerfs applied to SWF parties is something I'm fairly certain will never happen, and the idea of removing it or interfering with VOIP apps is straight up absurd. The only other option with a non-zero probability of ever happening would be some sort of seperate queue or SWF indicators/bp multipliers for killers.

I'm in partial agreement with you, I'm regards to messing with the mechanical aspects of swf.

They shouldn't changes those that is a higher potential to do more harm than good. People like to play with the friend and have coms so I don't want that changed. But killers need the tools to be able to handle it.

In regards to the devs statement again their actions speak louder than their words. And frankly their words to speak very loud to begin with. I see very SPECIFIC things being address in regards to fixing solo play for survivors, regarding perks. Not so much when it comes to fixing killers and again the constant nerfinging indirect or direct of killers with either little borinding I'm the line to ineffective or no counter balance at all shows a distinct lack of fixing killers issues.

  • @FriendlyGuy said:

The devs don't care about high rank killer balance. High rank killers care about high rank killer balance. I think there will be never some sort of agreement.

I'd argue that's a bad move on the devs part. Any killer who puts enough time into the game will see the big discrepency, between the survivor to killer skill ratio in this game and it is very frustrating to see how easy playing survivor is especially when you go against the toxic players just adds on to it.

  • @FriendlyGuy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/933420#Comment_933420

But what about the 8/10 survivors that can't hit greats?

I'm sorry to say it because it's so cliche but that would be a definite case of git good OR you can deal with the killers healing perks and heal. It's a trade off

You're not OBLIGATED to not heal, but if you do you're gotta deal with the penalties that come with ignoring an INJURY. A good analogy is in shooter sometimes your health is low and your friend needs help you can run to go help them there's a high chance you might die to but you'll put the odds in your favor if it's a 2 on 1 or you can take the safer option and go get health.

It's adds a layer of decision making to the game which is a skill.

  • @FriendlyGuy said:

A debuff for being injured would be a straightout buff to anti-heal and that's strong anyway. Dunno about that.

Yeah but if your skill check game is GOOD it'll help negate the anti heal, that's the balance if you add it, SLIGHTLY indirect increase but as of right now healing is hardly a concern for good survivors in the games current state anyway so if argue that it's needed.

imagine not being able to interpretate what is sarcasm. interpretate it your way i dont care. but your topic (as everyone sayed) is beyond no sense.

How about your prove it rather than just make a declaritive statement that has NOTHING to back it up. What benefits does the killer get that negates needing specific perks or negates a survivor's perks? I'll wait lol.

  • @yoi said:

imagine saying no sense. SWF means free perks and actually the strongest perks u can imagine, kindred? for free, bond? for free, empathy? for free nerfed object of obsession? but without risks almost for free, but yeah, the killer also has a lot of information all the time about what the survivors are doing and where they are IS COMPLETELY BALANCED for sure, i wish the killer could have such info all the time about survivors aswell that would make the game more balanced for sure.

I assume the last statement about the killer was sarcasm, just trying to make sure I'm accurately interpreting your reaponse

Disregard just saw your update, I don't think just giving killers information about survivors is the right answer, but killera need love, a lot of it. The game has come a long way from where it was but it's still painfully obvious how much easier it is to play survivors especially with SWF.

Still doesn't change the fact that a skin or item doesn't define a player.

You're right it doesnt, but it's not the skin I'm talking about I mean I guess it is kind of but it's the action.

You ACTIVELY coordinated to use the same exact character and outfit which is a STRONG INDICATOR of the behavior to expect from the team your about face. It's not a guarantee but it's a high probability.

  • @Keene_Kills said:

    Imagine imagination imagining imaginatively.

Ohh deep 😀but seriously I hate the " the devs said this" statement because I can say "Ill never lie to you again" but if I keep doing it what weight does that statement have not much.

  • @FogLurker said:

Sounds like a fun idea, something I pretty much had in mind. Since a lot of people complain about gen speed, this seems like an idea on how to touch on that with something that could make sense. If someone is injured, their actions are impaired due to pain and bleeding out. Maybe repair speed just slows down while you're injured to an extent.

And that's exactly my thought process in regards to your initial statement, but the vast majority of survivors are against DIRECT gen slow down and I don't blame them. It's not fun to do gens and there's not really any skill involved. With this method direct gen slow down perks aren't significantly augmented and only laterally augmented in the fact that now that get WAY more skill checks that are MUCH harder to hit.

So now you can get better at HITTING those great skill checks (skill based) or you can opt to heal which again automatically makes any thing that slows the healing mechanic upgraded indirectly cause now survivors IN THEORY will heal more often rather than just running straight to a gen and hoping a survivor heals them or just ignoring things plagues ability. Imo this is the best compromise for both parties

  • @The_Second_Coming said:

Imagine actually believing that despite the devs literally saying otherwise on multiple occasions.

Actions speak louder than words, and their actions are LOUD they adjusted the deep wounds mechanic while giving legion players booty, a piddly little adjustment that barely effects him at all. They needed Oni 3 times already and once was before he even left the ptb lol. While ignoring legitimate concerns about his power no I'm not just talking about his "flick" on console either,

Adding additional debuffs to strong killers acting like the current ones didn't matter or nurse now having to wait even longer to get her fully ability back after blinking, because it's not like she ALREADY had a cool down they literally added a cool down on top of a cool down lmao.

Imagine just believing what's said and not following the evidence

  • @PistolTimb said:

That's an interesting idea, but I bet you people would be up in arms if there were debuffs for being injured. Which is arguably fair since you are 1-shot at that point.

I think what the game needs is a single, straightforward time waster in the early game. Something along the lines of finding gas cans around the map, which are used to fuel up gens. Before this point, no gens can be worked on. But once a gen is fueled up, it will stay that way permanently and can be worked on by anyone.

That's not a debuff, that's called damage. You wouldn't called getting shot in COD( I know terrible game) a debuff do why would you call getting hit a debuff?

Side note, I didn't mention. Anything about bringing in any new objectives because quite frankly based off the direction the game has gone that ship sailed a long time ago and bhvr imo very clearly has no intention of EVER doing this at least in my eyes

  • @deadbyhitbox said:

"And 4 claudettes lol if you're telling me your intentions for those games was NOT to be as toxic as possible I'm gonna call you a liar."

You're literally saying that if you're a squad of Claudettes you're lying to say your intentions weren't to be toxic. You're saying that if you're a specific character, your intentions are to be toxic. You're trying correlate something that has nothing to do with the other.

There's this stupid stigma around players because of 2017 DBD, and for some reason, people still hold on to old beliefs that hold nearly no actual value in today's game. Being a specific player in the game or bringing a certain item is not an indicator of anything that has to do with toxicity.

Actually I I would bet MONEY that if we polled every killer main and and every survivor main that actually plays killer reasonably often that the MAJOROTY would say if the WHOLE lobby was the same character they'd played as toxic as they could. I say this cause I have literally NEVER seen a whole lobby of ANY 1 character not try and be as toxic as possible. And I've played A LOT of those lonbies

  • @Auron471 said:

I’m just exaggerating to show how bad it would be if they prevented killers from lobby dodging by hiding info.

I’m just trying to say that it would suck if they hid useful information from the killer, so why are they hiding useful info from survivors? I don’t actually play like that.

It's more detrimental to the killer than survivors that's your reason

  • @deadbyhitbox said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/933253#Comment_933253

Ah yes, having a specific outfit, or bringing in items like toolboxes is toxic. That mentality is so dumb. Nothing in this game is toxic but the player. Items and skins are not toxic. Literally survivors can do nothing in this game without it being regarded as toxic.

By your thinking, a killer who brings in very strong perks and addons is toxic too, right?

It's not the act of bringing in an item or outfit that's toxic lol fail. It's indicators of the fact your going to do toxic behavior. But nice strawman 👍

  • @PigNRun said:

There are no perks that prevent Survivors from seeing auras of killer power related props. This goes for Jigsaw Boxes, Fountains and Alarm Clocks. Blindness never blocks these auras. The only one whose aura can be hidden is Jigsaw Box through the Rules Set add-on.

As for maps, it really depends from case to case. The Game is extremely short lengthwise because its two stories. Therefore, the total size of the map is bigger than what it seems. As long as they dont make another Mother's Dwelling, Temple of Purgation or old Swamp, I find map sizes to be fine. Now, tiles and generator distribution, thats a whole different story.

Eh game may be multiered but with a headset that's still makes it way less of an issue cause survivors MUST heal or bring iron will in order prevent the killer from getting a beat on where you are .

I agree tile generations still leave much ti be desired but if maps were smaller then the tile generation becomes much more manageable. The game has strong tiles the ALMOST always appear but because the map isn't so big it's not as detrimental.

Oh also I didn't think there were any but I wanted to be sure.

  • @deadbyhitbox said:

Why does everyone thinks wanting the game to be a bit better = toxicity

It's not you wanting the game to be better that is toxic but you literally said bring 4 keys and 4 tool boxes I legit surprised you didn't say with brand new parts. And 4 claudettes lol if you're telling me your intentions for those games was NOT to be as toxic as possible I'm gonna call you a liar. Why should killers be forced to deal with your toxic playstyles when it's obvious a mile away?

Solution add your items/ switch characters right before the end problem solved your INTENTIONS have been hidden

I finally had one a few weeks back. My rank 8 plague matched with 4 red ranks and boy did they know it. Alongside the sound bug messing up an easy to win chase: I had the claudette run around the left side of an L well so I went along the right figuring she'd continue straight or abandon. I don't hear her injured/coughing so I figure she abandoned and go around. Go around to see her running straight the entire time.

End game: I have corrupt purge and run along one of the many middle jungle gyms of resting place figuring that was the spot I had a pallet dropped, turns out it was the exact same jungle gym shape in a row with the pallet resting so lost corrupt. The guy felt bad and let me kill him.

Yeah obviously I can't speak for every1 but I feel like this is the norm. Killers are much more likely to be generous during a bad game than survivors of love to see stats on this cause I would be genuinely surprised if I was wrong caused I've played A LOT of both killer and survivor lol

  • Translation: "I love being toxic" lol

But seriously until bhvr can bring killers to a place were swf isnt god mode against them, get rid of god loops, and make it so that only the strongest killers even a fair match against survivors this shouldn't not be changed for killers.

  • @Tr0g said:

Sometimes people think they're being tunneled and camped when in reality it's the best decision for the killer to hit you, and if he knows there are survivors near the hook he is obviously not leaving, that would be dumb af.

Survivors are so much more toxic. On PS4 there's no chat system so they actually go out of their way to look me up and message me on the Playstation Network with a bunch of insults after I kill them. Luckily swearing is not allowed so I report them all and they all get warning points, but man survivors are toxic.

Never been messaged by a killer after a game.

I have once but I agree the survivor base, from my experience is SIGNIFICANTLY more toxic, when's the last time you had a survivor intentionally die after a killer had a bad game, not many for me I can on one hand how many times it's happened. But can't say the same in reverse. I've had a good number of killers let me go just because of DC's / farming team mates.

The OP exemplifies this and so do many of the other posts in this forum. I don't think I've read a single topic talking about survivors giving deaths to killers. Not saying I want them to. Just pointing out the mentality difference between the 2

  • @cornbreadeater said:

Okay is it just me or are survivor main killers the best? Even if they like survivor more and but they play killer more often they always seem to be way less toxic. Like they’ll still tunnel and camp if a survivor is asking for it but otherwise they tend to play in a way that’s fun for everyone, plus they actually understand what it’s like when like half of the team DC’s with like 4 gens left and they end up just playing and chasing the survivors, helping everyone get points (without farming, mind you) and maybe let them go too. They’re also waaaay nicer about endgame chat and might even give the other survivors tips or something (more if the survivors are actually new). Idk, I at least play like this when I play killer (usually purple rank for killer, red rank for survivor) and I’ve seen a few others like this. It’s just way more fun with everyone being nontoxic OR both teams being really toxic, so it’s just generally a blast to play.

Of course they arem they don't main killer so they don't go up against half the ridiculous the game throws at killers.

As a killer main who plays survivors I won't sugar coat it, it's made me more toxic cause I've seen how absurdly easy it is as survivor I can literally rank up 3x as fast as survivor than I can as killer, and I don't think it's cause I'm 3x better at survivor, the overall skill required to play survivor at high rank is just abysmally low.

I can get to red ranks on both but survivor is just a joke to me honestly. This is my opinion and killer main and it's obviously biased but I don't think it's wrong either just from my experience.

Sidenote, nonik not getting baby killers constantly.

  • For hag I run deer stalker, knockout, thanata and the fourth Im still playing with between gen slow down and healing slowdown/tracker perks.

But when running hag I find I'm downing multiple survivors constantly having knockout allows me to apply better damage across the team without having it be completely negates by solos (swf .. well we are still in the crap bin with them swf just too powerful atm) but against solos I have found the first 3 perks to be extremely strong even with zero slow down. I'm thinking sloppy will be my fourth perk for my main build as the multiple pressure will make that snow ball very well .

I don't know, I don't think that perk is that good, but it does very much depend on the killer you are playing.

I wouldn't mind if it only deactivated once one generator was repaired, but I just feel like having Ruin up while you only need to patrol four gens from the get go would be a bit extreme.

Eh good survivors aren't going to care it's only a slight hindrance the strategy would be the same power through it

I think people shouldn’t put such heavy stock into what streamers say and form their own opinions and thoughts first. Like seriously, Otz or Tru3 says something and then mysteriously everyone else starts repeating it. Or like in Otz’s case, he just smiles and laughs and people go “uwu marry me Otzichan uwu!”

These are just regular people playing in front of a screen, they don’t have some magical authority because they play to an audience and they might be good at the game.

Not sure what that has to do with the points being made. I already thought killers were extremely weak in this game long before I saw true and quite frankly I'm not a fan of true because he constantly complains about it. When I watch him I'm just like YES KILLERS SUCK WE ALL KNOW . My favorite dbd streamer is monto and from what I can tell he doesn't get involved in any of the killer viability non sense he's. Just fun to watch lol

But true made very valid points 150 and 140 movement speed is nothing to sniff at. And that's not even counting if he ran a meme/pwyf build he could make him even faster the pressure with that kind of speed would be crazy

The only way I see a spider killer working is if they cross it with a human, like a Drider or Chitine from D&D.

Not saying I don't want a spider killer, because it would be really cool. But non-humanoid Killers work with Last Year because their Killers don't have to carry people on their shoulders constantly. Plus, people would go after BHVR claiming they copied Elastic Games, and they don't need that publicity.

Closest thing to a spider killer would be like the creatures from dark souls 2

If you're camping EGC doesn't affect you at all lmfao? What is your point?

Actually it does because if you can't open the door on you're own then there's no crunch on the survivors to make the save other than the bleeding out and youre now back to the same game pre EGC

Of course, we'll keep fixing bugs, toning back things that are too powerful and buffing things that are too weak. The Doctor is going to get some much needed love pretty soon.

I have not seen a thread on here asking for a buff to doc..

Not a necessary change needed at all. If you want the EGC to start just open the gate yourself.

What a silly statement usually if it gets to that point the killer is camping whatever survivor they have hooked if any

  • I'm done with Oni after this on console cause he is just not fun to play anymore pisses me off cause I payed for him because he looked fun on the ptb. Guess behavior just likes to screw their customers

I'm done supporting this game with anymore of my money

  • How many more nerfs sheesh y'all are literally gonna gut him into Oblivion at this rate. He doesn't feel fun to play on console and you're making him worse it makes me sad cause asthetically he is my favorite killer.

I don't agree. Considering that cheating is bannable, voicecomm is not cheating according to gamerules:

"Using 3rd party software or other tools to gain any kind of unfair advantage that wasn’t intended by the game, except if they have been whitelisted by us. We are not banning for the use of communication apps."

That's a calculated cost, A LOT of people use voice comms if they were banning for that the base would be absurdly small. It's obvious they didn't build this game with the intention of voice coms being allowed otherwise it would be in the game itself

But they know that banning for voice come is also not a smart move. So to me that's just a way to save face knowing their game is not designed for voice coms

See my post above. Yeah I think you don’t have an argument that people will ignore DC’ing to lose their account. Killer’s have stayed through rougher times and I doubt something that’d benefit them long run would throw them off to all leaving. I don’t think we should be stuck in a stone-age mentality.

Guess we'll have to agree to disagree, wait times as survivor sucks enough as it is I'll just leave it at that.
