I’m not fairly certain on how to clear cache’s on PS5 unfortunately. I’ll google and see if I can find an answer.
If it's similar to Xbox, unplug the console from the mains and remove all cables from it. Hopefully that will work with you.
-
Here's some ideas which, whilst not maybe great, are very focused on particular playstyles; avoiding meta builds where possible:
Survivor:
A build to hurry up healing actions, so that people can get stuck back into the game, as well as to help others get you back in.
Resurgence; We'll Make It; Desperate Measures; Leader
A build that aims to protect against the killer damaging gens and wasting their time, as well as monitoring the overall situation and distracting them.
Repressed Alliance; Rookie Spirit; Boon: Shadow Step; Diversion
A build that aims to keep supplies plentiful, as well as to get the best possible chance of covering other tasks.
Built To Last; Technician; Appraisal; Botany Knowledge
Killer:
A build which uses stealth and decisive action to take out unsuspecting survivors and keep them on edge.
Trail Of Torment; Dragon's Grip; Deathbound; Make Your Choice
A build that punishes the injured and causes panic and confusion. Mainly aimed at those who prefer to do gens over all else.
Hysteria; Blood Echo; Bloodhound; Mindbreaker
A build which looks at restricting survivor options as tightly as possible, forcing them to take longer escaping, and easier to catch.
Hex: Crowd Control; Cruel Limits; Deadlock; No Way Out
-
No infinite loading screens here, and I'm an Xbox One player.
It only happened once, but since I exited, closed, deleted the cache and reopened the app it's not occured since.
Doesn't mean it won't happen again, but thus far I've been fortunate.
It's certainly a BHVR issue, but has anybody tried removing the cache to see whether it makes any difference?
-
I prefer information perks above all else, and the simplest often works out for the best with my playstyle.
For survivor, it's either Empathy, Kindred or Deja Vu.
For killer, anything like I'm All Ears, Bitter Murmur or Lethal Pursuer.
The fact mine are always randomized means it doesn't happen often, but when I get them it's a blessing.
-
I used to have Bond as my avatar, but when Silent Hill came out I changed it to Blood Pact. I should have chosen Repressed Alliance since I am a 50/50 player, but the Blood Pact perk felt like Bond or Empathy; an attempt to reach out and keep balanced where possible.
-
I don't think any killer could defeat the Entity. However, there are some attached to stronge forces who might:
Demogorgon has the Mind Flayer and that entire domain, which acts like some Eldritch God.
Pyramid Head is linked to the Sun Goddess, a deity who supposedly will bring an eternal paradise.
Pinhead is one of the big guys of Hell.
Not sure about the others, but really it needs something bigger to beat it. I don't believe the Entity is some untouchable Cthulu-like being, moreover a powerful parasite of sorts. Something can and will beat it. Question is: will all universes be better or worse when that happen? Because if it's the Fears from The Magnus Archives which beats The Entity, then these trials will feel like Ibiza nightlife, compared to what would happen!
-
Nearly never, because then I don't get annoyed by potentially nasty comments.
I've looked back at 2: One was because I had an exceptionally bad match as Hillbilly and the TTV players allowed me an endgame sacrifice, which I tried to refuse but he was having none of it. He was quite chilled, and even though he said "This is not a good killer" he didn't act derogatory.
The second was a killer who played Wraith, who when 1 dc'd and another deliberately suicided on the hook, the Wraith proceeded to allow us remaining 2 to complete the gens and even stun him with pallets! At the end, the other survivor escaped, and although I opened my gate and could have escaped, I instead waited for the Wraith then waved him to follow me into the basement where I offered myself as a sacrifice to thank him for his fair play. The TTV streamer was really sweet in her understanding of what was happening, and she seemed touched when I offered the sacrifice: she said something like: "Aww, sweetie! Okay, WHACK! I'll give you a nice hook!"
-
I'm not sure some understand how to express themselves maturely, or perhaps the veil of the internet allows them to act more cocky than usual.
The only thing ranting succeeds in is a false sense that it's achieving something, when in some cases it makes the person feel even worse!
I completely get that everyone is human and have their breaking points, but logics and factual information will always be more helpful than personal feelings. And it won't hurt other people's feelings while they're at it.
-
What a nice, positive message!
I'm 50/50, and would recommend people give both sides a try. It'll certainly help both become better at the game and see what both sides face.
-
Happened just once on Xbox One when loading into a trial after the lobby. The loading icon was moving, but never got to the match.
I exited the game and pressed "quit" on the application, then restarted it. I've not had an issue since.
-
Here's a classic YouTube vid from a long time ago by Fungo. I think it's apt for this discussion and DBD:
https://youtu.be/Zj1nJzQPVYA -
I don't feel breaking them would be good overall. I do feel they need changing, but breaking them won't fix it.
-
Evidence is required mostly. I guess the problems arise when people just make a new profile and come back on, or that there are so many false reports being made by either bitter or inexperienced people that it takes forever to get any action.
However, reporting is better than doing nothing at all. I'm sire there are bans, even though at times it may not feel like it.
-
If Hex: Thrill of the Hunt appears in my randomized builds, it only felt worthwhile as either a distraction for survivors to think that maybe NOED was about, or the notification when a survivor started cleansing it.
Now the notification has gone, I suppose the other benefit is reducing Booning, but honestly (were it not for that I always randomize builds) there would be no reason to pick it, considering the sheer amount of stronger perks available.
-
It was never toxic before, but now they are far less likely to be a primary target when I play killer.
Keys were needing a balance, as were Mori's. It seemed both those offerings were created to end the game early, so I'm glad they've both been nerfed.
-
Her best feature by far, above all her looks, is her passion and her heart.
Especiqlly when the heart is impaled at the end of a hook >:)
-
I don't see Hexes as useless. They are still available to use, and if anything a survivor wanting to Boon it would take longer than cleansing it, so effectively the Hex hasn't been affected any worse, except maybe NOED if the remaining totems are Booned, and even then if the only totems left are Booned then it stands to reason they would have been cleansed anyway.
Boons don't make Hexes redundant, and I actually don't mind their power, but it's the significant amount of times they can be used which is the main issue for me. Heck, they can be even more powerful, but being able to simply relight as many totems as required for the payback it gives all survivors isn't balanced for strength vs risk.
-
@Nicholas said:
I love these threads; the bias shines with some people. Let's turn a new Survivor perk into a tool that benefits The Killer: let's make everyone exposed! Lol, Why not change Hex: Haunted Ground to provide a 7% Haste status effect for the duration of Exposed?
From a 50/50 perspective, there's no bias to any side. Just that as they stand they need changing a bit from both perspectives considering as survivor they make the game boring for me, and as killer it's frustrating. Where's the bias?
-
I play 50/50, and even as survivor the Boon has made playing feel like easy mode. I can see the safe area anywhere on the map and just go to it and pretty much be safe. It's just very unrewarding. And as killer, it's not the strength for me but just how many times and on how many totems they can be placed on, effectively creating a large area that can be relit whenever.
Basically, they just make survivor much easier and actually makes the game dull. And I don't feel they have thought it through that well at all.
-
It does need some altering, although there are a variety of ways:
1. Use once per trial, and allow Boons to have the same strengths as they had during the PTB.
2. Only 1 Boon active at a time, and anyone who has a Boon power automatically has their power transfered to that Boon.
3. Keep Boons as they currently are, but should a killer stamp one out they get something in return, like everyone is Exposed for a short period of time, thereby have a strong risk/ atrong reward for them.
There mqy be others, but those would be my choices. However, as they currently stand they're far too strong and easy to set up. It's a very low risk/ high reward perk currently amd needs rebalancing.

How does it matter? In 2 days those perks will be on every survivor people level up.
It matters because it's not 2 days time yet.
-
Were you playing Mikaela Reid, perchance? Her strongest Boon perks are pretty much making her the new key-holder.
-
Mikaela has become the new "key", as in whenever I see her now I shall aim to remove her as quickly as possible from the game.
-
Boons absolutely need a rework.
As a survivor, every game involving a Boon is now piss easy. Light a Boon in a certain area and you can heal easily. There is no stress or concern. Facing killers is pretty much a joke now.
As a killer, you don't know if a Boon is there until you practically step on it, and as the above strategy it's much harder to get any sort of momentum.
Basically, a Boon should be just like a Hex as in a once only use, but keep the strength of them as is. I'm fine with them being crazy strong, but to have it easy to keep re-enabling them as it is, the game is woefully imbalanced.
Games are now duller for them.

Don't forget that forum posters are a small, small percentage of the game population. The great bulk of people playing the game couldn't care less about the forums or NFT that give out Hellraiser coupons or whatever.
This. There are so many players, and this forum is the equivalent to the Isle of Man, whilst people not on this forum is the UK mainland. It may be vocal here, but the term "vocal minority" comes to mind.
BHVR may very well be able to survive this, but this should ring alarm bells for any deals they do in future.
-
I've just had a match where the 2 Mikaelas were creating Boons before disconnecting. It seemed that if someone placed a Boon when another was already lit then one of them disconnected. The other went when a 4th Boon was lit, so I wonder if also trying to make a 2nd Boon when you have already made one which is still active, whether that caused a crash.
-
I feel I would regain a bit more respect for them if they considered all of these responses and recalled/deleted the Hellraiser dlc with refunds to those who bought it.
It's understandable that they may have been hoodwinked a bit to claim the licence, so I don't think they are evil-incarnate. Bit of they knew that NFT's were involved then it would have been worthwhile asking a general consensus to everyone, explaining about the deal and what their understanding of the NFTs are, and maybe asking for feedback. Then if they decided against it at least everyone would understand.
They can turn this round, but it needs to be faster than their current cannonball-turning capabilities.

I honestly do not get how this otogomes and BossProtocol are linked together. As far as I see this guy is just somebody who likes cryptos. Maybe a conspirancy theorist who loves cryptos, but I fail to see the link to BossProtocol and BHVR. Please enlight me about the connection as I do not get it.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2570600#Comment_2570600
Shame that this is the way because the DLC itself is pretty good. Pinhead is a fine character and fun to play. But oh well, no way out, right?
I'm not sure either, but I want to know why this guy has a very vested interest in this product, compared to any other cryptocurrency. Most recent stiff has been about that, and whilst I'm unsure what link (if any) there is, I also feel he's unhealthily intrigued by this specific thing.
I was almost going to create a topic on it, until I couldn't find any tangible link that was obvious between him and the cryptocurrency. I just am not understanding about his interest and it males me feel uneasy.
Edit: He is a rep of some sort, and has some connection with Boss Protocol. A mentor of sorts.

It's not about getting the actual refund. It's simply just sending a message. You either get a refund for all the content you bought or you keep the game and uninstall it while watching the storm brew as Steam is notified of the practices. If you get a refund, that's even more of a bonus.
I agree, which is why I said it would be interesting to see what happens. With luck, we might see some action pretty soon - afterall, if Steam want to crack down on NFT-related stuff, then they'll most definitely want to analyse this.
One interesting thing would be if they don't remove it. If that happened, what is the real relationship between DBD and these NFTs, because that would be really confusing with all of these mixed messages. Why we got mixed messages in the first place is confusing enough!
-
@Desh said:
Don't just uninstall the game, request a refund. Let Steam know the horrid practices of what BHVR is doing and hit them where it hurts, their wallets.
Just submitted for refunds through steam on the game and all of the DLC I bought. Will it get approved? Probably not since I've owned it and played it for many years. But at least Steam will be tracking it since I annotated the reasons on why I wanted a refund and provided sources. I suggest y'all do the same.
Not sure it would work. However, if you state it's for the reason of NFTs, and Steam recently released their opinion of them, then it would be interesting to see the reaction. What if the Hellraiser dlc was asked to be refunded by everyone who owns it? As that has direct links to NFTs, that could be a lot easier to argue the case.

that's actually not very surprising. it's exactly those kinds of people that are absolutely into crapto, thinking there is anything positive to it.
The same people who STILL mock and belittle commission artists that 20$ for a full-colour, full-shaded, drawn backgroun 3/4 picture is too expensive.
More troubling is that, by association, people may believe both parties share that same political viewpoint.
To make it clear, I'm not saying BHVR do share the same views, but I could understand if people would start to believe that they did share similar opinions. I cannot imagine a company teaming with another if certain political views that may be deemed dangerous are held only by one, especially if it's as mad as Otogomes is.

Not looking good for DBD on steam...
https://twitter.com/otogomes/status/1450178230804115457?t=1XblGWmhUxAU-Rpy9PKpmQ&s=19
I just had a gander on otogomes twitter:
They seem like tin-foil, crack-pot conspiracy theorists! Tweets about 9/11 not being a terrorist attack and anti-vaxx bullshit... they are very strong, wacko theories. And BHVR teamed with them?
That's a horrendously bad partnership they have there!
-
Whatever the link BHVR have with these companies, and to what degree were they actively involved with it, the shame is that they have played a part regardless in something that's extremely unpopular.
I'm not sure exactly how painful it would be for them, but the best thing BHVR could do now is ditch all connections with those companies and offer full refunds for Hellraiser chapters, and just erase its existence.
If they decide to continue along this path, it will be the end eventually, and what's worse is that it wasn't even needed! Heck, people were pissed with bugs and matchmaking, but if it were that alone it would be fine overall, but this is a very self-destructive move by them which makes no sense, considering they were the leaders of this genre! Now, they could actually lose it.
I enjoy this game, but it just feels it would be best if they do suffer as a result of this.
-
I feel DBD has a strong enough base that no single game in its ballpark will be capable of doing so. However, neither would they actually be focused on that. They'd rather focus on how their game will evolve.
VHS seems to have a team who genuinely are passionate and they've come up with some interesting ideas. I'm not a fan of the art design, but that's purely my taste. It's very much a game which also focuses on the 80s nostalgia, so when trends change into a 90s nostalgia or some other flavour, they will have to adapt moreso than DBD. But it has the chance to make its own niche.
Propnight feels it's just focused on playing tribute to 2 games. I doubt it will have longevity, but at the same time may have some initial interest. Doesn't look as fun as either the 2 games it wants to emulate.
-
Ggwp!
Props👍

I'm currently playing Trapper, and I shall be looking forward to the new add-ons, which look rather more interesting now. That makeshift wrap, alongside turning the killer shack into a kill zone, sounds especially evil! >:)

It'll be neat to have a new mechanic to play with and see how it integrates over time with how the game evolves.
There's quite a few other changes coming too, so we'll see how it goes. I'm glad there's plenty of changes to try out!
-
I'd probably recommend putting this forwards as a bug in the bugs section.
Clearly, another sign BHVR sonetimes have issues of not seeing the forest through the trees. *bu-bom, tsk*

@Dino7281 said:
You have to learn that some maps can't be played just running around hooking survivors.
So we have maps that you need to:
Azarov's Resting Place -> choose one half of the map + middle gen and never leave.
Sanctum of Wrath -> again, choose one half + middle gen.
Raccoon City Police Station -> some as above, one side + middle gen.
The Underground Complex -> don't bother defending top gen.
Dead Dawg Saloon -> again, it is usually better to let them finish top gen and setup 3-gen behind shack / hangman, where you can get huge deadzone.
Groaning Storehouse -> you have two gens in corners of the map, that are really far. So it is often better to ignore those too.
On most maps, you will have gens that are really close (your 3-gen) and you usually wanna defend that area a lot against good survivors. Then you have gens with big distance from other gens and those you usually want to let survivors repair. You can defend it with Ruin tho.
You have maps where you can get away with just chasing whoever you see, if you have good enough killer for it.
This is the best tip for prolonging a game to give a better chance of success.
As well as this, also keep survivors doing anything but gens by slugging 1 survivor, injuring a few if you have the chance and hooking survivors in areas which can either be used as an alert (e.g.: a hook by a gen) or far away from objectives, which makes rescuers have to travel further.
Also, I know some people don't advise the basement, but if you are given a map which has gens close to eaxh other by the basement, use it. You can control a lot that way.
-
1. Cheaters/ hackers: A better anti-cheat system, such as IP or hardware blockers, needs to be prioritised.
2. Variety: More objectives and unpredictability needs to be introduced, because without it the novelty will wear thin.
3. Healthy communication: The devs could communicate a bit more over certain issues, and some members of the community could learn some manners.
-
That build would be great on Pyramid Head with Trail of Torment and the add-ons of Obsidion Goblet and Lost Memories Book, when the James Sunderland skin becomes available!
If I get James in my lobby, I will happily set that up amd just spend the entire game stalking James. Not hooking, but simply stalking him consistently.
Could also say the same with Myers and Laurie ... now, that is terrifying to think of!
-
The reason the horror becomes far less effective is due to how predictable the game becomes. When people become familiar with everything, any chance of fear goes out of the window. That first time you played your favourite horror game or watched that horror movie is far more scary than hqving the experience all over again
Key to something having true fear is to make sure the player is never sure what will happen. Left 4 Dead actually did a good job of keeping replays fresh by introducing sheer unpredictability in where the hordes and specials would come in, and I think in Left 4 Dead 2 they even did some map manipulation.
However the game goes, the only way it could ever recreate fear is to create unfamiliarity: new, various objectives; traps; events that happen during the trial, like everything darkening randomly; Entity involvement on a larger scale; more creative add-ons for killer that makes the game less predictable; a mode with better rewards but forces players to randomise the builds; etc..
True fear comes from not knowing.
-
An IP and/or hardwear blocker is the exact thing they'd need for this game! If they develop something like that it will make the cheater experience far less.
Not sure how long these things take to impliment, but if BHVR want better results then this is the way to go, rather than just cancelling an account.
-
I grew up with Silent Hill, ever since I bought the first game after mistaking it for another game entirely, and have been hooked by the lore, world and games ever since.
When the Chapter was announced, I remember saying out loud "You bloody brilliant bastards! You actually did it!", and snatched up the dlc straight away on release!
Silent Hill 4: The Room is my absolute favourite, and recent re-evaluations have seen it in a much better light than when it was first released. Would've made a damn fine dlc too - especially with the Ghosts as AI (I devised a Chapter with Ghosts as part of the power, so was happy when RE eventually came out with zombies!).
And finally, the forums for Silent Hill ... my God, the forums! So much toxicity at times! And it was guaranteed that during any argument someone would start with "Any TRUE SILENT HILL FAN would know...".
-
It is much improved over the previous system, which was an absolutely confusing pile of dung! And I can only speak subjectively, but it's worked well for me as both survivor and killer.
However, I feel that especially for newer players they are not placed at the bottom of MMR, so whilst the system works everything out it makes things very beginner-unfriendly.
Maybe find some other players who are likewise getting adjusted to everything (maybe discord?) and perhaps get a group together to practice with each other? I vaguely remember seeing an option on the forums..
Edit: There's the "Looking for players" section in the forum. Maybe see whether any other new guys or people who could spend a bit of time mentoring could help?
-
One vital question that needs investigating is: what was it that led to the increase in hackers at the same time the SBMM was put in place?
Everybody knows hackers have been around for a long time, still it's puzzling that the two correlated as they have.
Was this planned? Did the introduction of SBMM create a weak spot? Why does this strange coincidence exist?
-
For survivor it would be "slippery meat" because it's been absolutely pointless throughout my time playing survivor.
For killer it's probably going to be "predator", because it can become disadvantageous.
-
Considering Spirit is dead, I'm going to make the assumption she has no body heat and therefore is the coolest.
-
Definitely Xenomorph. That beast would be terrifying to face .. for at least the first few rounds.
