The survivor one sounds a bit like old MoM and I'm not sure how to feel about that lol. I really like the idea behind the killer one though
Yeah, the survivor one may need more conditions before it activates, and the killer one I liked more too bexause it doesn't take away survivor skill or doing their objectives, but it does cause some panic, especially with which perks they have to wait longest for. Choosing Dead Hard, but that being the last perk made available could result in some early hooks.
-
Not if it's like this..
-
This looks like one of those cursed websites on the dark web, where that monster thing stares at the screen for several minutes before turning to face the figure in the bed, walk slowly towards them, and then jump onto them before slowly ripping their skin off their face, gouging out the eyes and then return to that original pose, now wearing the face and eyes.
Where this ended was not where I originally thought this comment would go!
-
I support the game, and also feel that competition would be good for it, so I am hoping more games like VHS start to emerge.
Also, I wouldn't stop playing this, even if another appealing game came along, because honestly why not play both!
This game does need some evolution and improvements, although at the same time some of the complaints laid against it are smelly #########. Also, it has done a lot of things right, as well as bodged.
Ultimately, they're going to remain the leaders for quite some time, but some good competitors would absolutely be a great thing.

Your survivor perk sounds like a good Mettle of Men. I think it could work well, I would maybe just have the hit apply the deep wound status effect, so the killer still gained a bit of pressure from hitting you. Unless it also works when being healthy, then that wouldn't really work, but not sure if that would maybe be a bit too good.
It's trying to get thqt balance between high-powered, yet having to earn it. "Shielded" would differ from "Endurance" because it acts as a proper shield and would not grant deep wound status. So it's a reward for good, altruistic play. Maybe it could also add taking a protection hit, or add more requirements, but it would be about taking time for keeping people alive for longer.
Maybe it could need more requirements after the first use (for example: [1 unhook + 2×heals] becomes [2 unhook + 2×heals + 1 protection hit]. Either way, I wanted stronger perks for both survivor qnd killer to add more variety.
Thank you for the feedback!

That mentality is a major reason why playing both as killer and survivor can become exceptionally unfun.
A bigger person would either take a break, or move forward to improve the attitudes in game by just treating each trial as a new start.
I have a rule that is only to message people after match to compliment. In turn, I've found a lot of friendly individuals. A couple even apologised for things they thought were toxic that I didn't, and I'd like to think they at least thought a bit more about their actions. If I get a dickish comment, I either reply with a joke or ignore.
And if there's a bad game, then I take a moment if I am flustered before the next trial, or do something else.
Basically, take a step back and look at how you intend to go forward. It may increase negatively how others play with you, and no amount of teabagging or face-camping will make that feel better.

Killer perk: Freshman
Description: Your students will learn, even if they start dumb. At the start of the game, all perks are disabled for all survivors. After 60 seconds a perk will become available at random, and every 25/30/35 seconds another perk becomes available until all are freed.
Survivor Perk: Do Unto Others...
Description: ... as they do unto you. When you have at least unhooked 2/1/1 survivors and healed 3/3/2 health states total, you gain the "shielded" status and can withstand an additional hit. This effect cannot be stacked, but lasts until you're next hit.
-
A good killer can use the red stain to their advantage. Correction: a mediocre killer can use it to their advantage. But even the best killers can be outplayed by survivors if they manage to guess or anticipate correctly.
In worst cases, Beast of Prey removes that stain once you hit Bloodlust.
Ultimately, its use is a valuable part of play between killers and survivors, so I would hate to lose it, regardless of which side I play on.
-
Yes, it's fine.

My favourite is definitely Hybridpanda. I'm so glad he's brought back "Shrine Watch" and he's extremely entertaining, positive and rational, whilst also making enjoyable matches and videos.
Other content creators I watch are Otz, Ohmwrecker, Jund, OhTofu, The King and Azhymovs

No the "side" I was referring to was the side of the video game case, in this case the front side.
Goddam technicalities!
-
Technically, it is the back of the Trapper; not side. Therefore, DBD is killer-backed, not killer-sided.
-
It's been said a few times before, but recent changes have perhaps been a major reason:
The Boon totems, as the currently stand, are a major concern to killers. If there's evidence (or suspicion) to show a particular survivor has this perk, then they will be heavily targetted, but no different than when the keys were powerful. It's the new "key" for now, but I reckon they'll nerf Boons later on.
Also, MMR. Some players have decided they want a higher MMR, despite a) people with it complaining about how unfun it is, b) that there is no reward for doing so and c) not knowing how they stand amongst others. It's better to get Pips which actually reward you with more BP, than climb up a ladder people cannot see which rung they're on and get nothing back for it.
Finally, there's just normalcy, really! I mean, some days you get tunnelled and somedays you don't. Nothing wrong or illegal about it and everyone has to accept that matches will not all go as you want! Today, I had 1 match where I was hooked once and died as nobody came to save. Another where everyone decided to get Cannibalised early, leaving me to almost get the hatch but lose yards from it. These matches can be annoying, but they happen and they do not take away from all the great matches I've had as both killer and survivor.
-
Some have said the disconnection penalty is back on now, so they'll be getting theirs.
I wouldn't know since I don't dc, but yeah it's very clear that the vast majority of people who have these hissy fits ruin it.
There is an extremely minor number of dc'ers who disconnect for legitimate reasons (emergencies and such), but to them 5 mins wouldn't affect them because they're having an emergency. But that is a severe minority of players.
-
I'd be for an early game idea where a survivor needs to locate a sigil on the map before they can start gens. It may not take long, but I don't think they need a ridiculously long start game. If every sirvivor had that, it would give the killer a little more time, but not be horrendous.
-
Yeah, I know. Just me joshing with you.

Interesting to note that the ambiguity over Pyramid Head's relationship to the Entity in terms of how powerful he is, and then this blight cosmetic.. I wonder of this was a part of the agreement to have Pyramid Head as part of something that could challenge the Entity.
Personally, my head-cannon is that any blight cosmetic after the 5th anniversary isn't cannon, but if it is it's nice to see Pyramid Head choosing this. Is this Pyramid Head integrating further into the Entity? A way of the Sun Goddess exploring the Entity? Or even the Entity gifting Pyramid Head in some way?
No idea, but my head-cannon says this is just a rather gnarly (in a good way) cosmetic.

Well, it would be a rather different direction for Dead By Daylight...
Sting as survivor?

I think you meant Iron grasp?
Yes, yes I did. Well done for spotting my deliberate mistake ... umm ... yeah, that's what it was! Good work! *walks away sheepishly*
-
Agitation (especially when coupled with Iron Will) pretty much gets a survivor to the basement from nearly any point in a map, so if Bubba wants you there then there's not a great deal to do about it.
Unless I see evidence to the contrary that Bubba isn't there, I'll never rescue a survivor from the basement with him in-game. Best just crack on with the gens than be sucked into the Entity's equivalent of a Black Hole. More exciting doing gens than hanging around.
-
I feel Jake Park is being overlooked a little here - he has an amazing scream, as well as injured sounds.
He may not be the best, but he certainly deserves a mention.
-
It would just become hide and seek, or Prophunt without the fun changing into different items.
Also, there would be no reason to save a hooked survivor, because why not wait it out until the hatch? It would be better to keep hidden and take that, than risk it through 5 gens. Gens basically become pointless, as does pretty much most other parts of the game.
It doesn't feel like an idea which would hold any long-standing appeal. For it to work, the game would need complete restructuring, because in its current state, there isn't a satisfactory setup that would make this remotely fun.
-
Just interested in what's happening, if there are any creative or interesting discussions and just a general peruse.
-
A soup is a liquid food, comprising of vegetables and meat, combined with stock, milk or water. Basically, food is cooked to buggery within the liquid, where all the flavour is extracted.
By the way, soups made with bone marrow are especially healthy, woth a vast array of minerals, some vitamins, collagen, omega-3 fatty acids and improves memory. Worth trying!
-
I'd be fine with Boons as they were (28m radius and stacking) if there was some mechanic which either meant once the Boon was stomped out, then that player no longer has that perk for the rest of the match (like a Hex), can no longer Boon that particular totem, or there is a consequence.
But re-booning stuff is just tiresome. As survivor, the game becomes infinitely easier for me, with a safe haven away from killers and easy heals, and as a killer having Boons that can be lit and re-lit anywhere, anytime, with no bad repercussions except a very short time to relight them again .. it's just not a balanced perk and needs readjustment.
-
Bubba, the ultimate 1-hit wonder!
In fairness, map-awareness and wise decision-making are good ways around this, but get caught in an enclosed space or meet up with a Tinkering Bubba, and it's just pure, unadulterated pain from there on.
However, if we're talking killers which just feel "meh" to go against, then it's Legion for me, because they don't seem to have any real presence for me.
-
And now James Sunderland has entered the arena, there's plenty more reason to play him!
-
Yeah, sounds fun!
-
Somehow, this post manages to sound both wholesome and nihilistic at the same time.
How the hell did you achieve that???

@Beaburd said:
This perk is fine, you guys are over-reacting.
Does it give both you and your entire team "We'll Make It" and a version of "Self-Care" that's more powerful than it's ever been in this game's history? Yes.
Does one person bringing this single perk basically mean you're giving your entire team the equivalent of 8 cumulative perks for one perk slot (SC and WMI for everyone)? Yes.
Does each of the perks it gives your team for free normally have an activation condition (unhooking) or a downside (reduced healing speed)? Yes.
And does this perk allow you to bypass these normal perk limitations to create super versions of them for free? Yes.
But you have to remember it's constrained to totems that take 14 seconds to bless, and that killers can extinguish it freely.
---
Now sure, 14 seconds to effectively give your entire team unconditional access to 8 super perks for one perk slot sounds overpowered, but think about it this way.
The killer can temporarily disabled that totem if they can find it, by deciding to take their much more valuable time locating and destroying it. Meanwhile the pitiable survivor needs to use a little more of their much less valuable time re-establishing it in the next key location of their choosing.
---
So overall, after thorough evaluation and contemplation, I would have to say this perk is really messed up and gl to you hit and run killers in particular. Sucks to be you.
Wait, I play Ghostface and Legion... Son of a-
Best comment ever!👍😆

My thoughts briefly (and not completely thought-out) on what may happen to each:
Evan MacMillan: Questioned over the mining disaster, but as it was never proven Evan probably was seen as a victim since his dad died, and most likely prospered.
Philip Ojomo: Hunted by Azarov's men and killed. A mob versus one individual in a foreign land is a very one-sided fight. A bit like Wraith versus 4 survivors with torches really!
Max Thompson Jnr.: With all the killings, there would undoubtably be a manhunt as Max would continue to kill. I doubt he'll go quietly, so I'd guess he would ultimately be shot.
Sally Smithson: Thanks to an inconsistent law I'm not entitely sure, but overall I'd believe she would have been sent to an insane asylum and subjected to the cruel treatment people had at that time.
Michael Myers: The movies are a pretty good diary of what would have happened. More brutal killings and multiple failed attempts by others at killing him off.
Lisa Sherwood: Found dead by the village search party. In spite of a dark hunger allowing her to fight back, her wounds were so severe she would have died by the time she was found.
Herman Carter: As with most wealthy and "respected" individuals, he will have friends and funds in high places. Maybe when he's approaching the end of his life he may go to trial, but only when he serves no useful purpose and protect the hide of another.
Anna: She is basically an expert of survival, so she'll continue life in the Red Forest. I'd wager she will eventually manage to keep a young girl alive and train her in the ways he mum trained her.
Bubba Sawyer: He will return to the uncertainty of his family, who he feared would be taken away by the authorities after that one girl escaped. Maybe they relocate, realising there is no other choice.
Freddy Krueger: Being the remake version, the movies before aren't cannon for this Freddy to follow. All we can guess is he will return to Elm Street and continue the torment the children.
Amanda Young: Dead.
Kenneth Chase: As the years roll on, his waus would eventually get him in trouble. I reckon he'd make a mistake and get arrested; to spend the rest of his days behind bars in a high security prison.
Rin Yamaoka: Dead, although her father would eventually meet justice.
The Legion: Their ways would escalateand eventually they'd join larger gangs. Susie might leave before it gets too deep, but would probably not turn them in neither. After that, they'll either get to the top or die trying.
Adiris: Dead.
Jed Olsen: One day, he will slip up. He'll move from place to place, but his over-confidence will lead to mistakes, as they often do with serial killers. But even when he is caught, he'll want to be headline news. Although, I also feel he'd rather kill himself than go to jail.
Demogorgon: Back to the Upside Down to continue its life. Maybe come across to our world if more portals open.
Kazan Yamaoka: He was left for dead, but that's not to say he died. He has a lot of fight and would at least attempt to make some sort of escape. I'm not certain whether he would survive, but he'd be damned if he's beaten by a bunch of peasants. Depends on how badly they harmed him.
Caleb Quinn: With the backing of the Hellshire Gang and his enemies in the dust, Caleb would continue working on new inventions. Maybe he'll make a device for the betterment of society, or create more devastating weapons. But because of his moral ambiguity, he could be either good or bad.
Pyramid Head: A future of appearances in disappointing sequels, plushies and pinko machines. Pyramid Head would be the one killer who'd rather stay than live in that Hell! Seriously, his role is no longer required and he will cease to exist.
Talbot Grimes: Locked away in an asylum or kept as a freak. The heavy drug-taking and nightmares would eventually drive him insane. A once promising career in ruin
Charlotte Deshayes: Death in the cold. At least she will now join Victor in rest, whatever happens after.
Ji-Woon Hak: Oddly, I reckon he may kill himself or retire into obscurity. He had achieved "perfection", and Jack the Ripper never struck again after his last murder was a room caked with gore - like the perfect painting, so as Ji-Woon Hak eventually realises he cannot do better, why not end at the top of your game!
Nemesis: RE3 answers this perfectly - death by Jill.
Pinhead: As per the movies, he continues until God is angered by the death of one of his angels at Pinhead's hands, and eventually Pinhead is punished by being returned to his original human form.

Seems like a troll post to me. Still, may need to be looked into @MandyTalk
-
It's a risky, yet clever, strategy. And I actually wouldn't call it scummy because you're trying to outplay at the start. A bit like the New Zealand haka in rugby, as a way of using intimidation before the first play.
Of course, some killers go in with a preset build and won't change, so on some occassions this tactic may actually backfire spectacularly. I've had Lightborn preset when a group of survivors all switched to torches at the final moment. I cannot begin to tell you how fun that match was!
But I don't feel this is an unfair trick; if it were, then the option to switch would not be available in the first place.
-
I watched it firstly in a crowded cinema, which kinda took away from the whole fear thing (a cinema room full of Fresher students is not the best way to watch this type of movie!)
However, I watched it alone a second time when it came out on DVD and it was way better! It was a pretty clever idea, not just because of it being filmed as an amateur documentary, but the lead up to the release on MTV and such with snippets of the interviews with both locals and the documentarians themselves.
It has undoubtably left a strong influence and legacy on the horror genre, amd whilst it wasn't the first (not sure if Cannibal Holocaust was the first neither, but it was earlier), its impact, psychological horror and style is unquestionable.
-
I'm not sure about builds, but perks that would certainly be considered to be involved in scaring survivors are:
Hex: NOED, Hex: Devour Hope, Hex: Haunted Ground, Rancor, Franklin's Demise, Blood Warden, Brutal Strength, Hex: Huntress Lullaby, Make Your Choice, Play With Your Food, Mad Grit, Iron Maiden, Cruel Limits, Trail Of Torment, Dragon's Grip, Hex: Blood Favour, No Way Out, Eruption, Hex: Plaything
-
I love psychological horror, and anything that links to it. Not a fan of torture porn or excessive gore, because it often feels unimaginative and boring (often because of terrible character development is replaced by how many gallons of blood needs to be shed), but any horror that focuses on fears and despair intrigues me an awful lot.
Stuff like Jacob's Ladder, Alien, Session 9, The Mist, Se7en, The Thing, The Blair Witch Project, and even movies which have minimal horror but still psychological like 24 Hour Photo, Watership Down (yes, that has a small bit of horror, especially for people with a fear of claustrophobia) or Eternal Sunshine Of A Spotless Mind still entice more than Hostel and co.
-
I never do, whether as survivor or killer.
However, it does cast fear in my heart when I load into a lobby as killer and all survivors are named after various British supermarkets. Those guys are a nightmare to face, although I have had them once or twice. Still traumatised though!
-
Please tell me in the first example that the bitter player chose Mikaela as their character!
The fact that they said you should play The Sims, whilst playing a survivor whose lobby actions remind me exactly of a Sim (magically appearing/ disappearing book animation) sounds amusingly ironic!
-
Not sure I fully understand the poll. I selected Pyramid Head, basing it upon a Nemesis vs Pyramid Head fight. But if it's to do with the Silent Hill franchise vs the RE franchise in general, I believe RE has been more consistent.
-
It's fair, considering you are putting yourself at risk to make the most of it. Most would prefer to be fully healed than gain that bonus, except perhaps in the rarity of having Resilience paired with Adrenaline to risk that final gen.
-
I know there are absolutely better ones, but for me the snap and scream that folows from a survivor getting caught in a bear trap does sound extremely satisfying!
-
You do not know the meaning of the word "worst", until you have sat through an entire Uwe Bohl film.
As Pinhead says: "We have such sights to show you!"
-
Because of the sheer amount of them now, removing the tier list would be better now.
An alternative would be to select a set number of perks you want to appear in the bloodweb. If that were the case, I don't mind keeping tiers. But as it currently stands I think tiers have had their day in the sun.
-
I think the issue comes when the same few maps are always played and some get missed out. I miss the variety, even when it's a map I have a strong disliking to, and this would not only reduce the number of maps each side would select, but also start becoming very predictable.
The way it works now would be better, although maybe the rotation needs altering a bit more, since there have been sessions I'd play where I may have 5 trials and 3 go to Ormond, for example.
-
The real question would be - were it to be a full chapter - who would be the survivor?
-
Myers is King for me. He is the Randy Orton of jumpscares (outta nowhere!!)
-
Teabagging by the exit is normally just an insecurity issue deep down, even though on the surface it appears as gloating. Maybe it's the first time they escaped for a while so they need to big themselves up, but ultimately it's just to cover insecurity. Sounds weird because they won, but it's not uncommon.
However, teabagging during the game up until then is actually a legitimate tactic, as it may either distract the killer from chasing other survivors who are either injured or struggling, or distract killers from survivors doing gens.
Unless it's after the game or pretty much when they know they cannot be beaten (unless Blood Warden) then it's a part of the game.
-
Once the hacking problem is put under control I would absolutely agree with you!
However, when the current situation has hackers which can not only ruin your game, but can destroy your router, modem, PC or console, or hold you hostage, keeping disconnects on is absolutely vital.
I'd rather have a game ruined because we lose someone through to a dc early on, than have a game ruined because my console has been destroyed.
-
I always find it fun to imagine each cosmetic set (or varied combinations of cosmetics) as different people anyway, considering there are loads of individuals in many, many realms.
But coming back to the original discussion, I guess time is a singularity there. Time is a human construct, and considering the universe/ multiverse doesn't work by those same means, then it can work as the Entity has its own version of "time", or even just exists at one specific point and brings everyone to that point.
Back to cosmetics, I read somewhere the default outfits for each character is their only outfit and cosmetics are just adding variety to the game. If that's the case, where do the blighted cosmetics stand? If a killer has been experimented on by Talbot, then their original outfit no longer exists. But maybe only those killers up to the final Blight have been converted, which means Nemesis and Pyramid Head blighted cosmetics are merely just for variety.
-
I've faced a Pyramid Head this afternoon, and it was a darn fun match! But there have been more Nemisis's (Nemesae?) than Pyramid Heads. Not sure that people have moved from one to the other though, since their powers are fairly different.
But those zombies are just such fun to face!
