I don't want to confuse people with my language. I have my reasons for that.
Alright, I was just wondering. But why bother when people can easily check your comment/discussion history on this platform to see what language that is. Not to mention go look for your profile by means of the username displayed.

what's with all the censoring

To add to this: several challenges in this page also fail to mention the "complete in 2v8" requirement. I tried one in regular mode but it didn't progress.
-
I am pretty sure this is intended. Blocked gens cannot regress by any means. If a gen is regressing, and something blocks it, the regression is paused until it unblocks.
While Weaving Spiders is not a regression event, it still is an event that influences a generator's total charges. On the wiki, it says: "A blocked Generator freezes its current state and progression for as long as it remains blocked." -
The dog's animations look extremely unpolished, which is expected from a PTB. But I really hope it's getting looked at before release.
Because Knight too is still an incredibly ugly mess at times (completely disappearing for a split second when finishing a path and taking his terror radius with him). It just looks unfinished and he's been in the game for quite some time now. -

Yes I think "sad" is the right word to describe the survivor situation.
I genuinely don't understand how people can play soloQ in its current state. Between slugging, teammates giving up at 5 gens, and the honestly disturbing amount of griefers on killer now (who will eg. watch your character bleed out for 4 minutes). The game has always been unfair. But now it's just savage. Even when you are not playing against an actual psychopath, it feels like you spend more time in loading screens and watching slugging/death animations of your character than actually playing it. So many times you are put in a losing situation within the first 30 sec of the match, and then you spend 10 minutes just waiting for your death, hoping for the next match to be better, but it won't be. Depressing.
I used to main only survivor around 2021. When the devs shifted towards 60% killrate, I started playing killer thinking they would eventually revert it. Since they didn't, I have almost never played survivor again, and I've become sort of a killer main now. I think the killer experience is a lot more fun than survivor, but you have to approach it with the right mindset. I don't play sweaty at all, try to 12-hooks when possible, and often let a survivor go when something funny happen, which is surprisingly common. Even with meme-y builds, I rarely lose, and the experience is generally chill (not to say it's always like that- more about it later), also survivors usually understand I've been playing nicely and don't trashtalk in endgame. I truly believe this was the dev vision for the 60% killrate.
Regularly, I play against survivor streamers, and I watch the VOD afterwards looking for funny clips. But then, I keep watching their stream, and I realize how miserable the rest of their matches actually are. They face comp killers every game, teammates giving up every game, killers griefing them. I've seen a small streamer who played in an adorable way (tried to gather items under the Christmas tree on Ormond) get forced by the killer to do all 5 gens alone while the killer was holding her hostage through a bot. I've seen Skermz get bled out on stream, at least ten times. That's 5000+ viewers watching their streamer do nothing for 4 full minutes while the killer watches them like a psychopath. Usually, the streamers can cover this and make it funny because of their personality, but you can tell how depressing it must be for someone who plays this game alone.
As I grow older, I realize time is very valuable, and you shouldn't spend it on a video game UNLESS it's for a very good one. SoloQ in DBD, is not just unfun, it is depressing: so you are basically wasting your time, to get depressed - totally backwards. This is even more backwards that there will be people giving questionable advice like "you need 2k hours to be a good player at this game" - dude no, the goal is to have fun now, not to sink your life in DBD to have a chance to have fun later, otherwise this is borderline addiction.
On the other hand there's something important to acknowledge. Playing killer for years made me realize the game can also be hard for killers, and you can actually be put in helpless situations on killer, too. The 4-man SWFs who send you to Azarov are not a myth, they DO exist, albeit rare: but the same way that as survivor, you face some comp-wannabes Nurses who want to go for 4ks every match, there will be players like this on the survivor side.
This is why "Us vs. Them" is usually counterproductive, as both sides can be 2 sides of the same coin, and you will miss half the story if you only play one side. For example, survivors get bled out for 4 minutes, so they come on the forum complaining about "slugging" - and rightfully so -, but most killer players do not bleed out survivors, so from their perspective "slugging" means occasionally leaving a survivor for 1 minute on the ground - and they argue against it, rightfully so. We have two sides disagreeing, each only sees their perspective, and they don't even realize that they argue about something different. Instead, to fix bleedouts, my suggestion would be to simply allow survivors to give up after spending a minute on the ground. I don't know if it will fix the bleedout issue entirely, but it's a simple solution that 90% players will agree on, survivors AND killers, much more productive.
As a whole though, these "helpless" situations, while they do exist on the killer side too, are incomparably more common on the survivor side, and specifically in soloQ. In particular, I suspect most griefers play on the killer side for simple practical reasons: because griefing on the survivor side would require 3 friends who are like them, and would annoy only 1 person, so it is literally 16x less efficient than doing it on the killer side.
How the hell did you type all that and completely miss the point the OP is making. This was about tome challenges and rewards. I guess you copypasta'd it from somewhere else and didn't read what OP wrote?
@Donkeybqlls said:
I'm a survivor-main, only raison I'm not a survivor-only is the rewards and tomes. Am I being a spoiled brat to think it's "sad" being forced into a role I just really don't like? Or do some survs/killers feel the same way?
Event challenges tend to be mostly mixed challenges, which means you can do them on either role. Some exceptions apply, but if previous events are something to go by there will be a surplus of trinkets so you won't miss out on any rewards if you decide to play only one side.
Regular tomes also allow you to complete them as either Killer or Survivor. Nobody is forcing you to do anything, you can still complete them in the role of your choice. If you want to 100% them, then yes, you have to. But there is no special reward for 100%-ing a tome aside from some nice particle effects, so inherently there's nothing forcing you to do anything.
Besides, playing both roles from time to time helps putting things in perspective and understand better why the other side is doing what they're doing. Tome challenges are a great way to add variety to your gameplay. -
Which effect of OTR am I canceling if I do a conspicuous action? I can't tell which of its features are still active.
You are cancelling the Endurance effect, and you should see the corresponding icon disappear.
However, the silent grunts of pain and protection from aura reading remain in effect for the full duration, which is why the perk icon still shows a timer. -
Wait, already? Not in one hour?
Oh, that's right. Daylight Savings Time …
YAY! -
A silly build I've been enjoying on Nemesis consists of the perks
- Brutal Strength
- Enduring
- Knock Out
- Pop Goes The Weasel
The point is to make him that powerful killing machine he's supposed to be, able to shred through obstacles and inflict increased damage with his kicks and punches. In the Halloween event you can even augment this with the Blight Serum for super speed and the Haunts to simulate weapons.
On Dracula, I like running a build that plays well into his character and abilities:
- Bloodhound: although he has this basekit when in Wolf form, being a Vampire should also draw him to blood more.
- Darkness Revealed: my initial idea was Hex: Face the Darkness (due to his voiceline "The true lord of darkness is upon you!") but that didn't quite work out for me. Darkness Revealed is a nice perk to find survivors, which pairs well with another perk in this build.
- Oppression: the flavour text of this perk reads "Damn them as they would damn us", and Dracula has a voiceline to match that: "The humans made their judgment of me, thus I sentenced them to extinction!"
- Unforeseen: the description of this perk mentions that "terror takes many forms", which Dracula does too. This perk allows for some funny shenanigans by making yourself undetectable, then using Darkness Revealed to find survivors, and then sneak up to them in Wolf form. -
Survivors are not yet contagious if they are in the first stage of infection. A healthy teammate can unhook them without contracting the disease themselves. A survivor in the first stage of sickness also will not infect objects they touch.
This only applies when they are in second stage and broken, then any interaction between them and an object or teammate will spread the disease.
In your video, the Kate unhooks herself with Deliverance at 14:28. This causes the Broken status effect, which is not from the Plague. You can see that it goes away after a bit. -

Pumpkins are random how much they give. Some give 2k, some 500, some 25.
Yep, those are the Treat pumpkins, regular pumpkins and Trick pumpkins respectively.
-
It's not always 250/500 (without offering/with offering), fortunately. Treat pumpkins give you 1000/2000 points each, which is really nice. Though these points were indeed not buffed.
It seems the buffed points involve opening portals, going into the void, feeding energy into the well and picking up a crystal. -

I remembered this post and decided to record a full 'spending spree' of about 1.3 million bloodpoints on Jonah.
And, indeed, the only medkits and flashlights I got were from Mystery Boxes.
PC, Steam, Windows 11. -
It's important to note that you must have the item in your hand when you die.
If you dropped it by any means, either by doing so yourself or by means of a Killer add-on or perk (such as Franklin's Demise), it does not get saved.
If you used something that consumes the item, for example a syringe on your medkit, it does not get saved.
If you used a Brand New Part on a toolbox, it too does not get saved. You keep the toolbox though, so if you die while holding the toolbox, that and whatever other add-on you had on it will be preserved. The BNP does not. -
Not a bug, levels 2 and 3 are not open yet. The clock icon next to the II and III are indicators of this, and hovering over them will tell you when the page will open.

Rewards reset every day at 11 AM ET.
If the reward happens to be Rift Fragments, you don't get a popup for this. The fragments are added to your current progress regardless, so you don't miss out.
The calendar is never displayed in-game but can be found on the official channels, such as social media or the DBD website. -
Have you tried launching the crow as well?
The game seems to think it's still there, as the power gauge is slowly depleting but still allowing you to put down 2 more crows (as opposed to quickly recharging your power when used). -
And there is no way this can be intended, because no such changes were mentioned at all in the Patch Notes.
-
As stated above, other maps also spawn way too many breakable walls, causing some structures to become extremely unsafe or ridiculously strong. Examples:

Can confirm. I went against a Clown, a Nemesis with Deathbound and a Pinhead, and in all instances of powers and perks being used, the survivor bubbles were visible. Video proof:

-
This bug is still in the game with patch 8.3.0.
-
I believe the current outfit in the rift is a recolour, and the weapon somehow overwrites the original instead of existing alongside it.
-
Wraith has an add-on that keeps his terror radius active while he is cloaked. Could it be that he was running that?
-
With the release of Artist's new Gothic Tales cosmetic in Rift 21, I think there's even less reason to not update the prestige weapon!
-
It's worth noting that this happens with every killer that has some kind of instant teleport ability.

MintSkull made a video about it, showcasing what this bug looks like on every map -
The bonus is not guaranteed, but merely an incentive to get people to play a certain role.
If there is no bonus, then both queues are balanced and a specific role is not in demand at that time. -
Was this as/against the Dark Lord?
He has a strange bug right now where only female survivors don't scream when hooked by him. -
Invocation: Weaving Spiders gonna be updated when that happens … :P
-
I have done some more testing, and it seems that this bug is exclusive to the Dark Lord, regardless of what mode you play.
https://youtu.be/0MkBlQ1m8E0Here I am playing as Dredge (in Lights Out), and the bug does not occur when hooking a female character.
https://youtu.be/OfyJFEKPGFQAnd this is an example of a match as Dark Lord, where the bug once again occurs.

Another example, this time from a Survivor's perspective.
-
What perks did the survivor who unhooked her have?
-
Eruption is indeed risky to use because it uses up two events, one for kicking and one when it procs.
Though if you repeatedly get to a point where gens are blocked because you damaged them too often, you're doing something wrong. Nowhere to Hide is nice, but kicking a gen that has only, like, 10% progress is pointless for example. -
Where exactly did you read it's going to be nerfed?
All it says in the Sep-Oct section of the roadmap is Perk Updates. That can be anything. -
To this day we still have no news about the D20 charm :(.
It's sadly gathering dust in the game files. I am starting to think they forgot all about it. -

sure. multiple times knocked down them with blades (when the Main event started (yellow flames around the screen) . THis is why I dont understand what do I wrong? But will keep trying :)
As far as I remember, the yellow border around your screen already shows up when main event gauge is full and ready to activate.
But you still have to press the Secondary Power button to actually activate Main Event and start throwing knives really fast. So if you don't do that and just keep throwing knives normally, it doesn't count. -
The voice acting has improved a lot in recent years. If I remember correctly, they work closely with a studio called The Monster Factory (La Fabrique de Monstres), that supplies the VAs for their characters (killers and survivors).
You can tell trained from untrained in a heartbeat. Alan Wake's VA, Matthew Porretta, did a phenomenal job with his screams and lines, almost as if the recording booth he was in was actually a Jigsaw trap.
Some of the older voices, like Nea's, pale in comparison. Personally I don't like her hook screams at all, but I don't want to see them replaced. -
The hug tech in Wolf form is considered a 'Known Issue'.
The developers answered a number of questions on the post concerning the 8.2.1 bugfix patch:https://www.reddit.com/r/deadbydaylight/comments/1f8uo97/821_bugfix_patch/

Why do I need a break because other people play this game to grief others?
Literally as I type this, I'm minimized as my whole team is slugged and bleeding out, with 4 gens remaining.
Are you saying the two people yesterday that sat at the exit gate for 2.5 minutes straight, while I ran the Killer the whole time, waiting for a protection hit…
Who then teabagged me as I died on my first hook, and then mocked me in postgame chat…
You're telling me that none of these players are playing to grief???
What kind of fantasy land do you live in??? Welcome to the real world. People are like this.
Clearly because you are allowing it to get to you. If you have such emotional responses over a video game that you bring up FBI and reporting people to local police, you really should not be playing this game.
Yes, people can be trolls and griefers. What online game does not have them. Fortunately, you as a person have the ability to not interact with a space that makes you uncomfortable. So, don't play. -
Even though I agree that being slugged for no apparent reason is not a fun experience, you are not being held hostage. The bleedout timer is 4 minutes, then the game ends for you and you can go next.
it is a different matter altogether if you are being blocked in a corner and forced to wait until the server closes after one hour. -
You're forgetting that in the old system, you lost all your perks, add-ons and items with every prestige, completely resetting your character back to square one as if you just got them. For that reason alone I would not want to go back to that.
Also, a permanent level 50 Blood Web is not as great as you might think. When trying to collect Bloody Party Streamers, I am noticing that spending c. 2 million while having a permanent Level 50 web yields less than when leveling up a character from 1 to 50 twice. Could be my bad luck and RNG, but still.
"while a character's perks were obtained by reaching the first prestige."
This is not true. Unlocking a character's teachables did not require a full prestige, they had their own orange Teachable rarity and became available at levels 30, 35 and 40 respectively. You had to only get a character to Level 40 to unlock their perks on others. I had this for the longest time, and it was only after the rework and the new way to unlock teachables (by prestiging someone), that I started prestiging everyone to 3.
And as stated above, the Killer's grade, and later prestige, was never shown until the end of the match. Survivors and killers are now on equal ground in that regard. I see no issue here. -
@ReverseVelocity said:
It's a global killer achievement, not just Dracula specific.
Honor the Bloodline is a survivor achievement, actually. It requires you to reveal the killer's aura for a total of 60 seconds in one trial.

The order was different, with Laurie coming after Nea (as she's supposed to, release-date wise), somewhere in July of this year.
Now, I did learn in the meantime that there is apparently an automatic distinction between FREE characters included in the game and paid DLC characters, with the FREE characters coming first, right after one another regardless of release date (meaning Bill and David are supposed to appear right after Nea), followed by the PAID characters.
In that case, the order as we see it now is actually correct. I hadn't considered this. And if that is indeed how it works, then please disregard this report :). -
