Every new update that they put out breaks other stuff due to their prevalence of spaghetti code. With this one they also put out a full engine update and their regular update. I fully expected it to be a disaster full of bugs, broken stuff etc.
The teleporting, rubber banding etc is just horrible to play tho for real
-
Happened to me too

Where do you guys keep getting that I’m saying they should make the cosmetic free? I said discounted as it is a 2 year old skin after all.
Also just a suggestion for stuff like this going forward.
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
Why should it be discounted or free?
People who had Amazon Prime got it for free, which was an incentive back then and part of the collaboration between BHVR and Amazon.
Those skins are now not exclusive anymore (apparently) so people can buy them as usual. It would make no sense to make them free now or discounted.
Sure thats a POV but for me personally, I can’t see wanting to pay full price for a 2 year old cosmetic. Thats just seems shady when you’re also selling brand new, just designed cosmetics for the same price. But maybe that’s just me.
-
yeah you have to go into the actual player lobby now and it will be in the bottom left corner of your screen

am not having any other reports of this and having a quick checks on streams and our own tools, not seeing this replicated at all - can you check your connection etc.
I also had this happen to me in two different games. One I was on Toba Landing and as soon as I touched an exit gate it TPed me halfway across the map and I had to run back to gate. Second time it happened on Haddonfield I was actually in chase with killer and I suddenly started teleporting all over the streets. I asked people in and game chat if they saw it cuz I was afraid they’d report me for hacking. They said it happened to them too.

Would be nice if it would actually work to sign up for the Newsletter. Until this day it never worked for me and I am pretty sure I am not the only one.
(Let alone that I dont see any point why the Bonus-BPs should just be for new subscribers. What is the point to subscribe to the Newsletter then? You get all information via Social Media already…)
yeah I signed up for that newsletter and have never received any code from it

Not sure why youre going so hard my guy... I never said I did it, or even supported people doing it, I simply said I understand the perspective of people who do...
And to be honest... I personally consider the Suicide on Hook player the worse of the two, as I consider being willing to ruin the game for everyone else because they can't be bothered, despite them having agreed to play a game that requires their participation to function, inexcusabley selfish and inconsiderate.
So as I've said before, I don't advocate for either player... but of the 2, I look far more favourably of hook griefing being in the game if it means that SoH players are paying the price, the same way I'd have more respect from someone who bullies a bully. It's wrong what they're doing, but in the same breathe the bully brought it upon themselves, so I can't say I have much sympathy.
But sure, if you think it bolsters your argument, keep accusing me of things I havent said or done.
You can feel how you feel about it but coming down for the side that’s actually breaking the rules as opposed to the one who isn’t is a weird hill to die on.
Especially since the one griefing is also ruining the game by taking yourself away from helping the other two teammates just to take your anger out on someone else behind a screen who isn’t playing the way you want.

I wouldn't call it egotistical thinking at all.
Egotistical - excessively conceited or absorbed in oneself; self-centred.
As you say yourself, anyone doing it is actively wasting their own time, and costing themselves the game. I do understand the argument you are making, and you are right, you are griefing someone, which is why I don't tell people they should do it, or advocate for doing it.
However my argument is there is no punishment for SoH. BHVR have said themselves they can't stop it, as there is no rule they can impose to prevent it. So this leaves everyone in limbo, there is no means of preventing it. As such the only reason people grief a player like this, is not to benefit themselves, it's actually taking an L on themselves in order to exert some kind of punishment on a player who is actively and selfishly ruining the game for everyone else, with the intent of discouraging SoH for the greater community as a whole.
A player who SoH is not reportable by the rules, even though the rules specifically state that "going AFK, helping the killer, not participating in normal gameplay" is a reportable offence. Any logical interpretation of those rules indicates SoH is against the rules, but its not enforcable, so people get away with with it... its kinda silly, but that's where it is. As such there is a line of thinking where being the one to ensure a punishment on a SoH player is actually quite noble.
It's a simple case of something that should be against the law, isn't against the law, and therefore a community enforces it themselves.
Fact is if you want to get out of the game, leave. Take your DC penalty. You ruined the game for everyone else, the least you can do give the team a bot to play without you. In fact the least you should do is try and waste as much of the killers time before you die, but if you are gonna be a baby, at least leave a bot.
Its not noble at all. It’s a video game. Get over it. 😆 You’re not saving a baby from a burning building. Youre griefing a player who isn’t playing the way you believe they should. Again, this is why I said ego. This idea that you’re performing some heroic act for the good of the community when really you’re just adding to its toxicity is delusional.
Comparing people letting themselves out of a match they don’t wanna play to people breaking the (not) law is beyond laughable. Not to mention, people “enforcing” things that aren’t against the law “but should be” (that’s also up for debate) is a form of vigilantism which itself is against the law, and the person doing that is subject to arrest and criminal proceedings.
So once again, you wanna “take the law into your own hands” in DBD land go ahead but you’re the one breaking the rules and you’ll be the one who gets suspended or banned for it. Doesn’t matter what you think the rules should be on SoH, the reality of it is that it’s not punishable but griefing on hook IS. You wanna die on that hill tho go ahead.

Oh how delightful!
BHVR accidentally manages to pull off a W, but everyone is in an uproar that now they can't troll other people and it gets reverted. I love this community so much.
This wasn’t a W. While griefing other teammates needs to be addressed, this change would have actually nerf normal gameplay around hook and hugely buff hook camping for killers.
The unhook spam griefing doesn’t happen anywhere near enough to justify that kind of trade off. I’m hoping they can come up with a better way to deal with it.
Some have suggested putting a limit on unhook cancelling to like 6 tries so that people can still use it to mind game and strategize unhooking their teammates, but also stopping the griefing with it. I think that would be a good idea for them to try out.
-
@UndeddJester said:
SIgh, yeah this one was a shame. I'm usually more lenient on the game developers sides, but this one was bad change. It hurts genuine gameplay for the sake of a very small nubmer of bad actors…
Even the label of "bad actors" is questionable.
I'm not advocating for griefing, but what's really frustrating is this "grief" was not prevelant at all, and the only times I've ever even seen it was in response to a player trying to SoH and get out of the game. If you unhook them they just run straight to killer and try to kill themselves again. This was the only mechanism survivors have to try and force a player to either DC and give us a bot, or stop screwing around and actually play, cause they are made clear they won't be allowed to SoH, and will be forced to sit in the game as long as possible.
This is basically a buff to facilitate SoH…. which BHVR have said they have no ideas for dealing with SoH players…. so since you can't reasonably solve the issue, why not leave the rest of us with a policing tool to help prevent it ourselves?
Edit: Correcttion. Peantis confirmed this is being removed too!
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3703126#Comment_3703126
Nice! 😁
Here’s the thing. While I’m NOT advocating for SoH at all as it’s screwed me many many times, who are you/other survs to decide that it’s your job or right to “police” other survivors in the match? I think that’s a huge indicator of egotistical thinking, control issues and power tripping to decide “Nope you’re not leaving this match unless you do it MY way or I allow you to, otherwise I’m going to break the rules and grief you.”
- Griefing is against the rules full stop.
- You will never ever force someone to stay in a match that they’ve decided they no longer want to be in. You don’t have that control or power to “allow” (your words) or disallow anyone to do anything and that’s just the nature of video games. If they want out/no longer want to play they won’t and you’re not going to force them to otherwise. Most people will just tab out and go do something else until it’s over despite your griefing.
- Whats funny is the time you’re talking about spending griefing/“punishing” someone on hook is time you could be spending on gens or helping your other teammates. This is exactly why when I see someone trying to SoH, I will not go for the save. They’ve shown me that they’re not going to be a helpful or valuable team member so my time is better spent finishing that gen, cleansing that hex totem, healing that other teammate. So while you’re claiming that the SoH teammate is the one ruining the match for everyone, you’re also failing to contribute to the match in any meaningful way by wasting your time griefing another player out of spite, meaning you are being just as useless and not helpful as the teammate trying to get out of the match. 😆
While I’m glad this change was reverted as it did punish normal gameplay, a tool for griefing should not stay in a match simply for the purpose of helping teammates “police” other teammates by griefing them in hook. Thats just silly and all that’s gonna do is get the “police officer” banned for breaking game rules. My advice to people who think this way: Get over yourselves and go contribute to the match yourself. - Griefing is against the rules full stop.

bro you do realize just slug the decisive user and leave them on the floor weaponizing decisive isn’t as big of a deal as you guys make it out to be
It’s really not. There’s a clear and easy counter to it in slugging but of course everyone is like “I’m just gonna tunnel them out right off the hook it’s the only way!!”
lol no, it’s just what you want to do to punish survivors for getting a buff to a perk you hate. 🤣🤣🤣 That’s how it always is here. Anytime a survivor perk gets a buff that they don’t like people decide to punish the survivors for using it. If that’s what you’re gonna do then do it, whatever. But let’s stop pretending that you’re only doing it because that’s the “only way to counter it now” when it clearly isn’t. Own up. 😆

Lmao it’s so funny to me how every time a survivor perk gets a buff it’s always followed by posts of “welp now I’m gonna tunnel everyone out!”
When had that ever not happened? 🤣🤣 Tunnelers were always gonna tunnel regardless. This is no longer the threat that you think it is

The unhook change has been removed, you'll be able to cancel an unhook like always. We're going to explore other options that don't affect normal gameplay.
Thank you for clarifying!
Also should we also assume that all Haddonfield changes went though? There was a lot of negative feedback on that too
-
That is really stupid. They’ve now removed the ability to strategize unhooks and made hook camping super easy for killers now (obviously proxy camping can easily still happen) all for a few idiots who grief unhooks. The vast majority of the playerbase didn’t do that stuff and now everyone has to suffer for it in regards to making skillful and smart unhooking decisions.
I now see what so many people are saying about them constantly removing skill-based interactions from this game.

Oh, yeah. Yes, they should have 100% reverted this. Making proxycamping stronger for the odd chance that someone was griefing with this was bad to begin with.
YES This needed to be reverted badly. This has now taken away any ability for survivors to mind game and strategize unhooks.

Well. If the team plans accordingly, they can still help you out for a quick escape. You keep the speed boost at least when they rescue you. So everyone needs to make sure to take hits for each other
wait you still keep the endurance speed off hook but just don’t heal anymore? If that’s the case then I think it’s fine then but my understanding was that you now don’t heal or get the endurance off hook from it.
-
@Nerfpopalready said:
I’m concerned they didn’t mention haddonfields awful rework they gave it the coldwind treatment too small and a lot of unplayable tiles idk what is with the map designers but they are not doing a very good job of making maps fun for both sides Freddy can deal with literally every pallet on the map with ease so imagine nurse xeno etc this is not gonna be good if not addressed
God don’t even remind me of how horrible that map change is. The fact that they didn’t revert any of that means we have another horrible map to play on now.
-
I agree with all this except the fact that they kept all the adrenaline nerfs. That took a perk that you had to survive the entire match and make it to endgame to use, and made it almost pointless to want to run.
I agreed with it not working against Freddy’s power. I also agreed that getting the full heal and speed off hook was too strong. (Personally I felt like they should keep one of the two: Make it not heal off hook but give the endurance or make it heal but no endurance off hook) However the 5 second endurance to 3 seconds was not even asked for or needed.A perk that you can only use in the last minutes of the game should have strength to it, and they took that from a too strong perk to a “meh why bother?” perk.

@Caiman said:
I think you're overblowing it, but even if you aren't, I accept the trade-off.
I do too. People will rage quit as always but at least this way those of us in the aftermath won’t be punished. I’m so tired of losing pips I earned because 2 players DC right at 5 gens, the third player dies on hook and even if the killer gives me hatch I still depip because I didn’t get a chance to play the match. On the other side, loading into a game where the killer is AFK the whole time for whatever reason, I still depip since there was no chance for killer interaction or altruism.
So my thing is, who cares if people who rage quit don’t lose a pip for it? At least I won’t lose mine either over their rage quitting. I gladly accept these terms.
-
No. that’s silly
-
looping absolutely requires skill. I couldn’t loop to save my life when I started this game and now I can. Also if we remove looping what do you suggest survivors do? Just go down instantly and give the killer a 4K?
The reason you get run while 3 gens pop before you get a hook is because you’re being looped by a skilled survivor. If you had a survivor unskilled at looping this wouldn’t happen.
-
I hate this too and I’m a survivor main. The only reason I wait at exit gates once they’re open are:
-I still have a teammate in the match and I wanna wait in case there’s a way I can help them escape
That’s it.
Once all my teammates are out or if someone goes down but they’re on death hook and I can’t do anything, I’m out. One I’m not waiting to get juked by Blood Warden and two, I have ADHD. My attention span doesn’t wanna sit there doing nothing when I could easily go start my next match.
-
yes you can equip lightborn every match. The same way if survivors want to counter ultimate weapon we would need to equip calm spirit every match just in the off chance that a killer brings UW. That’s the sacrifice you make if you want to counter a specific playstyle. That’s what perks are for. This game does not guarantee that you will always be able to counter every single perk that the other side brings, and asking for changes or even perk nerfs/buffs so that you CAN counter every single playstyle is silly and frankly unrealistic and unreasonable. There are hundreds of perks in this game.
No one is going to be able to counter every situation in every match when you only have 4 perk slots, (and you shouldn’t be able to) and that goes for killer and survivor. You roll the dice when you choose your build and you win some and lose some. That’s how it goes. -

When you close the hatch the gates open automatically which is dumb. Understandable why people would slug.
yeah but you don’t actually win anything. The BP in this mode is minimal and you can’t pip. Only depip. So what’s the point in being sweaty for a silly mode? 🤣🤣
-
I played my last match of the event 10 min before it ended. Used the blood orbs and all that and got the multipliers but cuz the match ended 3 minutes after the end, it gave us none of the BP multipliers or the extra event points. 😐
If we are already in the match before event ends we should still get the event bonus at the end. But oh well. -
I’ve definitely called for this a long time. So happy to see this change.
-
I hate to break it to you but you’re not gonna “punish” players into staying in matches that they don’t want to be in. This has never worked. You can up the DC penalty and people will continue to DC, eat the penalty and go play another game until their penalty is up. Other option is they will just continue to give up on hook, which they devs have already said they’re not gonna punish because they don’t want to risk punishing honest attempts at the 4 percent or internet lag issues.
It’s funny to me that people would rather attempt to punish people and/or force them to stay in a match that they aren’t enjoying rather than address the root of the issue which is the killer. I despise playing again legion, onryo and Pinhead but I’ll still stay in those matches because they’re rarely ever as consistently bad as going against a SM which are always horrible for me.
-
Yup just slug them. Problem solved.
They’re not gonna remove the basekit borrowed time. Survivors are gonna body block sometimes because that’s a tactic to help their team. Slugging is your counter. Use it.
-
So I was not gonna bother with this either but I ended up getting lucky. Got in a match with a huntress who kept trying to M1 me and kept missing. It was literally first chase of the match and she missed 3 hits on me in a row.
Clearly I got the luck of the draw that match because otherwise I would not have gotten this.
-
People have been complaining about this for months. Dedicated server crashes where it hoots everyone and we still lose our items and get DC penalties. From what I’ve seen BHVR has yet to address this or say what they’re doing about it.

Well, stealing blood drop is already impossible unless the killer is totally ignoring the event. You have to take the very first chase to have a chance.
I’ve completed this once twice now. I stunned the killer and clearly stole the blood drop and got the gold completed bar showing it was done during the match. Once again, when match is over it shows incomplete.
-
I’ve tried two challenges that are bugged on my end. I stole the droplet from the killer by stunning them (did this one twice) , and I hooked 3 survivors as the killer (did this one three times) and I get the gold completion bar during the match. After the match it shows as incomplete.

My friend and I both completed that challenge by grabbing a blood drop, getting hit at a pallet, and then throwing the pallet down to stun the killer and steal the blood drop back. Took no effort, done on our first tries.
I just tried it again today. I did a blast mine on a gen and was right behind the killer when they kicked it. It stunned them and the blood drop transferred to me, but the challenge still don’t proc for me at all.
-
I’m on PC
-
Just did the 3 hook challenge again just to be sure and yeah it’s bugged. Got the good completion bar again and it still didn’t count. This is annoying.
BHVR needs to release a large BP code to everyone for all the issues today
-
That’s what I expected. Almost all the other events give a BP bonus with the offering. All this one does is show me where the basins are? I mean, I guess. I’d rather bring my own BP offerings if I could guarantee that others weren’t gonna bring the event offering to cancel them out.
Speaking of that, since when (and why) are event offerings designed to cancel out BP offerings?
-
I think just not running the event offering is better but that’s hard to coordinate in solo Q because you can’t ask teammates not to bring it if you’re in a mixed PC/Console lobby.
I’m also confused as to how this is the biggest BP grinding even when it doesn’t even touch the anniversary event.
-
@Snowbawlzzz said:
I generally take a last-second switch as the survivor flexing their pecs at me and will make a point to try and kill them first
This post is an example of what I was about to say which is that quick switching typically triggers the killers who bring their egos into the game. To them, your quick switch basically tells them that you’re a challenge that must be destroyed, or that you’ve somehow insulted or mocked them and therefore they have to put you in your place by tunneling you out or BMing you. It’s usually ego based.
Whats funny is so many people mock survivors about the “survivor rule book” when killers have just as many rules they expect survivors to follow. Only difference is if you don’t follow them, the killers actually have the power to lash out and ruin the game for you for not complying. 🤣
-
When I do see her in my matches the same happens. Hook give ups or DCs. I guess that’s good for players who only care about 4Ks but I have to wonder how that’s gonna play out once they cruise to those high MMRs and get teams who will play the match snd slaughter them.
Also they can’t be getting max BP out of it when a match only lasts 2-3 minutes, but in someone who cares about BP, maybe they don’t?
-
This is exactly why I’ve started telling people to stop rushing to buy these new chapters right when they come out. The perks always end up having either some hidden unannounced downside that’s discovered after the fact (like this one right now) or any good perks get nerfed into the ground almost immediately, making the money spent a total waste.
Every match I’ve played where someone brought this perk has resulted in all 4 teammates being dead at 4 gens (one match was 3 gens) because everyone wants to sit in the basement to play with the new toy, leaving teammates on hook to second state, or death. If you do get left to second state you’re immediately tunneled out since you’re injured and on death hook so it’s an easy kill.
There is less than 0 value to this perk at this point.
-
Bubbas domain will not be co-opted by interlopers! 😆
-
Killers have been tunneling people out at 5 gens for awhile now. This isn’t going to “cause” people to do stuff they’ve already been doing. 😆

Okay but my question is how is it still not too strong at endgame? That was your original view on it but suddenly that changes due to complaints? Plus lots of the nerds you guys announce gets complaints but those don’t get reverted. Why was this one different?
